My beloved bf gifted me mario wonder for my bday and while this isn’t my first mario game bc I had the one on the ds-just sucked at it lol-im having a blast going through it since I always like playing other plaformers then my usual even if I’m always comfy with Mega Man. However, playing this along with other platformers made me realize mega man misses a common aspect in most platformers: collectibles tied to progression/general items to pick up in stages that aren’t upgrades.

Mega Man does have its fair share of items to pick up but almost always it’s a health or power upgrade. The general structure of Mega Man is less of jumping on enemies like others and more so being strong enough you can take down your enemies with your weapons, the usual challenge comes from fighting bosses without their weakness or tight platforming segments. Not to mention, the entire appeal of Mega Man’s structure is you can do bosses in any order, so having stuff like collecting a object for progression just to access the next stage or area would ruin that freedom. (Also in terms of if mega man would collect coins or rings or gems I’m not sure if that would fit either given he’s a robot… What would a robot collect unless it’s like stated it’s apart of his energy source or something? Or maybe screws? Even though that’s the currency in classic for just buying stuff)

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing since it gives mega man it’s own unique appeal and some people may not like other platformers compared to it-even if I say the challenge universally sticks so others are worth checking out, especially when in other games it’s waaaay easier to die despite how brutal mega man is with lives and Insta kill stuff-but it’s something I noticed when playing Mario and other platformers so I’m definitely gonna be rotating this for awhile.

#meg text #for once I’m rambling about games and not old anime #but god I’m rotating this hard because I’m like- picturing a mega man game like this ngl #idk if I’d go the lock progression route but it could be something like Klonoa or certain sonic games #where you can collect stuff but it’s completely optional even if you get cool unlockables #that way it doesn’t ruin the flow or free level select but each stage has more of a reason to revisit past “I missed one upgrade” #mega man is still super replayable though but having more stuff to collect I think would benefit it #I talked about it before-albeit I think on Twitter-but I really liked what gravity circuit did to the approach #having little guys you can recuse in each stage and they actually benefit you getting upgrades #Granted I also have no idea where like making a platformer mega man game like this would fit in the lore💀 #it would be weird to come after ZX so it either have to be a fuck off classic game or a new series completely #since testing a new approach like this even if they stuck to the structure could cause some mixed reactions #that said though the only aspect I really want implemented from other platformers aside from this is a new life system #cause g o d #I know if you grind enough enemies they’ll drop lives but it ain’t worth it half the time LMAO #it would be so much better if they either did no lives but a endless checkpoint system that could have consequences #or some way to implement the Mario/Klonoa route where after collecting 100 of one thing you get a life #or whatever sonic does because earlier sonic games love to hand you lives like it’s nothing

What do you think the best pet for Malleus would be? I want to say some kind of tortoise since some species can live for 80 to 150 or even 200 years.

I can just imagine him going on walks with it, and even when it gets really big he's still able to pick it up and carry it around.

Well, I don't necessarily think having a pet that lives for a long time would be the "best" for him specifically. This is because book 7 has a lot to do with Malleus having to learn to "let go" of the ones he loves. A pet is there to be your loving companion, yes--but is a loving companion what Malleus "needs" (for lack of a better term), or does he "need" to come to accept change? That's some food for thought!

That being said, I think it would benefit him to try out all kinds of pets, learning each of their unique behaviors and needs. He currently struggles to understand other races, and the act of having to adapt to taking care of animals with different expectations could help ease him into new mindsets and perspectives. It would help him "grow up" and broaden his horizons, in a sense.

If we had to settle on one animal, I think a raven or a crow would be the "obvious" answer since they're associated with Maleficent, the Disney character Malleus is twisted from. I don't exactly know what the implications of Malleus owning some kind of reptile as a pet are since aren't dragons also... reptiles... That'd be like saying a cat beastman has a cat for a pet. Doesn't that feel a little morally weird?? Especially since we learn in the Sunset Savana hometown event that beastmen’s ancestors are normal animals??? (I guess Gao-Gao Dragon-kun is a pet, but it’s virtual so I’m not sure if that truly counts.) Not to mention it's morbid to think about since Malleus was at one point going to be treated like a pet (an enemy human commander said he wanted to have a dragon as a steed).

Mmm, considering Twisted Wonderland is a world with magic, perhaps a phoenix could work? It is bird-like (to satisfy the raven/crow associated with Maleficent), lives a long time, but dies and is reborn anew every so often. If Malleus wants a companion that will be with him for a long time, then he's got it in a phoenix. Sooner or later though, he will have to face the inevitability of the passage of time and the change it brings with it... He can't always stay sheltered in the security that his friends and family will return to him or always be with him. Oops, my reply became depressing 💀

… Anyway, nothing can top Gao-Gao Dragon-kun, who will always be there for Malleus in good times and in bad! 🐉

He calms down after a second and asks her when she started dating her boyfriend lmao

Dazai is a bit hypocritical. He was a playboy once upon a time himself, but he lowkey isn't too thrilled with the idea of his daughter dating yet

He's just not really looking forward to possibly having to tolerate any rebelliousness that comes from his daughter (especially in favour of some random teenager)

He tells your daughter that she needs to be very careful with dating at her age because teenage boys can be cruel and whatever. But he also gives some good advice about infatuation and romance, and how if it doesn't last then it's not her fault, and stuff like that.

He promises to be nice if she decides to introduce him to her boyfriend one day (she had to nag him a little first lmao)

He also promises to deal with her boyfriend accordingly if he ever breaks her heart, which he'd play off as a joke afterwards but like...c'mon.

He'd be alright though, like he'd ask her (nice) questions about him, how did they meet, what's he like etc. because he does actually feel better when he sees that his daughter is happy :)

Dazai is honestly surprisingly chill about the whole thing despite his initial reaction, but he's ready to be less so if necessary

Chuuya:

This man trusts his daughter to carry out assassinations and infiltrate enemy gangs and shit, but teenage boys are different because they're far more evil

He lowkey starts interrogating her about him ("What's his name? Where does he live? What's he like? When did you start dating? What do his parents do?" and so on)

You have to tell him to give her the benefit of the doubt and that he can't just assume her boyfriend is a prick without any evidence

It's not that he thinks that at all, he's just super protective of her (it's ingrained in him, being a mafioso and all) and he knows teenage boys can be wicked sometimes

It's not like he's gonna kill your daughter's boyfriend if he breaks her heart or anything like that, but he'll definitely have a talk with him (talk = like, screaming at him probably)

You'd need to ease his nerves and remind him that you guys were also in the same spot as your daughter and her boyfriend once. When Chuuya thinks of it that way he's more alright with it

He does apologise to her eventually for kinda freaking out at first and reminds her that he respects her autonomy and stuff, but he also says to come straight to him if her boyfriend even looks at her the wrong way lmao

Chuuya was just surprised is all, but he's doing his best <3

Fyodor:

After his outburst, you and your daughter are just looking at him like...this is the first time you've yelled in your whole life

He apologises for it, and tells her that her news just caught him off-guard (and she's just as surprised as you are), and that he's actually happy for her.

He immediately starts looking into this guy and he'll find out everything about him (including blackmail) to make sure he's good enough for his daughter (Fyodor honesty seems to me the type to protect and spoil his kids a ton)

Fyodor is religious, but he's not like 'no premarital sex' religious, so he's not super strict about her dating boys as a teenager on its own

THAT BEING SAID he is so cautious and will definitely be the father who threatens their daughter's girlfriend. You have to tell him that uhh...it's not cool to threaten a teenager

Her boyfriend would probably honestly be too worried to hurt your daughter after meeting Fyodor because...holy shit, imagine having Fyodor as a father-in-law.

If Fyodor does end up approving of her boyfriend, his mind probably immediately goes to the future and grandchildren and stuff omg (he momentarily forgets that they've been dating for what, like a week? AND THEY'RE KIDS FYODOR)

Overall, he's...exactly how you might expect him to be. Calm on the surface but secretly freaking the fuck out about it.

Sigma:

He's SO worried oh my god. He couldn't handle it if some stupid boy broke his daughter's heart

Like he's actually really happy for his girl because she seems to really like her boyfriend, but he can't shake off his worry. He's not necessarily the most trusting person, y'know?

He kinda forgot that yeah, his child would eventually get to the age where she'd start dating too. He's not ready for it at all and that's why he kinda panicked T-T

It's not really the dating part itself that he minds, it's more a question of who she's dating. He'd be open to meeting his daughter's boyfriend and getting to know him, but if he doesn't like him he probably still wouldn't say anything lol

However, if this boy hurt her, then...ohhhhhh no. We've seen how protective Sigma is of his casino- imagine him having a whole ass kid. He'd let the world burn for her!

Would he kill the boyfriend? ...I honestly don't know man. It's not like Sigma's well-adjusted and knows how to deal with these things

You'd need to remind him that even if she and her boyfriend do break up then it's not the end of the world, and she'll be fine if she has him around when that happens

Actually now that I’ve finished Sailor Moon (90s) I can finally talk about Usagi & Mamoru.

I don’t like them together.

And I’m not sorry about it.

Their 90s relationship feels like a fairytale love story born out of obligation to their past lives & not real feelings. That’s how it came off at least.

Keep in mind how I mentioned 90s specifically, this ain’t about the manga or Crystal.

Now maybe I’m smoking crack or I simply forgot, but,,didn’t they dislike each other for the longest time? Throughout Season 1 at least, Before either of them realized they fight together as Sailor Guardian & Tuxedo Mask I mean. Usagi hated Mamoru especially when he called her “Bun Head.”

And Mamoru seemed teasing sure, but not romantically interested from their meetings on the street. Usagi was crushing on Tuxedo Mask, but she actively hoped that Mamoru wasn’t him.

And then they learned of their past relationship as Princess Serenity & Prince Endymion and?? Now it’s like “oh let’s be together! I think we’re meant to be!” It’s just,,it felt like obligation to me.

Idk maybe they fell in love off screen but like,,,why couldn’t we see it? Isn’t this their story? Shouldn’t we see the main lovers actually develop so I can feel something for them?

I cheered when Mamoru broke up with Usagi, I was like genuinely happy about that lol.

Also the 90s fucked up their age gap. Mamoru is now a college student (no given age) & Usagi is still 14 (eventually 15 in season 2 I think then 16 by the end) but like??

Kinda odd it went down like that y’know? I dunno about you but I hear “college student” and “middle schooler” I’m 💀

I’ve seen speculation that 90s Mamoru is 16 like his manga counterpart but he’s just really smart & went to college early.

Because she’s in Usagi’s grade she’s also 14-16 and We KNOW she’s smart. She’s always top of her class & getting perfect scores, She spends her free time studying & was even offered a spot in a foreign university. She’s the smart one, it’s beaten over our heads numerous times. When she has conversations with Mamoru about topics outside her friend’s knowledge it only benefits her. Those scenes don’t do anything to show “oh Mamoru is really super duper smart to know all of this,” like it does for Ami. As an eighth grader, she wouldn’t be expected to know much about the topics Mamoru’s interested in, but she DOES because she’s SMART & we’re told this all the time.

Mamoru though?? We’re told he’s a college student. So we are to assume he just,,has to/wants to know this, meaning he IS smart. But he’s not extraordinarily smart like Ami, so I don’t think I can’t believe he’s a 16yr old who went straight to college.

Seiya & Usagi had a more developed relationship tbh.

Like, Seiya starts off not really caring for Usagi but then they like her enough to be friends, and eventually develop romantic feelings for her. Also, from their perspective Mamoru is a shitty guy so ofc he wouldn’t want Usagi to be with him. Like, as long as Seiya had known Usagi, she had cried over her “botfriend” and had absolutely zero contact with the guy. Of course they eventually learn it was because of the Shadow Galaxia but before learning that, Usagi seems hung up on some guy who does not feel the same for her, and Seiya is RIGHT THERE and they’re SO devoted.

Also Seiya didn’t want Usagi to be Sailor Moon, because that would mean that Usagi might be their enemy (can’t be beefing with the love interest now can you?) even after learning that, Seiya went to many great lengths where their affection showed through clear as day. I mean, the amount of times they took a hit for Sailor Moon or cradled her to protect her,,,,

Of course they would never end up together. Usagi was very clear about not wanting to be with anyone but Mamoru, yet Seiya kept pushing Which is yikes. But at least I got to see actual romance ? Got to see romantic feelings for Usagi from someone who genuinely cared. I can tell Usagi loves Mamoru (I think) but Mamoru is like,,,,so stiff with her. He protects her because he has to, like the other Guardians, it doesn’t feel born out of love line Seiya’s protectiveness.

Siiigh anyway I’m ready to be eaten alive by UsaMamo fans. Keep in mind this only covers the 90s anime, I have no idea how they are in the manga or Crystal as I haven’t seen much of it yet. I’ve heard it’s better in them, but I don’t wanna get my hopes up.

If you could make a Genshin OC (Vision and all) with the intention of said OC being there to support a specific character, who would they be and who's the one who they're connected to? Asking because I have a brain worm that goes "If Neuvillete used his Hydro Authority to make Furina's Summons into humans it would be hilarious if Gentilhomme Usher was a Pyro swordsman who's canonical weapon was the Fleuve Cendre Ferryman" and you felt like the right person to inflict said thoughts upon.

The first thought of mine is a clearly selfish pick but it would be a new Knight the joins the Outriders and supports Amber. Some eager go getter with lose connections to Hm her grandpa and wants to learn from who he considers “the best.” They would be cryo and the entire gimmick is they mark an enemy that enemy takes increased charge attack damage. Also, when said enemy is hit with a charge attack, the mark will inflict a burst of cryo damage to make setting up melt shots very easy. It could be triggered a certain number of times within a duration and defeating an enemy before the mark expires puts it on a nearby foe. So ya know…It’s kinda Yoimiya’s burst but no icd and the charge attack buff.

Them being cryo would only slightly go against Lyney’s main purpose but I guess technically he’d benefit from it. The funnier idea of this character though lies in how Yanfei’s power would inadvertently get buffed and the cryo pulses would definitely turn into the support character doing off field damage because of how much pyro Yanfei flings.

Multiple times I’ve had the unhinged thought of wishing they made a Cryo Xingqui for Yoimiya. Charlotte ironically gets very close to filling that agenda. Also if you would’ve asked me this months ago, I could’ve told you exactly who I wanted for who, but I can’t say it now because I’m aware I will get my wish soon.

Unironically, Genshin has actually been pretty good at giving me supports that I want to further my agenda. It kinda makes this question hard because I still main Chongyun and Shenhe exists lol. Gorou exists so my Noelle is great and Faruzan came with Wanderer. I want for very little. I guess if I had to make an OC for any other character to get specific gains in would be Mona taking on a proper apprentice. Not sure how they would do it, but I think it would be neat to see Mona in a teacher role.

Side tangent, Hoyo should make Alice playable and she’s the pyro premium buffer. I just feel like she’d see all kinds of pyro characters and be the one to go “You are all my kids. Go forth and destroy.” Then suddenly we’re back in the era where people are doing Diluc showcases and vaporize is people’s new religion again💀

I'm almost ready to release a playtest version of the Oracle class, with levels 1-11 fully playable. This will be an opportunity for you to try out an all new class for 5e, and a chance for me to get some feedback.

The playtest will include four subclasses: the Astrologer, the Battlemind, the Doomseer, and the Soothsayer. I have ideas for more, but these four are the most complete right now.

Blurbs on each under the cut:

The Astrologer: Assign one of twelve celestial signs to each of your allies, granting them benefits in and out of battle. Use your Guiding Star feature to gift little twinkling stars to your friends, which they can use to gain a bonus to rolls or reduce enemies to ash!

The Battlemind: You always know what your next two attack rolls will be, literally staying two steps ahead of your opponents at all times. If your next roll is bad, you can spend resources to gain advantage, or force enemies that attack you to use the roll instead.

The Doomseer: Your enemies will drop like flies as they take extra damage from your allies. You can tie the souls of two creatures together so damage they take is shared, and sense the locations of the dead and dying.

The Soothsayer: You and your allies get a lucky number that can turn rolls into crits, and you can read the fortunes of your friends to help them through the challenges you see ahead. You also get to call on extra Prophetic Edicts as needed, so you're never unprepared.

admittedly I'm not a big fan of the Rook spy family theory (I prefer other, wilder ones this one is too smart and normal lol), but there is something actually damning I'm not sure you know yet based off your old post: did you know that Ortho regularly scans him to tell how surprised/honest he is and finds out his vitals - heart rate, literally are the same in all situations and contexts? Like, I thought it was something super scary but it turns out it probably is a secret agent skill.

Sometimes it’s just the most boring theories that are the most likely to be canon or just make the most sense! This was the case for the “Ortho is dead” theory (which got confirmed in book 6), but could also be true of the yet-to-be-confirmed “Leech mob family” theory.

Oh no, I’m aware! I believe it’s in Rook’s Beans Camo vignettes where Ortho scans him to detect if he’s telling the truth or not based on vital readings. (That’s only one circumstance though; I don't believe Ortho does it regularly or in all scenarios because he specifically asks Rook for his permission in the vignette!) It’s just that with how much content there is out of TWST, it’s easy to forget certain details and hard to comb through all the available lore for what else may be relevant. I thought to just stick with major examples shown in the main story and events for that theory.

Anyway! It’s not all that shocking to learn, especially when we know what Ortho is capable of and when we’ve been given a very clear example of Rook manipulating his heart beat to his advantage. As I mention in the original post, Rook controls his heart rate to convince Sebek that he, too, is scared, and therefore is not Sebek’s enemy. This is something that Trey points out after the group’s tension has been safely dispelled. That in of itself implies that Rook’s vitals would typically be normal—he just actively chose to change it when it benefits him.

Keeping cool and calm in even tough situations? Definitely a very suspicious and spy-like skill to have in his toolkit 😂 I’d know because I read Spy x Family and Loid has that skill too— I believe many agents irl have to pass a polygraph (“lie detector”) test, which really detects changes in heartbeat and perspiration… so being able to control those physiological components is a must! Control of pupillary dilation is particularly rare; overriding reflexes wired into musculature takes active effort and training.
