Sunaeth, in her wolf princess fairy robes. You’re not hallucinating, the original post is here.
32. The Lost Journals (chapter 1 - Opal Mountain 1/6 ) part 8. Stories of Dreams.
no warnings
Sunaeth went to the Howling Peaks after graduation. Her father was the previous Wolf King, but now her big brother Eobreth held that title. Her Mother was now a widowed mage, guarding the mystic tundra of North Moon. But Sunaeth and her twin little siblings, still remembered being half magic. For Sunaeth was fey once. A princess. But mostly a wolf. When her father was murdered, she became a full human mage like her mother. Yet, Sunaeth couldn’t let go of being a white wolf. Eventually, she accepted fate, and decided to take her wise mother’s advice; All mages need an enchanted thicket to balance. Sunaeth arrived in the Howling Peak reserve, in the Far North, by train.
The fey and nature reserve, was a tourist town, and was full of fey atop it’s glaciered mountains. Here, beneath the dancing lights, were wonders seen nowhere else. Sunaeth was eagerly greeted at the wizardry office; They needed a Seer scouting the mountain for fey poachers. The paladins were having trouble catching them. There was a lot of hunting in the area, and every part of the animal was traditionally used; But the fey were sentient, and off limits. Sunaeth was shown the trails, but her Wolf Kingdom heritage made her senses keen enough to learn the landscape quickly. As the sun barely set, an ominous single mountain glimmered.
“That’s the opal mountain; It is said that long ago, an exploring mage had transmuted it into crystal. Thus, it contains the moon and stars. It is said the gate that allows magic to live, lies within. Mother said if a wolf-mage howled light before it, under the moon, it may crystalize and reveal it’s treasures.” The paladin pointed.
“We don’t talk about magery. Old magic is too powerful. Besides, such tales are invented for children.” The Sorcerer scoffed.
“Well, I’m a mage; As are my twin siblings Aowreth and Bexfineth. Yet, you’ve hired me.” Sunaeth laughed, heading down the trail. Her white robes made he blend into the wet snow. The two wizards looked at each other nervously.
“I mean, it’s forbidden for wizards. Yes. It’s ok for you Sister Wolf.” The sorcerer panicked. Sunaeth giggled: Sister Wolf? And I thought going by my fey name was silly. As night came, the group stood at the face of the mountain’s Northern wall. Snow gently floating about the rocks.
“So, you’re telling me, if I charm a song of nigh at this sucker, the frequency will cause the mountain to turn into crystal? And there’ll be loot in there?” Sunaeth grinned at her companions. They shrank. Having little cares, Sunaeth filled her chest with air, and held her hands to her mouth. With the feeling of witnessing the infinite stars, she howled with the echo of glass, and gravity of thunder. A gentle rumble caused some snow to fall off a branch. With a shrug, Sunaeth turned back to the cowering wizards, to show nothing happened.
“Cower at the results of my epic magery!” she said, rolling her eyes. The Paladin pointed.
“Are those books?” She gasped, running over to press her face against the labradorite wall. Sunaeth turned to see the mountain glow of selenite, diamond, flint, feldspar, and opal. She covered her mouth, fearing what her mother would do if she heard about this. It made the white fur of her beaded fairy robes stand up. Looking over the Sorcerer’s shoulder, Sunaeth saw stacks of books, and a glowing gate behind the crystal. The plum seal bound biographies, had runes of gold on them. A cliff up, was a carved door, with ice totem poles marking it.
“Does this imply the mythic treasure was just paragraphs of wingdings?” The Sorcerer mused.
“You studied abroad Sister Wolf; Do you know what type of books those are?” The Paladin asked excitedly.
“Yeah. Um, there Mage journals by the runes. The King Mage graduated, and studies them obsessively. Morgan is a  aster restorer and translator. He’s family to my big brother, but just another classmate to me.”
“Can you read the name on their spines?”
“One second,” Sunaeth said crouching. The crystal was remarkably clear. “Edmond and Luthid Monabellan. Huh. Feel like I’ve heard those names before.” She concluded.
“The Wolf Prince of The North? The Mage who gave up magic to be our last king?! Those are historical artifacts! We must save them immediately! Maybe that fellow you mentioned can help?” The Sorcerer cooed. Then a deep grumble came from the air; Sunaeth glared at them like a dog eager to bite. The urge to shred the books burned within her. Edmond had given up magic for a good reason; Mages aren’t meant for war. The legendary prince had once forced her older brother, Eobreth, to taste blood against his will. That man, though housed by her father, was no legendary hero. Sunaeth would gladly send those books anywhere but her doorstep.

Sunaeth, in makeshift fairy robes.
Tale 0: Death at the Wolf Gate (chapter 3. Sunaeth, Eaowaeth, & Behxfineth 3/4) part 2. Stories of Fey
none
Sunaeth was the eldest remaining daughter of the wolf kingdom. She loved to hunt in the shadow veil, and bring carrion to the griminthrope raven princes, in the death tree; just to tease her younger siblings by showing how close she could get. When Sunaeth ran through the veils, she was unmistakable; for her coat was as white and bright as her mothers. Unlike Eobreth, she did not admire the day veil and humanity. She preferred to be one with magic, and a strong Aliki Wolf protecting and teaching her siblings. The vibrance of the day veil was dandy and all, but it was scary; so many Aliki Wolves had been forced into war or hunted for fur. Sunaeth had even witnessed one of her sisters die protecting her as a wandering pup. To be a wolf running freely, in the magic ether of Ealden Cynedom, was all she wanted. She wanted to be free of judgment, hate, expectations, and rules. Sunaeth liked running on fours, hearing, seeing and smelling everything in detail, and possessing the strength of a powerful warrior. She could not imagine being anything other then a great white wolf. Staying in the shadow veil with her family, made her a good caretaker and big sister to all the fey, and kept her safe. By the time she was fully grown, she was only middle child Flowen had left. If Eobreth had inherited Flowen’s love of humanity and the day veil, Sunaeth had inherited her free spirit and caring.
Sunaeth mainly cared for the youngest Aliki Wolves; the twelve-year-old twins. Flowen had more then one puppy on a few occasions. Most Aliki Wolves lived longer than most men, and in fact did not die until killed. but Flowen accepted she would always outlive her children, as a beast queen. It made them even more precious to her. It also made Flowen happy to see Sunaeth each day, caring for her family with youthful energy. Sunaeth, also had the qualaties Flowen loved most in her husband. The Wolf King had that same childlike way about him, and a stupid amount of loyalty, courage, and an undying love for his family. Suna, alongside her father, taught her younger royal siblings to hunt, play, act around humans, and transform into human form. While Suna was a wolf whiter than sunlight, the twins Eaowaeth and Behxfineth, were grey and chestnut respectively. In human form, their hair and wolf kingdom robes were the colour of their pelts; adorned with gilded steel armor about their heads, collars, back and breast. Engraved with the symbol ‘Ing’ for the rune of the wolf kingdom. Their human faces were like that of their mother’s people, in the Far North. Out of all the wolf children, Sunaeth was the Aliki wolf who spent the most time in human form. She did it to see and appreciate her human half, which her mother gave her.  Even though she spent time in a human form, Suna still loved being a wolf most of all. Thus, when she arrived to the scene of her father’s death, unable to turn into a wolf, she was destroyed. As if her father’s death wasn’t bad enough.
Suna had lost her father and identity at the same time. Even her lovely royal robes and armor had gone; leaving her cold, bare, and completely human. She appeared no more then a normal young lady of the Far North. All that remained of her former self was her hair; which was still white like her fur. It scared her to be vulnerable in the day veil. Sunaeth did not want to accept she was a murderous human, and her father was dead. Sunaeth would not let go of the fact she once was a princess of the wolf kingdom. She did not want to admit she was no longer strong, keen and skilled.  ‘I am not a human mage like mother says, I am not going to be restrained to the day veil, I will not give in. I am not weak.’ Sunaeth thought to herself, sobbing and grasping her remaining two siblings. Only the twins accepted their humanness while grieving their father; they coped by helping their mother Flowen restore the gate and live in the village. It had been two long sad days, before the Fairy King came with wolf kingdom fairy robes to protect the new mages. They needed new armor, now that they were no longer powerful fey. The Fairy King said nothing, while delivering the gifts. though she likely also grieved her brother, and did not know what else to do. Faries, and fey, are not the best at offering emotional support to humans. Sunaeth  graciously accepted, but she didn’t want fairy robes: she wanted her fur coat.
Flowen had little free time left after opening and restoring the Wolf Gate. The silver was now completely chipped off, leaving behind the polished soap stone it was originally made of. The rest of the time, Flowen was caring for Eaowa and Behxfin, because they were her youngest remaining children. Caring for them, and the magic forest, gave her life meaning. Eaowaeth was easy to care for; they wanted to be a warlock, and had a calm and curious nature. Behxfineth was also only a slight hassle; he was picky about everything, and wanted to be a witch by apprenticing his mother. There was no local magic school, so the village and forest helped teach the two former wolf children. Flown considered sending them to the same school as King Mage Morgan, near Tiberius Gate; but she wanted Eaowa and Behxfin to adjust to being human first, and prove they could cope with the loss of their father. They were still quite young. For now, North Moon would have to do.
Like many magic forests, those who chose to live here, were happy to have magic in their lives every day. Especially now that Flowen solved their qualms with the fey. Then there was Sanueth; Flowen’s personal nightmare. She was not serene like the common folk, nor becoming adjusted like Eaowa and Behxfin. Sunaeth would have been a good paladin, or seer, if she took the time to accept her new reality. Every time Flowen asked Suna to do something for their cottage, Sunaeth did it the wolf way. Flowen would ask for Suna to fetch something for dinner; Sunaeth would return in an hour, naked, covered in blood, carrying four rabbits she caught; with three in her bare hands, and one in her mouth. Then Sunaeth would rant about how the forest was doing, while uncouth in the cold. She had no focus, and was determined to remain an Aliki Wolf. In the past, Flowen would have been endeared, but this time horror overcame her existence.
“Suna. You’re going to get sick eating that raw! You’re not a wolf! And you’ll catch a cold without clothing! You can’t keep acting inappropriately like this. There is no problem with you wanting to pursue magery; aside from modern discrimination towards old magic in most places… But you can’t live a normal life in the day veil, by acting like a literal animal. I know it’s hard, but you can talk to me; I am only interested in what is best for you and your happiness. I don’t know what to do anymore. I heard the other day you bit men who were trying to help you cut firewood!” Flowen exclaimed in distress.
“But mother, I got us dinner! And I will not be wearing uncomfortable clothes, thank you. Neither am I using complicated tools when I don’t need them. Humans are soft little pigs, who are violent and touchy; I refuse to be like one. I am still a princess of the wolf kingdom; even if father is dead, and I am no longer fey.” Sunaeth growled.
“I understand this is a big change for you. You were never one for rules, or liked the day veil. But fey or not, you were always part human; and thus, a part of me and the day veil. It brings me shame when you do thing’s like this. Now go take a hot bath while I cook dinner. I trust you’ve learned enough magic here to alchemize water and heat?” Flowen scolded. Sunaeth looked away from her mother while entering the cabin. Eaowa and Behxfin sat at the table, reading magic text books and mage journals. They shrunk into their seats from the tone of their mother’s voice. But decided to tattle nonetheless.
“Na, mother. Sunaeth does housework all day; she hasn’t attended a single demonstration, or read one of these books.” Eaowaeth said. Suna grumbled as she grabbed a level one alchemy book from Behxifn, and headed to the bathroom. Fifteen minutes later, Flowen heard Sunaeth call for Eaowa to help her start the bath. Flowen gave a big sigh as she stood over the boiling pot of rabbit stew. Hopeful, Flowen looked out the window and into the brush for another wolf child. Anything to know Eobreth was ok. Or at least, doing better then her and Suna. Flowen wanted to focus on anything that wasn’t her feral eldest daughter. Then Flowen had a thought: ‘sunaeth isn’t legally fully grown yet, she would be considered seventeen by human standards. She is still young enough for magic school... Maybe this village is too lenient for her.’
After dinner, Flowen took Sunaeth aside to clean the dishes. Sunaeth loathed this chore; she hated wet hands. Flowen looked out the window in a daze while she dried. There was a thin coating of old snow on everything, giving it a soft glow.
“A few weeks ago, I saw a grim in those trees. If there are new wolf children, that means there is a Wolf King. Are you happy for your older brother Eobreth? In your uncouth hunting games about North Moon, have you seen other wolf children?” Flowen asked
“Yes mother.” Sunaeth said despondently. She had gotten along well with Eobreth when she visited him in the day veil years ago, but they were never close. A centuries long age gap will do that to siblings.
“Do you remember Morgan? The King Mage who I would heal and snuggle? Morgan would hunt and rough house with the three of you; and Eobreth had a great liking for him,” Flowen smiled, rinsing a dish. “He was a young boy, and said he wanted to go to magic school; and he had his dream come true. A special school by Tiberius Gate, for troubled youth, and international students. It pained me to see Morgan hurt himself, or come to me with injuries from his family when I first met him. Yet, when he went to that school, and opened the gate, he found friends and seemed to be more adjusted.” Flowen said. She was now feeling a little uplifted recalling those fond memories. However, Flowen had an agenda.
“Yes mother, I remember him. He was a blast! Didn’t realize he was just a kid; probably because I was a fey, and age means nothing to us. Morgan felt more like an uncle then a human child. And now I’m sad, because that makes me think of the shadow veil and father,” Sunaeth whined. “and Eobreth, he must have a special lady. Wonder if her family misses her… like I miss my old life. She must miss her old life too.”
“Well, you’re in luck Suna! How would you, in proper dress, like to go through the shadow veil to Tiberius Gate, and attend school with Morgan? Tell that family were their daughter went, learn to alchemize water, and socialize with humans your age! Make friends, and find new good in your future. You’re human now; which means you will age, and need those connections for your wellbeing. You get to go to the shadow veil on your free time, and I will rest easy knowing you’re getting reformed into a civilized capable lady.” Flowen said. She had already made the arrangements for a dorm room and classes; Though it did take a while for Eaowa to show her how to use a computer. It was worth the pain of experiencing dial up internet. Flowen had even packed Sunaeth’s things to leave the next day. Sunaeth, finished the last dish, pulled the drain plug, and stormed into bathroom to get away. It was the only door in the cabin with a lock. Sunaeth could not say no to her family. Particularly not her mother. Flowen was not asking however, she was informing Suna of her plans, and Suna had no choice in the matter. Suna proceeded to take off her uncomfortable clothes, grabed a towel, and then scream into it for a thirty-minute breakdown. She was freezing; the bathroom was right next to the cold room.

Wolf Queen Flowen Monabellan; in fairy robes.
Tale 0: Death at the Wolf Gate (chapter 2. Flowen & Luthid 2/4) part 2. Stories of Fey
none
Flowen Monabellan was the previous Wolf Queen; One of the first beast Queens in fact. Hundreds of years ago, after opening the Wolf Gate she made, by her village, she had met a wolf more bewildering than imagination. Flowen lived in the small alpine village in the Far North, surrounded by snowy hills and rocky flats. Ice and snow sheets remained here most of the year, and there was almost no sun in the winter; yet the sun visited all day in the summer. This village was called North Moon by the people of The Far North. North Moon was the Far North’s north most settlement, and a magical forest hosting a variety of hidden fey. The number of fey had increased since Flowen made the Wolf Gate; and North Moon soon got a mythical reputation. This was because gates are the doors to the shadow veil, allowing fey to enter the day veil where humans live. Where there is a gate, there is a magic forest.
Though colloquially an area that has lots of fey, and magic users, is called a magic forest, this one did not have many trees. The wonders of North Moon appeared the brightest out in the open, during winter nights. With her village in need of balance between magic and common folk, Flowen became a witch mage; and thus, the only magic user in the area. As such, she would protect the village, and its peace, with her life and kindness. When not among commoners in the day, Flowen would be running and singing in the snow all night. She when she hunted, it was along the slopes and flats, with the wolf children of her magic forest. Eventually the wolf fey would tell there father about their new friend, and he decided to visit Flowen; A king never fails to disappoint. When Flowen first met the Wolf King, her breath was taken. There was no pelt more beautiful, nor wolf as immeasurable; and when he turned into human form, Flowen had never seen a man as tall, well dressed, and reverent. The Wolf King had come when he sensed an open gate in his kingdom, and was further intrigued by his children’s tales of the day veil. Wandering into the day veil for the first time, the Wolf King was pleasantly surprised to see a human that gave him love at first sight. To see a grown woman of the Far North, dressed in wolf fairy robes of pale gray fur, that matched her braided hair and moon lit eyes. The Wolf King would take Flowen as his Queen, if she would have him as a loving husband. In that moment, it was like they had known each other all their lives.
Flowen was the kindest and most motherly of the fey queens. In beast form, she was a large white wolf with grey eyes. She provided her kingdom with many Aliki puppies over the centuries, which all grew strong. Many were killed by humans who feared them, or died in war and on hunts; but her eldest son, Eobreth, always survived. Even while he roamed the day veil, and seeing war. Flowen seldom saw Eobreth, as he never came back home after the wars; but the reason why he didn’t return is what mattered. Eobreth was happy, and doing what he loved, by making the world of magic in the day veil, a little better. It made Flowen proud to see one of her children love where she came from; A child with the strength of his father, and sweetness of his mother. Flowen saw herself in her eldest son, all the parts of her that loved, and cared for everything and everyone around her.
Flowen awoke on the Wolf Gate, after centuries of being Wolf Queen in the shadow veil. She noticed she was perfectly human again. Flowen saw the gold glittering dust blow away; her husbands ashes returning to the veil. She lay on the cold gate, going dark while she was consumed by magic and emotion, while crying for her lost children and soul mate. Flowen felt them die in her soul, and the magic her husband gave her leave her body. It hurt worse than fire, cut glass, or shattered bones. Then she noticed her surroundings; Her beautiful Wolf Gate, made with love for her kingdom, was coated in silver. Sunaeth, the eldest princess, lay with the twins off to the side, not far from her. Their fur wolf robes and gilded armor were gone. Flowen’s remaining children were no longer Aliki Wolves, but human mages like her. Examining her suroundings further, Noticed there was a girl dressed in violet and black fur on the steps of the gate; sobbing. At her feet, was a man in fake fairy robes, made of sealskin. He was laying dead in a pool of blood. The girl looked up at Flowen, crying in fear and grief.
“I’m sorry. it wasn’t me,” She whimpered. “My name is Luthid Graywolf. I tried to stop my father, but I wasn’t fast enough. Let me take you to my cabin in the village. Those children by the gate must be yours: Wolf Queen Flowen Monabellan. I am relieved some of them survived; though it appears they are human like us. My father’s actions towards magic were deplorable, and I will do anything to help you heal. Forgive me for grieving him nonetheless. He was still my father.” Luthid said.
The wolf gate had been coated in silver; the weakness of the wolf kingdom. Like Iron to ferries, this metal was sharp to the touch among carnivoran fey. Generations without a mage caused the gate to remain closed, and the fey became frustrated and began to eat the livestock. The world of magic began to encroach on North Moon; which was no longer connected to magic and nature like it was when Flowen was last here. As lead paladin, Luthid’s father demanded the gate be coated with silver to stop the influx of wolf children, and so he could summon the Wolf King of legends. He did not care that the Wolf Gate was closed and not the source of the fey anymore. All the fey that remained in North Moon’s magic forest, had been here since the gate as last open. He had gotten the idea from tales that are sung and shared in the Far North; and in North Moon, these were tales of ancient times, which recounted the kingdoms of fey. He had assumed if the Wolf King was summoned through an opened gate of silver, the king would die. No Wolf King, no wolf children; and thus, no feline or canine fey eating his people’s livestock and pets.
In truth, the fey could be reasoned with; or even help people if a knowable mage or magic user was present. But instead of negotiations, Luthid’s father sent her to gather information about the mysterious stone circle platform, which was carved with the table of fours and ancient runes. He assumed this must be the gate. Luthid, desperate to appease her aggressive father, and be the next witch, found information by traveling into the closest city. When wizardry could not give her answers, Luthid studied the magic of mages. Luthid recounted the songs her mother sang about magic, and the tales of Aliki Wolves. To her surprise, there were many accounts of the mage prince of the Far North, Edmond Monabellan, who summoned wolf fey to defend the boarders, and conquer greener lands. A paladin destined to be the last king, and bring peace to The Far North. Luthid had no idea how connected the wolf kingdom was to her heritage. The thought of destroying such a rich connection to fey made her sad. The wolf fey and winter magic had been used to kill against its neutral nature by men before; the fey had forgiven humans, yet the people of her nation sought to kill them. Could fey even forgive? She wondered. Luthid felt that North Moon, and all the Far North, was reaping what it sewed. If you can’t treat something with care, you won’t have it anymore.
Luthid did not share everything she learned with her father. For instance, Luthid never mentioned that kingdom stones were made, and thus no one could summon fey except the King Mage. Her father planed on summoning not just a fey, but their King. No one, not even a mages, had ever summoned a beast king. Possibly someone requested the presence of a king of fey, when trapped and blackmailed; but not summoned. Luthid was now invested in preserving the magic forest she called home, and wanted her father to fail for his own safety. The lessons of magery and lore taught her how to handle and love fey; her father’s plan was over the top, and unnecessary. Further, Luthid did tell her father how to open a gate, and that wizards were not powerful enough to open gates or summon fey in the first place. She knew fey were sentient, and did not deserve death for coming closer to the village. Worse yet, if her father did not die trying to summon, the Wolf King may finish him off. Luthid had no doubt the Wolf Kingdom had ill will towards the Far North, after they were forced to be tools in the wars of old.
By the time Luthid arrived at the Wolf Gate to stop her father, he and the Wolf King were both dead. Luthid recognized who else was there, because of all the hours of work she had done in the libraries. She stood before the Wolf Queen, of whome she had read of, mourning her family. Luthid was overcome by guilt. She should have come sooner, or tried to encouraged friendship between North Moon and it’s fey. Luthid expected Flowen to be mad or vengeful, but this was not the case. Flowen saw little point in dwelling in the past, and took her position back as local witch mage. Luthid would dare not strive for the position anymore. Flowen’s first order was to have the gate restored, and the silver taken off. Then, she took Luthid with her to come to an understanding between the locals and the magic forest. But there were not many fey left; all the wolf children, who made up most of the magic in North Moon, died with their father. Flowen stayed strong to keep being a mother for her remaining children. But inside, she grieved an unsurmountable amount of pain and loss.
Because of Flowen’s work, the village realized that if they had a mage here sooner, the wolf kingdom and people could have been saved from so much tragedy. Every day, Flowen wondered what happened to her eldest child Eobreth; Sunaeth and her twins were alive by her side, but not him. All half human royal fey survive the death of a fey king, by turning fully human like the queen. Or, if they find love, become the new king. Eobreth must be alive somewhere. Flowen needed answers now, to get closure. She wondered many things while chipping silver off the gate:‘Where was Eobreth?’, ‘is he alive, and human?’, ‘does he feel the same pain and loss of his kin?’’, ‘what if he found a true love, and I never knew?’’ She mused. One mourning, as Flowen was taming the sled dogs, she looked to the forest’s edge and saw something familiar. A black wolf, a grim, trotting back into the brush. It was a wolf fey. New wolf children meant only one thing: Her son was alive, king, and she had new grandchildren. Flowen began to feel warmth again. Then she saw her eldest princess Sunaeth come out of the brush…

Eldest Wolf Prince Eobreth in fey form; Remember that horse sized armored gray wolf Morgan befriended, that was only mentioned in passing?
Tale 0: Death at the Wolf Gate (chapter 1. Prince Eobreth and Scorpio 1/4) part 2. Stories of Fey
none
Eobreth Was Morgan’s First fey friend. He was a Aliki Wolf; the royal fey of the Wolf Kingdom. The wolf kingdom, or more the Wolf King, is the source and incarnation of filiform and coniform fey, and all sound and night spells. The children he has with his Queen Flowen, are the Aliki Wolves, which are grey wolves big enough to ride, with silver and gold armor. They are proud warriors, great hunters, and dangerous nobles. Royal wolves were famously summoned in the times of old, by kings blackmailing mages for advantages in war. Aliki Wolves had a reputation among humans, for being dangerous. Eobreth and Morgan knew about the tarnished image of wolf children; yet inside, neither of them cared. Face to Face with such a beast, Morgan did not flinch before Eobreth, but instead his eyes sparked in awe. This respect from a human is something Eobreth seeked, and thus he decided to join Morgan on quests; that led to Morgan becoming King Mage. Eobreth even lived on Tiberius Gate with Morgan, and met all of his friends. He was the oldest thing on the gate; for Eobreth was the first born Aliki Wolf. Therefore, he was wise, brave, and warm. Even to men who made him fight battles against his will, Eobreth showed compassion and love. He was a treasure beloved by all other fey.
Eobreth both hated and loved men. He was the one who convinced the beast kings to make the kingdom stones; because it would mean there would be a King Mage. The King Mage would be the only human capable of calling any fey to their side. If no other magic using human could control fey, Eobreth would no longer be summoned and controlled by the prince of the Far North. King’s were all born into magic houses, and had a court mage by blood or contract. Magic was an asset in a time of political unease. Mages were used to control fey, and forced to wield magic for harm; against their peaceful and unbiased natures. Eobreth could still hear the cries of war, and the vile taste of human blood against his will. As a fey he does not desire to kill, cannot hate, and thus has no malice. Additionally, Eobreth was half human like all royal fey. He had a moral compass and empathy to know these humans did not want to be violent, and had loved ones at home. Just like him. Eobreth wondered what made them want to kill, and what caused men to murder. Eobreth watched mages die summoning him. Mages who were or could have been, his friends.
Summoning fey requires so much magic, it could kill even powerful mages by destroying their bodies as they went dark; and the magic going through them, consumed them. When Eobreth was finally free, and the kingdom stones were made, he remained in the day veil. Eobreth’s empathy made him see the good in the kingdoms of men. He decided he wanted to be around it. Like humans, Eobreth loved the colour, beauty, and compassion that was in the world. He chose not to return to the shadow veil, for he loved the good in humanity too much. Eobreth became a retired war veteran; quietly watching the world and enjoying its peace, as a sigh of relief, after years of traumatic events. This is why Eobreth was in a forested public park when he met Morgan. Eobreth came to the park to watch people hike and play. Humanity at it’s most innocent and happy. It made Eobreth want to start a family, fall in love, and live with humans without fear of execution. He was fully aware both his beast and human forms would terrify to the point of violence. Aliki Wolves are bigger than horses, stronger then bears, having teeth and jaws that crush, and clad in armour. Even if they were noble and honourable, Royal Wolves could insight primal fear upon first glance. This is why Eobreth was warmed, to find even one human, one mage, who didn’t see him as a tool or a monster; but as someone with a heart. Morgan gave Eobreth the greatest honour for a wolf child: Morgan said Eobreth was a heroic, brave, and reliable friend.
Eobreth didn’t pay attention to Morgan’s school friends, when they visited Tiberius Gate, until he saw Scorpio Knightheart. A girl housed in the monkey kingdom, who was a new found warlock mage. Her hair and eyes were red as carnelian, and matched her fairy robes. A sign she had gone dark in her youth, which is more common in mages. Scorpio wore her wavy hair up in pigtails, and yelled everything she said. This was common, as she was easily angered and an extremely passionate person. Eobreth found this breath taking for some reason. He could find no other answer then that she must be the mage of his dreams. Eobreth had become infatuated and enchanted by everything about Scorpio; from her walk, to her laughter. He knew she was on the gate by scent alone, as she smelled enchantingly like cinnamon and cut pine. To the small club of young mages, Scorpio was just a side character. She literally the baker’s daughter. Yet Scorpio made Eobreth feel what he thought he never would; romantic interest.
Unlike other fey emersed in infatuation, Eobreth was too noble and shy to stare at, or speak to Scorpio. Instead, he brought her things like a puppy with tail wagging, and acted like a gentleman towards her. Whenever Eobreth did, Scorpio had the special honour of seeing him in human form. Eobreth preferred to be in his true fey form, as a giant wolf, thus no other human, including Morgan, had ever seen his human half. Eobreth looked like a prince in this form; a handsome young man, but with grey hair and scruff. He was well built, and was adorned in wolf kingdom robes of thick fur and armor. To Scorpio, Eobreth was now both a radiant prince and a cute husky. Scorpio gave in, after months of special attention from Eobreth. He approached her at school, in town, and on Tiberius Gate. Mages fall in love so easily, like all love is an inescapable and instant spell. Scorpio Requited his love, and decided to kiss Eobreth one winter’s noon. And then something unexpected happened; Instead of just getting anklets, from casting the true love’s spell, they transformed. Scorpio’s hair went white, her clothes turned into a white fur coat with hood and crown, and fur boots laced in white buckskin. Eobreth was taller, his armor thicker, and his furs embroidered. They had become Wolf King and Queen; the positions supposedly held by Eobreth’s father and mother.
Eobreth’s father, and his carnavora fey little siblings, vanished from all if Ealden Cynedom. He felt it in his core. After centuries, Eobreth was forced finally returned home to the shadow veil, and searched for any sign of his human family. His mother, and the young royal twins, may have turned into human mages. For his search, Eobreth brought Scorpio along, wanting to keep her safe by his side; her love was to precious to part from in his time of fear. But after searching with the strongest of senses and hunting skills in the veils, Eobreth found the wolf kingdom was completely empty. Eobreth, confused and sad, took his beloved father’s seat upon the rocks of the Wolf Kingdom’s throne. Scorpio was not to leave his side for now. Eobreth warned that she could be hurt by men, and he needed her help rebuild his kingdom, and care for the new fey. He would not let his only queen, and saviour of the new Wolf Kingdom, die at the hands of humans before a single Aliki Wolf pup was born. Scorpio agreed, but not just for her love of magic, but because she did not want to see Eobreth alone and broken. Scorpio was but a fifteen-year-old girl, who had disappeared with all the fey of the Wolf Kingdom. Centuries ago, this had also happened to Raven Queen Odette, who was a princess of the Grand West that disappeared at the age of twelve. However, no matter the age, a missing person in a world of magic is cause for concern. Even if they are safely loved in the hands of magic itself.
But the consaquences of the dissapearence of the wolf kingdom didn’t just effect Eobreth and Scorpio. Firstly, was Amadeus Rosethorn, Morgan and Scorpio’s friend. He was brought to Eobreth, in the shadow veil, before the day had ended. Amadeus was the one who introduced Scorpio to Morgan and the Gate, and thus magery and Eobreth. When Morgan and Amadeus came to Eobreth’s new throne, Scorpio hid in the secret den; curled up in worry. Amadeus had been enfayed by the previous Wolf King, Eobreth’s father. The fey inside Amadeus was a moon serval that agreed to give Amadeus it’s magic, if he promised to protect the ones he loved. Lending the power to become a superb mage paladin. Which was Amadeus’s life goal. Unknown to Amadeus at the time, moon servals are frosty white with midnight markings, and shimmer in the moon as they guard sleeping travelers.  The perfect aid for Amidase’s life passion, as a quest companion. This is how Wargs are made; Mages make unbreakable pacts with a fey, who will live inside them; enchanting the mage with the fey’s abilities. The Wolf King had done this as a favour, because Amadeus pledged his friendship to Morgan to make up for bullying him. Seeing Morgan as a brother, the Wolf King agreed to help Amadeus become a hero worthy of the Wolf Kingdom, and thus worthy to protect Morgan.
However, the moon serval that lived inside Amadeus, had died with the previous Wolf King; and when a fey dies inside a Warg, the human dies with them. Eobreth was indebted to Morgan for their friendship. Thus, Eobreth wasted no time making a special child to enfey Amadeus once more, so he could still be a paladin at Morgan’s side. Another Moon Serval to help both worlds of men and fey. Eobreth also gave Morgan the wolf Stone without question, while this meeting took place. The beast stone made its way back to Eobreth when he became the new Wolf King. Without all ten kingdom stone, Morgan could remain King Mage; which Eobreth would not have. Morgan was like a brother already, and Eobreth wanted him to still be King Mage. Who better to judge who should be King mage, then the one responsible for their existence? Before Amadeus and Morgan left, Eobreth had one favour to ask:
“where are my mother and royal siblings? They are regular human mages now that father is dead. I need to know if they are alive and safe. I need to know how my father died.” Eobreth asked in a new booming growling voice. The warble of his sadness resonated in his words. Morgan shook his head; he had no answers. He was uncomfortable not having answers. As a seer, Morgan knew many things, and answered may questions with encyclopedic insight; but he had no clue about what to do if a beast king ever died. Nor any clue, until now, what happens to the Queen and royal fey when this happens. Moreover, Morgan was equally broken by the loss of an entire fey kingdom, and a brother. The beast kings had also become like the siblings he never had. Until Eobreth asked about it, Morgan was so caught up saving Amadeus’s life, and grieving with Eobreth, that he forgot to ask about the new Wolf Queen. When the boys returned to the day veil, it was to a region wide amber alert looking for Scorpio.

Tale 19: Meriam Craweleoth: Mage Queen of The Grand West (chapter 4.2 -  Time Stands Still: Edmond 4/10) part 4. Stories of Old
Maps
violence, murder, war
On the first day of Autumn, Meriam gave her kingdom a princess: Odette Craweleoth. In four week’s time, an army of Anglia needed to march north to aid Isfisceard, against Mage Prince Edmond of The Far North. Meriam knew he would win if she was not them. She had given her word on behalf of Anglia, in promise of peace with the two north kingdoms, to deal with the prince personally; as a stronger magic user. Meriam was being pulled into war. Furthermore, to arrive on time, the Anglian cavalry, and Meriam, would need to leave promptly. But she was still in recovery with her brand-new daughter, and was far to weak to use magic or ride long-distance and into war. Each week that passed, she made the army wait, in hopes she would recover just enough to join them. She wanted to hate Odette for holding her back, but couldn’t, because after almost a month of constant contact, Meriam had become attached to her only child. She was scared what would happen to her baby if she left for even a day. It was Meriam’s nightmare; ill from child bearing, homebound because of child she didn’t want, had the lives of hundreds of men in her hands, and being forced to use magic in battle. Meriam lay next to her husband, feeding her daughter, and humming her nephew to sleep, thinking; there had to be something she could do that would result in everyone, includer herself, winning.
Time is not to fooled with, but in Ealden Cynedom, it has a way of healing from tampering. As if everything is meant to be, and destiny is unchangeable. Meriam didn’t like using her powers to affect the minds and experiences of time on people, but she needed time. Unlike common folk, Meriam could afford to wait till the last possible minute. If she needed time, she could always make more, by stopping, reversing, or forwarding the clock. With little but a small hourglass, in a marble upon a chain, she was able to move the world around her, backwards. Two weeks after the battle she was supposed to attend, of which was likely won by Prince Edmond at the cost of many lives, Meriam made the world reverse to one week before the battle.  She reversed the event she had failed to attend, resurrecting all who had fallen, and erasing the memory of it ever taking place. It is one thing to use time on a person, a group, or a city; but Meriam was too great a mage to think so small. The whole world was within her control with enough concentration. Still weak, but able enough to use magic to compensate, she marched with the royal guard, who was unaware the Grand West was three weeks in the future compared to other lands. May her fairy robes protect her, for Meriam intended to come home and hold her daughter and husband again. She had a promise to keep, and intended only to return after Edmond Monabellan groveled for an alliance at her feet.
At dawn, Feon woke like any other day. She put on the water to make the porridge, and her family ate breakfast while making their plans for the day. Feon was going to comb the town for daughters of the sea, her husband was going to get wood and sharpen their knives. Their daughters were doing laundry, and Lyra was sent to gather herbs and berries in the glens outside the village. By mid mourning, everyone was off to their tasks. while Feon kissed her husband at the door, the town guard came, and ripped her from his arms. Feon was dragged through the town, as she began to hear panicked yelling and horns. She struggled to get free. The men overpowered her, and dragged her to the edge of the short stone wall of the village. The lord was there, organizing soldiers into formation, and Feon’s captors pulled her head back by her hair, and yelled at her to sing. They pulled at her while the screams started, and a rally speech was given. And all Feon could think about, was where is Lyra? Feon looked around frantically as she was being yelled at to sing a protection enchantment over the town; but that would require feeling love and desire to protect, and Feon only felt fear. Then, lit arrows came, and landed in the nearby the roofs, causing a fire. There was more screaming and panic as the villagers attempted to put out the fire. The two men continued to pull Feon’s hair, and yell for her magical aid in battle. They needed to hold on until Anglia came. Then Feon looked across the field and hills. The world went silent, as directly across the field, her eyes met the yellow eyes of a black haired rough young man, in violet and gold wolf armored robes. He rode a bear, and was exuding a glow like a black hole. She could feel her heart pound against her chest, as a second wave of arrows fell, and the battalion charged to meet their enemy. The promised army of Anglia failed to arrive in time. Feon could not afford to wait for her son Lyra to return; So, she began to sing.
Not a moment earlier, in a tent in the Algonquian camp, Edmond sat with his sister, Luthid. His painted hide tent, was lavished in furs, silver and fine fabrics. His general, who was promised lordship if he conquered the Northlands of Celticia, reminded Edmond of his uncles wishes. Algonquia did not want to kill the people of the Northlands, they just wanted access to its mild weather and greenery. The King of Algonquia did not wish to send his nephew to the imperialistic frontier; It was Edmond’s choice, as a paladin, to help his families kingdom. Even his own men feared him, after he cleared battle after battle to reach the island of Isfisceard. But after using magic for murder, and missing his home, and fearing for his sister, Edmond began to doubt his mission. The radiant green bogs, glens, hills, and song of the sea, were beautiful enough to make him cry; As he murdered its innocent people for someone else. He loved fey, and learned to use weapons as a boy groomed as an heir. The only male heir left. If his sister Luthid died as well, Algonquia would be kingless. And there would be no way for Edmond to give power to the people if the Far North was in untrustworthy hands. He wanted to go home. He wished he had suggested diplomacy sooner. But the soldiers of Algonquia crossed an entire nation, and tasted its blood and riches along the way. Edmond was too far to go back.
Edmond ordered his general out of his tent, and asked for his sister. The general denied his request; Luthid agreed to summon fey for battle in the camp, and was in a small tent preparing. The amount of magic required to control fey, needs a mage to have magic move through them constantly, destroying their bodies. If the battle went on too long, and Edmond did not aid her in controlling their collection of wolf fey, she may die. Edmond felt terror, but did not show it. He went upon the back of his familiar, and lead the lines forward in the crisp ocean air of morning, according to battle plans. They were silent as cats, and swift as foxes.
Edmond was to slowly advance with his foot soldiers, after the arrows of stone and fire had been shot. The yells, and miscellaneous weapons of Celtician men no longer scared them. They had tasted too much victory. After the arrows, behind Edmond, would be the wolf children controlled by Luthid in the camp. Including three Aliki wolf princes they had captured. The carnivoran fey and skilled warriors, tore threw the small army of Isfisceard; and Edmond was untouched as he drew a sword of darkness, while seated high upon his powerful mount. His fairy robes made him impenetrable. And then he heard the sweet song of a woman, and a veil of gold move over the burning town; his eyes met Feon’s, as she cried in fear, attempting to put a charm on the village. It reminded him of how he wanted to cry. For his brethren, for his actions, for his sister, and from the immense pain he felt as a black arrow pierced his familiar from the sky. He became disoriented and no longer absorbing sound for his spells; for a moment, he was weak. Just as quickly as sound had resumed, it dissipated. The battle field began to slow to a stillness, and the sound of hooves approached from the south.
Meriam swooped down upon Nihten, landing in front of Edmond who was gasping his chest on his knees. She looked like Raven, clad in black raven kingdom robes, and black makeup against her pale colours. She was unflinching, like a disappointed mother that saw through their child’s lies. She lifted a silver sword, the gift from Helrem that could cut anything, and pointed the blade at his neck.
“You bitch!” Edomnd yelled, lashing forward with his sword. His intent was to knock away Meriam’s blade. But Meriam held firm; and Edmond’s shadow sword met her own sword, it was cut in half. As time resumed, and her men swept the battle field, They started devastating his troops with their horses. Edmond was shocked, and then Meriam kneed him in the face.
“You disgust me. Those wolf children, and their princes, would have trusted you once. And you make them taste the foul blood of men. You are no mage.” Meriam scolded. Nihten began to peck and pull at his cape, as Meriam tore off his tunic and gloves. Without his robes he could be killed easily. Then he noticed the fey flee form the field, and the two dead Aliki wolves, and their third brother gagging on the blood in his mouth. The fey were free, thus Luthid, his sister, was dead. Edmond dropped his head. He would not come home, and he did not want too. The yelling, and clashing began to sting like his aching heart. The year of sieges resurfacing in his mind. Meriam held her blade high to kill him, and then noticed he was crying.
“Let me at least see my sister, even if she is dead, one last time.” He cried. Then Edmond lifted his head, and yelled for his troops to retreat. Meriam lowered her sword. “I don’t want death anymore. I want my palace bed, and to drink with my uncle, and see my sister wed. I want to howl charms of good dreams into the night, and be the last king Algonquia will ever need. I will leave this land and yours alone. I do not want it anymore. These warm green fjords, come at far to high a cost.” He cried. Meriam lowered her sword. That was exactly what she wanted to hear, and it made her sad. Meriam grabbed Edmond’s collar, and dragged him to his camp. All the soldiers parting ways she walked. As if her presence demanded the men of all three armies to show respect. She gave off an aura of darkness and regality. Meriam walked through the Algonquia camp, and turned their tents to water with only a whisper; and delivered the incapacitated prince to his dead sister’s side. Then she left the way she came, moving calmly across the battle field, and through the burning village. She walked through their house fires, saving their children, and alchemized water to put out the flames. Meriam seemed so steady, its scared people that they could not read her reaction to the battle. Neither joy nor woe. Inside, she was too sad to feel.
On the beach, that was now silent and raging, Meriam found Feon crying and dishevelled upon the pale quartz stone. Feon then ran to the Lighthouse, and up the cliffs. Meriam walked slowly after her. Her stern demeanor softening to one of sorrow, as she followed her friend up the stairs to the peak of the sea wall. Feon wailed into the stormy void, and Meriam walked up, and held her.
“My children and husband died putting out the fire. And Lyra never came back from the woods by the battle field. Down there, by the rocks, an evacuation ship has fallen to a kraken, who was summoned by their song. She must have really liked it. Then the stirring waves approach, and I believe Lyra has been claimed by the sea. Why am I alive Merry? Out of everyone, why me? Why not my children?”
“You protected your village from further danger. That is why you are alive like many of them. I must admit I am so sorry; I wish I could have come sooner. But you did not tell me how long it would take for me to gather strength for this mission, after bearing a child. I also didn’t expect I would love her so much.” Meriam whispered. “I understand, why you do not want to leave them behind. I can’t imagine your loss, Feon.”
“I am happy your family is safe. I am happy the Far North retreats and bargains for forgiveness and friendship. I am happy-” Feon sniffed.
“Do not lie. Even if this battle is over, you have lost so much this day. You may cry, I will be here next to you.” Meriam sniffed. “I will cry with you.”
After a few days of restoring the village and resting, Meriam and her men prepared to leave. The people of Isfisceard and Celticia thanked them, for not only winning a battle, but ending a war. They were willing to leave the past behind them, for the chance at another dawn. Before Her troops left, Meriam walked to the beach. There was white fog that did not block the sun, upon the pristine beach. Laughter of selkies collecting shells echoed across the empty sand. Feon stood by her rock, looking into the perfectly flat sea.
“I came to say good bye; but now I am disturbed by the silence of the sea.” Meriam said.
“Oh, goodbye my friend.” Feon said starring into the fog. “Well wishes to your family; I trust helping with the village’s babes means your daughter won’t starve when you return. Though I know a woman of your noble standing shouldn’t need to worry about such thing. Sorry; I just miss my own babies so much. You know, you were right; I think I want to stop journaling magic texts, and instead write poetry for charms.” Feon said. She was still gazing into the horizonless distance.
“No worries. But, why do you observe nothing so closely?”
“This morning I saw a man on the beach; wearing white and gold fish robes, and with ginger hair twisted into strands that are tied in an elaborate knot. And I hear the fey of the sea thank their Queen father for a song of calmness and mist. I am happy; Lyra will live on, safely around magic.” Feon smiled.

Tale 21: What The Wagon Was For (3/8)
Tale 21: What The Wagon Was For (chapter 3 - Family Recipe 3/8 ) part 6. Stories of wizards
none
Fairies are by far Morgan’s favourite. Particularly Naiads. Of course, he loved all magic; But something about fairies appealed to him. The glittering ice, pastel aesthetic, and the radiant portrayals of them in art. They could transmute, learn, and had the most human form of all fey. They had a special smile when they felt joy; Closing their eyes to put on a rosy checked doll like expression. Fairies also wielded the most powerful elemental and healing magics. They are easily befriended, and very helpful to humans that they are fond of. The Fairy King made her children for one simple reason; Befriending humans. Even their appearance and nature, was enticing and cheerful. They contained ignorant bliss, and ambiguous morality; Like they were trying, but still didn’t understand humanity; Yet, very badly wanted to. Lastly, they were the fey that got infatuated the most often, and their love requited because of their human forms. The most convincedly human, are the nymphs; The embodiments of nature.
Morgan’s first encounter with fey was with the Theamen River nymphs, at the city zoo. He was too young for school then. It startied his magic journey. Fey didn’t judge him, or hurt him. They talked with him politely, and shared kind greetings and smiles. Particularly once he learned Elden Anglian. Morgan’s first fey friend was a wolf prince, Eobreth, and his second mentor was a fountain nymph. Morgan nearly feinted at the sight of such a rarity, living indistinguishable from an ordinary man. Where ever Morgan wandered, there was fey; And every fey, was a friend.
After his first visit to the Shadow Veil, Morgan lusted for more. Coming home, he realized how scary and overwhelming his life was. He had forgotten what it was like to have fun, enjoy learning, and feel safe. Luckily, his parents didn’t find out about his most recent spell experiments. To be extra sure, he ate dinner so they wouldn’t worry. At dinner, Morgan’s mother and father said they were going on an anniversary vacation to the countryside. Morgan dropped his fork; He was going to stay with his grandmother. For a whole week.
Though grandfather’s magic garden reminded his parents of their father’s passing; It reminded grandmother of her true love. Grampa Patrick loved magic, and was sweet, silly and kind to everything. That sort of charisma is rare. His death in the line of duty was a tragedy, and a great loss to Morgan’s family. It gave them a mistrust of magic. Thus, Morgan’s mother, Icthya, kept her one and only miracle child away form magic. But there was also grandpa’s garden. For the Calci Tree, Whist, was a kind fey; Who made Morgan’s wishes came true. She taught Morgan how to speak with fey. Grandmother’s house was a haven, where Morgan could gently observe and study magic, without anyone stopping him. Often, Morgan wondered if his grandmother knew he was a mage, and learning magic, the whole time. Perhaps, she never stopped him because it reminded her of her late husband.
A magic garden full of fey friends wasn’t all that waited for Morgan, in that cozy pastel cottage core Pepperidge home. There was also was baking with his grandmother. Homemade biscuits for the spaniels, and his favourite cookie; soft raspberry thumbprint cookies. His grandmother made Morgan an avid gardener, and baker. Each time he visited, he had injuries. Morgan’s relationship with magic, was second to her suspicions of a troubled home life. She just needed one ounce of proof, to be sure her grandson wasn’t safe.
After a day of baking and gardening, Morgan went to bed early. He slept on the couch in the basement, out of preference. Sometimes he would roll out of the blankets, and his grandmother would tuck him back in. But tonight, Morgan had a nightmare. Unable to go back to sleep, he focused on the only thing that distracted his racing mind: Magic. His visit to the Shadow Veil proved that the Beast Kings liked the same things as their fey children. The Stone King was like a person, and he likes potatoes and games. No different then a friendly troll or tiny goblin. Morgan went into his backpack and found the smooth stone with the rune on it. He put it away. Then he went to the kitchen, and started stuffing his backpack. He brought cookies, dog treats, tea, broken key chains, and then headed to the shed. He grabbed one of his father’s horse brushes, some chalk, candles, and the garden hose. Quietly, Morgan returned to the basement, and drew the candle gate again; he wanted to see the veil once more.
First, Morgan ran to the fairy kingdom. But he soon found out the gate he made went to the Wolf Kingdom. A luck calico came, and starting rubbing his leg. The orange of her patches and red of her collar stood out against the grayscale ether. Morgan gave her a good petting. She was so cute. He then followed her into the woods. In a clearing, Morgan lost track of the cat fey he was following. He looked around. There was a giant rock in the center, and trails going in every direction. He saw the platform of the Wolf Gate; it was also closed, just like the Stone Gate.
“Gud Deigan Mage.” Morgan heard in a growling voice. Looking up to the rock, he saw a giant timber wolf, clad in armour. Morgan’s face lit up. If Eobreth wasn’t a chip off the old block! Morgan bowed before the Wolf King, and introduced himself.
“Wait dear,” a soft voice spoke. “He is hurt. Let me heal him before you play. There is no love like a mother’s love, and no magic as powerful as love. The kiss of a Beast Queen will heal all ailments.” She continued. Morgan turned to his left to see a woman of the Far North, turn into a sizable white wolf. She licked his face, and his scars and bruises vanished.
“Oh. Thanks Wolf Queen?” Morgan inquired.
“Queen Flowen.” She smiled. Morgan hugged her. She was comforting and soft.
“My true love said play! There are my children mage boy,” The Wolf King boomed, looking into the brush. There were two puppies; one silver, one roan, and a grown white Aliki wolf princess.
“Do you want to hunt with us? I smell my eldest son on you! Of course, you want to!” The Wolf King laughed heartily. He was wagging his tail. Morgan was sure wolves couldn’t do that; But they were magic wolves.
“I don’t know about hunting… I don’t like hurting things. But I did bring you something you might like.” Morgan said quietly. He reached into his bag, took out the dog treats he baked, and opened the bag. There was silence as four royal wolves perked up and pointed their ears in his direction. Flowen turned back into her human self, to laugh.
“Do you know fetch? I bet you can catch these in mid air!” Morgan exclaimed.
Morgan looked at the smooth stone he got from the Wolf King. It had the rune Ing on it. For the wolf kingdom he suspected. When he looked up, Morgan noticed he was in a forest of frosted trees. It was like a prettier version of winter. An ice bridge went over a creek, that had nymphs sleeping in it. There were nymphs everywhere; And pixies in the trees. Morgan was in a state of euphoria. The Fairy Kingdom was beyond his wildest dreams. After blacking out from excitement, he woke up on a sparkling lavender bed, in a purple glittering tent. A large woman, of gentle build and icy eyes, with long sunny hair, and a crown of ice was looking at him. Morgan gave her a thumbprint cookie, from his bag.
“A human who is a mage, is giving me a cookie!” She yelled. The Fairy King was the most childlike, innocent, and loving Beast King. She grabbed the biscuit, and ate it. The thumbprint cookie, made with love between a grandmother and grandson, was the best the Fairy King had yet.
“Thankyou!” She smiled.
“No, thank you. For your children. They are good friends.” Morgan smiled, getting up slowly “Sorry for feinting. I do that sometimes.” He whispered. The Fairy King was eating another cookie, her hand gently on her face in endearment. She had that same fairy smile as her children.
“As a mage, would you like fairy robes?” She spoke. She had already started making them, and putting them on Morgan before he could say anything. His pajamas were now protective, enchanted, navy and gold, raven kingdom robes.
Morgan found a stone in his pocket, like the others, with the rune feor on it. Wealth, for the fairy kingdom it is. Heading in no particular direction, Morgan found himself in a dewy vibrant jungle oasis, before gently flowing springs. He had no clue where he was.
“You should go. She doesn’t like company.” Said a South-Central man, smoking a pipe. He mildly resembled a Galada, but with indigo monkey kingdom fairy robes. Morgan’s books sure made him make sense of the place; That must be Monkey Queen. Looking up, Morgan saw a golden baboon sitting upon an iron rod. She was wearing violet monkey robes, hooked with black and gold lotuses. She looked mad.
“Go away,” She snapped. “Me, and my children, like solitude to reflect on our wisdom.” She said in an assertive voice. The Monkey King, though pleased to see a mage in her kingdom, was unhappy to be interacting with someone. Before she finished her reflection, Morgan was on his way out. Fey didn’t have to ask him to do anything. He, like fey, would do anything for a friend. Surprised and amused, the Monkey king threw an apple and a stone at him. The apple tasted like rose water; the stone had the rune for Mann.

Tale 18: Patrick Monabellan & the Paladins (chapter 1 - Wolf Boy 1/4) part 3. Stories of True Love
none
Emilia had always joked, with no ill intent, that her fourth child was not a boy, but the family dog. Patrick was the worst child of the lot. If a dog did it, he did it smarter. Starting at the age of three, he did everything from: fetch, howl, growl, play tag, hide and seek, wiggle when excited, chew things, eat things he shouldn’t, have heightened senses, often went on all fours, and never grew out of any of it. He was an excellent puzzle solver and tracker. Patrick was also strong and energetic, but otherwise grumpy, and gave the most talk back out of the four children. Even then, Patrick would find joy in guarding and snuggling all three of his big sisters, and his parents. It was equally annoying and adorable. This simple fact kept him alive most days.
Patrick’s father became King Mage in magic school, or perhaps before; it was unclear. This meant Morgan was prophesized to have one child for each quadrant of the table of fours; the ancient diagram that showed all magic correlation. Morgan and Emilia would have one child for each season, and a Beast King of fey that belonged in that season, was the one to name them. The chance to name one of the four children, was a privilege the King’s quarreled over. Morgan was like there brother now, and names are important to fey. Patrick’s older sisters were housed by the Stag, then the Dragon, then the Raven Kingdoms, as the table went from spring, to summer, then fall. Until the year ended, when finally, winter came around. No one was more excited to the child of winter as Emilia; She had always wanted a boy, as a chip off the old block. As in a son that was as adorable as his father.
When Patrick was born, He was everything their family wished for. If not removed surgically a little earlier than expected; just as his father. To the horror of the nursing staff, the Wolf King came directly to the NICU to name him. This Wolf king was not the original one, that had won the chance to name a King Mage’s children; but the previous Wolf King’s eldest prince, Eobreth. Morgan’s best, and first, fey friend. To say the least, they knew each other’s life stories well. As wolf king, he had many of the values his fey kingdom: leadership, bravery, strength, and loyalty. Emilia and Morgan anticipated their son would be named something along those line. But the Wolf King knew human’s, and Morgan, better than the other beast kings; He didn’t want Patrick to have a heroic or symbolic name. He wanted to choose one that would be meaningful to Morgan specifically. Eobreth named Patrick after his great grandfather, who’s early death at the hands of magic conflict, shaped Morgan’s life. Patrick was lovingly place in the Wolf Kingdom house, reserved for the first kings of the Far North: Monabellan. As Patrick grew, he turned out to be proud of his relationship with the wolf kingdom, and its heroism. Patrick acted like a wolf, and became a master of winter magic from the moment he could count. As if Eobreth gave him more than just a name.
Patrick’s fairy robes where the same as the Wolf Kingdom’s royalty. All fairy robes the Fairy King makes, to protect her magic human friends, are fashioned after the fey kingdom that the mage is housed in. But far less fassionable. Patrick’s special protective garbs, were gray with white fur lining, and armored sleeves, hide pants, furred gloves, and moccasin boots. And no wolf housed mage’s robes were complete without the trademark wolf eared hood on it. He looked like winter itself when he wore them. Complementing the fairness, he got from his mother; he almost glowed in the moonlight.
By school age, Patrick summoned a familiar for a ‘pack mate.’ Patrick’s familiar was a white wolf that aged with him, named Orion. Speaking of heroes and winters nights. When people asked Patrick what job he wanted, as many adults do to instill unrealistic expectations of life in children, his answer was always gold. Raised on the epicenter of a magic forest ,Tiberius Gate, and passionate about protecting people, Patrick had no doubt what he wanted to be. Unlike the other kids in primary public school, his answer was not ‘a wolf’, ‘a doctor’, ‘a herpetologist,’ nor ‘a wizard’. Instead, Patrick would exclaim:
“I’M GOING TO BE THE BEST PALADIN IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, OF A MAGIC FOREST!” Every single time. Maybe it was his enthusiasm, or perhaps the obviousness of the answer. Either way it was a charming in a genuine joy, and ‘plausible but highly unlikely’, sort of way.
Like many mages before him, Patrick was on a mission to be his best magical self. A mythical detective, RPG Private I, wizard cop; he knew what he was about. Justice. But living on Tiberius Gate, and dipping in magery, meant he would not be accepted into the paladin academy; in which entry was competitive. The only school that accepted or taught mages, was the local Pepperidge academy for international and troubled youth. Because of Morgan’s career in restoring and translating historical magic, and opening Tiberius Gate, Pepperidge became the only school that had the necessary resources to teach mages. Even if mages weren’t as taboo as when Morgan was a boy, mages were still misunderstood. No school would take in wielders of old magic, nor teach magery. Nevertheless, Patrick had stars in his eyes, which stemmed from growing up watching Melida Daigendun and Amadeus Rosethorn, a head paladin and personal protector, respectively. They were both also close family friends, who were mages, that constantly visited. Patrick got to hear about the most exciting tales from them both of them. Amadeus may of favoured Patrick’s older sister Calliope, but this didn’t deter Patrick from making him an idol. The additional tales of other paladins in the journals Morgan would read at bedtime, inspired him with their bravery and magical quests.
Using magical to help and protect what one loves, is the solid foundation for making a passionate paladin. Patrick’s eyes sparkled at the mere mention or sight of one. And it inspired people to aid him in achieving his goal. However, given he was a mage, not even Melida could pull strings to get Patrick into the paladin academy. Patrick’s talents, given to him by birth, hindered his chances of becoming a decorated paladin. Even if he would make a great asset to the field. Amadeus assured him that a pompous school, was not the only path to becoming a talented guardian of magic; siting his study at Pepperidge academy, and the demoted Kent Summorhind, who went to the paladin academy. Patrick, however, was too young at the time to be comforted by such fact; He was focused on how unfair it was, that people rejected him because he was born a little more affectionate toward magic.
Paladins are not defined by their magic, but that they protect and fight with it, and for it. Though ‘mage’ meant dark and dangerous to many, all magic professions were originally all occupied, and invented by, mages. Modern wizardry had a specific mage to thank; a warlock named Helram Monafyra. He left recipes, instructions, and wands, that allowed common men who loved magic, to love it the way mages do. This was lost and forgotten with time. The stigma around mages still made it hard for attitudes to change. Even though in reality, mages are like magic, and magic is neutral. Mages, though wielding greater spells of old, were not dangerous in nature. Wizards and common folk on the other hand, are not inherently magic; they are people. Whether or not humans are inherently good, bad, both, or neither, is debatable; but not for mages and magic. Magic is not aligned to any side, it only is. Thus, all the problems, stigmas and fears of magic that exist, are the result of wizards; not mages or fey. Giving wizards wands is one of the most heated debates in magic history, ever since Morgan shared it with the world. Was Helrem right or wrong, for wanting to share his adoration and abilities? Or was the road to misfortune paved with good intentions? Was it Helrem’s inventions, or human nature, that caused the downfall of mages and murder of fey?
Patrick mulled over the stigma of fey and mages by wizards. In pepperidge, all three were the same. Yet, outside of home, it mattered. Patrick knew why, but resented it. Unable to go to his dream school, and settling for the local school like his parents and siblings, he became a lonely broken mage. No one warmed to his wolf like nature, and powerful winter magic. After years of everyone telling him he could be as good a paladin as any, without a fancy education, Patrick was still stung by how the circumstances of his birth meant there was even a difference. No amount of perfect grades or constant training could fix that.
In need of work after graduation, Patrick listened to every conversation his family had, for clues for finding his post to guard. Even if he looked like he wasn’t listening, or couldn’t hear; Patrick’s senses were keen, and his will strong. When his eldest sister, Cadence, came home, she said she was moving outside Grand Snow; The magic forest of the Dragon Gate. Her husband said his father could use some help. This was Ouroboros Blacneadre, was the mage of the Dragon Gate, and a school friend of Patrick’s father; and he needed a little extra magic assistance. Patrick thought it odd, as Ouroboros’s wife was Saianne Healpenbroc, was also a mage; but he was not going to pass by an opportunity like that. Perhaps Grand Snow needed a next generation mage, now that Cadence was gone. Patrick, immediately volunteered. He was unlicensed, having not had an apprenticeship, and he didn’t care: It was a magic forest in need of protecting! Patrick left off to the mountains of the Westlands, to be a real paladin. The valuable heritage village at the peaks of a magic forest, was lost in time, and worth preserving. Patrick had read and heard of it many journals and from many friends. He was excited to see it. The Quarantine, paperwork, and long train ride would be worth it.

Scorpio as Wolf Queen; even more adorable edition.
Tale 0: Death at the Wolf Gate (chapter 4. Two Wolves Between Two Gates 4/4) part 2. Stories of Fey
none
Sunaeth ran through the thin woods of North Moon, across the stony flats, and straight to the Wolf Gate. In the Silent crisp cold of dawn, She examined the gate; she hadn’t seen it since her Father died. Looking at her mothers’ fine work, Suna found herself appreciating the Wolf Gate, in an artistic kind of way. The Wolf Gate was perfectly smooth, the soap stone polished to perfection; not a sliver of silver left. It had a round plate with the table of fours carved in it, and nine short obliques, carved with runes. The gate suited the flats so well, it looked like it had always been a part of the landscape. There were two steps up the plate, on the north east side, with the runes Ing carved on them; the rune of the heroic warriors of the wolf kingdom. Wolf children pride themselves on loyalty, and strength. Not to different from the people of the Far North. The Gate was beautiful, old, and belonged here. Suna could not imagine what would ever make someone want to ruin it. It represented her new home, the birthplace of her mother, and magic spirit of the Far North. It represented the wolf kingdom of fey, in which she belonged. The gate stirred Sunaeth, and reminded her of her parents, and of the simple beauty in these cold isolated alpine lands. She sighed and stepped forward; it was enough sight seeing for now. Suna leapt into the Wolf Gate, and into the into the shadow veil. Her old home was still comforting in its stillness, and was just as grey and quiet as she recalled.
“Sunaeth, you are ok,” A growly booming voice announced from behind her. “How is mother and the twins? Do you miss father as I do? Do you like my children? I have been slaving away to restore the kingdom. I’m afraid it has made me too busy to visit any old friends or family.” Sunaeth turned around, surprised to see a familiar face.
“Eobreth!” Sunaeth said. An enormous timber wolf, with gold and steel armor lay, crestfallen upon a tall rock. Eobreth was too scared to leave his new throne, and spent most of his time sitting where his father used to. Eobreth was scared he would die in the day veil, yet missed it dearly. By comparison to the day veil, the neutral nothingness of the ether of magic, was flavourless and solemn. Eobreth let out a sigh like wind rushing across the tundra. Sunaeth rarely saw Eobreth, and when she did see her older brother, he was never so wilted.
“Do you miss the day veil, brother? I have lost my identity, but I guess you lost your spirit. It’s bad enough father is gone,” Sunaeth said. Then she remembered how a royal fey becomes king; “Oh, oh! Who’s the lucky maiden you made your queen!” she exclaimed. Sunaeth had a forced enthusiasm in her words. Simply trying to cheer Eobreth with her curiosity.
“I do miss the day veil, and my brother Morgan. He is wise for his age, but could not tell me what happened to father. Do you have answers for us all? It scared many humans to see the beloved children of our kingdom suddenly vanish,” Eobreth hummed. “As for my Queen, she is named Scorpio; a young haughty and radiant mage from Morgan’s friend group. She may not be the best choice to rear pups, but she makes my days warmer. She is a piece of the day veil I can hold close when I miss it.” He finished. Seeing her brother still crestfallen, Sunaeth climbed up the rocks to hug his chest, burying herself in his fur; it felt exactly like their fathers. Eobreth was so much bigger than she remembered; his voice so much stronger and presence more ghostly. It suited him.
“I am sorry brother, or should I say King. Your freedom in the day veil meant a lot to you, if I recall. Yet, I think that is what makes you the most qualified to be Wolf King; It has made you wise, old, and kind,” Sunaeth whispered. “Do you want to have Aliki puppies soon? I think you should give your queen time to adjust, before all that business. Even if the security of magic is at risk. As a human forced into a new form and life, I can sympathize; I wish I had more time to take it in, before dashing into new ways. She must be as equally sad, shacken, and lost as us.”
“You are correct. Magic is not above fear, thus I am not above expressing my woe and anxiety about the security of the wolf kingdom and my bride. I trap her here out of my own selfish troubles. Yet, I love her so much I can’t wait for a family. Scorpio will not see the day veil again, until we are assured the wolf kingdom has heirs and a future. Humans are resilient; I trust Scorpio, and you, will settle sooner then you think.”
“Does this mean you got to go to the secret den? Is that where she hides, to cry like I wish I could every day? You’re both so lucky; I got to babysit, but our parents never let me see the den. I have all the strongest abilities to track down the impossible, but I could never find the royal wolf den. Do you remember the den?” Sunaeth asked, still embracing Eobreth’s collar.
“I am so old; the memories of childhood escape me. Yet, I was able to find it when I came back. However, I dare not bring you there. My queen is grieving her family, and old life, as you suggested. She will outlive them, you see. If she was not fully invested in the kingdoms cause, I doubt she would be struggling to accept it, and keep her word.” Eobreth responded. Then curiosity struck him; Sunaeth would never defy mother, and run about the veils. “
Where are you off too sister? I wasn’t expecting to see you so soon.” Eobrteh said, posturing up to lick Suna.
“The dumb school by Tiberius Gate. Mother says I need to be reformed, and give your bride’s family closure.” Sunaeth scoffed. She was not fond of the idea, and would rather stay with Eobreth in the shadow veil. Which reminded her to tell him how it all happened.
Sunaeth spent an hour informing Eobreth of their father’s death at the wolf gate; and informed him how their mother was. Sunaeth retold how Flowen had restored the gate, and was now the witch of the wolf gate’s magic forest. Eobreth now had nothing left to fear from North Moon. Sunaeth also added that their little siblings, Eaowaeth and Behfirneth, were adjusting better then her; and then admitted she was neglecting the study of magic to try and remain a wolf.  Sunaeth missed the shadow realm and being a wolf to the point of keeping her old ways. Eobreth said nothing, only listening to his sister while he walked calmly beside her. They were heading towards the center of the shadow veil, where the entrance to Tiberius Gate was. She still needed to speak to Morgan, and Scorpio’s family. Yet, Suna and Eobreth’s pace was leisurely, as their quest didn’t feel urgent for some reason. Going to school was going to be good for Suna mentally, and being messenger would ease the minds of the village and her family. However, Scorpio’s family, and Morgan with his friends, would eventually find out themselves; via fey or exploration of the shadow veil. Morgan would inevitably seek Eobreth’s company and question him. There was no further rush to save the Wolf Kingdom. With a new king and queen, the magic the wolf kingdom provided remained in the world. All ten pieces that made magic whole, were intact because Scorpio decided there was no time like the present to love someone.
In silence, Sunaeth slowly walked, absorbing the experience of the shadow veil, as if she would never see it again, or was saying good bye. Of course, Sunaeth would be back some day, but everything felt like a good bye she didn’t want to have. Soon, what happened to the Wolf King would be recounted, and maybe some wizards angered, families sad and so on. But right now, it was alright; there was no one needed to rush the flow of knowledge, since everything was settled. Everything except Suna’s heart.
“I will not name any children after you or the twins.” Eobreth said, interrupting Sunaeth’s train of thought. “You will always be my little siblings; wolf prince and princesses. You have the magic of the wolf kingdom, even if you have the form of it’s children. You deserve the suffix eth, in your name, and to be called by it. Our father gave you that name, and that makes it special.” Eobreht comforted.
“You could enfay me! Then I could warg into a wolf child.” Sunaeth mused. The idea was thrilling. Keeping her name was a good comfort, but she did want another chance at a white wolf once more. Eobreth found the joke disrespectful, and stopped in his tracks.
“No. I have done that to save a dear friend, Amadeus, which you will meet. But I will not do that for you, Sunaeth. You are already a wolf child, as I have said. I refuse to enfey you.” Eobreth stated. His voice took on a thunder like rumble, causing sunaeth to shrink. When she stopped next to her older brother, they were infront of the platform to Tiberius Gate. Sunaeth adjusted her backpack straps, and pouted; the moment was ending.
“I don’t want to go to school. Or wear cotton and use cutlery. Seer or paladin, I don’t care what type of mage I am. I want to hunt and protect my family, and explore like I once did.” Sunaeth said, beginning to tear. “I don’t want to be a weak, violent human trapped in the day veil. I want to be me; a strong avid hunter and big sister.” She continued. Eobreth stared at the platform and gave a saih. He was siding hard with his mother. This was not a matter of want.
“The real reason I will not enfey you, Sunaeth, is because I envy you.” Eobreth said, nuzzling his check into her body. “You get to go to the day veil, as a human, with not fear of murder by the hands of men. You don’t just observe the colour and wonder of humanity, in the day veil; you get to be a part of it. I stayed all those centuries beside the men who enslaved me, far from home and family, just wishing for that. We do not choose our final destinations or desires, I believe; but we do choose what to do next. If my confession of my wish, for our places to have been switched, does not make you see the light in your new path; Let me at least wish you luck to achieving happiness, and comfort, in your future as a human mage. If you believe I will be a good king, I believe that you will accept and embrace your humanness in that school. You do not have to leave magic behind. Now go inform my brother Morgan, of how father passed and where Scorpio is. Make this kingdom proud.” Eobreth said. He stood regally above Sunaeth, looking at the gate. Sunaeth felt his words. They may not have fully convinced her of her fortune at the time; However, it did motivate her to give it a chance. Sunaeth walked onto the platform and appeared in the center of the tower of Tiberius Gate, in front of Morgan. Morgan was changing into his pajamas, in the main hall for some reason. Suna recalled he was disorganized at times.
“Hello. It’s Sunaeth. I’m not sure you remember hunting with me in the shadow veil, but I’m here to tell you: Scorpio is ok, she’s Wolf Queen. Mother, Queen Flowen, is now witch of the Wolf Gate in North Moon,” Sunaeth recited, her voice beginning to warble. “Which was opened while coated in silver killing my father,” She began to sniff. “which is why I am now a regular human, and mage. I am here to go to the academy with you, to learn magic,” she began to cry, “because I can’t keep acting like a magical wolf to feel better about my father and siblings being gone. Because I don’t want to let go.” Sunaeth sobbed. Her cheeks were soaked with tears. Like the waterfall of emotions, she was putting aside to be brave, were pouring out of her. It was an uncontrollable wave, that she could not outrun. Sunaeth then headed to the academy to check in. Nothing she said gave her joy. These facts, of the past, were just given over to a Seer of magic, to pass on to other people. All the while, Sunaeth was to wear a uniform, and lived like everyone else; As if what had happened, meant nothing. As if she was never fey. Sunaeth couldn’t let go of the pain yet. The desire to return to the security of her former identity, and the warmth of her parents cuddling her was consuming. The timeless wonders of the shadow veil, was all she knew. Sunaeth felt alone while being hated for growling at people, slowly learning etiquette, searching for friends, and wishing she could just accept it all a little faster. Which was in fact, the only thing she was defiantly not alone in.

Tale 2: Master Morgan Cynedom (chapter 5 Accomplished Endeavor 5/6 ) part 1. Stories of Beginnings
None
A month after opening Tiberius Gate, Emilia came to the academy requesting to see Morgan again. She had brought him a birthday gift. The look on Estella and Woodwick’s faces, was grim.
“We may have lost him to the local ancient magic forest; With an ominous big dark tower on it. Not far from the school grounds, actually.” Woodwick said neurvously. Emilia scowled at him.
“It has been about a month, since he entered what we deduced was a massive gate to the shadow veil,” Estella explained. “When we decided to send a search party, Morgan was found lying on the floor in the center of the towers. He seemed to be fine when he woke up. We thought Morgan had just feinted from excitement. Yet, upon taking him back to the school, Morgan continues sleepwalking back to the tower each night. We have not found a way to stop him, and Morgan is staying silent.” Estella added.
“Ah. Magic. I see. Well, I’ll just give him his present in person. Maybe sleeping beauty will be pleasantly awoken to a birthday gift from his one true love?” Emilia laughed. Estella stood up behind Emilia, unveiling her intimating stature.
“My apologies, Emilia. But neither me nor Woodwick can go near the gate. That forest has become alive, and enchants us.”
“Oh, I forgot Estella; I also need to warn Morgan his parents are trying to come here, in spite of the garbage legal system here. Or were they trying to send him mail? Any who; I’m off to the gate!” Emilia chimed, twirling the present.
“Absolutely not. No one is allowed near the gate. It may be dangerous. Even if we are curious, and deeply wish to see what Morgan is up to.” Woodwick insisted.
“So why aren’t we allowed near this gate? You’re all about magic right? Shouldn’t magical forests be another tuesday? You’re lead paladin; What is the worst that could happen?!” Emilia begged. Her persistence was commendable. After Emilia followed, and nagged, Estella all morning, she obliged. Secretly, Woodwick and Estella were avoiding the gate, as it as mysteriously drawing them in. It was unsettling.
When Emilia finally arrived on Tiberius Gate, she was unafraid. In fact, she was outright charmed to be in a real magic forest. Emilia had a skip in her step, as if she was filled with whimsy. The place seemed wonderous, instead of dangerous. Emilia was certain Morgan would listen to her, and explain himself, for her. She had that effect on him. But Emilia halted at the dragon statue; Woodwick and Estella were gazing intensely into the gate.
“Gud daigan Eobreth!” Emilia shouted. Estella snapped out of her trance, and looked to the ditch to see the Aliki Wolf that was fond of Morgan.
“Gud deigan, mage bryd” Eobreth responded, looking up. Emilia gave the large wolf prince a good snuggling. Woodwick nearly fled. He had never heard of, or seen, a fey speak. He took off his glasses, to clean them on his robes before putting them back on his face.
“Morgan says they only speak Ealden Anglian; He taught me that phrase. No idea what it means though. Apparently, children of the fairy kingdom, can learn to speak any language.” Emilia said, as she proceeded to walk toward the tower. Out of fear for her safety, Estella and Woodwick rushed after her, and as they entered they transformed. Estella’s hair and eyes shimmered the colours of a mountain meadow at dawn, while Woodwick’s inherited robe, became more vibrant, as did his eyes. The gate felt like a warm hug; Like it was home.
Morgan was organizing, and shelving, books in the main hall, when Emilia and her escorts entered the center tower.
“Told you you’re a child of the fairy king, Woodwick.” Morgan said, back turned.
“Rise and shine Morgan! Happy birthday!” Emilia said, holding out a pink box. Morgan turned and blushed upon seeing her, and walked over to open it. It was an new journal.
“Oh, Thanks.” He giggled.
“For all your magical notes. So you can have a fancy mage journal too,” She whispered, kissing his cheek. “Can’t wait to see what you paint in there.”
“Maybe hold back; The fey, Beast Kings, or worse the queens, will hear. They want to wed me ASAP. It’s embarrassing! If they find out I love you, they’ll go bananas.” he whispered in a panic. Emilia started laughing. Morgan looked extremely disgruntled by this. Even Woodwick got a chuckle.
“What are you doing, Morgan?” Estella demanded.
“Apparently I opened the gate. I found so many journals by Tiberius here; He’s the mage who made this place! Also, found more old books from mages he befriended. They recount the last records of magery. I’ve been putting up the collection, and restoring them, all month while I was here. The forest looks so beautiful now! So many nice fey live here, I learned all of their names. Because I’m king mage from collecting those stones, fey instantly befriend me like an uncle of sorts. Additionally, the journals here say I will have children corresponding to the table of fours. I learned to fly Icarus, so we can see the whole forest, and I can sense anyone or anything on it. Oh, and there is a fountain and a unicorn pasture you might like!” Morgan rambled. “Tiberius used to paint there; His artwork is incredible. But I feel super bad for Tiberius and his daughter. They were killed in this village, out of fear. Estella, why are mages scary? Nothing I’ve done or read has harmed anyone, or anything. It’s not dark at all. In fact, it’s not much of anything...” Morgan said.
Estella stood like a deer in the headlights. Morgan provided a lot of information. Morgan was now officially a full out mage. He could command an entire magic fores,t and opened a gate to the magical ether. Worse yet, it didn’t bother her. When Estella considered Morgan’s question, she reflected on all she had witnessed observed. He was right; Nothing in any of the books that he talked about, nor spells or actions he performed, were bad. He actually made matters of magic better for everyone in the end.
“Morgan, I am uncertain why people loath magery.  Maybe some people are just scared things they don’t understand, or are different. Tiberius Gate, your schooling, and family situation, may be more then you can handle. I hope you’re ready for what might result from this.” Estella cautioned. It gave Emilia and Morgan chills. He started to shudder, as for once, he considered the consequences of his actions.

Estella Celetine.
Tale 2: Master Morgan Cynedom (chapter 3- compelling quests 3/6 ) part 1. Stories of Beginnings
None
Morgan’s uncle, Cetus, was struggling to qualify for guardianship, and Morgan was placed in the care of the Government of The Grand West. The head wizrds had become concerned, and assigned Morgan a watch paladin; Estella Celestine. She was from the Eastlands, and said to be enfeyed with a unicorn she had attempted to save. Her familiar was a black caribou named Calisto, whom she rode. The council wanted Morgan guarded, in fear that his traumatic upbringing would lead him to wield old magic with malice. But they couldn’t execute the anti-Mage sentences, as Morgan was still a minor. However, perhaps they could salvage him, with the supervision of a proper mentor, and ‘modern’ education. Extra security and tutoring were needed, alongside mental support, to feel in control. They needed a trusted and powerful crew for the job.
Estella seemed to always write kind worded reports. One was about Morgan putting a gate to what he called the shadow veil, in the wizardry bank dragon security hall; To alleviate the abused dragon who guarded the vaults. Estella said Morgan recognized the dragon, as Dragon Queen Quellelthan. Something about her size, pearly white scales, golden horns, and soft appearance for a dragon; Insisted she was a mage. Morgan was determined to return Quellelthan to her husband, after so many years of captivity. But he realized wizards wouldn’t approve of the lack of dragon security.  Morgan had asked Quellelthan, if one of her daughters would be a willing guard.
The Dragon Queen recommended one of her sassy royal daughters, who liked treasure, messing with humans, and anything lemon. Estella said Morgan used blood wax to make a gate under the dragon, encompassing the hall, to make a gate and switch dragons. Morgan performed it like it was no big deal. Estella confirmed the daughter, named laurel, easily accepted the position. No chains or abuse necessary. Estella quoted that Morgan gave Laurelathan the largest lemon meringue pie she had ever seen. Boy could out-bake her own great aunts. Additionally, on each account Estella made of Morgan’s quests, she mentioned a blonde young lady named Emilia; Who seemed to be his friend. Emilia had casually stood in the doorway of the hall, watching Morgan talk to dragons. Emilia seemed to find the ordeal cool, and when she told Morgan, he gave a shy thank you.
The second report of Morgan’s escapades, was of him summoning and playing with an Aliki wolf; Who are giant royal wolves, that are the wolf king’s heirs. Morgan was calling the wolf by it’s name, and speaking with him in Ealden Anglian. The large wolf was of ride-able size. Estella withheld his name; Eobreth. Morgan and Icarus told Emilia and Estella, that when Morgan went to the shadow veil, while in a low mood, he gave the Wolf King and his fey children dog treats, made with his grandmother’s recipe. The Wolf King thought the dog biscuits Morgan made, were the best food in the veils.
Estella added Morgan had given her and Emilia little detail on the specifics of what he did in the shadow veil. However, Morgan seemed to carry many stones with runes on them, each time.  Emilia appeared unfazed by the shadow veil, or any mythic encounter. Emilia said she was bothered by the Beast Queen’s cooing about how cute they thought Morgan and Emilia were. Estella like that Emilia came off as grounded, kind, and overall charismatic. Emilia also made allot of magician jokes, and did a lot of funny tricks in a formal pink stage outfit. A good influence of Morgan’s exceedingly risky quests, for magical discovery. Estella recommended the two of them continue to stay in foster care together. Or if Cetus was approved for guardianship, Emilia be adopted with Morgan. Better yet, get Morgan into a seer program at a magic academy too.
The council wrote back, requesting Estella take the young mage on a mission to capture Cerberus Monafyra. Cerberus was suspected of attempting fratricide and magery. Estella was irritated at how unprofessional it was to not only send a minor on a mission, but that the mission involved finding her ex-boyfriend. There was a tip given that Cerberus was seen in the magic forest of Grand Snow, in the Westlands. A heritage village in a secret magical forest. Cerberus may have been providing medical aid, while in hiding. Because Estella knew Cerberus, and was a savvy detective, she was chosen to check out the lead. The council disregarded Estella’s wishes to not involve Morgan. Their agenda was an attempt to get rid of him as collateral. However, Morgan seemed adamant to go.
“Emilia! Look at this map!” Morgan said opening an old atlas full of crumby maps. “The location me and Estella are going to, is right by the Dragon Gate! I want to see if I can get the dragon stone; It’s the last one! Estella can deal with Cerberus, while I get the goat and go through the gate”.
“You’re nuts. That’s supper dangerous.” Emilia retorted. “Wait, a goat?”
“The mountain goats in Grand Snow are the largest. I can kill one with a magic arrow, and take it with me through the gate if it’s open. It may please the Dragon King.” He explained. This did not make Emilia feel better about Morgan being near a criminal in the middle of nowhere. Not the fact he was sacrificing a goat to a mountain sized dragon.
Cerberus was rumored to had gone dark, and thus have dark hair and violet eyes. Which made Cerberus presumed dead after the incident, which saddened his older brother Ursus Monafyra and mother Melida Daigendun, who were both colleagues of Estella. To amplify Cerberus’s magery charges, the counsel scapegoated Ceberus for bewitching a dragon to attack the fountains of youth. Wich had a peaceful community, and attracted tourists. The famous waters were enchanted by the supposedly extinct fountain nymphs who had healing abilities. Many fey professors were outraged about the loss these naiads, rather than the fellow humans who were harmed. Morgan would have to ask The Dragon King, who had no comment on the matter, taking fault for the tragedy.
Cerberus and his familiar, a sugar glider named Achilles, were now feared. Estella, considering her bias and the endangerment of her pupil, refused the councils orders to pursue him. But Morgan said he needed to go to Grand Snow anyway. Estella was so charmed by his enthusiasm, it swayed her to send a letter back to her superiors to accept the quest. She wondered why Morgan wanted to go to Grand Snow, knowing Morgan, she became curious about his intentions.
“What do you seek in Grand Snow?” Estella inquired.
“Um… The Dragon Gate! Maybe killing a goat, with a legendary bow, and giving it to a specific someone for a specific reason.” Morgan murmured. Estella decided to withold judgement; If Morgan was distracted by a quest, it would keep him away from Cerberus. Estella was now confident she could handle Cerberus, if Morgan was safe in the Shadow Veil. She was lead paladin after all.
Once in Grand Snow, Estella warned Morgan about Cerberus before they entered the magic forest. Morgan seemed to know exactly where he was going however. Along the hike, Estella caught sight of Cerberus, and left Morgan’s side to apprehend him. Cerberus looked terrified, and he used harmless spells to ward off Estella as she cased him. Morgan used blackboard chalk from his pocket, to draw a diagram on the side of a tree, to summon the unbreakable casters bow, to casually hunt a nearby mountain goat. He then began climbing the mountain to the Dragon Gate, in complete serenity.
Cerberus, seeing Morgan as a potential witness, went after him. Estella, immediately jumped to protect Morgan. Cerberus and Estella began dueling, attempting to stall each other to get at Morgan first. Their half-hearted back and forth of stunning charms, was but background noise to the boy, who was dripping in goat blood as he stepped onto the Dragon Gate, and disappearing into the veil. Cerberus regrated opening it. Cerberus, witnessing Morgan walk into the ether, went after him and also vanished. Estella reported that she stood there for twenty minutes, deciding if she should follow. Something from within the gate seemed to call to her while she waited. When Morgan and Icarus returned on the gate, Morgan smiled, absolutely shivering and filthy, and showed Estella a stone with a simple rune for ‘torch’ carved into it.
“Turns out, I had all the Kingdom Stones all along.” he laughed.
“So that’s what you were doing?” stella said without emotion, hiding her rage.
“Oh, and Cerberus is locked in the shadow veil. I asked the Beast Kings to rough him up a little, since he’s a criminal and all. Maybe report that he was never here? He might be a mage given how comfortable he was in there.” Morgan suggested. Estella liked the idea. Cerberus was solved, and Morgan was fine. Perhaps a white lie would be enough to soothe everyone at headquarters.

Amadeus Rosethorn, in fairy robes; He’s an all grown up professional travel paladin!
Tale 17: Calliope Cwenfyre, Amadeus and Andromada Rosethorn (chapter 2 - Amadeus 2/5) part 3. Stories of True Love
self harm
Amadeus Rosethorn was a fair boy from a wealthy wizard family. The wealth came from the large property of Rosethorn manor, and its magic garden, in which homed rare and exclusive plant fey for centuries. The traditions of watering, singing, gathering, and preparing these botanical treasures, was a long running family tradition that effected the whole magic community. Amadeus was the only heir of the Rosethorn manor; As his mother was the only remaining owner of the assets, and did not want more children.
Though born in the Grand West, his half Far South heritage would make one suspect Amadeus, and his father Gemini, to look far more different than they were. Unlike his father however, Amadeus was born a pale as snow without having to go dark. No magic charge was required to change his colours to the nearly unnatural; Which should have been the first sign he was a mage. His father, Gemini Wintersleep, was the witch of the magical forest village of Pepperidge, in the Grand West. Gemini got his magical political position by local recomendation, as he was well known and liked. Amadeus was a single child, with prestigious parents, and a lot of expectations to live up to.
Amadeus’s mother wanted him to marry a girl who was also in a magic house; and he never quite knew why. It came with extracurricular grooming, to give heritage tours of the property, manage finances, please the tree fey, and have proper formal etiquette. His mother obsessively raised Amadeus in hopes he would be a responsible owner of the old property, that supplied the world with rare magic herbs. If he wasn’t a capable successor, Rosethorn manor would be claimed as heritage site, by the government of The Grand West. Which was a group of wizards that did not know how to care for it properly. But Amadeus’s life on Rosehtorn manor was about to get better. When Amadeus was six, his aunt Tchichi and cousin Rah, moved in from the Far South. They were refugees, as his uncle was being abusive. This gave Amadeus a sibling, but no escape from his mother’s form of love. She wanted him well off; even more then he already was. He was not spoiled, because Gemini refuted his mother’s wishes to give him needless niceties, and though Amadeus should know what things are worth. And be vaccinated. In general, Amadeus became a balanced nobleman, and knew what he was worth. Financially and globally.
At thirteen, Amadeus was unaware of how bad the pressure to be the next Rosthorn owner bothered him. Desiring control, as he could not determine his future, Amadeus began to take his feelings out on an awkward boy he passed while biking around the Capitol. Amadeus had been sent to study magic at the acclaimed paladin academy of the Grand West. Only the best for for his mother’s little boy. Unknown to Amadeus, the boy he bullied was rejected, or more prevented, from attending magic school like him. This was Morgan Cyendom. Amadeus would go to no end to prank or ridicule Morgan, about his magical failure and crushed dreams; usually while taunting him, by using magic in front of him. Amadeus would intervein Morgan’s yearning to visit the wizard markets, almost daily. They kept crossing paths outside magic districts. Unknown to Amadeus, Morgen went home, after an entire day of ridicule, to a mundane bungalow to be beaten roughly for being tardy, as his family assumed, he had been around magic. Morgan was not allowed to use magic, as a family tragedy made his parents to fear magic; and thus, his safety around it. Over time, violence was used as a deterrent.
Meanwhile, Amadeus would go home on the weekends, to the luxurious Rosethorn Manor; It had two large magical courtyard gardens, back and front, which homed the precious mythical flora. The black marble block walls surrounding the property, were topped with rose engraved gothic pearl spikes, and matching front gate. The mansion was also black: wood stain, tiles, carpet, flooring, and wallpaper. The exception being accents in each room that where white, such as: furniture, floor bords, window frames, curtains, and rails. Amadeus resided with his loving parents, aunt, and caousin; and there was lots of room for everybody. Amadeus and his cousin Rah might of well have been twins, given how close they were. Inside this beautiful heirloom, it was safe and wonderous; the exact opposite of Morgan’s situation at the time. When Amadeus or Morgan went home, Morgan said nothing about his bully or going near magic. And Amadeus didn’t mention how he loathed his life’s expectations, and how it led to him tormenting a stranger. However, when his parents found out, Amadeus was expelled from the paladin academy, and placed in the troubled youth and international magic school, outside his home village.
In third year, at his local magic school, Amadeus saw Morgan again. thus, he attempted yet again to taunt him. Morgan seemed to have arrived in classes out of nowhere. It was rumored Morgan had disappeared for about two years, and was placed in the academy by the government. He also brought a lovely lady, Emilia, and his cousin Regina; both of which limited Amadeus’s opportunities to get at Morgan. Morgan now had a familiar, a girlfriend, and was attending the same classes as Amadeus. Morgan quickly became the school’s top seer, and proved himself capable with a sword, and communing with fey. It provoked Amadeus. Falling in love with Scarlet Stankild, who was a lovely heartman with a Dalmatian familiar, and being the school’s top paladin, was not enough. Amadeus was convinced he was not worthy of his family’s fortune or prestige; even if in the back of Amadeus’s mind, he knew he was loved regardless of his accomplishments. Amadeus was at an age where comparison is a plague. Amadeus wanted a familiar, be able to use impressive spells, and have a good reputation like his parents. He felt like Morgan was getting ahead. This poor quiet boy Amadeus ridaculed in the capitol, was on par with his years of training and work. Amadeus was livid. Then, Morgan turned out to be a mage; a person in a magic house, who are born with more magic flow, that wield old, powerful, and forbidden magic.
“That boy at the academy is wearing me down.” Gemini said at dinner. “This Morgan Cyendom, who is a mage; making my job incredibly difficult. Even if he is just another troubled student, and only a seer that restores ancient books, I don’t want dangerous magic in my community; Though I respect his talent. The government is breathing down my neck, as the Grand West can’t sweep this under the rug.”
“You usually don’t disclose work details; this must be a really big deal. I wonder how his family feels…” Amadeus’s mother said. Everyone turned to Amadeus.
“He should be in your year Amadeus. Best you stay away from him for now. The witches want him isolated in Pepperidge, at the academy; to give him an education and support that may prevent him from becoming corrupt and dangerous. Which is likely from what I’ve read.” Gemini said. Amadeus thought he had material to work with; information to pull himself above his rival. Magery was cheating and punishable.
After school one day, Amadeus followed Morgan onto Tiberius Gate, which was just down road from the academy. Morgan had opened Tiberius Gate, and now lived on the gate with his uncle, aunt, and cousin. Amadeus stalked Morgan right into the epicenter of the magic forest, for one more chance to snap at Morgan in private. Just before the tower’s steps, Morgan turned around.
“Why are you following me?” He asked. Morgan was connected to the gate after opening it, and thus felt anyone who was on it. Morgan remembered Amadeus, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. This interaction turned out to be nothing like what either of them were expecting, or intending. Amadeus began to shout and point at Morgan, but his words went from malice to tears.
“Why do you get a familiar? A girlfriend! Powerful magic! An entire magic forest! Two legendary lost swords, by just summoning them! You’re an incompetent, scraggly, worthless wizard! How does a nerdy bookworm, who has never been to magic school, achieve all this! To come to this school, even when you practice dark magic, makes me disgusted. My dad should have Master paladin Melida Daigandun, or Estella Celestine, arrest you! But instead, the Grand West forces him to hide you here. Why do you get those things so effortlessly!?!?!” Amadeus yelled. Most would expect Amadeus to be calm and eloquent, like a spoiled brat, but instead he was in tears of defeat. It would be fair to assume that Morgan would confront this intruder without mercy, yet instead, he put a comforting palm on Amadeus’s shoulder.
“You don’t need a familiar, or be a mage, to be a powerful wizard and paladin. You already are one. I had no idea you were so upset; Is that why you were so mean? Your family must have put a lot of pressure on you to fit a mold, and accept your family inheritances. It didn’t take long for me to hear about it; I wasn’t stalking or anything. Actually, I hear a lot of good things about you; it’s kind of sad you don’t see it.” Morgan said. In all those years Amadeus had tormented him, Morgan had never once wanted to, or did, fight back.
“Want to meet a beast king?” Morgan asked, in a chipper tone. He stood up and reached out to Amadeus with a smile.
“What?” Amadeus said.  He had no clue what a beast king was. Before he could ask, Morgan had grabbed his wrist, and pulled him across Tiberius Gate toward a wolf statue. This work of art was a door that led into the shadow veil. The numb gray ether of Ealden Cyndom that is made of, and is the source of, all magic.
“You said in fey studies, you liked the tree and wolf kingdoms right? Eobreth the Aliki Wolf you see me with sometimes, is the eldest prince of the Wolf King; and my first fey friend! He knows a thing or two about the hunt! The symbol for the wolf kingdom in the rune for hero or king warrior. You might like to meet the Wolf King; since you want to be a great warrior and noble.” Morgan said.
To Amadeus’s surprise, he felt no fear. While common folk or wizards would panic and curdle in the submersion of the shadow veil, mages found it comforting and calm. To them it was like a depravation tank. Looking up, Amadeus saw a giant armored wolf, which Morgan introduced as the Wolf King. The Wolf King was so large, with such a booming growl, and grand shining armor, it was terrifyingly radiant. Morgan then began introducing Amadeus as an acquaintance. Amadeus began to panic in confusion; he was certain Morgan and himself were supposed to hate each other. Yet, Morgan appeared to be doing him a favour. Amadeus barely heard what the Wolf King said. The shadow veil became the least of his concerns.
“A boy mage like you, from a house of the tree kingdom, is before me wishing to be a grand hero? Come here, I will give you something special to me, that will give you better control of your magic; and give you the ability to transform into one of my children. You will have their abilities and magic as well.” He growled. “You need only make a pact with a wolf child. I think it should be a moon serval. I made these children from my essence, to be guardians of weary travelers; it would suit you well! In a pact with my child, you will oath to let my brother King Mage Morgan be your friend, and guard those you love well. Be careful though; if a fey dies inside the warg mage who is enfeyed with it, will die too. Do not be burdened by grief, or betray your pact.” The Wolf King proposed.
In awe, and not objecting to the offer, Amadeus irrationally agreed to the pact. As the king said, being imbued, or enfeyed, with the magic of a consenting contracted fey, made a person a warg; someone who could turn into a fey at will. It also gave them properties of that fey and more magic to work with. It was a kingly gift to a paladin. When they returned to the day veil, Amadeus thanked Morgan.
“How can I ever repay you? After all I’ve done to you. I am in your favor, and a paladin at your side in any quest. I am so sorry for treating you poorly; I do not deserve your kindness.” Amadeus said.
“It’s ok Amadeus. I know bullies only lash out because they hurt too. I was never mad, I had bigger things to deal with,” Morgan shrugged. “Guess this means we’ll be friends at school tomorrow?” Morgan laughed. Amadeus nodded yes.
Morgan and Amadeus had been friends for a few months; and in that time, they had talked to each other about their lives and troubles. They both turned out to need that. Amadeus had also begun to pick up some magery, now that he knew he was one. Morgan had all the resources he needed. But the whole time, Amadeus felt a particular ache in his heart after learning Morgan’s full story. At lunch break, Amadeus saw scars on Morgan’s forearms during an arm-wrestle with his cousin Reggie. Amadeus was shocked in guilt. His friend Morgan, that he once bullied every day, was being beaten and deprived of his dreams at the same time. Morgan needed help, and Amadeus had no clue. When Morgan needed a friend most, Amadeus was making his life worse. He was bullying a broken man shamelessly. If he had known, he would have been that friend. Amadeus’s apology to Morgan was well received, but did not provide the closure Amadeus needed. Now he felt like a terrible friend.
When Amadeus went home for the weekend, he found Rosethorn manor occupied by his family and friends. His dad was a good host, and these fancy parties were nothing new. In fact, Amadeus used to like them; that’s how he met Scarlet. His father was at the door to greet him when he walked in.
“Son, you look so sad. It’s your birthday, and I organized you a nice little party. What’s wrong?” Gemini asked. Amadeus had forgotten it was his birthday; being so focused on his guilt.
“Oh, that’s why there are so many people here. I guess I forgot. I have a lot of things going on.” Amadeus said.
“I know. I hear from Rah you have been doing well in school, and made some new friends. I’m glad he changed his mind, and decided to peruse magic with you.” Gemini smiled. This did not make Amadeus feel any better. His mother intervened, and rushed Amadeus upstairs to his room. She was so frenzied she didn’t notice Amadeus could have used a hug.
Upstairs, His mother showed him to his room. On his bed were his heirloom fairy robes, white and black, and styled for a mage of the tree kingdom.
“I think your big enough to wear these now! Happy birthday Amadeus.” She said hugging him. Amadeus loved them; he had waited years to receive them. They were authentic, and were thus likely made by the Fairy King, for a mage ancestor. But looking in the mirror, no matter how perfect they were, all he saw was someone of privilege who was a terrible friend.
Gemini went upstairs to check on Amadeus; he was taking so long to get dressed, and looked unwell when he went to change. Gemini found Amadeus crying in front of the mirror in his room.
“What’s wrong? Your robes look lovely, and we’re about to have dinner. Do you need to talk first?” Gemini said, sitting on the bed and making a spot for Amadeus. His mother had been called downstairs after helping Amadeus put on the robes. And Gemini returned to see how his son was holding up. Amadeus leaned in, and gave a sigh.
“I hate myself. I am a terrible friend. My friend Morgan said I am a mage too; and we get along so well, yet it feels so fake after all the time I spent bullying him. And now it’s like he forgives me; he even took me to the Wolf King to become enfayed, and be a better paladin. I don’t deserve it. I care about him now, but the damage is already done; and it’s partially my fault. I could have done something. I could have been there for him.” Amadeus cried. Gemini was not impressed; being a wizard of high standing, who was against magery, did not take well to his son’s words. Even if he loved Amadeus. His father had no problems with Amadeus being a warg, but befriending a mage and studying old magic was unacceptable. At his own party, Amadeus’s father reprimanded him by ordering him to sharpen and polish his heirloom sword. Making a child do something harmless they don’t want to, is often enough negative reinforcement for trivial matters.
Amadeus’s mother was a Rosethorn, but Rah and his father were in the fairy kingdom house of Wintersleep. The old dull magic blade was incredibly valued by Gemini. Gemini wanted Amadeus was to inherit it, but he knew it should belong to his cousin Rah; who was still a Wintersleep in line to get it. Amadeus was having a terrible day. Then he realized he had been presented with an opportunity; legendary magic weapons are made by warlocks, who are mages. He would need to use magery, in front of his family, to restore the sword.
Having a new friend in Morgan, and irritated at his father’s dismay when he needed support, Amadeus proceeded to use mage methods to restore the blade. Any emotions attached to being a perfect Rosethorn predecessor were put aside. Enfeyed with a wolf child made his senses as sharp as all feline and canine fey; Amadeus used a winter steel tuner, to flick the blade and listen to the vibration of the sword. Like a crystal, the sound of every substance has its own frequency, its own flow of magic. Knowing frequencies was used in alchemy, and identification of magical properties. In school, Amadeus learned to recognized the sounds. The sword was also winter steel. Reading the runic, he determined the maker, and identified the blade by a few database searches of the digitized ancient books Morgan had translated. The blade could only be sharpened in a specific way. Warlocks always gave their magic creations intense security measures, to keep anyone who they were not intended for, from using them. Amadeus performed the following with some help from Rah:
“To sharpen and use this blade that turns all it cuts clean to ice, and I name the Is Sabre of wintersleep; must place it in a transmuted silver basin lined with the names of the winter beast kings along the inner rim, and filled with water transmuted by magic men. Then add the blood of one to inherit it as they sing the song of the frozen lake under a full moons light. As they watch it freeze, and its basin melt. Upon the last note the ice will break, and the heir may pull the blade from its icy sheath; restored once more to original form, power and glory.”
Amadeus handed the sword in mint condition to his father, and walked away from his own birthday party, with Rah and Scarlet. They then proceeded to the tower on Tiberius Gate, to spend the rest of his birthday with Morgan, Reggie and Emilia. He would rather be playing teen party games, then sitting in a room of adults talking about politics. Amadeus never let go of the regret he felt for torturing Morgan, nor his oath to protect his friends as a paladin. He wanted to there for  all their quests.
Amadeus would tell this tale to Calliope, and his daughter Andromada, when he babysat for Morgan and Emilia. Calliope was Amadeus’s favourite out of Morgan’s four children; because she was the most like her father. Calliope had that sparkle, that reminded Amadeus why Morgan was his best friend. It reminded him of his dreams, oaths, and gratitude. Morgan and Calliope had the same precious glimmer of wonder, curiosity, and kindness, that needs to be protected and nurtured.

FAQ: The Beast Kings
When reading some editor notes, I discovered I may not of been clear about the fey kingdoms and beast kings…..
What are the beast kings?
The beast kings are incarnations of magic. They are the source of magic, made of magic, and make each individual fey from their magic.
They do not have to be male. King is a rank. The same applies to queens. Heteronormativity does often apply, but doesn’t have to.
There are ten, one for each fey kingdom. They can only make fey associated with their kingdom. They have a specific order based on how powerful their fey and magic is. They are as follows:
·        Dragon kingdom (dragons and reptilian fey)
·        Fairy kingdom (self explanatory)
·        Raven kingdom (avian fey)
·        Stag kingdom (ungulate fey)
·        Wolf kingdom (canid, ursine, and feline fey)
·        Tree kingdom (magical plants)
·        Fish kingdom (sea and water dwelling fey)
·        Stone kingdom (cave or mountain dwelling fey)
·        Rat kingdom (rabbit, weasel and rodent fey)
·        Monkey kingdom (primate fey)
It is worth noting each Beast king has a personality similar to their kingdom’s animal or fey.
Where are the beast kings?
They live in the Shadow Veil. They can leave, but often don’t. Thus, causing the shadow veil to be made of magic and the source of magic. This is why the shadow veil can’t be seen in the day veil. Magic is not tangible or visible, and sits as an ether suspended in the world. Thus, a gate needs to be made to summon the shadow veil/go into it.
Beast kings, queens, and royal fey do not need gates to travel between ethers/veils; but humans and regular fey do.
What do the beast kings look like?
Beast king’s have two forms: a beast/animal form, and a human form.
A king’s beast form is easier to be in as it is the natural form. They are essentially a giant version of whatever their fey kingdom is, but slightly bedazzled.
The dragon king is a mountain sized white dragon. The stag king is house sized elk with flowered antlers. The stone king is a mountain. The rat king is a car sized rat. The Raven king is a red eyed dinosaur sized raven with shinny adornments.  The tree king a rainbow crowned pear tree bigger than a red wood. The monkey king is a golden coloured Baboon the size of an elephant. The fish king is a teal and sea foam coloured mermaid the size of a tug boat. Wolf king in an elephant sized grey wolf with armor.  The Fairy King is an ice queen like six-winged giant-sized fairy.
Human Form is harder for the beast kings to maintain, but is used to approach humans and to talk understandably by anything. Their human form is taller than an average man, and looks halfway between a human and their beast form, making them unsettling.
Do the beast kings and queens have names?
Yes. The beast king’s names aren’t to be told and only the king mage knows them. The queens are given a fey name by their beast king once they are wed. each kingdom has a naming convention; in which each kingdom has a specific suffix (listed below with IPA). Otherwise all fey and queens are called by nick names based on the first part of their fey names.
Fey names are given by the beast kings and can be used to summon or control a fey. Fey only give their full fey names to people they trust most.  Even than, fey are seldom called by the full version of their name. some fey are always referred by their fey name by preference.
eg. )       Bandrel (fey name), -[ɛl] suffix = fairy kingdom, “Banndie” =referred name
Wyverndor (fey name), -[dor] suffix = stone kingdom, “Wyvern” = referred name
Makatchthis (fey name), -[Is] Suffix =raven kingdom, “Matcha” = referred name
Pameathelon (fey name), -[on] suffix = tree kingdom, “Pam” = referred name
Quellelethan (queen fey name), -[ɑn] suffix = dragon kingdom, “Quelleleth” = referred name
Cristanin (fey name), -[in] = stag kingdom, “Crista” = referred name
Brocid (fey name), -[Id] = fish kingdom, “Brook” = referred name
Eobreth (fey name), -[ɛθ] = wolf kingdom, “Eobre” = referred name
Miquide (fey name), -[de] = Rat kingdom, “Marqui” = referred name
aluth (fey name), -[uθ] = Monkey kingdom, “Ali” =referred name
How do beast kings Apply to the table/rule of fours?
Each kingdom is placed in a quadrant of the table of fours; with the top four kingdoms being placed on an axis. The fey of that kingdom will have properties that align with their placement on the table.
See this post for a visual of the table of fours--à
They are placed as such
·        Green: (spring, nature, East, Lead)
o   Stag(East axis) and Fish
·        Yellow: (Summer, fire, South, gold)
o   Dragon(Axis), Rat, and Monkey
·        Red: (Autumn, wind, West, Iron)
o   Raven (Axis) and Tree
·        Blue: (Winter, water, North, silver)
o   Fairy (Axis), wolf and stone
Why are kingdoms associated with specific nations/lands?
Each nation has an associated fey kingdom based on what kingdom gate is in that nation.  A kingdom gate is a gate to the shadow veil that transports directly to the fey kingdom in the shadow veil. Directly where that kingdom’s king, queen and fey live. (eg. Far North = Wolf gate = Wolf kingdom location in shadow veil)
Kingdoms in the shadow veil are not the same location of the gate in the day veil. magic doesn’t care about human constructed boarders.
Kingdom gates are associated with magical forests that are predominantly inhabited by that kingdoms fey. This is because gates allow fey to cross in and out of the veil, and magic can seep out of one.
Why are fey referred too as “children”?
The Fey of a kingdom are referred to, by the beast Kings and Queens, as their children. This is because fey are made, raised, named and loved by the king and queen of their kingdom. Royal fey are “big siblings”, and regular fey are “Little siblings.” Fey of other kingdoms are “cousins”. Beast kings and queens are referred to by mages and fey as mother and father of their respective kingdom.
What are Beast Queens?
Each beast king has a queen. This occurs when a beast king, like any other fey, becomes infatuated. Beast kings and royal fey can only love a mage. If the mage reciprocates their love, upon true loves kiss, the human mage in enfeyed with the beast kings magic; thus, adopting the beast king’s powers but remaining human. They are very powerful and can still do mage magic.
Beast Queens also have beast forms and human forms. The human form is easier to maintain then their beast form unlike the beast kings, because they are human.
Beast forms of the queens include: The dragon queen is a soft white dragon that can change size. The tree queen is tall glass crowned birch. The wolf queen is a giant white wolf. The raven queen is a skull headed four winged white raven. The Stag queen is a large unicorn. The rock queen is a person made of crystal. The monkey queen is an armored baboon. The rat queen is a large white rabbit with a crystal necklace. The fish Queen can turn into a giant koi in water. The fairy queen is also a tall person with six crystal fairy wings and a crown of ice.
The Queens offer support to tehir spouses and mages, and also caring for their fey “children.” They also produce Royal fey/heirs.
Can a beast king die?
Yes. If a beast king dies, because they are made of magic, and the fey are made of their magic; Their entire kingdom disappears. Any royal fey and their Queen’s will return to being human mages.
If a beast king’s royal fey becomes infatuated with a mage and their love requited with a kiss, the mage becomes queen in waiting, and if the beast king dies the royal fey and their betrothed mage will become the new beast king and queen of that kingdom respectively. Thus, the Kingdom can be rebuilt.
What are Royal Fey?
Royal fey/ heirs/older siblings, are Fey born from love between a beast king and queen. Therefore, they are half human and half magic. They also have a beast form and a human form. It is courteous to be in human form when around humans in the day veil. They may also act as magical ambassadors or just be good big siblings to their kingdoms fey.
This means they have personalities and ranges of emotion and behaviour like a human. But abilities of the beast kings. They also have to grow because they are born instead of summoned. They are not Royal fey are usually white and gold in colour, and are whatever their kingdom is. Additionally, because they are born, they are very rare. They are as follows:
Cynedom Dragons, Earden/Acadian Faries, Richen ravens/griminthropes, Dominion deer, Terralith trees, Acrean Gimms, Aliki Wolves, Hamman Ferrets, leguid mermaids, Holten monkeys.
