Joyce staying at the cabin with Hopper and El to keep them safe bc no one in Hawkins knows they’re alive. Will, Jonathan and Argyle staying at the Wheeler's bc they have more room and presumably aren't in danger like the others.

OH WAIT there's a witch hunt for the Hellfire club, which means all the boys are in danger from the townspeople. OH WAIT the boy who came back to life has returned from the West, the same boy whose assumed death jumpstarted this small town's curse in the first place! The same boy who apparently everyone and their fathers knew was gay...

THE END IS NEAR! THE GAYS ARE RESPONSIBLE!

+ Time jump early somewhere in between.

Now picture how that would look in an 8 episode story format, leading up to a final battle lasting about 2+ hrs, and that's loosely how s5 is gonna go down.

#byler #enter satanic panic #enter religious imagery #enter small town blaming the apocalypse on two boys falling in love #NO but deadass... #I could see a gradual realization in 5x01 #with them making a plan but then realizing it wont work bc townspeople are hunting down members of hellfire #the whistleblower for the hellfire club in the eyes of the town was jason #and now jason has been found dead #and before he died he told the townspeople that members of hellfire club were protecting eddie... #jason basically signed all of hellfire clubs death certificates #now that citizens are seeing real life impacts as a result of what jason said was caused by these kids playing dnd... #that they're now working for the devil himself #shit is going to get bleak af... #it could get so bleak that something horrible happens instigating a time jump early on #the duffers have said s5 is pretty quick in motion with continuing the events directly after vol 2 #but then they imply that there is a shift after those first two eps... #so i think it's likely we're getting at time jump in time for 5x03 #putting the rest of the season post time jump and preparing for the ultimate final battle #that is my guesstimation at this time

Very Inchresting that Doc Salazar was actually the cardiologist for Eddie, Chim, Hen, and Buck but it was only with Eddie and Buck that her expertise veered into matters of the metaphorical heart rather than the literal heart.

She warned Eddie against repressing his traumas in 501 and she led with encouraging Buck to appreciate what he has in 612. With Hen and Chim in 517 it was all strictly business ie she focused on their literal hearts not really their emotions.

This drives home the fact that the heart metaphor with Buck and Eddie is real af and on another level. The contrast between Buddie and Hen-Chim really sets Buddie apart in matters of the heart.

Even tho it's a motw, Buffy vs. Dracula confirms a lot of fundamental facts about Buffy:

slaying gets her off and she enjoys it

indulging her slayer side is something she wants to do but feels like she'll be judged for by her friends and family for it

she wants to and enjoys being bitten by a vampire in a sexy way/has a biting kink

she has a vampire kink

she wants to know more about being the slayer but again, feels like she shouldn't bc she might be judged, as well as her thinking it makes her Bad or Wrong bc that's a "darker" part of herself and therefore "Wrong" (tho by the end of the ep she does explicitly acknowledge knowing more will be good for her. Yay progress!)

her "true nature" is something she already is living, she's just repressed about it; she recognizes her own darkness but doesn't want to acknowledge it out of fear of not fitting the "normal girl" role she expected herself to fill/her friends expect her to fill

5x01 is such a solid episode, but i think it could've been split into two or maybe even three eps. everything with clarke was perfect. but with the space crew all the development happened off screen, and so many of the problems of s5 could've been solved by expanding that more. i loved watching their dynamic together, i could get a full or even a half episode of that. i just wish we could've seen how we got there!

the pacing after 5x03 is so slow, so i think splitting up 5x01 could've helped with that a bit.

9-1-1 is great and all (would argue definitely less “great” and more just “good” over the last couple seasons but w/e), but Buck’s storylines ever since the shooting at the end of season 4 have been all over the place and shoddy tbh.

#idek what they’re trying to do with him anymore #it’s like they’ve realized he’s essentially the ‘main character’ of the show #and they’ve been scrambling trying to find a compelling storyline and romantic arc for him ever since #his whole relationship with taylor in season 5 was just… awful #and drug on for way way wayyyyy too long #yk usually with most romantic arcs they try to show the compelling and good parts of the relationship at the beginning #but they just… never really did that? #they had that one scene in 5x01 where they were happy sort of but even that got interrupted by taylor’s work #they started planting the seeds of their relationship being problematic just way too early #and proceeded to make the audience suffer through it the entire season lmao #and then the shit with lucy which was just really confusing? #like idk what the whole point of that was #i think she was supposed to make buck let loose but outside of 5x11 that just… didn’t happen? #and then of course there was the sperm donor storyline where they sl early decided to change gears randomly mid-season without explanation #and with natalia they seem to be just wasting a golden opportunity to really explore buck’s relationship with death but they abandoned+ #all that in the last ep for whatever reason??? #so i don’t think they have a fucking clue what they want to do with him #and it’s pretty infuriating to watch them trying and failing to figure it out in real time #ngl i think i’m ready to be done with this show after monday lol #i’ll probably continue to follow it from a distance during s7 maybe? #but with buddie essentially being dead and the writing getting more and more spotty over time #i just don’t think i have it in me to care anymore #plus based on what i understand about the actors’ contracts it’s hard to imagine they’re going to get anymore than 7 seasons so! #i’m ready to jump off this sinking ship methinks! #anyway
