AU I made when I was REALLY fixated on Pokemon Violet where I just put everyone in the fucking academy as transfer or exchange students. Originally it was just the SuMo squad and I had some comics (unfinished) about it, interactions between everyone, ect! Then I got distracted and months later I pick up White 2 and well. Blight / Blur : Gym Guides

In Gen 5 canon, there's only one gym guide throughout each of the gyms, named Clyde, who gives you a bottle of Fresh Water upon entering/upon interacting with him.

In Blur/Blight, however, Clyde is specifically the gym guide in Burgh's gym. In BW, he was the guide for Burgh's gym as he had a taste for his art- in BW2, however, he becomes the gym guide for Cheren's gym!

There are different gym guides for each gym leader, and they have their own partner Pokemon;

Striaton - Waitress Tia (Patrat)

Nacrene - Scientist Satomi (Herdier)

Castelia - Gentleman Clyde (Deerling) / Harlequin Jack (Swadloon)

Nimbasa - Lady Colette (Flaafy)

Driftveil - Clerk Katie (Drilbur)

Mistralton - Pilot Chase (Unfezant)

Icirrus - Black Belt Thomas (Cubchoo)

Opelucid - Veteran Kim (Fraxure) / Veteran Ron (Fraxure)

Aspertia - Gentleman Clyde (Sawsbuck)

Virbank - Guitarist Billy Jo (Koffing)

Humilau - Ace Trainer Santino (Walrein)

Clyde's trainer class is a Gentleman, he's just dressed differently!

All the other gym guides in Blur/Blight are existing NPCs in the games! Some of them are npcs in only one of the games, while some are npcs in both, but unless specified, they're the gym guides in both BW and BW2! (Harlequin Jack and Pilot Chase are in both BW/BW2 for example, but Clerk Katie is only in BW!)

you have the "prince / servant" dynamic that initially causes friction bc of the power imbalance and clashing personalities, but that eventually turns into a more equal partnership built up from a foundation of mutual love and trust. very classic mutual annoyances (derogatory) to mutual annoyances (affectionate)

you have the "servant" character who is absolutely dogshit at his job but somehow keeps it anyway bc of political secret stuff, who introduces much needed fun and chaos and spontaneity into the prince's life, who is the emotional core of the series but who is forced to become more ruthless and jaded over the course of the seires

you have the "prince" character who initially comes off as kind of a bossy asshole but is actually very kindhearted at his core despite how much he tries to hide it. he fiercely loves and protects the people close to him, including his "employees", and clashes with his father over ideology and methods. he's also secretly a dork.

you have destiny working to bring these two together again and again, the constantly fluid roles of protector/protectee, the colorful cast of "knights", the conniving evil "cousin", even the favored weapon that may or may not be the source of more than a handful of innuendos (sword... gun... kind of the same thing tbh)

the more i think about it, the more Arthurian KinnPorsche starts to feel. you are so right — it does sort of exist in a modern fantasy world where all the kings and knights and such have been repainted as mobsters. it's not following any specific arthurian tale of course but it absolutely has the vibes and the archetypes. shit, now i really want an AU. i literally took Arthurian lit in college so my brain is just in complete overdrive rn
