I will be at Emerald City Comic Con again! This time, it will be this weekend (no longer in December) and will be in the newly renovated building (on the second floor!).  I am sort of down the middle aisle, so I should be easy to find - Table H-20! 

New prints! Seasonal Dragons will be available as both a print and original! I still have books available: Mermay 2022 package and Mermay 2021. 

(Also: Commissions online will be on hold until after the event - commissions will be available only on site!)

I knew it was gonna happen sooner or later.

You can't go to that many cons without picking up something and y'all know about the dreaded con crud from before. I did everything I could to limit by expsoure. I always wore a mouth covering except for eating and drinking. I try not to touch anybody, instead, I do bumping elbows. I don't even touch food with my hands! Y'all should see me eat pizza with napkins! I don't check out room parties, lobbycon or dances, in fact I usually retreat to my hotel room to study (I'm back in school, online courses). After every convention, I get tested - usually at the public health kiosk around Austin.

I definitely have close calls in the past months. Twice I swore I caught something, but both tests came up negative. So when I felt a bit under the weather, I didn't think anything of it. I just went to my testing center and got swabbed again. This time it came back POSITIVE. My heart sank….

I posted on social media that if you interacted with me at the con to get yourself tested and personal messaged everyone who I remember talking with. I spent the next 13 days in a spare bedroom sleeping and coughing my way back to health. I suppose the vaccination and booster helped? I heard about folks who went through much more than what I went through.

So this was May when I caught it and we are in September now. Since then I’ve attended four conventions of different sizes and I have changed the way I do cons now.

First of all ever since last year I’ve had ....not panic attacks but moments where I think to myself, there’s way too many people here...and perhaps I should leave. Usually I’m in the dealer hall when this happens and I usually have to go outside for a bit. Now in general, there usually is an outdoor spot where cosplayers gathered and I figured since outdoors are deem to be better circulation and I do spend my time chatting with photographers and cosplayers that I would change my habits a bit.

Starting at Anime Expo, I stayed outside on Saturday and Sunday. On the less busier day - Monday - I went inside. At Emerald City Comic Con, I did the same thing. Thursday and Friday I was indoors and Saturday I was outdoors

I understand your experience with COVID is subjective and your mileage will vary but I feel more comfortable in this manner. I also don’t have such an issue at smaller conventions even though COVID can still be there. After some thought, I decided to just stay in Texas for cons for the rest of the year. I’ve done eight cons so far with five of them out of state, I think I’ll just lay low for a bit.

It is!! Mostly finished!! Someday I'd still like to make armor and boot covers, as well as add more zipper stops to the side seams and back flaps on the coat, but I'm calling it Good Enough for now. Very excited to wear this to Emerald City Comic Con tomorrow!

Going to ECCC this year (even though I really didn't want to...long story.) and tomorrow I'm gonna be going over to a place where they do nothing but testing & I'll be able to get my results in the amount of time that they require because they have a new travel / event test that they can do. Which is a complete gift from God because now I'll be able to at least get started on my stuff.

Thank you, everyone, for coming out to Emerald City Comic Con! It was great meeting so many amazing people! All of you made this past weekend so much fun and enjoyable!

Unfortunately, after this con, I might not be attend cons for a little while until things calm down (might do some CA cons but not much). I would love to travel to other cons outside of CA, but recent streak of cons has shown that it might be better to hold off for greater things.

In the meantime, time to focus on art!

Here is the last commission of Day 4: a fairy! This one has a personal touch since it was a prompt with my take on the idea!

I DIDN’T GET A CARD!!

I got this journal at ECCC this year. It’s hard bound, and the pages are thick enough that sharpies don’t bleed through. But I forgot to grab a fucking card from the artist, and I have spent two days working through a chunk of the Artist Alley list to no avail. 

Does anyone recognize the work? There were other designs, and I really wanted to grab a couple more for friends because it’s just a lovely little journal.
