Dead Language Expert

Danny never thought that he could "major" in languages, and get a job as a translator. But apparently knowing all the dead languages ​​by default and being able to time travel with the help of your ghost tutor was pretty useful outside of Amity.

It happened purely by chance, he was walking through a museum and started laughing because of a mistake in one of the sentences that completely changed the meaning of the text. The museum manager, of course, did not believe him, since many people had said that the piece was "impossible to translate". But he study it anyway.

Days later they were looking for him to translate all the things from that time. And he just carried on with it, in many more civilizations. In some cases he even asked for a few trips to the past to Clockwork to verify.

It got to a point where the wizards, heroes and villains over the world knew him as "the translator of dead languages" and some of them even tried to kidnap him to perform a summoning ritual. Danny rolled his eyes and easily freed himself, but the League assigned him an "escort" anyway.

Exasperated, the halfa escaped from his escorts and continued his work as normal. Superman almost fell out of his chair at the Watchtower meeting when he was informed that the boy had translated the language of Krypton and other missing planets. Besides having managed to lose both the Flash and Green Latern, what the fuck?

An old collection is finally shown again at the British Museum after being left in boxes for a few decades.

By coincidence one Tucker Foley, reincarnation of a Pharaoh, notices among the collection several items that used to belong to him. It doesn't take much (or anything) to convince Sam and Danny to go on a... Field trip yup field trip with him to London, a little vacation for his 24th birthday if you will. What do you mean his birthday isn't before several months? That's blasphemy.

They simply came during the day as to control the perimeter (and make a list of other artefacts that would suddenly be returned to their rightful place.)

They could not have planned that one Ra's Al Ghul also had several of his own personal items that he wished to retrieve among the very same collection. Or that he would decide to not only get them back himself but also at the same time.

Black was supposed to have a final form, but I scrapped that idea and stayed with his humanoid form. (Inspired by Ramiel from Evangelion.)

also I learned a very funny folk story about the pont du gard: according to the story the builder who was assigned to build a bridge across the river tried and failed many times (each time his bridges were destroyed), and eventually in despair makes a deal with the devil, that the devil will build a bridge in return for the soul of the first being that crossed the bridge. however the builder catches a hare and releases it onto the bridge, and when the devil realizes he's been tricked he grabs the hare and flings it against the stonework, where it's stuck to the side ever since. hence the pont du gard itself

which would be a fun story HOWEVER the '''hare''' the story is referring to is apparently referring to THIS real life carving:

which is in fact not a hare but a stone fascinus originally put there by the romans (who actually built the aqueduct) to prevent bad luck

Artemis will disassemble and clean a fountain pen with the same level of intensity as Butler disassembling and cleaning one of his guns.

#artemis fowl #Artemis will just automatically include the upkeep of Butler's his mother's Juliet's and Holly's fountain pens in the upkeep of his own #Holly and Juliet tend not to use their pens often (which they have because Artemis gifted them pens) so Artemis will help whenever they vis #visit. Then with Butler it is largely due to the man not having the habit of building 'frivolous' rituals of care into his day so Artemis w #will care for the pens as Butler does (at the end of it all) adore the devices #with Angeline I feel Artemis is just so wholly dedicated to that kind of small act of care when it comes to his mother #(thinking of him composing a unique ringtone for her calls) #I think Fowl Sr is more of a ballpoint pen or a pencil fellow and Artemis will sometimes include his father in the hobby by cleaning #and repairing pens in his father's study while the man works (so he will have the experience of being included through the upkeep) #Tim does appreciate when Artemis shows off some of the special/exclusive inks he purchases #he finds the beauty of the ink a much more accessible aspect of the hobby #that diane ackerman quote about crying in a museum while looking at a piece of yellow sulfur and thinking about how lucky we are to live on #a planet of a natural yellow that is so marvelously yellow #Artemis will do ink tests (when you get a new ink and experiment with it on good quality paper) when his father is in the room for this rea #reason

I crochet people stuffies for special occasions, and I always make sure to leave a little crocheted heart and a little note in a tiny envelope about how much I love them and how proud of them I am. In all likelihood, they will never see it, but I hope that one day they’ll sit in a museum and those people will know that our people were well loved.
