Welcome back to the Ensemble Stars Valentine's Gift Exchange! After such a great response from our participants last year, we've decided to host a second one! This will be similar to the winter gift exchanges like Secret Santa, but centered around Valentine's. You'll read our rules, submit your application, and you'll have about a month to create a gift! We'll be following the same timeline as last year which is as follows:

Sign Up:  January 1st - January 10th 

Assignments will be sent out by January 14th!

Creation Time: January 14th - February 13th 

Posting Period: February 14th - February 21st 

Creation check in will be February 1st!

Communication for this event will be primarily over email so please make sure you provide one that you check frequently, as well as that our email, [email protected], is whitelisted and doesn't get marked as spam.

hiiro finds the best restaurants in the city where everyone knows him and likes him, especially old folks. his tales help pass time with considerable enjoyment, especially while making or eating food. his talk keeps good company to the sounds of your happy chewing. you don't have to feel pressurised about replying either. you can just concentrate on you food and he will shut up and do the same! eating properly is important.

"so what are we waiting for? let us go at once!"

"heh?" he begins a little startled but can't find the courage to refuse you, " yeah... right now would be fine."

he spends more time clicking pictures of the food and admiring the idols that he finds there. you always have to tell him to eat before he remembers about the food. then he eats just a little. he is too nervous and excited in the place to eat, not to mention the look of sheer ecstacy on your face that distracts him. he feels full just by seeing how much you are enjoying your food. it's too strange for words.

mayoi ayase

he loves to cook for you, especially when you mention that you love his food. it takes him by surprise, and he spends a good deal wondering if you're playing a prank on him. yes you eat his food with a huge smile on your face, and thank him every time. but really? do you really love his cooking. when he finally believes his ears, he almost floats to the kitchen in half a daze and half panic and returns with a dish you love. he doesn't dare tell you how he knows your taste, and you are too immersed in the food to wonder or question him. he instead sits down and tells you to dig in before it gets cold.

"you look so adorable while eating. your aura is so bright and beautiful that i want to keep you fed all the time. i am so glad my food can make you look so cheerful. e-eep! n-no, i didn't say anything. please continue eating. don't pay any mind to a burden like me!"

the way i was right, with barely any context from part one, that rei sakuma almost feels like he has a martyr complex. sometimes i think about that one time in the anime where he offers anzu to join undead or 2wink for protection.

i laughed at the time, but when everything was silent i wonder if he ever secretly blames himself for all the people dragged into whatever had happened. i wonder if his position as the somewhat leader of the eccentrics allowed him to put all the responsibility upon his shoulders, if the way he adopts people into his fold (and the way he offered to help trickstar) is some sort of way to cope, to ease the guilt

i remember wondering if rei sakuma was parentified. if the ache for validation through usefulness is there because he was the eldest, because his little brother is sick and he's a prodigy who acts like an adult far too old for his age—if the duty and the faults he possibly burdens himself with were there because he thought they were only his to bear.
