Murph: Sweet, then, let's go ahead and cut back to Henry. Henry-- Emily (Fia voice): I knew you would do this! You are a sick fuck! Jake (Henry voice): You’re a bad man. Emily (Fia voice): Fia Boginya thinks Brian Murphy is a sick fuck! Murph: (laughing) I am a sick fuck.

I feel like eldermorne as a whole just gets that much better, when you keep in mind that murph grew up in a devout catholic household.
Like mans was afraid to worship the fucking dice devil at the beginning of this fucking podcast. He REEKS of unprocessed catholic guilt. The entire concept of eldermorne as a whole is so parallel to the world at large that we live in, and basically the deconstruction of faith
Like i cannot imagine how cathartic the entire last chunk of the campaign must have felt to him, or even if any of this was intentional (i have a feeling it’s a mix of both) but even as someone who wasn’t really raised catholic, (but had parents who used to be catholic), re listening to eldermorne the second time is like healing some of the religious trauma I never even realized I had.
Anyways, I think all of this is hilarious in a fucked up way, while simultaneously being so sad and like deep.

if you wanna listen to naddpod you should know this about the hosts: brian murphy is a straightman to his inner most core and he's the funniest person alive, these things exist simultaneously and would not exist without the other. emily axford is clinically insane to a point where it's easier to not try to follow her logic when she says things. jake hurwitz is a certified cool guy but he's the biggest loser in a room of nerds playing dungeons and dragons. caldwell tanner can only be described as exactly what a 1930's cartoon describes as a rascal. three of them are a throuple and the fourth is their boss.

On the spectrum of rewarding a nat 20 there's Brennan "lets a donkey break free from a seemingly improvised curse and turn into a handsome prince because a cricket shot a rocket at him" Lee Mulligan and on the other end there's Brian "you come to the reality that the jean jacket that you wore to impress your girlfriend 20 years ago was super lame" Murphy

Emily Axford’s PCs Ranked by How Likely They Are To Have Worn Crocs:
There was discussion on a recent short rest about which of Emily’s PCs are most likely to wear crocs, so I humbly present my findings:
1. Brenda Elizabeth: 100% canonical that she wears crocs. She is even wearing crocs in her canon artwork. God bless you Zac Oyama.
2. Tarragon Snakeroot: Also 100% canonical that she wears crocs, but the DM is being a little punk about it. Regardless of whether or not Murph thinks crocs exist in Eldermourne, if Emily says she’s wearing crocs, she’s wearing crocs.
3. Sophia Lee: A human living on present day earth. I’m certain she’s worn crocs around her place on Staten Island.
4. Chirp Featherfowl: Lives in the Feywild, but has a wife and child on present day earth. Has definitely tried on her wife’s crocs. Loves the novelty of them.
5. Ylfa Snorgelsson: Same voice as Brenda Elizabeth, so she’s already croc-coded. Plus, due to multiversal shenanigans, it’s almost guaranteed that there exists a version of her who’s worn crocs.
6. Onyx Lumiere: I don’t remember if crocs have been confirmed as canon in Trinyvale, but they definitely are. If Onyx didn’t already own a pair of pastel crocs, she’s surely looted a pair from someone she’s killed.
7. Fia Boginya: Crocs are not necessarily her style, but she lives in Eldermourne, so she’s had ample opportunity to wear them.
8. Brimstone Billy: Also, lives in Eldermourne, but I’m not sure if crocs have made their way to Endoterra yet.
9. Sundry Sidney: Technically exists in our future, but crocs are probably ancient relics in her time. Even if she could get her hands on a pair, she wouldn’t be able to get them on over her permanent roller skates.
10. Fig Faeth: I’m gonna say that crocs probably exist in Solace, but Fig was too preppy to wear them as a kid and is too punk to wear them now.
11. Moonshine Cybin: I’ll throw Murph a bone and say that crocs don’t exist in Bahumia, but if they did, I bet Moonshine would wear them. If a crick elf was gonna wear shoes, they’d probably wear crocs.
12. Calliope Petrichor: Again, no crocs in Bahumia, but even extra no crocs in the Feywild. Furthermore, they aren’t really the shoes of choice for either crime families or knights. No crocs for Calli.
13. Saccharina Frostwhip: Calorum is the setting least likely to contain crocs. It’s such a classic medieval fantasy world. That said, growing up poorer than the other PCs makes Saccharina the most likely A Crown of Candy character to have worn crocs.
14. Jet Rocks: By far the least likely Axford character to have worn crocs. Spent her short life growing up royal in a lavish castle with dreams of becoming a military commander in a world where crocs absolutely do not exist in the first place. Case closed.

[ID: a drawing of Zirk Vervain from NADDPOD in profile, visible from the chest up. He looks in front of him with a neutral expression and holds a glass flask of colourful liquid in each hand. Zirk is a young humanoid man with dark brown skin, droopy elf ears, and blonde hair with rainbow dipdyed ends. He has messy, curly bangs and a pair of round glasses, and wears a white shirt with puffed sleeves, thick black protective gloves, and a black apron. Behind him, the wall is covered in pipes, glass vials, and other alchemical equipment. Decorative writing on the wall reads "Vervain's Potions & Salves / Thornkirk". end ID] (id via transguyhawkeye)

so the dice tell a story, right? henry doesn't crit for the first 6 episodes of eldermourne. he rolls 5 nat 1s, but doesn't crit. jake's first nat 20 of eldermourne is for shank in episode 6
the first nat 20 for henry, though? well, it's his first roll of the fight at the scales. y'know. right after shank says "now's about the time we usually skip town" and henry says "yeah, but let's see what happens if we stick around for a little bit"
henry makes up his mind. truly makes up his mind to stand and fight. and immediately crits for the first time.

In honor of Hot Murph Week, a holiday I made up and doesn’t exist, here’s my list of top-tier Hot Murph Momes.* There is no ranking here and I’m going off memory, so this may be adjusted or edited and you can add your own.
Anytime Glen spoke, during the Hot Glen era (RIP** Hot Glen), but especially when taunting Callie while in his cell.
When Jaina got legendary actions to give allies attacks, when she was sweating but effortless during the Ultrus fight, “Hardwon! Catch!”
“Are you a prisoner or a jailer?” (Jaina is so hot and I am not sorry for thinking this)
Riz threatening Biz in the aftermath of Arcade Ambush.
Riz deciding to Misty Step to the top of Kalvaxus and sink the Sword of Shadows into his head.
Theo casting knock to remove himself from the cell during Calroy’s coup.
Theo using Swirlwarden to survive Deep Bleu Sea.
Alanis counterspelling Akarot’s PWK to save Bev at Moonshine’s request.
The Would Be King spitting “Another failed experiment” at Corbeau during the side flap assassination. That whole thing has an energy because it’s completely improvised mechanics. And the misdirect of them thinking he was dead as he was dragged back into the tent…? Okay.
The whole of Battle of the Brands, but especially the athletics check where he took his time and then went “that’s only a 28” after taking off his sunglasses.
Barry scooping Gunnie and then jumping over the side and taking all the falling damage after escaping the casino. Also? If I’m being honest? The whole casino scene.
The moment in the Sophomore Year finale where Riz shoots someone and tries to fling them off the stairs and then Misty Steps back onto the stairs, emulating Moonshine Cybin. I don’t remember if it works or who it is, but hot.
Mac’s insane first hasted turn in Carl.
I don’t remember stuff from either TUC or NA well enough at the moment so those are unfortunately omitted.
*in a recent (from 2023) short rest (or episode, I don’t remember) Caldwell Tanner shortened the word “moments” to “momes”. Because of who I am as a person, I have also chosen to do this.
**the p is for piss. Glen fully sucks and no one who misinterprets what it means to be a crick has my respect. He was hot, though.

You guys. Emily Axford is just so multi talented and so human.
Like look at all her dnd characters and the incredible arcs they go through. The real, raw emotion she portrays with each one. The complete understanding of who her character is and the roll they play in that world. The relationships her character has and how each one is deep and unique.
Her music always tells a story. Each song feels “unfinished”, but that’s because musically most of them are missing that final “conclusion” chord? It leaves you with the feeling that there’s more. There’s more coming, there’s more life, there’s more than just that song, that moment. There’s always more…
She studied religion?? She went to school to learn what makes the world tick. How religion is the foundational pillar to so many societies and explains how communities function and treat others. People often define themselves by their religious beliefs, and she took the time to study it in depth. To understand people.
Honestly what a fucking incredible human being. Everything she does feels real and genuine and so raw and connected. I think that’s why I admire her and her work so much. Her heart is bared in everything she does, and she shows that she’s just so human. I don’t know how else to describe it
