There something i don't understand:

When Touya "dies" when he is twelve, AFO's people find him and bring him to the hospital.

But.. how did they find him?? Even Endeavor got to the mountain too late.

Yeah, I was heavily anti-Endeavor 1.5-2 years ago. I don't LIKE him now, I think he's a coward and is pathetic (and not in a fun way), but just as you said, I'm excited to finally see him do the right thing.

A Coward Called Endeavor

I'm wary of wading into the discourse because I'm seeing the unhinged bs my friends are getting, but from my viewpoint I think people miss something important about Dabi-Enji-Shouto and Enji's role in saving Touya -

Enji only tried to be an actual father for one of them and it wasn't Shouto.

No, I know that sounds crazy but we had a toddler whose immediate reaction to seeing his father was being upset and alert that the father would bully his mother. Shouto has never seen Enji the Father, he's only seen a monster named Endeavor.

That's important. Natsuo, heck, Fuyumi to some extent since she was really Rei's girl, none of them had this:

We only see this smirk head on in the manga, but I think this anime shot put it into perspective for me what I'd been mulling over for years, too uncomfortable with the simple truth of what's going on here:

The only Todoroki child who had Enji as a father was Touya.

For a brief few years, Touya was the apple of his eye. And, no, he wasn't replaced with Shouto, not in Enji's eyes. Because Enji uses the word livestock for Shouto. Because Enji was an aggressor from the beginning with Shouto. There was never a moment where this simple sort of moment, a little boy looking up into his father's prideful face as he copied his movements, happened between any of Enji's children besides Touya.

That's why Dabi's like this. It's harder for him to forget Endeavor when he isn't Shouto; he was never "an extension" of Endeavor's drive, but for a short period, he was treated as his actual son before he was thrown away.

So - what does this even mean? Why is it important that the only one with an actual "father" until Endeavor got some sense knocked into him via seeing the Pillar of Peace crumble is Touya?

Because it means Todoroki Enji is a fucking coward, that's what.

We know he's ran away from facing his failures time and time again, but never is more indicative of his cowardice when he got too scared to be a father and decided he wouldn't be. You see, that's why the other three didn't have him as a father - he doesn't know what being a father is. It's likely his own father died on the job, and so the associations of fatherhood in Enji's mind are just... being a hero. Being good at your job, so your kids can be proud of you. The actual parenting, the supporting your child, all that was too much for him.

This is Enji giving up, tail between his legs. He doesn't know how to be anything but "Endeavor", so he's not even going to try.

I really feel like people missed Rei calling him out here. He's running away from his duties and responsibilities to be a father. He fucked up with Touya and doesn't know how to fix it, so he runs off, and ignores all his other kids, and then just trains Shouto like a tool and an extension of himself. He lost his mind and saw his youngest as a simple extension of himself, like a hand or a leg. But when he looked at Touya, once, he saw a person.

A person he failed so many times. Failed to father, then failed to save.

I have a lot more to say about this on Dabi's point of view that also discusses the nuances Western readers aren't getting (like the ie system and his place in it), but when people say that they don't think Endeavor needs to do anything in this Dabi-saving discourse, I think they're forgetting that time and time again we've been shown that Todoroki Enji is a coward and if Horikoshi is serious about any resolution to this man and his "redeeming", it's about time he finally stops being one and faces his fucking son.

All of this has been leading up to him realizing it's nothing but himself that has caused this. That his own cowardice and hatred of himself has torn apart his family. That it's not about him as a hero.

These are the words of a man ready to finally start start being a dad, guys. Took him a quarter of a century.

A caveat: many of us have issues on the Doylist aspect of all this. I've said a few times that most of you are less upset about how Endeavor is being redeemed but the fact he's being redeemed at all, and I get it! The question is always about whether we need more narratives in media of abusers getting redemption, of victimized children reconciling with their parents. I agree fully that those of us who choose to not reconcile, who are unable due to the parents' beliefs or decisions anyway, are underrepresented in media. I know we want to see people like Dabi move on, stop hoping for a man who never knew how to show love for him to love him and apologize. Most of us, in real life, just give up and find love and healing outside of our parents. In many ways, it's healthier to go minimal or low contact with parents like Enji.

But I think that's not the story Horikoshi wants to write. He's writing what is essentially a trauma vent-work and wish fufillment all in one. In his fantastical world, families like the Todoroki one can reconcile, abusers can apologize and strive to make amends. It might be because he wishes this was the case more so than the reality that abuse victims know. He's made missteps with the Todoroki narrative yes, but I don't think what amounts to wish fulfillment on Horikoshi's part is bad-writing just because it's wish fufillment. It's just a very "happy-ending" solution to issues that in real life aren't going to usually see them and I think a lot of us are sick of them.

So, just keep that in mind when people say Dabi needs Endeavor involved. Enji created this problem, he has to fix it, not Shouto. You can't have a Touya at peace with his family if Endeavor gets to shirk his responsibility and keep being a coward.

Chapter 355

I can’t believe Jirou and Tokoyami are about to fight god

I love Tokoyami and Hawks’s relationship so, so much. there’s just so much trust between the two of them. like on the surface it might seem like Hawks keeps underestimating Tokoyami every step of the way. but in reality it’s more that Hawks, being a former child soldier himself, is extremely reluctant to subject someone else to that, regardless of whether the circumstances are the same, and regardless of how capable Tokoyami keeps proving himself to be. yet another example of Hawks being continuously forced to walk a razor-thin line between decisions that he can live with, and decisions that will actually keep him alive. Tokoyami is a phenomenally powerful fighter, and his presence here absolutely helps tip the scales in their favor. but it’s also an insanely dangerous place for him to be, and so of course Hawks doesn’t want him here

meanwhile on Tokoyami’s end, he started out simply wanting to prove himself to Hawks, but once Hawks opened up to him, his exasperation almost immediately gave way to admiration and respect. and then he almost lost him at Jakku, and I think that really did a number on him, and so he’s so attached to and protective of him now. and I think that in turn has caused Hawks to try and keep his distance a little more, both because he has no idea how to deal with that emotionally, and because he doesn’t want Toko getting hurt. it’s such a delightfully complex relationship and I want to hold it and protect it with everything I have

• Touya todoroki is an interesting one. I think I've always liked his character but it didn't really start to intrigue me until late season 5( cs i haven't read the manga, yet).

• So just like all of the villains in the series he didn't wake up one day and choose mass murder. It was a process, chip by chip, little punches here (metaphorically) a couple kicks there until he starts to crack. The whole idea of being the n.o1 hero, being the best was instilled in him by his father. Parents play a huge huge role on the opinions and morals that kids develop. Then when he can't seem to reach that standard, the one to please his old man, it frustrates him, but he was like what 10?. He didn't give up, he was determined, he didn't care if he hurt himself in the process, once he achieved his goal it would be worth it ( which I'll talk about again).

• So when his father insist that he should stop, he should give up, it's just, so odd, to hear a parent telling their child to give up. Knowing Enji this wasn't just for his child's safety, it was probably also for his image, and because he saw it as a waste of time to train his soilder if he couldn't fight on the battle field. Touya knew this too.

• I've seen on many apps, or maybe even edits saying that if endeavor just went to see his son on seketo ( is that it? ) peak that day, it wouldn't have happened and he'd be 'normal', or somewhere close to. I beg to differ, it would have happened anyways, his sheer will to just outshine whoever his dear, precious father wanted outweighed his concern for his own well being. Especially with shoto being born and the new focus of attention. It was just a matter of time, fate, even.

• I remember TikTok in covid time💀, i was on of those people who had a hugee crush on dabi and tomura (mostly dabi), and i remember i used to say things like "I could fix him" "he's just misunderstood" "he secretly loves the league but just can't show it" no pookie bear that is definitely not the case😭. Fanon dabi is.....cool, but if i actually tried to interact with him he'd just, i don't kill me? I don't think he cares about anyone.

• Definitely not his siblings, he hates them too. He has an almost patronizing look on the women in his family, not doing anything to help or protect him ( not that he wanted it). He hated his little brother, shoto, for stealing his life, the life that he wanted. He hates his father for igniting a spark in him, then abandoning it, causing it to burn him up. He hates natsu, for not understanding and just accepting that they were both failures. His relationship with natsu, based on the little snips that we got give me very bittersweet, angsty vibes that i do want to look into. I digress. But no, Touya cares about no one, not even the league, they're just another tool to get him closer to his goal.

• He doesn't care about himself either as i mentioned earlier. Remember that spark i talked about?, it didn't burn him up completely, left a nasty big scar though. It's still burning, it's just fueled by something else now, a desire, a need to torture and kill Enji Todoroki. He isn't afraid of death, he was at it's doorstep and age 13, he's tasted it. He only puts in effort to preserve his life because his goal isn't complete. If he dies during or after, once he gets what he wants, and sees the look on their faces, he couldn't give a shit about what happens to him.

• Touya is not emotionally constipated. He's fucked up yeah but i believe that he's learnt how to feel his feelings, which are mostly anger, disgust and hatred. He appears nonchalant cause he channels those emotions into his revenge plan.

• I'd like to say he's a typical case of a psychopath, psychologically speaking. It's just that he has a motive to kill, most psychopaths do not (realize i said most) they just kill for the thrill. But other than that he checks off all the boxes. He's killed on multiple occasions, having very very little or non existent remorse for his actions, not very socially inclined, and if you think about it, is kinda selfish.

• Do not believe for one second that touya would see and remember the things he went through and be like "no, I'm above that". You're wrong, he would gladly mirror the behavior that he grew up around if it suited him. Top tier gaslighter and manipulater energy from this man.

• I'm not trying to demonize him, it's not his fault he doesn't care about anyone. It's just that he's never felt it, he doesn't actually know what it is, so he can't give it, you can't give something that you don't have. Some may argue that he had his siblings and rei, not saying they didn't love him but he didn't feel it, or want it, he wanted his father's love which he didn't receive in the slightest.

Ooh, we’re talking about the Todorokis?

They deserved to go off on Enji in the hospital room, Endeavor needed to be yelled at and face actual consequences for his crimes.

I wish everyone just had some semblance of disgust and shame towards him, he mentally fucked with EVERYONE in that family.

It would’ve been refreshing to see society’s reaction to the fact that their hero, the one who was supposed to protect them, was actually a monster.

I also felt like Enji only really changed, only cause he got what he wanted. His children should’ve asked him flat out “We weren’t worth changing for? Your wife, the person you’re supposed to love and protect most in the world, wasn’t worth changing for? Touya’s death wasn’t a wake up call?”

Ok for the whole Enji fires his pr team. What was the event that caused Enji to fire them? I'm looking back at the tags and I'm just tad confused. I understand Midnight and Snipe had something to do with it, but otherwise I'm lost.

So it's.

Honestly the PR Team thing ended up as the tag but I mostly just tag the Enji/Midnight/Snipe shenanigans with that as a whole because I don't need yet another todoroki shenanigans tag

BUT

The stuff with Midnight and Snipe is because Enji realizes he needs someone to help him get his shit together, but has very few options. So he goes to a sort-of coworker that he knows will call him on his shit(and has no issue dunking on him)

It turns into a really weird ass friendship that is the main point of the tag, but the PR team thing is a side plot to it.

It kicks off because the PR Team kinda. Takes it upon themselves to post something on the official Endeavor Twitter Account, basically speaking for him on an issue. Enji really only notices this because he's out with Midnight and Snipe at the time, and they see the tweet is trending(aka: getting dunked on) and since Enji is 1.) right there and clearly hasn't posted on twitter in the last hour and 2.) they know his stance on lgbt stuff so a subtle homophobic 'traditional family values' tweet is out of character.

Enji is.... a little mad at this. Because while he's given the PR team a lot of free reign, he doesn't like them speaking /for/ him like this. Putting out a 'this is what the PR team says' statement? Fine. Low-key impersonating him? Not good.

This causes him to look more into what his PR team has been doing which does include various adjustments to his image. Weather it be things like this, things like sorting through which charity events Enji is invited to and directing him toward the 'acceptable' ones for public events, and a million little other subtle things.

This eventually leads to uncovering the Big Issue: that at some point after Toya 'died', Natsuo tried to do something about the family situation by reporting the abuse/trying to go to the media and spill the tea about the hot mess. And the PR team did their job at protecting Endeavor's reputation by making sure the kid knew to shut the fuck up.

So yeah while the original issues could've been solved with some re-training, better communication, and Enji keeping an eye on how much the PR team are doing to his image.....

This quickly turns into a 'throw the whole group out' situation.

SHOTO TODOROKI RISING HELL YEAH!!

A moment for poor Iida, who delivered a hero to a crying child, but hit his limits along the way. The class prez is a great kid, and very worthy of the Ingenium name.

Shoto uses Phosphor to power his movement, then Great Glacial Aegir to stop Toya’s explosion. Everyone lives because Shoto was able to combine his ice on top of the blasts provided by Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo.

This leads Shoto to say in front of his whole family that he’s not the masterpiece, as it took ALL of them (except you Enji) to counter Toya’s extreme heat.

Shoto’s letters to his mother are so pure and honest. It highlights how Shoto was able to deliver ANOTHER incredible ice move by getting emotional for the sake of his whole family, including Toya.

Toya is ALIVE. Perhaps barely, but he’s survived being burned before. Is he grateful? NOPE. His first words are basically telling Enji to fuck off and die. Then he says everyone should die including himself. Toya is alive but not saved yet.

Enji finally does his best to apologize to the whole family for being a monster and dragging them to hell. He gives individual apologies to each family member in full earshot of the others. He can’t say much to Shoto before passing out, but he gets in an “I’m sorry.” It’s just words, not action, but it’s a start.

Quick switch to Toga, whose eyes are huge and teary. She thinks Toya died, and hopes that at least he died smiling. Unlike the last war, where Toga went into a murderous rage when Twice died, she seems solemn and resigned. She’s still thinking it’s too late for her, all hope for a normal teenage life is gone, and all she can do is fight until her inevitable death.

The final panels are brutal. Enji is lying with Toya, the other family members are huddled together, and Shoto is alone in the middle, frozen.

"I told you not to fucking come here," Dabi growls down at Hawks who he has pinned to the wall. 

He and the entire League had told Hawks not to come in this week. Dabi had told them to give the birdbrain a reason, but either they didn't or he was just an idiot. Either way, Dabi was on the cusp of a rut and the last thing he needed right now was a potential mate showing up in his den like he owned the place. 

Hawks looks like he has been drugged with how fast his pupils pin and his eyes haze over at the overpowering scent of rutting alpha, but, for once, Dabi is thankful for that Commission training that lets Hawks snap out of it fairly fast. 

"Sooo, not a chicken soup kind of not feeling well?" Hawks clarifies, eyes at least clear now even if his ears are pink.

"No, it's fucking not." Dabi snaps, forcing himself to step back enough for Hawks to flee. "Now get out…and leave the soup." 

Hawks raises an unimpressed eyebrow at his tone but reminds himself that the alpha is currently going through it. "The others really need to make better excuses. And why couldn't you just tell me?" 

Dabi huffs, stomping over to his bed so he doesn't have to be so close to the omega's scent. "Shiggy dusted my phone and I haven't exactly had a chance to steal a new one." 

"What?" Hawks asks in confusion. "Why the hell would he do that?" 

Dabi mumbles something petulantly, but unfortunately for him, hawks have great hearing and the hero is no exception. 

"For future reference, I can still hear you. Bird hearing and all that. Also, I would've said yes." Hawks sighs, running a gloved hand over his face. "Dabi, what have we said about talking about shit?" 

Dabi just growls at him, barring long claiming fangs that make Hawks' omega purr. He stops this fairly quickly with a wince, however, looking at the other apologetically. He'd die before he actually apologized, but he hated doing anything Endeavor would have done to them.

"...You said 'would've'. That still apply to now?" He eventually huffs, still refusing to look in Hawks' direction but mostly not wanting to breathe that way.

Hawks' face flushes and he's glad the alpha is looking away so he won't be teased. "I mean, Rumi and a few other pros owe me some days? How long is your rut normally?" 

"No clue. Haven't properly had one since I presented. The old man didn't want anyone challenging him so put me on suppressant and I was too fucked for a while after I 'died' so my body just didn't. The last time one tried to start, I got some suppressants illegally. League found out though and won't let Giran bring more until my shit balances out." Dabi shrugs, eyebrows furrowing in thought. "Going off the first one, like four days? Who knows now though."

Hawks is staring at him in horror and once again having to remind himself that he can't castrate his formal idol…yet. "You did what ?! Dabi, you're 24 fucking years old?! You haven't had a rut in 7 or 8 years?! Let me call Rumi, you’re not getting rid of me now!” 

Dabi just rolls his eyes. “Every last one of you making a big deal out of nothing.”

Hawks just glares at him over his phone as it rings. “Let’s see if you’re saying that in an hour or- Hey! Rumi! So you remember how I covered those three shifts for you when you’re omega had a sudden heat? Mind if I cash in?”

{Finally taking a goddamn break, birdbrain, or did you let another heat sneak up on your dumbass?} Rumi laughs from the other end of the line as the wind crackles through the speaker.

Hawks rolls his eyes. “That’s not until February…or was it January?”

{Hawks, I swear to gods! Yes, I’ll cover your shifts. How many days you need?”

Hawks turns to the window as Dabi glares at him, mouthing ‘hypocrite’. “A week? Maybe more?”

{You taking a whole week off? Everything okay?}

Hawks huffs, looking back over his shoulder to mouth. ‘You’re lucky you’re hot.’ 

“Yeah, everything’s fine just…” Hawks trails off, looking to Dabi for what to say.

“Tell her. I don’t give a shit. Maybe she’ll know more about this.” Dabi signs, thankful that was a thing the Commission made Hawks learn. The thought left a bad taste in his mouth. Being grateful to the Commission twice in one day was not something he wanted to make a habit of.

“Okay, yeah I can tell you. I’m helping myyyy- an Alpha that I know.” Hawks groans at the teasing this gets him through the phone. “Yeah, yeah, it’s great. Anyway. Dumbass has been on suppressants for 7 or 8 years and hasn’t had a rut since he presented. Any advice I guess?”

{HE WHAT ?} Rumi yells through the phone. {Fuck a week, Hawks! I know a few others owe you favors, call them, too. You’ll probably need the whole next week to recover if you even survive! Your chances are probably better trying to get dick from a wild bear, the fuck is wrong with you two?!}

Hawk blinks, flushing a dark red. “I-It can’t be that ba-Da-Babe? You okay?”

Hawks takes in Dabi’s appearance as the rut finally starts setting in. He’s helped suppressed omegas before, that being far more common, but this is so much different. He can’t even remember if he learned anything on this in training before as he watches his fangs get somehow bigger, claws rip the sheets, his chest heaving in heavy breathes, and there was almost none of that beautiful turquoise left behind the black of his pupils. The worst? best? hardest part was how fast the scent of charred smores, snowstorms, and something unmistakable wild and dangerous but unbelievably alluring all at once fills the room. It conjured visions of being stuck in the house on a snow day, the weather too bad to even enjoy it. It’s scary, deadly even, but in front of a fireplace with the smores you burned on it, you feel safe and protected. It’s the only fiery scent Hawks has ever smelled that causes that feeling and is probably all that truly remains of the big brother Touya, but makes him understand just why the League loves him so much. Then there’s that extra note. It’s almost like a different fire scent, but not? Hawks has yet to put a name to it, but right now it’s taking over his senses, and not even the Commission’s training is going to save him from this as he whines.

{Fuck! Hawks! Names!} Rumi yells, knowing what that sound means.

“Huh? Um, Edgeshot Number 1, Backdraft, Mt. Lady, Kamui. That should be enough right?” Hawks drawls, pupils back to pinpricks and just wanting to go to his alpha.

{Number 1? Why wouldn’t you-Oh my gods, you’re fucking the villain!} 

“Trying to. Thanks, Rumi.” Hawks chuckles.

There are a few curse words on the other side of the line then a sigh. {I’ll come up with something that won’t attract media attention. Stay safe.}

“We will~ Wait!” Hawks pulls himself out of it a little when he smells a sour note to Dabi’s scent. “Tips on the rut thing?” 

{Send some feathers to my house, and I’ll get you guys some stuff. An uncle tried doing that shit to one of my cousins and I heard her first rut after was ugly. You two are the only reason I’m helping him.}

“Thank you, Rumi. Seriously.” He grins, moving the phone away to hang up. “See ya later.”

There’s silence on the other end for a moment before Rumi laughs. {One of Japan’s most wanted thanking me. Yeah, no problem. Just know that if you hurt him beyond normal rut shit, Tartarus will be the least of your worries!}

Dabi manages a low laugh of his own, a feral grin on his face. “Don’t worry, hops. I’ll take good care of the baby bird.” He growls, dragging another whine from Hawks.

{Mmm. Gross. Hawks send the feathers while you can still think. Bye!}

With that, she hangs up and red feathers fly out the window as Hawks flies across the room to collide with Dabi and bury his face in the damaged scent gland at his neck. “Dabiii~” He moans, licking futilely at the scent.

Dabi growls, flipping their positions so he’s on top, barring his fangs in Hawks’ face. “No caging me in. Especially right now. Wings should be fine.”

Hawks whimpers, mumbling an apology. “Your scent.”

“Yeah, the working ones are practically dripping.” Dabi snickers, leaning in close. “If you behave, I’ll let you lick it up.”

Hawks makes some chittering sound that’s usually good. “Gods, please~ You smell so good. Fuck so fucking good. It was so hard to finish that call.”

“I haven’t been able to see your pupils since my claws grew.” Dabi chuckles, trailing one down Hawks’ flight suit. “How many have we gone through this month?” 

“Don’t know, and definitely do not care. If you don’t do it, I will.” Hawks growls, pulling at Dabi’s shirt already. “Why were you even wearing this if you were about to be jerking it for the next week?”

“Scent messed you up fast, huh?” Dabi hums, sitting up to remove his shirt and help Hawks out of his. “Same reason we asked you to hide Toga at yours. It’s 7 years of pent-up rut. For all we know, it’s going to be painful and they were going to help if my pride eventually snapped and I couldn’t take it anymore. They’ll still be in and out to scent mark stuff whenever it’s quiet though.”

Hawks blinks, tilting his head. “Aren’t Shigaraki, Spinner, and some college kid mated? That leaves only Compress.”

“Yup and they're secure enough in their relationship to let me borrow Shiggy if it got too bad,” Dabi explains before letting out when a strange mix between a growl and groan rips itself from his throat. “Fuck, Hawks~ Seriously the last chance to back out. I don’t even know what my alpha has planned, he’s just going wild.” 

Hawks lets out his own little growl, pulling Dabi in for a messy kiss and running his tongue along the claiming fangs now protruding from scarred lips. “I have my safe words. Make me need that second week. Fucking ruin me, Alpha.”

Dabi’s pupils somehow manage to expand more as he growls, diving in for another rough kiss before he’s flipping Hawks over so he can get at him without crushing his wings. “You needed that second week anyway, birdbrain, but I’ll guarantee it.” He promises in Hawks ear where he’s leaned himself between the giant red wings to start trailing his tongue and teeth down the omega’s back, making sure to pay plenty of attention to the baby feathers at the base and watching how fast the hero melts. “I don’t know what this will do with my quirk though, so you might want to send most of these out of the room.”

Hawks whines, sending all but the baby feathers and a few at the base out. They were still a major sensitive spot so he obviously had to keep a few and cried out when Dabi wrapped one around his tongue. “Alpha!”

If there was one thing that could get an alpha to bend to their omega’s will, it was calling them alpha, and it seemed Dabi was no different as he growls and continue down until he’s met with Hawks’ already slick-soaked hole. “So wet already, baby bird. I’ve barely even done anything.”

“Believe me I know so how about we fix that!” Hawks snips, yelping when this earns him a bite to his ass cheek. Thank gods claiming only worked on mating glands. 

“Quiet.” Dabi snarls, sounding even less in control than before.

There’s another scent spike and Hawks feel drunk on it as he whines. If the alpha’s scent grows any stronger, Hawks is probably going to be thrown into heat himself. “Please~”

A rumble starts somewhere in Dabi’s chest and Hawks feels him startle at the sound before a quiet curse and long fingers find their way to his hole, claws thankfully retracted. 

"Fuck, you're fucking soaked." Dabi groans as he's easily able to slide two fingers into the base and draw a chirping whine out of Hawks. "I've barely even touched you, baby bird."

"Scent." Hawks moans, wiggling his hips to try and help Dabi find his spot faster. "Cool, safe, strong. Fuck such a strong alpha." There's another gush of slick around long fingers that causes a squelching noise. "Fuck, seriously, reel it back or neither of us will be able to think straight." 

Dabi raises an eyebrow before smirking wickedly. "What's wrong, baby bird? Gonna fall into heat?" 

He slips another finger in and Hawks whines. "If you keep smelling like that and that strongly, probably." 

Dabi snickers, leaning in close. "Well, you know something that sucks about being on suppressants so long?" He bites the other ass cheek. "That's not something I ever learned to do so at least you'll be able to keep up." 

Hawks' eyes widen, briefly wondering just how much the alpha's scent patches would even cost if not stolen. "You've gotta be kidding mE-Fuck!" 

Hawks' complaints are cut off by a pierced tongue being added to the two fingers already working him open. He hears the alpha chuckle behind him before he's whining when the villain sucks at his rim to draw out more slick. 

Dabi drinks in his birdie's taste and slick and can smell the smaller man's scent increasing with his own. It isn't long before he's honestly growling against the hero's now sloppy hole, trying to get every drop of slick can get. Fuck, it was almost intoxicating, the flavor of pine and something wild that makes the hairs on the back of your neck raise as though being stalked by a predator with just a hint of a somewhat salty-sweet flavor. It expands on Dabi's already cozy but dangerous scent to add salted caramel candy and zooms out on the house to reveal a cabin in the woods with wild animals scavenging through the blizzard. Dabi almost wonders if he could get drunk on it.

Hawks, meanwhile, has officially lost all reason as he feels his heat start creeping up on him. Between the alpha's ministrations and overpowering scent telling his omega 'Shhh, it's okay. You're safe. I'll hurt you so good', he honestly stood no chance and he let out a stream of moans, whimpers, and various bird noises that he knew only spurred Dabi on further. 

"Fuck, baby bird." Dabi slurs when he eventually comes up for air. "You are sitting on my face at some point during this shit, but right now, I'm going to fuck you through this shitty mattress." 

Hawks moans at the promise, lifting his ass a bit to better present and he looks over his shoulder with gold eyes all but devoid of pupils at this point. "Please, alpha. Dabi, please. Fuck me, please!" He whines, talons already ripping at the sheets just from the villain's tongue. 

Dabi snarls, slick shining on his chin and across his staples as he wrestles his pants off. 

There's a ripping noise and some distant part of Hawks sighs at the knowledge he'll have to go shopping again, but right now, neither really cares as Dabi groans at the release of pressure on his aching cock before a shocked gasp is heard. 

"Um, pretty bird?" Dabi prods, sounding slightly more lucid and definitely unsure. "It's bigger."

Hawks furrows his brow, having to force his brain to even attempt to catch up to what the alpha might be saying. "What?" 

Hawks forces himself up on shaky arms to see what has Dabi concerned enough to not be fucking him only to release a surprised chirp. "What the fuck?"

"I don't know?! Build up or some shit? My alpha being angry? Fuck if I know!" Dabi growls, frustrated and freaked out. 

Hawks just blinks, staring at the already normally big cock that has somehow grown bigger, and, honestly, it might just be the size of the alpha's knot normally. He hesitates for only a second before he lets his head fall forward in a moan and is back in a presenting position. "Please, Alpha."

Dabi's eyes widen, but his panic had honestly already subsided, his alpha far too eager to get ahold of the willing mate. "You'll definitely need stretched more." He growls out, rut-brain definitely winning right now.

"Noooo~, I can take it dammIT! Ahh~!" Hawks whines as the villain's tongue once again finds his entrance, this time accompanied by three fingers that Hawks is sure will be the death of him. 

Dabi groans into the hole clenching around his tongue, working diligently to get the hero as wet as possible, and enjoying the pleasant fuzz that seems to cloud his brain at the taste. Fuck, he really was gone for the bird, wasn't he?

It's not until he hears something that's a mix between a moan and a caw and a heavy gush of slick coats his tongue that he realizes he made Hawks cum, and a new rumble starts deep in his chest.

Dabi chuffs a little, blinking in surprise at the sound, but ultimately shrugging it off to check on his birdie. "You good, baby bird?"

“According to Spinner, that’s pretty normal. Shigaraki can barely poke his head out the door before being pulled back inside when Spinner’s in rut so I’m guessing Rumi just assumed.” Dabi shrugs, carefully tending to the tender flesh.

Hawks hums in consideration before his eyes widen as he realizes Dabi can never find out who Rumi’s mate is. “Yeah, uh, sounds reasonable.”

Dabi looks at him funny for the weirdness in his reply but doesn’t question him on it as he struggles to turn and pull him so Dabi is leaning against the wall with Hawks’ back against his chest so he can get the other hip. “Fly the soup over here. I should be able to get my quirk to behave enough to warm it up so we can eat before it starts back up. The others will probably check in after a few more rounds.”

Hawks nods, sending feathers over to bring the abandoned soup to them. “Hopefully they won’t be too annoyed I misunderstood.”

Dabi shrugs, heating up the soup once he’s done with Hawks’ other hip and taking a spoon offered by a feather. “They should’ve gone with something else.” He hums, checking the temp before offering some to Hawks. “Eat.”

Hawks blinks, glancing down at his swollen stomach. “Um, I’m pretty sure you lost a lot more fluids than me, hot stuff.”

“Probably, but instincts are screaming at me to baby you so eat.” Dabi deadpans, inching the spoon closer.

Hawks can’t help but smile, rolling his eyes as he does as requested before taking the other spoon from another feather. “Fine, you turn then.”

They continue like this for a while until the soup is gone, pausing only so Dabi can finally pull out, before going through the bags from Rumi. They find some other high-energy and calorie food and drink that they get into a bit before suddenly Hawks gasps and makes a happy little chirp. 

“She sent nesting stuff!” He chirps, dragging it onto the feather-stripped bed to start arranging it. 

“She probably figured I was going to send you into heat.” Dabi pants, feeling another wave starting back up. “Want help or should I just try to control myself from jumping you in the corner?”

Hawks smiles, pulling Dabi over for a kiss. “You’re cute like this you know?” 

Dabi scowls, huffing and going to flop himself in his desk chair. “Nevermind. Fuck you.”

“Let me finish the nest first.” Hawks giggles in response and catches the plushie thrown at him. “Thanks, that will be perfect here.”

“I want a divorce.”

“Finish mating me first.” 

“Gladly.” Dabi grins, stalking back over to throw Hawks into the half-made nest and earning a yelp. 

It would get finished eventually.

“Finally!” Shigaraki groans, flopping himself back in Spinner’s lap dramatically. “Now they can stop eyefucking each other across the living room and we won’t have to deal with their pining bullshit.” A purr starts up as Spinner starts lightly scratching his scalp with his claws.

Shigaraki groans, turning on his side to whine into Spinner’s stomach. “Dammit! New plan, I dust them.”

Spinner and Compress look at each other in amusement before Spinner speaks up now. 

“You have at least ten plushies and five blankets ready for Hawks to make a nest here including a weighted one and would be way too bored without Dabi to challenge. Shigaraki shivers, face twisting in dread. “Between you two, I wouldn’t be able to walk for a month. Thank gods, Hawks took the bait.”

and listen i get it i understand a hefty sizable chunk (honestly, the vast majority) of the fandom wants endeavor dead, rendered useless, written off, etc, for his actions and thats fair and completely valid bc like. its a fictional dude. actions were reprehensible, you may have those opinions.

but... i just... the potential for those kids to finally heal and move forward. and begin a life for themselves free of the shackles that their family's fucked up dynamics created... so much of that can come from seeing what brought you pain and misery and choosing to move forward, anyway. i'm not saying you need to forgive your abuser or anything of that nature. absolutely not. but i can tell you. if... my mother, who spent so much of my childhood and adolescence telling me how useless i was, how i can't do anything right, won't achieve anything with my life, and fostered these severely debilitating neurodivergencies that i know have to be in full-time therapy for the forseeable future with no real "cure" for it (woohoo lets go bpd!) .... so much as apologized to me even once. for the things that i went through. i think i could heal so much of my inner. i wouldn't be fixed compeltely. hell, i will still need to do my dbt worksheets and my grounding techniques. but at least i won't have to spend the rest of my life dealing with a "would she ever say sorry? would she ever recognize what she did to me?"

and the thing is, at least for shoto, fuyumi, even natsuo to some extent.... they are choosing to be there, choosing to listen to the man that made their life a living hell in his apologies. enji didn't force any of his kids to listen to his apologies. much less accept them. and that's said time and time again. shown multiple times, too. the way those kids choose to step up and move forward is completely of their own volition--and whether YOU, the viewer, an outsider's perspective, decide hes worthy of "redemption" (which!! he explicitly said he didn't want! he specifically said he wants to atone for his actions!! not be seen as a completely different person, but the same man who recognizes his evils and is actively making the choice to see where he can make things better, even by a small fraction if he can!!) doesn't change the fact that there are people out there who would give up their pinky toe to have a parent that hurt them so badly acknowledge their actions and apologize for them.

not because it makes them a btter person all of a sudden. but because it gives the people affected by them the chance to find closure and move forward to grow into something new and transformed.

and THAT is why endeavor's survival, ESPECIALLY after the climax of the todorokis vs dabi, would be important to the narrative as well as the overall growth of the todoroki family. dabi felt what it was like, for the first time, to be seen. he's a boy that never got to grow or learn how to handle his very big emotions. he was a victim in all things. whether that was with endeavor or with afo. but the potential for him to see what could be, see where things can, maybe, just maybe, one day become what the little touya that died at sekoto peak always wanted is too good for me to ignore.

so off the bat, this playlist is much more somber and angsty than you might expect of dabi and that's bc i already have a playlist specifically for his identity as dabi, and that leans way more into songs that have his VIBES and/or i feel like he'd listen to. this one however is just pure devastation bc alas he is fucked in the head.

the view between villages - this song is obvs 'being in your home and feeling it all coming back at once' and for noah kahan that's specifically the drive 'between villages' but for touya this song really makes me think of sekoto peak and just the todoroki residence as a whole. it's this beautiful lush forested area and it's where touya todoroki dies. he asks for his dad to come and see a technique that he's learned, something that's finally his, something shouto can't do, and enji isn't there and it kills touya. his quirk malfunctions and he burns himself alive and takes this beautiful landscape with him and enji isn't there. a minute from home but i feel so far from it. the death of my dog the stretch of my skin it's all washing over me im angry again. the things that i lost here the people i knew! they got me surrounded for a mile or two! losing my mind!

strangers - what started it all. he is yet another 'i tried to be good am i no good?' character and im not okay about it at all in the slightest. please, i just wanted to be good enough. i tried to be good and it set me alight. i just wanted to be yours. and then touya dies and they FORGET ABOUT HIM there's no public backlash there's no inquiry there's hardly even a funeral shouto doesn't remember him natsuo and fuyumi are hardly allowed to mention him the world consciously actively and purposely buries touya todoroki his memory restricted to a polaroid in evidence and then he returns. he returns ugly and scarred and barely held together. am i making you feel sick. and through it all, his mother is in a mental hospital, watching him on the news, crying and waiting up for him. dont think about it too hard or you'll never sleep a wink at night again.

ptolemaea - this song captures 'the breaking point' perfectly and that's just very touya especially for sekoto peak. promising a fire any fire im on fire im on fire im on fire what have you done stop stop make it stop ive had enough stop stop stop stop STOP I AM THE FACE OF LOVE'S RAGE. and so dabi was born in fire and anguish and agony. also if u take the doctor and all for one angle with this song about how they wanted touya as a second shigaraki and they took him from sekoto peak then the whole 'you poor thing you sweet mourning lamb there's nothing you can do it's already been done' is v much giving that angle of them taking advantage. blessed be the children each and every one come to know their god through some senseless act of violence.

be an astronaut - i talked about this song the other day bc the lyrics are kinda inexplicable but it fucking GUTS me and i could not tell you why. like the desperation of the vocals is just ughhhh give me a song that sounds borderline hysterical and ill eat it up regardless of what it's about. replace 'astronaut' with any specific character's motivation and you've got a prewrapped blorbo song right there. touya you were born to be your father's destiny and you'll do that or die trying. but there's an overarching air that it's a pity, it's a waste, it's hopeless. the song is almost MOCKING. all touya wants is revenge on endeavor, and yes it's blind and hateful and consumes him, but still is it really so much to ask? but he doesn't even get that much. the way the manga is going, touya will die and endeavor will be redeemed. nothing dabi did ever mattered. touya todoroki never mattered. it was always as ridiculous as a child saying they want to be an astronaut

waiting room - he got away from the abuse he opened his eyes and took down his father from the pedestal he put him on he acknowledged that his dad wasn't the hero anyone thought he was he already admitted the scary thing; that endeavor is not and never was good and everything he fed touya was wrong. it's for the better that he knows these things. it is. it's for the better. he's glad to be away from home. he is he is he is. it's for the better i know it's for the better i know it's for the better

christmas kids - YOU'LL CHANGE YOUR NAME AND CHANGE YOUR MIND AND LEAVE THIS FUCKED UP PLACE BEHIND BUT I'LL KNOW!!!!!!! 'dabi' and 'touya' are such wildly different people because dabi genuinely believes that touya todoroki is dead. he died at thirteen at sekoto peak and dabi was born. they aren't the same. touya was the weak, abused child who just wanted to be good. dabi is the villain ready to spill blood in his name. but at the end of the day, dabi is touya and touya is dabi. he can pick another name, go wherever he likes, join the league of villains if he wants, but that will always, always be true

i bet on losing dogs - this is just perpetually playing when i think about him. he's doomed to fail. he's not going to make it. i already know he isn't but oh god he deserved better

a burning hill - okay i was feeling funny like yes 'im tired of wanting more' 'im a forest fire and i am the fire and i am the forest and i am the witness watching it' is v touya coded and the general exhaustion of this song is horrific on its own let alone applied to a character that has been through so goddamn much, but also... it's literally a burning hill.... sekoto peak was a burning hill.... ha.... haha

mary on a cross - so glad u specificaly sent this ask bc the tbosutuals are SO insane about this song. like yes like all ghost songs it's technically just about horny sin but i will always, always associate this song with character death. specifically (and this is why it upsets me so much) this is one of the few character death songs of mine that isn't objectively sad, and that's because it reminds me of their LIFE. like it feels like a flashback in the moment of death of all the beautiful things, and it was beautiful it was brilliant, but they die anyway. they dont get to make it despite despite despite. and THAT'S why this song will always fuck with me. so yeah. touya. admittedly he's not on darya's level yet bc this will always be her song but for me to even touch this song with another character speaks volumes

cigarette daydreams - the ultimate 'you were too young to experience what you did' anthem. the vibes of this song are so dismal it sounds like what rain feels like. you were only seventeen. touya was 13/14 when he died and he woke up from his coma as dabi when he was 16/17 (pretty sure it was 16 but 17 works better with this song so shhhh). and then he's just. unaccounted for until he's 24. he's nothing and no one on the streets of japan and in the criminal underworld and he's just a fucking kid. a scared, traumatised, in constant pain kid.

hearing damage - hiiii it's me and this song again <3 similar to cigarette daydreams im going crazy about vibes again. like this song is so unsettling it's like static it FEELS like a dissociation and that's a really common coping mechanism for someone who's experienced high levels of trauma/constant stress to just pull the shutters down and tap out of the bad thing happening. like ive said before even if it isnt confirmed or denied yet that i know of i do firmly believe that dabi's just been on the streets since he was a teenager and i just think this really fits.

class of 2013 - rei never saved him. that child still screaming for their mother to help them never ever goes away. he's this big scary villain now, covered in scars and piercings, but every single day he has to fight and keep up a mask and watch for threats. do you think he thinks about her then? him, tired and so so hurt, and her fading away in a hospital because, just like him, she broke under the weight of enji's ambition? they're the two family fuck-ups, the two that couldn't take it, do you think he misses her? just once, could she wash the dye out of his hair and save him?

It’s just amazing to me how much Seungho’s father sickens me 😔 he is so disgusting to me! I mean I despise abusive fathers/parents, and Enji Todoroki is one of those kind of parent but even with him I don’t want him dead! Seungho’s father however…dead I do want that for him! Anyways, it’s just he sickens me, and the fact that some people talk about how he loves his son. To which I guess there are twisted senses of love, and dark senses of love BUT I don’t know I can’t even call it love of any sort! I look at the things he has done to Seungho, and I’m like “that’s not love”!

So, let’s look at some of the things he has done to Seungho - as a child:

Brutally beaten Seungho, until he was bleeding and his eyes bruised and swollen. Plus left his beaten body in the rain.

Isolated Seungho.

Neglect

Had Seungho as a child SA’d, the whole tying his child down to make him watch two adults have sex.

As an adult:

Emotional/mental abuse - telling your child you hate them, telling them they are nothing and you wished they had died.(I think we could possibly add that to as a child too - I’m sure he did that to him as a child too)

Sending an assassin/servant to go stab him, which is awful! “oh but he made sure to miss vital parts” He still sent someone to stab his son!

Incriminating the one person your son loves dearly, and is the sole reason he turned himself around and began to become a healthier person. That’s also a very sickening thing to do to your child. Especially when said incrimination means execution!

I just can’t see it as love I’m sorry 😭 I feel like what he feels for Seungho isn’t love at all! Maybe he feels a sense of responsibility for Seungho as his father, but I feel it’s more of control and cares for his honour in the family lineage. Seungho had been bringing shame to that with his past ways! Honestly, there’s just something so heartbreaking to me, seeing a grown man look so terrified and physically shaking because of their abuser. The look on Seungho’s face was so haunting to me, and like honestly when I think of what his father did to him. How he raised him it’s no wonder he was so toxic and fucked up! It doesn’t excuse the way he treated Nakyum at first, or his behaviour at all but it definitely explains it! The whoring around, lashing out and all round toxic behaviour. And now I’m terrified for Seungho, because he was making such good progress with becoming a healthier and better person BUT now he’s pledged his life back to his abuser in order to save Nakyum’s life!
