Tumblr is eating my asks so i will post this here-
Its a dream i had a day or two ago about Quackity, Wilbur and Tommy- and it gets fucked at the end sooo.. (Warning for: violence, some slight details of gore, injury and death)
A fight between Wilbur and Quackity had broke out moments ago when wilbur had come to apoligize; Tommy was at the side lines yelling for them to stop with no avail. Wilbur and Quackity were trading sword blows, arrows and accusatory yelling about the others actions that led to disaster, Wilbur, now bleeding from the corner of his mouth from a particularly nasty punch to the face that started this whole fight, yelled "ITS NOT MY FAULT THAT YOU SEEM TO THINK MY SYMPHONY WAS GOING TO BE PERFECT UNTIL YOU CAME AND HIJACKED IT!" Quackity and Tommy stop to look at wilbur as he continued, "WE WERE GOING TO ELECT OURSELFS TO KEEP OUR NATION SAFE BUT YOU CAME IN AND FORCED YOUR IDEALS ONTO PEOPLE WHO WERE TAKING REFUGE FROM TYRANTS JUST LIKE YOU, QUACKITY. THEN YOU TEAMED UP WITH SCHLATT AND IT ALL WENT TO SHIT FOR ME AND TOM BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T HANDLE THE FACT THAT I WAS DOING SOMETHING BETTER THAN YOU EVER COULD! THIS DESERT WE STAND IN? ITS A FUCKING FAKE! A MERE COPY OF SOMETHING THAT WAS GREAT! AND YOU RUB IT IN THE FACES OF THOSE WHO REMEMBER THE ACTUAL SYMPHONY THAT I MADE, QUCKITY! YOU. ARE. A. FRAUD." Wilbur finishes his yelling while breathing heavily and holding his sword with shaking hands, the world seemingly stopped as the silence of the battlefield stretched on seemingly forever. Quackity was glaring at the revived man with even more hatred than he ever did before as he tried to think of a way to retaliate against the words; But he didn't think of his own words to hurt Wilbur. He thought of actions, actions that would hurt even more than words, because Quackity knew that Wilbur had basically nothing to lose since he had already lost his people and nation so long ago.. But one of the people had stayed with him. The co-president was always following Wilbur wherever he could, like a duckling to its mother. Quackity knew that wilbur, deep down viewed tommy as a family member; now it was too late. Quackity had his half baked idea set in stone, he didn't care if he was angry, he didn't care to think it over, he no longer cared about anything else other than getting back at Wilbur in the most painful way possible. Quackity quickly shot wilbur in the leg, the man responding with a yell and falling to his knee; Tommy watched and tried to go towards Wilbur in concern but was stopped by Quackity throwing a pearl in his direction. Quackity appeared infront of Tommy, smashing a potion of damage into his stomach, knocking him to the ground while yelling a profanity that got wilbur's attention. Wilbur looked over to Quackity looming over Tommy, who was holding his stomach that was bleeding from shards of glass in his skin. Tommy looked up at Quackity who was clearly blinded by rage in this moment. He tried to reason with him "B-Big Q! H-Hey I know your angry but lets just calm down and-" Tommy gets cut off by Quackity looking over at Wilbur who was frozen in place from disbelief, yelling out to him "Well if im a fucking fraud, I guess I can do anything I want then! Frauds are never believed in right? WELL HERE'S SOMETHING TO BELIVE IN, SOOT!" As soon as the declaration was stated, it was too late for Wilbur to pull the arrow from his wound and run, he wasn't fast enough to stop the sword that was brought down and into tommy's chest, he couldn't stop that scream to just wait a moment that was cut off. Wilbur was too late when his adrenaline filled body tackled Quackity to the ground as he pulled the sword from the already dead blonde. Wilbur managed to get the bloody sword from his rival, now sworn enemy; now yelling at him as he held the man down "ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?! DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE JUST DONE?! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" Wilbur didn't even realize he was crying while Quackity was staring off, the weight of his actions now settling on him. He fully realized that all the while he was protecting Tommy from dream, he failed to protect the boy from himself.

I haven't read the latest version of reality which has spewed unfiltered from Duchess Dreadful’s lips. To be honest, I don't care too. I know from reading columns and reports in newspapers and your various posts here, that as usual, it is a symphony of lies, half-truths, backstabbing, victimhood and hollow victory.
I've seen the photo of Meghan, dressing up deliberately as Diana again, on the front cover of The Cut and my first reaction was meh. My second reaction was isn't it incredibly sad that a woman in her 40s has no identity of her own? It is depressing that she keeps donning the costume of a dead woman and selling herself and her family for money.
There are calls in some quarters for the titles to be stripped (again) and for Harry to be removed as Counsellor of State (also again). I've often called for it in the past myself. Neither of these things is going to happen soon. At present, as deplorable as Meghan is and as duplicitous and traitorous we feel Harry is, our government is dealing with much bigger problems.
There is a cost of living crisis the likes of which hasn't been witnessed in over 40 years. Inflation is at an all-time high. Ofgem which regulates how much energy companies can charge for gas and electricity have removed the price cap restriction and this October, bills are set to rise by 80.6% before going up again in April. Strikes are happening almost daily. On top of all that, we are due to find out who our next Prime Minister will be in a matter of weeks and regardless of who wins, we are doubtless looking at a general election being called shortly after.
My point is, that as underhanded, mean-spirited and nasty as Meghan’s interview undoubtedly was, it's nothing new. It's bread and butter to her. It's the air that she breathes, the reason she gets up in the morning, manna from heaven. Every time she gives an interview like this, she expects a reaction and she gets it. People are talking about her. I'm doing it now. She could care less if we're praising or disparaging her. She just wants everyone to be talking. About HER.
The royal family know this. It's why they don't react to anything she does and rarely make any form of a statement. They refuse to give her what she wants, what she craves and needs. I think they have got it right at this moment in time.

Petty Corruption?
For several years I worked in Winnipeg Manitoba. By strange circumstances it was also the city I was born in but left when I was one month old.
Winnipeg is actually a fairly wealthy place. It was the center of wheat board trading, insurance, investment and all sorts of lucrative financial stuff. For decades every Sony device sold in Canada went through there and was marked up significantly.
There is a world class Ballet troupe and a Symphony Orchestra. It is in the middle of dead flat Prairie with hot summers and painfully cold winters.
It is also just like a small town where everyone knows everyone and networking and connections start in grade school. I worked in a construction and construction materials company. I was told the job there was to be an engineering manager, but after I went to see I was told that job had been given to a young guy who they would appreciate if I helped him develop his skills. The money was the same and I was stupid and stayed. The reason the young guy was there was he was the son of the City Manager.
In many cities the city manager is a non-elected bureaucrat who holds all the actual day to day power. My employer supplied materials and things directly to the city without bidding on them, and this young guy was the tit for the tat. There was a lot of city money coming in.
I learned a lot about ethics and law there as the bosses made an art of skirting both. Over time I was getting more and more uncomfortable but I learned there was no way around the "culture" in the office. The usual outlets to report such things were filled with people's friends and even family.
The last big event that turned me was a huge project. The local newspaper was part of a big national chain. They were building a new printing facility. It was huge, expensive and everything had to be built around and for the press machine being made in Germany. I had been moved to sales as I could do preliminary designs and price them in one go. I would go to design meetings and offer alternatives and rough costs and follow up quickly. The project was being done by a company called "The Austin Company". I had never heard of them. At lunch with their project managers I found out they never bid jobs to tenders. They always negotiated with the owners and did turnkey work. The company was one of the biggest in the world and very rich. I was impressed.
The project was really interesting. As is often the case in Winnipeg they liked to build in the winter. The ground is nice a hard rather than the usual horrible sticky mud. I prepared a scheme with the architects to prefabricate the whole thing so It could be built like a kit in any weather. I worked hard and refined it and made a very thorough price estimate. That was taken by the sales manager and the bosses fiddled it a bit before submission.
The next day the head of the office was smiling and said we got the job. I asked how was that possible, it was only submitted the day before. He then told me that we always were getting the job regardless. Our company was owned by a huge international construction materials conglomerate which also, surprise, owned the Austin Company.
That upset me in a strange way. First I was elated to get the job as it was a tricky one and I had put a lot into it. Next I was pissed that I had worked so hard when the bosses knew the fix was in. Finally I felt more than a bit dirty.
In my defense I did not know and did the best job I could so the product was a clean effort. I do not know what the fiddles in the prices were or what transpired on phone calls, but my part was clean. Still the smell of cheating was in the air.
There were more things later. Like the provincial lottery company building a palace for themselves without bidding it out. I was already making plans for an exit. When the for sale sign went up in front of my house I started to get calls from other companies about job offers. There was a gentlemen's agreement to not poach people from other firms but they knew where I lived and when my house went on the market. I wanted out of the city. It was too much.
So I left and headed back West. A new baby and my wife in two cars driving through a spring blizzard.

c!niki and c!wilbur enjoyers. pspspspspspsps
alright guys so last night i rewatched pretty much all of the pogtopia arc. and this isn’t meant to be a big, important analysis post (it’s kind of incomprehensible), because my brain is fried from, you know. rewatching pretty much all of pogtopia. but i do have some stuff i’d like to say.
(this also just became a niki meta sorry i love her. i really just got emo about her during the second half of this and it got long. i have a lot of feelings about her and wilbur’s friendship.)
it’s a pretty general conclusion that wilbur’s real “downfall” began on october 8th, during the stream “who are you go away”. of course, his spiral and the process of him losing faith had begun much earlier, more around the end of the first war or during the election. but the big switch, so to say, was definitely here, when as wilbur walks back from schlatt’s announcement, he asks tommy if they’re the bad guys.
this entire scene was so interesting to me. wilbur here is a man who has lost hope, someone who is backed into a corner morally and has nothing left. he points out that they can never really reclaim l’manburg without forever tainting it, and that schlatt knows this. the entire half an hour or so before, schlatt has been taunting wilbur about losing that power. the emphasis of the festival on “democracy” is so clearly a barb thrown at wilbur, and it works.
wilbur’s “nothing left to lose” in this vod is a mirror to niki’s “you know what they say about a woman who has nothing left to lose”. this will not be the first time they mirror each other.
basically, wilbur’s angry. when schlatt announced the festival, wilbur realized that maybe it wasn’t a terrible thing. so once he worked around into the mindset of “we’re the bad guys”, he was able to justify saying he was going to blow up the nation with no remorse. he wants chaos! he wants no survivors!
does he do it? god no.
during the streams leading up to november 16th, wilbur is consistently scared. he goes back and forth on it, and makes multiple “conditions” that determine whether he’s going to do it or not, almost begging someone to stop him. he whispers to himself that he’s scared, that his hands are shaking, that he’s not sure if it’s the right thing to do. because despite what he says about “not caring about any of them”, the instant niki is threatened after tubbo’s death, wilbur walks up to schlatt and tells him that if he’s going to kill anyone it should be him. later, when quackity and tommy talk him down from pressing the button, he can’t press it because they’re there and he can’t bring himself to kill them as well.
but he has no problems with putting his own life at risk. he refuses to wear armor half the time, and actively places himself in harm’s way to save others. he still cares about everyone else, as much as he says he doesn’t. even when he does cause harm to others, during november 16th, he immediately begs phil to kill him. “look, they all want you to.” he can’t live with what he’s done, and how he’s hurt people, but he couldn’t allow manburg to continue.
the man is terrified and angry and he can’t win. and even as he tries to stuff himself into the mind of someone who doesn’t care, he cannot. when he finally does, he cannot live with being that person.
but the reason i rewatched this arc was to see niki’s point of view, especially after her statements during her last stream. i genuinely think that wilbur’s only betrayal of her was pressing the button, because he betrayed everyone. they might have known he was going to do it, but they had faith he wouldn’t.
wilbur cared a lot about niki. her life under schlatt was awful, wilbur hated that she was suffering, and the scene where wilbur plants himself directly in the center of the festival and tells schlatt to kill him instead hits pretty hard. he has the argument with schlatt, and then turns to niki and tells her to run. he then hits people and sprints away, trying to give her time to escape.
this is also when he asks her to join pogtopia, because now that schlatt has said he’d kill her, it’s a safer place for her.
so the man did care about her. niki is angry at the memory of him that she has. it’s been twisted by time and her own grief and paranoia.
in rewatching pogtopia, i realized that a lot of people hate the memory of wilbur. not him, and what he did. they think he didn’t care. and to quote hamilton (apologies):
“history obliteratesit paints me in all my mistakes”
does niki have a right to be mad at him? absolutely. he caused direct harm to her by blowing up l’manburg, once it was reclaimed. but she’s wrong that he never cared.
(an interesting note: wilbur only blows it up after techno starts fighting people outside. he hears it, and says “look, they’re fighting”. he didn’t re-initiate the conflict of the country. the fact that even after peace was won people were fighting just gave evidence to his belief that the entire country was corrupted.)
niki has been hurt a lot, and wilbur has things to answer for. but we as the audience know that her statements are just her perception. she is a character who acts on perceptions. the entire stream was in black and white. during doomsday, upon seeing wilbur log on (as ghostbur), niki has a panic attack and destroys her bakery, trying to rid herself of the pain of the memories. her lines during this stream are chilling, whispered repetitions that are a mirror of wilbur’s end.
(paraphrased, it was long and confusing but there are a few bits and this was the essence of it)
“wilbur is gone. this isn’t happening. he is dead. l’manburg is gone.”“it is real, i am real, he is real and he is dead.”“l’manburg is gone, i am real, i am l’manburg”.
(god. dude i could spend Months analyzing this one stream alone. there’s so much here.)
doesn’t that sound a bit like “my unfinished symphony”? wilbur and niki both attach their own self to the nation they fought for, and can see it as an extension of themself. they both destroy parts of it in acts of fear, attempting to save everyone else from what they’ve made.
what i pulled away from niki’s stream is that she’s not healing. i remember the chamber she locks herself in at night. i remember her refusal to eat. i remember how she was so angry at tommy, and she later realized that anger was misguided. niki genuinely believes that wilbur did not care about her, and that’s not surprising: when he died, she denied the fact that he was gone. she represses the things that she can’t handle, same as lots of other people. it is easier for her to pin her hurt on wilbur, because she needs somewhere to pin it. people feel more in control if they’re angry, not sad.
the song cc!niki said was for her character really emphasizes this. it’s a coping mechanism.
but even condemning wilbur won’t help, because she will still never get closure. niki cares about what others think of her, and so she can’t move on from someone hurting her. she can’t move on because she thinks he hated her. she is angry that he is back, but it is an opportunity for her to heal. she couldn’t heal when he was gone. she’s not the only one with a negative perception of wilbur, after all. he has one too. the two of them really need to talk.
i want niki to be healthy and safe. i want to see her heal so badly, and i do think it will happen. after wilbur died, his betrayal of her stayed with her, and it eventually became her memory of the betrayal that she hated, not the thing itself. it’s been months since it happened. niki wants to find an outlet for her hurt, because she wants to feel better. there’s a pattern i noticed: she only gets mad at people once she hasn’t seen the person themself for a while. and once she sees them and talks to them, and realizes that they care about her and don’t want to hurt her, she stops blaming them for it. she only hates her perception of them. example one? tommy.
man was in exile for a long time, and when he came back he “brought” fighting. that’s how niki saw it. but the fact that after she spent time with tommy (trying to kill him but. details, details) she forgave him because she saw it wasn’t his fault is a really good sign.
i genuinely think that speaking to wilbur will help niki, and it will also help wilbur. after all, they both hate wilbur. the entire perception of wilbur as some heartless, crazy manipulator needs to be shattered for both of their sakes. they both buy into it.
i want niki to know that others care about her, and that she has places she can feel safe. she hates that wilbur is invading the syndicate, because she’s scared of his memory hurting her. i don’t think wilbur will hurt her on purpose, because even though he sees himself as awful, he doesn’t hate her. he never did. usually, with people who have hurt someone else, i want them as far away from the person they hurt as possible. if wilbur does hurt niki i’ll probably cry. but again, it’s not him that hated her, or really him that hurt her in the way she thinks he did. when wilbur was dead, niki didn’t get any better. her memory of him festered and made her feel worse. that’s also why niki killing wilbur or hurting him somehow wouldn’t help her heal. i want wilbur to explain that he didn’t hate her. is wilbur even close to self aware enough to help niki? nah. this is going to take a Long time, and it’s going to hurt.
last thing i swear lol
during niki’s stream, she says that wilbur manipulated her. again, i watched pogtopia last night, and i’ve watched the rest of season one recently as well. i genuinely don’t see it. but i do think i know why she said it.
during season one, wilbur doesn’t manipulate niki. he doesn’t have a chance to later, he’s dead. so then, what is she talking about? of course it’s a perception, same as a lot of her other claims. i think she’s talking about how she cared for l’manburg.
niki joined the server as wilbur’s friend, to join his nation. she grew to care for l’manburg. she devoted herself to it, same as he did. but doomsday showed us that she hates that. in niki’s eyes, l’manburg only brought pain for people, and because she ties herself to it, she hates that she ever cared about it. she can’t allow herself to care for it, because it was used to hurt. so how does she cope with knowing that she once did? she pretends she didn’t.
if she can convince herself that it was wilbur who convinced her to care about l’manburg, she can avoid blaming herself for her own pain. and yeah, she shouldn’t blame herself for it. it’s not her fault. the entire situation is tragic and a little hopeless and once again really makes me hope that she recovers. l’manburg was ruined for her by others. schlatt, techno, dream, wilbur. again another place where she and wilbur are similar: they convince themselves they never cared about l’manburg because of the hurt it caused.
to summarize: wilbur’s going to get a shock soon. don’t know when, but probably the prison visit. something is going to shake his perception, the story is hurtling towards that. once he is able to take responsibility for what he did, and feel safe (because a lot of what he does now is out of fear of being alone or useless), then he and niki need to talk. niki needs something to get her out of her own head. she’s spiraling too. they are essential to each other’s recovery because of how much they meant (and mean) to each other.
anyways i miss early season one niki i liked it when she was happy :(

My L'Manberg
this little piece right here, what if we, as the reader, blew up manberg (l'manberg), in the place of wilbur, and wilbur took the place of philza. this is in honor of wilbur getting revived.
gn!reader
pronouns: they/them
warnings: explosions, yelling, death/dead body, cursing, angst, blood
(gif not mine! it’s on pinterest)
Tumblr media
you were clapping for wilbur, in fact, most of the people was clapping for him. pogtopia and the rest defeated schlatt and his tyranny. finally schlatt's corrupt self wouldn't poison l'manberg, turned manberg.
wilbur gave his little speech about equality and peace and bla bla bla. then wilbur said something that was actually for importance, "it would be hypocritical if i lead this nation, so, i give the presidency to tommy, elected president tommyinnit, can you come up to the stage?"
tommy looked shocked, he didn't know that he would be leader of this nation. he came up onto the stage and hugged wilbur and thanked him for the opportunity.
"wow, in a million years i never thought that i would be president. well, thank you for the opportunity for this."
then he said something that blew everyone's minds for the second time, "i also cannot be president, i still have to get my discs back, and as i try to get cat and mellohi back from you dream, i can't handle a nation at the same time, so for the time being, i give the presidency to tubbo."
tubbo also looked shocked, not knowing that he was also a choice for the presidency of l'manberg. "holy shit guys, i never thought i would be pres, thank you tommy and wilbur for this opportunity, umm, so-"
you didn't hear anything else of tubbo's little speech. "how could they ignore me, i'm worthy to be president too." you thought to yourself. why would they complete forget that you were also a presidential candidate for l'manberg. you were one of the founder members of that nation. you, wilbur, tommy, tubbo, eret, even though he was a traitor, you guys found that wonderful nation. where men and women and just basically everyone could go and emancipate, right?
no, it wasn't like that anymore, l'manberg couldn't be restored to its former glory. nothing could be the same anymore. so you made the decision to blow the place to smithereens. you bargained with dream for 11 stacks of TnT.
"what do i get out of this if i give you this?"
"i'll give you all the op shit, the op armor, potions, weapons, and most of all, power, after all, don't you want to hold yourself in a higher position than tommy?"
he complied after you sweet talked him. he gave you 11 stacks of the TnT. so then you went to your little hiding place, hidden behind two blocks of stone. you pickaxed the stone, went inside, then placed it back.
"hmmm, should i, i mean, this is stupid. tommy shouldn't be president, i should, you khow what, no one should, everything we went through, everything that i went through, what's the point of this stupid nation, judgement and death passed on to everyone like a piece of cake at a birthday party, why should i let a hypocrite run this nation?" you contemplated.
it was confusing, you wanted to be president, but at the same time, you wanted this nation gone. meanwhile the other side was chaos. on the other side of the stone, the lyrical scribbles of the l'manberg anthem on signs, there was death. the badlanders and dream killing citizens of l'manberg. technoblade killing badlanders. but one person got away from this, it was the one and only wilbur soot.
he knew your little spot, he had found it on one of his daily strolls along l'manberg. he found the little seat you placed right in front of the button. right, the button, the one that would set his, your, nation up in flames and destruction.
so he went to the little spot, knowing he would find you there, since you were missing from the surface. "y/n, what are you doing here?" he asked you. he knew what you wanted to do. "why are you doing this y/n, we won manberg, no l'manberg back, why you want to destroy it?"
you were furious, why would he ask you a ridiculous question. "BECAUSE WILBUR, YOU AND TOMMY AND TUBBO ARE HYPOCRITES, YOU ALL DON'T DESERVE TO BE PRESIDENT, I DO, OR NO ONE DOES." you yelled at him. "i seriously was about to push this button, why did you stop me?" you groaned. you were about to push the button before he came into the hiding spot.
you heard people try to get to you and wilbur. "noo, they can't come in here." you retaliated.
"you don't know how close i was going to push this button, 7-8 times i think. you can't stop me wilbur." you blankly stated.
"no, y/n, don't do this."
those five measly words didn't stop you. you said one finally thing before l'manberg would be gone, "wilbur, are you familiar with the traitor of this nation, eret, well he said something, it was never meant to be." those words from eret, the ones that would be one of your final statements of your life.
you pressed the button and everything went haywire. the stone in front of you guys exploded, scratching your skin, making it bleed. wilbur trying to cover your body from the explosion. people being launched in the air. people getting killed from their enemies. people being in shock of the sudden explosion that occured in l'manberg. they finally got it back, now suddenly ripped to shreds.
"MY L'MANBERG WILBUR, MY UNFINISHED SYMPHONY FOREVER UNFINISHED, IF I CAN'T HAVE THIS NO ONE CAN." you saluted wilbur. signs of the lyrics smashed across the ground. blood shed everywhere. people looking at you with horror.
"KILL ME WILBUR, KILL ME." you demanded him. "NO I CAN'T, YOU'RE MY FRIEND." he answered. "FUCK THAT, KILL ME, DRIVE YOUR SWORD IN MY CHEST, COME ON, KILLBUR, KILLBUR, KILL ME, COME ON MR. PRESIDENT, DO IT."
you threw a sword at him, "take my life right now, i can't handle the embarrassment, please kill me." you whispered at him. all you wanted was death. he picked up the enchanted diamond sword, and drove the sword right through your heart. "thank you wilbur." you told him. your final words, haunting him, ringing through his ears. everyone looking at him with shock.
your blood coating the sword. everyone looked at your dead body. but then, wilbur hugged you to his chest. "why y/n, we had everything, you had everything." he cried, and he cried, and he cried until phil came and consulted him. "it's ok son, it's ok, let it all out." he sobbed in phil's arms, hoping that this was a nightmare, and that you were alive, and that l'manberg was blown apart.
but no, it was reality, you died by his hand, l'manberg was done for, and everything was torn to shreds, never getting rebuilt ever again.
-
(This is a extra piece, let me know what you think about it.)
you woke up in your bed, feeling like shit. you remembered what happened, your TnT ruining l'manberg. wilbur driving your sword through your chest, the pain, your final last words.
you forgot that you didn't have one last life during the explosion, you had two left. the first canon life you lost was from dream, during the disc war. the second was by wilbur. wilbur, your savior, the one who gave you peace for once in your life. "so i have one last life huh?"
so, later on made a beautiful house in the middle of nowhere, pet enderman named bob, op potions, armor, and weapons. you kept yourself secret from everyone, making sure that no one would find out you were alive.
(this part was kinda poo, i just added it for no reason)

revivedbur is so fucked up (affectionate) and while its frustrating seeing him talking about how he (known fucking pacifist who doesn't wear armor, only uses bows because theyre impersonal, physical embodiment over the pen is mightier than the sword) wanted to disembowl dream for how he was treating tommy during exile to going to saying that dream is his hero and saying that if dream had died in his place, that wilbur would be in there.
and that is frustrating, isn't it? but then you think about how long wilbur has been left with no one but himself in the void. think about how clearly mentally ill and unstable he is, left alone with his thoughts after being so deeply paranoid and so horribly suicidal after his own exile, and how he made himself into a villain because it's what he believed he was. don't you think that wilbur would think that he's just as bad as dream? he even said that he would be in that prison if dream was dead. of course he's going to sympathize with dream, for just a bit, even after seeing things from ghostbur's point of view.
you also have to remember that he only has ghostbur's memories. ghostbur didn't see the worst of exile. dream made sure that ghostbur was lost in the snow for a good portion of it.
and again, bouncing off what cloudienon said in this post, humans are not meant to go through the amount of pain and suffering that wilbur went through while in the void, alone, for thirteen and a half years (on top of what he went through after schlatt was elected president). just to survive that, he had to grow extremely desensitized to everything going on because it is literally the only way for him to cope and survive.
i do believe that he's going to get his redemption, and his healing. his symphony will come to a close, eventually, but people who are currently very critical of c!wilbur (and you have every right to be, i know ive gotten pissed hearing some of the things he's said), realize where the hell he's coming from.

Thoughts from Q-Man's breakdown of his S3 Lore Streams (2nd Channel Video Versions)
Quackity is apparently streaming on his QuackityToo Twitch and broke down his lore videos (around the 45 min mark onwards, I believe). Watch the videos in question here and here!
Sam started to wear less and less armor the more Quackity visited
Hopefully, Sam will stream or explain this further, but that? Oh, it says a lot. I'm interpreting this as Sam's growing trust and gratitude in Quackity, as someone who can keep to the order and lawfulness of his beloved prison much better than he can.
We know that at the time, emotion still gets to Sam, something Quackity chose to abandon the moment he was left behind by team Kinoko.
Mice on Venus was the song used to open the pre-Election flashback sequence
I know this isn't deliberate and really was most likely chosen for the purposes of mood-setting, but I cannot help but reach out onto parallels.
This flashback marks the pre-Election conversation between Wilbur and Quackity, where Quackity tries to maintain a friendship with his opponent only to learn Wilbur's paranoia-tainted perspective. (I mean I know the music doesn't actually play during the conversation, just hear me out.)
The last moment of note wherein Mice on Venus was played was when Tubbo discussed his feelings about the Presidency (and exiling Tommy) to Ranboo, both political rivals for the supposed next Election at the time.
CC!Quackity describes his character as having an "unfinished symphony"
I mean, I knew the Quackity-Wilbur parallels are there, but this just canonizes it. CC!Quackity's making his character deliberately imitate Wilbur.
"It's not about what [El Rapids] had, but what it meant,"
Can't go on further about the obvious implications of that statement without comparing it to:
L'Manburg, a country dead and the initial inspiration of the country
Gogtopia of the Tale of The Town That Never Was, particularly on what the lesson of the Tale was about

Ghostbur and Wilbur are just so sad
Wilbur created a full nation with others, they fought for it, they gained independence after a war, everything was fine, but then got carried away by his own desire for power trying to rig elections and it fired back, resulting in actual competition, which he still would've fucking won if it weren't for him again, getting carried away by a desire for power and making coalitions legal only thinking about it benefitting him against Schlatt, which also fired back, and he got defeated.
Now he lost his nation and started to see that all of his actions from the start of the election plan were rather bad, thus seeing himself as the villain, and with nothing to lose letting himself go full forward with that, eventually just becoming more and more reckless, more paranoid that everyone would just leave him because he didn't have any power anymore, becoming more anxious because of that, and so embedded on the idea that he was completely bad and that all that made L'manburg what it was had been lost when Schlatt came in, he just wanted to destroy it all.
While all of this mental turmoil was going on, he also had his own son tearing down the walls, burning rhe flag and denying he was his father to his face, just to come back and reveal that he was a spy at the last minute, by this point his trust in people was so fucked, of course he wouldn't entirely come to trust him again either. His paranoia is a BIG part of his character as Vilbur, and we could say that it all also stems from Eret's original betrayal back when L'manburg was still part of the greater SMP.
Also while this was going on, he had Dream just egging him on, playing him like a pawn to his own ends, and taking advantage of his mental state which was already in favour of just blowing it all up and giving him all the supplies needed even if Dream was technically fighting for the other side, because in the end Dream never ever cared for any form of L'manburg, Dream benefits the most with L'manburg being gone, and with Wilbur there he wouldn't even have to do it himself.
Then he dies of assisted suicide in his father's hands, remembering the song and making it clear that it's all in past tense, blowing up his creation, with a crazed laugh and leaving his symphony forever unfinished with the same words once used by the original traitor when trying to destroy it at its roots. Most people end up just remembering him as "the crazy bad dude" even if they miss him, "my bad dad" in one case, "my dear friend" in another.
And he comes back really quickly, but not as himself, but as an incomplete version, a ghost that's the embodiment of innocence by virtue of being physically incapable of remembering the sad things. He can't make amends with his son because he can't remember the bad times. He can't make up for the things people resent him for because he's just as informed as an observer from afar, one that people won't even tell much to because of how sensible the topic is and because of how Ghostbur is, especially with how avoidant he is.
But he reconstructs. Where Wilbur destroyed reaching the end of his straws, Ghostbur built back up again, making everything so much prettier, and only wanting people to be happy, giving blue to suck up everyone's sadness all the time.
Once Ghostbur told Tubbo that he was surely a better president than he himself was, adding as evidence the fact that he didn't even get a grave, no one cared that he died. To which Tubbo responds with "You're still here so we don't miss you yet". To which he says "I'm not him, Tubbo... I'm not Wilbur"
And he remembers dying as a happy memory, his father stabbing him as "the hero slaying the dragon", even if he doesn't have the reason for it clear, he knows people only see Alivebur as "the crazed bad guy".
Phil then blows up New L'manburg, killing friend and only saying he's sending a message that Ghostbur won't understand, he just talks to him as a toddler, and it's so telling when Ghostbur has his outburst and says that he knows he's an amnesiac, and the comedic relief in all of their stories, but he still feels things, all the while throwing his blue at himself. He laments the loss of Friend, laments the loss of the town that he rebuilt where everyone lived, where all their stuff was, where memories were made. "I sowed the seeds of peace and yet I'm the one who pays for war".
And he decides he wants to be revived. Not because he wishes to stop existing as Ghostbur but because he doesn't see himself as strong or apt enough to lead people to a better way, to get everyone out of a rut, even if he only knows that the last of Alivebur was "the crazed bad guy", he knows he was a good leader, and he does remember times when he was ok and happy.
But then the resurrection attempt fails. And Ghostbur disappears.
And that's the end of it.
He just up and disappeared.
Never revived by the people he told. Not left alone in death either.
Now Dream wants to revive Wilbur and use him as a pawn again, but much more explicitly. Now he's planning to tie Wilbur down by the idea of being grateful for his life being given back, even if Wilbur has expressed a desire to stay dead (different from Ghostbur), and use him to escape, make him his playing piece that he can let die and revive when wants, possibly. And Tommy said he got worse while dead, but we don't exactly know how much worse. Did his paranoia grow in the afterlife? Or just a want for destruction? All we saw was that he saw his death as a good thing, because him and Tommy are at the root of all problems, so he sees himself coming back as inevitable chaos and destruction again, "I know what I'm like, that's the issue"
Basically, his character is tragic, be it as Wilbur or Ghostbur and he doesn't seem to catch a break. I love his character so much, man, he makes me sad
