Chopra Household: Chapter 6, Part 9

Time for Savannah and Mercedes to head off for their first day of school while Cassandra battles a bug.

Cluckton: *crows* Hear ye, hear ye! First day of school for the kiddos

Squidge: *clucks* so what

Cluckton: *clucks* don’t sass me young lady, you’re still young enough to peck

The girls get up and ready. Since the lot has simple living turned on it’s leftovers for breakfast rather than cereal.

Rahul: Why are you in here Mercedes

Mercedes: I know mama is sick, I just want to tell her I love her before school

Rahul: The watcher won’t let her die from a cold, I promise

After a while Cassandra wakes and hugs Mercedes for good measure before heading for the shower.

Mercedes: Papa?

Rahul: Yes little ladybug

Mercedes: What if no one likes me at school

Rahul: What makes you think anyone wouldn’t like you

Mercedes: I get my words mixed

Rahul: Mercedes, you are a wonderful unique girl and anyone who can’t see that doesn’t deserve a friend as special as you

Mercedes: Are we still going to the doctor after school

Rahul: Yes, just to make sure your mama and I are doing everything we can to support you. Come on, I want a photo of my girls in their new uniforms

Here they are! Off to Henford public school, looking neat as pins. Savannah is excited and promises to stick with her more nervous twin for the day. They become best friends forever!

Rahul: What are you doing

Cassandra: Changing and feeding Viola

Rahul: But my darling you’re sick

Cassandra: Yes but I have the day off work now-

Rahul: Because you’re sick...

Cassandra: *sighs* fine big guy, I’ll nap, will that make you happy

Rahul: Yes please. Pass Viola here, I can watch over her for today

Cassandra: Thank you. I love you

Rahul: I love you to, say bye bye Viola. Can you say bye bye mama

Viola babbles but still no words yet. She stays in the back carrier while Rahul sorts out his own breakfast and washes up.

Rahul: You know green bean, you can’t keep quiet forever. You’ll have to talk to me some day

Viola: be la du du (bubbles tickle)

Rahul: Who wants duckie? Can you say duckie for papa

Viola: ah ah (duckie)

Rahul: Alright Viola. I have to take care of the animals for mama so you’ll have to stay on your playmat

Viola: ge lu doo (but that chicken is looking at me)

Rahul: Come one, come all! Food time friends! Food time!

Cluckton: *crows* you heard the man

Viola giggles and begins to play on her mat while the animals mill around her, bleating clucking and crowing at her. Rahul collects the eggs and discovers someone laid a golden egg! Not a hatchable one but a good sign for the future.

Rahul: Charlie! Are you here for a cutting of something

Charlie: Just wanted a break from the snow. The garden is going pretty good though

Rahul: I can’t believe you’re doing an indoor garden, surely that’s going against nature

Charlie: The saplings wouldn’t like the snow Rahul

Rahul: Still, there are plants that grow in the snow and-

Charlie: Umm… is your infant meant to look like that

Viola: *whimpers* de na loo (why do I hurt)

Rahul: Oh no! Viola, are you alright? Papa is here. Oh damn, Cass is sick, I better take her to the doctors just to be safe

Charlie: Feel better soon little one. Give my love to Cass yeah

Rahul: Will do. Come here green bean, up we go!

After her nap Cassandra is feeling brighter so decides to try and finish her latest piano song. After a while Rahul brings Viola in. Apparently the poor love has an ear infection. He’s given her the antibiotics but there’s not much else to do but wait. Cassandra tries to distract her with singing and playing and Viola manages to push herself up on all fours now and then.

After having a… moment when she arrived home, Mercedes goes with Rahul to the psychologist. Savannah meanwhile settles down to do her homework by the pile of presents that came in the mail. Rahul and Mercedes get home with the news that Mercedes is a gifted student. This will come with benefits and consequences. While Henford public school may be able to cater to her, there is the possibility of sending her somewhere more academic focused if that’s what she wants.

Savannah: Does this mean you’ll be the smartest kid in class

Mercedes: I don’t know, my words are still trippy (tricky)

Savannah: Not everything needs words though. Hey if you can understand math give me some help okay

Mercedes: I still have to be learned (taught) things first. But they said I might be able to get into a flash school

Savannah: Wait… then we’d be apart!

Mercedes: I didn’t say I would

Savannah: I mean I want you to be good but you’re my twin, I want to be with my bestie every day

Rahul: Girls! Dinner! Come and get it

Savannah: Papa does Mercedes have to go to a different school

Rahul: Not if she doesn’t want to

Mercedes: I don’t want to be away from Savannah

Rahul: Your mama has been too sick to talk to but I imagine she’ll agree it’s best to wait and see how you settle into Henford first

Savannah: Good! We had such fun tricking kids on the playground today

Rahul: *not amused* Did you now

Mercedes: Yes! We both imagined (pretended) to be one person

All Tomorrows: Vanga-Vangog Stickmen Hc’s

Say hello to Vanga’s Stickmen, the descendants of the infamously tall and frail Strider’s. Unlike in canon where they would all be devoured mercilessly by giant chickens, the Stickmen’s ancestors managed to survive by climbing and living on the giant, skyscraper-like trees of their world.

Although a little less tall than the Stickmen, they are much sturdier due to needing to jumping across different trees and survive falls. They communicated visually via the rapid changing of colors and shapes of their leaf-like growths and sign language, and their culture emphasized coexistence, patience, and pacifism.

As philosophical as the Pterosapien’s yet opposite in their overall message, the Stickmen are one of the most interesting fanmade species I’ve seen yet, and I wish to post my headcanons about them like I did for the others.

-Because of their very low metabolism’s and the wonders of medicine, Stickmen were among the longest-lived posthumans in the second empire, capable of living hundreds if not over a thousand years! Friendships with other, shorter-lived species would last long after death, with the Stickmen befriending their friends children and grandchildren, giving them sagely advice and wisdom or just cheerfully, casually talking to them.

-Because of their arboreal lifestyle and pacifism, the Stickmen did not have the same domestication process as other posthumans. They did not domesticate a wolf equivalent nor any grazing animals, instead domesticating giant, eagle-sized colonial bees for honey and other byproducts, giant pigeon descendants for the harvesting of feathers, infertile eggs, and as message carriers, and even a species of giant, flying pig descendants larger than the Quetzalcoatlus, who were often used to protect these pigeons and bees from any predators. Also domesticated colonial spiders for their webs, which they used to make ropes and clothing.

-Their domesticated plants were also different. They would carefully tend their trees for the harvesting of boulder-sized fruits and tree nuts, grow mushrooms via large, house-sized stacks of logs from trees which naturally passed away, and also grow algae in vast pools of shallow water. Outside of the algae, their foodstuff was bigger due to it having naturally evolved that way.

-Due to their need of visual communication, their clothing was usually light, never covering their heads, shoulders, or forearms. Their clothes would be made from mycelium threads, feathers from their domestic pigeons, and webs from their domesticated spiders. Yes, their shirts were always off-shoulder tops, teachers hate them!

-A running theme for these Hc’s is that they never developed capitalism, and the Stickmen were no different! In fact, most of their goods were handmade, carefully and delicately made over weeks or months to be as high of quality as possible, and gifted to close friends and family. Only absolute necessities such as medication, infrastructure, and purified water would not be homemade, and it would still be a careful process that emphasized the lack of harm to anyone, both their own and other species.

-This included movies and videogames, with practically zero in the way of crunch or abuse. The former of which would last hours if not days, and the latter would often resemble that of animal crossing, a tactical rpg ala Fire Emblem, or literally just Minecraft! No joke, they remade Minecraft on complete accident!

-Their art was primarily that of tattoos and body modifications to distinctive themselves, large-scale land art made from specially grown plants, fungi, stones, or non-toxic paint, meant to be appreciated fully from the top of treetops or skyscrapers, and gardens that allow for peaceful meditation. They had little music however, as sound travelled poorly in their world.

-They are one of the four founding species of the Second empire, along with the Satyriacs, Killer Folk, and Rot Eaters. They were stereotyped as spaced-out, yet extremely wise and peaceful, thought of as the mediators of the other 3 species. This, of course, was a stereotype, one that many Stickmen found a little insulting.

-Because of a culture emphasizing patience and the fact high gravity worlds would kill them, they decided on the extinct Lopsider’s idea of creating an artificial race to colonize the stars. Unlike with the Asymmetric’s however, it wasn’t a rash, cold-hearted process meant to create slaves to do dangerous, dirty work for them, but instead a slow, caring process that would go into the centuries, meant to be sure the Stickmen’s descendant species would have lives much better than their own, not struggle in the colonization of new planets, and modified to be superior in every way outside of height. (A given due to square-cube law) These people would be allowed to live free, independent lives from their parent species, and would pick a name for themselves. This name? The Sproutlings.

My small little headcanon is that Metal found Robotnik's Chao garden on-board the Egg Carrier from Sonic Adventure. The Chao mistook Metal for Sonic and clung to it and so it started taking care of the Chao.

A guide to Protection part 2

The moon is waning so what better time to do protection spells than now? (you can do protection magick whenever, I just like a little boost from the moon phase)

In my previous post I covered some warding methods and now I’m gonna go over some spell recipes

Protection oil

honestly, chef’s kiss, iconic, it’s probably my most used oil. You may apply some on your skin, anoint candles, talismans, charms, etc.

what you’re gonna need:

a carrier oil of your choice. Here are some of my favorites :

castor oil is great for absorbing negativity

coconut oil has protective properties

olive oil is an all purpose oil

sunflower oil

almond oil

essential oils:

some great essentials oils are lemon, peppermint, sage, frankincense, orange, cinnamon, benzoin and cedarwood

herbs:

cloves, basil, rosemary, garden sage, angelica, mint, bay leaves

Use whatever you have on hand, it doesn’t need to be expensive. Some of these ingredients are probably in your kitchen already.

I dropped in a small piece of tourmaline for some extra spice

After it was done I used a black yarn to tie a bay leaf around the jar

Black salt

Black salt is a must have in a witch’s apothecary and it’s fairly easy to make.

You’re gonna need a mortar and pestle to grind up the ingredients;

any kind of salt,

ashes from previous works or incense,

activated charcoal (it’s not necessary so don’t stress if you don’t have it around)

frankincense resin (again, not necessary)

crushed eggshells

While grinding the ingredients listed above make sure to focus on the intention of being protected, meditate on it if you can

You may sprinkle some black salt in the corners of your house, at your doorstep, anywhere really (don’t add salt to plant soil though)

Rosemary water

Rosemary can be used to cleanse your aura and promotes protection

Add rosemary leaves to a cup of boiling water and let it steep for about 20 minutes

Pour the infusion into a spray bottle and you’re done!

Given the fact that rosemary water is great for the scalp and stimulates hair growth I’d recommend this method of cleansing and protecting to people who are in the broom closet.

Eggshell spell

I don’t neccesarily enjoy making spell jars and I find using an eggshell instead of a jar really convenient (and cheap lol)

Cleanse the egg and add salt/ black salt and some protective herbs, one at a time, thinking about what each thing represents and how it relates to your intention. Seal it with wax and you’re done!

Kryten & F10-R4 (Flora)

Much like Kryten, this Chansey was found onboard a derelict, drifting alone in space! Unlike Kryten, however, she was still an egg at the time.

When Kryten brought the egg back to the Dwarf, Holly said there was very little chance of it being a viable egg, given how long it had sat drifting through space, but Kryten was a mech possessed by maternal instinct, and before long, he was going everywhere with the egg strapped to his chest in a baby carrier, incubating it with the heat from his own core and reading tome after tome about Pokémon egg care.

When the egg finally hatched into a happy healthy female Happiny, Kryten was overcome with joy, and he decided to name it something that may be a little old-fashioned, but he "just always thought it would be the most beautiful name for a baby girl! F10-R4!" (Pronounced 'F ten dash R four') And besides, he went to Toilet University with a dear friend called F10-R3, and this just seems like a fitting tribute!

Lister gently suggests the nickname 'Flora' might be easier for some members of the crew to get the hang of, since that's what her name looks like written down. "Besides," Lister says, "Flora means flower, right? And you once told me you wanted to grow a garden. Well, you've got your first flower, right there."

Kryten was so happy he literally cried his eyes out and Lister had to go chasing them down the hall.

As time goes on, Kryten finds that having a living thing that truly depends on him encourages him to break his programming more and more, as he learns he is willing to go against any of his coding if it means protecting his baby!

(Though once she evolves, she does most of the protecting. Especially once she becomes a Blissey and is probably the most powerful thing on the ship.)

She spends most of her time baking, and she is happy. She gets Rimmer to help her make a card for Kryten every Mother's Day. (Rimmer complains, but he is the best artist on the ship, and she is very hard to argue with.)

Chickin’ Up on Everybody

Farmtale Bros’ Introduction

Mornings were always a rush in Anne’s house. Skeletons hurried everywhere trying to get breakfast, get dressed, get ready for work, get out of the house! In the middle of the chaos, someone rang the doorbell.

“Somebody get that, please!” Anne called, trapped in the middle of making her lunch in the kitchen.

“Got it!” Captain called and Anne heard running feet heading for the front. There was a brief collision, a cry of “Sorry, brother!” and then the door opened. Amid the rest of the noise in the house, Anne clearly heard a cry of delight. “You’re back!!!!”

“We brought presents!” a new voice said. It sounded kind of like a Papyrus, but not one she’d heard before.

Curiosity overcame her and Anne hastily packed her half-made sandwich into her lunchbox and hurried to get to the door. She pushed past several other interested skeletons to Captain’s side. There on the porch were two skeletons wearing overalls, flannel shirts, and big grins. The Sans of the pair clutched a basket of various vegetables to his chest. The Papyrus held two carriers, each containing a chicken. When they saw her, they both grinned even wider.

“You must be Anne!” the Papyrus cried, setting his chickens down on the porch so he could reach out to shake her hand. “We’ve heard so much about you!”

“I haven’t heard anything about you,” Anne said, a bit flabbergasted. “Where did you two come from?”

“Technically, right now, somewhere in Kansas,” the Sans said, “but if you mean what universe, we been callin’ it Farmtale.”

“Of course. Well, um… don’t just stand there on the porch. You might as well come on in.”

“Yes, yes, come in!” Captain agreed. He and Comet stepped aside to let the newcomers inside.

It took a while, but eventually Anne got the new lads to sit in the living room (with the chickens still in their carriers, happily clucking away) and she fished some answers out of them. Their names were Sunny and Pumpkin. They came from a world where monsters had never been underground. Monsters and humans had a tentative peace and most monsters were happy to live among humans. They were peaceful folk, mostly working on farms. This particular pair had come through the machine back in the scattered days and had set up a homestead in Kansas. They worked hard to grow their own food and raise animals. Sunny was mostly in charge of the crops and Pumpkin the animals.

They’d come to visit once before (“you were visiting your parents”, Comet explained) and they’d really bonded with the Outertale boys, and the Horror boys. (Sansy and Sweets had left for the day already but the FT boys said they’d stay until dinner to see them.)

They’d come now to check in, share their fall harvest, and also set their “cousins” up with a few chickens of their own. That absolutely delighted Sweets, when he came home. He immediately began drawing up plans for an Epic Henhouse! Chickens meant eggs and, if the FT boys brought a rooster along, more chicks eventually. All of that meant food.

Sunny and Pumpkin said they’d bring a whole set of eggs to hatch in the spring and then the household could keep a rooster and another hen or two if you wanted. Sunny and Comet spent a lot of time in the garden and the greenhouse, talking plants, seeds, and growing methods. Pumpkin chatted with Sweets and Captain about his animals and everything to know about raising chickens.

Eventually the Farmtale boys did have to head home. It was only a shortcut away, though, and they promised they’d come back to visit again soon. “Y’all take care now,” Sunny said with a wave.

“It was real good to meet ya, Miss Anne,” Pumpkin added, giving her a hug before he headed down the steps. “Maybe one day you and all our kinfolk can come down and see the farm.”

“I think we can find a time to do that,” Anne agreed. She liked these lads! They were both so sweet.

i can't stop thinking about an sa1 remake that takes the best aspects of frontiers and improves upon them and integrates them into an expanded sa1 experience. the levels are integrated as a part of the map (some might be blocked off until later but some you can go to earlier if you want, you just aren't able to do the plot mission). everything is expanded and you're mostly free to go wherever you want as long as you can figure out a way to get there (frontiers is pretty 50/50 about this but it's at its best when it just lets you do shit and i hope they'll lean more into that). i wanna run around on the rooftops of station square i want a full-sized twinkle park i wanna go underneath the hotel into that parking garage that's so temptingly blocked off by an invisible wall HELL i just want to stand on the little overhang in the pool area!! i want more advanced chao gardens that are bigger and more elaborate and have more to do with your chao, i want to be able to explore any area with any character at least after their campaign is beaten and i can get there physically, i want to go into more buildings and i want to do side quests for npcs and scavenge the map for collectibles. IMAGINE what they could do with knuckles treasure hunting stages!! IMAGINE how they could improve the boss fights!! picture a version of final egg thats even more complex, and trying to navigate this massive eggman base (and going off of how awesome what little eggman tech was in frontiers looked, IMAGINE how sexy that level would be). red mountain and ice cap just being parts of angel island?? sky deck and hot shelter just being parts of the egg carrier??? THE LOST WORLD LEVEL WITH THE GIANT SNAKE IN THE WATER ROOM????

and the best part is that now i KNOW that if they were given enough time and resources, they would ABSOLUTELY be able to do what im picturing. the fact that frontiers is as good as it is when it only spent about 3 years in development with a team of about 60 people, and a lot of that time had to have been spent on the engine and fine tuning the physics and controls, which they can use as a framework in upcoming games. AND the next game will almost definitely will either be sonic adventure 3 or something akin to that based on some things that have been said in interviews, the setup for knux amy and tails to be going on solo adventures, and the fact that they're going to be included as playable characters in future dlc/update for frontiers. and that means they would potentially have even more to pull from and repurpose for an sa1 remake. the only factor id be worried about is what sega has always done and put too much pressure on sonic team and rushing them to meet deadlines, but hopefully since they let them delay frontiers and that went really well, they'll be more considerate towards the devs time. hopefully

They thought russians would not come here. Why do they need the small village of Yahidne, which has only four hundred inhabitants and five streets? A school abutting against pines, an egg well, an abundance of tall birches and broad-shouldered apple trees. Simple hardworking people and a lot of old people.

That's just the village was on the highway MO1.

Rashists turned from the side of the forest. Professionals, conscripts and Tuvans. Tanks were placed in the yards, armored personnel carriers - under the very windows. They settled themselves in style. On sofas, beds, on the stove. In the evenings - bonfires, barbecues, wine. Some changed into comfortable running shoes.

People were herded into a school basement with an area of ​​65 square meters and kept there for 25 days.

The basement answered in chorus: "For the sake of Varya."

The elderly began to die, and they were buried in batches of five. They were all laid in one grave. During the funeral, rashists opened fire. The living jumped to the dead. Four received injuries.

One nineteen-year-old girl was taken twice in an hour to be shot. Everyone wanted to clarify who owns the camouflage jacket found in the closet. - How are you now?

- Good. We glass windows, patch roofs, dry blankets. Here planted the potatoes. The pears have blossomed. And there, God willing, berries will go...
