5 yr haircut comic retrospective:

surprisingly still quite pleased with how it turned out stylistically/drawing-wise. i think my major nitpick is that the "what you won" line might be confusing; it's not in a speech bubble mostly because i had difficulty getting the panel composition to work with it in the bubble, but given that it's the only thing not in a speech bubble, it might be unclear as to whether yam actually says that aloud.

overall i have a very big fondness for it because i had a lot of fun making it and i think it turned out, and also what's more self-indulgent than a loving comic sequence depicting ur own dragon age ocs having a conversation? (i'll tell you what's more self-indulgent: i do sometimes still toy with an idea i have for a potato and morrigan conversation comic that may or may not imply that they had a threesome for the dark ritual)

2022 and still plagued by the same old dragon age thoughts

which are mostly about how in origins and inquisition, the characters i was most interested in romancing were straight (or straight up not a romanceable option) and i just think that’s so rude. it’s not in yam’s character but as a player i hit every flirt option with cassandra to the point where we had to have that awkward talk. vivienne..... i know ur having a whole situation over there but uhhh if you need someone to talk to. maybe if ur feelin it after a few years or however much time you need to grieve... call me? 🥺 and i know a lot of people aren’t into blackwall but maybe i would have considered making my first dragon age dude pc to have that grizzled farmcore full of lies drama fling? i think even professor egghead over there would have appealed to me more as a romance option if we coulda gayed it up a bit. i like tragic drama!

anyway this is all to say that the song “sometimes i still feel the bruise” (i first heard the mountain goats version) is a potato and morrigan song 😔

unfortunately spent most of this morning thinking about dragon age. if da4 is ever officially announced will i replay the series? is it a flaw of trying to make a game series with lots of player choice that the choices don’t really echo or radically affect later games because that would be super hard to account for all of the different choices, or is it just speaking to how ineffective it feels being an individual actor trying to exert change in a world where most of the powerful actors are bent a different way which i understand more and more as i live as an adult in our world,
