Y'all, Ice Emperor and Emperor Garmadon situations are ganuinely so fucking similar like:

-Were good guys before death/disappearance

-Had a memory loss (Garm due to resurrection bringing back only the Oni half and Zane due to Vex wiping his memory)

-Were corrupted by an outside force (Zane by the scroll, Garm by the venom)

-Someone else was constantly pulling the strings on the background, puppeting them (Vex and Harumi)

-Easily manipulated (memory loss and corruption placing them in a vulnerable position)

-Lloyd being involved in defeating them (give this man a break already)

-Both created a dangerous being that was heavily involved in controlling/destroying the area they ruled (Boreal and Colossus)

So basically after s11 Zane would be capable of understanding the situation Garmadon was in.

The real tragedy of the Oni trilogy is how Lloyds image of his father became corrupt by Emperor Garmadon and Harumi. He tries and fails to make the distinction between who garmadon is now and what he was before the resurrection long into crystallized

He is scared just by the knowledge that Garm is out there some where, and scared of the mere idea that he could be like him or have similarities to him. And yet when they finally meet he is still frustrated his dad never attempted to reach out, despite that fear

His need for his dad and his dad’s absence has been a constant throughout the entirety of Ninjagos run, even into the movie

What if the Devourer didn’t make Garmadon evil but instead messed with his frontal lobe?

In humans the frontal lobe is responsible for impulse control and the ability to tell right from wrong

While we know Garmadon isn’t human his biological make up is similar enough to reproduce with humans so we can safely make the assumption with this being about legos that he can have a frontal lobe

So let’s say the devourers venom doesn’t actually make you evil

But it’s instead neurotoxin

And thanks to Garmadon’s genes he was a able to survive it but it caused brain damage

He no longer had a good grasp on what was right and wrong and when he could tell it was hard to fight the impulse to do the wrong thing (especially because the things he did often had short term reward so it immediately reinforced bad habits)

As far as we are aware Garmadon is the only person to have been bitten/survived being bitten by the great devourer

So we don’t have any comparable data

The FSM went oh no my baby isn’t naturally evil this thing made him evil because the fsm doesn’t know anything about brains

He couldn’t understand that these were Garmadon’s thoughts and choices and while yes Garmadon wasn’t naturally evil, he wasn’t fully capable of trying to be good

And to his credit he did try once he had something/ or rather someone that he didn’t want affected by his decisions

This also explains why is the way he is in sons of Garmadon on

Lloyd was able to heal his brain when he casted out the devourer venom but when Harumi summoned him he had been actively dead, meaning that healed portion would’ve decayed and then some which is why he was so unhinged

Garmadon was never evil ha just had brain damage

Wusako rivalry is much better than Wusako romance. Just the idea of these two being extremely petty to each other since day one is entertaining to me. They only get along because they both care for Garm. Wu can literally sense when Misako insults him and it happens a lot. Lloyd would constantly hear both his mother and his uncle bad mouthing each other and would not know what to do
