Warden finds Jasper to be exhausting, honestly. Can you imagine trying to collect a bounty on someone, and they won't stop hitting on you the whole time?? He drives him crazy. 😂 He would have decided the bounty wasn't worth it a long time ago if it hadn't become a matter of pride at this point. Jasper doesn't mind being chased around by a big handsome wolf, he finds it entertaining, if anything.

As for his parents? Rouge thinks it's cute. 😆 Baby's first wanted poster!! Knuckles is less enthusiastic, he wishes Jasper wouldn't cause so much trouble, and he worries about him getting hurt. Jade doesn't really care either way, she's happy to see her brother having fun! However, if she saw Warden actually trying to hurt her brother he would have her to deal with. Eggman has found out she is not the pacifist he originally thought her to be when he tried to use Jasper as a hostage in the past!

Okay, so.

Sonic gets killedcaptured by Eggman, Tails goes MIA, Rouge finds out Sonic is alive on the Death Egg, they rescue him, yadda yadda, we all know the drill.

And of course, once Sonic is free he's looking for his little brother. He's not there, but his friends tell him he's just been over somewhere else, doing his best to help and no, he can't contact him right now because he's spying/going undercover whatever and him calling Tails would jeopardize the mission and of course he wants to talk to him but he understands it's important and it's not like they would lie to him, especially right after escaping Eggman, riGhT?

Well, fast forward to the final battle.

Of course, Sonic is still kind antsy because he still haven't seen Tails and they keep telling him Tails is still on the mission whenever he asks and then he gets pulled into helping the Resistance and the thought kinda slips his mind with everything going on and plot twists happening at every occasion (Chaos, Shadow, Metal and Zavok weren't real but clones created by Infinite? like, who would have guessed!) and before he knows it the Resistance is making their final stand, Infinite defeated, Mobius saved from being burnt-slash-hit by the sun and if only they could find Eggman-

Suddenly a huge hologram of the man himself appears on the sky. Figures he turned tail and ran like a coward he was, probably only appearing for his usual "you might have won this time, but next time it'll be my victory" routine.

But Sonic isn't ready for what the man says. He is ready, when Eggman's hologram switches to a video recording. He's not ready when he sees Tails, his little brother. Bloodied. Bruised. Fur stuck together, some patches missing entirely. Forced to his knees. Shock collar clipped around his neck. Arms, legs, even his tails chained together so he wouldn't escape.

Amy lets out a strangled gasp behind Sonic and he turns, staring right at her. In her eyes, in all of his friends' eyes he can see it.

They knew. They knew and they have been lying to him.

Maybe they didn't know Eggman had him, the shock and terror is genuine, but they fucking knew Tails wasn't with them. They knew he was missing and they didn't do anything!

"Your turn, Sonic," Eggman says, his hologram once more switching with the recording, but it doesn't take away the image of his little brother broken by the same man now staring down at him.

Sonic looks up at the hologram, flames burning in his eyes. He's gonna find him. He's gonna drag the man from whatever hole he buried himself in this time and he's going to make damn sure he never tries to mess with his family again!

Remember that Sonic X episode where Sam challenged him to a race and it appeared to be a tie so they checked the slowed recording frame by frame? Yeah, he does stuff like that on the regular. This is what happens when a silly teenager who loves having fun is given super speed

He'll infiltrate Eggman's base and make faces at every security camera while running past them. They're a little secret 'gift' if Eggman or Metal ever reviews any footage

He'll be like a little cryptid ghost urban legend in places where he never frequents but shows up in the group photos of teams like them unsolved mystery pics where a person who's supposed to be dead is in picture taken after their death kinda deal but like, more cool than scary.

What is Sonic the hedgehog doing at our wedding? Why is he amongst the graduates? Etc. Most of the people don't mind getting photo bombed by Sonic, they are instead excited.

The people who'd actually be most annoyed are his closest friends because his bombs in such pictures are so hilarious and half the time his expressions are those of a little menace enjoying causing them misery. (He's reclining over the Master Emerald in the picture Knuckles had asked Tails to be taken for commemoration and record. He's grinning evilly from behind with mints in hand as Tails captured some images for his video's thumbnails. He's blowing a raspberry at Abraham Tower in the official picture of Team Dark receiving some award. He's playing dead in the background of his friends' selfies, he's moonwalking on Tails' live stream and disappears before Tails reaches the lounge, he teams up with Charmy to ruin Espio's timer photos of cool ninja poses, he shows up in one of the images of Amy's picnic with half the deserts gone and stuffed mouth while giving a deer in headlights look at the camera, she turns around after checking the photo and nothing is there but half the deserts are gone. )

since you’ve been drawing young robotnik lately I had an idea for the merman au: what if he saw/briefly met a merperson as a kid? I imagine no one would’ve believed him at the time (I could also see the other kids bullying him for “making it up”) which caused him to be stubborn abt it for decades and led to his current-day study of them.

It was a rare day where the kids at Ivo's orphanage were awarded a beach day. No one ever bothered to teach Ivo how to swim, however, so he wasn't planning on getting too close to the water until his towel got taken away by the wind. What he saw that day by the water's edge changed him forever, though, instilling in him a life-long interest in marine biology.

IAN FLYNN: Well, first of all, deepest condolences. KYLE: Yes. IAN: Um, I would normally not want to answer in the way of a character, but this is your personal request, so I guess that takes the 'taboo' off it. KYLE: [chuckles] IAN: Uh, Sonic I don't think would give any kind of fatherly advice; he would let you figure out your own answer and be there for you as you figure it out on your own. He's gonna let you take that journey, but he's going to be there as you do it. Um, Amy would likewise- I don't know if she would give advice, but she would be there to console, to offer words of support, to be someone to listen, or to just talk so you don't have to think for a bit. She would do whatever you needed her to do at the time. Eggman... KYLE: [chuckles] IAN: We're gonna- we're gonna go the wholesome route this time, even if it is slightly out of character. [Eggman] would go on some long spiel about the entropy of the universe, and how everything is finite, and 'dust to dust' and yadda yadda. But you are still here, and that's what's important. You continue on the chain reactions that are life, so while that experiment is ended, you are the results that are continuing to create results! So, keep at it. And then kind of an awkward shoulder pat and wanders off. KYLE: [Eggman voice] "And soon, you will be part of the Eggman Empire anyways, so it does not matter!" IAN: [chuckles] Knuckles would kind of nod solemnly and say, "That's rough, buddy." KYLE: Yeah! [laughs] That is rough, buddy. It is very rough, buddy. IAN: But he means it! So it means something! KYLE: I mean, yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Tails? IAN: I don't know if Tails would know what to say. He would want to be- KYLE: I think Tails would be kind of lost, but he would try. IAN: He'd want to be encouraging, yeah. He'd want to be encouraging and supportive, but I think he'd feel a little overwhelmed with the responsibility. KYLE: Yeah... IAN: Um, Vector would start to mumble something that might sound... interesting, maybe? He kind of starts and stops his sentences every few seconds, then says, uh, [Vector voice] "Espio, tag in!" KYLE: [laughs] IAN: Then Espio starts getting kinda philosophical, and kinda loses his own train of thought, and goes quiet for a second. [Espio voice] "Charmy, tag in!" And then Charmy offers you ice cream. KYLE: [chuckles] I mean, I would appreciate all three of them, so yeah. That's wholesome. [after a pause] Hm... would Silver be, like...? IAN: I think Silver would be devastated. I think he values life on a personal level even more so than anyone else. KYLE: Okay, okay. IAN: Um, 'cause he- I think he has a better understanding of loss than any of the cast, to be perfectly honest. Sure, Knuckles is on his own, but he doesn't have any memory of what came before. That's kind of just his status quo. It's more of an existential thing. Silver... Silver has seen devastation. He has seen tragic loss and, y'know, impossible odds. So I think he would hold everything a little- every life a little more sacred. So I don't know if he would be able to impart any words of wisdom, but he would definitely be the most openly and, uh, earnestly sympathetic. KYLE: Mhm. Alright, I think that's enough, though... There's definitely many other characters we could ask, but that's enough for now.

And yes, she will find out eventually. 👀 I imagine Eggman will kind of be a catalyst for her finding out, as he will take interest in not only her existence, but also the massive energy signatures she gives off. He'd realize that she was another attempt at perfecting his grandfather's work pretty quickly, despite Sonic and Shadow trying their best to keep her existence a secret from him.

It'd be his attempt to use Stellar's power for his own gain that would kick off a lot of trouble. Being a science project wouldn't bother Stellar all that much since Shadow is one as well, but the idea that she is basically a living weapon would REALLY upset her. Stellar is a very loving, friendly, and noble person at her core, so the thought that she is basically a walking bomb would shake her up pretty badly.

What kind of stuff did Nicky go through to become Sonic/such a drastically different person? And how long did it take for him to embrace Sonic as his new identity?

I don’t have the specifics of the torture, brainwashing and conditioning he went through with Eggman nailed down unfortunately, mostly cuz the methods aren’t really as interesting to me as the emotional and psychological progression of how it happens but safe to say it was painful, intense, and even Sonic doesn’t remember much of the experience

On psychological level Eggman had been manipulating and slowly brainwashing Nicky from the moment they met, so more accurately he was being brainwashed for a year + 6 months before fully embracing who he was as Sonic and he did so by encouraging an obsession and attachment to him so great that Nicky would lose sight of who he actually was and become whatever Eggamn wanted him to be

Nicky’s internship was the perfect opportunity to get the obsession ball rolling and have him associate him with positive emotions, to have the kid open up to him, to make him think that he had a connection to him that no one else had and then get him hooked on it by isolating himself from his friends by filling his head with little doubts so Eggman would be his main confidant and adding some hatred for society as a whole to make it even more effective

Then after kidnapping Nicky, Eggman used all he learnt of the kid to manipulate him, to further confirm his doubts and insecurities and make him look like he was the only one who saw past those flaws, the only one he had, the only one who still cared all of that, who saw his potential to be something greater mixed with good old-fashioned drugs and torture to really fuck with his head and some very confusing mixed signals of gentleness so he would associate him not just with pain

The result was a mixed bag at first, Nicky was responding to it but for the most part he was very resistant, some hope still there that people were looking for him, that they’d find him, take him away from here.

But then that hope was crushed three months when he watched the live footage of his funeral proceedings and it sunk in that no one was coming. That he was alone.

Well… not alone… he had the doctor with him

From there Sonic became more attached to him, more willing to do bad things for him, more willing to do anything for him

The obsession basically spiralled out of control and here we are

Tails comes home badly injured. Something he made blew up, but Sonic thinks it's Eggman's fault.

Eggman has, for once, not been involved in any way to Tails' injury, but Sonic is convinced that it's his fault somehow, because his little bro could've died

The truth comes out eventually, but that doesn't change the fact that Sonic almost completely snapped. Oh, and Tails does make a full recovery, of course.

Your honor that kid is grounded. No tinkering for a month. He'll have to instead suffer the stern lectures followed by relieved protective hugs and then doting and chill days and movie nights

And Eggman just dodged a bullet.
