About the sisi series that is about to come out on Netflix will never beat the three German movies that were shown every Christmas because they actually managed to portray Hungary pretty accurately in my opinion
OG SISI MOVIES FOR LIFE FAM😩👌👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
For real I noticed when the actual nations/people/groups make a historical media piece ypu know thag 90% of the movie gonna be accurage and well written and will pop because they know what they working with. Netflix, I think has zero connetcion or undestanding of this part of the history and they will mold it for their liking and the liking of western media which I'm so sick of. In my opinion they butchered The Witcher series as well, it lost it's own, specific nature and feeling of a slavic story, it got westernized and I fear The Empress will have this very same fate.
The natore of Austia's and Hungary's relation is very complex, and at that time - when the series will play out- you cannot pick a good or bad side, both of them had their own priorities. (Tho Hungary had the right to voice their problems and worries). It was a dualist monarchy, with pros and cons on both sides, but of course becahse the ruling Monarch were the Habsburgs of course they had a bigger say in things. All in all, it's not just black and white, i really hope they won't do the "Good Habsburgs they just want unity and peace" vs "Bad hungarian rebels, they want chaos and they hate the monarchy" because this is a delicate and im fact interesting historical time that needs to be explained and play out as accurately as it was.
Anyway Sziszi a magyarok királynéja my beloved

I know The Empress deviates heavily from history but the lack of pregnancy side plot just doesn't make sense when one knows that Elisabeth and Franz got married on April 25th, 1854 and their first child was born just 11 or rather 10 months later on March 5th, 1855. It only took them at max one to two months to get pregnant, depending on in which week of pregnancy little Sophie was born.

Abandoned
How was I once so young and rich
Of joie de vivre and hope;
I didn't think anything of power was like me,
The world was still open to me.
I loved, I lived,
I've been all over the world. But never achieved what I strive for.
I cheated and I was cheated.
- poem by Sissi (Gödöllö 1886)
(the photo shows a different poem written by her)
