Nope.

I made plans to play a board game yesterday and we did. It was a trick-taking game with cats.

Every once in a while during winter. My hands can get ashy.

Hm maybe about 5 to 5:30 AM? One job required me to be in pretty early. But I got transferred out of there because I lived far from the office and kept showing up late.

Usually a PC, sometimes my phone.

It would’ve been dial-up in 1999.

Some kinda cold tea or coffee.

Not a fan of toast. It scratches the roof of my mouth.

About $1,600. I pay off my cards every month.

Yep, for three years in the early 00s and then non-stop since 2008. I got an associates degree in graphic and web design and it helped for sure.

Every day since I don’t have a car.

No I shut it down.

Not so much these days. I’m a distant type.

A few days ago to accommodate some upcoming construction. I used to like to move things around but now that most of my stuff is in storage I’m fine with the layout.

Talking with devs who have emotional difficulty.

Nope, but I worked on Sims 2 and Sims 3 so I did get to play those. I liked Sims 3 more than 2 when I had to poke around in there.

First of all, HOLY SHIT WE REACHED 100 MILESTONES?!?! I started Tumblr way back in 2016 lmfaoo this same account is loyal to me since then but I never properly use this account until November last year where I started to interact with writers I love and lost many of them too. And I started writing on this account since March 2022 and I am so so so grateful for everyone that had stayed with me along my journey.

Y/N woke up the next day feeling like she could take on the world, energized, with a new crush, and full of life, a stark shift from how she usually was. She was never normally a morning person and had a severe addiction to caffeine. I mean, the addiction was still there and she still needed coffee before she could go to her 3pm class and meet up with Jason again, but she was happy. She would put on her clothes and pack her bag before even getting coffee.
“G’morning, A/N!”
“Who are you and what did you do with my best friend?” A/N joked.
“Down girl, I’m just peppy today, it’ll probably wear down and it’s probably a once-in-a-blue-moon deal,” Y/N said as she started brewing her coffee.
“You got a date with Jason today?”
“I do!”
“That explains it,” A/N joked again.
“Says the one with a boyfriend,” she shot back.
“He’s not my boyfriend, we’re just hooking up right now, trust me, if he was, you’d know, darlin’.”
“So what did dreamboat ask last night?” A/N asked.
“Well I said ‘What do you want to know?’ and he said ‘We’ll talk about it today, maybe during notes or maybe during our lunch date, we’ll see how i’m feeling.’ so I think that’s good?”
“You kidding? You got that man wrapped around your finger, respect.”
“Shut up.”
“No thanks, I have free speech y’know.”
“Yeah you can say whatever, but I can also use my free speech rights to tell you to shove it, so, checkmate,” you sneered at her.
“That’s fair,” A/N paused and then changed the subject, “Have you heard Brutal yet?” she asked.
“You’re damn right I have, I wonder where that was for me at 17. But to be fair, I would still blast it now at my parents just to make them irk.”
“They would kill you for listening to that song instead of their Christian Rock.”
“Worth it, I’ll die swinging and singing.” Y/N mused.
“It really is Brutal out here.”

She walked up to her 3pm class, to be greeted by Jason at the door, with of course, her new knowledge of the tabloids and their minions, she questioned why he’d do this.
“Hey, Y/N.”
“’Afternoon, Jason.”
“I’m trying to give the tabloids a show, don’t mind me.” he mused.
“I’m not surprised, but class is in 5.”
“Then I guess we should sit down and get ready to write at lightning speeds.”
She went to sit down, followed close by Jason. She couldn’t help but notice everyone was staring, but she didn’t care. This is going to be fun, she thought, I’m glad they’re gonna get a fucking kick out of this, she finished her thought.
Class went on as usual, with her scribbling down the notes so quick her arms hurt by the end of it, and Jason just sitting around making sure she wasn’t losing her arms to the writing, and casually laughing at the Professor. Then, the Professor brought up Barry Allen. Dr. Barry Allen and what he does for the criminal psychology people.
“Forensics go hand-in-hand with criminal psych, normally we can tell, as scholars, from the hitting of the weapon why and who might’ve done it.” The Professor said.
She saw Jason tense up a bit, and whispered over to him;
“You know Dr. Barry Allen don’t you?”
“He’s my uncle,” he whispered back.
“Well, be sure to tell him I’ve read some of his essays when I wanted to go into forensics instead of criminal psychology.”
“Really? He has essays?”
“Many. Very good writing. 10/10.”
“You’re going to make his week if you keep talking like this.” he mused.
“Good.” you mocked.

“So, you’re intermixed with a renowned journalist, a legend in forensic testing and you’re the son of Bruce Wayne?” she asked Jason, she couldn’t believe the words coming out of her mouth, but there they were, all cards on the table.
“Yeah, I know this is all new to you but famous people tend to know other famous people.” he joked with her.
“Well that’s fair, I guess I kind of know Clark, I met him once at a office party with my mum.”
“He’d probably remember you.”
“Enough of your family ties, huh? You said you wanted to know more about me?”
“Yes, that, did you tell your roommate to pick up your car?” he asked her.
“I did, why was I meant to do that, by the way?” she asked him.
“Because, we, you and I, Y/N, are going to go for a joyride on my motorbike and try to get away from these,” he lowered his voice, “bitch ass cameras,” he grabbed her hand and started running towards his bike, dodging all the paparazzi who just wanted the snag shot of the two. They don’t even know my name, and they’re going off about this, she thought.
When the two met his bike, she looked over it fondly. This guy really likes his red, she thought, that’s fair, I do too.
“Nice bike.”
“Thank you, Y/N. We can ride this bad boy out to the country and try to escape the cameras, which kind of cuts into the lunch date, but hey-”
“That’s just the life someone famous has to live?” she questioned.
“You’re catching on.”
“I could have been a detective if I wanted it.”
He laughed and sat down on his bike and like instinct, she sat behind him and wrapped her hands on his chest and leant in. She didn’t know how to passenger a motorbike, but he didn’t say she did it wrong.
“You ready?”
“Jason, are you going to kill me?”
“Well if the shoe fits.” he mused.
“I’m ready.”
And off they went.
There was something about the way the bike drove through the streets of Gotham that she loved so much, she had already fallen in love with the restless city and called it home long before right now, but this was exhilarating for her. Somehow driving at 120mph was amazing, it brought out this feeling of freedom, something she hadn’t ever felt back home in Metropolis.
It’s worth it, she thought, it’s forever going to be worth it.

Pulling her off of his bike, the two of them laid underneath the tree on the small hill Jason pulled over by.
“Do you think we escaped the pap?” she asked him.
“Probably not.”
“Festive.”
“So, Y/N, it’s your turn to open up about your family. Besides your mum, I already know about your mum.”
“So, my twin sister goes to our rival school, the Metropolis one, I think she’s more of a people person than I’ll ever be. My parents are still together, they got married after they had my sister and I, so I’m a bastard,” she laughed, “I always like telling people I’m by definition a bastard, a lot of them get mad all like, ‘don’t call yourself that you’re a lovely girl’ and it’s just funny to me,”
He laughed, “You call yourself a bastard out of spite?”
“Am I supposed to not? I think it’s funny-”
“It’s pretty funny. I live out of spite too,” he said, almost like he was pulling out a bad memory, but she egged him on slightly,
“Spite who?” she asked.
“Spite God.”
She let out a laugh, and he seemed to let go of whatever memory he had clung onto to watch her laugh. It was clearly a distracting laugh.
“God tried to strike you and you just went ‘Nah mate, go away’? Respectable. I would do that.” she said while laughing.
“That’s exactly what happened, Y/N-” and his phone pinged, he turned it over, it was Dick.
“Mind sharing who that is?”
“I don’t mind, it’s my older brother sending me an article of us today. We really gave them a show holding hands,” he began reading, “ ‘Millionaire’s Son, Jason Todd, Caught Holding Hands with the Mystery Girl.’ “
“One day they will know my name. And it will be a massive article. Like a gender reveal.”
“Like a gender reveal?!” he said back to her, laughing so hard his smile reached ends she didn’t expect it to be able to go.
“It wasn’t that funny of a joke, Jason,” she said.
“It’s a better joke than my brothers and sister could ever come up with, Y/N, and they’ve had Galas to practice for,” he retorted.
“I’ll set it ablaze like the California gender reveal,” she continued with the joke, expecting this to be too far, but this also showed her that Jason liked dark humor, and she did too.
He burst out laughing at this, and she smiled.
“You have perfect teeth, Jason.”
“Is that what you’re focused on?” he asked.
“They are the forefront when you smile, it is hard not to.”
“Romantic,” he mocked her.
“I can be more romantic next date, if you want it,” she said, inclined towards him saying I want it. She was right.

I have to vent about sessrin I’m sorry. Look, I’m pro-ship, I ship problematic stuff too(*ahem* sukufushi enthusiast here *ahem*), but I also find a bunch of ships squick and I avoid them. People can ship and indulge in problematic media, because fiction is a place where you can explore anything and everything without consequences. There’s a catch to the ‘no consequences’ thing though, if you’re posting triggering content and indulging in fictional stuff that’s considered sick and twisted- you have to acknowledge that it is problematic and make sure you curate the access people have to it if you’re posting it in a place where lot’s of people can see. That’s what content warnings and tags are for.
Yashahime has zero warnings about sessrin. Nothing. Worse, it’s advertised to children. Kids don’t have the ability to understand that sessrin is problematic or wrong, an older man approaching a child romantically is just plain wrong. Adults who ship weird stuff can at least acknowledge that and therefore put warnings; eg: SukuFushi involves a 1000 year old demon king and a 16 year old high school kid. I fully know it’s fucked up and wrong and you know what? I acknowledge that. Whatever shitty content I make for it has some level of warning. The show itself(Jujutsu Kaisen) is rated 17+ and is targeted at adults so they can tell what’s okay and what’s not.
Kids who are watching Yashahime CAN’T. I was around 14 when I saw Inuyasha, and if 14-yr old me watched Yashahime as well, I’d have shipped Sessrin without ever thinking about how many disturbing implications it has.
I’m not saying don’t ship it. I’m saying acknowledge that it’s fucked up. And unlike my problematic ships, sessrin is CANON. They’re advertising this and were being all coy about it being like “who’s sesshomaru’s wife oooooh~~”, and the absolute worst part is there were no content warnings.
You can do whatever the fuck you want in fiction, but there are boundaries that come along with it like ratings, age restrictions, warnings, etc. These exist for a reason and the fact it was so blatantly disregarded and such a thing is being promoted is what’s so...wrong about this.
UPDATE: If you're going to reply to this with hate, arguments and go "but she was 17-18 when giving birth", do yourself a favour and don't. Go to your tag and enjoy your content and leave me alone.
If you're going to invalidate my trauma and belittle me then just don't interact. I'm not going to argue with any of you. I had something to say, I said it without targeting any person and tagged it as "anti sessrin". So stop with this bs.
(Also saying that she was 18 when she gave birth means nothing because that means she probably became pregnant when 17 and their romantic relationship took place when she was a minor. You are not doing yourself any favours)

11. Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?
They celebrate birthdays together, because every year of survival is worth celebrating, and they tend to get invited to celebrations in the desert by Boba's Tusken friends.
12. Is there a wedding? What was the proposal like? Any kind of honeymoon?
I haven't decided yet! I feel like it’s Boba who actually asks, if so. Perhaps the good people of Mos Pelgo get on his case about making an honest man of Cobb, perhaps it’s part of political manoeuvring to secure control of Tatooine, perhaps Cobb wakes up one morning and Boba’s lying there staring at him three inches from his face and looking about one inch from tears and Cobb’s like “…what?” and he’s like “I love you more than I thought I’d ever love anyone, do you think you could put up with getting married?”
For a honeymoon Boba offers to take Cobb somewhere pretty with a rainforest, because that’s the opposite of a desert, right? The ocean isn’t the opposite, it’s just like a different flavour of desert or they wouldn’t call it the Dune Sea. Cobb’s quite keen on the idea but his enthusiasm is tempered by how totally unprepared he was for the menace of mosquito bites, and by the effect of the humidity on his hair.
13. What do they do for fun? Do they have a favorite activity or do they like to switch things up?
They share an appreciation of things that go zoom. It’s because of their joint enthusiasm that pod racing gets started again (albeit with some new rules, eg no kid drivers, actively attempting to kill other competitors will get you disqualified and banned for the rest of the season). They enjoy fixing up machines together, and on quiet evenings they play cards a lot, particularly games that involve bluffing and/or have a strip variant. When they want to get away from everyone and everything they’ll spend a clear night out in the desert, lying in a shared bedroll under the stars.
14. Anything they both dread?
Any kind of off-world diplomacy. Relations with Mandalore are okay since they’ve got a friend on the inside, but at present Tatooine occupies an uneasy position, not really friendly with the New Republic but holding the line against imperial remnants on the Outer Rim. Having to deal with senators and generals (is EVERYONE in the New Republic either a senator or a general?) sometimes is just the price you have to pay for having your own planet and getting to do fun stuff like decolonisation.
15. How adventurous are they?
Pretty! They’re certainly not timid.
16. Do they keep secrets? Lie? Cheat?
Early on they have problems with Boba, from Cobb’s perspective, keeping secrets, from his own perspective, just not realising that these are things Cobb expects to be told (there were some examples earlier on about going off on his own initiative in big and small ways without communicating). Neither of them is secretive by nature but they still have that whole thing where the older you are and the more varied and full your life has been, the more things you’re likely to have in your past that you don’t think to bring up but that would startle your new partner if they came up unexpectedly. They haven’t intentionally lied to each other and both feel strongly that cheating is a shitty thing to do (but case by case passes may be negotiable, you never know).
17. What would make them break up? Would it be permanent?
Irreconcilable differences about what’s good for Tatooine? They’re pretty committed to each other and would feel it was a major loss if they couldn’t work something out.
18. What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other?
They never exactly “dated” as a preliminary relationship stage, unless you count getting summoned to the palace to meet the scary guy whose armour you bought from Jawas as a date. Breaks from each other happen a lot by necessity during the period when they’re dividing their time between the old Hutt palace and Mos Pelgo. They’re both busy enough to be glad most times they get to see each other, unless they’re too tired to enjoy it.
19. What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up?

It’s not easy for them to fight without being really afraid of what’s going to happen so they tend to quickly flare up into shouting and slamming doors and then sulking separately, not dealing with whatever the fight was about. This is when it’s really lucky for them that they have a shared BFF who’s a skilled conflict mediator with no time for nonsense.
20. What does their home look like? Their room?
I like to imagine them eventually building a home that they plan together, a nice little womp rat burrow for two, a haven for weary bones at the end of the day. It’s mostly an idea of how it feels rather than how it looks.

64! only five more to the magic number ayyyyy and then i’m legally obligated to never post another one.

289,575 apparently??? which seems way way way higher than i ever would have guessed, wow. who knew!

31 on ao3, although that’s lumping, eg, all marvel subfandoms together. but i have a ridiculous amount of wips in all kinds of other fandoms that i haven’t/won’t post, soooo.... more than that! and i don’t want to list them all bc that’d be a long boring read!

it serenely disdains to destroy us, a magnus archives fic that, i somewhat vainly note, has been orbiting in the top few top kudosed fics in the tag since i posted it womp womp.
concerning flight, because we all thirsty for thor/loki+gender and i for one support us.

i do, depending on the comment! i don’t think comments like “loved this!” / “thanks for writing!” are written with the intent to receive a response (or at least, when i write them on other people’s fics, i certainly don’t expect one). they’re like an extra kudo(s?), and i appreciate them a lot, but they’re not really an invitation to Discuss. whereas if someone clearly has put a lot of thought into a comment, or asked a question, or made some observations that i jive with, or just seems like they want to engage, then hell yeah i jump in there. love that shit.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
i guess arguably thine own self, which is some hydra husbands abo. laugh all you want, it’s one of my fave of all my fics lmao. probably specifically bc of the unpleasant/open ending.
7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
probably moderation is a memory! since it, unlike 99% of all my other stuff, isn’t just total smut, and the whole point of writing it was to wallow as deep as possible in the sauce of giddy teenage infatuation, it got the opportunity to have an actual emotional arc (more or less). furthermore i could not possibly bring myself to break johnny lawrence’s tender little heart ever, that would hurt me far more than it would hurt him.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
i only realised while answering this question that apparently.... no i don’t write crossovers! which is not at all a deliberate choice, i guess a compelling enough one just hasn’t occurred to me yet!
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
shockingly no! by some accidental miracle i’ve managed to fly under the radar so far, despite some of the really buckwild stuff i’ve posted. however, considering some of the stuff i’m probably ABOUT to post.... that clean track record might soon come to an end lmao.
10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
lmao. uhhhh. almost exclusively, and i guess??? all kinds? this is clearly a question composed by someone who does not write smut.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i know of, and i wouldn’t really care if i did.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
yeah i think a few....? a number of people have asked anyway and i always say yes, so probably there’s at least one floating around out there somewhere.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
i have! just once, and we really made it count. it’s called a reptile dysfunction, which should tell you all you need to know.
14) What’s your all time favorite ship?
thorki, probably. i always have and always will come back to it, no matter what. it’s got such a ferociously timeless staying power and so much potential variation, i don’t think i could ever get bored of it, regardless of what level of marvel-exhaustion i might feel at a given time, or what tropes, kinks, or stage of literary pretension i’m at. truly the oh tee pee.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
ohhhhh all 836575927 of them, but. there’s this one thorki fic i started almost ten years ago as an experiment with a new-to-me style, which turned out over the intervening years to become my main style, and looking back on that fic, which for many years was a touchstone of writing-to-aspire to for me, it’s actually Not Very Good lol. but i still love the core concept, which is a canon divergence berserker thor au, but not only is it a somewhat inaccessible (admittedly less so since the deadpool movies came out, which was a hilarious pipe dream back when i started writing it) x-force comics crossover, but i wrote myself into a bunch of corners and have yet to dig up the energy to write myself back out of them! i go and reread it every year or so and think “hmm... maybe now...” but tbh it’s just not really good enough to bother! perhaps someday i’ll repurpose the best elements of it into something new.
16) What are your writing strengths?
man, it’s so hard to say. in much the same way that you can spend hours every day staring at yourself in a mirror, yet be utterly incapable of picking yourself out of a lineup, i spend a lot of time eyeballing my writing, but stepping back it seems like a chaotic mass of nonsense with few cohesive throughlines. i’m good at writing smut, i know that much! and in that vein, i think i am good at smut bc i am very good at committing to the bit, as it were. getting into the nitty gritty of experience and sensation (physical or emotional) and rendering largely abstract internal concepts in fairly comprehensible ways. i think my prose is quite decent on a sentence level too.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
utterly incapable of finishing anything! or plotting anything! can’t mange a cohesive emotional arc! write myself into overly structured corners or out onto a vast plain with no structure in sight! all the macro elements of storytelling totally elude me, which is very frustrating when i have all this tasty fleshed out micro-level character stuff, but no narrative skeleton upon which to drape it.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
don’t! unless you are very sure you know what you’re doing, and the other language bits are a) very few, b) easily contextually understood, and c) actually adding something other than a weird flex that you know google translate exists.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
11yo me wrote spock/kirk/janice rand and thought she invented the concept of a threesome. brand been stronk since day one 🤘. (the vulcan salute is right next to the devil horns in my emoji list, so....)
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
i love the (ongoing) better with you series very much, not least because i’m still absolutely flabbergasted that i wrote something that long. i think it’s actually pretty good all things considered and it’s very dear to me on many many levels. but the fic that i just viscerally adore, that i love the style of, and that i had such a transcendent, invigorating, organic Experience writing, is temper its strength, adding honey until quite cold, which is a terror fic with the inexplicable pairing of edward little/hartnell, featuring crossdressing and gender stuff. it just burst out of me fully formed one day and i don’t think i’ve managed to top it yet!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Exactly 60!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
84,951 words. Is that a lot for 5 years?
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Three! Before I found my home in the peggysous trashcan and in the Miss Fisher fandom (which, honestly, the most welcoming and friendly fandom ever!), I wrote a few of fitzsimmons fics.
4. Top five fics by kudos?
So up first we have looking over the brim, my debut in the mfmm fandom, with 157 kudos, pulling away from #2, also mfmm, work/life (off) balance, which is a fic of vaguely crack-y origins from a rewatch, having 108 kudos. Then comes hidden affections with 98 kudos, which is an aos 7x03 fic, and I just wanna make out (in my car), another mfmm fic, with 91 kudos. Finally the only peggysous fic to make the list, and I suspect only because it’s been up so long, and the other fandoms are so comparatively bigger, A Mild Panic, or that time Peggy kissed Daniel with her brand on at 87 kudos, which I had honestly forgotten about.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Yeah! People are so nice!
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Probably stolen affections (thwarted by time), which is a peggysous fic which is also aos s7 canon compliant, so it forced my hand rather 😅 my dubious superpower is being unable to write angst without hope at the end!
7. Do you write crossovers?
not really? I don’t like to read them, and not many of my fandoms overlap in that way; the exception to this is I stole aurora australis’ crossover for a prompt for her once - the view from the top.
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
Somewhere in the depths of ff.net is an NCIS Abby/McGee fic that I abandoned after someone left a hate comment, which actually meant I abandoned fanfiction writing totally for a couple of years, but it can stay lost lolol
9. Do you write smut?
Yes, I do! I mean, *gestures vaugely in the direction of Phryne and Jack*, it just comes so easily from the source material! I also apparently fit into the stereotype of “asexual people that write good smut”.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of!
11. Ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I translated my own fic from English into German, as practice for myself.

With my irl friend who also likes Agent Carter, yes!

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
As with many things, what purpose does it serve the story to have it in that other language. So if you can’t work out what they’re saying from context, why is it there? I find translations to be clunky in fic, because there is not the same footnoting opportunities like there is in a print book, asterisks attached to translations in the end notes are a lot of work for the reader, and parentheses break the flow, so if it does nothing for the story to have them actually speaking the other language, why have it in?
It’s different if you know your audience, eg if you’re prompted and you know that person speaks the other language, but when just writing fic, your audience is pretty general, so you have to cater to the ‘lowest common denominator’, for want of a better phrase.
(apparently I have a lot of thoughts about this)
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Agent Carter, if we don’t count that Cursed™ NCIS fic… now that I’m thinking of it, there’s probably also some Jenny/Gibbs fic buried deep in the stacks of paper in my room. Never to see the light of day.
19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?
That’s like asking me to choose between my children! I think it changes every time I publish a new fic, but at the moment it’s a toss up between for the better and Untitled Goose Fic!

British Slang
A couple of days ago I got an ask from a lovely anon who seemed to be interested in the phrases and slang that we have here, so I thought that I would make a list of my top 20 favourite words that I use either daily or more often than I should... thought I’d tag @mrskamilxh and @bloodboundismylife in this - apologies for the awful explanations! 😂
1. Innit
An abbreviated version of ain’t it/isn’t it; this one is a very common addition to my vocabulary, and one that my parents pick out when I use it whilst talking to them.
2. Barney
Normally used when referring to an argument or a fight i.e. ‘we had a barney last night’.
3. Rank
Gross; used to refer to something that is downright disgusting and something that you dislike.
4. Bagsy
When you’re trying to call dibs on something; for example, if I was to ‘bagsy’ the last packet of crisps, then I’d be laying claim to them.
5. Chinwag
A term for chat eg. ‘fancy a chinwag?’
6. Jim Jams
Another way of referring to pyjamas.
7. Gobsmacked
Shocked and/or surprised.
8. Miffed
One of my favourites by far; used when someone is annoyed or angry about something.
9. Chuffed
Pleased, proud or delighted about something; ‘I’m well chuffed with that!’ would be my way of telling you that I’m really happy with it.
10. Dodgy
Another word for ‘sketchy’ or suspicious’; if I was to say that something I brought was dodgy, it would mean that I find it untrustworthy.
11. Grim
Unattractive or dull; ‘that is grim.’
12. Chockablock
When something is ‘chockablock’, it means that it is full of something. For example, if I was to say that a supermarket car park was chockablock, it means that it was full of cars.
13. Codswallop
Another way of saying that something is a complete load of NONSENSE!
14. Gormless
Less positive than most of the others, usually used to refer to someone who is foolish or ‘lacks intelligence’.
15. Gutted
When the word ‘sad’ doesn’t quite reflect your devastation.
16. Knackered
It basically means tired or sleepy, yet more extreme.
17. Minted
When someone hear says that they or someone they know are ‘minted’, it means that they’re ‘well off’ or rich.
18. Banter
A term that is used to mean that something is a joke or a comment that someone says is made in jest, but isn’t always the case.
19. Have a gander
When someone has a ‘gander’, it means that they have a very good look at something.
20. Bob’s your Uncle
Another way to say that you’ve achieved something/got the desired outcome i.e. ‘you’ve got it!’

Observations:
I think the biggest takeaway from this is that my openers are not complicated. They’re not overly dramatic. They’re not the attention-grabbing hooks that you’re taught to use in school. When I was younger, I really latched onto the idea that the first sentence of a story had to be this big, dramatic set piece, and that if the reader wasn’t immediately dragged into action, then they wouldn’t care, but my understanding of first sentences has evolved significantly.
I no longer see them as a hook with which you drag the reader in. They’re like a handshake or that first step over the threshold when you’re entering a stranger or acquaintance’s home for the first time. It’s about introducing you to a vibe, more than anything. Sometimes, that vibe comes in the form of how a character is relating to a situation (eg, Katniss despising the house), sometimes it comes in the form of worldbuilding (eg, Catra and Adora being born into and raised for war), sometimes it’s putting pieces into place for an encounter in the first scene (eg, Bedelia lounging), and sometimes it’s the introduction of an aesthetic or a motif (eg, stars in the Doctor’s eyes).
My other primary takeaway is that so many of my first lines aren’t intended to be read in isolation. I write lyrically, so my sentences tend to flow into each other and build, and taking them out of context dulls the impact a lot. Probably the best example of this is the opening of “A Seduction.” The first line is “Joining the dark side is not a sudden turn or a downward fall.” When read in isolation, it’s fine. Like, it’s serviceable, but it’s only part of the opening thought. When you take it in whole though, it becomes:
Joining the dark side is not a sudden turn or a downward fall. It's an intimate courtship -- one step forward and two steps backwards -- a dance so slow that at first, you hardly realize that you're doing it.
It is a seduction.
And that is the way it’s meant to be read. It gives a clearer picture, and the impact is in that third sentence. It’s a trio, not a solo act.

top klaine headcanons?
omg yes i love this!!! okay keep in mind that probably most of these i’m coming up with on the spot but we still stan.
1. blaine is a die hard katy perry stan. i don’t make the rules. but he probably has been to one of her concerts at least once. ESPECIALLY in the warbler days and went to her teenage dream tour when she had the whole happy candyland thing going on with the lollipop bra (i think teenage dream was what it was called??? i don’t know enough about katy perry). and he still listens to her new singles now and is really excited she’s pregnant
2. blaine has family problems. i feel like they hinted this so much in cannon
3. kurt would get famous writing shitty wattpad fanfiction (he’s probably written some lets b real)
4. kurt would do fashion as a job rather than acting - i feel like his whole energy at vogue was so cool
5. the amount of hairgel blaine wore each series reflected his stress. like in season two he was more chill with meeting kurt etc and being with his besties and then as things got more crazy (eg season 4/5) he has to keep some sense of normality or something (i’ve forgotten the words but i hope you get what i mean) in his life because everything else is out of control so he needs to feel like he has control of something... my babie :(
6. blaine still keeps in touch with his warbler friends. i’m really sad that they didn’t make some of the warblers blaine’s main friends tbh... they were like the pontipines from in the night garden... they kinda just existed in a massive group but we never got to know them LMAO
7. nick and jeff from the warblers are together. and yes this is inspired by ‘a fresh start’ by pickingviolets. they were cute together in it i don’t make the rules. niff are endgame periodt. and they’d be like unproblematic high school sweethearts :’)
8. blaine’s family is like... uptight, old money. tom buchanan vibe (but not as bad as him jesus) they probably also own horses and play polo. i feel this

12. if blaine was a teenager in 2020 he would be an indie boy because i literally do not know one teenager who would wear bowties in this day and age. and i know this was to make his character more defined but his whole personality already fitted the indie vibe so like pls can we just change his hair and clothes a bit
13. dalton is a boarding school (lets just add on to the whole blangst family problems where they don’t really make an effort to keep in touch with him)
14. when they become famous (so 2020) blaine DEFINITELY reads fanfictions of him and kurt. he’s probably read the really long emotional ones (eg. atog, in my place) and there has been real tears. then kurt catches him and blaine’s just happy that nothing that tragic has happened to them
15. kurt probably is really stressed about lockdown whereas blaine’s more laid back and enjoys being inside
16. their baby would be a girl who is hella talented and has lovely curly hair (blaine and rachel’s genes) because of blaine’s curly hair. also i feel like when she’s older she’d get so annoyed at kurt because he probably wants to have a big say in her fashion choices. “sweetie, i love you very much... but patterned leggings and skirts are just not acceptable anymore. come on, you’re 12.” but he’s also a very good dad and is really good at teaching her important stuff about feminism and equality etc. i feel like blaine is a way more laid back dad whereas kurt is more strict

I’m glad that when you even LOOK at me you think ‘oh sleep time’ I am Pavlov and you are my dog and this metaphor is stupid I will answer your question now
I’m gonna... assume this is uhh pre-story question because I know for a fact that at least three characters would change their answer to at least one question if it was post-story. My house, my rules.
Keaton’s most significant memory is p r o b a b l y the time when he was in year 12 (17), and he was called to the head of sixth form office. He’d been at this school since year 7 (11), and had realised he was trans in year 8 (12/13), and had then been fighting for the right to use his bathroom ever since. This had previously resulted in punishment. In year 10 (15), he made progress, being allowed to use the disabled bathroom, but he wanted the men's bathroom dammit.
Anyway, called to head of sixth form, assumed it was related to that issue. Pessimistic about the whole ordeal.
Turned out there was another student in like year 9 who had come out as trans as well, and the school had gone ‘UHHHHHHHHH LET’S DO BETTER THIS TIME’ so Keaton, being the only other trans student in this rural Norfolk school, was assigned as her... mentor??? I guess?
He was half like ‘fuck y’all’ and half like ‘I will not let this young woman go through the same shit you all put me through, I will guard her like a HAWK’. He was still not allowed to use his bathroom, but he makes her fight a little easier; she’s allowed to use her bathroom in year 10, after he left. They still meet up every now and then for coffee.
Memory to be rid of: First day on a Professional Set, he walked backwards whilst taking a tea order and fell into a bin. Terrible first impression. He still got jobs afterwards, but sometimes people will be like ‘oh yeah I’ve heard of you you’re the bin guy’ and he wants to punch them.

I know you’re here for Mika so I’ll go to them, most significant memory: probably his first pride? He didn’t intend to go to pride, but he was in the city on the day of pride and just walked past all these rainbows and flags and people being so open and proud and themselves. He was maybe fifteen, and had been having those fun Gender Feels that you try and hide at age fifteen, because you’re only fifteen and most people tell you you’re not old enough to know anything about yourself, yknow?
Someone gave him a flyer at one point, and when he got back to his Ultra Christian Household, he hid it and would read through it some nights. When he had it memorised, he started to explore more about queerness online. He’s the guy who can tell you all about LGBT history due to this research. This was only done in the city on the library computers, where his trail couldn’t be tracked. It gave him some sort of start for labels, some sort of safe space, some sort of New Approach to everything he’d been feeling.
Memory to be rid of: last day in Ultra Christian School. He was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school and it wasn’t awful until he was about fourteen, at which point he started to grow his hair. They told him to cut it constantly. He was punished for it. He kept the hair.
It got bad but it wasn’t until he was about seventeen that it really buckled; first real notable psychotic episode. He told people, they were convinced it was some sort of possession, convinced he’d sinned, convinced of all these horrible things about him and drove him out until he could ‘act normally’ again. He did not go back.
In all honesty, the second he turned 18, he took his savings from various dead grandparents and a part-time job, bought a second-hand (maybe third-hand) camper-van and left home.
He goes back for Christmas only.
Mooooving on, Lynne! Who I do not talk about enough; she’s also part of the documentary squad, and actually the reason the whole squad exists. Producer and director, she’s very cool okcoolthanks
Most significant memory: That one time she was thirteen and her parents had officially declared their divorce. She was living with her dad and it was really, really weird and she was not enjoying it. Divorce is a big deal to some families, and this family was one of them, and she was really unsure about her entire future.
Cue Mika, young and mostly obedient, kicking down the door (not literally) and kidnapping her (again, not literally) to come pick blackberries with him (very literally). They stayed out until the sun went down in early Autumn. She forgot about the divorce for a small amount of time. They ended the day eating fish and chips straight from the paper whilst sitting in a tree and talking about nothing important at all.
They made jam out of the blackberries the next day. It was gross. Both of them refused to admit it was gross.
Memory to be rid of: She went camping one time with friends from school. Lynne is Muslim and so did not go to Catholic school with Mika, they just lived near each other, and so school friends went ‘hey we’re going camping you should come’ she did come.
It was a mess. They were fifteen and determined to drink, and English peer pressure to drink is weird, so she did take some drink but didn’t drink it. Someone threw up on her tent and blamed it on her. No-one bought any food or water, the only thing she was able to drink was lemonade bought for mixing and that had ants in it within two hours.
She woke up first and left them all there, then walked home because she was meant to be lift-sharing. It took an hour and a half. She preferred that to being in the car.
That group wasn’t her only group of friends, but it was her main group, so things were awkward for a while.
Moving on from Documentary Squad, Percival! Percy Percival who I wish I could call Percy because it’s so much easier to write.
Significant memory: winning an art contest when he was like. Eleven. Really living the high-life, ol’ Percival. It was a city-wide contest, with various age categories. He was part of the 11-18 clump, which put him at a disadvantage, but he still won. As a reward, his art was replicated on a mural in one of the shopping malls in town, and he got some fancy vouchers for a fancy art shop in the city.
Winning the art contest made him go ‘oh wait I’m actually good at this thing I really like doing I should learn how to do that more’ and you could barely pry him away from his sketchbook from that point on.
Those vouchers were stored away until he was 14 and doing art GCSE, at which point he bought a nice sketchbook and oil paints. He’s now very good at oil painting. I hate him for being good at oil painting. Oil painting SUCKS.
Memory to be rid of: I’m torn between three and they’re all similar so I’ll go for all of them.
#1 - losing an eye to Abby’s experiments. You read the lil short story I think (I know I checked just now) - she’s a very kind and loving sister who sometimes moves his body parts around. One time, he lost an eye and went blind for a few weeks. He had nightmares about it for months. It was very painful.
#2 - losing a finger. To Abby’s experiments. It was the middle finger on his left hand and it didn’t go back into place quickly enough - now it’s always numb and discoloured. Good news is he’s right-handed and not a musician so no worries about losing dexterity on that hand.
#3 - losing two ribs. To Abby’s experiments. There’s a very clear trend here. She wanted to try moving things she couldn’t see around. She moved two ribs away. She decided it was more dangerous to put them back. Now they just have two of Percival’s ribs lying around.

On that note, final person, this is very long. Abby! She’s fun. Most significant memory;
okay the word ‘significant’ has caught me off-guard several times cause like wow how do you figure out significant memories for people. I don’t have just one, yknow? But I think I know one for her.
She’s the eldest out of her and Percival and, for a while, people wanted her to set an example for him, which she tried to do, but she wasn’t good at what people wanted her to be good at. She’s good with people. She’s good at very specific parts of biology. She’s good at psychology. She’s not good at school and tests.
So, when Percival started to beat the standards she set for him, her parents almost... egged competition on. Played favourites, compared the two siblings. Nobody really noticed what she could do, they only cared about what she struggled with. And the parents were rarely around to help out with what she was struggled with. So she struggled on and tried to keep her head high.
Cue a family wedding, she was snooping around the snack table at the reception and overheard her parents talking about her. And how they were almost disappointed in her. How they were annoyed that she couldn’t be more like Percival, honestly, what did they do wrong?
She got bitter. She pretends she doesn’t care but she’s bitter, and with no parents around to lash out at, she lashes out at Percival, who isn’t even aware. Good times. Not good times. Significant times.
Memory to be rid of: Honestly? Probably hearing her parents talking about her at the family wedding. It stings.

This is for Nonbinary November, I'll reblog this post with a link to the person who came up with this ask game and with a link to the blog I mention in a later question
1) Which labels do you use? I use nonbinary, trans, agender. I also use aroace but that's not really relevant to this month!
2) What are your pronouns? Honestly who knows. I use they/them, I MAY be interested in xe/xem but I don't know yet because I haven't been able to convince anyone to use those pronouns for me when I'm fine with they/them - it's possible the first time I heard someone refer to me as "xe" I'd realise I hate it. Or, realise I love it. Anyway rn I use they/them
3) How old were you when you came out to yourself as nonbinary? 15 or 16? I think 16
4) What's one thing you'd like to tell your younger self? hey I know you don't think you like yourself rn but I promise that's not true, you're okay, and when you figure out the real reason you're uncomfortable everything will make so much more sense. You'll be okay, there's nothing wrong with the situation or with you
5) is there a myth about nonbinary people that annoys you the most? Okay. As an agender person I would be part of the party benefiting from this I guess, but a lot of people seem to assume that there's only three genders: male, female, and agender. And that nonbinary is just a synonym for agender. This is obviously incorrect and even though I'm kind of mildly, guiltily glad that I'm not among the nonbinary people omitted by this assumption, it still pisses me off immensely because it's so dumb and it's just further bigotry and bullshit. Luckily this is one myth that seems to be almost entirely due to lack of knowledge rather than actual malicious intent!
6) is there a nonbinary celebrity you look up to? Nope, celebrities don't exist as far as I'm concerned.
7) if you're out, how did you come out? I'm out to my friends - I came out via a rambling, thinking aloud monologue to one friend then to all of them in a more coherent but still rambling announcement during a chat. I am also out to two of my family members but I honest to goodness can't remember how I came out - I do remember one hysterical conversation with my dad in which I was irrationally convinced he wouldn't love me anymore if I changed my name; I hope to fuck that's not how I came out to my dad and brother
8) is there a gender-related pun you like? Nah. I like all the misplaced my gender and traded my gender for x jokes though
9) Do you have friends who identify as nonbinary, too? Nope! Most of my friends are cis, a minority are binary trans people. I wish I had fellow enby friends
10) Do you have a favourite lgbt+ character? Are we talking canon or fanon? I love Crowley and Aziraphale because we can dump a whole lot of lgbt+ stuff on them: aro and or ace, gay, bi/pan, male, trans, nonbinary/genderweird....I also like some takes on nonbinary Beezlebub, but only some. Specifically the ones where they're not particularly evil/malicious but are most definitely a dick, because that feels very humanizing somehow which is nice.
11) Lgbt, lgbt+, lgbtqa+...which one do you tend to use? The last one, though if I'm tired and I've already used that once in convo I'll use lgbt after because it's less effort to say/type and they know what I mean
12) how do you explain the term "nonbinary" to people who have no idea what it means? Badly! With a lot of "um" and "uh" and eventually saying "well it's when you're not 100% male OR 100% female only"
13) Tell us a fun fact about yourself! (Gender-related or random) I used to be able to understand French and German pretty well but lost this a few years after leaving primary school
14) How did you find your name? I found my name several years before I even realised I was nonbinary. I was using a baby names website to look at potential names for a story I wanted to write, and was looking at unisex names "because it's more convenient cos then I don't need to change it if the character's a girl or a boy". Sure mate, sure, whatever you need to tell yourself
15) If you're in a relationship...? N/A
16) Do you prefer partner, datemate, significant other, something else? I like all of those? SO is a bit long to say though and datemate feels very playful, I think I'd say that to tease my partner if I had one but not seriously. So. Partner
17) A piece of advice for questioning kids? If you're really stuck, start in very broad categories and look at what you're NOT, then gradually close in on what you are. Like, do you identify as male? Do you identify as female? Work from there in more detail eg if your answer to female is "no" and male is "wobbly hand gesture" then you can either say hey, good enough, or start looking at smaller labels and stuff
18) Which flag(s) do you use? To be honest I mostly just use the aro flag, on the basis that being ace doesn't feel that big a part of my identity, being agender feels like too much of a given to celebrate/take pride in, but the aromantic flag is very pretty
19) Any tips for bad days? Take care of yourself, fall back on your support network, see if there's any small thing you can do that will help boost your confidence
20) Do you have a favorite nonbinary blog on tumblr? Not sure if it counts but I love the corvidwritingprompts blog because the prompts are inspiring and hilarious, and I love the normalisation of neopronouns and nonbinary people
21) Feminine, masculine, androgynous...or none of those things? I'm comfortable with long-ish hair but tend to aim at more masculine-androgynous clothing to try and balance out any chance of people happily assuming I'm a woman. I love button-ups
22) What are your three favourite things about yourself? I have very nice, straight shoulder length hair which I love because it's pretty, I personally think it's pretty androgynous, and I don't really have to do anything to make it look good. I like that I'm a person who likes making things and doing things to show people I like them. I like that I'm a pretty fucking average height, it's much nicer than when I was tallest in my year, and I am also generally happy with my height it's good
