One of the funniest things about Miraculous is how much harder Marinette hides her identity than Adrien. Like in Kwamibuster, Marinette has to use illusion magic and fake messing up to get rid of any suspicion, meanwhile Chat just gets the type of school they go to wrong and that works just fine.

And it actually makes sense because in Chat Blanc we see that Adrien is very ready to accept that Marinette is Ladybug but in Ephermal Marinette struggles to accept that Adrien is Chat Noir

One thing that is worse than the train incident is Marinette's actions in ephermal. She saw the Chat Blanc timeline and was specifically warned that she and Chst could not learn each other's identities. She came up with a complicated plan to satisfy Su Han, but still keep herself in the dark, but once she saw a chance to get with Adrien she threw it away. This is worse than the traain because

At most Chloe risked hundreds Marinette risked billions

Chloe was not in the best state of mind

Chloe didn't fully understand the risk because she thought she could easily stop the train. Marinette visited the Chat Blanc timeline.

I suppose you could argue that Marinette thought things would be different that time, but it's really weird how she didn't even get to remember what happened like in "Cat Blanc".

There is a ghost staring you down from across a dune.

You're no stranger to the paranormal, of course, but this one's different.

Hallucinations, you think. Your mind finally broke, you think.

(An absence of life or joy is all it takes for a place to be haunted. Haunted by memory. Haunted by the past. Haunted by the future. There are many ways to haunt and be haunted, but this one.. this ghost's not see-through, not yet. In fact, he's quite opaque, and he'll remain so for the next couple of months.)

(But you don't know that yet. Right now, you are here, there is a fire behind your back, your sister is next to you, and there is a ghost staring at you.)

You blink hard, flippantly dismiss the inevitable. Just a random husk or something. (Not entirely wrong.) Try to ignore the betrayal that blooms in your chest at those words. Even if he was- even if he were a true ghost- you'd never say those words and mean it.

There is a ghost. Behind the dune. Staring. Your sister asks who he is. There is no response, but you both know. She says his name. You wait for something, any sort of response, but there is none.

You get up, walk over, just to prove to yourself: if my hand passes through him then it will all be gone by the morning. (You will have felt like you had lost a brother. You're not a stranger to that feeling either.) And if your hand collides with his arm, if flesh touches living flesh-

It collides.

You are now hugging a ghost. (Different than what you thought a ghost could ever be, stuck in some ephermal purgatorial middle ground, but still very much a ghost.)

The dune is still there. Staring.

There is a ghost of a man who's died twice. You knew him once. You sit him down besides the fire. You continue eating dinner.

The piece reads through several layers of irony, the first being that the character Equius is known as a chaste and proper character who would have valued virginity. Crabmail’s formal choice to capture this moment and display the image in a group chat alludes to a shared moment that will stay but ultimately be left in the past. red hibiscus flowers symbolize ephermality and are symbols of opportunity. while often used for the representation of joy and romantic passion, the hibiscus flower is a symbolic stand in for living life in the moment. larys’ motives have always been a mystery, but i think the usage of flower symbolism (as well as larys’ personal sigil being a firefly) gives us some insight into what larys’ motivations actually are. the idea that larys doesn’t have some grand master plan but is just acting impulsively living his life by each moment.
