John Martin was born in 1789 in Haydon Bridge, England, to a poor family living in a one-room cottage. At age fourteen, he studied heraldic painting as a coachbuilder’s apprentice - later on he earned his living as a glassmaker - in 1812 he decided to independently work as a painter and soon gained popularity.

Rammentò il triste splendore delle gemme in cui si condensavano le anime delle Messi che l’Ordine non poteva mietere agli dei: sapeva che anche Chastar ne doveva aver vista una, otto anni prima, ma sperava che non ricordasse tanto dettagliatamente quel momento della cerimonia. Dietro di sé, poteva avvertire la cupa energia che si sprigionava dal nipote: Chastar era nervoso e sofferente, e il suo turbamento era chiaramente sensibile – segno che, se lo percepiva lui, anche il Legato non poteva non accorgersene. Del resto, forse non era la sola cosa che il Cavaliere aveva notato: con la facilità che proviene all’atleta da una lunga pratica di fatiche, Ruthgar imprigionò nel suo animo l’inquietudine che il ricordo delle parole di Rathamanthis gli suscitava. «Voi siete sempre un passo avanti», aveva detto: del resto, se era parte del Disegno, anche il Legato non poteva opporvisi. Viceversa, Ruthgar era pronto ad assumersi le sue responsabilità. Egli era, in fondo, un guerriero, così come lo era il Legato; così come, non ne dubitava, sarebbe stato anche Chastar.”

Weald & Woe - For the Good of the Realm

Another brand new release from Black Metal Group Weald & Woe. This thing has such an epic overall feeling. Some cool folk influences on a few of the tracks and definitely feels invested in the fantasy aesthetic. This thing reminds me of playing Elden ring for the first time and storming Castle Morne for the first time as the giant shot this car sized arrows at me. Just an incredibly epic fantasy album.

On top of that this isn’t nearly as one note as some of these fantasy black metal albums can be. Each song does a great job at not only switching up the speed or composition but also each song feels like it’s own story or journey. This is absolutely a wonderful melodic black metal album to fall into.
