JAUNE'S HAREM (BAD ENDING)

The bullying of Pyrrha Nikos reached its climax after Pyrrha had a bucket of water dumped on her in the ladies' restroom during recess. At his limit, Professor Jaune Arc hauled the ringleaders of his class bullies to the counselor's room to take the smug brats to task after their lastest escapade.

What followed was a grueling contest of flesh and will as Jaune attempted to instill discipline in his students.

After a hard battle, Jaune landed the final blow upon Neo. Neo after Jaune attack fell to the ground. Everyone was shocked at the outcome but Jaune… Jaune saw Neo laying down and with little of his strength he walks towards her. As approached her, he gets to his knees, grabs and pulls her close to his arms. He then begins to activate his semblance, making his friends confused yet angry.

Blake: Jaune what are doing?!

Yang: After everything she’s done you want to keep her alive. Out of all people.

Oscar: QUIET!

Team RWBY, Marrow, Elm and Qrow look to Oscar, who stand firm in place. Alongside him were Ren, Nora, Winter, and Harriet.  Emerald turns away not wanting to look. They told everyone to look at him. And as team RWBY and everyone looked closely, they saw the light from Jaune’s hands are fading.

Nora: The fight took a heavy toll on him too. Her wounds are critical. He can’t heal her. He’s just keeping alive.

Ren: Enough--- Just enough… … to send her off.

RWBY and others didn’t understand but decided to let it play out. Neo slowly opened her eyes as she saw the young knight looking down on her. Jaune saw her as she was trying to demonstrate and then asked her

Jaune: Please, let me hear your voice. Just once. Please?

Neo was shocked. The knights eyes looked upon her with sadness in his eyes. But why? After everything she’s done, why still show her pity? Neo wanted answers so with all energy she asked-

Neo: To think I be bested by a nerd. Tell me. Why?

Jaune: *glad she spoke*

Neo: Why still help me?

Jaune: Simple. I really wanted us to be friends.

Neo: *surprised* Us. Be… friends?

Jaune: Yeah… … but-

Neo looks to see tears falling from the man face. She soon realizes it. Her time has come, and he has no way to save her. However, instead of grieving she feel, joy. She slowly raises her hand, placeing on the knights face as she gives him a warm smile.

Neo: Yeah. That would have been good. Don’t cry. This was inevitable. Sometimes you can’t have it both ways. And besides, you should be proud. Despite their cruel words. Despite everything they put you through. You stay true and protected them.  That’s what makes you… a hero. At least in my book.

Jaune semblances was slowly fading away yet neither Neo or Jaune cared as they stayed, locking eyes with each other. Jaune after hearing her pleasant word Jaune smiles back at her. He then replies-

Jaune: Thank you.

Neo: Hey…

Jaune: Yeah?

Neo: Do you think… I’ll be able to see him again?

Jaune: … … *giggles while drying his eyes* Of course. Trust me. He is waiting for you.

Neo: *life leaving her body*… Good… Then I… I guess… I get my … my… happy… ending.

Neo closes her eyes one final time. She then awakens into a new world. She looks around as she sees nothing but darkness. Neo was sad until she smelled something. Neo saw smoke with a very faint orange light. She runs towards it only to see it come closer. Halfway she stopped as the light came closer. As the smoked cleared she saw someone with his favorite hat and white jacket.

???: Well, you certainly kept me waiting. Neo.

Neo cries has she hugged the man in front her. She held him tight, making him smile.

???: I missed you too.

He then took off his hat and placed it on Neo head, preparing to leave.

???: Let’s go Neo. A new heist awaits us.

Neo: *smiles* Alright Roman.

In the living world Jaune semblance faded, as his smile when Neo finally rested. Jaune, even knowing she’s gone, still holds onto her. Tears relentlessly flowing from his eyes. He screams to sky with fury. Asking inside his mind "Why?" Until.

Jaune stares at the sky as clouds begin to merge forming a cloud. As the sky begins to gray rain soon follows. Jaune proceeds to go on-

Jaune: What’s the point of it all? Why am I even here? Why am I so worthless that I can’t save anybody?

Ruby hesitated but wanted to help her friend. But someone beat her to it as Nora walks towards him. She gets down her knees and hugs the young knight.

Nora: I’m not a god. But I think I can tell you something. First off, you are not worthless. If it wasn’t for you… Weiss would have died. If wasn’t for you, Winter would have died. Thousands would have died if it wasn’t for you doing what was needed to be done. Second, I‘m sorry about Penny. I know it hurt you a lot. But…. Penny just like Pyrrha, trusted you with so much. Neo slowly made her way into the abandoned warehouse, her breath heavy as she held her bladed parasol at the ready, scroll in hand to shine a light through the darkness. Each step carefully placed as she tried to be quiet, wishing Cinder or even Emerald had been able to join her. Though, if she was right-

“Coming alone this time? Bold.” 

The hair on the back of Neo’s neck stood up as she heard the familiar voice of her prey, catching a glimpse of the red cloak and petals as someone ran behind a few crates. She moved the light of her scroll to the crates, fingers shaking as she tried to keep steady. She tapped her parasol against a crate three times. 

Another three taps came from the other end of the warehouse as Ruby made her way out of hiding. “A huntress like you shouldnt come alone.” 

“And a criminal like you should be?” she signed. 

Ruby grinned and folded up her scythe. “Weiss will be here shortly. Something about needing to lead a couple huntresses onto a different trail.” 

Neo frowned a bit, keeping her parasol pointed at Ruby. “You know I have to arrest you.” 

“That would be the nature of things, wouldnt it?” Ruby sighed and sat down, looking at the window on the far end of the warehouse. “But that does make me ask, why stay with Weiss and I if you know you’ll have to put us away? Do you really think you can change us? Make us better?” She paused for a moment and looked down at Neo. “Or is it because you know that we’ll keep feeding you pieces of information that you can use to make your team look good?” 

“Because I know you want better!” Neo signed as she lowered her parasol. “Why else do you keep meeting with me?” 

Ruby dropped down from the crate she was sitting on and made her way to Neo. “Because I want you to be safe. Things are a lot more complicated than you think and I dont want to risk losing you. There’s still time for you to join us-” 

Neo raised the blade of her parasol to Ruby’s neck, her arms shaking as she stared at the woman she loved. She didnt want to hurt Ruby, didnt want to keep fighting like this, drifting apart while the love they had stayed strong. And yet, she still couldnt convince Ruby to be by her side, to leave Roman like they both should’ve when they were younger. Slowly, she lowered her blade and looked away. “Can you please explain what you’re doing?” 

“If… after my next mission. Just promise me you wont interfere.” 

“You know I cant make that promise.” 

“I know but I-” 

“We need to leave!” Weiss said as she came in through the warehouse window, blocking a few arrows with a glyph before using ice dust to seal it. “The rest of Neo’s team figured out what I was doing and started to make their way back. We have maybe three minutes before they come storming in and looking through the crates.” 

Ruby nodded and gently took Neo’s hand. “Its not too late.” 

Neo pulled away, taking a few steps back as she looked at Weiss and Ruby. Ruby, her childhood friend, and Weiss, the exiled heiress who was thrown away to the White Fang. Both girls she grew to know and love, only to part ways after a job went wrong and Neo was offered a chance to do better. ”You could come with me too, you know.” Neo signed. “Ozpin is still looking for more huntsmen. You could help people and we can clear your name. Start a new life.” 

Weiss gently pulled Ruby back. “We dont have a choice, we have to go!” 

“I’ll catch up,” Ruby said as she pulled away from Weiss. 

Neo watched as Weiss used her dust to create a fog and rush out of the warehouse with her glyphs. Her eyes then went to Ruby’s silver eyes, almost pleading for her to come back. 

“I love you, Neo. And when I’m finished, we’ll be able to be together again. I promise.” 

Neo slowly nodded as she watched Ruby turn around and race off with her semblance. The sound of the wooden door of the warehouse cracking open sounded behind her as she heard the footsteps of her teammates finally join her. 

“Damn it, they got away,” Cinder said as she lowered her bow. “At least we stopped them from getting whatever it was they were after.” 

Emerald nodded. “We should get something to eat before getting back to Ozpin. That noodle stand with the spicy noodles you like isnt too far away.” 

Neo slowly put her parasol away and turned to look at her teammates. “I’ll join you two later. I need to talk to Ozpin first.” 

“What for?” Cinder asked. “Our job’s done and we’ve sent in the report. We’re free until he needs us again.” 

“It was Ruby again. There’s something she knows that we dont. Something Ozpin is hiding.” 

“We can go talk to him after we eat,” Emerald said as she put a hand on Neo’s shoulder. “You’ve spent days trying to find them when you should be taking care of yourself. Whatever answers Ozpin has, we can find out tomorrow.”

RWBY Ships

After getting to talk about my favorite characters from RWBY, I thought I talk about my favorite ships.

Of course, there are many that I ship, but these are just my top faves.

Alright Than.

1.  Rosegarden (” Love Blooms Anywhere”)

When I finally got around to watching RWBY for the first time, Volume 4 had just come out, and I told myself that this character was quite fascinating.

But where Rosegarden comes in, I didn’t ship them until Volume 7, where it became clear that they both hold each other as friends, and that they both had a foot in the same mess.

Either way I like them both as friends and romantic partners, so even if this ship doesn’t happen, I will enjoy their interactions either way.

2. Spiced Ice-cream (” Two is still better than One”)

Now the fact that I spent years watching this show, and that even though there is little interaction to even think of this pairing as romantic, you can clearly tell from Volume 9, that these two were in love.

I think that is great. The thing about shipping is that its free, and these two live rent-free in my head, the criminals.

Their dynamic of being partners, was the best thing to come out of their introduction, and the fact that Neo spent so long trying to find clarification for his death.

And of course, after being freed from the Cat, Neo decided to have a final talk with Roman and she settles for finding her own way home, while Ruby understands this, and thus brings the end to this ship.

But who says that fate can’t bring together again.

(And because I can just write a reincarnation fic, when I have the courage.)

3. Emercury (” Our feelings aren’t illusions.”)

Love comes in many forms, and I believe the form of love you get here, is someone trying to reach the other, and yet each want to take their own path.

And the other person questions, but still respects that they have those opinions.

Emerald as a character is great, and even with a rushed redemption, I still loved what she brought to the table, both good and bad.

Mercury on one hand is starved dog who has to fight for his scraps, but on a sadder note, is the same as Cinder in a way. An abused soul who never tries to step out of line (Unless it is to finally get the chance to murder.)

The thing is those they grew off of each other, and I think that shows as they work together throughout the show.

At first they didn’t want to work together, and Emerald thought that he was taking her place next to Cinder, but as time grew on, they both got use to the other and formed this friendship.

Than when they thought that they both were standing together, Salem changes the pieces on her chess board and pushes Mercury to Vacuo with Tyrian, who tells them that the world is indeed being brought to an end.

Still the two part ways on emotional goodbyes.

Not even needing words to explain themselves to the other.

Until they meet again, I guess.

While there still some time, I have to move forward.

4. Whiteknight (” Not all princesses need a knight in shining Armor”)

Jaune and Weiss are two minor favorites of mine, but for different reasons.

I like that Wiess is a character that grows from flaws and reaches to high heights by seeing that family can come from those that aren’t your blood.

While Jaune is because he has a heart of gold that gets beaten and melted, and his emotions get racked through the dirt as he tries to make things better, not just for himself but for others.

These two had a long history together, but after they worked together, and each worked through their issues, you could see that their original opinion towards the other changed.

And if this ship did happen, then well, wouldn’t that be nice.

Now to the final message, each of these ships are of everyone's opinion, and I’m always open to hear it.

given how directly salient RH was to neo’s arc in v9, i expect the same to hold true for the CFVY novels in regard to the vacuo arc, and i think making that backstory more accessible to general/casual audiences is one of the core purposes of rwby beyond—giving cliff notes in a brief animated short is a lot less of a barrier than asking viewers to read two entire novels, even if the novels in question are quite short. a succinct recap of what went down with the crown’s insurgency prior to the broadcast and arrival of refugees from atlas + character-focused shorts giving some sense of what’s been going on with the vacuo coalition in the aftermath so that v10 can hit the ground running seems the most likely. a sort of after-credits “where are they now” for v8 but with the intention of setting the stage for v10 as opposed to tying off loose ends.

i anticipate it’ll be in a similar vein to the epilogue animatic—like a more narrative-driven world of remnant-esque series where it’s in-character exposition over a sort of slide show. (what i would ideally really like is if we got the same basic story told in a different ways by different characters, rashomon style, as a way of elaborating on the story’s themes about storytelling and the nature of truth.)

i am not holding my breath for anything to do with salem or cinder or summer, but i would be over the moon to get even the tiniest crumb of what’s happening over there given that they are Clearly Not in vacuo.

given the description of “untold stories happening in remnant during v9 and even beyond” i am wondering if the series will like, end around where the storyboard epilogue does—ie with the reunion after rwbyj return—again for the purpose of easing the narrative burden at the top of v9. i could even see it going as far as settling rwbyj into the New Normal in vacuo (as in, establishing up to the equivalent of where they’re at in rwby x jl pt 2), although that depends on how important the Explanations are narratively (the more important they are, the less likely they’ll be in rwby beyond bc you want to reserve critical scenes for the show proper)

the other possibility is that “and even beyond” means in the past, in which case we might get some “missing scene”-esque shorts set during previous volumes. which i think would be pretty neat.

i would love it if we got a spot or two focused on civilians rather than the main cast—for many reasons, vacuo is the ideal point in the narrative to start breaking down the hard boundaries between huntsmen and civilians and the CFVY novels focus quite a lot on non-huntsmen experiences, so i’m pretty optimistic that this will happen generally but i’d be stoked to directly get a glimpse through the eyes of an ordinary vacuan citizen or mantelian refugee with no connection to the plot whatsoever, and the relative low-stakes of an ancillary “untold (short) stories” series is the perfect place for that. fingers crossed.

in addition to the CFVY novels recap, i’m placing my bets on a short centered on qrow, oscar+ozma, ren, nora, emerald, winter and/or the schnees, robyn and the other happy huntresses, pietro+maria and whoever else is involved with converting amity into a battleship, arrival of aid from vale and mistral, glynda, (possibly) mercury+tyrian, and raven. plus tai if he’s left his cabin. that’s assuming like WOR-length shorts; if they’re longer then these can and probably will be combined more efficiently. but broadly speaking those are the important narrative gaps to fill in.

Neo and Jaune start not talking to each other for now. After a few months of working together, Neo suddenly starts opening up to Jaune. Jaune even starts to make her laugh a few times. They then started spending time together as friends. Neo then proceeds to start talking to everybody though they had a hard time considering she’s a mute. Neo then continues showing everyone kindness however other than Jaune no one else believed it.

Jaune started appreciating more and more. This caused her to start valuing him to the point it started to feel weird. She decided to tell Nora about but as Nora started understanding what she was feeling she was shocked, happy, and yet angry that Jaune was right.

Nora: (Damn it.) Well… Neo, what your feeling maybe has to do with… … love.

Neo: *turns red*

Nora: (Ruby is most definitely not going to want to hear this. Her pride wouldn’t be able to take it.)
