Damon's Letter to Bonnie
I am a coward.
I should be saying this to your face,
not writing this letter, but...
I know if I do, you'll talk me out of
running away from all my problems.
You're gonna make me face
a future without Elena.
Then you're gonna help make me the
best man that I can possibly be.
The same way she did.
And I'm absolutely terrified
of failing you both.
So I'm leaving.
Because I'd rather let you
down once... than let you down
for the rest of your life.
And I hope it's the happiest life.
are an amazing woman,
a mediocre crossword puzzle player
and my best friend.
With great love and respect,

I absolutely love Elena, she made the entire show. The last 2 seasons of tvd were trash without her. Everyone made terrible decisions without her. She was an amazing friend to everyone in the group. She was so brave, she always tried to put herself before everyone else. Yes I agree that bonnie was the most selfless character but elena was just as selfless, the only difference was nobody would let her be. Everyone inside and outside the fandom always complains about how whiny and dramatic she is bc she cries alot, but If you even watch the show you would know how much she has been through. And her falling for both the salvatore brothers isn't a reason to hate on her, when caroline literally did the same thing. You could say damon compelled her to love him but still. Stelena was great, the were in love but they weren't soulmates. I believe Stefan's soulmate was katherine, change my mind. Elena's soulmate was damon. And Damon's soulmate was Elena. And like stefan said so many times in the show, he needed his brother more then he needed Elena, elena taught damon how to love again. Elena has lost every single member of her family. She lost both of her parents, her adoptive and biological. She lost her aunt Jenna, then she lost rick, and then Jeremy. She then lost damon and bonnie. Everyone needs to just give this girl some slack. She truly believes that she is responsible for her entire family's deaths. Her parents died picking her up from a party, john died saving her life from klaus, jenna died at the hands of klaus during a full moon ritual because of her blood. Rick died bc there lives were linked. Jeremy died bc she wasn't there to protect him from katherine. This teenage girl has gone through so much grief that I'm suprised she even has any love left to give. But she does Elena Gilbert's middle name should be love. She takes care of everyone and she loves them all so deeply that she has almost died protecting all of them. Elena is under rated and she is hated for no reason. Don't lie and say that without her the show was better because it actually sucked. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

for the prompt: don’t trust me + nerostasia
i went all out for this one tf!!! i also kinda twisted the prompt but shhh
One time it got darker than usual and Max could see it in her eyes-- her eyes were never quite shielded from strong emotion-- which went from open as the full moon to dark as a new one. She gobbled up another hors d’oeuvre with a pinky up, regressing to a time where she had to prove proper to survive, sipped the white wine with unusually tremoring hands, splayed her fingers and then unsplayed them in one quick heartbeat. It got darker, and she fled slowly and menacingly through the rest of the hallway and into the bathroom. Max, a gentleman, a lover-to-friend, a beast of a person quite honestly and nothing close to being equipped to deal with strong emotion, followed the sound of her heels click-click-clicking on the marble.
Anastasia had been drinking. She was far from blackout, but the last time Max saw her this angry, they both were hungover in a G.L.O.V.E. meeting the next day. He knew that sometimes all it took for a dam to break was just the slightest of cracks. Anastasia was very self aware of how many sips informed them.
She was taking her hair down, hiding her wine stain birthmark with a flood of darkness. Studying herself in the pristine mirror, leaning on her elbows over the sink. She did not look away from her reflection when Max entered but scoffed in the back of her throat at the oakmoss cologne infiltrating the small room.
“What do you want?” Her voice was sharp, cutting through the air like a razorblade.
“I wanted to,” damage control, “check in on you. You don’t look well.”
“Shouldn’t you be with Elena?”
“Anastasia, you’re upset.”
“This is none of your business,” she grit her teeth and was upright again very suddenly, too suddenly and strictly for a drunk person.
“Is this about Elena?” Max asked, the snakes in his guts riling up with the satisfaction of getting a rise out of Anastasia. Causing problems on purpose. He needn’t say much else, not when Anastasia was already so openly wounded and intoxicated.
“It’s about what you want it to be about, Nero. It’s about you,” a vicious point of the finger,” destroying my,” a reversal of the finger, “family, it’s about you destroying her.”
“You don’t trust me? This is what it’s about right-- you don’t trust me with her--”
“No. No I don’t.” The clarity of her voice, as if she had just broken out of a deep water and ascended back to air, stopped Max just enough to drop his train of thought. In this pause, she walked over to him. For a moment, it looked like she would kiss him, with her familiar nude-painted lips and what lay behind them. But instead, she made an obvious path for the door, just behind him.
Max, riled but relieved, assumed it was over, but Anastasia caught him at the waist as she left, digging nails of one hand through his shirt and into his side, “you shouldn’t trust her. This is my last warning. She doesn’t know what she wants. She’s manipulative and probably already has you wrapped around her finger. She’s a blight on this bloodline. I’m not saying you have to come back to me-- I honestly don’t want to feel your eyes on me ever again. I hope she ruins your perfect little life.”
She let go and slithered the rest of the way past him, to the door. As she pulled it open, she snapped, “less cologne next time.”
