Nobody seems to be talking about the scene where Eudoria, Edith, and Enola beat up a bunch of cops in beautiful choreography to the soundtrack of the Hallelujah Chorus and I just really think that's a shame because I would happily watch that scene on repeat for the rest of my life.

obsessed with enola's perception of tewkesbury going from "messy ridiculous boy whom i have to bring along (affectionate)" to "dreamy noble man of progress whom i have to avoid (to hide my true feelings)"

Enola Holmes 2 has made me very happy. Absolutely enormous fun. Performances all fantastic, especially Brown’s (and Cavill’s curls were being glorious ;-) ). Funny and exciting and moving. Politically... going rather harder than mainstream films tend to go these days in some decent feminist and centre-left directions. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s nothing too radical at all by sensible standards, but given how dramatically the Overton window in the US and the UK has been shifting right (not least through some of what’s been coming out of Hollywood), having that storyline turn up in a fun historical adventure film? Nice. <3
Also: the resolution of the mystery is satisfying. If you’re paying attention you can spot some of the clues and work out some of what’s going on before it’s revealed onscreen and clearly as far as the creators are concerned that is okay. They’re far more interested in telling a compelling story than an exhaustively surprising one. So much more of this kind of thing.

enola holmes and tewksbury give me hope for future romance subplots in movies. they’re both individual characters, with individual goals and interests, but with a common fight. they’re equals. they protect each other. ALSO, the fact that they let him be the flustered one, the pining one: immaculate, amazing. the fact that the girl is the main character, and the guy is the one supporting her in her goals in genuinely not something i’ve seen a whole lot. also they both get to teach each other stuff, they match each other, they make each other better. he teaches her to dance and she teaches him to fight (both of those scenes were amazing by the way). they’re adorable, and sweet, and the perfect (if a bit cliche) execution of the Slightly Disgruntled Allies to lovers trope. i love them, 10/10, i have never before been so hyped for a main straight pairing
