Thoughts- A couple months back some cool dude from back when I was really into the Mother community released his first full length LP. His name was Benjamin Carignan. He went by the artist name of Space Boyfriend. It was called Bug Spray. It was the closest I've ever felt to being actually gay. See, Ben's music is just full of... FEELINGS.This song, it's just pumped full with emotions. Loneliness, uncertainty, doubt, anger, curiosity, desire. The lyrics are from the mouth of a guy who doesn't know where to go, but knows he's unsatisfied by where he is and yet there's this nagging voice in our heads that's telling us to stay, and keeps doubting our decisions. That's something we've all felt several times, right? Do you really like your friends? Are you really happy with the job you have? Are you sure this is the school you were dreaming of? The lyrics alone would put this song in at the top of my list, but it's Ben's vocals that really sell it. He sounds distant, out of tune with the world, unsatisfied, just about ready to cry. It transforms the lyrics from words from some very nice, catchy pop song to genuine, real. I haven't heard a more emotional performance since the heyday of Motown. It's a song that stabbed me in the heart and kept twisting the knife while sobbing and kissing my face saying "I love you, I'm sorry. I love you, I'm sorry. I love, fuck I'm sorry." What I'm trying to say is that is that I love this song and it makes me a very sad Enoch.
