My fics about Aredhel
Tumblr media
Ambiguous relationship – Mature audiences – 5,700 words – AO3 link – Tumblr link – inspired by wonderful art by Isilloth
Celegorm and Aredhel are wild things and lovers of wild things, but the poison of Morgoth's words and the unrest of Noldor seeps into their relationship too, turning it bitter.
Tumblr media
Family, angst – General audiences – 2,100 words – AO3 link – Tumblr link
Aredhel didn’t truly love the gleaming white of Gondolin that tried too much to be like Tirion, and felt like a bright cage; but her new home in Nan Elmoth grows darker over the years, shadows gathering close around her.
Tumblr media
Canon divergence & ambiguous relationship – Teen and up audiences – 3,000 words – AO3 link – Tumblr link – inspired by wonderful art by houndsofvalinor
AU where Celegorm and Curufin meet Aredhel and Maeglin when they're escaping Nan Elmoth.
They come to Himlad, and Celegorm and Aredhel have a late-night conversation by firelight about how things have been between them and how they perhaps will be.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?  184
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
1,324,851
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Tolkien. The Silmarillion. Buffy (mostly crossovers). Hunger Games. (Used to do HP, but these days the author does not spark joy.)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Sun Also Rises
Picking Up the Pieces
The Unspoken Rule
Bring Out Your Dead
By Dawn's Early Light
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! Sometimes very belatedly, but I try to get to all of them.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Not sure. Define angsty?
Maybe The Deep Breath Before The Plunge? (Dangled the possibility of a happy ending in front of Maeglin just before the Nirnaeth...)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
??
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. (Don't take it as a challenge. There's a delete button on comments for a reason.) Though some people appear to have read completely different source material than I did...
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I'm more noted for fade to black than smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I have been known to on occasion... 🤣
Probably my still unfinished Buffy/BSG cross. I really oughta get back to that sometime.
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
A couple times, usually for SWG challenges.
13. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Celebrían/Elrond (The entire Daughters of Celebrían 'verse started because I thought they deserved better and so did Joyce Summers.)
14.  What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Given enough time I will finish them all! ...except maybe Out of the Blue and The Long Road Home, which I lost the outlines/notes/WIP files for when my hard drive died back in the late aughts.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I'm always thinking on stories if I have nothing else to do.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Actually writing them down.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If used sparingly it can be effective.  (Keeping this one, @spiced-wine-fic as it's on the nose.)
18. First fandom you wrote for?
HP.
19.  Favourite fic you’ve written?
I like them all.
Trying to tag folks I haven't seen already tagged... @joyfullynervouscreator @sallysavestheday @jaz-the-bard @edgeoflight @hhimring @elesianne @starspray and anyone else who would like to play.

5 Foods: 4 you love & 1 you hate
I was tagged by @spiced-wine-fic
Hate: has to be margarine. Oh OK 'low fat spread' or whatever they call it now. I literally have had nightmares about margarine. The most loathesome food of all foods. Either eat butter or something nice like olive oil or at least neutral like sunflower oil , don't shilly-shally around with ... that stuff. Nor is it wise to bake with it. Eucchrrhrhrh
Love : All other foods. Oh, is that not specific enough?
OK:
A really good crab with garlic.
STILL WARM BREAD
An apple fresh from the tree.
LYCHEES. Oh wow lychees.
I tag, rather randomly since I am fairly sure everyone eats some kind of food: @joyfullynervouscreator @quillingmesoftly @grundyscribbling @jamcake-muses @elesianne if any of you feel like thinking about food today.

Good evening! Your word is: TOUGH.
Jaskier let himself drop unceremoniously next to the fire. It was rather painfully devoid of any kind of meat this evening. Usually, when sleeping outside, there might be rabbits or a pheasant crackling away above the flames, if they were lucky. If they were very lucky, it would be a deer.
The recently-dispatched werewolf stalking the forest had done a rather thorough job or either eating or scaring off anything worth hunting. Tomorrow, once the village was awake, they’d return for Geralt’s pay and buy apples and fresh bread. Tonight, it would be whatever Geralt could find in the bottom of his pack, which he was digging through meticulously.
Jaskier’s stomach gurgled noisily as he stared into the fire. He shifted, feeling awkward, well aware that Geralt could hear it. Geralt looked up, his expression almost apologetic, then passed him a little bundle wrapped in linen.
It was cured meat - the last of the cured meat, Jaskier assumed. The rich, beefy smell had dulled somewhat after a week in the bottom of Geralt’s bag.
Geralt spotted Jaskier’s expression. “It’s all we have,” he said.
“Is this it?” Jaskier frowned, “What about you?”
Geralt shrugged. “I’m a witcher. I’ll live.”
“Oh, no, we’re not doing this again.” Jaskier shook his head. “None of this I’m a witcher business. I refuse to eat while you starve.”
He tried, with no success at all, to rip the strip of meat in half. It was greasy and twisted in his fingers, refusing to break. He huffed, then was struck with sudden inspiration, and lifted the morsel to his mouth to tear the damn thing with his teeth.
He paused. “Ah…” he said, realising suddenly that Geralt’s sensibilities were more delicate than his own, and he would probably not care for a piece of meat that Jaskier had slobbered all over, “Do you mind? Sorry, it’s just so tough…”
Geralt was staring at him. His eyes were fixed on the meat, poised between Jaskier’s lips. Clearly he was hungrier than he was letting on. Jaskier sighed.
“You know what,” he said, “here.” He tossed the scrap towards Geralt who caught it, despite still looking far-away and distracted. “You clearly need it more than I do.”

Hair Braiding/Cutting/Care found family prompt for Elwing and Idril in the havens of Sirion? Elwing is still so young (8) when this other princess who lost 'her' realm and much of her family arrives in Sirion, maybe Idril teaches her some things? Not necessarily with Idril being maternal if you don't feel like that, but some little moment of kinship of spirit and experience.
29. Hair Braiding/Cutting/Care
Idril could see at once that the poor little princess had hardly any ellith looking after her. Ellyn were not so different from their female counterparts, not really—but little girls needed other ladies in their life, and poor Elwing had none, or very few.
Which was why, before any politics or even settling in, she handed Eärendil off to Tuor and requested an audience with the princess of Doriath.
“Your Highness,” said the girl, curtsying properly. She was so young—even if she was part mortal, like Idril’s son, and grew faster for that, she was too young to carry such weight. Idril wanted to lift some of that off her, let her be a little girl for once.
“None of that,” Idril said firmly, plopping herself down on a cushion she knocked off a chair. “From one exiled princess to another—if we can’t be honest with ourselves, who can we be honest with?”
Elwing stared at her, then giggled. She, too, plopped down on the floor.
“I’m Elwing,” she said shyly.
“I’m Idril,” she replied. She tilted her head. “Goodness! When was the last time an elleth braided your hair?”
Elwing shrugged. “Evranin, my nurse, she...well, the orcs got her last year. Thranduil’s in charge of me now, but he’s only a few decades older than me and he’s not happy about looking after a child.” She said the word with some distaste, and Idril’s heart squeezed.
“May I?” Idril asked, and was relieved when Elwing nodded, scooting closer to her.
“I know a thing or two about nurses and young lords who don’t want to look after you,” she sighed, her hands busy unraveling Elwing’s braid. “I was young when my mother died—older than you, you brave girl, but still young—and when anyone managed to distract my father long enough for him to let go of me and get some sleep...” She shook her head. “Well, Uncle Finno had a good heart, but he had a lot on his mind.”
“Thranduil doesn’t have an excuse,” Elwing grumbled. “He just thinks he’s too cool to take care of me. Not that I need taking care of.”
“Of course not,” Idril hummed, though Elwing looked to be the same age as Eärendil and certainly needed a minder. But you can’t tell an eight year old that and expect them to take it well, especially not one as proud and stubborn and damaged as Elwing. Maybe it wasn’t that Elwing needed space to be a child; maybe she needed someone to take her seriously, too.
“Tell me what life is like here, Elwing,” she suggested, beginning to twist her hair into Vanyar-style braids. “My people look to me...but I need help from a wise princess like you to tell them what to expect.”
Elwing sat up a little straighter, and Idril’s heart broke a little more. “Well,” she began, “aside from orcs there’s Kinslayers to avoid, and we mustn’t forget how fickle Ossë can be...”
She’d be alright, this one, Idril knew. But while she could, Idril wanted her not to be alone—and she was happy to help in that regard.
Idril needed a friend, too.

Ever since @elesianne told me her headcanon about Carnistir having daughters I’ve been madly in love with the idea. Expect more art of Moryo being the best and most adoring father ever. <333

Frequently Asked Questions
(This is the mobile app accessible version of this page. Please do not reblog this post.)
What is Finwëan Ladies Week? This is a week-long event celebrating the ladies of the line of Finwë! There have been events within the Silmarillion fandom focused on the sons of Finwë and their descendants, and to add to the fun this week was established to give his wives, daughters, and other female descendants their own time to shine.
When is Finwëan Ladies Week? Finwëan Ladies Week will run September 19-25, 2022. The first event ran September 15-21, 2019, the second event ran October 5-11, 2020, and the third event ran October 4-10, 2021.
Who counts as a “Finwëan lady”? The obvious answers are any of Finwë’s female relatives, but we welcome out-of-the-box fan theories about how a canon character could be related to Finwë as well as original characters and the incorporation of non-canonical characters. Basically, if you think your character counts as Finwëan, we’re excited to boost your content!
Okay, that answers the “Finwëan” part, but what about “lady”? Good question! As long as the character (or your interpretation of the character) has a connection to womanhood, however you want to interpret that, they’re eligible for inclusion. The creator of this event is trans/nonbinary, and encourages you explore trans headcanons, genderbending, and other ways of exploring gender within fanworks, if that’s something you want to do!
How do I participate? In any way you want! We accept art, fic, meta, graphics, gifs, headcanons—pretty much any fan creation you can think of! There are optional prompts for each day, but feel free to let your imagination run wild. You can submit your work directly to this blog or make an original post on your own blog with #finweanladiesweek in the first 20 tags (minus the hashtag) AND @mentioning this blog. You can also send DM a mod with a link to your submission.
Do I have to participate every day? Nope! You can participate as many times as you want to, whether that means submitting one creation or 20 or just consuming other people’s content. We are happy to have you here no matter how involved you want to be!
What if I don’t like the prompts? Then don’t use them! The prompts are there to inspire you, not to restrict your creativity. We accept all kinds of content, related to the prompts or not.
Can I contribute an in-progress work? Yes! You can contribute whatever kind of fanwork you want, even if it’s not finished. We want to inspire you to create content about the Finwëan ladies, and if that means you continue on with it after the event is over, that’s great! Additionally, if your work is already in-progress and you want to update it or promo it during the week, that is also encouraged, so other people can find and consume your content!
What if I don’t finish my fanwork in time for the event? Feel free to post what you have and tag us anyway—we accept in-progress works! Alternatively, tag the blog whenever you are finished and ready to post it—we will be happy to promote it even outside the event.
Can I focus my fanwork on OCs? Absolutely! We are OC-friendly—especially since we don’t have names for a lot of these ladies! We even have a day dedicated to your original characters, whether they have basis in canon or not.
Why haven’t you reblogged my post? Posts are queued as the mods encounter them! Your post should be reblogged within 24 hours or so. If you see a like on your post from either mod @arofili or @elesianne, your post is probably in the queue! If it’s been 24 hours and you don’t see a like and your post hasn’t been reblogged, we may have missed it—feel free to send it to us or ask us if we’ve seen it! We want to boost your content, but tumblr’s tagging and @ing mechanisms can be faulty.
Is there an AO3 collection for the event? Yes! You can find it here. [Note: this is for last year’s event. For the upcoming 2022 event, we do not yet have an AO3 collection set up.]
Are there any other rules? Only a few!
Do not repost content by other creators without their explicit permission.
Respect other people’s headcanons and interpretations, even if you don’t share them.
Content and creators espousing radical feminism in any form are not allowed to participate.
Other forms of bigotry are also not allowed. Please check our sister event Tolkien Gen Week’s Code of Conduct page for a more expansive list on this topic.
Violation of these rules will result in you being blocked.
I have another question… Contact us via an ask, or reach out to the creator @arofili on their own blog :)

Favourite works of 2020
Thank you @elesianne for tagging me! :)
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works! I absolutely have no sense of time, but after looking through my blog I think 2020 was the year I made most of the fanart on there? That’s gotta count for something, right? Especially ‘cause I graduated and made a graphic novel at the same time.
1 - Feanorian inventory series I’m kinda proud of myself for starting this and sticking with it. It also made me think about the characters more. Especially when I had seemingly all items down, but there were still gaps to fill, so I had to think some more and eventually came up with headcanons and new ideas for illustrations or comics (which I’ll be working on).
2 - This Maeglin piece I spent hours on that, drawing every tiny line traditionally on a too small light box. Also the fact that I streamed the lineart process and still managed to get somewhat straight lines even though I was nervous af is a win by itself.
3 - Sweet sweet Russingon Was a close call between that and the latest one. Honestly I can’t resist drawing them and whenever I draw them happy, I’m happy. Maybe I like this one so much because I drew a proper background for once?
4 - Uinen (or Maiar concept) I made this after discovering that new brush for myself and I really dig that soft look. I tried to be more “daring” in choosing the colors and the whole concept of what the Maiar have to look like.
5 - My first nsfw piece! I actually have a lot of nsfw sketches lying around, but I never dared to make more with them, so this was big thing for me. Anatomy is something I really really love and these kinds of illustrations are basically just that and I don’t have to come up with designs for garments. I also like the hashtag nastymagpie if I were to make more.
I’ll tag @tar-miki @mandhos @stormxpadme @kayemagistro , if you’d like to. I’m sorry if this post is a mess, because I never make text posts and apparently don’t know how tumblr works.

@elesianne asdfghjklilg bless you for enabling me, the short answer is Caranthir, the long one’s under the cut:
So, he’s maybe the only Feanorian to show positive character development? I mean, there’s the guy who hated dwarves just because they were ugly and then there’s this, from the coming of men into the west:
Then Caranthir looked kindly upon Men and did Haleth great honour; and he offered her recompense for her father and brother. And seeing, over late, what valour there was in the Edain, he said to her: 'If you will remove and dwell further north, there you shall have the friendship and protection of the Eldar, and free lands of your own.'
That’s development! Good 4 u, kid. I hc that he starts being more empathetic, after this (superiority just, in general seeming like a pretty Noldorin thing, imo). And going, again, with the version where one of the Ambarussa dies at Losgar, and the hc where the three were close growing up, I think Caranthir was really affected by how Not Okay the surviving twin was, while living with him on Amon Ereb after the Bragollach. Amrod/ras was a direct casualty of the Oath. I think realizing that, and hearing about what Celegorm and Curufin were attempting in Nargothrond, finally drove home the true nature of the Oath for him, what it was reducing the Feanorians to.
He was really reluctant to fulfill it after that--he thought Doriath was a terrible idea. At that point, he was more willing to consign himself to whatever ‘everlasting darkness’ was than to kill innocent people. So, he did. I hc that he died in Doriath for not trying not to.
Except. Nothing happened. He just went to Mandos, like he was supposed to.
(Idk, I just really like the image of the Feanorians doing all these terrible things to avoid this doom for themselves/their siblings, never once realizing that hey, maybe everlasting darkness wasn’t fucking literal??? Who woulda thunk it. I haven’t validated this bit very much, so far it’s mostly along the lines of ‘maybe the real Darkness was the atrocities we committed along the way’ but you gotta get them out of the void somehow, right?)
Which is a lot of buildup to say that he’s actually got a better state of mind than his other brothers when they died. He doesn’t have to spend his first few...centuries, millennia, whatever in the Halls on the realization-journey that maybe kinslaying was a Bad Idea. So, he hangs about Finwe’s spirit, pontificates for maybe the first time in his damn life--unlife?--and figures that the logical next part of the ten-step program should be making amends, right? And he’s. He’s not a patient boy. It wasn’t in his names. Blushy? Yes. Patient? Nah. So he’s wondering why he can’t just do that then when he finds out the only prerequisite for being released from the Halls is wanting to leave.
He farms. Grows nice beefsteak tomatoes. No one that knew him is sure what to do with that.

Hey! I hope you're having a wonderful day! I'm here for some fic recs... Ig?
Do you know any good fics with fëanorian or hobbit fluff? Would be great! (Could be drabbles or long fics I don't mind!)
(going in anon because it's more comfortable)
Hi! I'm having an excellent day! And you are always welcome to message on anon! <3 These are mostly drabbles, but I did include one longfic, which is one of my favorites!
also: my Tolkien sideblog is @tol-himling and I have some rec lists there as well; not all of the stuff is gen or fluff though
Hobbits/The Fellowship: The "Fellowship Shenanigans" series by kathkin
(T) (G) (G) (G), Assorted Members of the Fellowship You wanted Hobbits? We've got Hobbits. You want fluff? We've got fluff shenanigans. The premise: being stuck together on Ye Olde Transcontinental Road Trip breeds the Absurdest Conversations Possible and it is absolutely Pippin's fault.
"Marred but Remade" by SpaceWall
(T) Maedhros, Fellowship Characters This is the longfic I was talking about. Maedhros gets Sent Back to join the Fellowship.
Feanorians: "Tenderly They Turned to Dust" by crownlessliestheking
(G), Feanor & Curufin Good Dad Feanor. He and his son spend the day in the forge.
"Fruitcake" by Elesianne
(G) Feanorians Little Tyelpe bakes a cake for Midwinter. The results are... interesting. Very fluffy :)
"How Does Your Garden Grow", liveoakwithmoss
(G) Maedhros/Fingon
This is fluffy and sweet, it's technically a shipfic but very light. High King Fingon "grubs about" in his royal vegetable garden. Tangentially Feanorian by way of Maedhros' presence.
Illegal Guardians/Kidnap Family: I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but here you go, on the off-chance you wanted some Maedhros & Maglor co-parenting. "Bronze Ribbons and Copper Beads" by LadyBrooke
(G) Maedhros, Maglor, Elrond, Elros
"With Maglor delayed by a snow storm, Elrond and Elros decided this was as good a time as any to surprise Maedhros." Familial hair braiding.
"Children’s Games" by Torpi
(G) Maedhros, Maglor, Elrond, Elros Hide and seek, ghost stories, and riddles. This is on the bitter-sweet side, in the way that a parent tries to shield their children from everything sad but isn't always successful.
"Come Home" by likethenight
(G) Maglor, Elrohir, Elrond Elrohir brings Maglor home to Rivendell

Apologies, but is there an updated version of this? It appears to me that the links for the Silm etc. aren't working anymore?
Hi anon!
No, I haven't made an updated version of that post that I made three and a half years ago, and as you say, two of the links seem to be dead now 😐 If someone else has a more up-to-date similar post, I'm not aware of it (but if someone who sees this knows of one, please reply and share the link!)
A quick googling found the full text of The Silmarillion here under the page (actually chapter) links.
I'll see later this week if I have time to make a new version of the post as it seems to be something people find useful since it's still getting notes - and this ask 🙂
Thank you for bringing it to my attention, anon!

First Lines
Thank you, @spiced-wine-fic!
If I've understood the rules right, it's the first lines from my ten most recent fics, and see if there's any patterns. Here we go...
To Whatever End
“It…he says there are others like him, across the Sea.”
Dancing In the Dark
Curufinwë hated these visits.
Couldn't Drag Me Away
Elrond heard the music well before he entered his daughter’s library sanctuary.
Drunken Lullabies
It had been a terrible day.
Echoes By The Water
Círdan is too old to show that he is startled, but he had not expected that Elrond’s middle daughter could keep so still.
Busted
Elwing woke early, and wondered why she had.
Return
Anairë looked up in astonishment when the door burst open.
Looking Forward
Rilmë was surprised when Yúlon turned up first thing in the morning.
Patience Is A Virtue
Carnistir poured the tea with the same precision he would stitch a seam, Elenwë reflected.
Pure As the Driven Snow*
Finnick knew there was something about the District 12 girl from the second the cameras found her face.
Daddy's Girl
Elrond cast his mind about for his daughter.
*not Tolkien - this one's a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes compliant Hunger Games fic.
Pattern... it looks like I tend to establish right out of the gate who we're dealing with?
I think I am one of the last tagged on this... tagging @cycas, @hhimring, @jane-ways, @elesianne, @idrilsscribe, @joyfullynervouscreator, @naryaflame, @cilil, @jaz-the-bard, and @starspray without any recollection whether or not you've already been tagged. Also, if there's anyone wanting in on this who hasn't been tagged yet - go for it! (If I tagged you, I don't think it's obligatory to link the works. I did because I've been particularly lousy at cross-posting of late.)

Favourite works of 2020
Thank you very much @elesianne and @amethysttribble for taggin me in this!
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
It was really tough to choose favourite things i’ve made this year, tbh. For me, this year was not so much about any individual works, as about how much my skills have grown overall and how much better i am as an artist compared to where i was in the beginning of the year. (also it felt like a whole ass decade and i don’t even remember what it was that i painted in, say, March)
That being said, here r some works I happen to be more proud of then the others:
1) Maedhros, Celegorm and Huan by the fire
This one is gonna be the oldest work on this list, probably. It was lots of first times, this art. First time drawing armor, first time (for a long time) drawing a dog, first time (for a long time) planning a full scene. I’ve spent so much time on it, put so many little details, braved so many challenges, that i guess it simply couldn’t not have a very special place in my heart, even if I am now acutely aware about all the flaws and mistakes it has.
2) Palette challenge Sauron
The thing wth this one is that i actually painted it twice: first time to try this whole palette thing out and then second cause i thought it looked too simple and boring. I don’t work with a limited color sceme very often, me being me and liking my freedom a bit too much (and indeed i ended up adding a darker shade in this one too for the sake of contrast), but this was really fun and i like how the mood turned out. Feel like those colours ended up being weirdly fitting, despite how rarelly they r actually used for Sauron
3) Valinorean Russingon piece
This one has pretty simple composition and i only vaguelly knew what I was going for here, but i love it. Like, really love it. I love how bright and sort of golden the light looks. I love how it works with Maitimo’s hair. I love how unified in colours it feels. And I love these boys to an unreasonable degree so that just might be a part of the reason i’m so attache to this work
4) Himring the ink thingy
I like working with traditional materials a lot and i don’t do it nearly enough. The other thing i don’t do nearly enough is buildings and landscapes. This little thing contains all of the above and, all things considered, looks pretty decent. I should probably make more works like this
5) Findis for the silm portrait collection
Honaestly, i kinda like the whole series a lot. I like drawing portraits and i’m trying to get better in character design and textures, even tho these r mostly about faces. And i like the variety of different textures that r happening here. Espesially hair. All curls r a nightmare. Also being gay for my own female character designs is now a thing, apparently
There’s also a bunch of stuff i kinda liked but never posted, for one reason or the other, so i just gonna dump it here, as honorable mentions
+1
Varda from that one time i got drunk and designed all the valar in one sit
Tumblr media
+2
some random orc sketch
Tumblr media
+3
unnamed elven dude i’ve drawn while practicing painting without sketch
Tumblr media
Not sure if some of u was tagged already, but i’m gonna tag @toastedbuckwheat @moryo--stan @russingon @maglorious @cosmicgong @foxleycrow @sessenaa @mavariel @gloomy-makes-art @ziraeldraws @astronymus and everyone who wants to. As always, feel free to ignore completely.

January 2021 Fic List (Part 1):
Here’s the first installment of the project I mentioned earlier today.  The goal of this project is to collect the fics that I’ve read over the month and post the links here.  I want to give our content creators some appreciation, showcase their content, and increase the foot traffic on their works.
I’ve provided links to the fics and to the authors’ ao3 pages; the quotes are generally taken from the summaries.  I have listed rating and wordcount but I have not added tags as the works are tagged individually.
All works below the cut because the list has grown quite long!
Part 2
Part 3
Tumblr media
“Studies in Session” by Tyelperintal
Maedhros/Fingon (M) (2266 words)
“Findekáno cannot reach a book on a high shelf. This necessitates Maitimo following him to an unused corner of the library”
“Of Like Kind” by Sath

“Love Me Tender, Love Me Fierce” by joanofarcstan
Caranthir/Finrod (E) (2805 words)
“These are momentous words. Of course Finrod trusts Caranthir, has trusted him since the beginning, but these two pairs of question and answer—I have you / I know; trust me / I do—have become a sort of ritual between them”
“Heart and Head” by bunn
Celegorm & Nimloth (G) (1391 words)
“In a far-off land West of the Moon, East of the Sun, Nimloth of Doriath and Celegorm go roaming in pursuit of dragonflies, but it's not quite as easy to think only of the interests they share as Nimloth would like.”

Maedhros/Fingon (M) (1189 words)
“The question — because it is a question, as though Maedhros is unsure not only if his request will be granted, but also if he should have made it at all — asked in the quietest of whispers, pierces Fingon's heart like a dagger.”
“Our Defiance Redeems Us” by joanofarcstan
Gil-Galad | Finduilas (Fin-Galad AU) & Elendil  (T) (967 words)
“A good death, if such a thing exists; an honourable one if not. And if such a thing still does not exist, then a defiant death—that is just as good. I will die on my feet, spitting blood and curses at the Enemy, not kneeling and waiting meekly for the blade to fall. The Last Alliance will fight, not because they are sure to win or because there will be glory there or because there are oaths to bind them; but because it is right.”
“The Sanctity of Love” by joanofarcstan
Finrod/Ulmo (E) (3536 words)
“In a world where snakes devour their own tails, traitors their own protectors, and cities their own kings, all comes full circle: from hoping first because you can and then because you must, to Tol Sirion reclaiming her priest and setting his sacrifice into the very soul of her earth, to our heroes finding themselves in each other's arms at the end as in the beginning.”

My art for @elesianne‘s absolutely charming character Tuilindien!
Tuilindien is a Vanyarin scholar and when she and Caranthir meet and fall in love when she is visiting Tirion, no one is more surprised about it than they themselves are – except Fëanor, who isn't pleased at all. Caranthir can be just as stubborn as his father, though, and refuses to stop courting Tuilindien.
In addition to being of different peoples, Caranthir and Tuilindien have many other differences, as she is gentler and more patient by nature. But because they feel deeply connected from the start, they work hard to overcome their differences and to reach compromises. They do have some things in common, such as being very close with their families and their shared love of cats, and while their courtship goes far from smoothly, they do eventually marry. They have some happy years together before the unrest of the Noldor makes finding common ground harder than ever.
I have several stories planned about Caranthir and Tuilindien for my Fëanorian marriages series, but at the moment I'm still working on their rather long courtship story, Your spirit calling out to mine.
