Out of Control- Part 2
Part 1
Villain paced back and forth in their lair, waiting for a call from Superhero. After several hours, their phone finally rang. Villain almost dropped it from pulling it out of their pocket so fast. They frantically pushed the answer button and put the phone up to their ear.
"How is Hero?" Villain asked.
"Hello to you too, Villain," Superhero's voice rang out, "...sorry. Hero's stable. Do you want to come see them?"
"Yes!" Villain exclaimed, "I mean, yes, please, that would be great."
"I'll have one of my teammates pick you up at the city park," Superhero said, "and Villain?"
"Yes?" Villain asked.
"No funny business."
"...Of course."
...
The ride to the league base was long and silent. Villain kept fidgeting the whole way, anxious to see how Hero was holding up. They thought back to what they had done the previous night. They were only trying to help them, though they would understand if Hero felt betrayed at first; hopefully, Villain could help them understand.
The league van pulled up to the base's entrance. Villain and the league member stepped out of the van and into the base. Villain was led down flights of stairs and a series of corridors until they reached a very hot, stark white room. There was Hero, lying in a hospital bed, looking completely out of it. Superhero stood by their bedside.
"Hero!" Villain yelled.
Hero made no response. Villain ran to their bedside and wrapped them in a tight embrace. It was then that they realized that Hero was almost completely limp in their hold.
"Hero?" Villain asked, their brows furrowed.
Hero merely whimpered in response, the sound shattering Villain's heart. Villain looked up at Superhero.
"What have you done to them?" Villain demanded.
"We've given them a mild sedative and set the thermostat to the warmest setting," Superhero explained, "we'll be keeping them under observation."
"So you saw your teammate was suffering," Villain started, a strain in their voice, "and instead of treating the root cause, you decided to just knock them out indefinitely!?"
"Villain, it's not like that." Superhero held up their hands in a placating gesture, "we don't know what caused Hero to lose control, and until we do, they're a danger to themselves and the city. They need to be kept like this so they don't hurt anyone."
"No, they need to be kept like this to preserve your precious league's reputation!" Villain growled.
"Villain-" Superhero started.
"...Villain?" a small voice asked.
Superhero and Villain turned to look at Hero. Their eyes were half-closed, and they were weakly reaching out toward Villain.
"...help," Hero said, and their arm fell limp at their side, their eyes fluttering shut.
That was all Villain needed to hear. They let their red energy swirl around them; the lights flickered overhead.
"Villain, I'm warning you-" Superhero said.
"Save it," Villain said, their eyes glowing red, "and get out of my way."
Villain unleashed a burst of energy at Superhero. Superhero careened backwards into a wall. Villain lifted Hero out of the bed and into a bridal carry. They winced at the needle marks they saw in Hero's arm. The league was going to pay for this.
...
Alarms blared as Villain flew out the nearest window and into a league van. A little burst of energy from Villain's fingertips and the car was jump started. Villain sped out of the league gates before they could close. They checked on Hero in the backseat; they looked like a shell of themselves, absolutely exhausted and that spark gone from their eyes. Villain drove down the road and back to their base. If Hero's own teammates wouldn't help them, then Villain would.
A couple older sketches I don’t think I posted here yet, the character is “roller darling”, a young adult whose roller derby gear was charged up with super energy and gives her the power to create energy constructs when she wears it. She fights against a legion of action figures that have been transformed into 80’s cartoon inspired supervillains.
"Cody Two Bears, a member of the Sioux tribe in North Dakota, founded Indigenized Energy, a native-led energy company with a unique mission — installing solar farms for tribal nations in the United States.
This initiative arises from the historical reliance of Native Americans on the U.S. government for power, a paradigm that is gradually shifting.
The spark for Two Bears' vision ignited during the Standing Rock protests in 2016, where he witnessed the arrest of a fellow protester during efforts to prevent the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline on sacred tribal land.
Disturbed by the status quo, Two Bears decided to channel his activism into action and create tangible change.
His company, Indigenized Energy, addresses a critical issue faced by many reservations: poverty and lack of access to basic power.
Reservations are among the poorest communities in the country, and in some, like the Navajo Nation, many homes lack electricity.
Even in regions where the land has been exploited for coal and uranium, residents face obstacles to accessing power.
Renewable energy, specifically solar power, is a beacon of hope for tribes seeking to overcome these challenges.
Not only does it present an environmentally sustainable option, but it has become the most cost-effective form of energy globally, thanks in part to incentives like the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
Tribal nations can receive tax subsidies of up to 30% for solar and wind farms, along with grants for electrification, climate resiliency, and energy generation.
And Indigenized Energy is not focused solely on installing solar farms — it also emphasizes community empowerment through education and skill development.
In collaboration with organizations like Red Cloud Renewable, efforts are underway to train Indigenous tribal members for jobs in the renewable energy sector.
The program provides free training to individuals, with a focus on solar installation skills.
Graduates, ranging from late teens to late 50s, receive pre-apprenticeship certification, and the organization is planning to launch additional programs to support graduates with career services such as resume building and interview coaching...
The adoption of solar power by Native communities signifies progress toward sustainable development, cultural preservation, and economic self-determination, contributing to a more equitable and environmentally conscious future.
These initiatives are part of a broader movement toward "energy sovereignty," wherein tribes strive to have control over their own power sources.
This movement represents not only an economic opportunity and a source of jobs for these communities but also a means of reclaiming control over their land and resources, signifying a departure from historical exploitation and an embrace of sustainable practices deeply rooted in Indigenous cultures."

It's no secret Supercharge is, at her core, just me playing with a powerset and suit that I always loved and fitting them into my own character. But, it occurred to me that I never actually draw ol' Electro Supes himself. So, here's me doing that, along with a time lapse of my process.
