#english really can be so underwhelming at times

so i've just joined the pjo series discourse on sm (i've read all the books) so maybe people might have already said this but i feel like the monster fights are kinda underwhelming ?? the fights themselves but the atmosphere around them too. i'm just going to say it point by point to be clearer :
Mrs. Dodds: she's the first monster and threat of the show. i was waiting for something scary and surprising, that would have terrified percy or something. but instead the "reveal" was slow, and there wasn't even a fight, he just kind of opened the sword (even tho we don't even see him doing it) and she just. dies like that ?? it was really easy and i get that they can't just kill percy in the first ep but there wasn't even a bit of struggle or anything. tbh this first fight really dissapointed me. there was mystery that creates an intrigue but she just wasn't scary or a menace imo (EDIT : I HAVE NOW REREAD THE SCENE AND IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS IS EXACTLY HOW THE FIGHT PLAYS OUT IN THE BOOK (extract down below) so forget everything i said in this part, i'm sorry. )
Tumblr media
2. The minotaur : i liked this one much more than the first one, the car chase was thrilling and the atmosphere of the scene was really cool. i've only got one little thing to say about it, but i think it's just a me thing and i'm nitpicking (idk how to make gifs so i hope you can picture it in your head) :
when sally takes percy's jacket to lure the minotaur away from the boys and uses it as a red cape like in a corrida, i think it kinds of take the attention away from the fear of the monster in itself by being comedic. AGAIN i know i'm nitpicking here but why not say it.
(also i regret that the last scene was so far away from the camera and from the camp border. i know it's bc it's percy's pov but i loved percy's desperation in the movie (I KNOW IT'S BAD) when he's failing to save his mother and finally sees her (and her emotions) when she is gets taken away from him.)
3. Medusa : i LOVED what they tried to do with medusa and how they tried to make us sympathise with her. however, the fight was REALLY dissapointing to me. it kind of happened from nowhere. it's implied that it's annabeth plan but it really happened way too fast and did not give enought time for the viewer to appreciate the threat that medusa can be. it felt way to easy for them to beat MEDUSA. the fight lasted 5 seconds max and it felt shy in a way, like as if they didn't not want to fuck it up.
+ special mention : 4. Clarisse: I'M NOT SAYING SHE'S A MONSTER, I'M JUST PUTTING HER HERE BC TECHNICALLY SHE WAS A THREAT TO PERCY. i like dior's acting, idk anything about her outside of the show but i'm going to be honest : not knowing the cast at all, at first i immediately thought she was drew 😭. she IS a really pretty girl but for me she doesn't emanate clarisse's ares' daughter vibe. when her spear broke she was so GOOD, but appart from that she's just really chill i think ? like she's not menacing, she just kind of a mean girl bully (which clarisse is ig but she's not a menace enough imo) and tbh i think she's just not as "rough" as i think she could have been.
tldr : i think the fights were not scary enough and did not set a good tone for the series. they were also too easy and fast for them to be enjoyable.
of course i still enjoy this show a lot so i will be watching the next episodes and the rest of it so maybe there will be improvements. please yell what you guys think !!
it's the first time i ever talk so much on tumblr, so i hope it was readable. if there was any mistakes please tell me, english is not my first language.

︎This is the first time ever I'm writing to a writer as I'm a lil anxious about my English. But after many years of reading your flawless work (TGSTLTH), I really couldn't hold myself anymore; if I stay silent one more second, I'm going to explode from repressed emotions.XD
I'm absolutely going crazy over your storytelling. I think nobody -and I do mean NOBODY- was this close to perfection with the characterization of Sebastian and Ciel. It's like you are working together with Yana herself. You've really managed to catch every aspect of their relationship that made this whole storyline (manga and anime) the way it's been, which seems to be the entire reason why I still can't get over Kuroshitsuji. It's just so dark and dramatic... the bitter power struggle between these two and the way they compete for control —which is pretty entertaining to see when you think about it because both parties are unable to maintain any type of control or authority over the other.
From what I see, this fandom has mixed feelings about S2 of the anime. Some love it, some ignore its whole existence, and some people are okay with it. Unfortunately, I'm the second one. I like the story arcs that are canon to the manga. When I first started to read TGSTLTH, I really thought that fanfic would follow the storyline without S2 in it since you reflect the complexity of the bond they share as a human and demon so prettily. I've always wondered if Ciel, as-twelve-years-old brat, managed to become Sebastian's living hell, how much of a pain in the ass he would be as he grows older. And the plot has several unresolved mysteries that have not been addressed yet. That's why I'm not a big fan of S2; it closes off all the possible ways this story can go as its ending. However, you are the only one who could warm me up to S2; I trust you.
I read the snippets. It was surprising to see Ciel doubting his appearance. I was questioning whether his look-alike was truly superior or if it was just the circumstances influencing his perception. I feel like it's mainly his fear of not being good enough for Sebastian to stay. Which explains his continuous freak-out about the possibility of his soul being unworthy. And I clearly remember Sebastian thinking, "The boy wasn't nearly as pretty" upon seeing him.
Your talent is exceptional and beyond comparison. Please never stop writing. Stay safe...❤❤
B.
Ps. If my English is difficult to read or understand, please feel free to ignore this.
Hi! Please don't worry, your English is absolutely fine! I'm so happy you've been enjoying Those Gentle Slopes so much, and I'm honored that you feel like I did justice to Ciel and Sebastian. They are my favorite characters, and Ciel is probably my most favorite character ever, across all fandoms, so I really treasure the chance to work with them and get such lovely feedback from other readers.
With S2, yes, it created a lot of controversy in the fandom, but also yes, I love it with my whole heart! I always call it a love letter from Sebastian to Ciel. I do have some issues with it, like the exccessive sexualization in general and of Hannah in particular - it feels just awkward sometimes, but the main plot and especially the resolution make me ridiculously happy.
I agree that the bond between a demon and a human is fascinating. I enjoy exploring it a lot, and I so look forward to all the adventures Ciel and Sebastian will have. But I also think that it cannot go on like this forever: even if Ciel got older, sooner or later, something wuld have to give. He'd either die from old age, which would feel like a very underwhelming ending to me, or Sebastian would eat his soul likepromised - but then I'm sure we'd have ended up with the Red Valentine development, where he's lonely, miserable, and missing Ciel. The idea of Ciel becoming a demon in a way that puts such a strain on his relationship with Sebastian - it's like a new life for their bond. So many new conflicts and possibilities could emerge from it - new settings, new events, new power struggles. If you stick around, I really hope you'll like it! And I really appreciate your trust.
And yes, you're absolutely right, Ciel is prettier than his look-alike (at least from how I envision it). Sebastian probably overestimates the difference between them a bit because he's biased in Ciel's favor while Ciel is freaking out because he's been feeling insecure and unworthy for a while at this point, and learning about Sebastian's second contract was just the last blow. These two idiots…
Thank you for your wonderful ask again! I hope you enjoy the next chapter.

fall in love with me [1] — itoshi sae x reader !
warnings. heavy manga spoilers & ooc itoshi sae.
content. fake dating, (slight) enemies to lovers.
Tumblr media
you consider yourself mediocre.
to be the best is to devote oneself to their craft, but you’re not that kind of person. since you don’t feel passion over a particular thing, the best you could do is be good at everything. you’re good at english. you’re good at arts. you’re good at literature. you’re good at science. you’re good at math. there wasn’t anything in the world that you, l/n y/n, couldn’t do.
however, if one talks about talent, you’ve got nothing. there will always be people who will be better than you. people who are gifted. people like itoshi sae, who devoted himself to soccer.
you don’t envy him. no, not one bit. you consider it foolish that his strength serves as a weakness. he was only good at soccer— no, he’s japan’s best. and while you do think that it’s stupid to be focused on only one thing, you also admire that side of him. he’s passionate over the sport, so he devotes his whole self to it, leaving no space for anything else on his life.
you wanted to meet him. not because you had a crush on him like just any other japanese woman, but because you wanted to see what passion looks like. you wanted to see what face he would make while he plays. maybe by then you’d realize what you’d like to do for the rest of your life.
“are you sure you’re not coming?“ your mom asked. from your peripheral version, you could see her spraying on some perfume on her wrist. you’re supposed to go visit some relatives in spain, together with your parents, but you declined the offer.
today’s the fight between u-20 japan and blue lock, after all. you don’t have to watch to know that itoshi sae would win, but you wanted to see how he would win. you wanted to see what face would the best player of japan make once he wins.
“no. hug grandma for me, though.”
“do you really need to watch the game?” your dad poses the question this time. “if you want to meet itoshi sae, i could—”
“no. i want to see him play.”
“alright, then.”
you’re lucky. if you wanted to meet itoshi sae, your parents would have made that possible with a click of their fingers. that’s how powerful they are. as the daughter of a billionaire CEO, you also have this kind of power. you can have anything you desire in the world. anything except passion, you guess.
“we’ll see you in a week, love.” your mom kisses your cheeks and you wave her goodbye. just like that, they headed to spain easily as if travelling to a nearby city. you then sighed.
i have the resources but i have nothing to do with it. i really am just mediocre. lukewarm. gray.
Tumblr media
“looks like the ball went to... itoshi sae!”
the crowd went wild. you, on the other hand, has no intense reaction over what just happened. you’ve expected this already. at this point, whenever itoshi sae has the ball, it’s just normal. it’s blah. not because he’s not good— you’ve got to acknowledge the man’s talent at the very least — but because he doesn’t look like he’s having fun at all.
he looks dead. there was no love while he plays. so, as you come into this conclusion, there was one feeling that settles in your gut: disappointment.
the match was underwhelming, even though everyone around you thought differently. however, you came to this match expecting that itoshi sae would teach you what passion looks like, and yet he does the opposite. he plays as if he’s completely fallen out of love with the sport. he teaches you what passion isn’t.
what a boring prodigy.
when he scored a goal, everyone erupted into shouts of elation. they think he’s amazing. heck, even the blue lock men probably think that, too. but to you? it was mediocre. it was lukewarm. it was gray.
the only thing you’ve learned today is that itoshi sae is the same as you.
at first you thought that maybe he’s considered the best because of his talent and devotion. that he’s the best because of his passion for soccer, but it seems that he’s only like that because he doesn’t want to lose. at this point, he’s just playing and winning because it’s expected of him. so, when you take away the shiny names and medals of awards, you’ve come to realize that itoshi sae is hollow.
if he doesn’t love the sport he’s best at, is there any hope for him to love anything else?
probably not.
the first half ends and your frown deepens. the commentator’s words flew past your ears because you weren’t in the mood to listen. you can’t believe that you cancelled all your plans just to watch him play, only to be let down like this.
“hey, that number 11 is my son!” a man says from behind you, his voice interrupting your line of thoughts. having nothing better to do, you scanned the field for that so-called number 11, only to find him on the blue lock team. the ones against itoshi sae, who surprisingly took the lead this first half.
isagi yoichi, huh?
“what’re you doing meguru! you’ve got to score more goals! are you a striker or not?!” another person from behind you yells. when you checked where this meguru was, it turned out that he’s at the blue lock team as well. he’s the one with the cute haircut and an easy going smile.
bachira meguru.
the parents of these two indulged in a short conversation with each other, but you didn’t listen any further. when the second half starts, your eyes were no longer trained on the person you originally came here for. instead, it’s on the blue lock team. the ones who play as if their lives depended on it; the ones who look like they’re having fun.
this is blue lock’s win, itoshi sae.
Tumblr media
an hour has passed since the game concluded, with the blue lock team winning. there was no surprise there; the game only felt alive because of them, after all. together with that shidou ryusei that the u-20 japan team decided to sub in last minute. nevertheless, after the game, you stayed. for no better reason than to talk to itoshi sae.
“y/n–chan! so sorry we made you wait.” itoshi’s manager greets, offering you a nervous smile. he was holding a bunch of paper and seemed to be in a rush. maybe as to not make you wait any longer, you suppose.
a few steps from behind him was none other than itoshi sae. he seems to have changed his clothes already, with his usual deadpan look plastered on his flawless face. if he didn’t have a soccer career, he might’ve been a model. or maybe not. his attitude wasn’t very warm.
“that’s okay. i didn’t wait long.”
“oh, sae–chan, this is y/n–chan. daughter of the well known billionaire l/n kenji.”
itoshi sae stares at you wordlessly. you, of course, stared back. no one dared to greet first and this staring contest served as a reminder of how prideful the both of you are.
“s—so! let’s go ahead and have dinner.”
“wait,” you stopped the manager from dragging the both of you away. there was no need for fake pleasantries. you weren’t here to be friends with someone like itoshi sae. in fact, it’s quite the opposite. “i want to speak with itoshi sae.”
“sorry. i don’t do autographs.”
“i’m not asking you for one.”
“then,” he crosses his arms. “what do you want from me?”
“manager–san, will you please give us a moment?” itoshi’s manager looked back and forth between you and itoshi. he’s aware that you asked him kindly, but his eyes still awaited his boss’ orders. hell would break loose if he left the both of you together, but one look from itoshi sae and he knew that there was nothing he could do about it.
once you’re left alone, itoshi questions, “so?”
“why do you play soccer when you’ve clearly fallen out of love with it?” a direct question. there’s no need to sugarcoat because doing so will change the essence of it. that’s the sole reason.
he doesn’t answer. the blank look on his face gave nothing away, but that’s just how he is.
“you’re a prodigy and japan’s best soccer player, so why do you look so hollow and dead when you play?” where is your passion? or is there any, to begin with? were other questions you wanted to ask, but he hasn’t even answered the first one yet so there was no assurance that he’d even answer the other ones.
“listen,” he states after a few moments of silence. “why do you care?”
because we’re the same. we’re both hollow.
itoshi sae could have taught you how to have passion, and even if he couldn’t, then the blue lock team could have been your inspiration. so you have no idea why you’re chasing over this unfathomable man that seems to be your own reflection. you have no idea why you’d find peace in this chaos. you have no idea what prompted you to ask him these ridiculous questions.
you have no idea why you’d think that you’d feel whole with itoshi sae’s hollowness.
and before you could stop yourself, you spoke. “itoshi sae... fall in love with me.”
Tumblr media
notes. this might not make sense. it doesn’t make sense to me but the monster inside me is telling me to write this, nonetheless. idk how to use tumblr & i’m only publishing this bc i want to create a masterlist thing, but if someone stumbles upon this work of mine, then i’ll tell you not to fret because this’ll be at least 3 parts. i’ll elaborate in the next chap ig !

this is why we can’t have nice things | pansy parkinson x reader
song; this is why we can't have nice things [taylor swift] pairing; pansy parkinson x gender neutral!reader genre; angst, established relationship, break-up word count; 1,8k timeline; half-blood prince warnings; swearing, mentions of cheating, public humiliation (not of y/n), mild verbal conflict summary; you had already given pansy a second chance, but she really had proven that she couldn't be trusted, and that your relationship had to be ended for good
masterlist
"there i was giving you a second chance, but you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand."
—————————————
Your gut instincts were always right - of course, this time you had the advantage of having lived through the signs of the same scenario before. Pansy becoming secretive, dismissive, distant, etc... all signs of her disloyalty that you had ignored last time out of the benefit of the doubt. She didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt again.
The undeniable sign the first time this happened was turning the corner in Hogsmeade to see Pansy wrapped in the arms of Draco Malfoy with her lips fused to his. Naturally, you had ran off afterwards, and refused to talk to her for a week: something about her eventual apology had seemed so genuine through the tears and sobs that you decided to give her a second chance. Now, as you watched Pansy walk away from turning down a study date with you, you couldn't help but feel as if that may have been a mistake.
It was the third time this week she had refused a study date with you in favour of studying alone: Pansy didn't like to study alone. That suggested to you that she wasn't studying - studying a subject the school offered, anyway. Maybe she was studying someone's genitals.
"Y/N," a familiar voice spoke, causing you to turn around to be met with Blaise Zabini's gaze, "You do know where she's going, don't you?"
You let out a sigh, "I have a feeling."
***
"In honour of the muggle subject of English literature, your assignment is to write a poem," your muggle studies teacher, Professor Burbage, spoke, "The subject can be anything that isn't exclusive to the wizarding world. If muggles don't know about it, don't write about it."
Longbottom raised his hand, "Will we have to read them to the class?"
"I would like for a couple volunteers to, but ultimately no. I do want each and every poem handed in, however."
You clutched your quill in thought, eyes flicking over to Pansy, who you had yet to address your suspicions with. She caught your eye and offered you a soft smile, which you returned, but the negative thoughts remained settled in your mind.
Blaise, who sat next to you, watched the interaction and gave you an incredulous look when you turned back to him. You rolled your eyes, but couldn't stop the smile from tugging at your lips. He was your most trusted friend, and the only person you would tell your plan to humiliate Pansy about, you had decided.
The plan had come to you during a study session in which Pansy failed to show up for, despite agreeing to. She never apologised for it, and you never brought it up, so she must have been very pre-occupied for the thought to never enter her mind again.
It was when her tardiness reached the twenty-minute mark that your hurt started dissipating into anger, a familiar feeling since she first cheated. Being surrounded by the knowledge of the library, it was only natural your brain was in a thinking state, and thus you found yourself fantasising about many scenarios of humiliation for Pansy. There was no way you would cheat on her in return - that felt cheap and underwhelming, aside from the fact you were sure that you would feel dirty afterwards. Regardless of the circumstances, it would still brand you as a cheater, and you didn't want that.
As it turned out, you wouldn't have to do much plotting, as the opportunity would fall right into your lap, courtesy of Professor Burbage.
***
Another Hogsmeade trip.
Honestly, the place somewhat left a bitter taste in your mouth ever since you found Pansy and Draco together there. Still, you needed a sweets restock to satisfy your everlasting sweet tooth, and the butterbeer of the Three Broomsticks tasted divine.
Perhaps less divine when you had to share a table with both Pansy and Draco.
Your friendship group had been more than awkward ever since the incident, and it had become clear there was on-going tension. After you had taken Pansy back, it had mainly been with Draco, but it was beginning to return with Pansy as well. Blaise had made his siding with you perfectly clear to the rest of the group, which you appreciated, while Crabbe and Goyle, like usual, remained opinionless - obedient servants to Draco. Theo had voiced his distaste towards Pansy and Draco's actions, but had not changed the way he treated them.
To be honest, you didn't really care. For you, one completely loyal and trustworthy friend was more than enough, and Blaise provided that.
Pansy was sat by your side, with your hands interlocked, but her attention was all upon Draco. It was strange, frankly, how numb to the situation you felt. By that point, Blaise knew of your plans to humiliate Pansy, and he also knew that your love for her was disappearing - although it wasn't all gone just yet, that would take time. So, all he could do was bite his tongue as he watched the brunette Slytherin girl believe she was getting away with cheating.
It was when Pansy shifted far enough back in her seat, for the briefest of moments, that you caught sight of the undeniable physical evidence you had yet to see. Draco, who sat on her other side, had his hand placed casually on her thigh.
You didn't feel a rush of anger, surprisingly. Instead, you felt a smirk grow on your face, now knowing for sure that you wouldn't regret your actions for even a second.
***
"Now, as terrifying as the prospect might be, do we have any volunteers to read their poems to the class?" Burbage asked, looking around the class with clearly very little hope.
You raised your hand instantly, taking your teacher by surprise.
"How courageous of you," was the remark you received, "Please, come to the front."
The anticipation screamed and twisted inside of you, fuelling your powerful stride to the front with your notebook in hand. In your mind's eye, you could picture Blaise smiling knowingly about what was about to happen, while Pansy sat obliviously in her seat, ogling at Draco from across the class.
"My poem is called This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things," you introduced, taking a deep breath to steady yourself.
"It was so nice throwing big parties Jumping into the pool from the balcony Everyone swimming in a champagne sea And there are no rules when you show up here Bass beat rattling the chandelier Feeling so Gatsby for that whole year."
You had to suppress a chuckle - Pansy didn't even know who Gatsby was. That was a neat little reference for the magic folk in your class to feel special about if they understood it.
"So why'd you have to rain on my parade? I'm shaking my head, I'm closing the gates."
Then, you allowed yourself to look up to make eye contact with Pansy, knowing that you had the next part memorised word for word.
"It was so nice being together again There I was giving you a second chance But you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand."
Her eyes widened, and people began to look in the direction that you were gazing, as your tone gave away that this poem was personal.
"And therein lies the issue, lovers don't try to trick you Get you all alone and mind-twist you And so I took an axe to a mended fence."
By this point, everybody was glancing between you and Pansy, whispering amongst each other as you continued.
"But I'm not the only friend you've lost lately," you tilted your head and pouted mockingly at her, "If only you weren't so shady.
"This is why we can't have nice things, darling Because you break them, I had to take them away Did you think I wouldn't hear all the things you do without me?"
"Y/N-" she tried to speak, but you cut her off.
"Here's a toast to my real friends They don't care about the he said, she said And here's to my dignity I'm glad I found it again recently And here's to you 'Cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do."
You beamed proudly at her after that line, as you had said it in such a perfect imitation of a genuine tone, allowing the tiniest of smiles to etch on her face.
"I'm kidding, obviously This is why we can't have nice things."
Blaise didn't hesitate to start applauding, and out of obligation the rest of the class rippled into applause as well. All except Pansy, of course, who sat in a state of shock at her spot along the front row. You gave her a sweet smile, deciding to indulge yourself in the luxury of a bow to your audience.
Professor Burbage then regained composure, having initially been taken aback by the atmosphere in the room, and returned to the front, "Right, well, that was a very creative poem... thank you."
"You're welcome," you couldn't help but grin, "It was a joy writing it."
You then went back to your seat, keeping your chin held high as you walked past the rows of desks.
"Would anyone else like to read their poems?"
After your startling opener, no one else could find the bravery within them to volunteer, even if they had originally been planning on it.
***
Pansy found you after class, of course, and began spluttering her way through countless apologies, none of wish you cared for.
"Please, Y/N, please forgive me."
"No," you said, "I don't think I will."
"I know I fucked up but I-"
"Will only do it again," you finished for her, "So why don't you just save yourself the trouble of being tied to someone else? If you're single, you can fuck who you want, when you want, without hurting anyone."
"But I-"
"Or is it the kick of knowing you're doing something that you shouldn't that gets you?" you pondered aloud, before shrugging, "Either way, you're no longer my problem, so kindly bother someone else with your complaints. Perhaps Draco? You two are as close as ever, after all."
You turned away from her, relishing delightfully in the feeling that burned with you: revenge, justice, karma.
You felt like a bitch, and you loved it.

Can you explain the Magneto Düsseldorf post to me, or would that entail an extended discussion of German geopolitics and linguistics that's not worth either of our time?
Oh, it's a bit hard to put into words but:
a) Düsseldorf is really such a generic place. It's the Volvo among German cities. I don't think there is anything really outstanding that comes to mind about Düsseldorf. It...just exists. Let's just say, if you say you're from Berlin or Munich or even some interesting small town - people might actually acknowledge that in a conversation and talk about it. If you say you come from a place that people actually don't know, they'll probably ask 'where is that' and 'what's it like?'. If you say you're from Düsseldorf, it's not exactly a conversation-stopper. It's kinda *shrug*. Not too bad for you but not too good either. So someone like Magneto saying he's from Düsseldorf is kind of...underwhelming. It's like meeting Doctor Doom at Target.
(In the comics Mags is actually from Nuremberg (at least in the Magneto Testament) which has a lot of connotation. But for some reason they changed that in the film (or he's just lying to strike up a conversation with the two Nazis in the Argentina scene) which kind of brings me to my second point:
b) Düsseldorf has a bit of a history where English-speaking writers who need a German city but don't want to take Berlin (too the capital), Munich (too Bavarian), Hamburg (too famous) - they'll use Düsseldorf because the international audience probably doesn't associate anything with it and it just sounds VERY German.
c) autobiographical: I live not far from Düsseldorf. I don't know. It just feels strange to hear one of my blorbos talk about Düsseldorf. Like. That's just that dumb big town over there. Friends will be like: "Ah, by the way, I visited so-and-so in Düsseldorf!" and my brains goes: that’s the city from x-men first class. I don't know how Americans from big cities can live with that.
(I should maybe add that when I made that post, it was more of a "personal hehe" kind of post, I didn't expect it to get quite so many notes. I mean it's cool to reblog it and have fun with it, i just didnt expect it! So I didn't really have any complex commentary in mind when I made it, it was more of a personal chuckle. It's just ....Magneto Mutant Master of Magnetism, International Terrorist, Dude Who Threw A Stadium At Richard Nixon!! ...and Düsseldorf.)

It's funny. First you call my prompt a dumb one-liner with nothing to it, then you say you've read my starter and it's underwhelming. It's a script-style starter, and I'm sorry to hear you aren't a fan, but it does the trick, avoiding both empty chats and getting the ball rolling.
More to the point—which is it? You're vacillating so much, and you've already contradicted yourself. Is it a one liner or not? Are you just chucking it in with them because you've decided that there's no fun allowed?
You really sound rather focused on a tag I ran for all of a day. I'm sorry that me having a laugh with my tags makes you upset, okay? I'm sure you must have had a very difficult time dealing with all of that.
Do I need to tag myself morally dubious! arsonist!psychostrider(optional)! for you to be happy, even though it's effectively the same shit in different words? Even though, really, someone with a perfectly competent grasp of the English language ought to be able to figure that out? Please let me know. Do you want me to write paragraphs at length about the fire and ash spiralling up around him, and the thick plastic smoke that he coughs on, etc.? I think I've already made it clear that I will; it just isn't in my quick-start.
If I still had the time for long-form with srs plot and a 900-word starter, y'know, I'd just head back to cherp for another stint. All of my old prompts there also did fairly well until I ran out of time to maintain them. It's parp—if you've selected script/both you should be prepared for a script opener. And it's open-ended, because railroading too hard is gauche.
In unrelated news, I'm sure the stick up your ass is astounding in breadth and length. (You can say that about me as well, tbh, I'm certainly a pedant, but at least I'm responding to spurious, vacillating complaints as opposed to making them.) I'm also really wondering what on earth it is that you actually RP.

Second ask if it's not too much to ask :') Can you give us headcanons about Musashi, Hiruma, Jumonji, Rui and Homer in a love relationship with a foreigner female s/o ? (European/American for the first ones and European/Asian for Homer I guess ?) Thanks !
We’re going to pretend that there is no real language barrier for most of them.  This is in part because I forgot about it lol
Takekura “Musashi” Gen
Doesn’t actually think too much about the fact that you’re foreign.  You’re you, and that’s all he cares about.
He’s a good listener, so he’ll gladly hear you talk about your home.  He’s only been to America once, and it was pure chaos, so it’s nice to hear about the normal things
The best boyfriend to have if you make mistakes with regards to social/cultural norms in Japan without knowing it.  Never makes a big deal about it, and never calls you out in public.  He’ll tell you later, and he has this blasé way of doing it that somehow doesn’t embarrass you?
He’s not good at explanations for things that just are in Japan, but he does his best.
He’s the type that if someone draws attention to your foreigner status he shrugs them off.  If they are being rude about it, well, then the intimidation comes out.  He’s not a small guy.
You usually have to take the lead with him, at least as far as things you want to do.  He’s tired after working all day, so if it was up to him, it would just be cuddle/naptime most of the time
Never adverse to going where you want, even the worst of the tourist spots.  He doesn’t even grumble about it, which has earned a side eye from Hiruma a time or two when he’d been dragged along (somehow, no one is actually sure why or how he got there, Mamori or Kurita are usually the suspected culprits).
Completely fine with PDA, he doesn’t consider your affection, or his, embarrassing, but there is always a hint of pink in his cheeks anyway.
Hiruma Yoichi
Given how much he travelled as a kid, the fact that you are not native to Japan means little to him.
Underwhelming, I know, but he speaks English fairly well, so there are no communication problems, and he really doesn’t see your foreigner status.
It’s mildly inconvenient if you are something like an exchange student, but while Hiruma is a tyrant and can seem inflexible, it’s not true at all.  He adapts well and can change plans on a drop of a hat.  If you think an ocean between you and him is an obstacle, you’d better think again.
Nothing gets in his way if he wants something.
There might be some clashes as far as romantic behavior, since Japanese youth tend to be fairly reserved when it comes to touchy PDAs and the like.  This goes double for him, since he doesn’t really like being touched in general (he melts some for you), and his automatic response negative.
You’ll have to be further into your relationship before he’ll do anything more than walk beside you.  Once you get past the two kilometer (one mile) high wall he puts up around himself, you will be given the privilege of being allowed to hold his hand out and about when he doesn’t need it, and he’ll let you snuggle against him if you’re sitting somewhere together.
If there comes a day when he puts you in his lap to work around you, you’ll know that he trusts you the most and has given you (metaphorically) his heart.
Not that he would ever say so out loud.
Jumonji Kazuki
Somehow, he’s even shyer with you than he is with other girls in school.
He’s somewhat used to being confessed to, it happens all the time, but when it comes to you, he just can’t be as cool as he is with them.
Language barriers stress him out – he’s afraid of saying something offensive by accident, no matter how many times you tell him that won’t happen.  If you speak Japanese, even at a basic level, it’s easier.  As long as the pair of you can get your general points across at the beginnings, it’s okay, and both of you get better as the time goes on.
He lets you lead dates, since let’s face it, you probably have more experience than he does and he doesn’t want to take you somewhere you don’t like.  However, if you ask him to plan something, he always comes through.
Really, he worries for nothing.  He’s perfectly capable of coming up with a date you’ll like.
100% asks Mamori for help though, even though he’s too embarrassed even to look at her.  Lord help him if Suzuha is within earshot.  The whole team will know about it in about five minutes (even if they are scattered.  Suzuha is scary).
Surprisingly, he initiates things like hand holding, and even kisses you first.  He can’t help it, since you’re so cute, and he’s a little impatient.
His idiot friend’s teasing might play a part.
Habashira Rui
You’re going to have to do all the work to bridge the gap with this one.  He’d never approach you in a million years, even if he liked you.  The fact that your foreign is just another barrier for him.  His self-confidence when it comes to girls is in the negatives.
The type to watch you from afar and pine.  Even though your being foreign is a barrier, he still finds it interesting, which is why he pays attention to you in the first place.
He’s a little jealous by nature, so over time the attention you get starts bothering him, but he’s smart enough to know that it’s really none of his business.  It’s just one more thing to suffer in silence for.
If you start talking to him, he’ll come off as grumpy and short at first – keep at it!  He’s not really, at least not to girls. He may look like a gangster, but he’s actually pretty nice underneath.  He’s just really awkward.
He relaxes the more attempts you make.  He’s hesitant about your attention.  While he’s confident about his skills in most things, talking, especially to girls, he is not.  It’s in the back of his mind that it could be a joke, it wouldn’t be the first time.
Continued attention is highly recommended.  As he becomes more comfortable, he opens up.  He’s very busy with his personal training
Once you start dating he’s pretty sweet.  Listens really well, and learns all your likes and dislikes.  Gives you small presents that always match your taste.  He likes to pick out things you can’t really get in your home country.
Homer Fitzgerald
He’s really keen on meeting you right from the beginning.  He’s extroverted and generally happy and kind.  He’s probably on the front line to greet you.
He finds the fact that you’re from so far fun and he wants to know all about where you come from.  Asks a thousand questions and it’s easy to carried away by the wave of him.
This is a boy that respects boundaries.  No matter what step you’re at, he always asks until you’re comfortable enough for things to just be normal.
Literally the best boyfriend.  He’s enthusiastic about you and he falls hard quickly.  Wants to show you everything exciting in state.
He’s an active guy, so there might be a lot of outdoor excursions and hikes and the like.  If these aren’t your thing, he can compromise, but he’s going to wheedle you into one or two trips.  He’s proud of his home state of Texas and he wants to share that with you.
He’s fine to laze around too.  Cuddling is his favorite and he could snuggle with you forever.  Willing to watch whatever you want, even or especially movies from your home country.  He sees it as further insight into you
Because he’s used to defending Panther from racism, he’s very sensitive to it.  It’s probably the only time you will see him truly angry.  Racism/xenophobia is a very big NO in his books.  Would fight the world for his babe.

Unforgotten Night (2022) Ep 1
Tumblr media
My brat with a British accent wanted to write this together. Her once again covering the sub and me covering the Dom. I told her that she was a sadist and this was supposed to be bad. Iffy "noooooo, no, I'm just a special word for someone who wants you to suffer with me" You will be able to find the lovely iffy's companion post here.
It didn't help that I got so many requests to watch this. I think some of you are sadists. Is there something about doing this to a sadist that turns you on?? I included the Coconuts Mafia in my torture because if I'm going to take one, then the team should too. Thank you so much for the support and commentary! @biochemjess @suga4mycoffee read here @mematryoshkame @minisculecosmos @hereiswhereitbegan28 @akitbeast and their commentary here and Pebee. Also make sure to read @feralpansexual bdsm red flags post here
For those that know nothing about the series and this is your first time hearing about it: Kim (sub), a 25 year old office worker, has been in one sided love with his senior, Day, for a a long time. To forget about him and move on, he decides to have one night stand with a random stranger he met at the bar. What he didn't know was the stranger would start liking him to the point of no return. Kamol (Dom/Sadist), a 30 year old mafia, has some special needs in bed and so he keeps switching partners but no one is able to satisfy him. One night he meets Kim, who perfectly meets his needs. Right at that moment, Kamol decided to make the man his own.
Promo Poster
Seriously guys, what the fuck is that picture above. His FACE. "When you want to be tied up, but the idiot you're fucking doesn't know how to do it properly." I would like to be on the side of the Dom here but I can just hear the sub saying "Gotta do everything my damn self" Also, why are they using a glorified shoelace?? I mean, I haven't even started the episode yet and I'm dead. Where is the chemistry? What is it with these poses? They feel like their about to give a beginner's class in couples yoga with fun accessories.
Episode 1
So begins my drinking habit, I mean watch. No really, this turned into a drinking game. I took a shot every time a sub cries. I was tipsy by the end of the show. There was torture... Of the audience kind. Ellen DeGeneres shoes, constantly running water taps, 80's music and a horrible English breakfast with anemic sausage. On the plus side, I laughed a lot. I highly recommend as a group hate watch.
We meet Kamol as a "business tycoon" and you can tell they are trying to set an air of arrogance and command. The typical portrayal of a Dom. I didn't feel it though. I was deeply underwhelmed, he really wasn't giving strong power vibes. Ohhh, the ominous whisper "Something big is coming up." I'm all a flutter. Also, this might be an American thing but he just gave the weakest hang shake ever. As a Dom, I would be embarrassed. That's the one area where it is completely acceptable to have a pissing contest and you just barely held finger.
The next scene shows a weeping and marked up submissive. I've got no issue with one night stands but you still put the work in. Not only should there have been respect for limits but also aftercare. Instead he leaves him and has his bodyguards take him out. Can we get more Dom low class?
Why, yes we can "They always say they can take it but they never last" Yeah, okay. He wasn't any more satisfied than you buddy, so who is the real problem here? That's just stupid. You don't pick someone off the street and go, lets do a little whip and tickle. It takes a masochist to like pain and every masochist likes a different type of pain. This is like me asking if someone likes ice cream and then making them eat the flavor that's my favorite. Dumbass, I said I like ice cream, doesn't mean I like that ice cream.
Tumblr media
We have a lot of weepy sub scenes. Then the girls aka assistants, take their boss to the bar. I don't know how they thought this was a good idea. The music alone would cause me to cry and drink too much. However, it's at the bar that Kamol (aka shoelace Pillsbury Ceo) shows up and notices Kim. Finally we have the moment they meet. In a bathroom, because the mafia apparently really appreciate bathrooms.
Kim is stumbling drunk into the bathroom and Kamol thinks this is a brilliant. Follows him into the bathroom. Where we have the conversation of,
Kim "Are you starting at me"
Pillsbury "I'm staring at you"
Kim "you interested"
Pillsbury "Yes, you caught my eye"
All why the mother fucking water facet is going!!!
Weepy Sub "in that case can you help me forget him"
Pillsbury "As long as you can tolerate it" 🙄🙄 Because yes, I like chocolate chip ice cream and so will you! 🤦🏻‍♀️
Weepy "No problem, you can do whatever you want" that's a good way to get stds kid and then you'll really have something to cry about.
Oh look! We finally have the, you're drunk, who me talk. It went as expected. Weepy sub is now up against the bathroom counter. Managing to avoid the still running water! It's torturing me! This is not my flavor of masochism! Then he calls him Baby. Which fits weepy sub. It's a very accurate pet name.
Tumblr media
We show up at Pillsbury's place where they are magically changed into robes.... And they ones again talk about if baby is drunk. Yet they never talk about what kind of kink they are into. We apparently just gonna wing it, cause yeah that works. Guess we can blame it on him getting all hot and bothered at being called Mister. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media
The most consent talk we get is, you can suck this up right. And then he beaks out the Toys-R-Us cuffs that baby can easily slid right out of. He started him off real light with luke warm wax that's barely dripping. Yet we get this face.
Tumblr media
At this point, I'm thinking boy can't handle much. Then Pillsbury breaks out a horse flogger. You guys, I wasn't expecting accuracy and if you want me to give a break down of why the flogging was so fucking God Awful that I took two shots! I can. Needless to say it was grossly inaccurate but even that doesn't match the horror of this.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile his flogging is on the level of "I’m going to FLOG YOU……with kindness"
"W-would you like to talk to me about my childhood wounds as I whip you very gently"
On the plus side, there was a very nice, very accurate bite mark. I've got a bitting kink myself and no way THAT was fake, so kudos for that.
Tumblr media
Then the true torture again. Dripping faucet. While Pillsbury finally gives some kind of aftercare. A bath with sweet kisses. While whispering sweet nothings of "You are the one".. It's not much but it's finally something so we'll take it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then baby wakes up alone to a Best Western breakfast. Is it any wonder he booked it? Maybe start acting like a Dom and taking care of your subs? Hmm.
I can't leave you without mentioning the stick on tattoo.
Tumblr media
It shifts. For a second I thought we were going to get a shifter bl but they were just teasing. It's just a bad fake tattoo.
So there you have it. My torture is now our torture. Especially if you made it all the way through, what ever, that was that I wrote. Hope you got a few chuckles 💜💜💜

Home for the Cold Spell - Part One; December 21st
Tumblr media
For our one and only @the-lonelybarricade as part of her gift for the @acotargiftexchange! My dear, I owe you an apology - I really wanted to make it better but I eventually ran out of time and didn’t want to keep you waiting. Still, I hope you love it and can stand to read another few parts :)
Warnings: none (I think)
word count: ~3.9k
The first time Feyre left town for her birthday was not supposed to be a happy occasion. After months of working three jobs while continuing her studies at the community college, Feyre was looking forward to a cozy celebration with her sisters and friends. It didn’t matter to her that tensions were strained, it didn’t matter to her that they were all alone in the world. She was just happy to be making an effort, to belong somewhere in such an uncertain world.
Her sisters, apparently, did not feel the same.
Feyre’s knowledge of the English language was not advanced enough to know of any words that could adequately describe the city she had just arrived in.
Stunning could be one. Breathtaking could be another. But even those didn’t do it justice.
Old fashioned light posts lined the walkways, red metal benches could be found every dozen paces, and vast, snow capped mountains loomed over the bustling city. Like a cherry on top, holiday decor dripped from every surface; banners with the city emblem - three stars hovering above the Illyrian mountain range - hung beneath wreaths from each light post, silver and navy banners swept between awnings and windows, and bright, sparkling lights dripped from branches of every tree lining the main street. It was like she stepped out of the modern world and into a postcard.
And it was perfect.
Feyre felt as though she were walking through a dream, an entire world devised solely of what she had always wanted. A busy city that felt like a small town, towering mountains mingling with a winding river, and sparkling lights that put it all into a kaleidoscopic glow.
As if this wasn’t enough to hook her, the first thing Feyre stumbled upon was an entire section of the city dedicated to the arts. Immediately, she was drawn to a fabric shop on the corner with vast windows leaking a warm glow. She didn’t even like sewing as much as she liked painting, and yet her hands were itching to run along the shelves of material she spied from the outside.
The bell on the door made mention of her presence, but there was no one to be found behind the till or lurking between shelves. Tentatively, Feyre began exploring.
Bolts of fabric lined the floor to ceiling shelves; pine garlands were strung from the rafters and bordered the windows. Menorahs were placed in both front alcove windows, and a Christmas tree stood proud and shimmering at the front of the room. The shop smelled like cardamom and jasmine, and Feyre couldn’t get enough. Something about it felt so homey, so warm and calm and safe, that Feyre never wanted to leave.
What was most impressive about the interior were the gowns hanging from seamstress forms lining the bare pathways, a pale, shimmering one immediately catching her eye. She touched it reverently - almost hesitantly, as her work-worn, calloused hands brushed along the chiffon and beading. She halted at the price tag, figuring it would do no good to ruin a dream like that by turning the card over. Feyre had no doubt it was worth every penny the artist was asking, but simply by looking at it she knew she couldn’t afford it with her measly salary and underwhelming savings. Reluctantly, she moved on, eyeing a pair of silk dancing slippers she knew Nesta would love.
Lost in the shelves, Feyre pulled bolt after bolt of fabric and spent far too long sifting through an assortment of silk threads hand-spun in Velaris.
After nearly an hour of being lost in the shelves, she stepped up to the counter and set her items down with a thud, only to come face to face - or face to chest, really - with the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Honestly, he looked like a Greek god. Feyre was not proud to admit that her jaw actually dropped.
Autopilot took full-throttle of the situation as she told him how much of each fabric she wanted, and she was pretty sure she asked for the wrong amount more than once. But she couldn’t really bring herself to care.
The man's hair was so dark it seemed to drink the light; it swirled around his temples and curled at his forehead in tidy cowlicks. His entire physique was that of a sculpture, as if every toned muscle and elegant bone hidden beneath his sweater had been carved by Michelangelo himself. But truly, it was his eyes that had Feyre so mesmerized. His eyes were so blue they were nearly violet; so blue she wanted to swim in them, sketch them, paint them.
It was a shame he had to open his mouth.
His gaze flicked back up to hers as he wrapped the slippers - far more affordable than the dress of starlight. “There you go, darling.” His voice was smooth as velvet, practically a purr. “Is there anything else I can get for you? Buttons? Pin cushion? Clothing patterns?” He folded the last panel and leaned over the cutting mat, the epitome of suave cockiness. “A date, perhaps?”
Just like that, the enchantment broke. Feyre shook her head and rolled her eyes, handing him a wad of cash to pay for her purchases.
The man took it, brushing her hand as he did so. “No? Then, what about a kiss?
She scoffed. “Bite me.”
“Is that an invitation, darling? Surely you know I wouldn’t even dream of doing something like that. At least, not without knowing your name.” He winked one mischievous, violet eye at her, and Feyre flushed. She told herself it was from anger.
“Prick.”
He quirked one perfectly manicured brow. “Prick? Really? I find it hard to believe your parents would choose such a crude name for someone as beautiful as you.”
She glared daggers at him; he knew exactly what she meant. “You.” She growled. “You’re a prick.”
The man only grinned wider and stuck out his hand. “No, I’m Rhysand.”
Feyre hated his sly smirk. She hated his weird eyes. She hated his symmetrical face. Really, every last detail about this man was obnoxious. And it was ruining her vacation.
She batted his hand away. “Not interested. Happy holidays to you.” Without another glance, Feyre brushed past the counter and left the shop, stomping down the snowy stoop so harshly she nearly slipped.
The nerve of men. So arrogant. So smug. So egotistical. She truly couldn’t believe the audacity of people.
It wasn’t until she was blocks from the shop - grumbling and cursing the entire way - that she realized she left without her purchases. A fat stack of gorgeous fabric she intended to use as holiday gifts, left in the clutches of the prick. Of course.
Feyre’s overnight holiday was not turning out to be quite the escape she had planned.
She stomped her feet where she stood, trying to keep blood circulating to her toes. Feyre figured she could woman up, turn around, and take the walk of shame back to the shop where she would surely be greeted with that heinous grin. Or… she could keep exploring and make the most of her time in the city, picking up her purchases before leaving the next morning. Feyre felt there was only one obvious answer.
And so she proceeded, poking around in art shops, walking along the river, and strolling through parks. She captured the beauty of the mountains through the lens of her camera and began dozens of mental sketches depicting the people she saw and places she went. Before she knew it, her day was nearly over, and Feyre was sorely regretting making reservations for only one night. Her mind overflowed with shapes and colors, ideas and images.
Her train didn’t leave until early the next morning, and already she missed Velaris. Something about the city, bustling yet peaceful, felt like home. For the first time in years, Feyre felt like she truly belonged. And she wanted to cling to the feeling with every bit of strength in the hopes it would make everything else fall away.
As the sun began to set, Feyre finally made her way to the building she had most anticipated: Velaris Museum of Art.
The stairs were icy, and she traversed them slowly and carefully, until she hit the very last step. She threw her hands out for balance, but it was too late. Feyre slipped on a patch of ice-covered snow, only to be caught by large, strong hands at the last second. When she regained her footing enough to look up at her savior, her smile dropped.
“There you are,” A voice softer than velvet, right in her ear, made her shudder despite the warmth of the person. “I’ve been looking for you.”
***
The woman had caught his eye across the street as she made her way towards the Velaris Museum of Art. He would notice her anywhere, anytime, in a crowd of millions. Especially after searching for her the entire day. Her honey brown hair, her constellations of freckles, her piercing blue eyes, her attitude. You’d have to be a fool to not notice it all, to not love it all.
Up close, these qualities were even more magnificent. And perhaps to anyone else, her attitude would be a nuisance, her ice-blue eyes nothing more than that. But to Rhysand, that attitude drew him in like a magnet, and those ice-blue eyes seemed to watch the world in an entirely different way. To say his curiosity was piqued would have been understatement.
“Have you been stalking me this entire afternoon?” She pulled away, and Rhysand watched her straighten her coat and smooth her hair. “You shouldn’t do that.”
“But darling, how else was I supposed to return your purchases to you?” He held out a paper bag with the shop name printed across the front, a peace offering. “And if I weren’t here just now, who’s to say you wouldn’t have gotten hurt from slipping on the ice.”
She took the bag from his hand. “Thank you, Rhysand.” She tucked a wisp of hair behind her ear before tentatively going up the last step. “I hope you have a good holiday season and New Year. Take care.”
“Hold on, darling.” He stuffed his hands in his pockets and stepped around her, smoothly avoiding the ice and cutting her off. “I still don’t know your name.”
“Why does it matter?” She crossed her arm, and though the bag on her wrist banged her in the side it didn’t ruin the effect her stare had.
“I figure a name for a name sounds fair.” Rhys shrugged.
She rolled her eyes but stuck her hand out nonetheless. “My name’s Feyre. Now would you please move so that I can see the museum and get out of the cold?”
“Of course, darling.”
“It’s Feyre.”
“Of course, Feyre.”
But still, he didn’t move, just stood there with an impish grin. She stepped around him, and Rhys heard her mumble Prick, under her breath. It only egged him on.
He made it fifteen feet into the museum lobby before Feyre turned suddenly. “Why are you following me?”
Rhys made a show of looking to the side, then behind him, then to the other side. Wide eyed, he placed a hand on his chest. “Me?”
“Yes, you. Why are you following me?”
“Darling, surely you understand this is a public place. I just happened to plan on visiting the museum today. Is there something wrong with that?” They both knew that wasn’t true. His smile dared her to call him out.
“You. Need. To. Stop. It.” She poked him in the chest to emphasize each word. “I am not going on a date with you. By the Mother, would you please let me go about my business in peace?”
“Of course,” He held up his hands in surrender. “I’m not stopping you. Enjoy yourself, Ms. Feyre.”
He waited a moment as she stepped into the queue, then stepped in himself after a rambunctious family with many children separated the two.
It was after he made it into the exhibits, when he was admiring the Mother’s most beautiful work of art, that something hit him square in the face. It snapped Rhys from his reverie, and he could only imagine what he looked like as he glanced around with wide eyes. A silk slipper lay at his feet.
He’d been staring right at Feyre and not even flinched when she had pulled a silk slipper from one of her bags and thrown it right at him.
“I told you to leave me alone!” She stormed up to him, a second slipper in her hand. “Why are you following me? Go away, you prick!”
“Feyre darling, there are children here.” And security. A woman in a dark uniform with a radio on her belt quickly approached them.
“Ma’am,” Her voice was soft but firm, careful to not draw attention to the situation. “May I ask what’s going on here?”
“Forgive me, miss.” Rhysand spoke before Feyre could, somewhat guilty for their predicament. He figured he wouldn’t earn points for getting her kicked out of the museum. “The name is Rhysand Moreno.” Her eyes widened and he continued speaking before she could interrupt. “You see, I was being… What did you say, darling? A prick, I believe? And she was certainly correct and handled it accordingly. I am entirely responsible. But I promise you, we’ll be much more considerate from here on out. Won’t we darling?” Rhys figured a wink wouldn’t hurt the situation. Behind him, Feyre huffed, and he could practically hear her eye roll.
“Ah, I see.” The woman’s cheeks flushed. Triumph flickered in Rhysand’s chest. “Well, I’ll let you off with a warning, but I’m afraid I will have to escort you both out if you can’t control yourselves.”
“I understand. Thank you, ma’am.” He turned to Feyre. “Now, that wasn’t very nice of you.”
“You’re-” Feyre began, then took a breath. “Rhysand. I appreciate you returning my purchases to me. But now you have completed your mission, and I would like to move on. I am only here for my birthday and would appreciate it if you let me enjoy myself.”
“It’s your birthday?” She nodded. “Of course, Feyre darling. I would be more than happy to grant you your birthday wish.” He leaned in closer, and he saw the resolve in her eyes gutter. “But as I said earlier, I already had plans to visit the museum today.” Her glare chilled Rhys to his very marrow. He knew he’d never get enough of the feeling. “I suppose the most beautiful things in life are better when experienced with friends, and nobody should be alone on their birthday. Please join me, darling. I look forward to seeing Van Gogh’s work, but would be so lonely without you.” Without another word, he looped her arm through his and led the way.
***
Feyre didn’t know what to think. This beautiful man was the most infuriating person she had ever met. Relentless, obnoxious, entitled. None of those were good qualities. But his one saving grace was not his looks; it was the fact that he didn’t feel… wrong. There was no sleazy persona to him, there was no malicious glint in the depths of eyes. His grip was loose, so loose they barely made contact. Though their arms remained looped together, he was careful to not touch her anywhere else, and she didn’t once catch him peeking down her shirt. Even Feyre couldn’t claim innocence to that.
She found herself looking at him just as much as the artwork, a truth she would never confess as long as she lived. She ought to have been appreciating the historical, one-of-a-kind pieces surrounding them, pieces she had only ever dreamed of seeing in person. But… Michelangelo. Up close, she could see the perfect, sharp edge of his jaw, the tendons in his neck, the veins in his hands. The tips of his collar bones peeked out from his black sweater, and Feyre couldn’t stop her mind from wandering further south.
Perhaps it was the colors and shapes of the art that surrounded them - a language Feyre truly understood - or the comfort of having someone by her side after so many years spent alone. Either way, she felt far more relaxed than she expected.
When Rhysand broke their silence with a question, Feyre surprised herself by answering.
“I assume you like art?”
Feyre chuckled. “That’s an understatement. I love art. I love it so much that I’m studying it at the community college back home.”
“Ah,” His eyes sparkled, and Feyre had never wished she had a camera more. “Impressive. How long? I study political science here at U of V. I graduate in the spring.”
“Lucky,” She laughed, suddenly self conscious. “I’m just starting; I’ve got two years to go. But I’ve been painting since I was little.” When there was nothing else to do, no one else to be around; when her family had fallen apart and she was left in the crossfire with nothing but art as a defense.
“Could you show me some of your work?”
Just like that, the arrogant prick was gone, replaced with… a man. A gorgeous man. A man who, despite keeping his arm looped through hers, respected her personal space. A man that was showing interest in her art instead of blowing it off as some pipe dream.
“I…” They stopped, and Feyre moved her arm to face him fully. There they were, stopped in front of a Frida Kahlo, and he was asking to see her artwork? “It’s.. Are you serious?”
“Why wouldn’t I be? You’re so beautiful, I can’t begin to imagine what your art must look like.”
It was bad. It was so bad, even he couldn’t keep a straight face. Feyre tried not to laugh. Really, she did. But she just couldn’t help it.
“That is one of the worst pick-up lines anyone has ever used on me,” She gasped out. “And my ex-boyfriend thought calling my hair ‘clean’ was a compliment.” She dug through her purse, opening her phone to a picture of her favorite painting. “But here you go. Don’t judge. As I said, I’m a student. It’s nothing as good as…” she gestured around the entire room. “This.”
“I think I will be the judge of that,” He winked at her as she handed over her phone, but quickly sobered when he focused on it. “That’s…” he trailed off, not taking his eyes from the picture. Feyre nudged him out of the way of people who were there to look at real art, and he hardly even noticed.
His silence was unnerving. “I do promise it looks better in person,” Feyre wrung her hands. “The lighting at the time just wasn’t very good, but-”
“This is perfect.” FInally, he looked up at her. Feyre waited for an impish grin to take over, or for him to start laughing and shout ‘gotcha!’, but he never did. He just handed her phone back to her and asked, “Can I buy a painting from you?”
“I don’t-”
A staticky voice came over the speakers, announcing the museum would be closing. Something sank in the pit of Feyre’s stomach as the end of her stay began to feel all too real. Her train left early in the morning, and she didn’t have the means to visit again for a long time.
“Let’s walk and talk.” Rhysand said, proffering his arm once again. “I’m intrigued. Your work is beautiful, and I would love to gift one of your pieces to my mother next Hanukkah or christmas.”
Now they stepped out into the cold, and as a gust of icy mountain wind blew around them, Feyre pressed closer to Rhysand. For warmth, she told herself.
“I have a proposition for you, Feyre darling,”
Feyre pulled her arm from his and began putting her mittens on. “It better not be another invitation to a date.”
“That was part of it…” When Feyre sent him a death glare, he only winked. “I will make a deal with you. You create a painting for me to give to my mother - any style, medium, and design you deem appropriate - and I will do whatever you wish in return. Be it a date, a tour of the city, or perhaps a nude modeling session. I work out quite often, you know. I’m a perfect specimen.” He wiggled his eyebrows.
“Rhysand-”
“Rhys is fine, please.”
Feyre huffed. “Rhys-”
“Oh,” His smile turned wicked. “And you personally have to deliver the painting directly to me.”
Feyre gaped at him, and she spoke the first thing that came to her mind. “I have never, in my entire life, met anyone as arrogant as you.”
“Why thank you. I do try, you know.” That smirk again.
Feyre knew she wouldn’t do what she was about to do if she was wholeheartedly against it, but she still chose to feign reluctance. Perhaps it was from a childhood where she was given no choice, or perhaps it stemmed from previous relationships where her input had mattered little. Whatever the case, it was safer to be annoyed and distant than to look the truth in the eye.
“I will agree to your deal on one condition.” Feyre huffed and placed her mitten-clad hands on her hips.
“Oh?” He drew the syllable out, raising his eyebrows in sly curiosity. “Do tell.”
“I agree to personally bring you your commission, and you will do…” Feyre considered the possibilities. “Whatever I decide I want you to do, as long as our exchange will take place 365 days from now.”
Rhysand’s grin, which had been growing ever more confident with each word she uttered, fell flat. The satisfaction Feyre felt at the sight burned bright.
He cleared his throat, and tried to plaster the smile back on. It was amusing. Even slightly endearing. “An entire year? Darling, surely you don’t want to wait that long, especially if it means seeing my face again.”
“Not everyone can afford to travel that often, you know.” And she wanted a trip to Velaris to become her own birthday tradition.
“Well, darling, if that’s the only thing preventing you from gracing our city with your presence, then please let me pay for your train ticket.”
“Ah-ah,” Feyre moved to wag her finger, but remembered the mittens and thought better of it. “You’re clever, Rhysand, but so am I. I’m not letting you do anything else for me, lest you use it as leverage for another silly bargain.”
He opened his mouth, then shut it. There was no trace of mischief to be found on his face. His eyes were clear of that sly spark, his mouth was not turned up in that smug grin. He simply looked thoughtful, his smile small and genuine.
“Well then, I suppose I will just have to wait three hundred and sixty five days.”
***
The next morning, when Feyre’s train departed, she was not thinking about the glowing city or looming mountain range. Rather, it was Rhys’ violet eyes that crept into her mind and stayed with her long after she arrived at her destination. Those eyes followed her back home, all the way to her studio, her kitchen, her bedroom. They stayed vigilant in their watch. During late nights with her sketch pad and lazy weekends in front of her easel, she would zone out for indiscernible periods of time and jolt back into reality, only to be met with those endless violet eyes.
Master list for this fic :)

Can I get recs for anime this season? I'm not sure what else is good apart from spy x family and ya boy kongming
Please don’t feel offended but I laughed inaudibly for a solid five or so minutes reading this because I had no idea that the English title for Paripi Koumei was Ya Boy Kongming. Also, I’m sorry for taking so long to reply! Life happened. 😅
Okay, on what I’m watching this season!
1. Kawaii Dake Janai Shikimori-san
Tumblr media
Been following the manga for a long time now. It’s one of my favorite romance shounen. I see it everywhere whenever I go to Animate. The anime is a bit different from the manga because it’s going by chronological order, though! Definitely one of the best titles this season.
2. Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These - Gekitotsu
Tumblr media
I’m an absolute sucker for Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu and will watch as many remakes of it as they make. But if it’s your first time watching this one, I recommend watching from the very beginning and also watching the older titles of the franchise.
3. Summer time Render
Tumblr media
Pretty solid piece up to this point. The animation quality is also one of the best this season. Reminds me a lot of Kagerou Project. Also, the opening theme is a banger.
4. Komi-san wa Komyushou Desu 2
Tumblr media
I recommend you watch the first season if you haven’t yet! It’s very cute and funny. Even funnier if you look up the characters’ names and what they mean.
5. Aoashi
Tumblr media
Sports seinen! First time in a while, if I’m not mistaken. You might see this and think, “Oh, great, yet another anime about soccer”, but this one isn’t about nationals or things like that. It’s straight-up about the path to becoming a professional player. It’s a lot more serious than an average sports anime, so if that rocks your boat, do give it a try!
6. Aharen-san wa Hakarenai
Tumblr media
Another slice of life. This one is really good to watch when you just want to relax and not think of anything.
7. Dance Dance Danseur
Tumblr media
Pretty nice adaptation of a really good anime. I’m not gonna lie, though - all the dance animes I’ve watched until now are a little bit underwhelming. Like, it feels like they all lack something essential, but I don’t know what it is. This one is no exception to that, but it’s still a good one.
8. Heroine Tarumono
Tumblr media
I’m HaniWa trash. Their stuff is really cliche but, hey! Anything to support one your favorite once-underground creators.
9. Gunjou no Fanfare
Tumblr media
Another horse anime but this one is actually normal. I’d give it a try just for that. Not a masterpiece but not bad either.

LE SSERAFIM - "EASY"
youtube
Maybe enable Hard Mode next time...?
[5.83]
TA Inskeep: A snap music breakdown and a mightily bass-heavy track are two things I didn't expect from one of K-pop's hottest girl groups; LE SSERAFIM really are making it look easy here (sorry). "Easy" just glides along, so smooth. [7]
Kayla Beardslee: For a song about making it look easy, there isn’t much about the topline of this song that sounds like it requires work in the first place. LE SSERAFIM are at their best when they’re going hard over a beat that requires the utmost commitment, but this is just a bland rip of dated hip-hop trends with a recorder loop that makes me want to scratch my ears out. RIP fall 2022 TSJ, you would have loved “Antifragile.” [3]
Leah Isobel: "Easy" doesn't feel quite so resolutely its own thing the way that "Antifragile" and "Eve, Psyche, and the Bluebeard's Wife" did; it's basically a Tinashe song. I love Tinashe! [7]
Michael Hong: On "Good Bones," another of the group's fascinating intros, that final line sounds earned: "easy, crazy, hot, I can make it." Maybe it's not really, maybe these words they spit and scream are profound only to themselves, better answered with a shrug and a "well, yeah." But as they motor through the amped-up instrumental, they sell it: "in the end, we all die / half of our life will be suffering," Kazuha mutters. The drums are aching and the guitar roars back at her, but it's this bite that makes it so fascinating, the hint of weakness and vulnerability that makes the group's confidence act feel appropriate. On "Easy," LE SSERAFIM's rough edges are sanded down as they huff and puff over the dry instrumental, the titular word wheezed out with the autotuned-backing sounding like a necessary support. The anxious rush that made "Good Bones" feel so astounding is absent as LE SSERAFIM sound like dolls here, their confidence a blankly feigned act. [2]
Will Rivitz: If "making it look easy" is doing at-home Positions karaoke sprawled on your couch while your friends ignore you to scroll Insta, then sure, I guess. [3]
Katherine St. Asaph: Pleasant! Also situated exactly on the edge of sounding dated -- as in, I genuinely cannot tell whether it does or not. [6]
Ian Mathers: I'm not sure what's actually making that flute-like loop you hear at the beginning (and throughout); maybe it's a specific instrument I'm not familiar with, but it sounds to me like a wonky recorder and partly as a result of that it's very charming. It brings a fittingly casual air to a song about making it look easy, like surely you can pull off this kind of vibe with just about any kind of materials? I'm not even sure what does or does not qualify as "trap" anymore (if I ever knew) but surely if this does it's one of the least outwardly aggressive expressions of the form. Kinda works, honestly. [7]
Taylor Alatorre: I don't know if it was intentional that nearly all of the casually badass "I run this shit"-type lyrics are sung in English, while the admissions of imperfection and struggle are, from the non-Korean audience's perspective, hidden behind a language barrier. But with Le Sserafim, a group that takes such pride in their meticulously crafted identity that they sing their own name twice on a 5-song EP, nothing seems to be unintentional. Having built their brand upon anthems of disruption and defiance, "EASY" serves as a well-timed reprieve from all the noise, a chance to sprawl themselves out over a melodic trap beat, count their checks, and survey all they've conquered. They resist any temptations toward showiness that might upend the carefully composed balance, confident that a line like "rip it up like ballet" will make its genius known even if it isn't shouted from the rafters. [8]
Daniel Montesinos-Donaghy: As another example of LE SSERAFIM's inspira-pop, "Easy" is initially underwhelming with a light trap beat and flute riff: it sounds lightweight following singles like "Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard’s Wife." That's also the strength of the song -- "Easy" sounds easy but not tossed-off, proving their point. It's confident. It's not their best, but it works. [7]
Nortey Dowuona: Amanda Ibanez you will always be famous with the Technicians. [9]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: Not the best sleek K-pop dance track named "Easy" out there but a perfectly fine substitute in a pinch. LE SSERAFIM have been more interesting than this on every one of their prior singles, but the cool, cipher-like nature of "Easy" suits them oddly well -- against a trap beat generic enough that I wondered if it were a sample of something from Atlanta circa 2017, the five of them muster a poise that they lacked on some of their earlier work. It's solid enough, but the closer you examine it the less there is to truly love here. [6]
Alfred Soto: Too easy. [5]

I’m just gonna say it! blackpink’s new song sucks lol I have never been so underwhelmed in my life like the only good things i can say are that they all looked good (but when do they not tbh so that doesn’t count) Jisoo sounded nice and that was the best english rap they ever gave (which is not saying a lot if you’ve heard the japanese versions of their songs) but yeah like... usually the chorus would get stuck in my head but this time i was just confused? like what are they talking about... like i think saying “taste that pink venom” and “straight to your dome” is sexual but in a way that just made me cringe like it wasn’t sexy?? and if it was supposed to be sexy then why are they saying “i bring the pain like ratatata” like what is happening?? if someone’s pink venom is bringing the pain straight to your dome you need to get tested for STIs lol also when Lisa said “one by one then two by two” I remembered pon de replay and was like oh i could be listening to rihanna rn and not this lol. the drop especially was sooo underwhelming at least teddy would usually give us really good hype drops at the end but it was giving me nothingg!! so not only is it the same teddy formula that i got bored of but its my least favorite of all their songs. I’ve already been feeling like stepping away from blackpink but i thought that with a new album maybe we’ll hear more of a range and it’ll be good this time but now I’m worried I’ll just feel the way I did when I first heard The Album and be disappointed again :\

Scrunkore Media "Thread" 2023: Part 1
Tumblr media
welcome to the scrunko core
1) Drill Dozer (GBA, 2005)
I'm a big fan of characters with big fuckin' drills, and Jill is definitely one of the more fun ones to play as while you mow down goons (including cops) and navigate platforming levels. It's a bit underwhelming in some areas, but it has a fun and energetic style, and I respect what the final boss fight does. A solid non-Pokémon offering from Game Freak, check it out sometime and maybe track down the cute little prologue comic too. [4★]
2) Kirby Fighters 2 (Switch, 2020)
Kirby is hardly a stranger to platform fighters, being in Smash and all, but having his own one is pretty novel - even if the characters who really steal the show are Meta Knight and King Dedede with their partnership in this one. The game itself is a fun little brawler that will take a few hours to beat mostly because of how long the harder parts of story mode can take, and it's full of fun powers and characters that you can use, but I'm not good enough at fighting games to say if it's really a good one. I enjoyed my time with it, though. [3.5★]
3) Sonic The Hedgehog: The Movie/OVA (Anime, 1996)
Strange, isn't it? Toei's original Sonic "movie" has plenty of oddities like an annoying anime catgirl who I actually kinda love, a silly old owl guy and Knuckles rocking that cowboy hat, and these honestly give it a unique charm. In terms of the main qualities, it's fairly nice to look at with good music and a really fun fight against Metal Sonic towards the end - I must say it's nothing spectacular until then, but I found it to be decent fun. English dub is pretty average for the time, which is to say not great, but it's also kind of iconic? Just a neat little part of Sonic history really, if you like the funny blue hedgehog you should probably check it out. [3.5★]
4) Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (Movie, 2022)
It's kind of crazy how much more interesting this is than the first movie, it wasn't even on my radar until the trailer showed off some of the excellent animated action that the final movie is filled with. I'm glad I checked it out, because this movie is a really fun adventure that also manages to not pull many punches with its darker theme, but it also has some rather silly bits, and I'll admit the bear family storyline actually touched my heart. Excellent villains too, with the terrifying wolf relentlessly hunting Puss, and the comically evil Jack Horner just being a dick the whole time. It's just a damn good movie with some great-looking animation, and I'm oddly excited for the future of the Shrek franchise now??? Thank You Pussy Boots [5★]
5) Super Kirby Clash (Switch, 2019)
Hope you like Kirby boss fights, because that's basically all this game is, with only four (admittedly somewhat new-feeling) abilities to choose from and a whole lot of grinding to be done on them if you want to actually finish the game. There are also microtransactions, but the game is nice enough to give you a limit on them, so I can't really complain about them that much, and you don't need to use them anyway. The fights are fine, pretty standard Kirby fare, and it was nice to see Nightmare from Kirby's Adventure get some acknowledgement. I didn't mind this one. [3★]
6-7) Chainsaw Man (Manga/Anime, 2018-Present)
Tatsuki Fujimoto's Wild Ride has been a hot topic for a while, and it's easy to see why, with the absolutely wild pacing, visceral fight scenes/massacres and great use of horror elements with movie influences that are worn on its sleeve. It's an intense and violent series that still has heart and likes to fuck around sometimes, effectively using themes of control and desire and struggling in a hellish world yet still maintaining hope, it's something with a vibe you don't see often and I'm still eagerly following the manga as it comes out. The first "part" of the manga is done, which is what I mainly made this about, and the anime adaptation is fantastic so I hope it continues at least to the end of that. Give it a go, I'd say it lives up to the hype. [5★ so far]
8) Metroid Prime Remastered (Switch, 2023)
I'd been putting off playing Metroid Prime for no real reason for a while, and then Nintendo randomly dropped the first game in HD on the Switch one afternoon, which pushed me to give it a shot. I'm glad I did, because Metroid works really well in the FPS format, which isn't the type of game I usually play so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it in the end. There's the odd annoying room or brutal boss fight, and I'm not 100% about the whole visor gimmick, but as someone who loves Metroid, it does Metroid about as well as I could hope. Now, though, I really want them to put the other two games on the Switch too, because using a modern standard controller for this game feels too good to give up... [4.5★]
9) Pizza Tower (PC, 2023)
The indie darling of at least the first few months of the year, it's easy to see why people love this game - it's like that one Wario Land game, but with incredibly strong cartoon influence and also the Shinespark, and all of this works in its favour. It's a super satisfying action-packed platformer with a combo and ranking system that keeps you coming back for more, though I was never good enough to get more than an A rank myself. Bosses are fun and creative too, with a really good final one, and the aesthetic fits it perfectly, not to mention the absolutely incredible music. I don't think it's quite perfect, as there are some levels I'm not too fond of and there is the odd questionable enemy design, but it's damn good game anyway. [4.5★]
10) Kurukuru Kururin (GBA, 2001)
Okay, I see what this game was going for, and it's a good gimmick - rotating a pipe-shaped ship through increasingly difficult mazes while trying not to hit the sides or you'll die works just fine, and if I had more patience, maybe I'd actually love this game. But I kind of don't, and a lot of the difficulty of the game just feels more annoying than anything else, so I can't say I'm a big fan of this one. Multiplayer does look fun, and I guess the birds are cute, but I don't have that much else to say about this other than "eh not my thing". Can't say it's awful though, I still finished it with save states. [2.5★]
11) Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Switch, 2018)
I honestly did like the Captain Toad levels in Super Mario 3D World, so having a full game of them is pretty nice. The box garden diorama type levels full of items for Toad to collect are cute and fun, often short and sweet, and although a lot of them may be kind of a breeze, it absolutely will get hard if you try to do a more completionist route. There are also boss fights, but I don't think they're much to write home about, and they kinda repeat a couple times throughout the game, but they don't really hurt. I like that this version added Odyssey levels too, it's probably the best version of the game if you had to pick just one. It's nice fun, that's all really. [3.5★]
12) Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe (Switch, 2023)
Return to Dreamland/Adventure Wii was the start of what is honestly one of my favourite eras of the Kirby series, and this polished remake shows that it's still just as good as it was back on the Wii. Typical fun campaign with everyone's favourite treacherous egg Magolor doing his thing, with a whole new mode starring the fellow after you beat it - the new mode is cool as hell by the way, it's not very long but it's really good extra content that fleshes out the lore. There are also a shit-ton of minigames from across the seires in this one thanks to Merry Magoland, each with their own challenges to complete, and you get funny masks to wear in the main game for doing so. Arena is still here too, and it's good to see Galacta Knight again after he got screwed over in Star Allies. This game's just a complete package, I only wish it had online multiplayer. [4.5★]
13) Blue Reflection Ray (Anime, 2021)
This one's just kind of alright, I would not have watched it had I not done it for someone I loved, but I enjoyed my time with it. It's a sort-of spinoff of a game series about gay magical girls protecting emotions from being erased, and I do really like what they did with that idea. So many of these girls are traumatised, and it explores said trauma in a way that I found rather effective, they didn't do a bad job with that. The character designs are pretty nice too, particularly when they're in their typical magical girl forms. The story itself isn't too bad, but I did get a bit bored sometimes, and the production values aren't anything to really take notice of - pretty standard fare there. I can see why my girl likes this anime, and I found plenty to enjoy about it too, but I don't think it really had much of an impact on me. It was fine, no shade from me here. [3.5★]

Album Review: Dance Gavin Dance - Dance Gavin Dance
Hey all!~ Hope you enjoy my review, I'm trying out a new format for the first time, so this is my dry run to see how it looks! :3
Tumblr media
Thoughts on the album: Dance Gavin Dance has made so much music that has made my ears happy, as morally dubious of a band as they are. I'm a huge fan of the late 2000s post-hardcore sound, its much more intimate and honest feeling than modern offerings, feeling much more sterile. This album captures what I enjoy about that sound perfectly. It's an album that has a lot of expression and character, a distinct fun factor permeating the atmosphere of it. In true post-hardcore fashion, the guitar work and harmonies is (in most cases) immaculate, and keeps my silly ADHD brain very occupied, ESPECIALLY when listening with headphones, as the stereo mix is taken full advantage of. This album neither overstays its welcome or is too short, and has several absolute bangers to make it really memorable overall. This is a very danceable and singable album, which makes me happy, as someone who loves doing both to my music. There are a few tracks that don't hold my attention as well, but that's more than made up with the highs of this album. I'm a sucker for Kurt vocals too because I can match his sound pretty well.
And now we move on to the other section of the review, where I rate a couple extra aspects of the album concerning how well it sounds production wise, and how much it sounds like an album rather than just a collection of singles, I call this the cohesion factor.
Album Cohesion: The songs flow together well, and while there is no overarching concept, the songs do not feel as though they're individual singles slapped on an album. Exactly how a non concept album should feel.
Production Quality: Bass could be louder, however the rest of the instruments are mixed very well, and the vocals are placed very well in the mix too.
Track Thoughts:
Alex English: A very strong opening track, it has some very memorable sections. 4.5/5
Buffalo!: A song that's incredibly fun to sing and groove along to, short and sweet. 4.5/5
Me and Zoloft Get Along Just Fine: One of the most hard hitting choruses I've ever heard in a song, truly lovely. This is one of those "not a second wasted" type songs. 5/5
The Robot with Human Hair Pt. 3: The verses could be stronger, but there is also some amazing sections in this song, especially the middle and end bits. 4/5
Hot Water on Wool: Wonderful vocal harmonizing at the beginning, lovely opening. I love that there's delay guitar in the left channel and a more typical tone in the right, it keeps my mind very occupied. Truly a great song that has a great flow. The verse that starts with "maybe I'll sleep through a century" always has me singing along. 5/5
Hot Water on Wool (Reprise): Confusedly, this song was broken up into 2 parts, but it essentially still is the same song. Has some amazing guitar harmonies and goofy instrumental antics. 5/5
Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most: The Dance Gavin Dance song, if there ever was one. A very lovely and catchy song, albeit a bit basic. I do very much enjoy it, but I don't feel as strongly about the compositional depth. 4/5
Caviar: A really pretty song, I really like the vocal trade offs with the guest singer, it works well. 4.5/5
Rock Solid: The lyrics and vibe of this song are really silly, but I think it adds to it a bit. The bit with Jon and Kurt is charming and funny and the outro is absolutely spellbinding. 4.5/5
Burning Down the Nicotine Armoire Pt. 2: Very nice bass lines, TASTY grooves once Kurt comes in with plucky sounding delayed guitar riffs in the background, overlaid with vocal harmonies. The chorus is incredibly tasty too. The refrain leaves a bit to be desired though. 4.5/5
Reprogramming Mental Preprogramming: This song is alright, I find it misses its mark in terms of catchiness or grooviness. It's not a bad song by any means, it's just one of the underwhelming songs of the album. 3.5/5
Skyhook: Great guitar harmonies and all the sections feel placed well. This song is short, and feels even shorter with how well it flows. 4.5/5
People You Know: This is the other song on the album that doesn't particularly do all that much for me. It's okay, but not amazing, feels underwhelming as a closer. I'm also not a big fan of the 2000s "hidden song" trope (save for The Man Land by BTBAM, its hilarious), and the hidden song here doesn't offer much. 3/5
Closing Thoughts: This is an incredibly fun album, from the bombastic instrumentals to the silly and also emotional vocals. This album has been a mainstay in my rotation and gets the Lily stamp of approval. <3
OVERALL ALBUM RATING: 4.5/5

I adore ROTB
Sort of spoilers. I do my best not to.
I haven’t had much time to reflect on it but ahhhhhh it was so goood! This was the first time I’ve seen a transformers film in theaters and I was losing my mind but trying to be quiet.
But I just LOVE the way the maximals (idk if that’s how you spell it- I have a strictly casual relationship with the English language) move. Like Airrazor talking looked amazing to me and I loved how Primal’s nose would move sometimes. Cheetor’s run cycle! I eat that shit upppppp!! Cheetor in general was really well designed to me. I hope I can get a good toy of him (I already picked up the SS Airrazor). Cheetahs are my favorite animals even if they constantly shoot themselves in the foot, evolutionary wise. The maximals look very good IMO and I’m happy they finally got decent 3D renders. I love how big they all are as well. Like these things could destroy just about anything on earth. I also like the voices for the Maximals.
The humans were also really good. I love Noah’s relationship with his little brother and the conflict with him felt realistic and very grounded in the alien car movie. His friendship with Mirage did feel a little rushed but honestly that worked with the way he was characterized I think. Like Mirage seemed so desperate for a non auto bot friendship and he seemed to have a general affinity for humans not dissimilar to Bumblebee’s.
Also the part where Bee put on his battle mask caused me and the person who was sitting next to me to lose out collective minds. I don’t care if it’s cheesy, pull that stick out of your ass and enjoy the action! Enjoy the drama!
Also I love Mirage’s face. I wish he looked less like Jazz in his alt mode but honestly his bot mode is so cool so I don’t care that much. I also like OP’s face. It’s sort of modeled after Peter Collin’s face so it’s marvelous. I think they should have changed Wheeljacks name to Perceptor, especially sense BB movie design for Wheeljack was just so perfect but also Pablo is my son and he’s so fantastic and I love him and I’m not gonna be person 1,983 hating on this design.
Scourge was alright. I didn’t see the face reveal as too much of an issue or even note it that much in my mind. I think the fact that he collects insignia’s is really cool in a fucked up sort of way. Like it isn’t enough to just kill someone and destroy there home he also needs to disgrace their bodies. It’s also a weird way of keeping track of his victories. I thought it was kind of neat. He’s not that deep and it’s a little bit underwhelming when I think about it. Like I wish the movie had more time to do things. Because to me it didn’t feel that long, I think some extra time would have done it good.
There is a character who died who I think, realistically, should have been able to be revived and I wish that they were. Also a character gets killed and I think the maximals should have been the ones to kill them. I wish the maximals got more screen time. The movie was fairly fast paced. The movie is only 2 hours and 7 minutes long. Which is still 2 hours but I think having it go a little longer would have helped a lot of characters.
The reveal at the end almost made me scream like holy shit. I was expecting something but not THAT. I really hope we can see more decepticons next movie. Like Skywarp as a main antagonist would be so cool. Think of the fight scenes. Think of the teleportation. Think of another purple movie robot. Please. Pleassseeee.
I though that the CGI was fine. Nothing looked off to me in a way that would pull me out of the movie. The Flash looked a lot worse and I think that movie had a higher budget.
Optimus wanting to get home and his conflict is compelling to me. Like he doesn’t have a reason to like or trust humans. He’s been stranded on this shithole of a planet with no contact with his army or friends or home for seven years I understand why he hates it. He also has another reason to really get the hell out but spoilers. But also he comes to a general understanding with the humans and learns that they are sort of worth working with. He just wants to get home and help his friend get better and save his own world and brutally murder his enemy. He’s still very brutal but it feels different to Bayverse. That’s probably because I don’t like Michael Bay or his transformers films but you chose to read to this point so you get to deal with my weird biases.
*minor spoilers sort of*
The part where Unicron tells OP not to destroy the key and that he give him anything and OP says “then die” got me way too hyped up. Like wow. Murder dad robot is SO cool!
I love Arcee fighting with Wheeljack and standing on Rhinox, idk if it was a call back and or reference to that one beats wars scene but I love it either way

Module 1: A Not Ruin(ed) Trip
☆.。.:*
Once again, a long ride back to NOHS after a long day of filming a movie trailer for Araling Panlipunan at the Ruins. We reached our homes, with our groupmates already starting to plan the editing process of our trailer while the three of us reflected on what we had just experienced during the filming day.
It was such a tiring, productive, and memorable day; these kinds of days rarely happen, and we're thankful that it did. It's amazing how a busy day becomes so memorable, be it for the better or worse. Days like these, where we pour all our time into them, develop us as a whole, and in the end, we always learn something new.
To sum up everything, we learned that having well-planned events doesn't always guarantee they will go smoothly, just like how a treasure map marks the spot, but it doesn't always mean the treasure is at the center of the spot.
PS:
From Nejie: I also learned that going to places I wouldn't usually go isn't that bad of an experience; in fact, I actually enjoyed it.
From Iris: I definitely enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions I experienced during the filming. I wouldn't say that I enjoyed it during the filming, but I can surely see the fun I had after everything. I ran around crazily, chasing all of my group members, trying to slap makeup on their faces. I mimicked blood and bruises, as well as royal makeup. I must say that I feel proud about my performance, as it was my first time putting my questionable makeup skills to use. I definitely learned that one should be confident in using a skill they have learned, even if they are not an expert.
From Sophie: There's a lot of emotion to feel; at first, I was literally excited, but that quickly faded when the rain started pouring down. I also get nervous while acting and saying my lines because I can't help but worry that I'll make a lot of mistakes. Tiredness also got in the way. When I got home from the shoot, I felt so exhausted that I couldn't move. Finally, the feeling or emotion that really stood out for me was happiness. Not only did I get to spend time with my classmates, but we also got to work together as a team, and I could tell that we worked well together.

Module 2: Strong Monsoon Winds
☆.。.:*
The winds gush through and follows the bird's calls. Such as this week that went by a breeze, we can't say for sure that it was a good ride though. Especially when we got stunned by the Research summative test, but oh well, it's more room for improvement. Aside from Research, we learned about cell division in Biology which is mitosis and meosis. In Biotechnology, we learned about the effects of genetic mutation and the syndromes that comes with it.
As for Math, it was properties of parallel lines cut by a transversal, conditions for parallel lines, and the possible measures of the third side. While in English nothing happened because our teacher was busy for an assesment. On the other hand, in MAPEH we learned about East Asian arts. And lastly, ESP, wherein we learned about being honest. That basically makes up our week this time, not too extreme, not too underwhelming either. Just like a warm nissin cup noodles during a frigid day, everything must be balanced, as it should be.
PS:
From Nejie: Rushed na kami tenk you.
