hello yes I am back with a no-911-monday crack theory after all (yes I know it isn’t monday and I missed like 7 weeks, I think, because my brain was not up to constructive thoughts, but I will (HOPEFULLY) make up for them by doing theories on other days as well and more than one on the mondays that still remain xD)
today’s theory is about eddie getting hurt/getting caught up in some kind of emergency and what I think the nature of that might be
I’ve been thinking about recurring themes this season and realized that quite a few of the big eddie cases were all centered about loss of control in some way (and I mean loss of control/his fear of losing control has also been a big theme for eddie this season in general but I think for now he is still - if only just baaaarely by the tips of is fingers - holding onto control but we all know he is rapidly runing out of time on that one) and more importantly maybe loss of control through no fault of the people losing the control!
okay, so we have the blackout in general which is just a big loss of control in general and then more specifically the helicopter crash because the pilot loses control of it (and I do think the whole it being a helicopter crash, eddie almost falling out of it and the heart-metaphor of it all ties this call very firmly to eddie and again the loss of control also ties beautifully into his personal life with how everything with ana and his own discomfort around her is spiraling out of the tight control he is trying to hold over it)
we have the driver that causes the accident in Home and Away and the way he tried to stop the vehicle but the brakes didn’t work and he completely lost control of the truck
we have the prison riot in Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1, which is an even more out of control situation and the hostage taking which is an added case of putting eddie and buck in an out of control situation and again the prison guards (the people who lost control) weren’t directly responsible for the loss of control because the riot was staged by mitchell and in the same way eddie and buck had control taken away from them without any fault of their own (interestingly mitchell is grasping all the control in these situations because he too had control (and agency) taken away from him when it came to decisions about his own life and more importantly his ability to protect his son and he very violently took that control back to a certain degree, but at a very high cost)
and we have the extremely out of control fire in Defend in Place that parallels with eddie feeling more and more out of control when it comes to his own life and his own feelings (both things he is desperate to stay in control of)
and then we have eddie quitting his job to wrestle back control over his life but we all know that is not really going to fix anything beyond giving him the time he needs to do the things that will actually help him get back some control and get better overall (but he’ll have to work hard for that and I do think he needs to completely lose the tight control he has on himself before he is ready to start that healing process)
TLDR eddie getting hurt/getting caught up in an emergency that is centered around the theme of having lost control of something and at the same time hitting his breaking point of the control he is still hanging onto

2021 fic year in review
Tagged by the Lovely and Incomparable @reallysmartladymariecurie thank you, darling! 💕
Total Number Of Completed Works: 14 (is what we’ll call it even though I have a few WIP series)
Total Word Count: ~335,000 (side note how in tf)
Fandoms I’ve Written In: 911 and a teensy bit MCU
Looking Back, Did You Write More Fic Than You Thought You Would This Year, Less, Or About What You’d Expected?: Waaaaay way way more. I have never ever written this much for anything. And given as I had never seen an episode of 911 before May of this year, didn’t exactly expect that at all. (but omg how I love them 😭)
What’s Your Own Favorite Story Of The Year?: So hard to pick because they’re all pretty different? My Heart series was a complete labor of love and an unintentionally massive love letter to all of Buddie fandom (and their story up through s4) because the sniper incident was what got me into the fandom. So of course this story is very special. I am still not sure how I wrote 137K in four months. still over here going hOOWWW????? I am also very very fond of The Aftermath of Liberation and Love Confessions. Who doesn’t love sassy petty Eddie?
Did You Take Any Writing Risks This Year?: idk just writing in general and pushing myself to stay with it? Which isn’t really a “risk” per se but putting anything out there kind of is? I also like to play around with prose in general. I think it’s fun, especially in moments where a character is completely out of it or blindsided by something, to make the narration more poetic or lyrical? With repetitive lines or lack of punctuation and things like that.
Do You Have Any Fanfic Or Profic Goals For The New Year?: I do have a few series to finish. I was going to work on my alternate canon s2 Buddie series during hiatus but then I got started with a post 5a fic of pain (I’m fixing them I promise we’re working on ittttt) that I’m really enjoying and I’m really excited about what’s coming up in the next chapter.  Also, I have to finish Bannerella at some point because I’ve been working on it off and on for almost 10 years and it’s just ridiculous at this point.
Most Popular Story Of The Year?: Technically? Based on kudos, it’s Plus or Minus, which I sort of figured might be the case? It was an idea that a lot of people seemed to theorize about (T*yKay gets a job offer and asks Buck to go with her) but I hadn’t seen any fics about it where that was the whole premise? (Totally could have missed them. So sorry if I did!) So I think it got quite a bit of traction just because people wanted to see that play out. But if we’re being honest, I think it’s one of if not my weakest piece. I do love the two scenes with Eddie (and Christopher) and the whole Eddie stress cleaning because it’s apparently A Thing lol. But overall, I’m still pretty meh about it. *insert shrug emoji*  However, if we go by some responses and reactions that I received, I’d say Aftermath (and even my What I Did for Love fic) seem more popular to me. Though if we go by number of bookmarks, it’s my Heart series.
Story Of Mine Most Under-Appreciated By The Universe, In My Opinion: Okay, I’m going to ramble here because I think I either didn’t summarize this one very well or I posted it too late and people were over Halloween, but I really really loved, In the Darkest Time of Year, and I swear basically no one read it. It’s kind of like Aftermath in that it’s sort of a holiday fic? But not really? It’s also an Eddie POV story in which we are tormented by repression and go through a whole Halloween shift of spookiness and emotions to get Eddie to confess his feelings. The goal was to really break him down and threaten him with losing Buck forever if he didn’t come to terms with everything he’s been holding in.
There are sweet scenes with Eddie and Hen working together and being friends! (and I wanted them to have that whole sexuality conversation without being super straightforward about it?) and there’s mutual pining and longing with Buck, and not one but TWO scenes of Eddie vs T*ylor ethical conflict snarky fighting showdowns (including one right in front of Buck 👀) plus it all has this maybe magical realism, maybe mental breakdown hallucination sort of things that I thought gave it an interesting twist. Also has the tragic gay cheerleaders 😭 and I had a lot of fun hinting at these mythological figures and giving them personalities. Oh plus??? I somehow got into making it a kind of Orpheus/Eurydice type story only the twist is that Eddie is Eurydice because Buck pulled him from death, but they’re both still stuck in that moment of the sniper shooting so Eddie worries that he will be trapped in death and the underworld.
Anyway! I would love you forever and ever if you went and checked it out!
Most Fun Story To Write: Hands down. Aftermath of Liberation and Love Confessions. Snarky sassy petty Eddie! Buck getting roasted for the lame T*yKay love confession! Ravi being adorable! A couple super fun OCs who were inspired/based on my late grandparents. Oh, and let me tell you that Buddie kiss? Was one of my favorites to write. Also, I didn’t get to do this for a couple of fics where I think it needed it? But I got to slow down the ending for this and give them some time to figure things out. Which meant you got to see them be cute and together after their big confessions and I really liked that.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Also, Aftermath. Eddie’s whole confusion about defining his sexuality and his coming out scene. I feel that so hard. demisexual!Eddie my beloved 😭 Plus, obviously the two OCs (Larry and Patricia) are very special to me. It was fun bringing them back to life in a sweet, ridiculous, silly way. All the love confessions, too, and having everyone essentially tell their own love stories hit very close to home because every single one is inspired by my own wife and how much I love her and how important she is to me.
Biggest Disappointment: I think I already rambled too much about that lol. But In the Darkest Time of Year
Biggest Surprise: Writing this much at all? Falling so hard for this pairing and their little family and weirdly identifying so much with both of them but in different ways? Also, I am still surprised by the reaction I received to Aftermath. I wasn’t sure people would like it! But it was so much fun to write and I loved it so so much. So, if anything, I’m very grateful people loved it :)
My Favorite Part Of Fandom This Year: Oh gosh. I’ve been enjoying all the amazing writers and meta-ers and gif makers and artists! You are all so incredible and so talented and I adore all of you. Also, I have to agree with @reallysmartladymariecurie because I joined the fandom between 4x13 and 4x14 and omgggggg was that wild. I’ve met such kind and wonderful people who just amaze me every day with their friendliness and enthusiasm and I just really love all of you. It’s been a long time since I was so excited about a fandom and it’s largely because of all of you. 💕💕💕💕💕 Giant hugs and love for you all! 🤗💕
I’m going to add a few here, too because they just need to be mentioned!
Most Memorable Scene to Write: There are some scenes from Heart of Flowers/Heart of Gold that I just really lovelovelove and feel they had to have happened in canon in some form but we just didn’t get to see them. But the one that really sticks out to me is basically a 4x04 addition where Buck goes to Eddie and Christopher’s after the “love me anyway” dinner with his parents and has a breakdown in the key of, “what did I do wrong/why can’t anyone love me.” And his boys smush him in a hug and snuggle him. It’s still one of my all time faves. Also? When Eddie’s parents call and not only does he get to tell them off but he has to argue that he (and Christopher) deserve love? Oh, that was fun.
Favorite Kiss: The overall story is still in progress, but I think the beginning can still be a standalone. So, if you want to know my all time favorite Buddie kiss that was just the most fun? It’s from Reset the Clock. Also the love scene near the end of Heart of Flowers/Heart of Gold is 👀👀👀👀 just saying.
tagging: anyone who wants to do this! I am not sure who has already been tagged but I want EVERYONE to do this pleasseeeee

"Not My Yacht" *Chapter 4*
Tumblr media
Part 3
Part 5
Mwahahahahaha!
Okay so-- obviously, this story is taking place in an alternate universe. Clearly. I need you all to follow me along on this journey, suspend your disbelief, yeah? I did my best at a backstory, I went over it for a long time. I'm pretty sure every detail is covered. If not, I apologize, let me know and I'll fix it.
I think this is gonna be one hell of a ride, people. I'm super excited, are you?!

--------------------------
There was a very long, awkward pause before Rafael finally spoke:
“....What did you just say?”
“Please don’t make me repeat it,” You bit your lip as you looked at him with very sad, still very frightened eyes.
“I...I don’t…how...why...HOW is this man your husband?!”
“I...Well, he--” You muttered.
“He’s a PSYCHOPATH, Y/N!”
“Well he wasn’t when I met him!” You screamed unintentionally. You hadn’t meant to be that aggressive, but your instincts kicked in whenever a man yelled at you now.
“...I mean, I guess he was but you just said it yourself: He’s smart. He’s slick. He was sweet and charming and handsome, and I just-- we just-- “
“He seduced you,"
"I fell in love with him, Rafael! Jesus, it wasn't a one night stand. We were in love," You took a shaky breath. "Look I was a young, naïve, impressionable broke college student, okay? And he-- he was kind, and generous, and--”
“I don’t, I can’t have this conversation with you,” He started to walk into his secret room to get your clothes so that you could leave.
“No, please Rafael,” You grabbed his arm. “Please, let me explain? Please,” You pleaded with him.
“....Fine,” He sighed, unable to ignore your whimpers and tears.
“He wooed me, he gave me everything and anything I asked for. He lived in this giant loft uptown, I thought he was amazing. Looking back on it now, the loft was probably owned by people that he murdered and he’d kill people to get things I wanted, but I didn’t know that at the time!” You paced the floor while thinking out loud.
“And then when he asked me to marry him, I was ecstatic! I thought it was going to be my fairy tale ending before I was even 25, I didn’t know--” You suddenly stopped pacing and stopped talking, the memories of that period in your life coming back to you in disturbing waves.
Rafael saw how much you were in distress telling your story. Even though he was disgusted that you were ever intimate with this lunatic, he couldn’t help but feel for you. He stood up and took your hand, leading you to the leather couch in the corner of the room. He sat you down and motioned for you to continue if you could, while still holding your hand.
“I didn’t know that he was just trying to get me to be-- ‘his’, so that he could do whatever he wanted to me,” You barely got the words out while you still burned holes into the carpet with your eyes.
“Oh God, Oh-- Y/N,” He took your other hand but didn’t force you to look up; he wanted you to tell the rest on your own time.
“After we got married he started hitting me for stupid stuff like putting the dishes in the dishwasher wrong, or folding the towels the wrong way. And then he’d--” You felt tears catch in your throat. “He’d make me have sex with him whenever he wanted,”
“Carino,” Rafael instinctively put his arms around your shoulders, pulling you closer towards him. He just wanted to comfort you, he didn’t want to think about what else that monster did to you.
“I--- I didn’t know what to do. I had just graduated, he was paying for my law school, he was paying for everything I had in my life. I felt like I was trapped, so I just-- I put up with it,” You tried not to cry, you swore a long time ago you wouldn’t waste any more tears on him. But right now you couldn’t help it.
“But then it started getting worse,” You finally raised your head to look at him. “He started beating me when he was angry over other things, sometimes within an inch of my life,”
Rafael didn’t know what to say, he knew you weren’t finished so he just kept rubbing the back of your palms with his thumb comfortingly.
“I finally knew either I had to leave, or die,” You got your tears under control as you remembered how strong you had to be back then. And ever since. “So one day when he was on one of his ‘business trips’-- which now I know were probably killings or heists or worse, I packed everything I could fit into two suitcases and I just-- I left,” You sighed.
“I didn’t have anywhere to go. My parents live in Florida, I didn’t really have friends at school, which wouldn’t have mattered anyway because without him paying for it I had to drop out. I slept on the streets for months!” You unconsciously moved closer into Rafael’s chest as you relived the horror.
“Finally I-- I did something that I never thought I would do in a million years, but I was desperate Rafael. You have to understand that,” You looked at him with a terrified look, like he was about to kick you out of his office for real after what you were about to say.
“I do,” He put a hand to your face. “Whatever you’re going to say, I understand,”
“Okay,” You nodded softly. “I...I became an escort,” You turned away from him and his soft hand on your cheek. Even though he just assured you he understood, you could feel the judgement.
“Not a hooker,” You quickly added, like that made it any better. “An escort-- for older, wealthy gentlemen callers,”
“Ah,” He nodded. “I see,”
“...I changed my name, cancelled all my credit cards and got new ones in my new name. And I started making pretty good money. Enough for a small apartment and food anyway,” You continued. “I had accepted the fact that my life was going to be just what it was at that time-- living my life out as a whore,”
“You’re not, and never were and never will be, a whore Y/N,”
“Rafael, please,” You shook your head with a sarcastic laugh. “Maybe I was a fancy whore, but still one nonetheless,”
“No you--” He didn’t want to get into female derogatory slurs with you right now, so he just let it go. “...Okay, continue,”
“So then I just-- got lucky,” You played with the buttons on his shirt once again nervously. “I shouldn’t say lucky, that’s awful to say about a person’s death,”
“...Death?”
“Yeah um,” You picked harder at the buttons. “A regular of mine, Bartholomew Ridgewood. He was a very wealthy stockbroker who had no family or friends, just-- me, apparently,” You shrugged. “He had a heart attack and died, and then his estate contacted me to let me know that he had left his entire fortune and penthouse to me,”
“Seriously?” Rafael almost laughed at the crazy notion.
“I know right?!” You suddenly exclaimed. It really sounded like something out of a soap opera. “So, I used the money to immediately enroll back in law school, and got a job with Rita, and-- here I am,” You motioned towards yourself, in a ‘ta da’ fashion.
“So, let me get this straight,” Rafael began going over detail of your story in his head. “You actually have a huge fortune, but you’re still going to law school, AND holding down a job?”
“...Yeah,” You pushed a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Why?” He narrowed his eyes.
“Why?” You half laughed. “Well for one, because I don’t ever want to have to depend on a man’s wealth to survive ever again,”
“How would that even happen? Did you blow through it that fast?”
“No!” You suddenly stood up in anger, not believing he was questioning you now. “But it still scares me that something will happen to it, and I’ll be helpless again,” You crossed your arms. “And two, I want to help people like me, without a voice. And three, a recommendation from the District Attorney to any law firm is a very highly coveted accomplishment, Rafael,”
“Right,” He nodded. “So much more coveted than a lowly DA’s recommendation,”
“Are you-- Are you serious?” You laughed in disbelief. “Wha--How, HOW did you get to that from any point in my horror story?”
“I don’t-- I don’t know, maybe if I had known you sooner I could have protected you,” He rubbed the back of his neck. Why DID he say that? Why was he suddenly jealous that you had consciously chosen to work for Rita over him? Why did that even matter at this point?
“No, you couldn’t have,” You shook your head as you sat back down next to him. “I got away from-- By the way he went by Tommy Richmond back then, if you want to add that to your case file,” You pointed to the folder on the desk.
He stood up and walked over to it, pulling papers out of the folder and examining each identity he had found so far. Tommy was on the list from a few years ago. Eric Braverman was next on the list, then Eddie Warshack and then Billy Forsythe, before William Lewis. Eric’s ID was from Connecticut, Eddie from Pennsylvania, and Billy from Ohio.
“....So this shows that once he left New York he went south, but then came back up? That doesn’t make any sense,” He flipped through the papers as thoughts ran through his brain.
“Doesn’t it though?” You stood up and walked over to the desk. “He came back for me. He’s probably looking for me. Maybe he thought I fled the state and he went looking and came back,” Your face turned paler the more you thought out loud.
“I have to get out of here,” You suddenly decided out loud. You briskly walked to the secret room and pulled your clothes out with one minute left on the dryer, but you didn’t care. You were quickly putting them on when Rafael ran in after you.
“What? No, no you don’t,” He tried to stop you from unbuttoning his shirt. “Not now that I know he’s looking for you, you’re not going anywhere,”
“Look Rafael,” You stopped undressing and looked at him very seriously. “He’s smart, and he’s fast. I’ll bet you right now that he is doing some very specific research on anyone that was in that station the day you picked him up. And that includes you,”
“And why would he waste time on that if he’s looking for you?” Rafael raised a curious eyebrow.
“Well obviously if he thinks he’s at risk of being caught I’m the furthest thing from his mind right now! And he’ll study you all like lab rats, trying to figure out your fears and weaknesses, and prey on them. That’s exactly how he manipulated me,”
“So he researched you?”
“No, I don’t think he needed to back then! I just fell into his arms, no hard work on his end required,” You scoffed at your naivete as a young girl.
“....So why do you need to leave?” He crossed his arms.
“Because he’ll figure out we’re....involved,” You gestured between the two of you.
“Involved?” He half laughed. “Y/N we haven’t even-- we haven’t done anything but talk!”
“And yet I’m standing here in your office in only my underwear and your shirt like you said, a sex fantasy!” You gestured to your still scantily clad body.
That gave Rafael an idea.
Without warning his arms were suddenly around your waist, pulling you roughly into his awaiting mouth. You were shocked at first, but soon welcomed his tongue into yours as it began exploring your mouth. His hands slowly moved up your waist through his shirt, approaching your bare breasts. Before he could reach them, you pushed him away.
“What the FUCK are you doing?!” You yelled angrily. “Do you really think now is the appropriate time to do this?”
“Well, if Lewis thinks we’re ‘fraternizing’, shouldn’t we actually ‘fraternize’?” He gave you a smirk.
“He doesn’t think anything yet! I have no idea where he is, you have no idea where he is,” You sighed in frustration.
“I do know where he is,” He traced your palms with his finger sensually. “He’s locked in the tank at the station,”
“...Really?” You were suddenly feeling much safer, and arousal quickly came along with it.
“Really,” He nodded, cupping your head in his hands by your jawline so his thumbs ran against the side of your temples. He gently massaged them, making you relax even more.
“...And you’re not just trying to have sex with me so I won’t run off on you?” You did your best to keep your wits about you, but it was growing increasingly difficult with the smell of his cologne wafting from his hands into your nose. It was intoxicating.
“Maybe I am,” He chuckled, “Or maybe, I’m just acting on things I know we’ve both felt since yesterday on that boat,”
“That’s assuming a lot, counselor,” You bit your lip as you tried desperately not to look down at his mouth while he moved his face closer.
“Is it, though?” His smirk grew more devilish as he continued to close the gap between your lips.
“I…” You tried thinking of anything but his tongue inside you, but it was a losing battle. “....Screw it,”
You grabbed his head and thrusted it against your burning lips as your tongues once again began to do a tango in between your mouths. His hands moved upwards quicker this time, and this time you let them. You jumped onto him, wrapping your legs around his waist as he fell against the desk to support your weight. He picked you up and carried you to the leather couch, laying you down and crawling on top of you while never removing his mouth from yours.
You were both so happy and so enthralled with each other you didn’t notice the door was cracked open, and two dark eyes peering behind it.

bro i think i cracked the code we know next week deals with a bomb threat and everyone’s wondering how buck will react given the last time that happened he almost died and to that i say he freaks out a little and that’s why you see the he opens up to maddie line the thing happens and maddie is worried and buck is upset and he explains that his covid crush is actually a therapist he’s been seeing
Okay first things first, I think everyone should start opening up their messages to me with “bro” because this is honestly cracking me tf up and i love it sm (that’s how i start out like all of my text messages so it geeked me so hard)
ANYWAY! I think right now the writers are really playing off of Buck’s trauma -- first the mudslide, then him repelling into a hole surrounded by mud (like what caused Eddie to get trapped), and now potentially a bomb threat. Because of this I think Buck has every right to start and freak out because it probably feels to him like everything is kind of closing in and triggering him. Therapy would be good for anyone who has has the work trauma that Buck has had, but especially when you have childhood trauma to go along with it. So I could definitely see the writers going this route, especially because they are not shy to allow Buck to have emotional vulnerability.
I definitely agree that something is going to trigger his opening up to Maddie, whatever that may be (maybe even some helpful pushing via the therapist). Either way I think it will be good to have some more Buckley sibling deep time, because right now they aren’t really interacting a lot. I am super excited to see Maddie’s reaction to his “COVID crush” being a therapist lol! I could definitely see Buck opening up after a bunch of things happen and all culminates to him breaking down to Maddie.
I’m super excited to see where this storyline goes and to see how Buck starts to open up to his found family (and actual family) as we are leading up to Buck Begins! I hope this kind of responds to your amazing theory anon! :)

List of My Fic - 2020
Am I 17 days late? Why, yes. I am. But here is a list of all the fic I wrote in 2020, going chronologically, plus some superlatives as I look back on last year.
Total stories written: 18
Total words written: 100,130
SUPERLATIVES:
Favorite fic I wrote in 2020: Dream On (Win/Team)
Least favorite fic I wrote: Sorry A Thousand Times (Fighter/Tutor)
Story I think is the most underrated: Jumping Off the Deep End (Richie/Eddie)
Favorite moment that I wrote:
“Fuck this,” Eddie said just as the elevator doors opened. He jumped in and pressed the button to close the doors again.
“Oh, no way,” Richie said and hopped in with him. When Eddie tried to get back out, Richie grabbed his suit jacket and held on. “Nope, not a chance.”
The others stood in the lobby staring at the two of them.
“Stanley, your friends,” Patty said as the doors slid shut.
“Believe me, honey, I know,” Stan answered.
- Fake it ‘Til You Make it
Favorite sex scene that I wrote:
Kit’s first time giving a blowjob, By Myself With You
It turned out that watching Kit pace naked around his dorm room while he talked himself through giving Ming a blow job for the first time was so entertaining that actually getting his cock sucked was almost a secondary benefit.
Ming laid equally naked in the middle of Kit’s bed, his hands laced behind his head, and enjoyed the show. He could see his very smart boyfriend using his very big brain to come up with the best course of action. Knowing him the way he did, Ming had no doubt that when Kit said he’d done research, he meant both the fun porn type and the boring, informational type. Ming hoped there were flashcards involved.
Favorite pairing dynamic to write: Oblivious Meng Shao Fei and jealous, protective Tang Yi - I did some variation of that trope in all three of my HIStory3: Trapped fics.
Click through for a list of all 18 stories in 7 fandoms.
Tumblr media
WAITING FOR A SIGN Fandom: IT the movies Pairing: Richie/Eddie Rating: Explicit Length: 6100 words Summary: Richie got tall. And broad. He had these wide shoulders and big hands that he’d gesture with emphatically when making some dumb joke about fucking Eddie’s dead mother. At one point, he poured Eddie a finger of Jameson and when Eddie tried to wave it off, Richie took hold of his wrist with one hand and pressed the glass into Eddie’s open palm with the other.
Eddie took a long sip as he had two equally shocking and mortifying thoughts in quick succession. The first was I want his hand around my dick, followed by holy fuck, I’m in love with this dirty asshole.
FAKE IT ‘TIL YOU MAKE IT  Fandom: IT the movies Pairing: Richie/Eddie Rating: Explicit  Length: ~21,000 words Summary: “Then that’s it? You staged some pictures and now it’s done?” Eddie asked.
“I wish,” Richie sighed. “This was just a test balloon to see how it goes over. If people react well, then we’re gonna make it official.”
“Official?” Eddie said faintly.
“You know what I mean. An official fake relationship. Artificially in love in that grand Hollywood tradition.”
SORRY A THOUSAND TIMES
Fandom: Why R U? the series Pairing: Fighter/Tutor Rating: Explicit Length: 3200 words Summary: The ride down to the beach had been pleasant enough, even if Tutor’s heart twisted every time his two friends discreetly traded shy smiles during lulls in the conversation. But Tutor made his choice, and he would have to live with it from now on. Whenever it felt overwhelming, whenever Tutor felt his fingers itching to pick up his phone and text Fight to tell him everything, he reminded himself why he was doing this in the first place. Tutor knew how important family was, and he wouldn’t be able to stand it if he ruined Fight’s relationship with his father.
JUMPING OFF THE DEEP END
Fandom: IT the movies Pairing: Richie/Eddie Rating: Teen Length: 7500 words Summary: He didn’t know what he expected to see when he barged into the room, but Eddie hooked up to a thousand beeping machines and smiling brightly at him wasn’t it. Richie skidded to a stop in the doorway, nearly causing a pile up behind him. His breath caught inside his chest at the sight of Eddie, his hair a riotous mess and his doe eyes wide and glassy.
“Hey, guys,” Eddie said when he saw them. There was a nurse tinkering with one of the machines beside him.
They ignored her and huddled around Eddie’s bed. Richie stood near the back corner and drank in the sight of him. He squeezed his hands together and bit the inside of his cheek to keep himself from crying. Again. Jesus.

Here it is- this week’s playlist (1/31)
My attempt at a so called “radio show” where I recommend 10 songs to everyone. Take it or leave it, I’ll still do this either way lmao.
This week I gotta start off with some of my more obvious picks. There’s gonna be a lot of feel-good songs, as this is my first time doing this, and wanna start off strong. Plus, most of my all time favorites are feel-good songs.
Links to the songs are provided!
1.) I Don’t Want To Lose You- REO Speedwagon (1988) Okay, let’s get these guys out of the way first. As you all probably know by now, I’m the biggest sucker for REO on the planet, and I do believe I know I am the entirety of their fandom on this website. Some of the first music I ever remember hearing was by these guys, and even though you’re all probably sick of me talking about them, give this quick song a try to start things off. It’s super strong, and it BOPS- PERIOD. Today I had to pick up my sister and had this blasted the whole way there. This one is the leading song off of REO’s 1988 greatest hits album, and was made/included as a bonus track for it..
2.) Rockin’ Into the Night- 38 Special (1979) I feel like this list would be incomplete without including the first song I can recall ever listening to. My mother would normally drive me and my sisters to wherever she went when I was a toddler, and she’d always play her CDs in the car. One in particular that was circulated a lot was her 20th Century Masters: 38 Special disc. It was played so often that little me in the car seat behind her had it glued to the inside of my brain so early in life. I can’t say why I remember this song in particular as the “first one ever”, but I probably think it’s because of the over enunciated and consistent line of stressed syllables in the chorus. That ROCK-IN-IN-TO-THE-NIGHT just sounded like pure gibberish to a 3 year old. I guess it fascinated me somehow.
3.) Roll Away the Stone- Mott the Hoople (1973)
So far on this list, I’ve only included songs from my distant past. This song, I’ve only gotten into within the past two years (and that goes for Mott in general), so to me, it’s still a song from my very recent present. This is by far my favorite Mott song, cos it’s just so joyful, hopeful and fun (not to mention it has a nice, bright, mellow, catchy 70s vibe. Kind of half-hippie, if you will). That opening riff is undeniable. I feel like you guys will like this song apart from the others on this list- it gives off some energy that I feel will fit a lot of people I know on here. This song is definitely the odd man out on this week’s list.
4.) Sad Songs (Say So Much)- Elton John (1984) Ah, Elton. How do you pick only one song by him? I only picked this one because it was probably the only good thing that came out of my first job. I worked at a department store, and heard the same 50 songs EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I’d never heard of this when I started working there, but in due time, it was just about the only thing I had to look forward to every day in that job besides going home. It’s a real 80′s-sounding anthem about “suffering enough to write it down” in which he and Bernie really capture the universal feeling of shoveling sad songs into your ongoing dumpster fire of sadness.
5.) Shakin’- Eddie Money (1982)
I was deeply hurt by this wonderful man’s passing in September of 2019, and still find it hard to believe. I grew up on some of Eddie’s hits and hardly ever knew it until very recent years, and, like many, I wish he had more time with us. It’s songs like this one that act like a cage and trap the memory of any wonderful time, making Eddie still very much alive. This song was definitely my summer anthem of last year, and I feel like upon listening to it, y’all will suddenly feel like it’s a hot summer evening, you’re in love, and you’re heading out for a good drive. Eddie’s music lets the good times roll, indeed.
6.) My Kinda Lover- Billy Squier (1981) I know my followers really like The Dirt, and I watched it again this week, so I had to include one of the few non-Crue songs from the movie. This song was used when Vince is singing at the pool party, and the Crue guys meet him. This is one of those songs where when I willingly listened to it for the first time, I went “wait, that’s THIS song??” Of course I’ve heard this before, but I never knew the name of it, or who it was by. It’s such a swinging, confident, bold, happy song about sticking with your lover because you just can’t see yourself doing anything else. Fucking adorable, and catchy as all fuck. Probably in my top 3 out of everything on this list. Someone on this site recently said that Billy Squier deserves more love on here- and I AGREE.
7.) Urgent- Foreigner (1981) This song doesn’t just bop, or bang, but it grooves. That sax just hits you in the best spot, the bass is just uGh- so good, and I can’t stop myself from busting a move at least a little bit whenever this comes on. Yes, this song is very horny, but it does it so so poetically, maturely, and it does it in all seriousness. This seriousness, I feel, is partly because it’s about a relationship between two people that is purely for the passion, but both parties believe that their lust for each other is always of the utmost urgency. What a topic for a song! Great song about a bad relationship.
8.) Photograph- Def Leppard (1983) Duh. Of course Leppard was gonna come in here sooner or later. And I know, I’m starting off with a cliche Leppard song, but this one also just so happens to be my second most favorite song of all time. A fast-paced, tragic anthem of being in love with a photograph because the real person is either dead or not real. Maybe it hits a little too close to home, being in the classic rock fandom and all, but you can’t deny that this song just SLAMS in every way imaginable. Booming guitars, earth-shattering drums, tragic lyrics, and every time Joe screams in this, I just fall in love even more. Not to mention the backing vocals are to DIE for.
9.) Hammer to Fall- Queen (1984) Also duh. You want a song that gives off Queen’s Big Dick Energy? Here ya go. I personally never heard of this song until I saw Bohemian Rhapsody in theaters, but boy, am I glad I did. This is one of those Queen songs where you can clearly say “boy, this ROCKS”. Definitely one of Queen’s more mature songs, but in the best of ways. They just scream it flat out for you, “What the hell we fighting for?!” For me, Roger’s drums are the best part of this one. Hits a huge crowd through lyrics as well as the huge rock and roll energy it gives off. Truly a Live Aid-worthy song.
10.) Only the Young- Journey (1985) I’m ending this list with this song because it really gets my excitement up a lot. Every time that intro hits me, I just feel like sprinting up a fucking mountain, across a huge bridge, or through a wide open space. This one really makes me feel like I’m running to something that I’m really excited about, or heading on an exciting adventure. It gives off that 80s energy of having more power to the youth of the generation, talking about how they’re a “generation waiting for dawn”, even after the “golden age” that preceded them that they’re expected to live up to. They’re also called brave because they have to live through the promises and lies that they “dare to tell”. In a time with so much hate towards the younger generations, I think it’s important to remember an empowering song like this. Get that excitement up, take pride in your young generation- “the bold and the strong”- and go sprint up a fucking mountain. This one’s also the first track off Journey’s 1988 greatest hits album.
Even if you take the time to listen to one of these songs, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

“How many godfathers can one kid have?”
“Richie, we’re agnostic.”
“Hey, I believe in God, I just don’t trust organized religion,” Richie replied, hanging the framed Princess Leia poster before stepping back to observe it. “Or any organizations, now that I think about it.”
“It’s crooked. Move it to the right like an inch,” Eddie said. “And she doesn’t need godparents.”
“Course she does,” Richie said, maneuvering the frame slowly as if it were a tempermental bomb. “I mean, obviously Bev will be godmother and I guess that means Ben should be godfather but we can’t play favorites with the guys like that.”
“Did you have godparents? And it’s straight now, quit messing with it.”
“Yeah,” Richie said. “My great uncle Jim and my mom’s cousin Valerie. I’ve told you about her before. She took me to my first Pride when I was twenty because surprise, she was a lesbian and no one knew. Even though she and her roommate Laura shared a one bedroom apartment in New York.”
Eddie laughed and shook his head.
“I’d pay money to see you at Pride as some lanky, awkward kid,” he said.
“Oh man,” Richie said, grinning, “I was such a twink back then.”
“And what the hell are you now?”
Richie shrugged.
“I don’t know. Sloppy otter? Is that still a thing?”
“You’re asking the wrong guy,” Eddie said. He gazed around the room and his smile widened. “I gotta say, this is a pretty awesome kid’s room.”
“Hell yeah it is,” Richie replied, stepping beside his husband and putting his arm around his shoulders. “She’s gonna love it.”
They were both silent for several long moments, content to simply be in one another’s presence in their child’s room when Richie squeezed Eddie’s shoulder.
“I can’t believe it’s finally happening,” he admitted softly.
“I know,” Eddie agreed. “You’re gonna be a good dad.”
Richie colored briefly before gently hip-checking Eddie.
“So are you,” he said.
Eddie merely smiled.
Richie picked up the phone on the second ring.
“Bev!” he shouted.
“Richie!” she shouted back, laughing. “How are you?”
“Oh, you know, exhausted, covered in glitter, and haven’t showered in days,” he replied. Lydia lifted up her latest drawing and he gave her a thumbs up. She grinned and grabbed another piece of construction paper. “So just like college all over again.”
Bev laughed.
“I wish we went to college together,” she said wistfully.
“Oh, we’d be expelled instantly if some university was stupid enough to accept both of us,” he said. “So what’s going on?”
“Well, I finally had time to sit and watch all the videos you sent yesterday,” she answered. “And I have to say, Lydia is the sweetest, smartest, cutest kid I’ve ever seen.”
“Aw,” Richie said. He moved the phone away from his mouth and loudly whispered, “Lyds, my friend Bev thinks you’re cute and smart and sweet.”
“Who’s Bev?” Lydia asked.
“My friend, you’ll meet her soon.” Richie returned the phone to his ear. “When are you and Ben coming by?”
“Soon, I hope,” she said. “Ben’s finishing up a big project but this summer should be free and clear. What about the other Losers?”
“I don’t know, I want to do a BBQ with all of you so you can meet Lydia at the same time,” he said.
“I don’t like BBQ,” Lydia pointed out. “I like macaroni and cheese.”
“I’ll make macaroni and cheese, I promise,” Richie said.
“You cook now?” Bev asked.
“Don’t sound so surprised,” he shot back. “I had been surviving on my own for twenty years, thank you.”
“I just can’t believe you’re a dad now,” Bev sighed wistfully.
“Well, you better believe it because I lost the receipt so this kid is nonrefundable,” he said, reaching out and tussling her hair, causing her to playfully bat away his hand.
Bev laughed.
“You sound happy, you know that?” she said.
Richie blinked. He hadn’t really thought about it but he supposed he was. A warm wave filled his chest.
“Yeah, I guess I am,” he said, clearing his throat.
“Am I making Trashmouth emotional?”
“No way,” he insisted. “I never get emotional and I definitely did not cry when we watched Moana the other night.”
“Yes, you did, Papa!”
“Shh!”
Bev laughed again and Richie grinned.
“Don’t worry, Ben cries at everything so your secret is safe with me,” she said. “I’m going to talk to him tonight about vacation days. You have to let us know when you’re free, though.”
“We’ll make it work, don’t worry.”
“Yeah, but I know Eddie’s always busy at work and you two are the ones with a kid.”
“We’ll make it work,” Richie repeated.
“I feel kinda bad though,” Bev admitted. “Won’t Lydia be overwhelmed by a welcome party filled with grown-ups?”
Richie blinked again. He hadn’t thought about that. He glanced at his daughter, happily tracing her hand on a piece of pink paper and swallowed.
“She has some friends from her school,” he said slowly. “I can invite them for her.”
“I just don’t want her bored or frightened,” Bev continued. “I remember the few times my dad took me to see family, I was the only kid. I hated it. Everyone talking over you and then yelling if you dared to look bored.”
Richie swallowed again and looked down at the table. He had always hated it when Bev spoke of her father but he was smart enough to know to shut up and listen.
“Anyway,” she said brightly, “I just want her to have fun.”
“She will. We’ll make it fun.”
“And Ben and I already got her a bunch of presents.”
“Oh no,” he groaned. “We specifically said no presents.” Lydia’s head immediately shot up, eyes wide and bright. “She’s spoiled enough as it is.” Lydia shook her head fervently.
“And send us her size, I saw some super cute clothes the other day,” Bev continued.
“Bev, no—”
“Yes, Richie,” she insisted. “I love you but I’m ignoring you.”
“Bev, I swear—”
“I gotta go,” she said quickly. “I love you, Trashmouth.”
Richie sighed but smiled warmly.
“I love you, too,” he replied gently.
“And I love Lydia even without meeting her yet.”
Richie’s heart did something intense, and it knocked the breath out of him.
“Richie?”
“Yeah, no, thanks, Bev,” he said quickly.
“Alright,” she said, laughter in her voice. “I’ll talk to you soon, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
Richie placed his phone on the table and tried to gather his thoughts. It was harder than usual.
“Look at this one, Papa,” Lydia announced, lifting another colorful and glittery drawing. A large percentage of said glitter slipped off and fell onto the table. “Oops.”
“That’s a beaut,” he said and sniffed. “My friend Bev said she loves you.”
“That’s nice,” Lydia replied. “And she bought me presents?”
“Yeah, but you don’t need anything.”
“But maybe she got me something I don’t have,” Lydia pointed out.
“Airtight logic, as usual, kiddo,” Richie admitted.
Lydia smiled and clapped her hands together in an attempt to clear them of glitter, frowning when it did nothing.
“I think we gotta hose you down,” Richie observed. He glanced at the clock. “And soon, before your dad walks in and has a conniption.”
“What’s a conniption?”
“It’s what happens when your dad comes home and sees what a mess your papa has made,” Richie answered, standing. “Come on, let’s get you and all of this cleaned up.”
Richie finished loading the dishwasher, closed it, set it, and immediately sat down in the closest chair, suddenly exhausted. He barely flinched when he felt arms curl around his shoulders and a chin rest on the top of his head.
“You okay, buddy?” Bev asked gently.
“Yeah, just tired,” he replied. “Too much excitement for one day.”
Bev nodded and leaned down to place a kiss on his head.
“You sure you’re good?” she asked again.
“Yeah, but just...can you do me a favor?”
“Anything.”
“Can you tell me if my hair is thinning up there?”
Bev laughed and flicked his ear.
“No, it’s as thick and messy as ever,” she replied. “But you do still have a fivehead.”
“Shut up.”
Bev squeezed his shoulders and then sat in the empty chair closest to him. A golden glow from the setting sun streamed through the open windows, and they could hear the rest of the party—Losers catching up and laughing and children shrieking with delight at whatever delighted five-year-olds—but it was mercifully quiet in the kitchen.
“I’m glad you invited her friends,” Bev said. “She needed some people her age to counterbalance all of us boring grown-ups.”
Richie nodded.
“Yeah, but she had fun with you and Ben earlier,” he said. “I guess she’s used to being the only kid around with just me and Eddie.”
“Do you think you guys will adopt again?”
Richie swallowed and shrugged.
“I don’t know, I mean, we’re still getting the hang of having just one kid,” he sighed. “But I wouldn’t want her to be an only child. They’re kinda weird, no offense.”
Bev laughed.
“They’re also lonely,” she pointed out, “so I wouldn’t recommend it for her, either.”
Richie felt compelled to hug her but settled for taking one of her hands in both of his, resting them on the table. They were both silent for a long moment, and he tried to ignore the fact that Bev was gazing at him expectantly before he cleared his throat.
“Bev, I…I’m scared.”
She quirked her head to the side and gazed at Richie with mild confusion on her face.
“Scared of what, Rich?”
“Fucking everything,” he admitted, not meeting her eyes. “What if I’m in over my head?”
Bev squeezed his hands.
“I’m not a parent,” she offered gently, “but I think that’s a common side effect.”
Richie sighed and shook his head.
“And you’re not doing this alone,” Bev continued, reaching out with her free hand to brush a strand of hair behind his ear. “You’ve got Eddie. The two of you are doing a great job. You can tell just by looking at Lydia.”
Richie’s chest tightened.
“Lydia’s amazing,” he admitted. “But she was amazing when we adopted her.”
“Rich—”
“And Eddie...” he swallowed and looked up at Bev, “I’m scared I forced him into something he didn’t want.”
Bev appeared genuinely shocked.
“Richie, that’s impossible,” she insisted.
“I don’t know.”
“Do you think for even one second Eddie would move across the country and endure years of all that bureaucratic bullshit and constant, needling, in-depth assessments from social workers for something he didn’t want?”
Richie swallowed and looked down again.
“He loves you,” Bev said gently, leaning in closer to her friend, “but he doesn’t love you that much.”
That startled a laugh out of Richie. He wiped at his nose and sniffed. Bev used her free hand to wipe at his face.
“You’re just tired,” she observed. “Tired and overwhelmed at having all of us here and showing off Lydia.”
“Hey, do you guys have any...what’s going on?”
They both looked up. Ben was standing in the doorway looking not unlike a deer caught in the headlights.
“Nothing, nothing,” Bev said quickly.
“Yeah, nothing, just your girlfriend bullying me about my forehead, that’s all,” Richie replied. Ben smiled but he still looked unconvinced. Richie continued, “You need something, dude?”
“Oh, yeah, just wanted to grab a drink,” Ben said.
Richie motioned towards the fridge and Ben opened it, reached in, and pulled out a juicebox. He glanced down at it in his hand and then smirked at Richie, his eyebrows raised.
“Hey, don’t knock it, mix that with a little vodka, fucking delicious,” Richie insisted. “That’s how I get through Lydia’s gymnastics classes.”
Bev smirked and slapped him lightly on the knee, earning a yelp from Richie. Ben shook his head, still smiling, closed the fridge door, and immediately pushed the straw through the top of the juicebox and sipped.
“Hmm,” he said after a few moments’ consideration, “not bad, actually.”
“See?” Richie replied. “There are some benefits to having a kid.” Ben sat at the table beside him and affectionately patted him on the shoulder. Richie glanced at him and bit the bullet. “So, not to sound totally straight, but are you guys thinking about having kids?”
Ben’s eyes widened and his lips tightened around the straw. Bev rolled her eyes.
“We don’t know, Rich,” she said gently. “Though we are running out of time.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m well over forty.”
“We’re all well over forty.”
Bev gave him a pointed look and realization washed over Richie’s face.
“Oh, yeah,” Richie muttered. “Who gives a shit? I read about a woman in India who had a baby at seventy.”
“I don’t plan on going for that,” Bev laughed.
“Besides, you and Eddie have inspired us to at least look into adoption,” Ben replied.
“Oh yeah?” Richie said. “Nice. Well, if you need advice, talk to Eddie. I’m a mess.”
“Richie…”
“I’m serious,” he insisted. “I know we only got approval because of him.”
“Come on, that’s not—”
“It is true. I mean, who would you let raise a kid? A shitty and foul-mouthed comic with crazy hours and a drinking problem he only just got under control or the responsible, completely organized nerd in polo shirts?”
Ben and Bev were both silent and Richie realized he had, once again, gone too far. He racked his mind to rectify the situation—a joke, an impression, a scream, anything—when he was saved by the backdoor opening and Eddie appearing in the doorway.
“Hey, Lydia’s friends are getting picked up,” he said. “You wanna come say goodbye with me?”
Richie stood.
“Sorry, folks, parenting duty calls,” he said casually and offered a lop-sided grin before leaving Ben and Bev in the kitchen.
He’s late.
What time is it by you?
7:32.
Well, didn’t he say he had a dinner meeting?
Yeah, at 5. wtf
I’m sure he’s just sitting in traffic. He’ll be home soon. Don’t worry.
I’m not worried. I’m fucking pissed.
He can’t help it if work is crazy, sweetheart.
He could’ve called out. I’m by myself over here, neck deep in snotty tissues and crying kids.
Richie glanced up from his phone at the sound of keys in the front door. Fucking finally, he thought. The door opened and closed and it seemed to Richie that Eddie purposely took a long time to get from the foyer to the living room, where he was sitting on the couch with Lydia’s feet in his lap and their youngest curled up against his side, drooling onto his shirt. They were still passed out, mercifully.
Eddie walked into the living room and quietly stepped up to the couch.
“Hey,” he whispered. “How are the girls?”
“Lydia’s fever broke,” Richie sighed, “but I think it’s going into her chest. She keeps coughing. And Tess is just congested and keeps puking up the medicine so that’s been fun.”
“She hasn’t kept any of the medicine down?”
Richie shook his head and shoved his fingers beneath his glasses, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
“Fuck, we gotta get her to take it,” Eddie said.
“No shit,” Richie snapped. He tensed when Lydia stretched in her sleep but she remained asleep.
“I read about another brand online today,” Eddie said, leaning down to run his fingers through Tess’s dark hair. “Supposedly it doesn’t have any of that artificial flavoring shit. That’s probably what’s making her sick.”
Richie shrugged, too exhausted to even comment. Eddie glanced at him, raising an eyebrow before continuing, “I’ll pick some up on the way home tomorrow.”
Richie’s head shot up and he stared at Eddie, stunned.
“You’re going into work tomorrow?” he asked dumbly.
“I gotta, but just for half a day. I’ll be home early.”
“Like you were today?”
Eddie straightened and shook his head.
“I’m too tired for this right now,” he sighed.
Richie’s eyes widened. For a moment, he couldn’t see straight.
“You’re too tired?” he repeated, his voice strained.
Lydia moved again, sighing in her sleep before being rattled awake by a violent cough. Richie and Eddie both reached for the glass of water on the coffee table, but Lydia got to it first before immediately gulping down half of it.
“Easy, kiddo,” Eddie murmured, taking the glass from her when was done. “How are you feeling?”
Lydia answered by coughing again, covering her mouth with her arm like her dad had showed her. Tears sprang to her eyes and her nose began running. Richie handed her the tissue box and ran his fingers through her unruly curls.
“My throat won’t stop tickling,” she finally gasped out.
“Your sinuses are draining, that’s probably it,” Eddie said before reaching towards his briefcase he had left on the floor. He opened it and brought out a bag of cough drops. “I made sure to get the lemon ones.” He unwrapped and handed her one, and she immediately popped it in her mouth before settling back down on the couch.
Richie glanced over at Tess. She hadn’t even stirred from the commotion. He was also quite sure some of the drool on his shirt was snot, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.
“Look, you’re home now, I’m gonna go take a shower, okay?” he said, gently moving Lydia’s feet off his lap and placing a pillow beside Tess. Without waiting for an answer, he hurried to the bedroom, leaving Eddie staring after his retreating back.
Richie, admittedly, took a particularly long shower but he felt he deserved it. A full day and a half of battling germs, miserable kids, and the occasional pukefest could wear a man out. Eddie’s extra-early alarm this morning certainly didn’t help, nor did his apparent reluctance to pick up the phone. Richie allowed himself one bang against the shower wall with his fist before concentrating on his breathing and allowing the warm water to undo the tension in his body. Fuck, he was tired.
Turning off the shower, he gingerly stepped out and wrapped a towel around his waist before heading into the bedroom, where Eddie was waiting for him.
“You talk to Bev about what a shitty husband I am?” he said in an oddly calm voice.
Richie blinked. Then he noticed his cell phone in Eddie’s hand. Shit. Deflect, Tozier.
“You went through my phone?” he shot back. “And you left the girls alone?”
“Tess is still asleep and Lydia is watching TV,” Eddie answered and took a step towards Richie. “And your phone went off with a text from Bev that had my name in it. Of course I fucking looked, you’d do the same.”
Richie frowned. Eddie, was usual, was right.
“Bev and I talk all the time,” he said, brushing past him to their bureau and began searching for pajamas. “You know that.”
“Yeah, but—”
“And you talk to her and the guys,” Richie continued. “What’s the fucking difference?”
“I don’t bitch and moan about you to them.”
“Bullshit.”
“I don’t share private things with them.”
Richie whirled around, which was a bit difficult considering he was still stepping into his pajama pants. “Private things?” he repeated. “You being late on a day where I really fucking needed you isn’t exactly intimate information. What’s the big deal?”
Eddie swallowed and shook his head.
“Well, I don’t like it,” he admitted.
Richie huffed a laugh.
“I don’t like that you care more about work than your family but we all got our crosses to bear, right?” he snapped. “So forgive me for letting off a little steam to someone who actually cares.”
Eddie stared at him, his eyes wide and impossibly bright. Richie looked away, grabbed the first t-shirt he could find in the bureau and put it on.
“I’m gonna go sit with the kids,” he muttered. “Text Bev back for me and tell her everything’s fucking fine.”
He felt Eddie’s eyes on him as he stalked out of the bedroom and tried his best to school his face when he approached the couch but by the sidelong glance his daughter gave him, he knew he had done a poor job of it.

Guys like us don’t get the girl.
But sometimes they do.
P.S. Cannot send enough thank yous to the anon who told me about the wayback archive. I was able to find this fic! It was one of my first WA fics. I forgot how much I loved writing it.
Maybe it’s the reality check he needs. Maybe he should let Iris live her life and he can quietly step to the side, as both Barry and the Flash (Caitlin’s advice also lingering in his mind too often). Maybe Iris doesn’t need him around as much anymore.
So he avoids her for a few days, just to see if she notices.
Of course Iris notices. She’s not happy about it, either.
And like that, she draws him back into her life after only a four day separation. There’s a sense of relief that he feels when he concludes they’re two peas in a pod, yin and yang, two sides of the same coin. Practically joined at the hip, and she doesn’t need him around - she wants him around, which is all the more satisfying.
Even if they only remain friends, he’ll love her. Even if she stays with Eddie, he’ll be in love with her. Even if she decides to continue down the dangerous path of being an investigative journalist, he’ll support her. Protect her, though Iris has shown him one too many times during their lives that her left hook is finely tuned (“Don’t let my small arms fool you, Barry. I’ll knock him out cold if he picks on you again!”).
Barry finds himself unable to stay away; he doesn’t want to stay away but Caitlin keeps giving him these knowing yet disapproving looks when he returns to the lab with what she describes as a “dumb, love-struck smile.” He pointedly ignores the rest of her rant about how he’s sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong, that, in the end, he’s making it harder for both himself and Iris.
(He also pointedly ignores how right she is, and that sinking feeling he gets every time he’s reminded.)
* It’s Christmas night when Eddie proposes to Iris, with both Joe and Barry in company.
And between the three of them, Barry can’t tell who is more surprised.
Iris, a hand covering her mouth and her eyes unwavering from Eddie’s.
Joe, speechless and frozen, and maybe even a little confused.
Barry, with the breath knocked out of him and heart breaking loud enough for Joe to hear.
Joe’s hand reaches for his shoulder and gives him a hard squeeze, a gesture that Barry would usually take great comfort in, but now feels like heavy bricks weighing down. Then Joe turns and plays the role of excited father.
"Barry, there’s champagne in the cooler. Do you might grabbing it?" Eddie asks him, a blinding smile on his face that is noticeably missing from Iris’s - maybe still in shock - and Barry does what any best friend would do.
He congratulates her and her fiancé.
* Barry’s sort of glad Caitlin is refraining from saying “I told you so,” but she’s also been too busy with her own problems to really rub the salt in his wounds.
Like the fact that the man she had been mourning for a year is back from the dead. As some torched resemblance of a human being no less.
All of Central City is shaping up to be a cliché comic book, featuring meta-humans, time traveling, and all-too-complicated love stories.
Figures he’d be the star of it.
But all of what’s happening with Ronnie and his mother’s murderer gives him a decent distraction from Iris. Barry isn’t sure if he’s disappointed or relieved that she hasn’t talked to him about the proposal yet. It seems that they’ve both been keeping their distances from each other.
It’s probably best that way, he tells himself. Because soon she’ll be Mrs. West-Thawne.
* “I can’t marry him.”
Iris barely steps into his apartment before she’s rambling off.
"I can’t do it! I should have told him the night he gave me the ring. But he looked so happy! What right do I have to take his happiness away like that? And my dad, God, my dad! Barry, did you see his face? He was going to cry from joy! What kind of terrible daughter would I be if I took that from him? He’s probably already named all of the grandchildren he thinks Eddie and I are going to have, but we’re not - “
"Woah, what are - "
" - because I don’t love him." Iris takes a deep breath, and Barry can see the tears brimming in her eyes. He marvels at her ability to have kept everything bottled up for that long.
Then he begins to worry.
"Iris," Barry begins carefully. He’s unsure of where to begin, as his brain is still trying to process her confession, so he says the first thing that comes to mind. "Do you want me to make coffee?"
There’s a stillness, and then Iris laughs, a hiccup getting caught in her throat that makes Barry laugh too, until she’s nodding through her tears and he’s pulling her in his arms.
"My coffee isn’t that bad," he mutters into her hair when she’s quieted down after a few minutes, and he’s fully prepared for the punch she gives his chest.
Iris is smiling at least, so he finds himself smiling back. He cups her cheek and traces the wet trails on her face with his thumb, drying what he can.
"If you don’t want to marry him, then don’t. No one has ever told Iris Ann West what to do," he says, which pleases her plenty if by the way she sighs and leans into his touch is any indication.
"This is why you’re the best man in my life," she tells him. Barry tries not blush or stutter, but he knows he’s failing.
"Because I give good advice or because I’m not even mildly annoyed that you were banging on my door at 5:30 on a Saturday morning?" he teases.
"Oh my god, is it really that early? I am so sorry - "
"It’s okay." He means it. "I’m glad you’re here." So very much means it.
He thinks that when she looks up at him this time, it’s different. He can’t quite place why, but there’s a gleam in her eyes that he’s never seen before.
At least not directed towards him. And he can get lost in that look for days, he knows by the way it fires heat through his body, one nerve at a time.
Barry clears his throat and takes a step back. “Let me get that coffee started.”
"Yeah," Iris blinks up at him, seemingly as unsure about the last few moments as he is. "Good idea."
In the kitchen, during the couple of minutes he had to himself, he wonders if these are the kind of changes Felicity was talking about.
*
Barry decides that these are definitely the changes Felicity was talking about.
They’re subtle changes, but still…changes. Like how Iris looks at him; that same one from the other morning in his hallway, as though with renewed interest. How she acts around him; she’s touching him more, and while Iris has always been one for physical contact, there’s something almost - sensual about it now. Fingers grazing, close personal space shoulder-bumping, her hand lingering in areas he knows defined muscle has formed.
Barry thinks, and he could potentially and disastrously be overthinking it, that Iris is even flirting with him. And to be honest, he’s not sure how to respond to it.
"This is the moment you’ve been waiting for, dude. Super hot girl that you’ve been in love with is acting on mutual attraction! What’s your problem?" Cisco gapes at him during one of their ping pong games.
"My problem," Barry hits the ball back to the other side, "is that I’m not good at these kinds of things. Flirting and being charming and - I’m just not the guy who gets the girl."
Cisco rolls his eyes. “You’ve flirted with her before. Do I need to remind you of your guys’ rooftop days? Please don’t make me remind you of your rooftop days.”
"You’re forgetting that I went to her as the Flash. The Flash is much cooler than I am, trust me."
"The fact that you’re referring to yourself as an alter ego is slightly alarming," Caitlin comments from the corner where she’s piecing together the map of Ronnie’s possible whereabouts. "I’ve told you before, you are incredible and amazing with or without the speed, Barry. And Iris knows that."
Barry puts his paddle down, smirking at Caitlin’s back. “Someone’s changed her tune.”
Caitlin glares over her shoulder and it promptly shuts him up.
*
Any doubts Barry may have had about Iris’s intentions is cleared when Joe approaches him with a smile too giddy and curious for any cop or father to have.
"What’s going on with you two?"
Barry doesn’t know how to best phrase that Iris is seemingly reciprocating the emotional, romantic, and sexual feelings he’s ever had for her so he grins and says, “Progressing one day at a time.”
Joe pats him on the back. “You two were made for each other, Barry.”
Barry is starting to believe it.
* The words sort of tumble from his mouth by accident.
Iris had tried to surprise him with a homemade birthday dinner, and he was alarmed to find his front door unlocked that he completely startled her when she was lighting the candles on the table.
The table caught on fire…
…and then dinner burned while they were putting the fire out.
That’s when he tells her, in his moment of slight panic. “I love you. I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember.”
Barry’s half-expecting Iris to get mad at him or get away as soon as possible, but she smiles and closes the space between them.
"I know. I’m sorry it took me this long to figure it out."
He’s about to tell her that she shouldn’t be sorry for anything, but she presses up on her toes and pulls him down for a kiss.
All else melts from his thoughts when she glides her tongue against his lips.
Barry can’t remember what happens after that, oddly enough, but then Iris tells him the next morning it’s because he passed out and hit his head pretty hard.
Totally worth it.
* “This came in the mail today,” Thea says, handing Oliver the envelope. “Looks like a wedding invite.”
Oliver pulls the gold trimmed letter open and feels the corners of his mouth spreading into one of his rare smiles.
We are delighted to invite you to the wedding ceremony of Bartholomew Henry Allen and Iris Ann West.
P. S. I got the girl.

Blah Blah Trailer Things Blah I’m So Weary
All right w/e you’d think i was getting paid for this the way i crank them out even when I have no desire to but fuck it as all the ones before, under a read more so you don’t have to scroll and shit and so that if someone makes a super obvious correction in the first few notes i can change it and nobody will be the wiser tee hee hee I am gonna stick to things that haven’t been confirmed so shit we already know like “There are additional flashbacks to when they were kids, Mike still lives in Derry and has been tryna figure out how to kill It through...tripping, apparently? They meet at Jade of the Orient like in the book,” etc. I won’t touch for the sake of brevity. I also won’t go over things I did in the last one
1. The flood of water in the sewer COULD be right after they actually kill It, in the book they kill It in the early morning, and Its death coincides with a massive storm destroying the town, starting with the sewers flooding and backing up
2. Adrian Mellon, post beating and being thrown off a bridge by homophobes, as Pennywise mockingly offers him help before eating him. This is STRAIGHT out of the book, right down to the silver eyes Pennywise is sporting i’m very excited
3. Bev walking in the rain looking shaken up seems to be her right after having her fight her way out of her abusive boyfriend’s place, we know they’re keeping that intact courtesy of the bruises on her arms in the Mrs Kersh trailer
4. Not sure where Eddie’s standing in this child-to-adult montage, i can only guess that maybe Ben is outside that bar he gets shitfaced in before he goes back to Derry? But that’s a shot in the dark. I know Bill’s standing at the storm drain where Georgie got dragged in, which we saw It taunting him in Georgie form briefly in the last trailer, and Mike due to the area and the police lights on his face, seems to be investigating child murders like he was in the book. It’s what prompts him to call the other Losers. Richie is at the Paul Bunyan statue
5. So yeah the carnival seems to play a bigger role than just the backdrop where Adrian first has trouble with the homophobes like in the book, Bill probably follows a lead there, possibly investigating what happened to Adrian aaaaand finds Pennywise chewing down on some kid right behind a glass he can’t get to him from in a mirror maze, ostensibly just to fuck with him. Brutal and sadistic, i gotta say i love it even though it’s hard to analyze further than that since there isn’t anything even remotely analogous to this in the book. Oh, the little swinging punch clowns are done up like Tim Curry’s Pennywise, that’s a fun easter egg. Also Pennywise’s long tongue on the glass is reminiscent of The Leper’s tongue from the book, probably did that on purpose.
6. Oh yeah confirmation Bowers is alive and in a mental hospital, and Pennywise is calling him back, apparently via red balloon instead of the moon which BOOOOOO but whatever
7. Since they changed it from the book a bit to revolve more heavily around Neibolt Street, that seems to have more prominence in this half of the movie as well, with lots of shots of them going into it, whereas I don’t think they touch it as adults in the book. I do like the fridge shaking like It’s about to come out of it like It did in the first movie to eat Eddie. Clearly lots of call backs so that’s fun. Actually, you know what? It could be Stan’s severed head with a bunch of balloons in there cause there’s a scene like that involving a (different) fridge in the adult half of the book/miniseries
EDIT: Okay, according to someone on youtube who saw Comic-Con footage, that IS the case damn i’m right once in a while except in this case Stan’s head...the youtube source didn’t say whose head it was but i’m...there’s no way it’s not Stan’s goes on to sprout spider legs and crawl at them a la The Thing so that’s pretty awesome
8. “I’ve seen all of us die” is an interesting line. Now, in the book, fUCKING STAN YOU FUCKING BASTARD ANDRES MUSCHIETTI YOU LITERALLY TOOK EVERYTHING FROM STAN AND GAVE IT TO A DIFF-ahem. Forgive that little outburst. In the book,...SSsss.....hrng. Stanley Uris is the one who seems to have visions or at least a sense of the future, not, Bev, as well as some vaguely defined psychic somethinerother. Obviously, her kidnapping slash Deadlighting slash empty eyes slash floating thing never happens in the book, so once again, no real way of knowing if it’s a Dr. Strange circa Infinity War thing where she saw a possible or a bunch of possible futures or just Pennywise fucking with her to make her feel hopeless thing. I mean obviously we know they don’t all die so i’m just curious about the nature of her vision she had in Its lair. Obviously some of it came to pass, but...i just don’t know if it was a vision from The Turtle or a trick from It, or possibly a little of both. But it’s one of those
9. Oh yeah right that....that’s definitely Stan’s death scene. Not that there was any question, really, but this is solid confirmation he takes a one way ticket out of Clowntown on the Razorblade-in-a-Bathtub Express
10. Oh I forgot to say about the alien-looking spikes i think that’s the blasted-up exploded remains of whatever it landed in just btw
11. Okay so Bill as an adult back in the basement with a screaming ghost Georgie confronting him in a very similar way to when he was a kid, Bev back in the bathroom where she got bullied and it seems like her childhood bathroom? Filling up with blood and...trying to help someone out of the blood lake? Okay.
I have a theory about all this.
I think it’s them interacting with their younger selves. I think.....
I think The Ritual of Chud is going to manifest differently for every single one of them, and it’s basically going to be them going to some mindscape where they go to their kid selves, to their worst and darkest moments, and are either trapped there in despair or have to save their younger selves. Think of The Haunting of Hill House’s Red Room. I THINK that’s what’s going on here. Judging by...I’m almost positive Bev is reaching out her hand to pull her younger self out of the blood, and you can see young Bill behind adult Bill in the background while Georgie’s going “what the FUCK you’re the worst brother EVER” at him so look i think i’m right, okay?
12. When Bev smashes the mirror, it looks like, you know how in the first one Henry goes to carve his face on Ben’s stomach but only gets the H? In the book that scar disappears when he grows up but then comes back after Mike calls him and it looks here like not only has the scar come back but It has either actually cut the entire name down there or at least made him hallucinate that the entire name has appeared on his stomach. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s the latter, some kind of hallucination Bev’s trying to break by shattering the mirror.
13. Yeah so if you hadn’t read the book, that’s pretty much definitely Eddie Richie’s holding, and he’s pretty much definitely dying and his final words are pretty much definitely gonna be “Don’t call me Eds. You know I hate it when you...”
14. Oh yeah right I’m pretty sure the underwater monster is a more decayed Ms Kersh and it looks like instead of turning to candy, her house floods for some reason? And here she is being all spooky and underwater with Bev i do not know why the flooding is a thing but w/e uhhh look it’s not in the first trailer i don’t know where i think i saw this or how I got this impression but i think somewhere there was a brief shot implying the water like came out of a painting or something. Possibly a 1408 reference, actually
15. Gotta be Its lair disintegrating after the completed Ritual of Chud which yeah when they were all holding hands a few shots earlier and looking up at orange light i forgot to say that’s def the Ritual starting
17. Whoever this is, Bill i’m assuming flying through that tunnel to the rectangle of light is pretty close to straight out of the book Ritual of Chud
18. Mike tripping, as per mentioned
19. Given the shit all over them and how emotional Richie is, it seems like this would be at the end after they leave the sewers? Idk his scream could be about several things, but it’s just the kind of scream that says “my best friend in the whole wide world and completely hetero lifemate just got his arm bitten off by a weird giant spider alien thing and bled to death”
20. Andres Muschietti mentioned the underground clubhouse would be part of this movie, as well as the “tripping and coming dangerously close to dying via carbon monoxide poisoning so we can hallucinate about where It came from” part of the book but at the end Pennywise is clearly slamming the door which wasn’t part of that sequence unless i mean they may have just added it in for a scare or it could be one of the adults going back to said clubhouse and having a flashback leading into Pennywise fucking with them, either is a possibility
21. Okay so unfortunately i have egg on my face and this clearly is It (not Henry Bowers like i theorized) previously not in Pennywise form, putting on Its Pennywise form, possibly for the first time in a flashback.
22. Okay i am almost 100% sure Pennywise, Devourer of Worlds and Children, The Spider, The Deadlights, The Eternal Consumption, ends this trailer by saying “Hewwo”

Music From Bounty and The Red Machete - Seriously Awesome! ;D
Okay guys, this won’t be terribly long today. Erm—at least not compared to my Details post on Wednesday, which was a monster. This is something I’ve been trying to get to since last week, and I’m super excited to share it, because it’s a pretty big deal. It has to do with three musical aspects of Bounty, 9x11.
First, let me say there were two songs featured in this episode. It’s All Right Now, by Eddie Harris (this is the song Ezekiel played on the boombox to distract the walkers so they could go into the theater; it’s also the one we saw Jerry lip syncing and dancing to)
Tumblr media
and All My Dreaming by Emma Russack. This was played at the end when it showed everyone being happy together because the exchange went well. It’s still playing when Daryl realizes Henry has gone and goes to find him, and Connie goes with him.
It’s actually hard to find lyrics to either of these songs online, though there are youtube videos where you can just listen to them. Neither is difficult to hear and decipher.
I don’t have tons to say about the first song, It’s All Right Now. This is one of those songs where that line “It’s all right now,” is literally sung over and over and over again for the entire song. You hear the singers making other, extraneous comments (“Come on girl,” and Jerry’s “whoo!”) but there aren’t any other actual lyrics. So it’s a fairly happy, positive song, right? And I think it works for the Kingdomers at the theater because things go well for them. They had to fight a little harder than they’d planned to get the bulb, but they got it and nobody dies, which doesn’t happen all that often on the show.
But the one thing that really jumps out at me is when Diane comes into tell them that they have to hurry because the “boombox died” and the walkers will be coming back toward them. As in, the music died? And the music was the “it’s all right now” song. So that means it’s no longer all right.
Tumblr media
Again, I think that works well for the Carzekiel in particular because, everything’s okay for them right now. Going better than expected, actually, since Alexandria will now be attending the fair. But if you’ve read spoilers, you know things are about to go terribly, terribly wrong.
But… we also know Beth was the song bird so I really think we can relate this back to her as well. Everything was all right, then the song bird died (compare to Henry spoilers) and then everything wasn’t all right. Also remember, this was the episode with the prisoner exchange, which had some ridiculous parallels to Grady. So yeah. That’s all I have to say about that.
Tumblr media
Emma Russack’s All My Dreaming we can read into a little more. This song really only has one verse and we heard all of it in the show. (The rest of the song is just all the “oohs” we also heard in the show to tranquil music.) It’s really a very beautiful, calming song.
So here’s what it says:
All my dreaming, all my wishing
It hasn’t come through. Life’s just like that
And I don’t know what I am looking for
But when I find it, it will feel right.
I’ve dreamt of loving, I’ve wished for control.
It hasn’t come through, but I won’t push that
Maybe all that I’ve ever wanted
Is what I have now. That is all right.
Does that sound like Daryl or what? Especially the dreaming of love bit. And it works well with what he told Henry. He’s really not happy and doesn’t have what he wants, but life’s just shit sometimes and you live with it.
The other interesting thing is that everyone it shows during the playing of this song is fairly happy: Carzekiel, Magna’s group who are happy to have Luke back, Enid and Alden, Tammy and Earl with the baby, etc. The only unhappy ones are Daryl
Tumblr media
and Henry.
Tumblr media
(Quick aside about the above pic of Daryl. Someone in my group (forget who) something very interesting. It looks similar to this pic from Still,
Tumblr media
Even if the light is a different color, it’s still behind him, silhouetting him. We also know that Beth was Daryl’s light (confirmed by Norman). So between that, and the prisoner exchange that just happened, you know he has to be thinking about her right here. Meanwhile, this song is playing…)
So what does this mean? More than just a reminder of her, I think it shows the Whisperers and this whole thing with Henry will lead to her. More on that in a minute, but I’m once again going to argue the “domino shit” card here. Henry couldn’t live with the results of the prisoner exchange, which lead to Daryl going out after him, and that will lead to what happens the rest of the season. And I think it will lead to Beth in some way.
Okay, one final thing to talk about, which I actually this is the MOST exciting of the three. You guys are gonna love this. Again, I have to credit @wdway with this because I wouldn’t have thought of it. If you listen to the music that plays when Daryl takes Lydia outside the gates for the prisoner exchange, it’s very distinctive music. I think it’s a mixture of drums and some kind of horn, but it sounds like a very ominous drum roll.
@wdway said she thought it was the same music from The Red Machete. (Again, I wouldn’t have remembered that at all or thought to check.) But she’s right. If you want to compare, listen to the music playing specifically when Daryl takes Lydia out and has her by the arm. It only lasts a few seconds and then stops.
Then get on Youtube and find The Red Machete. Listen to the last two minutes or so when it shows Legs come out and claim the red machete. It’s the EXACT same music. I think the Red Machete one has a faster tempo and sounds bolder (might just be a volume thing) but it’s still the same music.
undefined
youtube
So we discussed what this meant. Does it mean Lydia is Legs? Well, we already discussed how Cassidy McClincy (who plays Lydia) has a body type a lot like Emily’s, so it’s possible. But I really don’t think so. For two reasons:
1. I think if she or even Alpha or Beta had the red machete, we’d have seen it by now. We would have seen it really early on because that would be a big deal to have one of them wielding Rick’s red machete. I doubt they’d wait so many episodes to be like, “oh, by the way…” It’d be more epic than that. I actually thought, from the trailer, that when it showed Alpha in the woods, obviously hiding a weapon behind her leg (it was when Luke and Alden saw her just before being captured) it might be the red machete. But it wasn’t. It was a double-barreled shot gun. So yeah, we really haven’t seen it yet and that’s important.
2. There’s still the fact that they hid Legs’s face/identity. We didn’t know who Lydia was back when the Red Machete aired. There was no reason to hide her face. It would have been better to show it so that when she showed up in the show, the audience would have been like, *gasp* “she has the red machete!” (gasp gif) In fact, they used that exact tactic with an earlier mini series that had to do with Fear. The first one they did showed the virus breaking out on a plane at the beginning. One woman survived and later showed up in Fear. They got that exact reaction. Audience: *gasp* “She was the lady on the plane!!!” So I think if Legs was Lydia, th ey would have done something similar to this. Instead, they hid Legs’s identity, and there’s just no reason to do that unless she’s someone we already know and would recognize.
So what does this mean? Well, I still believe Legs is Beth, but even putting that aside for a moment, the parallel music shows that something about this prisoner exchange will, as I said above about dominoes and leading to the rest of the season, also lead to Legs/the red machete.
But then we HAVE to circle back around to the parallels during the prisoner exchange, what Daryl says, this song that’s playing, all the Beth/Henry parallels this season, and of course the same ole stuff about how we saw her image twice in 9a. For me, it all still points very obviously to Beth being Legs—it kinda has to be—and this sequence leading to her in some way.
I don’t think Alpha or Beta has the red machete. I think Beth has it and will show up at some point in some way that has to do with the Whisperers.
Thoughts?
***Last minute addition: So this morning, before I got this posted, I noticed a post in my FB group. I didn’t want to add onto this because it would have taken longer (probably wouldn’t have posted until tomorrow) and it would have made it too long. But let’s just say @wdway found something that really has nothing to do with this Red Machete music parallel, but, in my mind, pretty much confirms what I’ve said here. It deserves it’s own post, and I’ll try to get to it next week. ;D ***

My first DnD character
Was a 4th edition Shardmind Rogue. He was bananas. The campaign was a wild, not from any book, do what you like, mess. I loved it. This was about ten years ago, when I was a Junior in high school. Prior to that I had played two sessions of a giant mech homebrew for 3.5, and I have no recollection of that character (human I think? Possibly a self-insert).
But I digress.
Just last year, I was asked if I wanted to join a friends DnD campaign, as they were about to start "Into the Abyss". I was so excited! They were in a new system, fifth edition(not that I even remember the old system, other than that I had a bonkers amount of choices), and I figured I'd make something cool, but out of the ordinary.
I tried to make a half-orc who wanted to be a monk, but wasn't one. So I went with fighter, but refused to use weapons (dealing 1+3str on the off chance that I connected, as my rolls were terrible). God damned awful. Hilariously bad, to be honest, but I stuck with it. By fourth level I was known as "the one punch orc" because I seemed to have an uncanny ability to only hit after the paladin had already smited, and steal all sorts of kills. Seemed I killed almost anything I ever hit. I punched a ghost to death once. Several drow. A few ooze. Got to my ASI and took tavern brawler to increase my damage.
Then the party got joined by a dwarf fighter/barbarian, who basically filled the same roll as me in the party, but was actually good at it. He came in with a +1 weapon, and +5str, so if I ever hit (about half as often as he did) I dealt D4+3str damage compared to his D8+6, and he was hitting three times a turn (two weapons).
So I started to grumble about my character. He was bad to start off with, but when I can see what it was possible for him to do? It hurt pretty bad. Destroyed my esteem for my character, and thus, destroyed his self esteem. In order to keep up with the party's strength, the DM started throwing some homebrew enemies at us, which was fair for the rest of the party but ABSOLUTELY WRECKED ME. I was all but one-shot KO'd three sessions in a row (by a drow priestess's cloud of death, then by a ghost that possessed me to attack the party, then by a giant homebrew ooze monstrosity that nuked us). During this time, the DM and I had talked, and he allowed me to "rewrite my character". He told me to take some barbarian levels, as that fit how I'd acted, and he was "going to do something to fix me". I'd been asking for brass knuckles that would increase my damage to a D6 or something, so I was stoked. We did a solo session where my character was essentially kidnapped while unconscious. I awoke to an illithid playing with my brain after having cut off my arms (you know, those things that were central to my character?). Turns out that the dragon that rules the one town had sicked his mindflayers on me to "fix my ineptitudes". He also gave the barbarian a magical stat increase so he was +1 more to hit and damage. But it turns out I now have "flencing claws" and "some memory loss of what happened before the start of the campaign" (this I assume was to take away the backstory element that made my character want to be an off-brand monk). I now dealt D10+3 damage, as three foot long claws extended from my finger tips at will. Which was cool, but WILDLY off flavor (weird) for "the punchy orc".
So now I was dealing D10+3 per hit, three hits per turn (off hand attack), averaging about 5 to 8 damage per hit (massively bad rolls), and hitting still about half the time (+6 to hit). The Dwarf was dealing 1D8+7 per hit, three hits per turn, averaging 12 to 14 per hit, and hitting almost always (+10 to hit).
And I am still getting smacked silly by the things the rest of the party are ok at dealing with.
So his "fixing me" didn't really stop my grumbling. Now my character doesn't feel like my character any more (he's a weird, wolverine-ish, barbarian/fighter with memory loss of the backstory that was central to his motivation), AND he is still lagging behind the rest of the party in pretty much every way (note, the Dwarf also has 30 more hit points than me, and took the better barbarian path, so resistance to everything while I was still trying to be in "character" and took battlerager, as I was told to make this choice before my mind was erased or I knew what was being done to me).
And the enemies kept coming. Stronger and stronger. So I kept complaining. "homebrew enemies are kinda wrecking the game for me" I said, repeatedly. Pretty much as soon as we were in combat, I was in danger of falling over (the DM won't let me die for some reason), and outside of combat I'm a low Cha character that no longer really has a backstory.
So we hit a major plot beat, and he (the DM) asked for our input. I sent him a massive message about how I love the game, I love the world he's built for us, I love the party, I like my character, but homebrew is kinda not fun.
So he did ANOTHER solo thing with me, and turned me into Venom, the Spiderman villain. I was infected by an ooze that could give me spiderclimb and a bunch of homebrew abilities (int damage when I perform a bite attack, +temp health when I bite, auto grapple when I bite(which triggers my battlerager feature to deal an additional 3 damage), +1 magical attacks, +1 AC, advantage on wis saves because I have two minds, set to a +9 to hit, D10+8 damage from my claws, D6+3str+1magic from my bites).
Yay... I complained that homebrew was wrecking the game for me, so he turned me into homebrew. Stare into the Abyss, and it stares back apparently. Lol. The concept there is enough to be off-putting to me. But I guess I lost the ability to complain that I'm lagging behind the group in power.
But I no longer love my character. Sure, I LOVE venom. My absolute favorite comic character. But Grobnak the half orc barbarian fighter is not Eddie Brock. And this ooze isn't really venom. It's.... Venom-lite. Because I am not a super hero, which is fine! I don't want to be overpowered! But the thing I'm supposed to be IS overpowered. So I don't really feel like venom. And I'm not Grobnak the wants-to-be-a-monk-and-sometimes-punches-pretty-good any more either.
But I'm going to do my best to learn to love him (Grobnak) again, because the other campaign I've been in (which all of the other characters on this blog were part of) just got put on hold indefinitely.

I love my scarf so much. I did not actually wear it outside at the house. I wear a jacket. But I've had that scarf on pretty much all day. It is the best scarf even if it sheds a lot.
Today was a good day I did not accomplish everything I wanted to accomplish but I did a lot. I slept really well last night. Had very bizarre dreams. But I got up and felt good. I woke up and had biscuits for breakfast. Got dressed and walk to the grocery store. I brought my grandma card and bought lots of food for the week. I am trying to eat at home more this week. Especially since my hours are very weird. I wandered around for a bit and then went home. I am packed everything and then I had it over to Eddie's to get a couple things I can't get at streets Market. I biked over to Eddie's though and was only there for a couple minutes. I still need to get milk and I'll probably have to get eggs at some point but for now it's fine. I used my heart boiled egg cooker to while I was gone and didn't check the eggs but I'm assuming they're okay. I'm very excited about my hard-boiled egg maker though and I really hope that I can figure out the best time frame to leave them in there to cook.
Once I got everything unpacked I made lunch. I rested for a little while and made some plans. And then I headed out to go catch the bus. I left a little bit earlier than I really need to because I wanted to get the earlier bus just in case. I think I am going to be able to get away with getting the 12:30 bus. But just so that I get used to when I'm getting off going 20 minutes early. It's nice that that bus runs so often though.
It was nice and sunny out. There's a chill in the air but I was never uncomfortable or anything. In either direction. Hot or cold. I had a nice talk with an old man at the bus stop. And then the bus came. And it was a nice ride. It's like a 25-minute ride and it's very comfortable. I got up to Wildwood and like I said I was like a half an hour early. So I walked around the neighborhood.
The neighborhood very much reminds me of Mayfair in Philadelphia. It's mostly row houses with little front yards. Lot of Old Stone. In the direct neighborhood it's all houses in churches. There's not even a corner store. I think maybe at some point I'll try to wander out a little bit farther and see if there's somewhere to eat. Now that I really plan on it but just in case something happens and I have to get something close by.
When I got there Fitsum was already there and said that Tiffany wasn't in yet. So we sat in the waiting room and talked. We accidentally both were wearing the same outfit. Well not exactly. We're both wearing brown jackets and are in shirts. And I made us laugh. It seems like we are going to be together but it's still unclear at this point. I hope we do though because he's a sweetheart. Tiffany came and found us because it turned out she was there. But it was no big deal. We went back to your office and did a bunch of paperwork. Went through how are lesson plan is going to work. And I feel so excited about it. I was pretty nervous at first but now that all my questions are answered I'm like excited. And I have so many ideas. I've written 8 months of vague themes and topics in my tablet. I think I'm just going to keep everything on my Google Drive since now I paid for it for the year anyway. I was considering getting a Chromebook since I'm going to have to be doing a lot of writing. But instead since my tablet doesn't work very well I just decided to buy a Bluetooth keyboard for it. So that should be here on Thursday. And then I can actually do my lesson plans for real. I feel very excited.
We just did a lot of going through packets and making sure all of our paperwork was good and it was just nice to be able to honestly answer questions and not have to feel silly for wanting clarity. I got my direct deposit setup and we have to take 15 hours of professional development courses over the school year. And so she help me setup my account for that. And I was able to get into the CPR first aid training class on Friday morning. So I get my first three hours of PD in and I'm excited to have that certificate my record. Even though it was a little bit of a hassle trying to figure out how to make an account for some reason. They make it like all secret like.
After we finished all of her paperwork and spent a lot of time discussing how things go. We did another walk around the building. This time we actually got to meet the other teachers that we may be working with or will be the team with the 5th graders. They were both really nice and I would be equally as excited to work with them. I think it might be nice though to have a blank slate with the new class with fitsum and there won't be a weird power Dynamic there. Of having a current teacher and a new teacher. But regardless the students were there too. They were all so sweet. They liked my jacket and they asked me if I could teach him how to sew and they asked me about other different projects that they were interested in doing. And it was just so cool they were so engaged and so sweet. I'm really excited to get to work with them. There was a couple big personalities but in the best ways. I'm very excited for this opportunity. I really think that this is going to be the exact thing I've been looking for. The rest of my jobs and lives are going to have to sort themselves out. Maybe I'll slow down my work at the BMI and take my mornings for myself. Or maybe I won't and maybe I'll still do exactly what I'm doing now. I just don't want to burn out. I want to really enjoy being able to teach and museums and do all the things that I do. But today really made me excited for going forward.
Fitsum was nice enough to give me a ride again. I'm going to have to figure out a way to tell him I will give him money. Because him giving me a ride back is saving me like $16 every time. It's like even if I throw him like 20 bucks a week or something. It would be worth it to me. You also just lose them walking into my apartment though so I think he just it is being kind and just giving you rides. But I don't want to take advantage he's so nice. I really just hope that we become friends too cuz I think he's a really cool guy. He was telling me some about working in Ethiopia and the culture there. And I'm curious to learn more.
Once I got home I have kind of a going back and forth doing things all night. I watched the new Shane Dawson documentary series. And I ate snacks. I've been eating snacks all night. I work in my studio for a while. I played with the new Furbys. They both had some corrosion inside of them from their batteries leaking so I had to clean that up with vinegar. But they're both working just fine and they were chatting with each other. They do make that high-pitched screeching sound that I read about. So I may take them apart and disconnect the wires. Honestly I might disconnect all of their speaking wires because I'm not super a fan of their voices. But I still think they're very cute. I like the way that they move they're very active. So I think painting with them is going to be really interesting.
I talked to James for a little while he's at his apartment having a D&D night. I think I just have too much social anxiety to participate. I told him I would be a guest are at some point but I just don't know if I could play with them and feel comfortable enough to do it. But we'll see I don't know. I like doing it one on one with James that one time though I hope we can do that again cuz I did enjoy that.
I did fall down the stairs. I hurt my hand a little bit but I'm okay. I mostly just scared me. I took a shower and wash my hair. And it's just chilling at my apartment and I'm wearing Chenille socks and leggings and I feel very cozy. I think I'm going to switch my stuff for work into my new work tote bag. That I have gotten from my causebox. It's such a pretty bag and I think it's going to be perfect for carrying all my papers and things. And it stands so I feel like if it gets paint on it and stuff it'll be cool. I think now though I'm going to start winding down for bed. I have to wake up early tomorrow and try to get some more done. And then I have to go over to Northern Parkway to get my fingerprints done for the city to get an ID and a background check. And then I have to go to Wildwood at 12:30 for staff meeting. I'm very excited for that I think it's going to be very fun. I'm excited too more formally meet everyone. So I hope it's just another really nice day. I hope you guys all have a great night and sleep well. Be safe out there. Be kind

I’ve Been Flirting With You // Stan Uris x Tozier!Readers
Request: Could you do prompts 46, 48, and 50 for a Stan x reader? thanks :)
46) “I wanna hug you and never let go.”
48) “Are you…jealous?”      “No.”      “You so are!”
50) “That was the cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard, congrats.”
Warnings: really cheesy pickup lines, reader is Richie’s twin
For me, falling for Stan Uris was easy. His sarcasm, his noodle hair, how he put Richie in his place; the list continued forever. And I never attempted to keep my feelings for the jewish boy a secret, hell the whole losers club and even all of Derry probably knew about my crush on Stan. And I could place money on the fact that Eddie probably told Stan, but Stan never approached me about my feelings so either he doesn’t know they exist or he just doesn’t care.
And since I didn’t really care to hide my feelings, I constantly flirted/ hit on Stanley. It was something I guess I shared in common with Richie, my twin, some might say (except for the fact that my comments were never as vulgar as Richie’s). I knew Richie wondered why I liked Stan so much at first, but mostly he didn’t care because he knew even if I ended up dating the boy, Stan would be good to me and that was good enough for Richie.
Stan and I were not super close, but I made sure to always let him know that I was around in my own *special* way.
The first thing I said when I saw him this morning was, “Are you a parking ticket? ‘Cause you’ve got fine written all over you.”
Then at the quarry, “I may not be a genie, but I can make your dreams come true.”
But as we rode our bikes side by side heading towards Main Street, I thought of my best one yet.
“Hey Stan, you’re religious, right?”
“Um, yeah, I’m the rabbi’s son, (Y/N). Why would you ask me that.”
“Oh, because I wanted to let you know that I’m pretty sure you’re the answer to all my prayers.”
I looked back over to see that Stan had stopped his bike and his cheeks were tinted pink.
“That was the cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard, congrats,” I heard Beverly say sending a knowing wink towards me, riding ahead of Stan and myself.
And now, the losers club were all standing around outside the local movie theater to see The Karate Kid Part III.
“I’m just saying, there is no way this will be as good as the original Karate Kid! The sequels always sucks,” Ben states quite matter of factly.
“Excuse me, but Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back was soooo much better than Star Wars,” I responded, knowing that anyone with half-a-brain would agree with me.
“I taught her everything she knows about Star Wars,” Richie commented and put his arm around my shoulder.
“No you didn’t,” I retaliated by stepping away from my brother with coke bottle glasses and over to Stan, “because you and I both know you fell asleep while we saw it with dad for the first time.”
“Guys, the booth is open, let’s get our tickets,” Beverly announced and we all hurried to get snacks and grab seats.
I was placed between Stan and Beverly, a bucket of popcorn with M&M’s mixed in was sitting in my lap and I had no intentions of sharing it with either of them. I looked over to Stan excitedly since we had both seen the first movie in the series together only a few years ago and The Karate Kid was the movie we bonded over.
“Are you excited?” He questioned, chuckling at my giddiness.
“Hell yeah I am!” I quickly responded, “Ralph Macchio is so cute! So of course”
I saw Stan’s cheeks flush at my comment as his face lost any sign of emotion which only happened if Richie said something naughty (which was often) or if he was irritated.
“Stan what’s wrong?” I asked, but he just shook his head, “Stanley… you know I’ll pester you till you tell me what suddenly got your britches in a bunch. Now was it something I said?” He nodded, it was barely there, but he did nod, “Was it my comment about Ralph?”
“… maybe” he said flatly, and I could see his cheeks turning pink in the pale light coming of the screen which was playing an assortment of ads.
“Are you… jealous?” I raised the question, “of Ralph Macchio?”
“No.” Stan replied quickly, too quickly which was the first of many indicators the he was lying.
“You so are!” I laughed and slapped his arm lightly, “don’t worry, I think you’re much cuter than Ralph.”
Stanley’s cheeks flushed even more and he suddenly took my hand in his, which was shocking, but enjoyed the feeling of my hand in his own.
Two hours later, it was an hour till curfew and the temperature had dropped a bit with the heat of the Sun slowly fading away. Stan and I stood outside while the rest of our friends used to restroom or played in the little arcade the theater had set up inside.
We were making casually conversation, most of which Stan was talking the birds that were still returning back to Derry from their migration much further south, when a chill set through my spine, “Man, I should’ve brought a sweater with me.”
“Here,” Stan hands me his windbreaker he brought with him, “Mike always says that I’m a human heat generator.”
“Mike is right,” I commented as I wrapped the slightly over sized clothing around my body. I knew I probably shouldn’t mistake the current events as a sign that Stan indeed returned feelings for me but it would be nice if it were true.
“Hey, um (Y/N), this might sound weird but… I wanna hug you and never let go,” he quickly spat out ,”I’m sorry, I just kind of have feelings for you and I’m pretty sure that we’ve kind of been flirting with eachother all day and-”
I pressed a kiss the his cheek to silence, “I’ve been flirting with you since fifth grade, Stan, but at least you finally caught on.”

I’m Lucky I’m In Love With My Best Friend
Summary: Richie and Eddie honeymoon in Costa Rica
Pairing: Reddie
Rating: Explicit
A/N: This one is for you, Megan ( @theriodiaries ) . I hope it helps make you feel a little bit better. I love you, Darling, I hope you know how special and wonderful you are. 💖💖💖
NSFW Under the Cut...
Eddie smiled as he looked out at the shore line, the crystal clear water cresting and tumbling over itself. The sun was shining bright, and the whole world just felt ethereal. Eddie took a deep breath, fresh air filling his lungs. Costa Rica was beautiful, Eddie felt more at peace than he had in years.
Eddie’s smile widened when he felt arms wrap around him, a solid body pressing into his back, and soft lips making there way to his neck. He let out a little giggle at the feeling.
“Good morning, Sleepy Head, or should I say afternoon?” He teased, and got a short groan in return as he was squeezed tighter.
“What can I say? My super hot and amazing husband kept me up all night. I just can’t seem to say no to him when he’s begging for my…”
“Beep beep, Richie. Don’t ruin the moment.” Eddie cut him off, diverting his attention back to the scene off of their balcony. Richie let out a soft chuckle and straightened himself out, resting his chin on top of Eddie’s head.
“Sorry, Baby. It sure is beautiful here, huh? Way better than back home.” Richie mused. Eddie nodded in agreement. It was twenty degrees and snowing back in Derry, it was most definitely miserable if Stan’s most recent snap was any indication, but Eddie knew that even if they were in the freezing cold everything would be okay as long as he had Richie with him. He fidgeted with the platinum band on his left ring finger a little bit. “Penny for your thoughts? They’re awfully loud.”
“I’m just thinking about how much I love you, and how lucky I am to be in love with my best friend in the whole world, and married to him.” Eddie said, pulling away to look up at his husband. Richie smiled back down at him, black curls wild and all over the place, freckles dotting his slightly pink tinged face, and those brown eyes shining brightly behind his glasses like they always did when he was looking at Eddie.
“I love you too, Hubby.” Richie replied, leaning down to press a sweet kiss to Eddie’s lips. It wasn’t rushed, no hidden purpose, just a soft display of their love. They were married now, they didn’t have to rush anything or worry about being pulled apart from each other. They had all the time in the world, all of the possibilities, they belonged to each other. Richie pulled away and Eddie curled into his touch, enjoying the feeling of being wrapped tight in Richie’s arms, bare skin on bare skin. “So what do you want to do today, Spaghetti Man? There’s jet skis, or we can lay on the beach all day, or we can go swim with dolphins…” Eddie perked up at that suggestion, bouncing on the balls of his feet with excitement like he was a little kid.
“Can we please go and swim with the dolphins, that sounds amazing?” Eddie asked, and Richie just smiled back down at him. He loved this man so much.
“Of course, Eddie. Why don’t you go put some clothes on first? I don’t need all of the other people on the tour ogling over that hot ass of yours.” Richie said with a wink and Eddie rolled his eyes a little before pressing a kiss to Richie’s cheek and hurrying off to get dressed.
-
“That was amazing, Richie, I can’t believe that we got to see whales and turtles too. And the dolphins! I never thought that I would be okay with a sea creature kissing my face, but that was magical. This whole trip has been so perfect.” Eddie rambled on as they walked hand in hand along the beach. They had just gotten back from their dolphin tour and it was late afternoon. The sun was beginning to drop in the sky a little, and it set a romantic glow over everything.
“I’m so glad you liked it, Baby Boy.” Richie told him, swinging their hands slightly between them. They moved towards a little bar on the beach to get some drinks. Richie smiled politely at the man behind the counter. “Can I have a margarita please and a peach daquiri for this one.” He ordered, and Eddie pinched his side fondly.
He wandered off to find a place for the two of them to sit with their drinks. He plopped himself down, tucking his knees to his chest. He watched as a few couples waded through the water, playfully splashing each other. Their happiness made Eddie smile. He didn’t even notice that Richie had joined him again until a sugary peach colored drink was being waved in front of his face.
“Thank you, Love.” Eddie said, taking the drink and sipping from the straw. The drink was sweet and refreshing on his tongue and he closed his eyes, savoring it. Richie watched him thoughtfully. Costa Rica had done wonders for Eddie. His dark hair was wavy, curling slightly at the ends. His skin was golden and glowing, even more so than normal, and was being shown off by Eddie’s impossibly short swim shorts. He would never give short shorts up, and Richie never wanted him to. Eddie turned his attention to him suddenly and laughed when Richie tried to act like he hadn’t just been staring. “You know, Tozier. You’re officially my husband, so you’re kind of allowed to stare.” Richie rolled his eyes and laughed.
“I’ll keep that in mind, Tozier.” He took a sip from his margarita and laced their fingers together. “Eds, you’re happy right? Happy that we got married even though…” He broke off from his thought. Eddie did know, they had been met with some resistance, even from their friends. They understood their concerns, but it was and had always been them against the world in way. They had been in love with each other since way before either of them knew what that meant.
“I am beyond happy. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I don’t care that we are young...really young, this is perfect. You and I, we are simply meant to be.” Eddie said honestly, reaffirming his feelings for Richie.
They were young. Eddie had just turned eighteen the week before, and Richie only two months prior. They were high school seniors, still counting down the days to graduation, but they had taken a step forward into their adult lives already. Everyone knew that they would get married one day, but they figured that they would wait a bit longer.
The Losers were a little concerned when Richie and Eddie had told them about their plan, but they came around to it. Bill and Bev had painted and decorated the tiny loft apartment that they had rented from Bev’s Aunt Clara above her florist shop. Stan had organized every single possession that they owned into the space, and Mike had built them the most beautiful dining set that Eddie had ever seen in his entire life. Ben had helped them find the perfect little chapel outside of Derry to exchange their vows.
The Losers were in attendance of course, as well as Richie’s mom, Mike’s grandparents, Bev’s Aunt Clara, and Stan’s parents. They were the supportive adults that they had in their lives, and although they all had some reservations about how young Richie and Eddie were, but they also knew how strong the love that the two of them shared was, and how stubborn they were.
Eddie had worn a lavender suit jacket with black pants, a white button down, and a black and white polka dot bow tie, courtesy of Bev. Richie wore a suit jacket and pants, with one of his crazy hawaiian shirts underneath, an orange tie, and a pair of vans sneakers. Stan had tried desperately to talk him out of it, but Richie was having none of it. Eddie knew who he was marrying, and accepted him for who he was. They got married by a man who had an accent like Elvis, without the cheesy costume, and shared personalized vows with each other. There was not a dry eye in that chapel, and everyone clapped as they shared their first kiss and walked out hand in hand as husbands.
The trip to Costa Rica had been a joint surprise from all of the Losers and Maggie. They had pooled their money together, and Maggie covered the difference, so that the boys could spend a week playing hooky from school in the beautiful and warm climate of Costa Rica for their honeymoon, and here they were. In the most beautiful place that either of them had ever seen, together.
“God...I just love you to pieces. You have no idea.” Richie said, shaking his head slightly. It was true, he would never be able to find the words to say how much Eddie meant to him, how Eddie had saved him on more than one occasion, becoming the light in his life.
“Mmmmm, I may have an idea of how you could show me…” Eddie said seductively and Richie’s head perked up like a dog. He looked at Eddie who was biting his lower lip and looking at Richie like he was two seconds from jumping his bones in front of all of these people on the beach with them.
Richie was up on his feet in record time and pulling Eddie along with him as he ran back to their cabana. Eddie giggled as he was dragged along, joking about how Richie was going to spill his drink. Richie didn’t care, he would buy Eddie as many drinks as he wanted some other time, right now he only had one thing on his mind.
Eddie had barely set the glass down when they got back to their room before Richie was scooping him up in his arms. Eddie wrapped his legs around Richie’s waist, clinging onto him while he began sucking another mark onto the skin of Richie’s neck. Richie dropped him down on the bed, and Eddie whined briefly before Richie was back on top of him.
Richie pressed a heated kiss to Eddie’s lips, loving all of the tiny moans that he was pulling out of him. He slid his hands down to Eddie’s waist and pulled back so that he could begin to wiggly his tiny shorts off of him. He dropped them on the floor behind him, and went to work on his own while Eddie pulled his own tank top off over his head.
Richie pressed himself forward again, covering Eddie’s body with his own. Eddie bracketed Richie’s hips with his thighs, holding on tightly to his back, the two of them lazily pressing their tongues into each other’s mouths, any feeling of rushing they had while making their way back to their room lost. Richie dropped his lips down to Eddies neck, trailing kisses down his chest, stopping to twirl his tongue around each of his nipples and blowing gently to make the peaks rise with arousal. Eddie moaned and arched slightly off of the bed from the sensation.
Richie dropped lower and placed a kiss to the soft skin on the inside of Eddie’s thigh. Eddie sucked in a breath of anticipation as Richie lifted himself up a little so that his mouth was level with Eddie’s cock. Richie slid his mouth down Eddie’s length with practised ease, he hollowed out his cheeks and began moving up and down, pulling delicious sounds out of Eddie’s mouth. It didn’t take very long before Eddie was trembling, the wet heat of Richie’s mouth satisfying him so nicely, but he wanted more, he wanted to cum on Richie’s cock.
“Mmmm, Baby. I want you inside of me, I need to feel you.” Eddie moaned out, and Richie pulled off with a pop, pressing one last kiss to the very tip of Eddie’s cock. He reached up and Eddie pressed a small bottle into his hand. Richie popped the cap on it and let some of the slick liquid drip down his fingers, the scent of coconut filled his nostrils.
He made sure that his fingers were nicely coated before he pressed one into Eddie’s hole. Eddie took it easily, ass hungry and ready for more. Richie thrusted in a few more times before pressing two fingers in. He worked Eddie open, nice and slow. Scissoring his fingers and flicking his wrist until Eddie was writhing on the bed, begging for more. Richie pushed three fingers in, thrusting in and out at a steady rhythm and then bent his fingers, searching Eddie’s wall to find his spot. Eddie let out a high pitched whine all of a sudden and Richie knew that he had found it. He pressed into that spot with every thrust until Eddie’s mouth was dropped open in a tiny “o” and his legs were shaking again.
Richie pulled his fingers out carefully and Eddie groaned at the loss. He poured more of the lube onto his fingers, and gently stroked his cock a few times, making sure that it was coated so that he could slide painlessly into Eddie. He moved back into position and looked down into Eddie’s eyes. They were glistening sightly with tears, but he looked so happy.
“Are you ready?” Richie asked softly, and Eddie nodded. A sweet smile spreading across his lips. Richie leaned down and kissed them again. He lined the head of his cock up with Eddie’s hole. “I love you more than life itself, Edward Tozier.” He murmured.
“I love you too, Richard Tozier.” Eddie returned, and then Richie was pressing in gently, Eddie’s body stretching to accommodate him. They fit together perfectly, they always had. Richie started thrusting gently, building up a slow and steady rhythm that had Eddie itching for more. He tried to make Richie speed up b wrapping his legs around his waist, but Richie wanted to take this slow, to pour out all of the love that he had for Eddie in this moment. “Rich…” Eddie whined.
“You’re not going to let me take this sweet and slow are you, Eds?” He teased, and Eddie huffed and shook his head. Passionate didn’t mean slow. Richie picked up the pace, thrusting into Eddie with more force and Eddie started moaning enthusiastically. Richie angled his hips differently and smiled when on his next thrust he nailed Eddie’s prostate.
“Ohhhhhhh fuck.” Eddie gasped out, racking his blunt nails down Richie’s back. He could feel his climax approaching, the constant stimulation of his prostate driving him wild. He started clenching himself around Richie, trying to pull him closer to his own orgasm.
“God, Eds, you’re so perfect.” Richie choked out, and Eddie mewled from the praise. Richie thrusted in a few more times before Eddie let out another choked moan and came in between their bodies untouched. Richie sloppily thrusted a few more times before he was pressing deep inside of Eddie and cumming as well.
He collapsed on top of Eddie, the aftershocks of his orgasm too much for him to stay up. Eddie wrapped his arms around him, and held him close. Richie went to pull out a few moments later, but Eddie wouldn’t let go of him.
“Leave it in, Baby. I like the way it feels. I always want to feel you inside of me.” Eddie said softly with a yawn. Richie moaned from the thought of it and nodded, leaving his cock nestled inside of Eddie, nuzzling his nose into the side of Eddie’s neck as they both gave into their exhaustion. He was almost asleep when he heard Eddie singing softly. “I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend, lucky to have been where I have been, lucky to be coming home again, oh oh oh…”
Richie smiled as Eddie’s singing turned to mumbling and then even breathes as he fell asleep. They really were so lucky have found each other and loved each other so deeply, and Richie would spend the rest of his life making sure that Eddie always knew that.

Characters: Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak, Beverly Marsh, Ben Hanscom, Stan Uris, Mike Hanlon, Bill Denbrough, Audra Phillips
Pairings: Reddie, Stenbrough, Benverly, (Possible?? Audra x Mike? Aromantic Mike? Let me know what you think!)
Warnings: Homophobia, swearing, underage drinking and smoking
Word Count: 1,676
Author Notes: Some chapters will be based on a song from the movie, I’m not sure if I’ll do each song but if there’s a specific song you would like me to include, let me know in my ask box!
Also, the losers are very ooc. I understand they’re nothing like the way I’m portraying them in my story. Please do not get angry for the way I’m writing them, it’s apart of this au solely and that’s not how I actually view them.
This chapter will be a combination of ‘Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee!’ and ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ ! Thank Jasmine for that decision y’all.
Also, the beginning chapters will focus on Eddie mainly, but I will have chapters dedicated to just Richie of course!! Also, I know there isn’t much dialogue, chapter three will have tons of dialogue and much more interaction between the characters! I’m sorry, this is shitty writing.
You know I’m just a fool who’s willing / To sit around and wait for you /
It was Friday, the night of the pep rally. Everything was going according to plan, Eddie was asked to be a ‘manleader’ (Although, he couldn’t comprehend why he couldn’t be called a cheerleader, just like the rest of the girls). He was sitting on the sidelines, waiting for the halftime performance. The brunette boy felt anxious all night, not in fear that he’s preforming in front of the entire school but because he could possibly be preforming in front of the boy he was hopelessly devoted to. All night, the boy scanned the bleachers for the curly haired boy wearing a leather jacket but never saw him. However, Eddie did meet one of Derry high’s football players, but he was no Richie. He was nice, don’t get Eddie wrong but nothing about him made him feel the way Richie made him feel.
It was ridiculous really, how can Eddie possibly pine over a boy he’d only known for three months? How much of a fool can he be?
If it wasn’t for the stupid promise he made for Richie, maybe just maybe, he wouldn’t be constantly longing for his warmth, for his touch. He wouldn’t be sitting around, waiting around for his greaser boy.
But now there’s nowhere to hide / since you’ve pushed my love aside
The crowd erupted in cheers, the final touchdown was made and it so happened Derry was the team who scored it. There was still no sign of the boy who wouldn’t leave Eddie’s head in the bleachers. Eddie could feel a part of him break but he knew he couldn’t let that ruin his night, he was sleeping over Bev’s house tonight anyways. What could possibly go wrong?
After a couple of hugs and ‘Great Game!’s from both the cheer team and football team. Eddie set off to find his new friends. Of course that didn’t take long, you could be five miles away and still spot the fire headed girl known as Beverly Marsh.
“Eddie! You did amazing out there!” Bev cheered wrapping her arms around the boy.
Eddie smiled back and waved to Stan and Audra, “Hey Eddie! We got a surprise for ya!” Stan smiled grabbing Eddie’s hand.
Eddie shot a confused look towards Bev and she didn’t seem to know what was going on either. The boy reluctantly followed the curly haired boy to the parking lot.
Meanwhile, the school’s greasers were smoking and fucking around with each other, “Alright! Guys, that’s enough.” Richie shouted over the three boys horse playing with each other.
“C’mon Tozier! Your panties have been in a twist ever since we got back to this hellhole!” Mike shoved him playfully but only resulted in Richie shoving him slightly harder.”
“Woah!” The other three boys shouted simultaneously. Richie only rolled his eyes and gave them the bird, “Fuck off.”
“H-here looks like y-you need it.” Bill tossed over a lighter and a pack of cigarettes towards Richie. Richie thanked him silently and nodded his head.
“Hey Tozier!” An all too familiar voice sounded.
All four boys whipped around to face Stan and his gang. Richie only rolled his eyes and took a deep breath, “What is it Uris?”
“Got a surprise for ya.” Stan yanked Eddie’s arm and pushed him in front of Richie.
“Eddie?”
“Richie?”
“I thought you were going back to New York?” Richie couldn’t contain his excitement, it was something about Eddie that always made him soft.
“We had a change of plans!” Eddie giggled.
“What about you Chee? I got some of your letters when I went back to New York to get the rest of my stuff!”
“I-”
“Ahem.” Ben scoffed behind Richie causing his face to fall back into seriousness.
“Richie? What’s the matter?” Eddie searched Richie’s eyes for some sort of answer.
“What’s the matter with me? What’s the matter with you baby?” Richie smirked. The other three boys laughed behind him.
“Rich? What happened to the Richie I met at the quarry?”
“I don’t know, maybe you should find him.” Richie laughed elbowing Bill, making him laugh as well. Except, Richie’s laugh wasn’t real. Anyone who really knew him would know that. Clearly, his friends didn’t see that.
Genuine or not, that didn’t stop Eddie from lashing out on the boy he thought he knew, You’re-you are- you’re such a fucking asshole! I wish I never met you at all!” He shoved Richie and ran off with tears springing in his eyes.
The guys were hooting and hollering, Audra shook her head at Richie, and Bev took off after Eddie; Leaving a Stan Uris with a tilted head and smirk.
“Got what you wanted Uris?” Richie growled after the boys walked away along with Audra.
“I hope you’re happy.” He continued.
“Come to think of it, yeah, I am.” Stan smirked and averted his attention to Bill who came back to retrieve his leader.
“Billy.” Stan said with a bittersweet tone and walked away.
My head is saying, “Fool, forget him.” / My heart is saying, “Don’t let go. / Hold on till the end.” / And that’s what I intend to do / I’m hopelessly devoted to you
Eddie found himself crying against Bev’s car while she rubbed her hand up and down his back, “God, how can I be such an idiot Bev?”
She only shook her and continued to rub her hand up and down his back, “You didn’t know hun, how can you possibly? Whichever Richie you met back in Summer is the Richie you know. This Richie on the other hand, he’s trash.”
Eddie laughed through his tears, Now there’s the Eddie I know.” Bev smiled.
“Thanks Bev, it means a lot.”
“Eddie, honey, all men are trash. You can’t depend on them for shit.”
“I’m a guy.”
“Besides you! And maybe Ben. He’s a sweetheart.” She smiled. The freckled girl looked down at her watch and gave Eddie a sympathetic smile, “Hey, why don’t you go home and get a bit of rest before I pick you up for our sleepover tonight?”
Eddie happily agreed and gave her his address. He said goodbye to his friend and began his walk home. The silence couldn’t help but let Eddie think about the events that happened only an hour ago.
Forget him, he doesn’t want you anyways.
Don’t let go, he loves you.
“I’m hopelessly devoted to a prick.” Eddie sighed under his breath.
Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee.
After quite a bit of convincing from his mom, Eddie managed to get into Bev’s car and head off to her place for their sleepover.
“What’s the deal with the guys having to act macho all the time? It’s ridiculous!” Audra sighed painting her nails.
“They have to live up to their reputation Auddie, that’s just how it is.” Stan sighed pulling a bottle of cheap wine from his backpack.
“Hey Eddie wanna see something cool?” Bev asked causing Eddie to avert his attention towards her. She blew smoke from the side of her half close mouth. Stan only rolled his eyes and pulled out a cigarette himself, “Want one Eddie?”
Eddie only shook his head, “Oh no thank you. Smoking can kill you.”
Stan rolled his eyes again and blew a couple of more smokes before placing the stick between his fingers and popping open the cheap wine.
“Finally!” Audra cheered taking a chug of the cheap wine.
“Ever drank before Eddie?” Audra asked handing the bottle over to Bev.
“I had some champagne at a wedding once!” Eddie explained.
“Oh wow! Sounds like a wild night!” Stan sarcastically remarked causing Bev to throw a pillow at him.
“Here c’mon. Just try a little smoke at least!” Stan sighed and handed over his cigarette to the boy. Eddie hesitantly took the stick from him and inhaled causing him to cough.
“Right, I forgot to tell you not to inhale the first time you do it.” Stan stifled a laugh.
“Here, wash it down with this.” Audra said handing over the bottle of alcohol. Poor Eddie didn’t realize what Audra handed him until he took a swing of the cheap wine and grimaced.
“Bev, I don’t feel so good.” Eddie moaned, holding his stomach.
Bev got up and quickly led him to her bathroom. Stan bit back a laugh while Audra quickly cleaned.
“God, how did he manage to drink the champagne?”
You got your crust, I’m no object of lust, I’m just plain Sandra Dee!
After the whole ordeal, Eddie rested on Bev’s bed while the others talked. Their conversation was interrupted when they heard a honk. Audra, Stan, and Bev made their way towards the window and saw none other than their fellow T-Birds.
“W-we’re heading o-over to the dr-rive in! Wanna c-come?” Bill shouted.
“Guys we can’t, Eddie still isn’t feeling good and my folks are home!” Beverly whispered-shouted.
“Well, I’ll go then! Cover for me!” Stan suggested, climbing out the window.
Richie only huffed when he saw Stan making his ways towards Bill, “What’s got your dick in a twist Tozier? Want Juliet to come on down too?”
Whether Stan intended for Eddie to hear what he just said or Eddie had super hearing, he answered for Richie, “Tell them no. I’m not Richie’s object.” He snapped.
Bev and Audra only looked at each other and repeated what Eddie just told them.
Stan got in the passengers seat next to Bill and planted a kiss on the stuttering boy, “Thought it would just be us at the drive-in Denbrough?”
Bill only smirked and turned around to his friends, “Get out of my car.”
“The fuck Bill?” Richie rose an eyebrow.
“Did I fucking stutter? Get out of my car and walk!” Bill shouted a little louder.
Ben, Mike, and Richie huffed but obliged as they watched Bill’s broken down car speed off.
“He’s right you know,” Ben stated breaking the silence.
“What?” Richie responded.
“He didn’t stutter.”

ships thing: dctv, go go go!
otp - I’m really invested in the little Island Family Oliver had with Shado and Slade before everything became terrible, so Oliver/Shado/Slade or Oliver/Slade is a thing I really like. I’m adamantly opposed to anything that would break up WestAllen in like a main-universe kind of way. And I’m never gonna be over Merlance (Tommy/Laurel) ever for some reason.
favourite canon pairing - Olicity? But, like, I probably have a longer WestAllen tag. I feel like I’m invested in both of them fairly equally but am more actively into Arrow as an overall show and fandom simply because I’m more saturated in it if nothing else. I really like Olicity, but I don’t list it as an OTP because it’s one of those things that I feel like works now and should work and continue to work, but it wouldn’t have been, like, the only endgame for either of them and I feel like that is one of the things I like about it.
worst pairing ever - I remember being super uncomfortable with Barry/Linda Park. I’m very behind on The Flash, but I still cringe when I think about the tension between Linda and Iris and how uncomfortable Barry was at the thought of actually being intimate with her. I tried to like her because I don’t like disliking characters who aren’t evil, especially women and girls, but ugh my skin crawls.
guilty pleasure pairing - I guess Oliver/Slade except I’m super serious about it. I also used to ship an OT3 of the OTA but Diggle has been pretty happily married and settled for quite some time now, so the occasional vibes I get about that I guess count. Barry/Kara because I absolutely don’t want to break up Barry/Iris for any reason whatsoever, but I would be absolutely thrilled with some type of healthy polyamory. I just feel like I can’t ever read that though unless it’s written for me because it seems so fraught with potential pitfalls. As far as a ship that makes me feel guilty that is probably it, but I am 1000% here for their canonical platonic thing. Also, for the same reason with Diggle, this year in particular John/Laurel has occurred to me for complicated reasons, and I kind of like it? But also Diggle is happy with Lyla and uh... yeah.
a pairing you want to see more - Oliver/Shado/Slado, Oliver/Slade, and I have never seen it even once but I want to play with John/Laurel, Tommy/Laurel, Sara/Nyssa (in canon specifically), Barry/Iris/Eddie Thawne
that pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no” - I hate SnowBarry, like, a lot and tumblr’s suggested posts suggest it to me all the time for some reason. It’s more a meta reason than anything else - I’m usually into multishipping and live and let whatever but it bothers me. Even though I’m very into the DCTV crossovers and Arrow more as a standalone show because I’ve seen way more of it and so on, when The Flash first came out I was super excited about trying to keep up with it as it aired. And I did... for a while, but then the various fandom things that just were flat-out racist and/or blind-as-bats and so on about Iris and Barry/Iris’s canonical inevitability and how it created an environment in which WestAllen fans and just Iris on her own fans had to almost take the defensive positive forever (in a way that still is unfortunate in other ways) seems to be highly connected with people who preemptively shipped SnowBarry. And it is a double-standard that a lot of us preemptively shipped Barry/Iris from before the pilot was officially released because mythologically WestAllen is not only canon but kind of vital to the plot of The Flash. Like, one could get into how Oliver/Dinah (Laurel) never gets actual play on television adaptations as an endgame for... some weird reason like it’s cursed for it to ever work out in a palpable way, but WestAllen is different. WestAllen working out, rough patches and all, was kind of a foregone conclusion because their being best friends and family and having children together was part of the plot that everyone reasonably anticipated with Barry’s super-speed also giving way to time and parallel dimension travel and so on. The people who preemptively shipped SnowBarry were totally going on aesthetics (*cough*) and there was really, truly no way to genuinely argue otherwise. I could see little moments of chemsitry with them in S1, but here’s the thing... even friends have chemistry or they wouldn’t be friends. And I just... cannot ship it, won’t ship it, and it creeps me out. I don’t know if “everyone” likes it, but it’s common enough that I know some of my fandom friends at least entertain it as a multishipping option, but because of the environment that existed in the build-up to Season 1 of The Flash, I just cannot regardless of whether there are some people who are doing it in a multishipping way fairly innocently who got into it later.
favorite non-romantic pair - The OTA even though part of it is now romantic was always one of my favorite things. Barry, Kara, and Oliver in the crossovers. I really like Oliver and either of the Lance sisters as friends after being lovers as a specific narrative thing I like even though it got fumbled and rarely gets addressed. Oliver and William. Gosh I can’t list all of this. I like ALL the non-romantic stuff.
Give me another fandom for the ships thing?
