The French Government back with their French supremacy 🤦
(23rd September 2022)
The French Government has sued the Town Council of Elna (a small town in Northern Catalonia) because they allow the city officials to read in the Catalan language (which is the local language of Elna!) in the meetings.
According to French law, only French is allowed to be used in public occasions, even in the areas that France annexed but who have an indigenous language of their own, such as Northern Catalonia, which was annexed by France in 1659 against the local people's will.
The first thing that France did after annexing Northern Catalonia was to forbid the use of the Catalan language in public and only allow French, even though its inhabitants didn't speak French.
I explained the brutal repression of the Catalan language at the hands of France in this previous post. Summing up, France has spent centuries trying to exterminate the languages and cultures of the peoples it occupied and impose on them the French language. They have done this through humiliation and violence, especially targeted at children. Well until the late 20th century, schools beat children who were heard (or who someone reported to having heard) saying a word in Catalan, and they were punished through humiliation of having to wear a symbol of shame for the "crime" of speaking their mother tongue.
Even nowadays, public schools in Northern Catalonia are not allowed to use the Catalan language in teaching, they have to use French. Children cannot be named with Catalan names with letters that aren't in French (for example, common names like Martí or Lídia cannot be used because French doesn't have "í"). There is no public media such as a permanent TV channel in Catalan. Signs are only in French. Basically, France bans its use in any space so that the language will have no place to exist and will die.
The town council of Elna passed a law according to which the representatives of the town council could read their interventions in Catalan at the meetings, with the condition that immediately after having intervened in Catalan they read the same text in French.
This doesn't violate French's rights (in fact, it's Catalan speakers who are being discriminated for having to do twice as much work and thus being disincentivized to use their language), because everything would still be in French. But France cannot stand that our languages are still alive, so they will go to trial to punish the town council of an 8,000 inhabitants town.
The mayor of Elna, Nicolas Garcia, received the trial notification this morning and reaffirmed his conviction to fight for the rights of its citizens to use their language in this space:

Translation: We will go to trial and we will win! The Town of Elna has been called before a judge for having allowed to read the official acts also in Catalan. Poor French Republic!

Elna was more than happy, she was overjoyed. The King had chosen her for a bride and announced that during a small council meeting, she was not in attendance but her father was there. He came running to her to inform her of the King's decision. Her father was happy for her but he only showed her his sorrow of having to be separated, even little Cregan threw a tantrum.
Elna however needed to breathe a little, she needed to get her thoughts straight. She liked the king, he was nice to her and she was happy she would not end up with a dying man however this was all too much for her, she was going to be Queen, that was a huge responsibility. So Elna decided to take a walk in the gardens after she successfully put Cregan down for his nap.
She enjoyed the sight that greeted her, a sight she was going to see for a very long time, the gardens looked like they were alive with so many flowers and trees, something she did not see back at home. She no longer needed to pick flowers from the southern regions when visiting because she was going to have it all here.
Elna had walked for a short time when she caught sight of a weirwood tree. She knew they had one here but she did not know the location, but now she knew where to go to pray. She was a couple of steps away still hidden behind a bush when she saw princess Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower sat under the tree. The princess was pulling on the grass looking angry while the Hightower girl looked relieved.
"I cannot believe he wants to marry so soon after mother's death. Has he no respect?" Rhaenyra threw some of the grass in her hands somewhere by her feet. Elna's heart dropped at the words, she did not think the princess would be so angry with the marriage, she had been so caught up with her own family and the king to think of the princess.
"Princess, your father has the right to remarry" Alicent tried calming down the dragon princess.
"To a northerner savage, out of everyone" The princess pushed herself up from the floor and started pacing. The Hightower girl remained seated but started twiddling with her thumbs.
"I am sure Lady Stark is not so bad, I have heard many great things about her" Alicent defended Elna. She was just glad she had not been chosen.
"Yes and she will give my father sons and then I will be thrown away when I am no longer heir" The princess hissed. Elna now understood that the princess was not only enraged and sad over her father's decision but also afraid.
Elna decided that hiding was no longer an option, she had too much to say. She faked a cough putting on a smile and moved out from behind the bush. She acted shocked seeing the two girls only a couple of years her junior.
"Forgive me princess, I did not know you were here" Elna curtsied trying to keep her smile gentle. She did not want to anger the princess even more.
"What are you doing here?" Rhaenyra asked with anger lacing her words. She crossed her arms in front of her protectively.
"I heard there was a weirdwood tree and wished to pray" Elna answered. She stepped closer to the duo. Alicent had pushed herself to her feet by then and stepped closer the princess. Rhaenyra eyed her weirdly, she had no escort, not even a handmaiden.
"I am gladdened to have found you here, I intended on visiting you princess" Elna continued before the princess could speak. Rhaenyra's eyebrows shot up in confusion and shock.
"Visit me? What for?" The princess asked suspiciously. Elna found her palms growing wet with sweat, she was nervous with the way the princes was seizing her up and down like some criminal.
"I am sure you have heard of the King's decision-" Elna started. She took a deep breath to summon every single piece of bravery she had in her body and stepped closer to the princess.
"- I wanted to tell you that I do not intend to take your mother's place neither in your life nor the king's or int he kingdom-" Elna reached over to grab the princess' hand in hers gently, not wanting to startle her or make her think she was here to attack her.
"- if you wish I will not even show you my face if that makes you feel at ease but I assure you princess that if I and the king were to be blessed with children you would still be a priority to us both and the heir will remain to be you" Elna finished. Alicent took a step back giving the two women their moment. But the shock on her face was still evident.
"You could never take my mother's place, you are nothing compared to her, so do not attempt to win me over with your words, that will not work on me" The princess pulled her hands out of Elna's hands harshly and pushed past her to walk away. Elna stumbled a little back when Rhaenyra's shoulder collided with hers.
"Apologies Lady Stark, the princess is a little stressed" Alicent picked up the hem of her dress and followed after the princess. Elna rubbed her shoulder as her eyes darted back to the red tree. Her eyes welled up with tears, feeling humiliated at being rejected but pushed them back.
She stepped closer to the tree kneeling down by one of the roots. Her hands glided over the rough surface remembering her mother. Her mother always told her to have patience, Elna believed that she had patience, she raised her brother from the moment he was born and her mother died. But the princess seemed nowhere near close to warming up to her.
Elna wished her mother was here to advice her on what to do and how to act. If she were to tell her father he would simply tell her to endure it and Elna knew that was not the right way to face the situation, yes the princess needed time but at the same time Elna needed to do something to win the princess' favour. She did not come to the capital to make enemies.
"Lady Stark" Elna jumped at the new male voice. She turned around to find the King standing where she had stood earlier with his hands behind his back.
"Your grace" She stood back up to her feet and curtsied. The King stepped closer to her loosing his smile at the sight of her tears.
"Why are you crying, Lady Stark?" He placed his forefinger under her chin and raised her head up so she would look at him. Elna knitted her eyebrows in confusion and raised her hand to touch her cheek to find it wet and immediately wiped the tears away.
"I had not noticed" She admitted. She gulped trying to compose herself.
"Did the thought of marrying me repulse so?" The King joked. She shook her head with a small giggle.
"Of course not, I just - I wish my mother was here tis all, your grace" She heaved a sigh. The king placed a hand on her cheek trying to comfort her.
"I am sure she is happy for her wherever she may be" The king's words made Elna's heart flutter. She smiled, just a tiny smile, but it was enough for the king.
"Your words comfort me, my king" She placed a hand on top of his over her cheek. The King clicked his tongue disappointed.
"Call me Viserys" He grinned when her cheeks darkened and she dropped her gaze down. His eyes trailed over to the tree when a thought struck him.
"Do you wish to marry here? In the ways of your people?" He asked. He grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to the tree.
"What about the maesters and the seven and the people?" She asked feeling dumb when she realised that she knew nothing of this religion, her father did not spare this religion a second thought and refused to teach her and Cregan about it. She knew only from what she had heard from other people.
"I am the King" He reminded her. her mouth opened in an O shape and nodded her head. Viserys chuckled tightening his grip on her hand when something caught his eye, the history book of Aegon the conquerer.
"Do tell me Lady Stark, was there a different reason for your tears?" The King asked. He let go of her hand to grab the book delicately to not damage the old pages.
"No, why, my king- Viserys" She paused when he turned to glare at her and immediately changed the way she addressed him.
"I wonder-" He held up the book to show her. She tilted her head to the side confused.
"It was my daughter, was it not?" He asked. His eyebrows twitched into a frown of his own.
"The princess? no she welcomed me warmly" Elna tried to cover up. She did not come here to make enemies meaning she will not be the reason that a father and daughter fight each other. She could not bare it.
"Do not lie to me" The King demanded. Elna swallowed the lump in her throat and looked down at her feet. She could not lie to the King either, he was the king and her future husband.
"I will talk to her" He intended for his words to assure her but she only looked at him with horror.
"NO, I mean please do not mention this, she just needs time" Elna tried to stop him when he attempted to bypass her. The King was more than confused but nodded nonetheless.
"How about you show me the rose bush again?" She wrapped her arms around one of his and pulled him away from the weirwood tree. Viserys was not dumb, he knew she was changing the subject but did not mention it now curious how she was going to act to win his daughter over.
Tumblr media
It was the same day the King announced that a feast will be held to celebrate the betrothal between him and Elna. Her father insisted she wore a grey dress one last time before she would join house Targaryen and wear red and black for the rest of her days. She could not say no and wore her favourite grey dress that was off shoulder and had bell sleeves. She also made Cregan wear the same of grey matching with her.
When they arrived at the feast she was sat beside the king with her father on her other side and an empty seat beside the king for the princess. Cregan was sent to play with the other children of the nobles with his wet nurse to look after him.
"My King, the princess seems to be running late" The Hand of the King pointed out also noticing the lack of his own daughter's presence.
"She's going to be the end of me" Viserys replied. He had hoped she would come and not make a fuss of it but now he could see that she had not intention of showing her face at the feast also sparking he rumour of her not accepting the betrothal.
"If I may my king-" You spoke earning the attention of both men. The Hand glared at you heatedly as you moved your body closer to the king.
"-I can go and see if the princess is alright" You suggested. You gave a nod to Viserys wanting him to accept. The King was hesitant but accepted either way. You pushed your chair back and made your way out of the hall accepting congratulations with a sweet smile and grace in your movement.
You had to ask some guards for the way to the princess' room but finally found your way. You knocked on her door before stepping in. She was sat on her bed with a dress by her side. Alicent was sat beside her in a beautiful green dress and she looked ready for a feast while the princess looked like she was ready to go to bed.
"What are you doing here?" The princess asked, angrily standing on her feet to glare at you.
"Lady Hightower, if you do not mind, I wish to speak to the princess" You nodded at the door. Alicent was hesitant but moved closer to you. You moved to the side giving her space to pass before closing the door behind her.
"What do you want?" The princess asked harshly. You had to push back a wince at her tone but you lost the sweet smile on your face.
"Listen Princess, I know you view me as a horrible person, a monster here to steal your father and throne but I am not a monster and I will not steal either one" You moved closer to her. Your tone was stronger and your patience was wearing thin, even if it had been only a day.
"You are the princess and the heir and my father bent the knee to you in extension the north meaning I am loyal to you. A Stark has never broken and oath and I will be damned if I were to be the first" You leaned closer to her, and her eyes followed your every move, your fingers wrapped around the dress on the bed.
"You will wear this beautiful gown and you will come with me to the feast, your father is worried sick about you" You held out the dress to her. She took it from you but still watched you every move.
"I am not your enemy Princess, I wish only for us to become friends. I wish not for a rivalry to grow between you and my future children" The princess sighed sadly. She nodded her head accepting the words of Elna. She may have not warmed up to her but she was on the right path.
Rhaenyra changed her clothes before the women made their way back the feast. The king's face lit up at the sight of his daughter walking into the ballroom with Elna by her side. Rhaenyra was still stiff in her walk and when she sat down but at least she had a tiny smile on her face, and that was good enough for now.

most unhinged way to connect the world of elna and the world of spyre: the elves are the same, and efink was the elven oracle before eleminthindriel, who preceded adaine. think about it. fallinel is a parody of valinor and the undying lands, where elna is middle earth, and spyre is the evolution after the age of evil and the reign of leiland jr. technically we’ve only seen one continent of the world of spyre. elna could be on the other side. or the place could have just reorganized.
kei lumennura is kind of the thing this hinges on, since it kind of functions as a horny teen lothlorien. hallariel is celebrían if she married a pirate and then a tragically unlucky vice principal. there’s a ton of references to elven nonsense in fallinel. it just makes sense.
speaking of pirates, think about markus st. vincent and the sky kingdom of cael stuppe/kaelstoop. feels like a fun way to lead to a pirate city floating on the waters of the celestine.
ok wait i’m contextualizing this further: solace was a nation of halflings before it was settled by highcourt. need i remind anyone of ruckland? galfast hamhead’s energy tracks with the halflings of solace, which is a group that includes both the anarcho-socialist cubby family, and the luckstones, most notably penny. working class halflings are an established thread.
also deeply funny to imagine the gukgaks as descendants of the goblins of gorgar. with all the new arcanotech, who’s to say riz isn’t rigged to explode.
obviously eftbk and fantasy high are not happening at the same time. but really, we’ve been given info on <1000 years of spyre’s history. there’s time before that for the rise and fall and rise again of the evil kingdom of gorgar, that’s run by a set of evil coworkers. kalvaxus who. if you go by ages/eras, the reign of leiland jr over gorgar could mark the fourth age, which eventually culminated in the destruction of the goddess of sylvaire, and with the rise of the nightmare king began the fifth age, assuming we’re paralleling lotr.
also imagine arthur aguefort interacting with any of the vile villains. just any of them.

Ep 48 Pt 1: Just Me Thinking too Much About the Shape of Obelisk's Ass
Got swamped by work stuff and sick stuff pushing my stupid fatigue to 11 but hell I need to write about Yugioooooh.
Tumblr media
Last we left off, Isis and Shimon died in order to get Pharaoh back the puzzle so he could pull out the spicy god cards.
Tumblr media
And I need to discuss butt plate.
(read more about Obelisk's ass under the cut)
I know that Obelisk probably never does a big sitty at any point of his day, but considering I have chronic fatigue now and I just big sitty all the time, I think about sitting a LOT. Like a LOT.
Anywhere this man sits down is destroyed. Like anywhere. He's got a gardening hoe for a rear end. This man could kill you with his butt in a way that's just way more devastating than his fists.
Why does this exist? Like have we EVER seen the back of a god card before? Like ever? It's fascinating, and parts of me wonder if whoever was doing this episode started sweating bullets when they realized "Does Obelisk have a butt? And how chiseled is the butt? I'm very concerned like, does he even wear pants? How cheeks are these cheeks?"
And like was the solution between if Obelisk would have a bubble butt or a flat butt to instead put a giant knife on his ass to cover it up? because I can respect it. It's a weird character design decision but so is this entire show.
Tumblr media
And the character design is about to get a little weirder his episode because Yugioh reminded us that fusion exists.
Bakura is true to his word, and so we say "so long" to the theatrical pocket universe where these two yell asides at eachother across the DM table. We will go back to the isekai where Bakura will now become Zorc for the rest of the show.
Does the show give Zorc a British accent, do you ask?
No.
And I'm as confused and disappointed as you are. Alexander the Freakin Great had a British accent. But Obelisk? Absolutely not. Would not make sense. Who would do that?
Tumblr media
Now in case you forgot, because I only do like one of these a month, Seto was left behind at the castle courtyard because Yami did not give him a ride to Kul Elna. You may be asking, isn't the...castle courtyard in the capital? Like right in front of us? Like why would Seto be in the desert?
I don't know.
Maybe that was not the capital where Sad Seto watched his not-wife die? Maybe that was somewhere else? Geography in Yugioh is such a mobius strip I've sort of gotten used to this.
Anyway, Seto is in the desert, and it may have been something we found out and I forgot because my fatigue is kicking my ass but like...I'll accept it because it's very funny to me that he's hiking around sand in that outfit, comes over a dune, and just sees those God card he REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted 4 seasons ago but lost to Yugi Muto just mocking him up there in the sky.
Tumblr media
Also Seto believes in magic now. It was a very abrupt thing but it had to happen eventually. Better late than never, I guess.
Tumblr media
And then the Egyptian Gods freakin biffed it.
Tumblr media
Isis and Shimon would be shaking their heads about how they died for freakin nothing from their afterlife plane, if any of this were in fact actually happening and not a weird simulation in Yami Muto's mind that is in a puzzle wired to Yugi Muto's brain.
Speaking of which, back at Yami's tomb, Yugi is having a meltdown.
Tumblr media
It's part of his creative process, having a meltdown. Yugi would have massive creative block without his routine. That's just world building.
Tumblr media
Yami is also going through his spin cycle, now that the moon blocked out the sun and we don't have any way to fix that.
Except we actually do have away to fix that, we used it in Season 1 when we went up against Mako Tsunami (don't ask me how I remember that random fact but don't remember what I ate for breakfast) but the problem with the ancient Egyptian version of this card game is you can really only summon like 1-3 cards at a time. So, they're boned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now it's Seto's turn to fix Yami's problems, which like, wouldn't be the first time, wouldn't it?
Problem is, this Seto is just SO BAD at cards.
Tumblr media
I really should've put the towel on this shot ps but like...I got tired. I got a bad fatigue week, so we're gonna go au naturale with this episode.
Now one of y'all did a fancy reblog and showed how Zorc looked in the Japanese version which can I say--is SPICY. Like the US version tried to connect the neck more with the neck of the dragon, so it's like a tummy dragon instead of peen but it uh...doesn't work from this angle, does it?
I'm just still reeling about how there is a dragon dick and it aired on kid's tv and they fully got away with it.
Tumblr media
EGYPTIAN ROLAND SIGHTED.
We love Roland.
I'd recognize that bad stache anywhere. Just because you don't got glasses on doesn't mean we don't know you got a Roland doo under that headwrap.
Bless this man.
Also, Roland is shredded? I'm just gonna leave that there.
Tumblr media
And that ends this segment. With the way we do image blocks...I uh will have to end it here. I can't have like more than 30 blocks total? And we're at 15 images? I don't know if it's adding text blocks to image blocks in that addition? I'm not sure how this new post system works so I'll just cut it here anywho.
Until then I'm going to go lay down prone on the ground like Yami muto in the image above. Kinda jealous of him rn not going to lie.
https://steve0discusses.tumblr.com/tagged/yugioh/chrono
(and for those who just got here, you can read these caps all in chronological order by using this link right here. Assuming it's the right link. With the new Tumblr post thingy, it has been randomly removing /chrono from the end of my link? Which sucks? anyway, hopefully it works.

Solar Plexus Chakra & Millennium Ring
Today, I'll take you on a wild esoteric journey concerning chakras and their influence on the Millennium Items!
We'll start on the Millennium Ring here and the two (three?) souls tied to it, namely Ryou Bakura and Yami Bakura (and the Thief King, should you consider the ring spirit as a separate entity, as I usually do).
First and foremost, we'll dive into a concept that has been long since a centrum of Hinduism and Buddhism and has become more relevant again due to yoga and some esoterical views and writings, exactly chakras.
A few of you probably know about them already (from AtlA for example) but for those of you, who are unaware, chakras are believed to be focal points in your body, that are subtly or not so subtly able to influence your health and general mental well-being.
Chakras run along the length of your spine up towards the very top of your head, like so:
Tumblr media
The chakra we're looking at today is the "Solar Plexus chakra" which is placed right below the chest, where the torso goes over into the stomach area slowly.
Or THIS area right here:
Tumblr media
or, you guessed it, right about here:
Tumblr media
So, while our Millennium Ring is wildly chaotically changing in rope length during Manga and Anime, it is at least often shown and through the tablet represented in an area around chest and stomach, right above the 3rd or solar plexus chakra.
What does that mean for our characters though?
As I have written earlier, the chakra influences the mental and physical state and allrogether well-being of our character.
It represents, in the human body POWER, SELF-CONTROL, WILL, VITALITY, PURPOSE and DIRECTION.
It is also firmly connotated as a FIRE elemental.
When the chakra is imbalanced, aka too powerful compared to the others, it can cause you to become DOMINANT, BLAMING, SCATTERED and constantly active, so pretty much RESTLESS.
Huh, weird. Characteristics, we have very much seen in both Thief King and Yami Bakura over the course of the series.
What happens, when the influence of the chakra is weaker imbalanced then, or even deficient?
It may well cause WEAK WILLEDNESS, POOR SELF-ESTEEM, EXAGGERATED PASSIVENESS, the feeling of SLUGGISHNESS and alltogether FEARFULNESS.
Weirdly accurate descriptions of what Ryou Bakura has to face during his possession of the Item.
What tends to block your healthy usage of this chakra is the most heartbreaking though.
SHAME. Created due to trauma, stored emotions or learned patterns.
Both Thief King and Ryou Bakura are ashame about having been to weak/unable to help their loved ones, they just 'resolve' their struggles with this on the exactly opposite exaggerated spectrum. While the Thief overacts the chakra, Ryou completely blocks and underwhelms it.
The only way to recover balance and control over this chakra and 'unblock' it is Self-Assertation and Self-Compassion, sadly both characters throughout the series fail spectacularly at recovering their ground concerning this issue.
It is no wonder that Yami Bakura speaks of himself as "Ore-sama" and it's also no wonder that Ryou doesn't seem to find a strong footing in a friend group!
The moment's when Ryou does assert himself are glorious powerhouse movements and in my eyes, it's not even weird that he triumphs over Bakura in those moments!
Tumblr media
Following this knowledge, it is no wonder that the spirits of the Kul Elna villagers chose the Millennium Ring as a dwelling place and it is no wonder that the Thief ended up there with them.
It is the most balancing and vital chakra of your body and a lot of religions believe that the stomach houses the soul, not your chest or the heart!
They aren't interested in spiritual power, the raw need to survive inside something to simply cling to vitality and the last shreds of life conducted them directly into the stomach area, towards the Solar Plexus chakra, directly into the Millennium Ring, sitting over the most influxing power source of the whole body.
THIS WAS A LOT TO TYPE ON PHONE!!
I hope you enjoyed it!! :3

The Dark One
Tumblr media
"O Dark One who comest forth from the darkness: not have I reviled." -Pert em Heru, Declaration of the 42 Gods
In this universe, Zorku was the Kul Elna god of darkness, death, time, memory and destruction. Which makes it all the more ironic since the village was destroyed. Worshipped in secret, revered by more and more as time went on and lives became harder to live.
Proper offerings: Blood, red or raw meat, frankincense, red wine, Egyptian beer, gold.
Titles: The Dark One, Father of Fiends, Maker of the Dark World
Creation: Many tens of thousands of years ago. Created from the darkness of the hearts of not only men, but the other gods as well. So compared to them, he's a younger god, hence the massive amounts of hubris. He also made the Spellbook at some point.
Roles: One of the 42 gods who judged the heart during the Weighing of the Heart ceremony. There's been quite a few times he's gone problematic for the other gods, much like Sutekh (Set), though. He can feed off of negative energies, especially of those who give in to their anger and resentment.
The gods were not necessarily viewed under the lens of good or evil, but rather ma'at and isfet (chaos). Likewise for Zorku.
Ancient Appearance: Shape-shifting was normal for him. He could appear as the demon with the draconic phallus, a dragon-like form (think black dragons of DnD), or a human-like appearance with dark purple hair and the usual horns dressed in the clothing of the gods. Before imprisonment in the Items especially, he'd take whatever form he saw fit to get what he wanted from humans.
Modern Appearance: He can have horns. Two long and straight at the top of his head, two curved forward at the sides of his head. In times when he desires to, can also have dark wings and a long, draconic tail. Zorku can hide away these things at will and often just looks like he did as Yami no Bakura. This form WAS NOT a choice, he was sent back this way. He will still also answer to 'Bakura,' though, or to Zork. His hair is longer than Ryo's, extending down to his tail bone. Zorku's eyes are dark red. He possesses sharp canines and longer, dark nails. The fiend wears black and darker colors, and has his ears guaged or pierced.
Errata:
1: Was imprisoned in the Duat after losing to Atemu in the Ultimate RPG. This universe takes place six years later.    —-The Duat isn’t just the underworld, it’s where the gods lived. As such, Zorku will at times go there or to the realm he created of the shadows. Six years after he was imprisoned, he was released by Ryo and Malik. Since Ryo was the one who offered lifeblood, this is the way 'Bakura' looks.
2: He doesn’t have all of his powers as of yet. Or they are simply restricted. He is not an all-powerful god like he used to be since he's serving punishment for a time thanks to the other gods. However, he can still:   -Steal souls, seal souls away, manipulate shadows, summon shadow creatures [his minions], manipulate objects.
3: There's a holiday of his during the darkest night of the year where he attains full power...for that evening only. He's still capped thanks to the gods so he can't annihilate the world right off.
4: The Items are still buried in this timeline. For now. However, if another character that interacts with him still has one, of course he's going to find it of interest. So be warned.
5: In this timeline, he is one of the 42 gods. “O Dark One who comest forth from the Darkness: Not have I reviled.” The 42 gods were in the Hall of Two Truths, and the Negative Confessions were meant to keep the gods from punishing the deceased for a specific sin. Zorku will find people who revile, so to speak, as a main target. He was originally summoned into the world by someone who reviled (Aknaden), and attached himself to another who also reviled as the official First Host (Thief King Bakura).
Who He is: (tldr)
I: The Spirit of the Ring in essence and body, but Zorku stripped of his most powerful assets. He is stuck in a humanesque form with only his basest abilities, and he is NOT happy about it. So he can still pursue another universe and their Items in hopes of gaining all of it back. But he isn’t really obsessed about doing it like he was the first time. Gods and such. Divine punishment.
II: He is still a smart ass. Sarcastic, sadistic and cruel when he wants to be.
III: Still has the figurines and he uses them and collects the souls in them. He found the figurines quite useful in his time stuck in a human vessel.
Relationships:
I: Orientation in relationships is quite different. In the Ancient Egyptian Ennead, most of the deities were formed based on concepts such as light, darkness, air, etc. Zorku, being of the darkness variety [Like the god Kuk and his female concept Kauket], he is also androgynous. Able to be either gender depending on what he wants to achieve. However, Zorku associates more with the male side.
II: Will not bend to even a lover’s whim if he doesn’t want to. He’s quite the hard ass. No pun intended. Sometimes even the ‘human’ act of mating to him seems rather dull. However, he will with the right person and can be known to use most mortals as simply that- pawns for their energy, no romance attached.

Thoughts on Atem and his dad?
Tumblr media
look at my adorable baby son with his father and his father's historically inaccurate beard.
I flipped through the manga again (i forgot everything that happened in the anime so I'm going to ignore it) and i think there's some dutiful hero worship going on from atem - he barely remembers akhenamkhanen, but who he DOES remember looms large and noble in his memory; shimun also reassures him that akhenamkhanen was a good and strong pharaoh who loved his country and fought for peace. When TKB shows up, atem wants to desperately understand why his dad would've made items as evil as the millennium items. TWEEST! he didn't and his hands are clean and his saintly image is preserved in the eyes of his son.
So i think akhenamkhanen got off easy, narratively - the millennium items aren't actually his fault, they're akunadin's idea!! And when he found out about them, he was so horrified and sickened he died! Which, to be fair, is fine. not everything needs a knife twist of complexity; in a fictional story, especially a fantasy, some people can just be Good Guys.
But as usual with Atem I think a story about him confronting a legacy of violence and its consequences could've been more interesting than "dw, your dad was a good guy" - forcing him to consider what the millennium items actually mean and the true (murderous) cost of their power, in the veins of a classic "sins of the father" story. Everyone around him tells him his dad was a great guy, and in the end... his dad was kind of a great guy. BUT WHAT IF HE WASN'T. What if Atem had to reconsider his hero worship of his dad, and what it means to be a good king? Is it truly possible to be a good king if the kingdom is built on and maintained by the senseless murder of citizens? (It's not possible.) What would that mean for Atem? What choices would he have to make about himself and his role as pharaoh?
(There are a lot of things to say about how MW could've been an arc that grappled with abuses of power and assuming the burden of reparations/consequences/etc., and maybe it was supposed to, but in the end MW defaults to preserving the status quo and the autocratic reign of the pharaohs continues on and no one remembers the children of Kul Elna. blah. I don't blame KT because we know he was deeply sick and under intense pressure but MW is by far my least fav arc. 😞)
Other thoughts: I love the scene of Atem shoving TKB aside to cradle his father's dead body, i find it pretty moving... And I think this is the only line I've ever written about Akhenamkhanen.
“Let him speak,” Atem said, falling into his second glass, floundering in a puddle of beer and memories. The eternal two AM lights of an arcade. Incense in the temple. Classrooms at dusk, the air clouding with clapped erasers. His father had died a fool, crushed by the sickening knowledge of his own ignorance. “I care what he has to say.”

ryou and bakura making the Millennium World diorama together 🥺👉👈
(Alright folks buckle up we got angst incoming
This one is not au-verse, but kinda canon adjacent? Anyway, hope you like it!)
Ryou looked at the expanse of the table before him, noting a few areas that still needed work - paint, an extra piece. He wondered how it was possible that the table seemed even bigger now than it had been - between the two of them, taking turns in control, the model pieces, paints, and craft materials had transformed into an ancient city.
Nicely done, Landlord, Bakura quipped in the back of Ryou's mind. It was a genuine compliment, without a trace of rancor or sarcasm - so much so that it caught Ryou somewhat off guard.
"Thanks," he whispered, though it was late at night and there was no one in the museum to hear him ostensibly speaking to himself.
That part up there near the corner, Bakura directed, leading Ryou to train his gaze that direction. That part is important. Make sure everything looks good.
Ryou stepped over to the far corner of the table, carefully lifting a section of the board that hid an underground chamber. "This part is Kul Elna, right?"
That's right.
Ryou frowned as he checked the board for any missed paint or jagged edged before gingerly setting the piece in his hands back where it had been.
He hesitated as he considered whether or not to ask what had been on his mind - though he was sure Bakura had sensed it in some way, the thought felt too loud and had grown too much that it would not have been obvious to him.
Still, he drew a deep breath and spoke it aloud. "Hey, Bakura... I know we aren't making this board just for a game. Nothing you've done has ever been just for that."
And what about it?
"Well - it's just - you don't have to do this, yeah? We could just walk away from this. I know there's things going on here that I don't understand, because you haven't told me about them, but... you don't have to do... this." Ryou sat down at the head of the table, looking out at the small world they'd crafted together. Bakura was often clumsy and careless with so many things, it surprised Ryou how much detail and precision he'd managed to craft the model city with.
"I could help you," Ryou said suddenly, his voice loud enough that it echoed in the wide open room. "What ever it is you're dealing with. We're similar in a lot of ways, and - we could have been friends... No, we are friends, regardless of anything that's happened. I know there's more going on here. Won't you let me help you?"
Bakura's silence in response to his question was deafening. Ryou felt his heart sink, knowing what the eventual answer would be.
Bakura was as high spirited as ever when he answered. You've done a lot to help already, Ryou, he said cheerily, again without a hint of his normal maliciousness. Now we should be getting home, and you should get to bed. Tomorrow is a big day.

Coming home: a tale untold
Yami Bakura sat in the darkness. Cursing the pharaoh and his modern day friends. They have run amuck over his plans to get revenge. Everything he had worked so hard for was gone and he will never get another chance.
“NO!! It can’t end like this!!” He screams in pain and agony.
“I was supposed to save them! That stupid pharaoh was supposed to be dead!!” Hot angry tears run down his cheeks as he thought of his village. All the people of Kul Elna were forever lost to time. His friends, family, his little sister. Everything was ruined.
“Why can’t I have my happily ever after?!” Bakura cried out into the darkness before banging his head on the floor.
“We don’t need happily ever after.” Bakura gasped and sat up. His eyes were wide with shock.
“A-Aalin …” He whispered. His little sister stood there with two lotuses in her hands. She was still the adorable little five year old he couldn’t save that day. The little girl stepped forward to her big brother.
“Brother please, let go.” She begged him, twirling the flowers in her hands.
“Don’t you want to stay with me?” She asked him. Bakura was too shocked to speak. His sister poured a bit before placing one lotus before him.
“We’re waiting for you brother. Please come home.” Bakura was confused at first. We? He looked behind Aisha. There stood the spirits of his entire village. Bakura couldn’t believe it. All of his friends and family was there.
“Come home.” They all begged him. “Come home to us.”
Bakura looked back at his little sister. She had a hand out to him.
“Are you coming?” With tears in his eyes, Bakura carefully took Aalin’s hand. The girl pulled him into a hug and started crying too.
“W-we’ve waited for you for so long!” She cried. Bakura’s family then came over and gave their tearful hugs as well. The entire village came to welcome their lost child home. Bakura was home. As the hug remained, Bakura could feel as Zorc’s spirit left his. He was now at peace and no longer felt the malice he had carried for so many millennia.
“Come on brother! It’s time to go!” Aalin said as everyone began to walk into the doors of light. Bakura stared ahead as he stood. He stood slightly hunched over, holding his sister’s hand. But the closer he got to the light, the younger he became. Until they were standing right in front of the door. Bakura had became six years old again. Just like the day his village was attacked. He gripped his sister’s hand, afraid of the other side. Aalin leaned on him and smiled.
“It’s time to come home Akefia.” She whispers as they walked into the light. Now together and never again apart. The doors close, leaving the millennium stone alone. Except for the two Egyptian lotuses laying peacefully over the engraving of the millennium ring.

❛ don’t overthink it. ❜ ( 👀 )
@darknesskng // 👀 inspired by the recent closeness reblog post ~
Tumblr media
"Overthink it?" She's silent after echoing the words back to him. Her eyes soft when gazing up. They where currently near kul elna, his home town where everything started. But she hadn't been thinking of that no. Only him. Her thoughts drifting to him more often than needed. Hands raise to cup his face not the scar side careful to not direct his attention to that but instead to her.
"That's hard to do when we this close.." Hathor finally speaks though tone gentle as her touch is. "I am thinking why we are this close to begin with, But i don't dislike it.." She loved being close to him to feel like she could protect him. Many things she did think about but right now it was the closeness of Kura.
"Lets stay like this a little longer?"

In Another Life (Ch. 8 Preview)
Once again driven by boredom, Touzoku-Ou shoved past Bakura and leapt onto the bed, landing beside Ryou with a cheeky grin. He said something, which caused Ryou to look to Bakura for assistance. His darker half glared at his Ancient Egyptian counterpart and stormed off without a word, leaving Ryou to fumble with what little of the language he recalled from his years in Egypt.
“Mmkay, guess he doesn’t want to translate anymore… Can you say that again? Slower?”
Touzoku-ou stared, seemingly mesmerized by Ryou’s lips while he spoke, and placed a casual thumb over the point of interest. He traced his thumb over Ryou’s supple flesh, eyes shining like the night sky despite, or perhaps because of, the dark. Wordless, the man caressed his hand backwards from Ryou’s mouth, never letting the contact be broken, until he clasped several wisps of white hair between his fingers. A single word finally drifted among them, and Ryou recognized it.
Family.
Despite his previous vacillation, Ryou felt his heart melt. The King of Thieves, Thief King Bakhura, orphaned by the destruction of Kul Elna and left to survive the harsh world of Ancient Egypt from a young age. He remembered what little the spirit told him while they worked on the RPG diorama, remembered how much sorrow and sympathy and anger had boiled up inside him.
Without thinking, Ryou grabbed Touzoku-Ou and hugged him, repeating the word into the ashen hair, promising and praying for it at the same time. The thief stiffened at the embrace before dubiously returning the affection.
“Be careful, Ya… Ryou,” Bakura’s half-amused, half-annoyed voice called, and Ryou caught a glimpse of him back in the doorway, sleeping bag tucked under his arm. “He’s not an innocent child. He’s still a murderer and a thief. And the thief part of him has eyes on you, from what I’ve heard.”
Mildly irritated, Ryou shook his head and pulled away from the embrace, smiling at the quizzical look Touzoku-Ou gave him. “You’re being a pervert. I don’t speak the language as well as you, but I know he called me family.”
“Mm, yes… Family. Family doesn’t stop at siblings and parents. A husband and, in your case, husband are still family, Ryou.” Bakura chuckled to himself and tossed the sleeping bag on the floor in front of Ryou’s bed. He ignored Ryou’s inquiring gaze, continuing, “But hey, if banging your ancestor from three thousand years ago is your fetish, don’t let me stop you. Go ahead, enjoy your family time.”

S5 Ep 42 Pt 1: It’s All In Your Head
Every week with long covid is like a new batch of symptoms. Last month’s symptom, among other things, was “words no work no good,” and so we just uh...didn’t do an update. I probably needed to chill and nap anyway. Not that I’m fully better yet, today I did laundry and pulled out a blue shirt that I clearly own and bought with my own money--but I have no memory of it. Zilch.
The brain is amazing, that with this brain fog, I can’t remember my blue t-shirt, but I can remember Yugioh. Weird, right? So anyway, thanks for your patience in this weird time of my life, glad to have a blog to write about anime in that is so chill with our very long breaks.
Also, I finally went through my old caps to toss old pictures so that way I can make new stuff, and guess what I just realized?
Tumblr media
Kisara is not a dragon!
Seto’s girlfriend isn’t a dragon! She’s just on top of the dragon, I can’t...I just can’t believe this.
Truly a crime that this season, the final ultimate season of Yugioh, is what I’m doing while on Long Covid fruitloops, so I can miss every damn point that this show fires at me. But, at least, I hope it’s funny to read. It is like every single update where I realize I was wrong about the obvious, and don’t worry, it’s gonna happen again in like 4 seconds. My borked brain.
Anyway, Yugi and Co have walked all the way to the palace. Because we’re still on S4 time and space conventions where Death Valley, the Grand Canyon, and San Fransisco are all next to each other. Like Yami fell in the Nile in a fight that was just outside of the city--but I assumed he got pulled way out there. Either way, it’s a kid’s show, never think about geography.
Tumblr media
(read more under the cut)
Tumblr media
Yugi can conveniently walk through doors now, and after a quick shoutout to his homie Yami, they phase through.
Including Tristan who is...
Well,
APPARENTLY TRISTAN WAS POSSESSED.
Tumblr media
Freakin, my brain is a bunch of salad dressing, lmaoooo even last episode I was like “wow Tristan is drawn kinda evil and I don’t really get why” and it was RIGHT THERE. He’s been possessed probably since Bakura grabbed him by the neck right in front of me. I somehow missed this!
And like, I figure, if I try and wait out long covid it may take a whole other year, so like this is just me now. I started this blog as like a competent analysis (ish), and now I get to the end of S5 giving you just an incoherent rorschach. It’s kind of fitting for this show really, everyone has to end up at least a little bit of a mess. Keeps you humble. Even me. I also have to become the mess.
Anyway, speaking of becoming a babbling incoherent mess, we go back to Bakura, who has fully lost his game in Battle Basement of a 7 vs 1 game.
Only in Yugioh would they make a 7 vs 1 game feel evenly sided.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as I wonder if I’ve already made that joke four months back and have forgotten, they all watch Bakura do a mad dash to screw them over one last time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while they stood there and just allowed Bakura to fumble around with the doom rocks made of human souls, from no where, Aknadin stumbles through the door all day drunk like freakin Kramer.
Tumblr media
And no, in the show he did not reveal here that he was Seto’s dad, but he does in like 2 minutes so I didn’t really care about where I put it. The big thing is that Aknadin’s gone full-tilt cray and not even he can fully explain his motive anymore.
Tumblr media
That’s when they realize Aknadin’s babysitter, Shada, has been punk’d on the bottom of skull tablet basement. Which like, Imagine the day that Shada’s been having. I guess Aknadin just left him at the base of like 10000 human skulls then, hahaha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have checked my notes and I decided that 2000 people died in Kul Elna a few months back but eh I don’t feel like changing this cap. Overall, I have no freakin idea how many people lived in this freakin town and they can’t tell us because 4Kids would never allow it.
Which is when Bakura decided to teleport his bean into another bean because this bean is broke.
Tumblr media
Which is when we met this guy, a guy we’ve only met for like 4 seconds of the show so far. Hello there, Original Bakura.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Straight up, he wasn’t on screen long enough for me to over-analyze his accent before he was a small mound of dust on the floor.
Tumblr media
Ah the death count! Oh damn it, I write these notes on the caps sometimes, expecting I’ll put an actual number there later but lets be real, I just need to publish this episode, so let me open the Google doc...
7,805,847,572
Yeah that’s how many people have died in this kids show so far. We’re right on track. Thanks Bakura, for another death, but no you have not caught up with Dartz. Although I will hand it to him, Dartz didn’t end up killing himself nearly as many times as Bakura has.
Speaking of dying and being dead on a kid’s show, in enters Shada.
Tumblr media
So lets go see what Yugi’s up to hm? The four have decided to separate in this Egyptian palace to each find Yami’s name. Mind you...there’s some flaws with this plan.
Tumblr media
The flaw being that none of them have graduated high school or know freakin anything about Egypt, other than they hang out with an Ex patriot Egyptian. (2 ex-patriots if you count Yugi’s Grandfather. Although honestly, are you an ex-pat if you are reborn in a kid’s body on the other side of the world? You are, right? You are). But, whether or not Yami can or can’t read Egyptian in Canonical Yugioh, we know that Yugi apparently super can’t when Yami isn’t in his bean.
And Joey just can’t focus for the life of him, which, damn, relatable. But, he did find a room full of women.
Tumblr media
He also went to the only room with like lots of water. Real pissed focused mind here, and no the piss plotline will not be resolved.
Tumblr media
Tea, still GOAT.
Tumblr media
This castle, man. I love the complete disregard for interiors that this animation team has. Like...what even is the purpose of this weird maze room with masssssive stone tiles, Yugioh? Like...what is this even supposed to be? Why are the tiles so SHINY?
Anyway, lets go back to Shada and hear his excuse for what the hell happened last episode.
Tumblr media
Which is when Aknadin decided to just start cursing everyone, which he would have done earlier if he wasn’t constantly in a sick bed this season.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This very well might be a yugioh card effect that turns you into a rainbow filter, but it also looks like a complete mess of artistic directions on the screen.
Which like, after that cutesy filter, lets pull our eyes out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is when Yami makes the biggest logical leap known to man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s right! Yami has figured out that this entire time, this entire arc, he’s been sleeping at this RPG table that Bakura’s built in his mom’s basement Yami’s Puzzle Necklace.
In fact, when Yami wakes up to all of this, wearing his normal ass school clothes, and Bakura sitting across from him in his popped collar duster jacket, Bakura says something on the line of “bout time you woke up.”
the fic shippers must have had a FIELD DAY with one.
Anyway, everything is a lie, Bakura is controlling people like puzzle pieces, which not only explains why Aknadin’s motives went a 180, but can lead us to believe that Yami also COULD control everyone else, but just chooses not to. Just like he does in real life.
I think, overall, you just have to go with it. We’re playing D+D, except it’s about your embarrassing past. Like if you made D+D about your middle school experience and you can’t remember your first name.
What a way to die, really. What a weird ass way for Yami to almost die.
Anyway, here’s a link for those new here to read these from the beginning. I have the 2nd part already drafted up, should be up in a few days and not an entire month, haha. Hope your 2023 is looking up!

Re: this post, which season/arc is your favourite?
Oooo oh God this one is a tough one.
Nostalgia wise, Battle City owns my heart. I grew up watching the Yami v Y Marik fight on repeat bc I had the DVD. It imprinted on me in a sense, I was not normal about Yugioh and this was the fight that got me hooked on it. Battle City is also just a really well developed arc as well, with some pretty key and amazing moments.
Manga wise, my favorite is the Millennium Enemy Arc! I'm a big D&D Nerd, so it just speaks to me. Also, it's the introduction of one of my all time favorite characters and it sets up so nicely for the final Arc of the series and let's everything come together so nicely and beautifully. Also it had the better Zorc design and I do not understand why we didn't just build off of that and why Takahashi went the fever dream route. I get he was sick but I feel like drawing that version of Zorc would still be easier than. You know. The dragon dick.
Now a days, I would say my favorite season or Arc of the anime...God it's tied between Waking the Dragons and Millennium World. The two seasons I desperately want remakes of in better animation because they deserved it goddammit.
The biker boys of Waking the Dragons are some of my favorite characters and it's absolutely due to my best friend Kohaku and her fic Come Together! We talk about the biker boys at least once a day. We love these idiots your honor. Also, the parallels between them and the main three boys, the actual thought and detail that went into the lore with Atlantis -- like they actually took from the stories of Atlantis that were written and it's super intriguing -- and also the struggles our main 3 boys have to face when having a mirror held in front of them and how they in turn reach out to the boys is just. It's perfection.
Millennium World, meanwhile, is Bakuras time to shine and that means everything to me. But I also love getting to see what the Pharaoh's life was before the Puzzle and the people he cared about and interacted with. The trust he had to place in Seto and the care he certainly had for Mahaad and Mana both. Also the gang being the ones out there searching for his name and Yugis internal struggle of if he can give up his one wish, then also having to quickly face that the reality where he and his other self are no longer sharing their paths together anymore is fucking heart-rending.
There are a couple things I wish did happen differently, i.e. Takahashis wish that he could have gone more in detail about Seto and Kisaras story but couldn't, understandably so, since he was in the hospital. And. Also. Bakura and the people of Kul Elna should have gotten actual fucking justice considering. You know. Victims of a genocide and the entire village sans him got turned into the fucking Millennium Items. But that's just me.
I have a lot of opinions about my man Bakura.
But thank you for asking!! I wanna hear yours too!!!

Three Celebrity Podcasts: Naomi Osaka; Johnny Knoxville; Jay Glazer
Tumblr media
When existing health organizations collaborate with celebrities, then people pay attention. In effect, the celebrity's fans get converted into podcast listeners. That's what's happening here, and it just so happens that the celebrity athlete and the health organization make an excellent fit.
Modern Health, which is a leading global workplace mental health platform, and Naomi Osaka’s Emmy Award-nominated media company, Hana Kuma, have announced the release of their podcast video series, Can’t Wait To Hear From You. The series delves deep into the psyche of high-performing individuals, exploring their daily connection with their inner voice, pivotal moments that shaped their self-expression, and the effective mental care strategies they employ to nurture their identity. Can’t Wait to Hear From You features two rotating hosts – New York Times bestselling author Luvvie Ajayi Jones as well as renowned YouTube influencer Franny Arrieta.
“I am so excited to be officially launching Can’t Wait to Hear from You,” said Naomi Osaka. “It’s such an impactful series where we openly talk about mental health. Since speaking out about my own experiences, I’ve felt so much empowerment in my vulnerability and I’ve received so much love and support from my close circle, my fans, and Modern Health. I want others to feel the same and I hope this video podcast series will encourage them to have open discussions and feel less shame.”
“Mental health as a topic has always faced stigma, and that is something we are on a mission to change,”  said Alyson Watson, founder & CEO of Modern Health. “By showcasing vulnerable and intimate conversations with high-profile business leaders, sports personalities, actors, and activists, we aim to normalize this topic and underscore the power of aligning your inner voice with your personal purpose.”
The series premiered on Thursday, March 28 at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET on Hana Kuma’s YouTube channel, with the first guest entrepreneur, author, and former Chief Marketing Officer at Netflix, Bozoma Saint John. Additional upcoming guests include actor and activist Kendrick Sampson; eight-time All-American and distinguished four-time member of the USA Gymnastics Junior National Team Katelyn Ohashi; founder and CEO of lifestyle brand Market Mike Cherman; entrepreneur and founder of Lyons Wines Chris Lyons; in addition to a special edition episode hosted by Osaka featuring the United States Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy.
This series serves as a continuation of Modern Health’s partnership with Osaka. The company has launched a series of children’s meditations, developed and narrated by the tennis champion, covering important topics, including how to conquer overwhelming feelings and apply skills like self-compassion. Osaka was also featured in Modern Health’s first-ever Family Huddle series, designed to empower families and caregivers to discuss strategies for building positive mental health habits.

SmartLess Media has announced its next original podcast, Pretty Sure I Can Fly. SmartLess Media is a joint venture between Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes. Off the success of their mega-hit podcast, SmartLess, the trio founded SmartLess Media to branch out and create more comedy content – for the podcast space and beyond. Pretty Sure I Can Fly, hosted by Johnny Knoxville and Elna Baker, explores and celebrates the remarkable and slightly unhinged people who have pushed history forward and redefined the limits of human potential.
Listen to the Pretty Sure I Can Fly trailer here:
“Nothing makes me happier than reading about some wonderful nut who has achieved an extraordinary feat under impossible conditions while everyone is telling them it couldn't or shouldn’t be done,” said Knoxville. “I find their stories endlessly inspiring and now, with this podcast, Elna and I will get to pick their courageous brains and see why they do what they do. Why in the hell would someone want to surf a 100 foot wave or battle -56 degree temperatures and polar bears for weeks trying to reach the geographic North Pole? I mean sheesh am I the only sane one here?”“It takes a particular kind of fucked upness, or blind positivity or just being off your rocker to do the things our guests have done,” said Baker. “When you have an opportunity to create a podcast with Johnny Knoxville and Elna Baker, you say yes,” said SmartLess Media President Richard Korson. Pretty Sure I Can Fly guests will include Travis Pastrana (professional motorsports competitor and stunt performer), Garrett McNamara (professional big wave surfer, Amplify Pictures’ 100 Foot Wave broadcast on HBO), Dudley Stokes (legendary Jamaican bobsledder), Ann Daniels (polar explorer), Tori Murden (first woman and the first American to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean) and more. PRETTY SURE I CAN FLY Premiere date: April 8 on Amazon Music/Wondery+, April 15 on all podcast services What can we expect? Based on the guests, this show should be a massive upgrade from Jackass. I mean, how many times can you punch a guy in the balls and get a laugh? Apparently, a lot of times. **************************************************
Another excellent podcast about mental health,“Unbreakable with Jay Glazer: A Mental WEALTH Podcast” is an extension of Jay Glazer’s widely-acclaimed, best-selling book “Unbreakable.” The podcast features Fox NFL Insider Jay Glazer as he shares his personal mental health journey with the audience, including the tools and techniques he’s developed to “live in the gray” – his term for living and thriving with anxiety, depression and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Welcoming mental health experts, athletes, coaches, celebrities and others, Glazer and his special guests share personal stories of overcoming adversity, the tools they use to incur MENTAL WEALTH, and their paths to success to help motivate, uplift and inspire listeners, and help set them up to win. New episodes are posted on Wednesdays, with frequent check-ins where Glazer updates listeners as he navigates the path to mental wellness.
If you're not a sports fan, Jay Glazer, national television personality, Fox NFL Insider, best-selling author and host of “Unbreakable with Jay Glazer: A Mental WEALTH Podcast,” set up the first-ever, in-person reunion between former Iraq War POW Shoshana Johnson and her rescuer, U.S. Marine Curney Russell. Retired U.S. Army Specialist Johnson, the first U.S. black female prisoner of war, was among the members of the Army’s 507th Maintenance Company from Fort Bliss who were captured in Nasiriyah, Iraq, on March 23, 2003, and held for 22 days. Russell was part of the U.S. Marine squad who rescued Johnson and six other American soldiers who were held hostage. Johnson and Russell have not seen each other in person since the rescue operation in 2003. Glazer, who previously interviewed Johnson and Russell for his “Unbreakable” podcast, made a promise to get them in the same room so they could see each other once again.  With this past Saturday marking the 21st anniversary of Johnson’s capture, she and Russell were invited to Glazer’s home for a special reunion. “These are two of the most amazing, courageous, inspirational people I’ve ever met, and I made a promise during our first podcast to reunite them,” said Glazer. “This was about keeping my promise, but it turned into something even more beautiful. Seeing them connect after all these years was incredible.
