The groundbridge closes and Ratchet slumps over his keyboard. Finally. All the humans gone, and with them, every other Primus-forsaken inhabitant of this base, save—

“Optimus.” Ratchet hears him approach, doesn’t bother turning around.

Optimus steps close behind him and lays his hands on Ratchet’s shoulders, massaging gently. “You look tired, old friend.”

Ratchet sighs, arching into the touch. “It’s been a long day.”

“It has,” Optimus agrees. “Come to bed.”

“I have more—”

Optimus drapes himself fully across Ratchet’s back, tucking his face into the crook of Ratchet’s neck and purring a long, deep note. “Ratchet,” he rumbles. “It will wait.”

“But—” Optimus doesn’t say anything this time, just nuzzles deeper into Ratchet’s collar faring. “Fine. But only for a few hours.”

Why don't Rosie and ratchet get along? You think they would given their jobs.

Well... overall no matter the verse the reason is Rosie is willing to fix bots Ratchet considers "enemies" she's not one to turn away a bot whose broken.

Basically, she follows the hippocratic oath. Ratchet does not.

And if we get into specifics - for like the current Bayverse fanfic I'm writing... Rosie has done things that Ratchet considers "Unethical" such as bringing Jazz back to life. Granted it was an accident and Jazz was happy about it, but... ya know.

In Prime he doesn't like how well she gets along with Decepticons and how they treat her so well. He's bitter due to his past experience and Rosie honors that.

In Earthspark he can't grasp a human is the one fixing and saving bots. And he doesn't like she's a human having to do all that work alone.

He doesn't hate her, far from it. They just don't see eye to eye. And they are complicated. He respects her, but also trusts her enough to be blunt and honest when something bothers him.

But, if anyone were to touch her - oh that'd be the last thing they do.
