El Goonish Shive news: It finally happened! Tedd looked at Sam while in Seer-mode!

Hopefully this will lead Tedd eventually finding out that Sam is the reason Grace first started looking into trans stuff, and therefore is the reason Grace was able to inform Tedd that being genderfluid is a thing all the way back during Squirrel Prophet (amazing that it took another MTG tournament storyline to finally get the payoff for that). I also hope this leads to Sam being integrated into the main friend group, thereby leading to him appearing in the story more often.

That would be great, wouldn’t it? I’d love to see him get more regular appearances and have his character fleshed out a bit further. And regardless, I’m looking forward to seeing how Tedd reacts to this information. (Beyond “obvious delight,” that is. Compare this panel to the first few chapters of the comic. Gender euphoria is a hell of a drug (positive). You love to see it.)

reading through El Goonish Shive for the first time, im obsessed with the fact that the author apparently had no knowledge of 2000s Gender Politics while writing, and was just writing what they thought was cool at the time. The comic many people have told me was their trans awakening just happened to stumble into the role of one of the most progressive of the time (ESPECIALLY during the homophobic as fuck 2000s) out of sheer coincidence.
