Orion as my lab partner because he would actually do the work while also being fun to be around. I would also just love to befriend him in general if he were a real person. I don't think Kaz or Benedikt would be bad to have as a lab partner either, even though the idea of Kaz as a real person is unilaterally terrifying. Orion would definitely be more fun though.

I would get trapped in an elevator with Benedikt because I feel like he is the best worst option for this. I think being stuck with him would force me to not freak out because he would be freaking out, so I would just try to unleash my inner Oliver or something idk. Also I would not subject Kaz to being in a small enclosed space for 10 hours, and I think I would kill Orion if I were stuck in a small enclosed space with him for 10 hours.

I would absolutely want Kaz to be my employee trainer at McDonalds, especially if I got to watch him do customer service because I think it would be funny but also absolutely terrifying. Definitely an experience I would carry with me for the rest of my life. This would also be fun with Orion. And I love Benedikt, but I do not think this would be fun with him.

fuck, marry, kill but instead it’s get them randomly assigned as your lab partner for a whole semester, get trapped with them on a broken elevator for ten hours, and they’re your employee trainer for your new job at McDonalds

ohhh boy. gotta tackle murderbot first because the other two will be less complicated. i think i have to come at this one from a slightly different angle - not identifying which thing i would least hate having to do with murderbot but rather which thing i think murderbot would least hate having to do with me.

at first i was thinking the elevator situation would be the worst thing for murderbot to have to endure, because i worry about it interpreting any anxiety response i would be having about being trapped in an elevator as anxiety about murderbot itself. that would be highly unfortunate. but there is a best-case scenario here where mb is just like "hey, do you want to watch media?" and it projects some ridiculous show onto the wall and we just do that in peace for ten hours.

lab partner or mcdonald's trainee would both be very boring for murderbot. i honestly think the elevator scenario might be the least of the three evils. there's also the possibility that i would just be chilling in the elevator and not having an anxiety response at all (you never know), in which case mb, who can read my vitals and also can scan me for weapons, might not feel all that threatened by my presence and could just watch media by itself, which is one of its favorite activities.

so let's put mb down for the elevator. that leaves lab partner and mcdonald's trainer. i think ratthi would be a great lab partner. he's enthusiastic about science in what i imagine to be an inclusive and infectious way. that could be fun, even! gurathin would just be stoically competent and i'd probably get some sort of complex about whether he secretly thought i was an idiot because i wouldn't immediately know how to do everything. he probably wouldn't be thinking that at all, but i wouldn't be able to tell.

gurathin could train me at mcdonald's no problem. i doubt he'd be much help on the customer service side of things, but that's okay, i can draw on past experience. it can also be a plus to have a taciturn coworker in service jobs under specific circumstances...like i would never have to worry about him flirting with the customers when the line is already backed up out the door. he'd be focused on efficiency, which i am totally on board with.

also, gurathin is ride or die but in this really quiet way where if you do manage to become someone he would drop everything to help, you can feel really special about it. idk if i would be able to inspire that kind of bond as his mcdonald's trainee, but service labor is a crucible heightening the drama of any situation, and if i did manage it, it would mean more coming from him than from ratthi. ratthi would do that for anyone, but if gurathin does it, you know you must really be important to him.

Okay listen, I’ve thought about this a lot specifically with those 3 because they’re my babies and here is the definitive answer.

Lab partner: Kim. Kimmy. Kimberly no middle name Wexler. My beautiful wonderful hypercompetent Kim who will help me finish the lab exercise in 2 hours flat and we can all go home and sleep. Having a bad lab partner can ruin your entire semester, so I’m 100% going with the amazing ultra Type A Kim here.

Stuck in an elevator: Regina. There would be snark and less danger of damage since her powers aren’t water based so the electricity is less likely to be fried. Plus she’ll be salty with me about the indignity.

Work trainer at McDonald’s: Pepa. She takes no shit, she’ll teach me all the tricks on how to get the job done with the least amount of effort, and how to get asshole customers and managers off my back.
