Hey, hi, hello to the annual “here comes the secret santa!”, where we let you know that there’s going to be a secret santa. Surprise!

Just like last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, the season for public holidays and gift-giving is fast approaching, and the post office has advised everyone to get in early. Also, just like last year, it is open to everyone who wishes to participate. For those who haven’t done it before, read on! For those who have, please also read on just to make sure nothing has changed! Please also reblog this, as it has an external link and probably won’t appear in the tags!

How to join:

To sign up to participate, all you have to do is go to this google form and fill it out. You do need to provide a username that we can use to contact you, however we do NOT collect any emails or other identifying information other than that contact. You are able to sign up from now until October 16 October 31.

Optional: you may also like to join the ESS discord server here. It is only active during the SS event, mostly as a way of contacting non-Tumblr users. If you are signing up and are based solely / primarily on Discord, we do encourage you to join this server.

Wishlists:

Wishlists are the same as last year, as we felt that by limiting requests to only what you did not wish to receive allowed for a better event for everyone.

In addition to specifying only that which you didn’t want, we also have a list of things that should not be included. This is for the safety and wellbeing of participants, as well as for us on the blog who go through and confirm formatting and tags and the like. For that reason, we do not allow gifts with major character death, gore, violence, rape, or other generally-assumed content or trigger warnings. You can specify your own CWs that you don’t wish to receive in the form. If you are creating a gift and you’re unsure about it, please ask!

Format:

We do not police the format different users create. That is, if you are an artist, you may receive art in return, or you may receive a story. Preferably, these two mediums are the gift, however there are users who do create other types of content: videos and animations and the like. These are all 100% acceptable.

Participants:

Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate! Bear in mind that you will be receiving a gift AND making one for someone else. If you would like to make gifts but not receive any, please get into contact with us (don’t use the form, it’s not optimised for that, but you can message us or send us an ask). Also, please remember that it doesn’t matter if you’ve never done something like this before, or never created content. Just make sure, whatever you choose to do, it is of a standard that you would like to receive for yourself :)

Signup closes: October 16 October 31     - The Google form will close on this day and you will not be able to sign up for the SS after this. Make sure to sign up before then! [edit: signup period extended due to tumblr issue with promoting event] Names released: October 23 November 7     - The names will all be randomised. You will be told who you are creating for and will receive their wishlist. If you want to send them an ask about it, feel free, but please do it on anon. Alternatively, we can ask for you. [edit: date pushed back to accommodate extension with signup] Gifts due: December 18     - Submit your gift anonymously (logged out or incognito) to the Secret Santa submission page. You will be able to release the gift under your own name after the Secret Santa is complete if you so choose. We ask for gifts to be submitted early just in case there are any problems (such as formatting, tumblr eating them, etc). Gifts released: December 25     - The gift order will be randomised and released throughout the day on December 25 (+00:00GMT) for everyone to enjoy.

Alright, everyone! The votes are in! 

Do you like Elsanna? Do you like weeks? Well, you’re in luck, because this Elsanna Week will be going for eight days instead of seven, from March 5th to March 12th! Yay for the extra day!

Moreover, since there are folks in the fandom who might have wanted to participate in previous Elsanna Weeks but didn’t have the chance, there will be two lists of prompts. One consists of new prompts. The other consists of a collection of prompts from previous years. People then have the freedom to choose which of the prompts they want to do on a given today. You can do any of the prompts you like! You can do a new prompt on one day and an old prompt on another, you can do all the new prompts, you can do all the old prompts, you can do ALL the prompts if you want to - go for it! The point is to have fun, and celebrate the love between Elsa and Anna in fics, fanart, edits, anything you like!

I've struggled with my love for the Elsanna fandom/ship for the last 6-7 years or so. I was convinced was mentally ill for reading and writing incest fanfic. I even spoke to a therapist about it. But what's helped most is every time open this app, I feel welcomed with the amount of love and acceptance you pour into the fandom with your blog. You single handedly have shown me it's okay to have hobbies that other people think are weird.

I've grown as a person inside of the fandom. Because of it, even. I know more about my identity and self expression than ever before. Largely because I was allowed the freedom to explore the thoughts and feelings I had within the safety of Elsanna. To be able to keep this passion without guilt is such a blessing. I know I'm just a stranger on the internet. But cannot express this enough: Thank you for being so outspoken. Thank you so so much for always being a beacon of light. I hope you don't let these anti's darken that.

This is one of those asks where I'm not fully sure what to say. I'm overwhelmed, anon. I... "Single-handedly"? Really? I've always wanted to leave a positive impact on this fandom, on the people I've met here. I've always hoped that I can leave a positive mark, with kindness, with compassion to others, with my writing and my edits. Other people have made more beautiful art than I, longer and richer stories. I'm glad that I can make my mark in a positive way. Thank you.

Elsanna (which I don’t ship that much anymore but it was definitely the first) from Frozen. This started as a joke; when my friends and I went to see Frozen in theaters, I kept being like “ooooh they were girlfriends, they broke up! Awww look she wants to get back together!” and then it turned out wow I actually ship it... oops? Lmfao congrats, Aims, you played yourself.

A crossover ship between Veronica Sawyer of Heathers (played by Barrett Wilbert Weed) and Janis Sarkisian of Mean Girls (also played by Barrett Wilbert Weed). Their ship name is Janica. They’re twins and I love them so much. This was supposed to be a one-off, a small squint-and-you’ll-miss it moment of a much larger story, but being able to talk about this one particular aspect with a friend made it so much more and we both go so hard for the twincest holy shit. I know they’re not actually sisters but in my head they are.

Juliette/Elinor (Elinette? Julinor? Fairmontcest?) from First Kill. No one’s written about it yet. I’m waiting.

The Issue with Frozen 2

I didn't watch the movie in half a year, and since Dinsey+ now has it on norwegian, I decided to check it out on the sisters' "official language"

The obvious fault of it jumped at me, now that the excitment of seeing the sisters again passed.

IT REALLY ISN'T ABOUT THE SISTERS!!! By the time Elsa met Brunni, I was like "I don't care about this spirit story, daaaamnnn..."

Like someone talking to you non-stop about something you don't care about.

I was excited about watching Anna and Elsa having an adventure together, and instead it was getting halted constantly by characters and things that were new.

Which isn't bad per say, because I did like a lot of it the first few times....But now I understand the disappointed of so many.

How beautiful would it have been to have Anna and Elsa to perhaps deal with their differences and learning to deal with one another's differences (and traumas)? Instead of the ambient being the main character, like..have the sisters be the main character...?

It's the story of the forest and the spirit, not really of the sisters.

How nice would it have been for the sisters' scenes to be a useful aspect of the movie, instead of feeling like fan service? Anna could learn that being forceful and raising her voice only gets Elsa to shut down. And Elsa's deal is speaking to Anna, instead of keeping things to herself and wanting to do everything on her own?

We need a hero to edit like...80% of the movie, and we can have a short that we can eat up like chocolate ice-cream to get our fill of Elsa/Anna (sisterly) love.

Sometimes I wonder if Disney discovered the Elsanna fandom and got alarmed by this interprepation of the sisters' relationship and that's why they did this, lol.

The most frightening part was how much she believed in it. Deep down, she was so sure of herself. The very idea of hurting Elsa revolted her. Not because of the past. Not because she was the only one she had left. She felt it. The need to protect her was different. She couldn't have explained it. She didn't understand it herself.

It was something in Elsa's eyes. Something who had silenced everything else.

She would go pierce the heart of Jörmungandr with her sword just to keep her safe. (a little something for my fic - read here)
