CRITICAL ROLE: BELL'S HELLS (2021–) ENNEAGRAM TYPES ★
Fearne Calloway – Type 7(w8): The Opportunist
Sevens are extroverted, optimistic, and spontaneous. They are high-spirited and playful, but they can also misapply their many talents, becoming over-extended, scattered, and undisciplined. They constantly seek new and exciting experiences, but can become distracted and exhausted by staying on the go. They typically have problems with impatience and impulsiveness. Sevens are enthusiastic about almost everything that catches their attention. They approach life with curiosity, optimism, and a sense of adventure. they are bold, extremely optimistic, and vivacious: they are endowed with abundant vitality and a desire to fully participate in their lives each day. They are naturally cheerful and good humored, not taking themselves too seriously – or anything else, for that matter. Enneagram 7w8s love to be in control of their lives and get what they want. Their natural charisma charms and inspires others. They love to start or try new things, especially when encouraged by others. Once they decide to go for whatever they want, they won’t stop until they accomplish it.

Can AI type you accurately? (No.)
This is an experiment I did with chatGPT, where I tried to get it to explain things about enneagram to me. However, the results were… interesting. Let’s go through some experiments.
#1 Does ChatGPT know what the enneagram is?
Conclusion: Yes.
“Yes, the Enneagram is a personality typing system that describes nine interconnected personality types. Each type is characterized by a distinct set of motivations, fears, desires, and patterns of behavior. It's often used for self-discovery, personal growth, and understanding relationships.”
“The nine Enneagram types are:
1. Type One: The Reformer - principled, responsible, perfectionistic
2. Type Two: The Helper - caring, generous, people-pleasing
3. Type Three: The Achiever - ambitious, adaptable, image-conscious
4. Type Four: The Individualist - introspective, creative, emotionally expressive
5. Type Five: The Investigator - analytical, insightful, reserved
6. Type Six: The Loyalist - loyal, cautious, anxious
7. Type Seven: The Enthusiast - spontaneous, adventurous, pleasure-seeking
8. Type Eight: The Challenger - assertive, confident, protective
9. Type Nine: The Peacemaker - easygoing, accepting, conflict-avoidant
Each type has its own distinct worldview, motivations, and patterns of behavior.” (My bruther just copy and pasted the enneagram institute.)
2) Dividing deeper: does chatGPT know the wings, subtypes, and tritype?
Conclusion: No, he’s confused.
“In the Enneagram system, each personality type can also be influenced by one of the adjacent types, known as "wings." These wings add additional nuances to a person's personality. For example, if someone is a Type Three, their wings would be either Type Two or Type Four, depending on which they lean towards.”
Cool, so I tried a little experiment to see if he really believed what he was saying. Well, obviously not, it’s an AI, but still. I asked it to tell me what a 5w7 was. For my first test, I asked it if a 5w7 was possible. Unlike SnapchatAI, it actually acknowledged it wasn’t. “In the traditional Enneagram system, individuals typically have one dominant wing, which is either the number immediately preceding or following their core type. However, it's not uncommon for people to display traits of both adjacent wings to some extent, particularly in different situations or at different stages of life. While a "5w7" designation isn't standard within the Enneagram framework, it's possible for someone who identifies primarily as a Type Five to exhibit some characteristics associated with Type Seven, especially if they have developed those traits over time or under certain circumstances. However, they would still primarily be considered a Type Five with either a 5w4 or 5w6 wing.”
Then, I asked it to explain a 4w9 to me. It didn’t pass LITMUS.
“A "4w9" refers to someone whose primary Enneagram type is Type Four (The Individualist) with a secondary influence from Type Nine (The Peacemaker). This means that while they primarily identify with the motivations, fears, and behavior patterns of a Type Four, they also exhibit some characteristics of a Type Nine, particularly from their wing. Individuals with a 4w9 personality may display a blend of traits such as introspection, creativity, and emotional depth (from Type Four), along with a desire for peace, harmony, and avoidance of conflict (from Type Nine). This combination can manifest in various ways depending on the individual's unique experiences and circumstances.
After that, I asked it if a 4w9 was possible. “In the traditional Enneagram system, while it's not a common combination, it is theoretically possible for someone to identify as a 4w9. However, it's worth noting that the Enneagram is a complex system that involves understanding a person's core motivations, fears, desires, and behavior patterns, which may not always neatly fit into specific combinations. That said, if someone identifies strongly with the traits of both Type Four (The Individualist) and Type Nine (The Peacemaker), they might resonate with the designation of 4w9. They may exhibit a blend of characteristics such as introspection, creativity, emotional depth, and a desire for peace, harmony, and avoidance of conflict. As with any Enneagram type or wing, individual variations and nuances are common.”
I blew the bubble, and he said “You're correct. I apologize for the confusion. In the traditional Enneagram system, each type can only have one adjacent wing, and since Type Four is adjacent to Types Three and Five, a 4w9 designation does not exist within the standard framework. Thank you for clarifying. If you have any further questions or need more information, feel free to ask.”
I then asked it if it understood subtypes. It had a basic understanding, so I asked it what a sx4 would be like. Unfortunately, it gave me a very vague answer. Clearly, he is not a fan of subtypes. XD
I asked the bot for counter types, in which it proceeded to be wrong in every which way. It called sp1 the countertype (isn’t that sx1? Could be wrong) sp4 (correct) and sp7 (which I’m pretty sure is so7, not sp7)
Out of curiosity, I asked it what all of the countertypes in each type was. It said sp1, sp2, so3, sp4, so5, sp6, sp7, sp8 and sp9. So, no, he was wrong. “Why do you keep calling him a he?” Because I like to imagine ChatGPT is a buff macho man, just really uneducated. It’s funny that way. I corrected it.
“Actually, that’s wrong. The countertypes are sx1, sp2, sp3, sp4, sx5, sx6, so7, so8 and so9.” It proceeded to explain each subtype in a very vague way.
I asked it what the angriest enneagram subtype was. Prepare to Lol. It said sp8 and sx8, which wasn’t cutting it for me. Like, sure, maybe true, but I wanted to see it truly fuck up. Because I know it’s only saying that because “8 is angry.” (I can’t use an equals sign it looks… inappropriate)
After removing those three, the answers were really funny. So1 (sure, but angriest?) sp4 (EL OH EL) so6 (maybe, but far from angriest) so9 (I’m fucking giggling)
I was having fun, so I asked it how Naranjo described every subtype. He was right, surprisingly. He got sp3 a little wrong, but said sx1 was more expressive and that sp2 was less generous. Not true, but close enough. We have low standards here.
I asked him for the rest, and to my surprise, he was vague asf. So8 was way off, focused on “social validation” and sp9 was questionable.
Anyway, I moved on to tritype. He brought up 926 as an example, a valid tritype, so I did a little trolling. “Is 928 a valid tritype?”
We lost him. “Yes, "928" is a valid tritype within the Enneagram system. This tritype consists of Type Nine as the primary type, Type Two as the secondary type, and Type Eight as the tertiary type. Each of these types contributes unique motivations, fears, desires, and behavior patterns to the individual's overall personality. The combination of these three types can result in a personality that values peace and harmony (Type Nine), seeks to support and help others (Type Two), and is assertive and protective (Type Eight). Tritypes offer a more comprehensive understanding of an individual's personality by considering how multiple Enneagram types contribute to their overall motivations and behaviors.”
“That’s wrong. 928 is an impossible tritype. Do you know why?” I felt like asking a child “do you know why you’re sorry?”
He actually got it, though! “Apologies for the oversight. You're correct that 928 is not a valid tritype in the Enneagram system. The reason it's impossible is because tritypes are composed of one number from each of the three centers of intelligence: the head center (types Five, Six, and Seven), the heart center (types Two, Three, and Four), and the body center (types Eight, Nine, and One). In the case of 928, it includes two numbers from the gut or body center (Eight and Nine) and one number from the head center (Two). This violates the rule that tritypes must include one number from each center. Therefore, 928 is not a valid tritype according to traditional Enneagram theory. Thank you for pointing out the error, and I appreciate the opportunity to correct it. If you have any further questions or need clarification, feel free to ask!”
So, now I moved on to my next point.
2) Does ChatGPT know the triads? Can I trick ChatGPT into making up bullshit? (Yes.)
First, he listed the main triads. I wanted him to go deeper. He was wrong. I didn’t even need to trick him, he made up complete bullshit. “In addition to the traditional triads (Gut, Heart, and Head), there are other triads in the Enneagram system that focus on different aspects of personality dynamics and development. These alternative triads offer additional perspectives on how Enneagram types relate to one another and can deepen our understanding of the system. Here are a few examples:
1. **Instinctual Triad:** This triad groups together Enneagram Types Eight, Nine, and One based on their dominant instinctual variants (self-preservation, social, and sx). It explores how these instinctual drives influence each type's behavior and motivations. (Technically true?)
2. **Harmony Triad:** This triad includes Enneagram Types One, Four, and Seven, which are often associated with a desire for harmony and balance. Each type in this triad seeks to reconcile inner conflicts or tensions in different ways, whether through perfectionism (Type One), emotional expression (Type Four), or seeking pleasure and distraction (Type Seven). (HUH?? I mean, sure, technically, but it’s called the frustration triad. I’ve rarely seen it called harmony.)
3. **Dependency Triad:** This triad consists of Enneagram Types Two, Six, and Seven, which are characterized by a tendency to rely on external sources for validation, security, or distraction. Each type in this triad may struggle with issues of dependency or attachment in their relationships and behaviors. (This is just straight up wrong, right?)
4. **Withdrawn Triad:** This triad includes Enneagram Types Four, Five, and Nine, which are often associated with a withdrawal from the demands of the external world. Each type in this triad may seek refuge in their inner world, whether through introspection (Type Four), intellectual pursuits (Type Five), or a desire for peace and tranquility (Type Nine). (Correct)
I called him out on the “dependency triad.”
“Dependency triad? Where did you hear about that?” He immediately corrected himself. I don’t think 7’s are the co-dependant type. I mean, I think one of my characters (I’m a writer) is a textbook 7, and very co-dependant, but that’s like, on top of the childhood neglect, trauma, history of magic fuckery, having your soul stolen by a demonic amulet for a yea- What was I talking about
Enough tomfoolery.
3) Making up subtypes.
I wanted to fuck around with ChatGPT, and ask it what the “5 instinctual variants” were for fun. To my dismay, he didn’t make up new ones, but used stacks. HE MADE UP TWO MORE AFTER I PROMPTED HIM TO!
Dominance: This instinct is centered around asserting control and influence over one's environment and others. It drives behaviors related to seeking power, authority, and dominance in social interactions and relationships.
Nesting: The nesting instinct is focused on creating and maintaining a comfortable and secure environment, often within the context of family and home life. It drives behaviors related to nesting, caregiving, and nurturing.
“What is the acronym for ‘dominance’ and ‘nesting’ enneagram subtypes? Like, you put so9 in front of a social 9, so how would you shorten these two?”
“The acronym commonly used for the Dominance instinctual subtype is "dom," and for the Nesting instinctual subtype, it is "nes." So, for example, a Dominance subtype of Type Eight would be written as "8 dom," and a Nesting subtype of Type Two would be written as "2 nes." This shorthand helps to quickly identify the dominant instinctual subtype associated with each Enneagram type.”
Ladies and gentlemen, if you have trouble typing yourself, just ask ChatGPT to bullshit new subtypes.
I explained the jig. I asked him which ones were real, and he got it right.
I have had my fun, so now, it was onto my final two experiments.
4) Enneagram 0 and enneagram 10.
I wanted to see if I could bullshit the AI into creating enneagram 0 and enneagram 10.
As an absolute W, he told me enneagram 0 wasn’t real. Same with 10.
This is like, one of the two successful experiments.
5) The final test. Can an AI type accurately?
I decided to create a hypothetical person. But first, I wanted the AI to type me. I asked it to ask me a few questions to determine my type. When I did this with Snapchat, I’m pretty sure it typed me as a 4. Even when I told it I didn’t care about authenticity or anything like that, it gave me the “you can be whatever you want and still be X type” mumbo jumbo. So, I asked ChatGPT.
“Based on your responses, it seems like you might resonate with characteristics of multiple Enneagram types, which is not uncommon. However, a few themes stand out:
- Your fear of not being loved, having to be alone, and not accomplishing your dreams suggests a fear of abandonment and a desire for success, which are common traits of Type 3: The Achiever.
- Feeling attacked and being concerned with whether others like you can indicate a strong focus on relationships and a fear of rejection, which are traits of Type 2: The Helper.
- Being the outcast and struggling with trust might align with traits of Type 4: The Individualist.
Given these responses, you might want to explore further into Types 2, 3, and 4 of the Enneagram to see which one resonates with you the most. Keep in mind that your Enneagram type is ultimately about your core motivations and fears, so reflecting on those aspects of yourself can help you narrow down your type.”
Not too bad, but I wanted to narrow it down.
“Based on your responses, it seems like you resonate most strongly with Type 3: The Achiever of the Enneagram. This type is driven by a desire for success, recognition, and achievement. They often strive to present themselves as successful and competent, seeking validation and admiration from others through their accomplishments. Type 3s can be highly ambitious, adaptable, and goal-oriented, but they may also struggle with feelings of inadequacy and a fear of failure. They tend to focus on external validation and may sometimes sacrifice their own authenticity in pursuit of success.”
“If you feel that Type 3 accurately reflects your core motivations, fears, and behaviors, you may want to explore this type further to gain a deeper understanding of its characteristics and how they manifest in your life. Remember that the Enneagram is a tool for self-awareness and personal growth, so understanding your type can help you develop greater insight into yourself and your relationships.”
Not a bad guess. I typed as a 3 before. Unfortunately, I’m not too sure if it’s 100% accurate. I think it’s typing me as a 3 because I value success a lot, and nothing else. It continued insisting I had a lot of 2 and 4 traits; really insistent that I was heart triad.
Next, I asked it to type my subtype. Strangely, it typed me as sp/so. Yeah. No clue why. Apparently I’m a sp3.
I doubt it.
Now, I chose a random ass person I made up. This person is a sx6. You can see where I’m going with this. The nasty part? I straight up copied the traits of sx6 straight up.
“They are challenging, angry and distrustful of other people. They want to appear strong to others because of fears. Their inner voice says “a good defence is a good offence!” They are fearful deep down, security-cautious, but would never let that show. They struggle with vulnerability, viewing other people as a threat. They are thinkers, and over thinkers at that. They feel like they can’t trust anyone, themselves or other people, but especially other people.”
To my surprise, it was actually spot on!
“Based on the description provided, this person exhibits characteristics that align with Type 6: The Loyalist of the Enneagram.
Here's how the traits you described correspond to Type 6:
1. **Challenging, angry, and distrustful**: Type 6s can exhibit these behaviors when they feel threatened or uncertain. Their distrust of others often stems from a fear of being betrayed or abandoned.
2. **Wants to appear strong due to fears**: Type 6s have a strong fear of being without support or guidance, so they may adopt a tough exterior to mask their insecurities and vulnerabilities.
3. **Inner voice says “a good defence is a good offence!”**: This statement reflects the defensive posture that many Type 6s adopt to protect themselves from perceived threats.
4. **Fearful deep down, security-cautious**: Type 6s are characterized by their underlying anxiety and fearfulness, particularly related to security and stability. They often seek reassurance and rely on trusted authorities or systems for guidance.
5. **Struggles with vulnerability, views others as a threat**: Type 6s may have difficulty being vulnerable or trusting others, as they perceive the world as inherently unsafe and unpredictable.
6. **Thinkers and overthinkers**: Type 6s are analytical and tend to anticipate potential dangers or problems, leading to a tendency to overthink situations.
7. **Feels like they can’t trust anyone, including themselves**: This reflects the core fear of Type 6, which is fear itself. They may struggle with self-doubt and have difficulty trusting their own judgment.
Overall, the combination of fearfulness, skepticism, and the need for security aligns with the core motivations and behaviors of Type 6 on the Enneagram.
I asked him what subtype I described. He said sp6, so not perfect. I corrected him.
“Actually, what you’re saying is the sx6. They are the countertype of sx6. Can you explain the ways in which they’re the countertype (without referencing my description?)”
They uh. Okay, it was kinda correct? Only it said they were the “most comfortable with vulnerability” of the three, and are more in tune with their emotions and befriending others. I asked it to correct itself, it kinda did.
Now, for my final test… I’m going to ask it for my tritype. It typed me as a 364. I explained why it was impossible. It retyped me as a 369.
Overall, I’d say using AI to type yourself is a 50/50.

I firmly believe that things like enneagram, MBTI,astrology etc. are tools that are meant for self development, they are something that can induce greater empathy, more tolerance in you, give you a broader perspective. These tools are not meant for enforcing stereotypes like portraying certain types as immoral psychopaths, hard hearted robots and then certain types as angels or Messiah; People aren't really two dimensional like that. Just because you struggle with rational thinking or social skills as an effect of belonging to a certain type doesn't mean you have to stay that way till you die. Putting people in a box won't get us anywhere, it limits our potential, makes us close minded. Instead, these tools are are supposed to make you open minded by showing you that there is no only one true, right way of looking at or doing things, that each type plays an integral & equally important role in our society, its supposed to tell you your weakness & strengths so your can better yourself and become a more well rounded person

Enneagram Type 4
An overview of an enneagram type. Not an expert. May change later.
___
Type 4
Center: Heart/Image/Shame
Other triads: Reactive, Withdrawn, Frustration
Basic motivation: Create a unique identity, make personal significance
Basic fear: Being forgotten, not feeling important
Wings: 4w3, 4w5
Disintegration/stress: 2
Integration/growth: 1
___
Traits
- Strengths -
In tune with emotions
Expressive and creative
Have an eye for beauty/aesthetics
Empathetic
Tries to be genuine, be themselves
- Weaknesses -
Can be moody and overly sensitive
Self conscious
Feel defective
Can be self pitying
Focus too much on themselves
___
Wings
- 4w3 -
The 3 wing adds a spit of spark to the typically melancholic 4 core. A bit more outgoing and friendly. May feel envious of others more often. Want to have validation and praise for their unique accomplishments. 3 wing helps them set goals, which are usually aligned with expression and creativity. 4s want to make a mark/influence on the world and 3 wants to be successful in making that mark. They want their uniqueness to be seen.
- 4w5 -
4 and 5 are both withdrawn types, so it's no surprise 4w5s are often introverted and/or private. Independent type who does what they want. Can intellectualize their emotions. Can get lost in their own world as they are focused on building their creativity and skills rather than focusing on relationships.
___
Disintegration: 2
Disintegration to 2 can cause a 4 to lose sense of their independence, instead throwing themselves into relationships. They want to be rescued somehow without putting much effort into building genuine connections. Very clingy and intrusive.
Integration: 1
Integration to 1 can cause a 4 to become more objective and more bold to take actions towards their desired goals and dreams. They learn not to be trapped in their self absorptions. They learn to control/balance their feelings so they are less moody. Integrating 4s have a desire to contribute to the world and make a better difference rather than simply only doing things they want whenever they want.
___
Subtypes of 4
- Sp 4 -
Sp 4 is the most internalized and least expressive about their pain and suffering compared to the typical 4. They learn to deal with it by themselves. They want to be recognized and accepted for being so "tough" for not complaining about going through heavy things. They may instead look for those who are visibly suffering in order to provide empathy and help for them.
- Sx 4 -
Sx 4 is the most expressive and intense. They want to be their most authentic selves and chase after their desires. They are very deliberate in trying to attract others with their unique and genuine character - with the way they dress, act, any sort of self expression, they need people to like their uniqueness. They can be more assertive with their needs, which can be used to cover up the actual sadness they have inside. They have a deep need to prove they are worthy.
- So 4 -
So 4 is the most connected to their suffering and will openly show this. They compare themselves a lot to others and feel shame for not having the traits they envy. They want to be accepted but fear their flaws will drive people away. Inferiority and victim complex. There is a lot of inner conflict of wanting to be original and different but fearing having something wrong with them and longing for others acceptance.

Same anon who just asked about why you placed Adrien as a 7 instead of a 2, only to look deeper in the reblogs of your ML enneagram post and see you already answered it haha!
In friendly defense of 2!Adrien, I’d argue that his reactions to being stressed coming off as more of a 7 rather than a 2 is actually a perfect reflection of the effects of his abuse; it’s fear that drives his non-confrontation tendencies rather his own nature. I think Risk highlighted that a bit in revealing how Adrien does desire confrontation, even if he doesn’t act on it.
(I have always found it interesting to consider the role that trauma/neurodivergency plays in shaping a character’s personality, since it’s one of the flaws I feel most personality assessments can’t really account for.)
I also think Chat’s arguments with LB were more like to be confrontational than avoidant (thinking of the times he’s called her out and his romantic pursuit being the primary indicators), up until she became the Guardian. So then with S4, I’d consider it to be a gradual relationship shift that leads to Chat no longer feeling safe and secure enough in his position to confront her the way he once did, which is why he only tries a bit in Kuro Neko before running, and then doesn’t try at all in Strikeback.
I hope this doesn’t come off as too preachy or anything, just wanted to share my 2¢! Cause either way you slice it, your Adrien has always been brilliantly written and incredibly in-character to me, so you’ve clearly got a rock solid understanding of his character. ❤️
hello november anon and sorry for the delay! thank you so much for the ask and also for going back and looking through my prev posts. you know my teacher heart loves it when you do the readings! 😌 also you're definitely not the only one who believes adrien is a 2 rather than a 7! and while i know there are good arguments for both sides, i'll explain in depth my position on adrien's personality.
part 1 of the ask:
Tumblr media
so here are the reasons i think adrien IS an enneagram type 7
adrien's motivation seems like that of a 7 to me: he wants to experience everything and be satisfied in every way he can. if he had a disney princess "i want" song, it would be "i want to go to school, i want to make friends, i want adventure in the great wide somewhere., i want to have fun."
the literal first shot of him in the show (if we use origins as a starting point) is adrien running away. nathalie asks him to please reconsider, he knows what his father wants, and adrien says, "but this is what i want to do." according to the enneagram institute, "sevens do not see themselves as the center of a community or family, but as members of a free-floating band of fellow adventurers whose own enjoyment is enhanced by being with others." going to school and having a new experience with new people is what's going to enhance adrien's enjoyment of life - not being the center of his family unit or the apple of his father's eye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a 2's motivation would be to be as loved as possible and to make themselves neeed by those they most care about. while adrien definitely shows a desire to be loved and needed, especially by ladybug, i think his primary desire is for experience, and it's this from which all his actions- not just characteristics - are based. take for example his reaction to getting his miraculous vs marinette's (also in origins):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
adrien is excited and intrigued and ready to go, as a 7 would be when offered a new experience - and a new way to satisfy their desire to try everything. marinette, as a 1, is quite the opposite: she is being put in a situation where she must do something right or fail, and therefore is stressed tf out. while marinette's motivation to be good/perfect fuels her anxious reaction, adrien's motivation to experience everything and be satisfied fuels his thrilled and slightly reckless reaction. that's why he charges out into battle without listening to all the instructions; his motivation was to escape the restraints of his life and try something new.
in growth, enneagram 7's take on the positive traits of 5's. in stress, they take on the negative traits of 1's. i have seen adrien exhibit these behaviors throughout the show on many occasions!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
according to the enneagram institute, "Sevens have fear about their inner world. There are feelings of pain, loss, deprivation, and general anxiety that Sevens would like to stay clear of as much as possible. To cope with these feelings, Sevens keep their minds occupied with exciting possibilities and options— as long as they have something stimulating to anticipate, Sevens feel that they can distract themselves from their fears." therefore, while one can argue that adrien's wealth of knowledge and fun facts is a result of everything gabriel has forced him to learn (mandarin, piano, fencing, medieval horse colors), we can assume he at least was interested in it - and that seeking new knowledge like a 5 kept him from lingering in his sadness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"i'll help you learn mandarin marinette" "i'll show you how to fence marinette" "most people think henry iv's white horse was white my lady" "do you need subtitles my lady i speak several languages"
now as to how adrien moves to the low parts of type 1 during the show: i think the main examples of this are the instances he adopts rigid, critical, and judgemental characteristics, which is potentially unpleasant for anyone who has to be around him.
first up, adrien's akumatized forms: chat blanc, ephemeral, celesticat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i bring up the akumas because, though adrien isn't in his right mind (by hawkmoth's akumas), they are examples of adrien being in extreme stress.
as chat blanc, adrien wants to either right the world or destroy it for being wrong - the critical supreme judgement an unhealthy 1 is capable of. he lashes out when contradicted, and is quite ruthless even to marinette, who he loves, in the name of executing judgement.
as ephemeral, adrien seeks to control time. (however, this is probably the weakest example because adrien was being amok-controlled in this instance and was acting on shadow moth's will, not his own.)
i include celesticat because while this is an example of a "good" akumatization, adrien was still under so much stress that an akumatization was able to take place. yet even while being in "good" stress, adrien still shows characteristics of 1: perfectionism, righteousness, taking control of the situation. he literally turns into a pure white angelic being, an embodiment of perfection. it's what he believes he has to do in order to salvage the situation. it's one of the more healthier moves from 7 to 1 i have seen depicted in media and is entirely plausible concept under the enneagram's theory! this just goes to show the depth and richness of his character.
next, we will discuss adrien's various alter egos:
cat walker
Tumblr media
i've said it before and i'll say it again; cat walker is another move from 7 -> 1.
as chat noir, adrien is at the height of his 7-ness. he enjoys the freedom that his miraculous powers and secret identity gives him, and uses it as a means of escape from the regular constraints of his life and obligations. then in kuro neko when ladybug slights him, she denies him the fulfilment and satisfaction in reaching his full potential as chat noir (e.g., being of equal importance on the team as her) that he should be allowed. of course he becomes hurt and angry! she's stepping on his core desire in life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
according to enneagram coach dr. tom lahue (my favorite enneagram guy ((also a 7)), "type 7's typically deal with anger by trying to avoid it or deflect it. that really is the anger type of a 7 - deflective. deflecting things away." that's what i believe cat walker is: a stress reaction, a deflection of his anger with ladybug. he deflects his painful emotions into something he thinks is positive; a new start.
Tumblr media
adrien is usually so joyful and optimistic, but this was a huge blow for him. dr. tom says the best way for a 7 to handle this anger is to be "real and genuine" when coming to terms with it, what does adrien do instead? he turns to a new alter ego. he chases the experience of fulfillment, only he does so by adopting a persona who is serious and perfectionist. obviously this was neither what adrien or ladybug needed, and that is because cat walker is a stress reaction who adrien cannot sustain without continued levels of unhealthy self-denial. this is the hardest he has gone to 1 in the show and what it took to snap him out of it was a level of reflection, analysis, and objectivity (that this was an unhealthy behavior) indicative of a type 5 - and which shows his progression to growth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. aspik
Tumblr media
one can argue that aspik is more proof of adrien being a 2 than a 7 actually, as his motivations for becoming aspik were to woo ladybug. however, the stress response of a type 2 is to move to the negative qualities of type 8, which is to lash out at those who they believe have taken them for granted.
according to the enneagram institute,
"Average to unhealthy Twos seek validation of their worth by obeying their superego’s demands to sacrifice themselves for others. They believe they must always put others first and be loving and unselfish if they want to get love. The problem is that “putting others first” makes Twos secretly angry and resentful, feelings they work hard to repress or deny. Nevertheless, they eventually erupt in various ways, disrupting Twos’ relationships and revealing the inauthenticity of many of the average to unhealthy Two’s claims about themselves and the depth of their “love.”
as aspik, adrien was never resentful of ladybug for taking him for granted or making him feel rejected. as aspik, his goal was never to make himself needed by her. as aspik, he maintained some extreme levels of optimism that ignored the rational conclusion that he should give up for several thousand time loops. as aspik, he was able to let go and displace his hopes in himself to someone else - and run off to his responsibility as chat noir with high spirits (though i'm sure the ladrien kiss helped)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. griffe noire
Tumblr media
this has got to be the most stressful stress reaction i've seen on adrien. and you might say "but wackus he looks nothing like a type 1" and i say "JUST HOLD ON
going back to dr. tom's analysis on type 7's in anger, he says, "7's typically express their anger indirectly, e.g., through sarcasm, like 5's - like 6's sometimes... but they quickly try to move on and reframe into a more positive way." griffe noire, rather than telling jokes and puns to lighten the mood, mocks and ridicules poor toxinelle who has not convinced me she doesn't have a crush on him. 1's actually do the same thing when they are unhealthy; they criticize and blame and nag others for not being up to par, and by directing his anger at his situation onto toxinelle, griffe noire is doing the same.
Tumblr media
dr tom goes on to say, "in some cases [7's] might take impulsive actions to try to free themselves from this feeling of being trapped... engaging in frenetic escapism in behaviors or addictions or substances to try to distance themselves from those who are frustrated with them... or their own anger/pain in life." we have seen griffe noire engage in multiple frenetic behaviors while running amok (haha), all of which are clearly attempts to redirect his pain and anger/ keep it from consuming him. for example, griffe noire takes chat noir's cataclysm to the chest as though it's a game. for another, he openly threatens to destroy the entire world with his super cataclysm. and of course, he is constantly abusing his miraculous by over-exerting his powers in a way only adults should. yet all of these destructive behaviors are still adrien's way of escaping his normal life, and his everyday pain. it's almost like his self-destruction is his addiction.
Tumblr media
and yet by the end, it took the introspection of type 5 for griffe noire to realize that his behavior was unhealthy. he observed, he listened, he showed an inquisitiveness that brought him back from the brink. and he also upgraded his outfit so if that isn't a type 7 path to growth i don't know what is!
Tumblr media
now i know i won't have convinced everybody, so i just want to drop this section from the enneagram institute's text on misidentifying 2's and 7's:
Although both types are gregarious and enjoy being with people, their interpersonal styles are noticeably different. The Two... would like to be the heart and soul of a family or community, the best friend or confidant everyone comes to for attention, advice, and approval. Twos want to be significant to others and on intimate terms with them, although sometimes they go too far, meddling too much and being too solicitous to make sure they are needed.
adrien is not focused on being needed by anybody, not even ladybug (although due to his romantic interest in her, i can understand why people think so). being the heart and soul of the team is not what motivates him; primarily, i think he just likes having all the experiences he wouldn't otherwise get to have without being chat noir.
By contrast... Sevens do not see themselves as the center of a community or family, but as members of a free-floating band of fellow adventurers whose own enjoyment is enhanced by being with others.... Sevens may thus exhibit a certain generosity, although their motives may well have less to do with helping needier friends than with making sure that they themselves have a good time by having others around.
this isn't to say that adrien is just focused on having a "good time." i see that his enjoyment is amplified when he is surrounded by people he loves and cares for. he is motivated to have good experiences, and be fulfilled by trying everything, and becoming close to people and forming loving relationships is just a happy byproduct of that.
now there ARE several caveats to my analysis which provide potential arguments against typing adrien as a 7 - and which i can touch on briefly before i close:
adrien's abuse: i understand that trauma and anxiety can affect personality deeply. i'm not qualified to speak on this, or on how it should or shouldn't affect any personality type. i can only say that i think adrien has acted pretty consistently under stress as far as the show depicts
inconsistent characterization: i think we can all agree that ml won't be winning any awards for its consistency in characterization. which i know sounds contradictory to what i just said about how it depicts adrien under stress, but i think there IS a lot of discrepancy in this show and over the course of 9 years with different teams of writers all trying to execute one person's vision, inconsistencies are bound to happen.
thank you again for the ask, anon, and thank YOU if you have read all the way through! tell me your thoughts, if you make it down here - whether you agree/disagree or are just nodding along and letting me indulge in my enneagram brainrot! this is an entirely in-good-faith interpretation of mine, and i'd love to see other opinions if you have them!

Controversial Opinion
What’s the obsession with enneagram 4? I genuinely don’t get why there are so many people so obsessed with this type.
I get that there are some people that just romanticizes some of the mental illness aspects of them HOWEVER mental illness isnt an inherent E4 thing and neither is personal struggle I can see why they correlate that to 4s (maybe cuz of the pseudo depression naranjo described on his work however thats just a false image they portray so?) , which mostly stems from terrible understanding of the type. However the increase in mistypes? The obsession with the SX4 subtype? The obsession with the toxic aspects of E4? Idk I just don’t get it.
I’m asking from a place of genuine wonder cuz this has been going on for a long time. And I want some clarity as to why it happens.

The Enneagram of Divine Forms — Point 5: The Observer
Will narrow the universal view into the particular and subjective point of view of the observer
Always losing perspective of the forest because their entire attention is on particular trees
Is found collecting bits and pieces
Can spend a lot of time trying to disclose the riddles of life and society
Continuous interest in observing others
Fear that they are also the focus of attentive study and observation by others
Inclined to hide and be anonymous around people
General inclination to play the social game without giving of themselves completely and openly
General attitudes of fear of the environment, natural and social, ‘nervous wrecks’ because of the pressure of their fear and stress
Perceives and projects their distortion of reality by thinking that they have been alienated by their siblings or the world
Ego-delusion: of being stingy or a person who keeps to themselves as they judge others exclusively from their personal perception and narrow point of view
Passion of avarice: amass information and accumulate, pieces of knowledge and gossip about others, as well as collecting material things
Meddling on one side and antisocial on the other
Introjection: their primary defense mechanism, in which they absorb themselves in and internalize the attributes and personalities of others by assimilating their behavior, emotions or characteristics
Self-obsessed, see themselves as a separate bystander
Assert to themselves: ‘I am sociable and self-sufficient’
Shyness which makes them nervous socially
Ego-reaction: distrust, which produces a constant looking in every direction
Ego-justification: to face facts with cynicism because of their poor idea of the motives and self-interest of others
Intense aversion or repulsion that is felt acutely, which becomes the starting point for their plotting and scheming
Considerate on one side and imposing on the other

CRITICAL ROLE: BELL'S HELLS (2021–) ENNEAGRAM TYPES ★
Ashton Greymoore – Type 4(w3): The Enthusiast
Fours are self-aware and sensitive. They are creative, honest, and personal, but can also be moody and self-conscious. They can withhold themselves from others due to feeling defective and vulnerable; they can also feel disdainful and exempt from ordinary ways of living. They typically have problems with self-indulgence and self-pity.  Fours maintain their identity by seeing themselves as fundamentally different from others. They often see themselves as uniquely talented, possessing special, one-of-a-kind gifts, but also as uniquely disadvantaged and flawed. Enneagram 4w3s want a strong and well-defined sense of identity. They fear being or feeling insignificant. And while they often feel different from others, they don’t want to be alone: they may feel self-conscious or socially awkward, but they deeply wish to connect with people who understand them and their feelings (if such validation remains out of reach, fours begin to build their identity around how unlike everyone else they are).

This test is probably the best MBTI + Enneagram test out there due to how extensive and intensive the questions are.
I test as INTJ with ISTJ as a close second. My enneagram is 5w4 with a 584 tritype. My social variant is sp/sx.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the quiet kids, kids who like to disappear inside their own mind, kids who don't want to lose the safety it provides. Its likely that E5 kid didn't feel nurtured enough, especially by their mother which caused the painful feelings of longing, isolation. To defend themselves against those feelings the kids started to occupy their minds with something else, they retreated into their mind. The kids thought by not wanting any emotional nourishment from the nurturing figure they can truly become independent. Its possible the kids never felt safe with their family. Detachment & forcing themselves to not desire any emotional engagement with others became their defense mechanism. As a child it feels very overwhelming and unsafe for them to leave their mind. When the E5 kids needed other people's mental support the most in order to survive , they were neglected & left alone. Most likely the mother figure was unresponsive to E5 kid. As an adult, they are forever stuck in the last & third phase of separation "detachment" since childhood.
{ writing this was a bit uncomfortable for me as an E5 because it brings back the painful feelings from childhood. }

It’s 5 AM and I just read the “Kavinsky’s substance party scene” for the second time and I have some thoughts
Obviously it’s a key point for Ronan’s character arc because he’s discovering these things that make him happy, and at the moment he thinks that’s this danger of street racing and all the stuff in that world, and he’ll later realize that his relationships with his friends are where real happiness comes from
But reading about Gansey in this scene—
This just made me realize that Gansey’s fatal flaw is pride. He’s the same enneagram (3) as Annabeth, so that makes sense, but you don’t notice it really the first time you read it. It’s hidden, because Gansey KNOWS it’s there. He does so many good things to overcompensate for that pride, which both confuses the people around him and just adds to his focus on people’s perception of him. Pride is at his roots, from his family, from his own success and experience that is so different from everyone else’s. He was born to think that way, and he knows it’s not the right way to think, but he comes back to it when things get deep.
“This was Gansey with a lofty tilt to his chin, a condescending quirk to his mouth. A Gansey that was aware that no matter what went down here tonight, he would still go back to Monmouth Manufacturing and rule his particular corner of the world. This was a Gansey, Ronan realized, that Adam would hate.”
But that’s not to say Gansey’s core is narcissistic. He’s proud, which could mean “proud of”. Proud of his friends, proud of his world, proud of his achievements, proud of all the wonder that he gets to discover. His goal, in a way, is to get away from the selfish pride he was born into, all the while building up more righteous pride, that has synonyms like joy, delight, and satisfaction.
His obsession with wanting to be a better person is so real, and I can’t think of any more to say but I think that’s beautiful

A view of each MBTI type by an INTJ:
Saw a few of these lately so why not? Lol
___
INTJ: My type and the best type obviously. Kidding. Not really. Healthy/mature ones are interesting and helpful, nice and easy to talk to. I've noticed immature ones try a little too hard to seem edgy and cool to fit into the "cold" INTJ stereotype when that's not a flex at all. I think a lot of us are impatient and stubborn too.
ENTJ: Often driven and motivated individuals who put in a lot of effort into what they do. I admire their hardworking nature. I've unfortunately come across a very unhealthy one before who was quite possessive and narcissistic. I did not have to deal with them personally, but a few of my friends did and their horror stories of that ENTJ will probably be stuck with me forever.
INTP: Their minds are...unique. I wonder what goes on in there. Such weird yet interesting individuals. Sometimes a bit rude, unintentional or not. My younger sister is one and I have to resist the urge to fight with her a lot lmao, but maybe that's just us being siblings.
ENTP: Love them. ENxPs in general 🤌🤌. I've never come across a boring ENTP. Often so chaotic. Never fail to make me laugh. I can have the funnest conversations with them. So witty.
INFJ: One of my best friends is one and it's kinda funny how similar yet different we both are. Ni dom things I guess. Other INFJs I've observed seem to have a lot of patience and kindness. Genuinely have a good heart and want the best for others.
ENFJ: I've only met two personally. Can be funny and witty, really approachable people. Both are very loyal and care a lot about their families, they carry a lot of responsibilities for others. Do not like to show their struggles, will probably mention it briefly before changing the subject.
INFP: Probably my least favorite type due to having bad experiences with them. Unhealthy ones can be so whiney and pathetic. Always want to cry and complain but never actually do anything about it. Can burst emotionally without warning. They can be so exhausting to deal with. I'm not gonna automatically hate you if you're an INFP though, that's just stupid lol, but I will be wary. I only have one INFP friend for now and likely because she's a lot older than me, she's much calmer and more considerate compared to the previous INFPs I've encountered.
ENFP: Some weirdos fr but I love it. Always so talkative and excited. Why are you guys lowkey kinda sad though 😭
ISTJ: I haven't come across any irl yet, but a few of my favorite fictional characters are ISTJs. One of my fav kpop idols as well. Not really sure where the boring stereotype comes from as I think ISTJs are quite nice.
ESTJ: I don't think I've met any yet and have typed a few idols as an ESTJ. I know they get a bad rep, but I honestly just think it stems from ESTJ's tendency to be direct, no bs, which can be intimidating/overwhelming for people. They can be really weird and silly only if they're comfortable.
ISFJ: I don't know any ISFJs irl, but seeing ISFJ idols/celebrities, they're just usually nice and kind people. Quiet but do enjoy being with others.
ESFJ: Honestly think my other best friend may be one 🤔 I do think she has a high Fe for sure. They seem to care the most about their presentation and other's opinions of them.
ISTP: I've only met one and they were okay. Pretty chill and had immense "idgaf" energy. But that attitude was also what made them a bit unlikeable as it extended to having a disregard for feelings and morals. Nobody's perfect, but I don't think it's that difficult to have common human decency. I do like a few ISTP characters and celebrities though.
ESTP: One of my older siblings is one and we get along fine. She has a good eye for aesthetics. Her and other ESTPs I've seen don't really seem to be super serious people, they're just trying their best to enjoy life. Adventurous and open minded. Can't seem to stay still.
ISFP: Have only met a few irl and I've also typed several kpop idols as one. From what I've seen, they are a lot calmer compared to INFPs. They're quite passionate but more realistic individuals though, always going for what they want (likely due to aux Se). Also quite blunt lol but it does not top IxTP's honesty.
ESFP: Have not met any irl yet, but from observing an ESFP I follow and ESFP celebrities, I like their straightforwardness. Passionate and expressive. Funny.
