Eliza and P.I. Edward Nygma

As their relationship grows, they start going on little outings outside of the occasional case he takes her on. Like to a museum or a walk in the park. Edward usually makes snide comments on the people and Eliza asks Edward about Gotham (seeing as she’s not from there). Eliza is sure he would never admit it, but she thinks Edward enjoys her company. And while he can be a pain, she enjoys his too.

🍜 S O U P (Again, up to you which gremlin child receives the life giving flavour water)

[Both children shall receive the S O U P]

Edward was going to kill himself at this rate, Eliza thought as she climbed the stairs of the building. She had gotten a call the other day from him and he just sounded awful. Luckily, she had made some chicken soup for dinner and decided that was just what he needed. She reached his office and knocked. A muffled “Come in” could be heard and she opened the door.

He was laying on the couch and looked quite pitiful (though she was unsure if this was genuine or for her benefit). “Come to visit me on my deathbed, Eliza?” he croaked. She gave a slight sigh, “You’re not dying. Here, I brought you something.” He raised his head and looked at the container in her hands. “You actually brought me soup?” She set the container down on his desk and pulled a bowl and spoon from her bag. “Yes, and I’m not leaving until you’ve eaten it.” Edward gave a small smile and sat up. “Well, if you insist.”

Vicki had only been over for a few minutes when Eliza heard the sniffle. She whipped her head around to look at the source. Vicki was sitting at her kitchen table, trying to look a innocent as possible. “Vicki,” said Eliza, “Are you sick?”

“No idea what you’re talking about.” she said while trying to conceal a cough. “You’re starting to sound like Edward, I’m making you some soup this instant.” Eliza got to work on the soup, ignoring the excuses being made by Vicki in the background. After a little while the small home was full of the wonderful scent of chicken soup. Eliza ladled some into a bowl and placed it in front of her friend. “Eat.” she said. Vicki looked at it for a moment and sighed. “Thank you, Eliza.” Eliza got herself a bowl and sat down. “You’re welcome. Now hurry before it gets cold.”

So, about yesterday.

I met with Mr. Nygma and Ms. Vale as planed. We started talking about the case and when i mentioned Arkham Mr. Nygma was going to leave then and there. But I begged them to hear me out and to let me prove I wasn’t like the people I work with. I’m sad to say I had to bring out the big guns and show some of the photos Dr. Quinzel had given me. But my speech and the photos had seemed to convince him to take my case.  

We decided it was best to investigate the scene of the crime that day. While driving we talked about the details of the case and when I mentioned that Mr. Scarlet was incarcerated, Mr. Nygma came to the conclusion that it was him. I was insistent that it was not. When I was pressed further I was…forced to reveal my feelings for Mr. Scarlet. That was met with what I believe was shock by Mr. Nygma and a good-natured disappointment by Ms. Vale.  

Ms. Vale asked me if there could be a possibility that there was someone who had it out for me, not the books. That got me thinking. There was only one person (that I know of) that could have it out for me, Lyle Bolton.  

It made sense, Bolton was upset I had rejected him and wanted to make it look like Mr. Sca-Adam stole the books. We got to the library (and may I say it was quite a sight to see Edward Nygma scramble through a window), he set to work to find proof of Bolton taking the books. I did have a nice conversation with Ms. Vale while Mr. Nygma was searching through Boltons search history. But we were able to get some evidence. I did have a run in with Bolton where he was gloating that he was going to check Adam’s cell for contraband. When he left we knew we had to go there and confront him.  

We were able to get to Adam’s cell just as Bolton was being his “search”. Bolton wasn’t too pleased to be called out and Mr. Nygma confronted him with the evidence. Bolton had begun to move toward me but Adam stepped in front of him to try and protect me. He…he hit Adam. I started screaming at him and, to my surprise, Mr. Nygma offered me his cane so I could administer a proper beat-down on Bolton (he is a rather wonderful man once you get past the prickly part).  

So to make a (very) long story short. Bolton is on indefinite leave and will most likely be fired! Poor Adam is in the infirmary. I’ll be visiting him tomorrow, I…think I need to have a talk with him.  

I also have some cakes to bake!

Alright, here is the letter I’m sending him.

Dear Mr. Nygma,  

I hope this letter finds you well. I seem to have found myself in quite the predicament. You see, some rare books under my care have been stolen. Not borrowed and never returned mind you, stolen. I would like to hire you to help me find them. If I don’t have them back soon, I could lose my job.  

With that being said, I would like to invite you and Ms. Vale over for tea this Sunday where we can talk about the details of the case. If you choose to take the case, please send me a letter back with confirmation.
