Hey Raven, are you going to watch the upcoming new Disney movie "Wish"?

I've seen mixed reviews, but i'm lowkey excited since we get to see a new Disney villain, especially since Disney got really lame villains after all the old classic movies!

Have you seen the trailer for the movie? What are your thoughts so far?

I saw Wish with a friend recently! I'll give my thoughts on the trailers here (in case you don't want spoilers for the film itself) and put my full thoughts beneath the cut (if you're okay with spoilers).

Looks-wise, I think Disney was definitely trying to go for something more stylistic and painting-esque for this?? And while I commend the effort, it definitely doesn't look as interesting as Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish. The humor also definitely isn't for me, it feels very "quirky" and "so relatable" (Asha reminds me of Mirabel in that sense), and other times too juvenile (like the goat butt joke). I do like the idea of the villain passing as a good guy in-universe and actually being vain and selfish, especially since the marketing is making it clear who the bad guy is rather than making it a "twist" villain scenario. Not sure if I like Magnifico himself though??? All the ads with him in it feel like Disney is trying too hard to make people thirst for him. From just the trailers, Magnifico does seem interesting and like more of a return to the traditional "villain" rather than the protagonist having to deal with an existential dread or concept.

***Spoilers for Wish beneath the cut!***

Right off the bat, my first impression is the narrative is SO ham-fisted. Within the first 5 minutes alone we're establishing so much information and in such a clunky, unnatural way. Like... Asha says hi to her friends but then they robotically have a dialogue where they overtly call each other "friends" just so it's clear to the audience (when in reality no one talks like that). It's telling instead of showing, and this happens sooo many times early in the film.

Could not for the life of me remember the friends or their names. There were just too many of them when 1 or 2 would have been just fine to move the plot along and to help Asha. (Yes, I know they're a reference to the 7 Dwarves but it's STILL not necessary to have so many just for a reference.)

Bruh, the makeup in this movie is on point. Every time there was a close up of a character, I was staring at their eye makeup (especially Asha and the queen's).

Asha as a protagonist was... fine? She feels very close to Mirabel and at times Rapunzel in her character. I didn't dislike her by any means, but she didn't reinvent what it means to be a Disney protag. Her motivations also come off as… really “out of nowhere”. We’re told she “cares too much”, but she initially only wants to save the wishes of her mom and grandpa; she randomly decides she has to free ALL wishes midmovie and that was jarring. There could have been a smoother transition. Instead, it was abrupt and Asha didn’t change in any meaningful way. Even her “I want” song was vague (what exactly is “to have something more for us than this”?) and didn’t connect well with her character.

I do really like her design though! Her freckles, earrings, and how her hair moves are my favorite details.

Valentino was not as annoying as I thought he would be. Still didn't care for his sass and brand of humor, but at least he helped out a few times.

I called it, the film is trying so hard to make Magnifico "hot" 🤡 I don't get it but okay, Mouse. I see your effort.

Loved his fit!! Very cool cloak and diamond/star motifs everywhere! His lab and study was also fun to look at.

I quite liked the moments when the queen talked to her husband and tried to smooth things over with him. “I can fix him energy”— Their relationship seemed very genuine at the start of the movie.

NOT THE WISH NEPOTISM...

If they were going for “sympathetic” with Magnifico, it didn’t work. He gave this backstory about how he was traumatized before + left as the only survivor of a great tragedy and so now he wants to use his magic to prevent that from happening to anyone else. Thing is, we only ever know about this via his word and staring at a half-burnt tapestry. We never see the event on screen, nor what was left of the tapestry. I was expecting a twist where it’s revealed that he lied all this time about his backstory and rewrote history so he could more easily manipulate the people of the kingdom he founded and live out the fantasy of being worshipped as a “good guy”. That was such a missed opportunity!!

Something else I was thinking of (this was during “This is the Thanks I get” was??? Maybe Magnifico started off genuinely good but became worn down over time as people’s wishes grew more selfish and they became ungrateful for what they had?? Then he could have become bitter and disillusioned by the behavior of his people.

Another idea is maybe Magnifico was “villainous” only in Asha’s eyes, since they don’t agree on how to best handle granting wishes. This would be more of a clash of ideologies rather than the traditional Obvious Evil vs Obvious Good that Disney is so known for, but hey, it could be a neat evolution of their storytelling from classic fairy tale roots.

This is to say that there were so many more interesting directions they could have gone with Magnifico’s motives, character, and portrayal 😭 but the second half of the movie never commits to any of these, they just blame his complete insanity and turn to the dark side on Forbidden Magic which is such a cop-out.

The trailers gave away the twist that Magnifico was the villain. It wasn’t revealed until like the second song into the movie. Would’ve worked better as an on-the-spot reveal rather than part of the marketing, in my opinion.

When they showed the wishes, the TWST fan in my was shouting, "OMG IT'S WISH UPON A STAR, THE LIMITED TIME STORY EVENT FROM THE HIT DISNEY MOBILE GACHA GAME TWISTED WONDERLAND!!!"

As Wish is Disney's anniversary film for 100 years, there were tooons of easter eggs scattered throughout. (I had fun looking for them!) Some were visual (I saw Aurora's dress, Snow White’s well, Peter's Pan's costume, Ursula's green smokey hands, Asha's robes resembling those of the Fairy Godmother, etc.) or extended imagery/scenes (Asha recreates Mulan's dinner and “Reflection" scenes), others were more overt lines of dialogue (Magnifico says the "Mirror, Mirror" lines along with others, a deer named “Bambi”, Valentino mentions an animal metropolis in reference to Zootopia, etc.).

In theory, the wish magic sounds cool but has so much that isn't explained??? And yeah, it's magic so it technically doesn't have to be. However, there are things not explained even when it is important to the plot. For example, Magnifico crushes some wishes and seems to absorb their power for himself (including the wish of Asha's MOM, so you'd think this would be important)? The consequence of this is that the wish's owners... become sad??? Okay, what are the long-term effects??? Why isn’t this fully explored?? But then later in the film we see the same people whose wishes were crushed... regenerate their wish??? So what, he has to keep reaping them??? And why are the wishes only taken at 18 years old? What if a wish changes? Ironically, the townspeople of Rosas have a scene where they question the technicalities of this wish magic. Magnifico essentially tells them to shut up, and it kinda felt like Disney was telling us to not question their lore www

It was weird that they never fully explored the ramifications of going without your wish. You’d think they’d show us people without ambition or hope (which would incentivize Asha to return their wishes), but everyone seems blissfully happy without their wishes?? The only exception is Asha’s friend that betrays her (cannot for the life of me remember his name), and that’s namely because his asshole friends keep ragging on him for it.

I thought the movie was going to go in a “you can make your own wish come true!!” direction but NOPE, turns out it’s just magic. Felt like Disney unintentionally wrote a whole movie about "wishes not coming true unless some big powerful entity allows it to come true” (Asha literally becomes the fairy godmother of Rosas at the end, making her ultimately no different than Magnifico)… ie a metaphor for how Disney owns so many properties it practically owns our childhoods www

"The power of friendship saves the day" ending 🤣 It was very Paper Mario ending-esque...

A song saving the day though?? It’s giving the Illumination Lorax film…

I was right about the humor. Too "quirky" and/or juvenile for me.

Animation was alright? Nothing awful about it, it just didn't feel as detailed or as experimental as other films with a similar style.

Songs were mid, which checks out with the recent Disney music excluding We Don't Talk About Bruno--

Some of the lyrics however were awful. “I let you live here for free and I don’t even charge you rent” is redundant. “So I throw caution to every warning sign” means you’ll show more caution than usual, not that you’ll forego caution. The correct expression is “throw caution to the wind”. Etc, etc, etc.

There was a cute after credits scene where they reveal that Asha's 100 year old grandpa (same age as Disney omg) wrote the "When You Wish Upon a Star" theme, which was sweet since his wish was "wanting to make a mark".

THE BEST PART OF THE MOVIE WAS STAR!! It was very cute (partly because it couldn't talk and just jingled and giggled, I was dreading another annoying mascot animal voice) and reminds me of my own pet… The way Star infused everything with glitter and formed unique shapes with the red twine was so fun 😭 I'M A STAR STAN, IT WAS ADORABLE AND KINDA BRATTY AND I'M LIVING FOR IT

Decent ideas, "meh" execution. Enchanted and Shrek did it better in terms of self-aware, fairy tale defying stories. It felt as though the movie was trying to deliver a profound message but got lost in the sauce of making as making Disney references possible and didn't fully commit to actually saying something meaningful. As a result, the film feels somewhat… hollow.

That one friend betraying Asha was the biggest surprise in the film but I still saw it coming 😂 I do get where he’s coming from though (being worried that his wish won’t ever come true) but it also felt like his conflict wasn’t resolved??? It might have gone better if the movie actually fully tried to push the “you can make your own wish come true” message (to reinvigorate the traitor to make his dreams a reality on his own) but they don’t 💦

Wish didn’t end up being “the wishing star’s origin story” because not once did anyone question where Star came from or why it was different from other stars (or what the significance of Magnifico blotting out the other stars was).

I think the people that would enjoy this movie are the people that are already highly invested in Disney and the nostalgia of it.

... Anyway, stan Star 🤩 (and the talking mushrooms 🍄)

Encantober Day 8: Question

Based off a wonderful fanart someone drew a while ago. I don't remember who the artist is and can't find the post, but all credit to them for the idea and thanks for the inspiration!

“What a day,” Pepa groaned, slinging her bag over her shoulder.

Julieta hummed her agreement. “At least it’s finally over.”

“Don’t forget, tomorrow we have a big test, so make sure you go over-“ The rest of their teacher’s instructions were drowned out in the overlapping chatter of their fellow students.

“Study what?” Julieta frowned. “I didn’t hear what she said.”

Meanwhile, Pepa looked horrorstricken. “We have a test tomorrow?” She squeaked as they were pushed out the door by the wave of students.

Julieta nodded. “Señora Sanchez mentioned it yesterday. Wait, were you not at school yesterday? Where were you?”

Pepa shifted the bag to her other shoulder. “I had crop duty.” She rolled her eyes. “If I’d only known we were having a test, it would have been way easier to make it rain.” She mimed crying, pulling her fingers down her cheeks.

Julieta studied her sympathetically. “I just wish we’d heard what was going to be on the test.” She let out an exasperated sigh. “I don’t have time to go over everything we learned since the last test. Especially since I have to make my afternoon rounds before dinner. Unless we figure out what’s on it, we’re done for.”

Pepa was scowling as Julieta talked, but her expression cleared when she was done. “It’s almost like…we need a way to see the future?” She suggested, eyes glinting deviously.

Julieta clapped her hands joyfully. “Oh, Pepa, you’re a genius!” She squeezed Pepa in a tight hug.

The church bells chimed the time.

Julieta yelped. “I have to go! Let’s meet up after dinner.” She ran down the road leading home.

After dinner, the two girls waited by Bruno’s room, hoping to ambush him. They hadn’t seen him at dinner, but that wasn’t so unusual. People needed help from their gifts at any time of day, including during meals and school. Mamá said it was their duty to be helpful and share the magical gifts they were given, because why else would they have them? So they missed some meals and days of school here and there. Helping the town was more important.

“Where is he?” Pepa hissed from her hiding place. “I thought he’d be back by now.”

Julieta shrugged. “I haven’t seen him all day.” Her brow furrowed in thought. “Wait…did you see him at school?”

“I don’t think so.” Pepa wracked her brain. “You were there yesterday; did you see him?”

Julieta shook her head, lips tightening in worry. “Come to think of it…I haven’t seen him at school since a couple days ago.”

Pepa winced. “That’s all the more reason to find him.” She gasped, eyes going wide. “You don’t think he…” Her eyes darted towards the door significantly.

Julieta covered her mouth but recovered quickly. “Only one way to find out.” She knocked on the door, quietly but decisively.

No one answered. The girls stood at the door waiting for so long, Julieta had raised her hand to knock again, when it flew open in their faces.

“Eh?” Bruno stood there, wearing a rumpled ruana. “What are you guys doing here?”

Julieta lowered her fist. “Bruno.” The relief was evident in her voice. “Do you have any idea what time it is?”

He rolled his eyes. “You sound like mamá.”

“Do you?” She persisted, voice growing shriller.

“Easy.” Bruno covered a long yawn with his hand. “No, I don’t know what time it is. I’ve kind of been sleeping.”

“Were you sleeping all day?” Pepa asked incredulously.

Bruno appeared taken aback. “All day? Is it night already?”

Julieta rested her forehead in her hand, letting out a long sigh. “Bruno…you missed school. You missed dinner. We haven’t seen you since yesterday. What happened?”

Bruno groaned. “You know how everyone’s been getting engaged lately?”

“Tell me about it,” Pepa huffed. “I’ve had no less than a dozen people ask me to make sure the weather was good on their wedding day. As if I’ll remember when it’s so far away!”

Julieta placed a hand on her shoulder gently. “Yes, we know.” She waved her hand, prompting him to continue talking.

“Well they’ve all been asking me for visions of how their marriages are going to turn out. Let me tell you, it is not easy trying to have that many visions on demand!” He crossed his arms, the gesture rumpling his ruana even more. “That’s why I’ve been sleeping so much. I’m exhausted!”

Julieta winced, exchanging a look with Pepa. “We’re sorry to hear that, Bruno.”

Bruno narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing them. “Why do I get the feeling you didn’t just come to check up on me?”

Pepa bounced from foot to foot, pressing her lips shut before bursting out, “Señora Sanchez said we’re having a test tomorrow, except neither of us know what’s on it because we’ve been missing school due to gift duty and we were hoping you could tell us what was going to be on the test?” The words tumbled out all at once until she ran out of breath.

Bruno scratched his head, confused. “How am I supposed to know? I haven’t even been at school all week!”

Pepa glared at him, letting out a disbelieving noise. “You…can see…the future.” She gritted out impatiently.

“Oh. Right.” Bruno rubbed his arm nervously. “Sorry, I just woke up.”

“Has your gift woken up yet?”

“What Pepa means,” Julieta cut in with a pointed look at Pepa, “is, do you feel up to having another vision? Don’t worry, this one isn’t as important. No disasters will happen if you can’t.”

“Speak for yourself,” Pepa muttered darkly. “Pretty sure mamá will have some disasters in store for me if I fail another math test.”

Bruno stepped aside, opening the door wider. “Seeing as I spent all day sleeping, I should be okay for something like this.”

He waited for Julieta to pass before adding to Pepa out of the corner of his mouth, “Besides, my butt is on the line here too. I don’t even know what we learned this week.”

Pepa snorted, following Julieta to a wide area in the middle of the room. “Is that…sand?” She eyed the small green pile distastefully.

“It helps me with my visions,” Bruno explained. “The visions end up- well, you’ll see.” He tidied up the sand into a neater pile and joined his sisters. “Okay, we have to hold hands.”

Skeptical, the two girls extended their hands to take his.

Bruno shifted their huddle so the sand was in the middle of them. “Now we have to ask for what we want to see. What was the question again?”

“What’s going to be on Señora Sanchez’s test tomorrow?” Pepa reminded him, raising her voice anxiously.

“Right.” He squeezed his eyes closed and repeated the question. “What’s going to be on Señora Sanchez’s test tomorrow?” He yelled, his voice hard to hear over the sudden rush of wind surrounding them.

The wind picked up the sand, swirling it around them.

Julieta and Pepa eyed it apprehensively. “What does that mean?”

Bruno’s eyes flew open, glowing green. “Uh…it looks like squiggles?” He offered.

“That’s not helpful!”

Slowly, the sand squiggles rearranged to form…

“Numbers. There’s definitely going to be numbers.”

“We knew that, Bruno; it’s a math test,” Julieta snapped. “But what lesson?”

A longer squiggle snaked around some of the numbers, forming a sideways upside-down capital L shape.

Bruno squinted. “It looks like-“

“Long division.” Julieta swallowed hard.

“Long division?” Pepa groaned. “I’m awful at long division. How am I going to learn it in time?”

“Don’t worry, you can look at my notes,” Julieta reassured her. She dropped her siblings’ hands. “Come on, we need to go study.”

The sand had crystallized into a glowing green plaque showing the topic of their math test. Bruno held it out towards his sisters. “Here, if you want it.”

“No need, I remember.” Julieta hugged him quickly. “Thanks, Bruno!”

“Yeah, thanks, Bruno,” Pepa echoed the sentiment.

“Good luck studying, guys.” Bruno walked them towards his door.

Julieta paused. “You’re not going to study?”

Bruno smacked his forehead. “I completely forgot I have to take this test too.”

“Ay, Bruno.” Julieta shook her head in mock disappointment. “It’s okay, I can share with you too.”

He exhaled in relief. “Thanks, Juli.”

“Come on, guys.” Pepa tugged their sleeves. “We’d better get started.”

It was going to be a long night.

i think that we all agree that the family should apolozies bruno but not everyone agree in WHAT they should apolozies for.

Chapter 7 Husband Knows Best

It's been a week since you found Adrian and Elson and they've been paying you some extra bit of attention. Whether or not it Elson getting extra playtime with you or Adrian purring into you neck leaving sucking on or leaving love bites. You were not neglected on any level in fact that's what your doing now, You were sitting on your couch letting Elson kiss your face while Adrian was squeezing your thighs and leaving bites on them.

They both had Heart eyes on you because they Seem to love you so much, but what you didn't know was that The two were glaring at each other for, their was an unspoken war between the two on who gets to be your baby boy and one is not about to lose to the other not without a fight at least. Which led up to here you being loved on by the two littles, one Sunday morning just when you Start to return there affections it when a loud noise was heard Loud Noise infront of the treehouse.

Three of you became alert and got up from you spots. You grabbed various sharp knifes, some sleep darts and a mace. Elson activated his Ice magic and Adrian had a list of spell attacks to use on who ever is Invading their home. You then turn to the two boys...

(Y/N) you.........stay.......together....protect......each.......other....... Guard........Home

That was all you told then before stepping on the Lift before running off into the woods. Elson and Adrian watch as you went on Surveillance patrol.

(Adrian) she's making us stay here while she goes towards the danger?!

(Elson) Yeah but Don't worry 🧊 mommy has got this

(Adrian) But what of she doesn't we need to go after her!

(Elson) she's Done this multiple times Already she'll be fine

(Adrian) Well I don't think so we need to follow her

(Elson) first of all with what legs? And second of all she told us to stay and watch the treehouse.

(Adrian) Excuse me human?!

Just then a loud thud was heard from inside the treehouse. The two turn their heads and raise their guards.

(Adrian) (whisper shout) How did they get in the house?

(Elson) (whisper) just stay back I'll check it out

Elson left Adrian to check the hallway he had a sheild up to block any on coming attack then he heard rattling in the cabinet. Elson continued to walk slowly making ice in his hands ready to swing until the cabinet open and he saw

Elson paused and Sighed in relief

(Elson) oh you gave me quite a Fright little one

The little Chameleon smiled at Elson before he felt a Hard metal smack on the back of his head. The Last thing Elson heard was

Meanwhile Adrian sat in the kitty pool, he was hyper aware and Elson hasn't come back yet. Now Adrian can care less about Elson but he was important to you so he called out in the hallway

(Adrian) oi Ice human you there?

Then a shadow was Approaching

(Adrian) oh good did you find out what was making that noise yet?

(???) Oh he did

Then out came the unknown figure dragging the unconscious Elson with a Case iron pan and alot of hair

(???) Now if you want to keep that stupid tail attached to your skinny little body you will tell me ALL ABOUT HER.

³You were majorly confused like there was clearly a loud noise, but you didn't find anything. You thought you may have took a wrong turn except you lived here for years, so you know these woods like the back of your hand. Their was no way you were lost you didn't find anything unusual so you went back to the house still checking your Surroundings until you heard a

(Y/N)!!!!

Your eyes widened fully Understanding exactly what has happened. One things for sure Adrian never ever EVER call you by your name. You ran as fast as you could speeding back to your home and quickly getting on the Lift and pulled yourself up. You where about to run into the living room when you stopped in the hallway. You stalked slowly behind the Couch when you saw the boys. Adrian face was red with tears he was clearly getting tortured a bit as he had cuts on his arms and bruises on his face and Elson was unconscious with a lump forming on his head. You were now hoping he didn't get a Concussion and finally you looked to see a man. He wore purple everything and was barefoot and boy let me tell you, you had never seen a man with hair that can go for miles in fact you never seen anybody with that much blonde hair before in fact you barely had seen anybody other then The boys and Jasmir and now this guy.

(???) You know this would be easier for you if you tell me all I want to know about her

(Adrian)(in pain) and you know I'll say the same thing Screw you human!

Just then he the taller man jab a Fork in Adrian's tail

(???) Last chance little fish boy

The Male put out what appeared to be a Bucher's Knife

(???) TELL ME WE'RE IS SHE?!?!?!

You were Flattered that Adrian was Refraining from telling the taller male about you. He was such a sweet baby boy. You reminded yourself to reward him later for his loyalty to you❤️❤️❤️ but for now the taller male was about to kill one of your special boys. You snapped your fingers to get his attention. The male turned around to see you and his eyes turned into glowing red Hearts as he gets a eye full of you.

(???) Oh there you are

(Adrian) Y/N Get out of here this human guy is Crazy!!!

(???) Oh Y/N is that your Name my love?

The male got up and slowly approached you

(???) Oh my sweet sweet wife what have they done to you

You blankly stared at the blonde wondering what he was talking

(???) Wife you went out into the cold Cruel world and not you hurt

(???) But Don't worry your Big stronge loving husband is here to take care of you

(???) Your husband will do everything he can to protect you and shower you with love and affection.

(???) I will cook and clean and care for our children and you won't have to lift a finger

(???) And all you have to do is stay inside the house and never leave again. We will be together until the day we DIE.

Adrian was looking at the human male with serious concern like he thought Elson was mentally ill this guys seem to have lost almost all his screws. He's shocked this guy is still functioning.

(???) So forget all those Scrubies Stay inside with Hubby.

Husband knows best🎵🎶🎵

Ok Now Adrian was actually scared and especially scared for you. This guy's is delusional and unhinged I mean so are you and you kinda trapped him here too but you wanted to to release him and He wanted to stay. Rasputin then passed out infront of you and Adrian. Adrian look at you and then at Rasputin and then back at you. Their was no telling how he feels about this so he didn't say anything. Then the two of you heard a groan on the couch

A few hours later you all were sitting at the table ready for dinner. As you feared Elson had a minor Concussion but the swelling on his head went down. Adrian was once again covered in bandages and had some of Elson's ice over his eye along with a eyepatch. Then on the other side of the table was a Rasputin who was tied up in his own hair arms and legs firmly tied together. Rasputin was not disappointed as he knew his so called wife was smart you have served Chicken, Mash potatoes, steamed vegetables and freshly sqeeze orange juice.

Meet My and @optimistic-violinist 's Encanto OC, Razili Edel from Take Back the Kingdom (sort of)

Full Name: Razili Edel

Age: 37

Height: 5'2"

Eye Color: Brown

Hair Color: Nearly black/ dark brown

Occupation: Pirate/Witch/Former Queen

Languages: Yiddish (first language), German, Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, Greek

Voice (and face) claim: Ofra Haza

Appearance: Light brown skin. She has long curly hair that she likes to wear down when practical. It’s usually not practical. She frequently wears it in either a single braid or a high ponytail with some sort of bandana. There is a scar on the bridge of her nose as well as one on her left eyebrow. Goes back and forth between skirts and loose fitting trousers and wears light colored long sleeved shirts with gathered cuffs and her stays on top. Her stays are nice enough she doesn’t usually bother with a third layer outside of her extremely recognizable purple pirate coat.

Relationship to canon: Bruno’s wife in our fantasy kingdom AU. It’s… complicated. Long story short, Bruno is immortal and is waiting for the kids to show up in the future, he doesn’t know when he sent them and 200 years in (including 150 years of fighting the conquistadors), he is very Not Okay™ and in serious danger of succumbing to his pretty much constant suicidal thoughts when he meets her.

General: Razili is at her heart a kind and nurturing person. However, she is also fiercely protective of the innocent/downtrodden and does not shy away from taking lives when she deems it necessary. She has lived through a lot of heartache but she doesn’t let it make her bitter. (In our AU magic comes from heartache but it’s only usable as magic if the person can be at peace with/accept the heartache. Razili is the one that taught Bruno this and helped him reconnect with his magic after being cut off from it for 200 years.) Due to her backstory and emotionally healthy outlook on life Razili is an incredibly powerful witch.

History: Razili is the youngest daughter of the king and queen of מקלט בטוח (Safe Haven (according to google, if anyone knows better please correct us) Like the Encanto, Safe Haven is a hidden magical kingdom. It’s an island in the Mediterranean that was founded by Jews from Germany fleeing the First Crusade (1096-1099) by the time Razili was born they had lost a decent amount of the traditions of their ancestors. One of the things she did after leaving Safe Haven was reconnect with her Jewish heritage and faith.

When Razili was 25 she was the one member of the family (She had at least 2 brothers, we haven’t really fleshed her family out that much) to stay behind in case tragedy struck, which it did on that fateful trip, making her the next queen. She nearly married the son of one of her advisors but a week before their wedding she discovered that he and his father had been the masterminds behind her family’s deaths. Razili killed them both but as he was dying the son cursed Razili to freeze to the brink of death once a year for the rest of her life.

She ruled alone for a few years before picking a successor and leaving to travel the world. In 1698 on her first visit to the Caribbean she gets caught by witch hunters who are rounding up magic users to sell into slavery. This is where she meets Bruno who had also been caught. They go through a series of odd events together and end up as pirate co-captains. After the events of a fic we will eventually publish that includes a whole lot of character growth for Bruno, tracking down the witch hunters, angst, pining, UST, and a whole lot of denial on Bruno’s part, they get married.

There is sooooo much more to her that we are excited to eventually share. As for now Razili appears in the magic lesson chapter of Take Back the Kingdom, this valentine's day oneshot, and one of my entries for Encantober day 4: Cold

What twst version of disney characters would you like to see?

I think the one I want to see the most is an official twisted Mother Gothel from Tangled! ^^ I feel like her "gaslight gatekeep girlboss" maternal attitude would translate into a very interesting character in the world of Twisted Wonderland. I've pretty much always had a preference for characters that use their intelligence and manipulation tactics over brute strength or magical powers to get what they want. Some other characters I wouldn't mind seeing in TWST (most of them are characters from films I personally enjoy):

Remy from Ratatouille (YES I WANT A RAT BOY BEASTMAN THAT COOKS FOOD. Plus, it could be a good excuse to go back to the City of Flowers (which is basically a fantasy France) AND MAYBE WE CAN SEE ROLLO AGAIN--)

Hiro and/or Baymax from Big Hero 6 (They'd be like the RSA counterpart to Ignihyde lol)

Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph (I have this very specific idea in my head for like a racing themed event where a random twisted Wreck-It Ralph is one of the candy go-kart mechanics--)

The whole Madrigal family from Encanto (Idk, I think there could be an interesting storyline? Like seeing how the one family of mages in a community can help it prosper... but at the same time, it puts pressure on the mages to perform to a certain standard.)

Giselle from Enchanted (I feel like we kind of already got the "TWST boys dealing with a delusional Disney princess" dynamic with Eliza/the Ghost Bride, but I have a really personal attachment to Giselle so I want more rep for my girl 😤)

Encantober 2023 Day 8: Question

Julieta has been pregnant with her second child for seven months now, and she has been showered with nothing but affection and support from her family and the rest of the Encanto. She was getting close to the end of her pregnancy, which meant Alma had to bring the spare arepas and take her place in healing the village until her child was seven months old.

Knowing that she was the only one pregnant this time around made Julieta feel a little bit nervous. During her last pregnancy, she had Pepa pregnant with her, so they could work through their pregnancies together. Now, she was on her own. She did not have her sister to let her pregnancy hormones out with her this time; but at least she can support her in other ways. Now that her daughter just turned two years old, and her niece will be two in two weeks, she has even more support than she did in her first pregnancy.

Isabela has especially been excited about the new baby since Julieta announced her pregnancy. She and Dolores have been pretending to feed and change their baby dolls to practice being the best big sister and cousin they could be. Seeing them as excited as they were about the new baby was enough for Julieta to know Isabela was going to be the best big sister and Dolores was going to be the best big cousin.

It was not until one day when the toddlers were playing in the living room and Julieta and Pepa were watching over them when the sisters got the question that would shock them for a while. They did not think they were going to get this question until the girls were at least four years old.

Julieta sat on the couch with Pepa as they watched over their daughters coloring together. When the girls were finished with their pictures, they gave them to their mothers and they looked at them. Isabela’s drawing was of herself and the baby outside on a sunny day next to a tree. She was giving the baby a flower in the picture. Dolores’s picture was of herself and Isabela holding the baby, with Dolores singing a song to her.

“These are such beautiful pictures, mija! We’re going to hang these in the nursery so all three of you can see them,” said Julieta.

“Gracias, mami,” Isabela replied.

The girls climbed onto the couch to sit on their mothers’ laps and hugged them as tightly as they could. Knowing that the baby will have pictures of their big sister and cousin will let her know that she has so much love in this house. Julieta knew the baby will love Isabela and Dolores just as much as they will love her.

“Mami, Tia Juli, we have a question,” Dolores pointed out.

“What is it, mi vida?” Pepa asked.

“Where do babies come from?” Isabela asked.

That was when Julieta and Pepa’s hearts sank in shock. “You want to know… where babies come from?” said Julieta.

“Si.”

“What made you think of that?”

“Baby Luisa is in your tummy. How did the baby get inside you?”

The sisters’ hearts sank even more. They know the stork story is out of the question because Isabela asked how the baby got inside her tummy. They needed to think of something, and fast; because when Isabela asks a question, that’s all she would ask for the entire day. She wanted to know why this and why that. So avoiding the question and changing the subject was not an option for them.

“Querida, do you remember when your abuela told you girls the story of the stork a couple months ago?”

“Si, we remember,” Dolores chimed in.

“Well, there’s more to that story. When a stork comes and delivers that baby, he uses his magic to let the baby grow in a mommy’s tummy for nine months. Then, when the baby is ready to come out, the doctors have to help get the baby out, which is why you see lots of babies being born at the hospital.”

“Is that like where our magic comes from?” Isabela asked.

“It’s kind of where our magic comes from, except the magic is spread all over the Encanto and beyond.” Pepa added.

“So I came from the stork’s magic?” Dolores asked.

“Yes, you did.”

“And me?” Isabela asked.

“You too,” Julieta replied.

“And baby Luisa came from the stork’s magic too?”

“Si, mi amor.”

“I can’t wait for baby Luisa to be born so I can tell her that she came from magic just like us and Casita!”

Isabela and Dolores made their way off of their mothers’ laps and ran upstairs with their pictures. They made their way into the nursery and slammed the door to play some more. Julieta and Pepa sighed in relief when they saw their daughters satisfied with the answer they were given and moving on with a new activity. Crisis averted.
