Eight of Earth. Art by ablob, from the Of Folk & Fable Tarot.
I drew Ox-Head and Horse-Face for @folkloretarot! They escort the recently deceased to the courts of hell to be judged. You may see pictures of them pasted on doors for protection :)
Hard-working guardians of hell. Their main job is to escort (and sometimes capture) souls of the recently deceased and bring them to the court of hell to be judged. Got beaten up by the Mokey King once. Area of Origin: East Asia (Ancient China + neighbors)

This was a card made for Moon Prism Tarot! I drew Ami vs. Viluy for the Eight of Crystals (or Pentacles/Coins). It was such an honor to be part of this project! Although the KS is over, keep an eye on their twitter as they may have extras for sale later!

Eight of Pentacles
Tumblr media
“The Eight of Pentacles card depicts a young man who is etching a pentacle shape into the eight golden coins. The card symbolizes someone who is completely focused and absorbed in what they are doing. The town that is far in the background means that he successfully isolated himself from the distractions so that he can fully concentrate on his task. The Eight of Pentacles refers to that moments in your life when you are dedicated to completing a certain task. You are fully-immersed, and you are committed in delivering the best version of your work.“

when/how did you get into dabihawks was it fandom influenced or did you get into it yourself?
I got into it myself when I picked up the manga after season 5! Dbhx is one of those ships that made me assume it’s mainly fanon self-indulgence, but then I read the previous arcs and connected all the dots (I never rlly got to know hawks pre-s5) and there’s actually so many parallels and such ugh… fated yaoi enemies for real

Reales, pieces of eight, doubloones and ducats
Who doesn't know it, in films and books there are always stories about great pirate treasures and lots of coins are shown. But what kind of coins are they? Here is a small overview.
Silver real
Tumblr media
Silver coin: 8 reales Fernando VI, Viceroyalty of New Spain - 1757 (x)
The real was a coin and a currency in Spain for several centuries after the mid-14th century, weighing 0,12 ounces (3,43g) of silver, and these were eight reales to a peso, hence the term " pieces of eight" for pesos.
Silver piece of eight or Spanish Dollar
Tumblr media
Spanish piece of eight, 1780 (x)
Was an early Spanish silver dollar sized coin, with a content of 25.563 g = 0.822 oz t fine silver. As Spanish mints issued silver denominations smaller than eight reales relatively infrequently, these coins would sometimes be chopped up into smaller pieces to provide small change. In the 17th and 18th centuries, so many were in circulation that they were accepted almost anywhere in the world. The American doller sign $ was derived from the figure 8 stamped on the side of the piece of eight, the silver peso (or piaster). They were minted at Mexico City and Lima in Peru, and were common currency in all of England's colonies, being valued at four shillings and sixpence. Often they wre cut into eight pieces for ease of transaction, so that two bits made a quarter. The origin of the American phrase, not worth two bits, is from the days when the English colonies around Massachusetts used this Spanish money. Pieces of eight were produced for about 300 years, in Mexcio, Peru and Colombia, and they became the standard unit of trade between Europe and China. They wre legal tender in the USA until 1857. Before the Spanish started exploiting Potosi in Peru (in today's Bolivia), silver was almost as valuable as gold in the Old World. Such were the quantities taken from the New World, that silver dropped to about a 1/5 of the value of gold. The Spanish exported four billion pesos of silver and gold from the New World between 1492 and 1830.
Gold ducat
Tumblr media
Gold ducat of Venice. Doge Andrea Gritti, Italy, 1523-38 (x)
This was the European gold trade coin, containing around 3.5 grams (0.11 troy ounces) of 98.6% fine gold, during the late medieval and early modern period. The name derives from ducatus, the Latin form of the title of the Doge of Venice, whre the ducat was first issued 1284. Called the ducado, it was worth less than a doubloon, about 10-11 silver reales, and was known to the British seaman as a ducat. The coin was copied throughout mainland Europe, and coins of the ducat standard were struck in several European countries up to the 20th century.
Gold doubloon (doblôn)
Tumblr media
Spanish 4-doubloon, or doubloon of 8 escudos, stamped as minted in Mexico city mint in 1798 (x)
This was an early Spanish gold coin, worth approximately $4 (four Spanish dollars) or 32 reales, and weighing 6.766 grams (0.218 troy ounce) of 22-karat gold (or 0.917 fine; hence 6.2 g fine gold). The name originally applying to the gold excelente of Ferdinand and Isabella. It was later transferred to the two escudo coin issued by Spain and the Spanish colonies in the Americas. It was the largest Spanish gold coin, weighing slightly less than an ounce of gold, and originates from the Latin word duplus, or double. A doubloon was worth about seven weeks wages to a sailor.

#4.1 Lost & found
Grace was exhausted, but sleep still didn't come easy. It was his first night on the second floor, and it had been about a week since he last had Khun by his side.
Wearing Khun's clothes helped to trick his mind, but it could only do so much to ease his anxiety.
Grace summoned his pocket and dialed Khun's number, as he had done for the past nights. It rang a few times, and Grace braced himself for another missed call.
He shot up from his bed when he heard a familiar voice call his name.
"...Bam?"
"Oh my goodness!" Grace clutched his pocket in disbelief, "Khun!"
"Bam!" Grace could hear a choked sound from the other end, and Khun's voice had gone a little wet. "Oh, Bam, you're here, thank God. I thought–"
I thought I would never see you again. Grace completed the sentence in his mind.
"I found you," Grace whispered. His eyes stung with unshed tears, and the heavy weight in his heart finally lifted. "I finally found you."
"You found me."
There was an unmistakable smile and fondness on Khun's voice, and Grace let himself smile back. "I miss you."
"I miss you too," Khun whispered very softly, as if they were sharing a secret. It wasn't something he said often, after all. "I hope I can finally sleep better tonight. There’s a lot we need to discuss, but I'll save that for tomorrow."
Grace heard a yawn and caught himself doing the same. They wished each other goodnight and fell asleep with their call still connected.

Eight of Roots. Art by Stacey Williams-Ng, from the Rhythm & Soul Tarot.
Country music has a lot of songs about coal mining, so when it came time to paint my 8 of Roots card for the new Tarot deck, I got my friend Mark to pose in a doorway, wielding a pair of scissors, so I could capture the pose for a hard-working coal miner.

Oracle Faiths
[PT: Oracle Faiths]
Oracle Faiths, a Ficto-Religion(link) related to the story from Vintage Eights, the Oracle Project, the Sinkhole, and the Tangi Virus. This is someone who may believe that the Oracle AI seen in the series is in some form of deity or at least messenger, this can also be connected to the version of the AI seen in the Sinkhole referred too as Prophet. Those who are in this religion do not have a moderator or a leader rather their own experiences. (the term isn’t a queer identity, just tagged for reach due to the nature of my blog.)

Pick a pile: Your shadow self
Tumblr media
This week's reading is about your shadow self. I asked the cards to show me three things:
What aspect of your shadow self is coming forward?
What does your higher self want you to know about this part?
How can you address this part?
There are three piles to choose from. Let me know if they resonate <3
Tumblr media
Aspect of shadow self: The Tower
You have a tendency to be self-destructive. Sometimes they’re conscious decisions that play into it and sometimes it’s your subconscious. Life feels chaotic and you’re looking for a sense of control, but the choices that you are making are not the best ones. They are burning your tower down more quickly.
What your higher self wants you to know about the part: Nine of swords
Continuing down this path only leads to more anxiety, depression, and fear. Your higher self wants you to see that you’re creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. “I’m a mess, so I’ll just do things that messy people do.” “I can’t change anyway, so what is the point of doing things differently?” Your fear is in your head. Examine your situation(s) from a different perspective.
How you can address this part: Eight of swords
The eight of swords tells us that our current thoughts and actions are not serving us (which we know from above). I know that the more you think about how to change, the more frustrating and anxiety-inducing it is. It feels overwhelming. But, you have to push through the overwhelm to actually feel the changes. Changing your thoughts will soon change your reality. Replace your negative thoughts with positive ones, no matter how cheesy it feels or sounds. “I suck” is “I’m doing what I can with what I have.” “Food/alcohol/weed/spending money is the only thing that makes me feel better” is “I haven’t even explored all the other ways to ease my anxiety. There are options out there.” You must accept the choices that you DO have and find which will work best for you – even if you don’t like the process.
I’m sending my love <3
Tumblr media
Aspect: Ace of pentacles & five of pentacles reversed
You are trying to repair your relationship with faith/spirituality. I can’t tell for sure if it was something you used to feel strongly about or if you are just starting to explore now, but I feel like you are looking for something “higher” to help remind you of the good in the world.
Higher self: Three of pentacles & High Priestess
I love these cards SO much. Your higher self wants you to know that it is with you every step of this journey. Even if you don’t know what you believe in yet, your higher self supports your journey. A spiritual journey requires learning new things and implementing them into your life. Continue to tune into your intuition because it is working side by side with your higher self. They want you to know that you are on the right path and answers are coming soon.
How to Address: Four of swords reversed
Continue to look for answers within. I think you’re doing a good job at listening to yourself as you take part in this journey. It’s totally okay to seek validation from outside sources (church, tarot, meditation, etc.), but if something isn’t sitting right for you then that means it’s NOT for you – and that’s okay! Just like every person who picked this pile isn’t in the exact same situation, not everyone is going to connect with the exact same parts. We are all our own people who have our own needs. Do what you KNOW is in your best interest (and trust me… you DO know 😊)
I’m proud of you <3
Tumblr media
Aspect: The star & Chariot in reverse
You are questioning your purpose in life. I do believe this is a newer aspect for your shadow self, but it has been overwhelmingly at the top of your concerns. Maybe you quit your job, are a new parent, just became an empty nester, or moved somewhere new where you don’t have the same support system. You don’t know what to do with yourself and it’s making you so anxious that you’re not doing anything – definitely sensing some task paralysis vibes.
Higher self: Nine of cups
The nine of cups indicates that your current situation IS (going to be) really fulfilling. Your higher self knows you’re confused. The imposter syndrome you’re feeling is completely normal and it will go away. You are being reminded to count your blessings and remind yourself of the good things that are coming out of your situation. Continuing with the examples I have above: you left a toxic work environment, you get to explore so many new things, you get to be independent, or you get to create your life from scratch. These are all amazing!
How to Address: King of wands & Queen of swords
Be the leader of your own life, pile 3. With this new slate, you can look at your life less biased than you could before. You get to set new boundaries and feel good about them! You are strong, independent, and can live your life with intent. You are the determining factor of your purpose.
You got this <3
