Come At Me
You and Ekko decide to spar when things get a little out of hand….
Ekko x reader
“Come at me little man.” You coo, using Ekko’s childhood nickname to annoy him.
It works. You watch his dark eyes narrow into a pointed glare as he brings his fists up in front of his face. His fighting stance mimics the one Vi had taught you both, all those years ago.
“Careful (Y/n),” Ekko teases you back, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, “or you’re gonna have your ass handed to you.”
In one smooth movement, Ekko launched himself at you. You watch as his right fist flies towards your face. With ease you block his right hook, grabbing ahold of his arm and twisting it.
Ekko let’s out a pained grunt but doesn’t stop his attack, and instead knees you harshly in the stomach. A ragged cough leaves your lips as you lurch over, pain soaring through your stomach.
“Is that how you want to play then ?” You spit, moving an arm around your sore stomach., to cradle the bruise that was forming. You’d be a mess of purple and blue bruises tomorrow.
Ekko doesn’t even have time to respond before you’re swinging your left leg into his side. The impact of it leaves him breathless, and you take the opportunity to drive your fist into his face. A loud crunch echoes through the room. He stumbles backwards, hands flying to his nose which is definitely broken. Blood gushes from it and drips onto his hands.
“Fuck (Y/n).” He curses, sending you a nasty glare as he nurses his broken nose.
You drop your fighting stance the moment you saw the red liquid drip down his face. Guilt floods you and you drop your guard, rushing to his side.
“Shit Ekko Im so sorry.” You fuss over him, trying to move his hand from his nose so you can take a look at the damage.
A confused look spreads across your face when you see a smirk forming on his bloodied lips.
“Time for some payback.” He snickers and before you realise what’s happening, he’s grabbed your right arm and leg.
With a strained grunt the man manages to flip you over and onto your back with one single movement. Your back collides with the earth underneath you, and your breath gets caught in the back of your throat.
Pain sears through your spine and up your neck. For a moment all you see are stars clouding your vision of Ekko who’s dropped down on top of you. He’s got you pinned underneath him and you cough under his weight on top of your chest. You weakly move both arms to try and shove him off of you, pushing at his forearms which are by either side of your head. He doesn’t budge an inch.
He’s bigger than you now. Once you’d been taller than him and had teased him for his shorter stature. That cute little kid from Benzo’s shop was now a man, a leader, your leader. When Vi had disappeared and Vander died Ekko had been the one to step up. He’d pulled you out of that dark time, helped make you into the warrior that you are today. He’d saved you. When you needed a place to live he found one. When you needed a home he made one. When you were shaking, so caught up in your panic attack that you couldn’t breathe, he cradled you until you collapsed, exhausted, in his arms.
Ekko had made a whole world for you.
You could feel the thick muscle under his skin when you reached out to grab his forearms, trying without success to shove him off of you.
“Fuck you Ekko that hurt.” You grumbled at him, “and you played dirty.”
Ekko just laughed at your actions. “I thought you liked it dirty (Y/n).” His smile turns into a Cheshire Cat grin as he teases you, watching smashed as your cheeks turn pink, a hot blush coating them.
You can’t control the way your face turns red nor the way you become lost for words. All you can do is stare up at the man on top of you in awe. His hairs grown out now. It suits him more this way. A few white locks have fallen out of place and you reach up to push them behind his ear.
Ekko gulps, deep brown eyes widening as your hand hovers dangerously close next to his face. He’s so tempted to lean down and press his lips to yours, to finally know how your lips feel, how you taste. But he’s getting carried away. He needs to keep his cool. He won’t lose the only family he has left just because of his personal feelings. You’re too important to risk it.
Instead he just stammers out “What…what are you doing ?” barely able to get the words out.
You glance from his hair to his eyes, and the two of you stare at each other. There’s blood drying along Ekko’s lips and a dark purple bruise forming on your cheek, but neither of you care. A gentle loving smile breaks out onto your face, and in that moment Ekko swears he’s never seen something so beautiful.
“When Vi, Powder, Claggor, Mylo and Vander died I thought my world had ended. I didn’t see a future for me without them. But you. You pulled me up, you showed me there was still a place for me in this world. You gave me a reason to live Ekko. We had nothing and now, because of you, we have the Firelights. We have a place to call home,” you pause your speech to finally move the hand that had been playing with his hair, to gently graze his cheek, “Because of you there’s hope.”
Your words echo through his mind, and Ekko feels his heart clench and stomach flip. His hand’s almost shaking when he brings it to yours, the one resting on his face. His pupils are so blown his eyes look onyx as he gazes down at you, and your fingers interlock.
“Id build a whole world for you (Y/n).” His words warm your whole body, settling like fire in your tummy.
You don’t say anything else, there’s only silence as you bring Ekko down to meet your lips. The two of you smile through your kiss, bloodied and bruised but happy.
