A nuanced opinion about fiction and reality:

When everyone knows something is a bad idea (like murder, abuse, that kinda shit.) you should be able to portray it in fiction however you like! Nobody's gonna go "I saw murder so I wanna kill a bitch!"

But when something isn't common knowledge (niche medical information, specific customs from other cultures) you either have an obligation to portray it accurately to the best of your ability, or to tell the readers that you AREN'T portraying it accurately.

- ray shields walks miles down the aisle
