"I've been in the Fae realms long enough to know that there are forces that sometimes guide us, push us along. I've learned to let them. And to listen." Nesta smirked.
Hello Ms. Accepted the mating bond and is happy about it! I wonder if she's telling a certain sister she should trust the forces at work too.

Chapters: 1/? Fandom: A Court of Thorns and Roses Series - Sarah J. Maas Rating: Not Rated Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Elain Archeron, Madame Archeron, Nesta Archeron, Mr. Archeron Additional Tags: ill add more characters as I go Summary:
I have this headcanon that Elain was born a seer, not Made a seer by the cauldron. I imagine her visions were bound when she was a child, resulting in her aloof characterization in canon pre-cauldron. In the canon text post-cauldron, we see her as someone who is sharply observant and overwhelmed by visions that she doesn't know how to handle. This is the exploration of how her unexpected swim ripped off the veil that blocked the power that she already had.

How I think the IC would handle Nyx
Cassian: The fun uncle. He’s the type of uncle that would do really fun and dumb stuff with Nyx that might get the two of them i trouble with Feysand ( more specifically rhys)
Azriel: The intimidating yet gentle uncle. I feel like Nyx would be intimidated and kinda scared of Azriel, but after meeting him, I think Nyx would like him.
Nesta: The intimidating aunt. She’s the aunt that takes no bullshit from anyone. She may look scary, but make no mistake, she’s ultimate hawk aunt and if anyone messes with Nyx, that person better run.
Mor: The fun, wine aunt. She would like to playfully mess with Nyx and tell really embarrassing stories about the IC.
Elain: The wholesome, really sweet aunt. She would teach Nyx how to garden and grow vegetables and flowers and omg it’s so wholesome. Also, Rhys would tell Nyx to not underestimate her I think
Amren: The really intimidating aunt. Feysand would tell Nyx a little bit about Amren. Also. If you think Nesta is hawk aunt, then Amren is eagle aunt. She seems uncaring but beware to those who mess with her nephew.

azriel x reader series
Tumblr media
warnings: she/her reader, a little language, short!reader, reader is the archeon's half sister (no race mentioned), fluffy ish, azriel ooc, sfw, not edited oops, azriel has a big wingspan, elain slander i'm sorry i have to rafs bloo notes: this was supposed to be a blurb but i just...spiraled. first time posting a series here BE NICE. also i kind of imagine this charcater with a evie vibe hence the gif (: description: you're half fae, living life on the borders of various courts after your half siblings got dunked in the cauldron. set after acowar, feyre has invited her half-sibling to Velaris to reunite the family. but what happens after a certain shadowsinger takes interest in you?
The night air in Velaris holds a mystic chill as you ascend the multitude of steps leading to Rhysand's townhouse. More like a deathly chill,  as you’re not dressed for a trek up the small mountain stationed at what seems to be the highest point of Velaris. Finally making it to the top, you keel over, cursing whatever god decided this what your life.
Despite the weariness, a sense of anticipation lingers, excitement almost. Or maybe you’re catching frostbite and becoming delusional. After a few minutes, you finally reach the top, swearing and actually panting.  Before you can gather the energy to knock on the door, it swings open, leaving you surprised.
A tall figure stands in the doorway, the glow of lights inside outlining his broad shoulders. His features, sharp and captivating, come into focus. The eyes, a shade of violet that sparkled with mischief, locked onto yours. Is he tryna rizz me up or-
The tall figure extends a hand, his handsome face framed by windswept hair. "You look like you've just climbed a mountain. Welcome. I'm Rhysand." The sarcasm in his voice is undeniable, but you refrain from sneering. Ripping your eyes away from the High Lord, you notice two more figures emerging from behind him. One, with an easygoing grin and tousled hair, winks at you. The other, with piercing hazel eyes that observe with a quiet intensity, makes no move. They’re all very hot.
Rhysand vaguely gestures toward them, "This is Cassian, and Azriel."
Cassian, the one with the easy grin, greets you warmly, and you smile back. Azriel's gaze lingeres, still not making any moves, but stepping aside to allow you to enter. Finally out of this cold ass bit- You hear Rhysand snicker behind you, laughing at an unheard joke. Or maybe you’re the joke. It’s hard to tell.
Only seconds after crossing the threshold, a joyous commotion erupts from deep within the townhouse. Feyre, Nesta, and Elain, a hurricane of brown hair and laughter, rush towards you. Feyre, her vibrant blue-gray eyes lit with happiness, embraces you first. "You made it!" Her hug crushes you, and you swear you hear a rib snap.
Nesta, looking bored, adds, "It's been too long." But you swear you can see a hint of a smile on her lips as she hugs you alongside Feyre. And finally, Elain, looking sort of sickly but better than when she was human, joins the embrace. "I’ve missed you" she says softly, her arms wrapping around you.
The reunion unfolds with laughter and hugs, your sisters laughing and examining you, everything from your hair, to your shoes, and kind of scandalous outfit which Elain pales at.
After they finally get tired of you (you swear a singular tear escaped Nesta’s eye.) Feyre guides you into a sitting room, which is charming and cozy at the same time. Taking a seat on a couch, you find yourself flanked by Feyre and a blonde headed fae, smiling almost too widely at you.
As soon as you turn to look at her, she starts talking. Very fast. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you! Feyre has told us so much about you!"
You stammer, shocked by her swiftness “Oh, uhm I-”
Rescuing you from introduction, Elain chimes in, from the couch. "This is Mor, Rhys's cousin, and that's Amren, who's…yeah," her face strains at the mention of Amren, as she gestures to a woman sulking in a corner, who looks at you with nothing but disdain in those oddly shiny eyes. Almost.. silver? You quickly look away, trying to avoid her gaze.
As you settle into the space, the blonde, Mor, starts yammering on about some sort of dress. You listen intnetly, until your sister's mate enters the room.
Rhysand, (The most delightful, cunning, handsome High Lord, as Feyre has told you,) takes the seat across from you, his two friends joining him. Almost out of earshot, he quietly leans toward Azriel. "What's going on, Az? You're acting strange."
Azriel, the one who has not said a word to you since you’ve arrived, remains silent, his focus elsewhere. He’s actually very….attractive. Like a greek god, like you would just let him throw you across the room and-
Rhys snorts, distracting you from your train of thought. Almost like he heard what you were thinking. Oh. The blonde on your left quickly distracts you, laughing loudly, as the Cassian lad rants about the quickest way to behead someone, which is just..swell. And all the meanwhile Rhys and Feyre stare at each other giggling. Feyre opens her mouth in shock and Rhys nods, gesturing to you, engaged in silent conversation
Raising your arms up in silent defeat, you get up and walk to what seems to be a kitchen. With no food. Which is just-  You nearly jump as Azriel basically appears out of nowhere. He shoots you a seemingly uncharacteristic smile as he observes your bemused expression.
"Curious about the kitchen, aren't you?" Azriel's voice, deep and resonant, carries warmth. Very at odds at how he looked at you like you were some sort of demon  five minutes ago.
You nod, very confused with the switch up, and lack of any food, while drinking in his appearance. His hair, dark and tousled, frames a face chiseled with handsome features. Hazel eyes, deep and mysterious, hold intensity that make you never want to look away. Why he kinda…  Feyre and Rhysand start laughing again, and you feel yourself getting flustered.
"Is there something I'm missing?" You ask, gesturing to the seemingly empty kitchen.
Azriel leans against the counter, looking oddly casual. He crosses his muscular arms across his chest in a way that makes you shiver, and continues "In this house, you don't find the food. You just..think of it."
Confusion lifts from your face as Azriel just…thinks. In an instant, the kitchen responds. A tall glass of water appearing in front of him automatically, as if the room itself is eager to please.
You can't help but marvel, "That's incredible." You look at him, but to meet his eyes you have to physically tilt your head, and as he loos down at you, the height difference is obvious.
With a stretches flex of his arms, his impressive wings unfold gracefully, each membrane extending with a mesmerizing precision. As the Illyrian basically flexes, the intricate webbing catches the light, with wings that are far bigger than the ones you saw on Rhysand at the door.
From the living room, a conversation commences "What is Azriel doing?" Cassian whispers, smirking slightly. Rhysand, clueless himself, raises an eyebrow.
As you borderline gape, you catch Elain's gaze intensifying, frustration apparent in her expression. You can only wonder, why as Cassian blurts out from the other room "Well, someone's feeling extra dramatic today."
You look over to Rhysand, leaning back with a sly smile adding, "I didn't know our shadowsinger had a flair for the theatrical."
Azriel, with a casual shrug, replies, "Just felt like stretching my wings a bit."
Breaking the heavy silence that fell over the group, Mor finally breaks into laughter. "Well, well, Az. I never thought I'd see the day. What's next, a dance number?"
The group laughs, but seeing Elain’s pointed stare, you make your way back to the sitting room, leaving the Illyrian in the kitchen, unbeknownst to you, disappointed.
______________________
As the night deepens, members of the once noisy dinner party leave one by one, leaving the town home quieter than it was. With only the three Illyrians and the blonde (whose name you keep forgetting) you head towards the stairs, bidding them good night.
Your ascent to the second floor brings you to an opened door at the end of the hallway adorned with what you expect are Night Court aesthetics – moonlit tapestries, celestial motifs, and the faint scent of jasmine lingering in the air. You breathe in, and slowly sit down on your bed, trying to get the hazel eyes and mysterious shadows out of your head.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Azriel stands abruptly, and not so discreetly follows you upstairs. Cassian and Rhysand, left in the living room, exchange bemused glances
Rhysand, eyebrows raised in silent query, looks to Cassian for an explanation. Cassian, shrugging with an amused grin, whispers, "Beats me. Maybe our shadowsinger has a sudden interest in beauty rest."
Intrigued and sensing unspoken mystery, Rhysand and Cassian exchange conspiratorial glances. With shared nods, they decide to venture upstairs, their footsteps quiet as shadows against the Night Court's nocturnal melody.
Back in your room, you find comfort in the surroundings of your room. Moonlight filters through the window, casting a soft glow on the elegant furnishings. Deciding to settle in for the night, you slip into a set of…you could barely call them pajamas, more like scraps of silk, and stretch your arms, sighing faintly.
A soft knock on the door interrupts your thoughts. You secretly hope for a certain shadowsinger as you trudge towards the door. Opening it, you silently rejoice to the cauldron as Azriel stands there, his typical shadowed demeanor now softened by an unusual glint in his eyes.
"Mind if I come in?" he asks, breaking the silence.

Never will I ever, EVER understand the hold that Lucien Vanserra has on parts of this fandom.
I am not a Lucien hater. To me, he is a throwaway character that did a good job being a comic relief and first friend to Feyre in ACOTAR. And that's it.
But my god. Every day there are all these glowing, obsessive posts about him. About how he deserves everything. About how he deserves his mate. His happiness. About how Elain is a slut for even considering anyone else, let alone trying to kiss another man while Lucien is around. That Feyre is an ungrateful bitch. Rhys is a Lucien abuser. Azriel is an unhinged maniac who wants to kill Lucien. Lucien suffered the most in the entire series. Nothing compares to the horrors that Lucien lived through. Lucien is homeless. Oppressed. Depressed. He doesn't have parents. He doesn't have friends. He is abandoned. Woe is Lucien.
And I am just like...wut?
You know who suffered more than Lucien? Literally EVERYONE in ACOTAR. Not to play trauma olympics, but really? Lucien is the most unfortunate character is ACOTAR? Are people nuts?
You know whose fate is 100 times worse?
Clotho!
Gwyn Berdara!
Rhysand!
Tamlin!
Elain Acheron!
Feyre Archeon!
Every Priestess in the Library!
And many more.
Lucien is a High Fae who's lived a privileged life his whole life. Yes, he's got a mean dad. His girlfriend was murdered. He lost his eye. None of these are easy things to live through. But I don't recall him watching his entire family die violently. Has he ever struggled with poverty? Didn't have enough to eat? Was he enslaved? Was he ever violently tortured? Was he forced into an unwanted marriage? Was he turned into a human against his will? Watched thousands of his people slaughtered in a war?
Elain's history and suffering are brushed under the rug like they mean nothing, but poor Lucien, who's moved from palace, to manor, to palace wearing his cream pants and glossy boots is the epitome of suffering. Rhys was tortured by his dad more intensely and cruelly than anything that Beron's ever done to Lucien. Somehow Emerie, who is permanently mutilated, truly oppressed, is a 'lesser' Fae, violently abused by her father, and not accepted by her people, is just an afterthought, but Lucien is praised and cried over (for basically exactly the same things as Emerie is living through) like he is the most tragic character in history.
I don't know. I don't get it. I will never get it.

Day by day I’m solidified in my belief that Azriel’s & Gwyn’s book is next rather than it being Elain and Lucien’s. I just think in my opinion it makes more sense that elucien will be last. Though I could still be wrong. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I would like to to be known this is long and everything stated are MY opinions.
SJM said it’s obvious who the next book is about after the readers read acosf. Azriel was a prominent figure in acosf. Way more than Elain was and that was shocking to me. Based off how nesta & Elain’s relationship was in the earlier books.
Yes Elain did get character development a little bit in acosf but she still wasn’t a prominent figure, she was once again pushed to the background. And I get that because it was nesta’s story but we still got so much more of feysand, Azriel, emrie, Gwyn, and even eris over Elain.
In a recent interview, I think it was the one last year. A girl asked SJM about having Elain and Azriel’s book being next, I forgot the form of the question. But I just remember SJM saying that “we will get Elain in some form.” That doesn’t sound like the next MC to me. And she didn’t even mention nothing about Azriel at all. SJM is known not to say too much about her books and spoil them. The way she was answering questions in this recent interview in September, she doesn’t like to spoil anything. So for her to say you will get Elain in some form and not say you will get Elain AND Azriel in some form and she just didn’t mention Azriel at all makes me just believe that it’s Azriel that’s going to be next and they’re def not getting a book together.
Ive seen so many people say “why would SJM give Azriel a book over Elain. She wouldn’t do that.” But how would we know that? Chaol got a book in the middle of the TOG series over everyone other characters, why can’t Azriel? It’s already a proven fact that the series is not just about the Archeon sisters since SJM has 2 more books planned about a couple coming together and there’s only 1 Archeon sister left. No matter how hard people try to argue with that fact. She mentioned how Azriel’s story is something she’s excited about writing and not just about his bed habits. So why is it far fetched he will get a book next? I also like the idea of having the series start with an Archeon sister and ending with one.
Then the bonus chapters. Azriel got one. He’s also a part of a second one for hofas. I saw an argument that well Cassian got a bonus chapter for acomaf and he didn’t get a book until acosf (or part of one). I think SJM did it like that because she wasn’t done with feysand’s story. It wouldn’t make sense to give Cassian/nesta a book when she wasn’t done writing feysand’s story in my opinion. Plus the first 3 books with Feyre pov was already planned before having a sisters book spin off.
I also think acofas was a perfect book to connect the series to Cassian’s pov & nesta’s pov to get the readers away from feysand’s pov. And her bonus chapter for Azriel is also a good example of that too. She wouldn’t put so much emphasis on Azriel’s bonus chapter for no reason in her interviews. Now that feysand’s & nessians story has been told, it makes more sense to have the next mc have a bonus chapter so we can get inside of the next MC’s head like we did with Cassian & nesta.
And I do get the fact that there are so many plot points that are unresolved in acowar, especially with koschei, but to me koschei is a last book level threat like how Maeve and erawan were in TOG. The two caused problems throughout the series but they weren’t defeated until the very last book of the series. That’s a pattern of SJM. In acowar (feysand’s last full novel) hybern was defeated. I already mentioned TOG. In Crescent city 3, I think she’ll have Bryce and Hunt defeat the asteri and hofas is the last book for Bryce & hunt’s story. To me that makes sense plot wise. Elain and Lucien are the only ones connected to koschei from the main characters that’s left.
Plus koschei was using braillyn to do his dirty work for him because he can’t leave his lake. I’m pretty sure he has tricks up his sleeve because I secretly think he and Merrill are working together since he whispers on the wind and she can listen to whispers on the wind (and that connects her to Gwyn. Especially since Merrill is suppose to be clotho’s right hand & Clotho appeared at the end of Azriel bonus chapter) But koschei’s back to square 1. I don’t think he poses a great risk at the moment. He needs to regroup and do another plan.
I know everybody wants the spring court to be back up and running and it needs to be back up and running before the next major war happens. SJM has brought it up too much for it not to happen and for it not to be important. But to me spring isn’t really the pressing matter, the autumn court is because of Beron trying to align with koschei like an idiot.
After the night court, the autumn court was the second most talked about court in acosf, then spring was the third. I understand that we have plots from acowar but we also can’t forget to acknowledge the plots that happen in acosf. We also got to see more of eris. I know Lucien has ties to the autumn court but he literally doesn’t fuck with anyone in the autumn court besides his mom and I don’t think he even sees her at all. Lucien calls eris a snake so Lucien isn’t on good terms with them so I really don’t connect him to autumn as much.
And until Beron is out the door, which I’m hoping that happens next book and we get eris as high lord, the autumn court is not going to be in good hands. And I really think Gwyn has autumn court ties to explore 👀. I’m a firm believer she has no spring court ties what so ever and she’s just connected to autumn.
And SJM tends to have her characters hit rock bottom in the acotar series or like them having an emotional conflict. When nesta had her book, since she was the prominent figure in acosf, it’s obvious that she hit rock bottom before acosf came out. She isolated herself. She drunk all the time and slept with men to keep her powers at bay. I don’t think we’ve really seen Elain hit rock bottom yet or have a prominent emotional conflict. Like it’s obvious Elain is suffering in silence just like her sister were, Im 100% certain Elain isn’t 100% happy, but to me shes a lot more chipper than her sisters were at the start of her journey from what we’ve seen.
At the end of acowar she was like happy and was like the world is going to need more gardens and she was looking bright for the future, and I didn’t expect that since what all happen in acowar. She’s snapping back at her sisters in acosf. Trying to advocate for herself as well. With Feyre we see in the beginning of acomaf she was depressed, not eating well, not really regulating her emotions well. We see how nesta was, I know Elain already went through that phase in acowar. But I’m just not 100% convinced that Elain is ready for her own journey just yet.
Now we see with Azriel, he’s just all over the place. To me he’s definitely having emotional conflict when it comes to the mating bond. Trying to ignore the whole thing about Mor knowing that needs to be addressed. Questioning if the cauldron got it wrong. The whole thing with Elain. Him wanting a mating bond. To me Azriel has hit rock bottom emotionally as well. A little different from both nesta and Feyre but to me all the same. Especially seeing now how his bothers has a known mating bond besides him. Romantically, since acotar is more romantically driven than plot driven it makes sense for him to be next. Especially with the plot with the Illyrians, which I think has been a long time coming as well.
Then just imagine Elain seeing that? Everybody else with their mating bonds & happy. How would that make her feel, I think it would make her hit rock botton and have that emotional conflict especially with the whole choice thing and her being stubborn, but we still don’t know because we haven’t gotten her pov but guess whose pov we do have and know who’s struggling? Azriel.
And no I don’t get the argument that Elain hasn’t gotten a bonus chapter because her visions will spoil it. Doesn’t make sense to me because SJM can write it without Elain having visions in the middle of it but still get her insight. Elain also said she needed time to ge reacquainted with her powers in acosf, so it’s not 100% certain she’s still getting visions anyway. No one can confirm or deny because we haven’t seen Elain really and no one has been around her enough to notice since everyone’s focus was on feysand & nessian.
I personally don’t think there’s a valid excuse as to why SJM didn’t give Elain a bonus chapter over Azriel. If people would question why would SJM give Azriel a book over Elain we need to question why she gave him a bonus chapter over Elain.

May I please request an Azris fic where Azriel and Eris get into a massive fight and they both separate just to find each other in the place where they used to go to all the time for little dates. Then they realise they can't live without each other.
Of course! I may have added a bit of some other things like Tamlin & Eris friendship! Requests are open if you have anymore! 🤍

Brusque Brute
It was all too much, the way Azriel continues to indulge Elain when he promised he strictly loved Eris, it made the High Lord of the Autumn Court more sad that angry. Not only this, but, he knew Lucien wanted to get closer to his mate, even if he did respect her boundaries the bond he shared with the youngest Archeon sister was strong, teasing, indulging.
“You said you would stop.” Eris says plainly, as if he was use to having this conversation.
“She flirts with me, I don’t want to be rude to her, Eris.” The Shadowsinger replies carelessly. “It’s not hurting anyone.” He adds with a small shrug.
Eris takes a deep breath. “You don’t think that you flirting with someone else other than me doesn’t affect me, Azriel?”
“Why should it? I’m only doing it to keep her happy.” The spymaster of the Night Court explains.
“It makes me sad!” Eris finally snaps. “You think it’s pleasant for me to watch my mate indulge someone?” A small glare begins to form on the freckled, pale skin of the Autumn Fae.
“That’s ridiculous, there is no reason it should make you sad.” Azriel stands from the red couch of which he was seated on, making his way over to his mate. “She is just… lonely, Elain finds comfort in me.”
“Well she needs to find it with someone else.” Eris says, crossing his arms and squeezing his biceps.
“Why?”
Eris wants to laugh, scream, say something to make the brute understand why he is so uncomfortable with this, yes, he knew Azriel didn’t have many experiences with relationships, but, he was the most intelligent man in the Night Court. Why was discomfort such a foreign concept?
“Because I don’t like how close she is with you, Azriel.” Eris explains again.
“Whatever.” He scoffs, his shadows move around his wings, tightening around the Illyrian like an act of discipline before releasing. Azriel glares at them and shoos them away.
The dark clouds make a movement as if to glare back before they move over to the High Lord, swarming his ankles, wrists, waist, neck, anything.
“Don’t just say ‘whatever’, Azriel. I am trying to have a serious conversation with you!” The Autumn Fae sighs.
Azriel directs his hardened face towards his lover. “No, this talk is stupid! She is just a friend to me!”
“I know! But, that doesn’t mean I want you to disregard my insecurities!” Eris argues back. “I am uncomfortable with you being so touchy, I get comforting her but you are flirting!” The ginger frowns.
Azriel doesn’t seem to understand.
“Playfully, it means nothing.” Azriel rolls his eyes, crossing his own arms.
“How would you feel if I flirted with Nesta? Maybe even your brother, Cassian?” Eris retorts.
“Oh please, you hate Cass.” The Shadowsinger states, his scarred hand connects with Eris jaw, cupping it and forcing him to look up at him. “You wouldn’t dare flirt with Nesta.”
Eris glares. “Watch me.”
The spymaster of the Night Court returns the same look, harder. “You won’t.” He snaps.
“You flirt with Elain, why can’t I indulge Nesta?”
“You will not ‘indulge’ anyone other than me!” Azriel snaps, he tugs on the bond. Eris looks a bit startled from the outburst. “Do you understand?” He snaps, siphons burning a vibrant blue, illuminating the room of the Autumn place they were currently in.
“Now you’re being controlling?” The High Lord snaps, smacking away the spymasters hand cupping his face.
“I am not!” Azriel shouts, Eris flinches from the loud sound, he remembers how his father use to scream at him, his brothers. “You’re so sensitive over this topic! I am not going to leave you, Eris.”
He can’t help to feel tears brim in his eyes, but no, these were not happy tears. “Sensitive?” Eris’ voice betrays him, cracking. “Why are you being so defensive, Az?” He asks slowly, not wanting his mate to shout again.
But, of course, he does. “Because I don’t fucking love her!” He snaps, his siphons emit an electric flow, zapping the area.
Eris can’t help but feel a bit afraid, he steps back. Azriel seemed to be so overtaken by anger he was completely ignoring his lovers fear.
“You sure seem like it.” The High Lord finally manages to retort.
“I,” The scarred hand grasps the collar of the Autumn Fae’s collar. “Do not,” Azriel’s eyes meet Eris’ own tear filled one, a burning rage behind the brown-hazel orbs. “Love her.”
“Don’t touch me.” Eris whispers, a tear slipping down his cheek, dropping onto the spymasters hand before dripping to the wooden floor.
Azriel halts, he instantly lets go of his mate. “Eris-“
“No.” He replies quickly, taking a deep breath in attempt to calm himself, but it wasn’t useful. The intake of air began to speed up, waves of memories flood back, the way his father shouted, hit, abused… everything.
“Princess, please, I didn’t mean too…” Azriel begins but Eris was already slowly backing away, clutching his chest.
“Shut up!” Eris snaps before fire swarms around him, crackling before he vanishes, winnowing.
“Eris.” Azriel speaks again but it was too late, his mate has left.
When Eris finally reaches his destination he falls to his knees, he couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. They streamed down his face like a waterfall, no matter how many times he attempted to wipe them away they wouldn’t stop.
His breath hitched again, his crying shifting to sobs. Eris didn’t remember the last time he cried, he never was allowed considering the strictness of the old Autumn Court, of his father.
No, he didn’t wish that something as simple as a person raising their voice reminded him of Beron, but, then again, he didn’t wish anything reminded him of his father.
However, he couldn’t escape it. When he looked at himself in the mirror he saw only him, the way his features resembled his father much more than Serafina—his mother. How he wished it was the other way, then, his mother would be comfortable seeing him.
The High Lord of the Autumn Court hated most things in his life, his mate reminding him of his past was one, over looking his insecurities was another.
“Eris?” A voice calls out, but, this was different than the harsh, Illyrian one he heard before.
The Autumn Fae raises his head, looking at the starlight pool before him then turning to see who called his name.
Tamlin.
“What’s wrong?” The blond High Lord approaches slowly before sitting down beside Eris. “You’re crying.”
“No shit.” Eris clears his throat, but, his voice still sounded broken, wet, sad.
“Not the time.” Tamlin sighs. “What’s wrong?” He repeats.
“I am… thinking.”
“Of?” The High Lord of the Spring Court cocks his head to the side, raising one of his eyebrows.
“Azriel and I had a fight… over Elain.” Eris admits quietly, the shadows still around the Autumn Fae comfortingly.
“And he’s not listening to you?” He motions to the shadows.
“They have minds of their own, all of them are here…” The ginger says slowly before Tamlin scoots closer, opening his arms.
Eris instantly sinks into the embrace from his friend, he didn’t care how Azriel would feel about seeing him hug his High Lord and Ladies enemy, Tamlin has been his friend before Feyre even existed.
“So, again, what is wrong, Eris?” Tamlin repeats for the third time, gently stroking the High Lord of the Autumn Court’s hair, massaging his scalp.
“I already said-“
“Specifically.” He adds.
Eris nods, clearing his throat once more. “I expressed my discomfort with him flirting back with Elain when my brother is trying to win over her… he disregarded my emotions for the situation and said I was being sensitive.” The Autumn Fae notices Tamlin’s face grow annoyed at the mention of Elain.
“I dislike her.” He begins. “Azriel is being a sick.”
Eris chuckles at that, releasing Tamlin from the hug before he wipes his tears again. “Yes, he is.” He pauses before continuing. “You… you love him,” Tamlin raises his eyebrow. “My brother.” Eris clarifies.
The High Lord of the Spring Court pauses before he sighs and nods. “Yes. During Calanmai… it was t Feyre who I truly searched for, no, I was looking for Lucien… when I saw her, the urge made me bite her.” Tamlin begins to explain, a hint of water glistening in his own eyes. “I have loved him since before Amarantha, the only reason the whole curse ever happened was because I wanted to see him… happy.”
Eris nods, gently grabbing his friend’s hand.
The other High Lord continues. “And now… he is mated, and enamored with her.” He bites out.
“My mate seems to love her too, if it makes you feel better.” Eris jokes dryly, frowning.
“I do not.” A dark voice states, Azriel soon appearing across the pool of starlight.
Tamlin sends a small glance Eris’ way before disappearing, thanking him for listening before vanishing in a puff of flowers.
“Azriel.” Eris greets, the tears fighting to come back.
“Eris.” Azriel walks over, sitting in the spot Tamlin was in before.
“What do you want?” The High Lord brings his knees to his chest, wrapping his arms before resting his cheek on his forearms, looking at the spymaster of the Night Court.
“I want to apologize.” Azriel begins, guilt covering his features. Eris nods, motioning for him to go on. “I… I love you, Eris. More than anything, I could not live without you, princess.” His hand gently caresses Eris’ bicep. “I am so sorry I overlooked what you meant.”
Eris slowly moves his legs down, his hands connecting with Azriel’s own, holding both firmly. “I just wanted you to understand-“
“No, I was wrong. I know what… I know what I reminded you of.” Azriel tugs him closer, holding Eris firmly, hugging his mate. “I’m sorry, I never wished to remind you of that… thing.” He mentions Beron with disgust. “I won’t ever flirt with Elain again, I will keep it strictly friendly.” He presses a kiss to his lovers temple. “I’m sorry.” The Shadowsinger repeats.
“Az…” Eris hug Azriel tightly, the dark haired male falls to his back, wings splayed out on the dirt as Eris is on his chest. “It’s alright.”
“It’s not, I will prove anything to make it up.” Azriel states firmly, Eris only chuckles and cups his lovers cheeks, pressing a gently yet firm kiss to the spymaster.
“It is, I promise.” The High Lord of the Autumn Court smiles, his tears finally drying.
“I meant what I said… earlier.” Azriel buries his head into the crook of the Autumn Fae’s neck. “I will never leave you, princess.”
“And I, you.” The shadows swarm around the two, holding them together. “How did you know where to find me?”
“Well, the starlight pool here is our date spot, Eris.” Azriel teases, Eris’ cheeks flush a light red. “Plus, that male is still your friend.” He groans.
“Tamlin has a name, Az!”
“A dumb one.” His wings move around Eris, shielding him away from anything and everyone but him.
Eris laughs. “Thank you… Az, for apologizing.”
“I always will, I was wrong.” Azriel brings his scarred hand back to his mates cheek again. “Always.”
“Always.” Eris says back.
The pair stays there in silence, staring at each other and the starlight pool before them before Eris strips off his clothes, making his way into the water. Azriel follows in, kissing his lover again as they bathe in the stars.

*** ACOTAR 5 THEORIES ***
So.. We all know of the three ancient siblings: the twins, the Bone Carver, the Weaver of the Wood, and the oldest, Koschei. Each of the, were “contained”/trapped by an ancient fae female (can’t remember who, please let me know if you do). Bone Carver was locked in the prison, the weaver had her powers diminished and she was stuck in the woods in the Middle. Then Koschei was trapped in the lake, he is also the suspected “big bad” of this upcoming half of the ACOTAR series.
There’s a lot of balance of threes in this series. The three objects Made by the Cauldron; the Mask, Crown and Harp. Then there’s the three Archeon sisters, Nesta, Elain and Feyre. In a way, each of the girls can be matched with one of the ancient siblings, and maybe even the Made objects, as each of these girls are also Made.
Feyre could be Koschei, the strongest of the siblings, trapped by the fae as she was in the very beginning of the series. Feyre was trapped by her life in many ways, but in a way essential to her transition into who she is today, she was trapped in the house by Tamlin, trapped Under the Mountain by Amaranthe, etc. Feyre is the crown, for very obvious reasons, like her being High Lady, but also her being the head of her household. She may be the youngest, but Feyre has been the head of her household since she was 11 and she had to save her family from starvation.
Nesta could be the Weaver, the one who literally devours the people who get close to her, which was part of Nesta internal struggle. The one who had a great portion of her power taken from her— the Weaver from the ancient fae, and Nesta’s was given back to the Cauldron— and stuck somewhere she didn’t choose. She is the mask. She’s put up more of a front to hide her feelings than either of her siblings.
And Elaine, the Bone Carver, who is the Seer— like Elaine— who is not as noticed or out in the world as their siblings are. The one who seems hidden, quiet. But the one who always knows more than what other people think they know. She is the harp. The otherwise beautiful instrument, the most beautiful of the sisters. Even her personality is softer, more appealing to others than anyone else, and yet, she is capable of incredible things. People underestimate the instrument of the harp.
Now, both the twins are “dead” thanks to the war in which Rhys and Feyre made bargains for their assistance against the King of Hybern. They were taken out by the Cauldron (if my memory serves). HOWEVER, Koschei, the oldest, is said to be deathless, but considering he and his siblings were here before the invention of the Cauldron, it’s possible they are susceptible to this new power, as the twins were. I wonder if, with all the objects of death could be wielded by one of each of the sisters, could they in a way combine their power with the power from the cauldron to kill Koschei. Especially considering the idea that the Made objects of the Cauldron are objects of death basically.
Secondary, theory that can either be separate from the first or part of it, but it was said that the three ancient being came from another world a long time ago, potentially a world much like Bryce’s. What if Bryce inadvertently brings with her some vital piece of information or something that ends up being of use to the Court of Dreams when Koschei comes along.

“ Because of the shit with Elain?”
Azriel stilled. “What happened to Elain?”
~ a court of silver flames.
Note the wording. When Cassian is talking with Azriel look at Azriels first response to hearing about the fight between Elaine and Nesta. It’s not what happened with Elain that gets his attention. No it’s what happened to Elain? He doesn’t care what the situation was no his first thought was something happened to her. Was she ok?

I just say another anon about the reader in your eris story being an archeon sister and i was just wondering what the relevance was? does she have to be one of the sisters? could you not just change it?
The reader in These Violent Delights doesn't have to be one of the sisters but in my mind when I was living vicariously through my maladaptive days dreams of this story she was one of the sisters and so I wrote it that way not really thinking that it might not be inclusive for everyone.
I used the motif of water a lot with that reader to describe her power and her anger which is an important part of her character is that she is deeply angry with the world but also wants to belong with someone so she bends to the will of others, gives parts of herself to help the people she cares about. I thought water was a nice compliment to Eris' fire and additionally she completes the Archeron sisters; Feyre is air, Elain is earth, Nesta is fire and the reader is obviously water.
If it's something people want me to change I could and would, quite happily too, but it just happened to be that originally I wrote her as one of the sisters but by no means I am trying to exclude another at all but I understand why readers might feel let down by the fact that she is related to feyre, elain and nesta in the story.
Hope this helps, anon :)

Archeon dynamic and the culture of the Humans
This is just a continuation of this post. Just some ideas I had to tweak the acotar world, at least on the human side of things.
So in canon the humans are matriarchal, they have queens. But this lil detail literally does nothing for canon, the only thing that is relevant to this detail is the queens who basically just show up, disagree, betray their kind, and are never really shown again (in any meaningful way iirc, it's been a hot minute since I read). Not to mention everything else is extremly patriarchal. First, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in the real world a matriarchal society would be more socialist. So that means a Kingdom Queendom is iffy. But this is fantasy and i reserve the right to have badass queens decked out in heavy armor roaring commands at their bloodthirsty warriors.
So instead a way this matriarchal culture can be emphasized is to first change the Archeon dynamic.
This means that mama Archeon would have been the bread winner and her husband could be some eccentric trophy husband who likes to build things (inventor if you will) and woodwork. A man who occasionally invites other fellow carpenters over to build and talk. And when he's not doing that he's talking to other wealthy men and trying to introduce their handsome sons to his very talented daughters. Nesta is still the apple of mama Archeon's eye, but instead of trying to catch a husband, she's being raised to inherent and manage the ridiculous wealth and estate of the Archeon family. Elain is a woman who is very popular and basically the socialite of the family, she sets up community gardens and was working to get a degree to show the youth how important the natural world is. Feyre was a professional child athlete, mostly in archery (surprise). As she got older she dabbled in a bit of competitive shooting with guns and had the hobby of painting, something she really enjoyed. All three daughters are very educated and older, so no illiterate baby Feyre venturing into the freezing cold (plus Feyre was/is a badass markswoman pro).
The Archeons are still a family that owns a very successful company that sells general supplies to woodsmen, only to fall on hard times when Mama Archeon makes a mistake and ends up going bankrupt. Alas, it was their lavish lifestyle that damned them, hate to see it. Anyway, Mama Archeon still gets sick after they lose the majority of their fortune leading them to lose the rest trying to treat her. They all still end up in a small, cramped house with three rooms total. Mama Archeon dies, but not before telling her children to look after eachother and to take care of their father. So now they are broke and trying to survive.
Nesta is the Head of the House being the eldest daughter. She still has connections though, so for now she works for her dear friend Clare Beddor. Elain works in a plant nursery and is a private tutor, she also still has friends and connections that don't evaporate into the aether after she and her family have fallen from grace. Feyre enters competitions to earn some money and teaches marksmanship to people who are willing to pay. The only time she hunts to survive is in the winter when times get tough. Their dad takes care of the house and occasionally takes commissions to build gizmos or fashion wood carvings for people. All of them are trying to save up to buy a new home that's a bit larger than what they are stuck in right now, no one is a slouch.
Okay, that's the Archeon situation. Now for the real stuff, which is human culture.
The humans in this au are very martial. War is almost all they know from centuries full of it.They place great importance on their warriors. Everyone is expected to know how to fight in some capacity, they should also know some of the basics of science since I think they'd be really reliant/proud of it.
Humans aren't stupid (in this instance), so I think they'd know why they have such an edge on the fairies. This would lead to them venerating iron, steel, science, and blood. And this brings up something that's really interesting, in my opinion at least. And that's culture, it shifts and changes as societies age, it's kind of it's own organism. So with that thought process, I figured that as the centuries churned past and the war dragged on, the humans changed from an enlightened race that was trying to protect their world from these aliens into these grim soldiers who almost always assume that war will always be there, waiting. They changed from a society that was focused on technology, the advancement of their race, and prosperity into one that is focused on churning out the next great general. The next innovator that'll make something to put those filthy abominations down when one crosses the wall, or when the war resumes in earnest. Since, to them, the war never really stopped, did it? They'd be surrounded by reminders in the form of their fortresses and war machines.
So how does one reflect that attitude in a society? The first idea that comes to mind is religion. They'd have churches built to the things they live with constantly, they'd have gods for these sorts of things. So there would be a god of blood, science, innovation, and war. All of these concepts have a great role in their lives which would lead to these gods being the four "major" ones, with the old ones being "forgotten" and "dead." An idea I had for this was, since they were a society that wanted prosperity for themselves in ages long past, they could see the gods of these venerated concepts as dead because the fairies killed them. These deities stopped having such a role in the publics' lives that they just kind of fell to the way side, there but gone. The priests and politicians would use the idea of these much beloved gods being dead as a way to stir the pot and rouse anger.
-The god of blood could have massive churches where they occasionally sacrifice an animal on this god's holy day or smthin. I'm just thinking of the massive cathedral in blood borne when I think of this. Basically blood is a big deal, it's the gift from the gods to protect the creatures and people of the old world from the fairy incursion. And no red blood should be spilt without a good reason. Good reasons include melting fairies and/or venerating this god via sacrifice (kinda brutal).
-The god of science could basically be the one who lobbies against magic. They teach people to learn as much as they can about the natural world, and anything magical is an insult to this god.
-The god of innovation would probably be the one to encourage experiments. If the god of science is a teacher, this one is the one applying those teachings. Think of their priests as that one chemistry teacher who seemed a little too excited to set something on fire. Unhinged scientist.
-And then the god of war. This one would mostly be associated with iron and steel, I think. Protect each other and the world. The battle priests' motto is "All's fair in war." And they take that literally, biting, scratching, kicking, it's all fair game to them. In war, I feel I should stress that.
Another way to express that attitude is to make hunters a thing. Hunters being humans who go out to cull any fairies that cross the wall. These people would be very respected, and recognized by the government as an official group/organization. They would probably venerate the god of blood and maybe an old god of the hunt.
The matriarchal angle could also be further emphasized by giving the slice of human territory that is on the island a baroness. The queens aren't going to bother with a tiny territory, they'd give it to someone else let's be fr. The territory could actually be called something. Idk what. The Halting Steps Barony since that was where Jurian made his final stand and the war halted? If someone has an idea for it pls tell me.
I'm half asleep rn so this might be edited later, just wanna post this real quick

Rancor and Risotto Dinner Outfits: The Women
Since we’re finally seeing everyone in chapter 3 and chapter 4 of my fic Rancor and Risotto, I thought I’d show y’all my Dinner outfit inspo for everyone!! Of course nothing will be as perfect as it is in my head but I will still try to show you the vision. Idk I thought it might be fun. Also I will make a separate post for the males here and here so look at that if you are interested!
Nesta
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want Nesta in a dress like this except for more Navy and she will have suitable jewelry to make it more formal. Nesta will look wonderful alright.
Morrigan
Tumblr media
(Not my art, all credits to artist- found this on Google images) but yes this is literally the exact dress in my head for our resident fashion goddess Mor. (Keep in mind Eris may be bitter about it but she looks amazing)
Feyre
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You cannot tell me this silhouette does not scream Feyre Archeon. And the fact that her breasts are easy access is even better lol. For Rhys I guess....
Amren
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know we usually only see Amren in the typical Night Court style harem pants and the top that goes to her midriff, but I think she’d love the opportunity to show off some of her hoard hehe. Also slip dresses look good on petite girls and especially girls with a small bust so I think Amren would like it idk.
Elain
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually had a hard time coming up with Elain's outfit in my head, mostly because of this beautiful fan art that kinda was ruining my vision of her. But I think she would wear this in a color that compliment's Lucien's suit. Maybe more pale pink or a dusty yellow? Idk but her outfit is most definitely corresponding to Lucien’s. She doesn't really care about the Night Court colors or her technical residency there IMO
