so lemme get this straight. Hunter is:
pining hard
living in the bar
has not left it in years (presumably since some Emotional TraumaTM)
knows everything about the bar
has perfected the art of conveniently appearing anywhere he wants inside the bar
terrorises irreverent patrons
and finally,
his bar will catch fire soon
he's- he's just a prettier phantom of the opera Rendezvous, isn't he.

Okay, I promised a writeup of Luo Binghe voter fraud meme, and as Luo Binghe is currently in the finals of the poll this happened on, I figure now's a good time.
So! It all started when Luo Binghe, our beloved half-demon child, was submitted to @/hybrid-battle tournament - or rather, as it was called at the time, @half-being-battle. He won his first poll easily enough, but round 2 was a close battle where he and his opponent, Shantae from eponymous game, took the lead from one another a few times.
In the last ~12 hours, Binghe was losing slightly after a popular blog rb'd the poll with a call to vote for Shantae. However, SVSSS fandom caught this in time and passed the poll around some more. The poll ended with Luo Binghe winning with 51% of votes - or, as simple calculation will reveal, 14 votes lead.
We breathed out a collective sigh of relief, but too soon - as half a day later, someone sent this ask:
Tumblr media
(x)
Initially the pollrunner wasn't intending to do anything about it, but then someone suggested a teamup option, and the poll for the option was made (x). It was rb'd by some SVSSS fans with the general sentiment of 'free our boy he did nothing wrong', but didn't gain real traction until:
@gaywarcriminals reblogged it with a small rant in Binghe's defense
@piosplayhouse rb'd said rant with addition of the image from vol.3 cover, of Shen Qingqiu holding Luo Binghe's hand, edited to look like SQQ is the one saying the text above.
This version of the post was circulated in fandom overnight, leading to 'Luo Binghe moves on alone' option winning by a large margin - and, ofc, to the birth of "Luo Binghe voter fraud" meme.
Though aside from this particular post being funny, there was another factor contributing to the meme catching on: how damn in-character it all was. The following sentiments were all repeated more than once in the post's notes:
Luo Binghe getting accused of crimes he didn't commit? Omg just like in canon!
Shen Yuan would absolutely buy bots to get his most beloved blorbo to win an internet poll.
It's just Luo Binghe's protagonist halo!
All of which made the situation fucking hilarious.
Then, the next day, tumblr user verycharismaticdragon (whoever they might be 😉) made some fanart about it, which possibly aided the spread of the meme too.
Also, SVSSS fandom surprised the mod with our chillness 😅
Tumblr media
(x)
Since then, Binghe has been going strong in that poll - and now, he's in the finals! So make sure to vote for him; as we all know now, the real voter fraud is the friends we made along the way. And I do recommend checking Luo Binghe's tag on the poll for some fun propaganda we've been making, including a family tree by Pio and some more art by yours truly <3
But wait! There was also another layer to the voter fraud iceberg. The tl;dr:
Tumblr media
At about the same time Luo Binghe vs Shantae ended, Hua Cheng was losing in round 1 of @/the-ghost-bracket, with something like 39% of votes to his name. In a desperate move, I linked his poll under my bingqiu voter fraud art, which gave him a boost to get close to a tie, but didnt flip the poll. The next day, I was explaining the LBH voter fraud meme to my friends, and mentioned Hua Cheng's poll too - which was when inspiration struck me, resulting in...
this post. [ID: art of Xie Lian with a wooden board which reads "Puqi shrine accepting donations in the form of votes for Hua Cheng in the ghost bracket", captioned "please help dianxia, he doesn't have the money for voter fraud"] Which gave the poll enough visibility for Hua Cheng to win with over 62% of votes in the end. (The link in the post is currently changed to round 2 poll, which HC was also initially losing. Srsly besties we gotta follow the tourneys to get our babygirls to win!)
So: LBH voter fraud meme had even helped little bro Huahua out.
And thats about it! Since then, the scum villain fandom has been joking about voter fraud on all of our polls 😂
(Aaaand the last reminder to vote Bingbing in the finals. His opponent has been gaining lately and I think we shouldn't leave it to the protagonist halo this time.)

In Shakespeare's Macbeth, there is a prophecy made to the eponymous Macbeth that "no man of woman born can kill him." Ultimately, Macbeth ends up being killed by MacDuff, who sidesteps the prophecy due to being a C-section baby.
With the wording of this prophecy, it can be said that quite a few fictional characters could, theoretically, kill Macbeth if they wanted to. Several factors could make you exempt from this prophecy: being any gender other than a man; not being conventionally "born"; and birthing parent is not a woman. Here are the three main criteria that will be analyzed for a character:
Gender Clause: A character applies for this Clause when they do not identify with the term "man" in reference to themselves. Inversely, the are disqualified from this Clause if they do identify with the term "man." Since characters' gender identities are rarely looked this far into, it will be assumed that if a character uses strictly he/him pronouns, then he will be disqualified for this Clause by default.
Unconventional Birth Clause: A character applies for this Clause if their inception was done in some way other than a conventional live birth. This could mean they were extracted via c-section, delivered posthumously, hatched from an egg, manually constructed, etc.
Birth Parent Clause: A character applies for this Clause when the person attributed to their creation does not identify with the term "woman." This functions similarly to the way that we handle the Gender Clause.
Unique Exception: This is used for any character with some other loophole, such as being able to canonically change the path of fate.
FAQ under the cut, PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING:
Why isn't there a Species Clause?: A character's species is not taken into account for the "man" portion of the prophecy, as a character of a different species can still identify as a man. Why isn't there an Age Clause?: Unless the character specifically says that they are not a "man," but a "boy," (See: Peter Pan) then a young male character will still be disqualified for the Gender Clause. How would a genderfluid/trans character be counted?: Whether or not a character applies for the Gender Clause is determined by how they personally identify at that specific time. A genderfluid character could kill Macbeth one day, but not the next; a trans woman could kill Macbeth, but a trans man could not. Who runs this blog?: It's just me, one person. I haven't disclosed my main account yet, but another gimmick blog I run is @periodiccompletionist. Could the owner of this blog kill Macbeth?: Yes, I apply for the Gender Clause due to being a demiboy(? it's complicated) who does not identify with the term man. How do I know if a character has been done already?: I tag all submissions with the character's name and associated fandom. A spreadsheet is in the works as well, but that's not yet public. Could [character] kill Macbeth?: This is what the ask box is for! Feel free to submit whoever you want when it's open. Is the ask box open?: Check my bio for ask box status updates. :) I sometimes close it to work through backlog, and have anon turned off to cut down on the amount of asks coming in. Can I submit real people?: Yes, but I will most likely not give an answer in my post; these sorts of details are often highly personal, so I will not be doing research on them for this without their consent. If they're on Tumblr, they can respond to the post itself and give the definitive answer if they so choose. What should I do if I have a correction/rebuttal to a post?: Please do this in a reblog instead of an ask/DM/reply; it makes things much easier for me. My submission didn't get answered. Should I submit it again?: I would strongly advise against it. It's most likely that I didn't answer it for one of the following reasons: I haven't gotten to it yet through the backlog; it's a real person not on Tumblr; the character/media was too difficult to research (I'm not going to be reading/watching through the actual source material, sorry); the character/media makes me personally uncomfortable; or someone has already submitted your character. If you're REALLY curious about what happened to your ask, you can send me a DM and I will give you the reason why or tell you if I didn't receive it. Are you dead?: No, I just have ADHD. Errm, actually, wasn't the prophecy just a trick to fuel Macbeth's hubris?: Great job, you just defeated the entire point of this blog! What the hell do expect me to do with that information? Delete my account?? Ruiner of the spirit. Jarvis, piss this guy's pants. How do you pronounce axolotl?: a-SHOW-loat.
What media properties should I avoid submitting?: Dialtown (makes me uncomfortable), Homestuck (personal reasons), Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss (or anything vivziepop-related), Harry Potter (JK Rowling is a bitch and I'm the only god here), Hi-Fi Rush (want to play; avoiding spoilers), Slay the Princess (want to play; avoiding spoilers), FNAF (you actually can submit this one but be aware that you will not view me the same afterwards also all my homies hate Scott Cawthon)

Ghost Mutuals Tag Game 🦇 Send this to the last ten Ghesties in your notifications, then reply here with ten facts about yourself! Let's get to know each other!
Oh my!! Atlas you have NO IDEA how warm n fuzzy this makes me, especially to be perceived in such a cool fandom. Like I'm starstruck honestly lol
1. We're coming up on the anniversary of me graduating college (Dec 9, 2022), I got a bachelor's of science in two majors. Criminology/Criminal Justice and Psychology, aka the reason why I'm so long winded.
2. I bedazzled a denim jacket for my Ghost show based on the lyrics to both Griftwood and Respite on the Spitalfields!!
3. Despite only being a true fan of Ghost for about a year and a half, I knew of them for years. They've been a bucketlist show for me since discovering them in 2017, and my second concert ever was my bucketlist show! My ex was super into Ghost and he saw one of the acoustic sets with Terzo and I have his shirt from said show lol
4. I'm allergic to cats but I used to babysit my former manager's cat on holidays. Star was such a sweetie and I would die a thousand deaths for her.
5. My favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip, to the point I have a tier ranking of every single mint chip on the market.
6. I'm a huge fan of Fall Out Boy as well, to the point when one of the Magic 8 Ball clues was leaked (Gator Bites), I guessed it totally correct. All based on my favorite line from Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today.
7. I'm super into coffee and I have so many different brewing methods, so many specialty coffees. It started in 2020 and it's spiraled since then lol
8. The only semi-famous person I know is Pete Adams from Baroness, only because his brother taught me world history in middle school lol
9. I got to googling when I first got super into boygenius and Lucy's Tarot birth card is The Emperor.... mine is The Empress. Idk I find it so interesting because were 5 years and 3 days apart.
10. My favorite Ghost album is Opus Eponymous, so it makes sense for Ritual to be my number 1 song on Spotify Wrapped this year

can i ask why a lot of transformers posts are tagged as maccadam?
Of course! When the first Transformers movie was released, the "transformers" tag was flooded with pictures of the actors and such, when the fandom, of course, was here for the robots, other continuities and such. And so, "maccadam", the name of the manager of the eponymous Oil House, was used as a new general tag to escape the glut of the 2007 movie.

@xcziel tagged me for the 10 characters, 10 fandoms, 10 tags post a bit back and I'm finally getting to it after a long weekend at DCI. Go Phantom Raiders! WOOOT!
Putting my tags up front because I had to put a cut in: @clockworkspider, @ohyka, @nightxshade, @hamliet, @toastinette, @mercyandmagic, @r95irth, @foxofninetales, @hawberries, @foxghost
*ahem* Anyway.... (This gets long because I ramble)
The Rover, Duel of the Iron Fist, played by David Chiang: This was the character and actor who dragged me into martial arts movie fandom. Seriously old school for you young whippersnappers but dang he proved I have a type.
Jareth, Labyrinth, played by David Bowie: I was a fan of Bowie's from the first moment I saw him in "Man who Fell to Earth". Yet again, my type.
Zorro, Mark of Zorro, played by Frank Langella: The made-for-TV movie had its flaws but Frank Langella played one of my favorite character types (crouching moron, hidden badass) beautifully. One of the few left-handed Zorros out there, btw.
Vampire Hunter D, eponymous title, voiced by Kaneto Shiozawa: The art for the original movie is dated but the voice acting was gorgeous. Kaneto Shiozawa (RIP) was one of my absolute favorite voice actors.
Homunculus, Shadow of Destiny, voiced by Charles Martinet: The genie, demon, Gods know what, manipulator behind the scenes of the game. The story never did have a satisfactory ending for me, mostly because this character's entire existence was intended to 'fix' what went wrong in a family's timeline, with little consideration for what his existence meant. Oh, and btw, his voice actor was Mario's voice actor, which just proves the man has range and talent.
Janus, Chrono Trigger (maybe Cross as well, sort of?), no voice actor that I know of: The sorcerer who helps the yokai types invade Chrono's homeland. He has reasons, though, and you can get him on your team later on. Tall, skinny, has albinism(?) and might just be the son of Lavos. Should have shown up officially in Chrono Cross or been given a role in the never produced Chrono Break.
Janus Cascade, Wild Arms 3, no voice actor in the English language version: The primary enemy of the first arc of the game, he mostly is in it to stay alive despite his bosses' worst efforts. He shows signs of liking Virginia, though that never went anywhere, drat it.
Yu Hua, Mr. Melancholy Wants to Live a Peaceful Life, novel: One of the main characters in the story, he's a former transmigrator who'd 'won' the game and taken being able to live happily and comfortably on a world where there aren't supposed to be other transmigrators. Except, of course, things start going wrong when his old 'employer' (enslaver?) starts sending more transmigrators to his world to cause trouble.
Xue Xian, Copper Coins, novel: A dragon crippled by an attack by some strange force, Xue Xian makes contact with a monk called Xuan Min and becomes embroiled in case after case of misused and abused power, all of which leads up to revealing their connection and the secret behind Xue Xian's crippling.
Jame Priest's Bane of the Knorth, Kencyrath series, novels: A member of a race called the Kencyr, Jame starts off as a lost wanderer who falls into trouble (often literally) everywhere she goes. As the series progresses we learn she's the twin sister of her people's High Lord, the daughter of a traitor who reaped souls and lost her own, and possibly one of the three aspects of her peoples' tri-part God. (Destruction, naturally) While she wants to do right and less harm, her nature means that those who act for the sake of their own wealth and power often fall into disaster in their attempt to block her.

"Jumpy, have you ever heard the name, [Goncharov]?"
-Goncharov... Can't say it rings a bell. Is that some sort of scientist?
"It's a movie, actually. About the Italian mob. Goncharov is the eponymous protagonist."
-Hang on a second, Italian? I thought Goncharov was a Russian name.
"Well, yes. But the movie takes place in Italy. That's not important right now. What's strange about this movie is, although it was supposedly released in 1973, it only gained attention in 2022."
-Almost five decades later... marketing really flubbed that one, huh?
"That's not it. The movie doesn't exist."
-Wait, what? What do you mean it doesn't exist?
"It never did. There was never a movie called Goncharov. Only one day in 2022 the internet started talking about it as if it was real. As if everyone had already seen it."
-That... that has to be a prank, right? I mean it wouldn't be the first time the internet took a liking to spreading lies, would it?
"That's true. Especially on tumblr, where the phenomenon originated. But what if there's more to it? What if the knowledge of that movie was "plucked" from some alternative timeline where the movie was critically acclaimed, and "transmitted" to our timeline through fields invisible to the naked eye?"
-C'mon. That's insane. Isn't it way more likely that tumblr was, y'know, being tumblr?
"Maybe. But isn't it strange that the name of the movie, its director, its cast of characters, the actors playing them, and the year of its release was unanimously agreed upon by one of the most inconsistent and chaotic blogging websites out there?"
-Th... that's...
"I'm not done yet. Not only that, but the events of story, the relationships between the characters, interviews with the cast, audio recordings of the movie score, fandom discourse, and multiple gifsets of the movie footage started appearing on everyone's dashboards. And none of the information contradicted each other."
-!
-(Could that really be? A movie that was transmitted to the public consciousness from another timeline...?)

Oh boy ...
So … I have an anon and it’s about this 4-lines-long post, so I’m putting everything under a cut for those who avoid this kind of stuff. Although, for the record, my answer has, in fact, less to do with that post, and more to do about purity culture in fandom.
Anon, this is your answer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, “people” haven’t been asking any questions. I posted something and three people commented in opposition, one of whom asked one (1) question. If these users are upset by my lack of response and they’re really interested in opening a discussion, I’m sure that can do this on their own, either on dms or in my askbox, since, unlike you, they had the decency to comment eponymously. You make it sound as if there has been a slew of outrage that I somehow tried to minimise by not answering.
Secondly, you seem to be under the impression that I am somehow beholden to answering these comments/questions. That is not so. Much like when IKEA mails you their catalogue: it doesn’t mean that you are obliged to leaf through it or purchase anything from it. You can reblog, comment upon or tag my post. I may or may not participate in further discussion but that is at my own discretion. It is not some kind of prerequisite to which you are entitled. After all it is my post and my blog.
Let’s make one thing clear: I’m not offended, either by Lili or her interview. I posted 4 lines -2 of which were complimentary!- and stated a negative opinion on what she promoted in an article. A negative response does not equal offense. You make it sound as if I made up some kind of philippic against her. I do not know Lili nor care enough about her or any other member of the cast to feel offended by them. The cast’s actions do not have any sort of direct effect on me personally. They are, however, in the public sphere, and for that reason they are subject to criticism.
That is why people have -not the “audacity” as you put it but rather- the “right” to criticise. Pretty much like you felt you had the right to criticise me -unless you feel you are indeed audacious in your noble quest to defend your favourite ...
You, on the other hand, were so upset by my 2 (two!) lines of criticism, that you had to come in my inbox with 2 (two!) messages to call me names and try to discredit me.
Which brings me to why I decided to actually answer your “asks” (i.e. your very rude way of anonymously venting your frustrations on another person’s blog).
In your asks there is not one word about whether what I wrote was right or wrong. The topic was the content of her interview. I didn’t quote Lili, I commented on the overall content of her interviews over the last couple of years in re: to the coping mechanisms she advertises. What you focused on was trying to present me as problematic; as someone who cannot consume media “properly”, who is not self-aware, who is obsessed etc. Now, “ad hominem”, is, of course, a well-established rhetorical strategy: instead of attacking the substance of the argument itself, you’re attacking the character of the person who made the argument.
I could chalk your asks up to bad debating skills but it struck me that it might be something different. So, I’ll take a turn in making assumptions and, if I’m wrong and it’s just bad debating skills, I apologise in advance.
The narrative that you’re presenting here -whether consciously or unconsciously- is that, if someone is critical of a stranger whom you admire, they must be not just wrong, but all-around problematic people, i.e. they must be wrong not only on this particular occasion but wrong about everything. You do not use these words, of course. But your attack on my supposed obsession/immersion boils down to a supposed general inability of critical thinking. This is quite alarming, my friend. People who have a different opinion than you on a given subject, need not be (and, indeed, are not) all-around problematic. This is a very authoritarian and skewed black&white way to look at things.
You cannot possibly think that your fave is always right or that the person you hate is always wrong! Or maybe you can. I’d bet that when you recognize “faults” in your faves they always come out as positive things (maybe they make your fave more relatable or show their growth etc.)
Going back to my og post, I stand by what I wrote. Mental health advocacy is absolutely commendable. Going from journaling, meditation and mindfulness to healing crystals and speaking to ghosts and angels through the ether … NOT the same thing.
By the way, criticising someone about something is not an all-around rejection of this person either. You seem to have a very all-or-nothing approach on things.
And the reason, I had “the audacity” to publish that two-lines-long criticism that upset you so much, is because when someone has such a big platform and says these things so carelessly? There’s always going to be at least a hundred people, like yourself, who would rather die defending pseudo-science than admitting that the stranger-that-acts-as-their-coping-mechanism-in-life might not have risen to this particular occasion. I can only assume by this mix of self-righteousness and not disclosing your identity, that you are very young and that you have not, in fact, a personal experience with therapy.
I could tell you -and, indeed, I do- that you can unfollow/block me, if you don’t like my content but I would also like to caution you that creating a “safe” bubble within tumblr (or any kind of social media) might make your experience less stressful but it will also, inevitably, create an echo chamber. Too much confirmation bias means that you will, inevitably, develop tunnel vision.
If you honestly want to discuss coping mechanisms and mental health, I am by no means an expert, but I welcome the discussion. If not, I will not be engaging in any further conversation.
I wish you a very good day.

“We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming with some breaking news: Local Female Character has experienced an earth-shattering revelation in her story arc. We go live now on-scene to our correspondent in the field. What have you got for us?”
“Oh, uh. It’s the darnedest thing, but all I’ve got here to interview are a series of Sad Boys who are going to talk about what these revelations mean to them, how they hold a tragic mirror up to their own traumas, and how their devastation over this occurrence is going to progress their own character arcs.”
“All right, but shouldn’t Local Female Character be in there somewhere?”
“Oh, well, you know, it’s a complicated story arc, with a lot of potential to be problematic, so it’s probably best to just ignore it for now rather than risk treating it insensitively. Female Character Stories are such a minefield, you know, and fandom is no place for experimenting with escapism, transforming characters and their arcs, or exploring difficult narratives.”
“Don’t I know it. Our next story: murderous Sad Boys whose complicated pasts are thinly-veiled allegories for real-world conflicts are florists and baristas by day, but you won’t believe what they do by night!”

Gilmore Girls fic recs a-plenty
OK, so in answer to an ask from edwardsparklehands and an anon, here’s some rambling recs for GG/literati fic! Tagged users both here (if I can find you) and in AO3, hope that’s OK, kids.
This is absolutely not an exhaustive list – I can be picky af and these are just fics or series that have really stuck with me. And they're not in any order. There’s also tons on my bookmarks list on AO3, but figured I should just try and keep this short. Which it is not.
Anyway, there’s tons of excellent stuff out there, all depending on what you’re looking for. I’ll try and give you finished works too, but there are LOADS of wips that I follow and haven’t mentioned that are worth checking out. Also want to preface this with a caveat – I have no idea what your preference is re warnings or ratings, so always go by what the author has rated/tagged.
The Harvest Moon series by @mrsmess/MrsMess is divine. The eponymous fic is seriously one of my all time favourite literati fics. Rory is dealing with the grief of losing Richard and goes to Luke’s fishing cabin for some time to herself and Jess is there fixing it up. It is just so breathtakingly beautiful, the way grief is explored and how Rory comes to terms with what’s always been there with Jess. Aw man, MrsMess has loads of excellent fic, actually. Bluegirls Come in Every Size, Startstruck (Groundhog Day inspired genius), A Form of Attraction (bodyswap, bitches) far too many to list, so go choose!
Wild Geese by @rudeflower/therudestflower. Oh man, this one. Jess-centric with only the barest hint of Rory – like, minimal, so fyi in case you’re looking for hardcore literati. Truncheon folds and Jess has to move back to Stars Hollow to get his shit together. Delves into his and Liz’s relationship and boy does it go hard. There’s a couple more works in the series that are perfect follow-ups too.
You can’t go wrong with anything by @rorygilmoregf/peterstank. I got sucked in by the weight we carry and it absolutely broke me, but in such a good way. Follows the show from Jess’s POV mostly, but gives him back story and fills his character out so well. Eventually has Rory POV and there’s plenty of literati goodness. Distilla truant is an AU of Jess in Chilton and it is so goooooood. Also, there’s a series called wrapped up in books and it’s an au/fix-it from the Real Paul Anka episode and it is just so wonderful. As is the new lux et veritas where Rory meets Jess in Yale. Just, yeah, go read.
Desdemona's Handkerchief by @stellaluna33/Stellaluna33 is like a lost scene from Teach me Tonight. Just seeing these two knuckleheads being adorbs and lovely and dancing around each other is so sweet – something I would’ve loved to have seen more of on the show. Stellaluna also wrote the gorgeous wip The Long and Winding Road, which I love – it’s on fanfiction.net and ye gads I don’t like the that site’s interface so I flap about like an old lady and get very confused so apologies to Stellaluna for not commenting on it but I LOVE IT and wait with baited breath for more!!
Ah man, pretty much anything by @missgoalie75/missgoalie75, another fandom heavy-hitter imho. To Move With Purpose, the Sense8 AU (LOVE THIS), Get Out of This Place While We Still Have Time, this is all addition by subtraction – all excellent literati. I’m gonna let a cat amongst the pigeons and say Weather Me is one of my favourite GG fics, but it’s Jess/Paris set post-revival – a pairing I thought I’d never read because I’m a literati diehard, but their writing is just so good that I had to read and I was not disappointed.
@gingerteaonthetardis/gingerteaandsympathy has two recent GG fics that are just * chef’s kiss * always crashing in the same car reimagines events in Teach Me Tonight if Rory was driving; it’s all one night and yet there is so much character development it’s astonishing. A thing in itself is an alternate ending to s4e12, A Family Matters, where Jess goes back to Stars Hollow to pick his car up. What if Rory and Jess actually talked things out? I would very much say this.
Truth, Fiction, and Rose-Colored Glasses by @hawthornewhisperer/HawthorneWhisperer figure things out post-revival. This is so soft and lovely and just, yeah. Love it.
It’s a Mixed Up, Muddled Up, Shook Up World (Except for Lola) by @this-is-not-my-dream-blog/cyrene. Post-revival, Jess is just there for Rory and the baby, being all protective and pining and adorable and shit. Yes please.
Eurydice Backwards by @notthereneveraround/notthereneveraround. I adore this conceit; exquisite storytelling.
To You, From Me by 70sBabe – notes Rory and Jess have left for each other. Tracks their relationship through the show and them diverges – love it. 70sBabe has LOADS of excellent fic – I loved this must be the place (flatshare au) and call it what you want (canon divergence, set around 2013, they go on a roadtrip – ugh, the feels).
The Subsect by @truncheonpress/truncheonpress – literally what it says LOL A masterfully meta piece of writing – the author writes as Jess writing his book which is about his life. So densely packed full of detail and references that, like, an embarrassing amount of it is lost on me, but that doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the writing. It’s incredible. And it’s a wip btw.
ETA: dammit, missed gave me the blues by madwoman14! Rory, Dean, Logan and Jess as colours and how they interact. So gorgeous.
OMG ETA AGAIN: how in the name of Mariano did I forget @jenlindleygf/pambeesly's gorgeous fic that absolutely devastated me, you could call me babe for the weekend! Jess and Rory start up a no-strings attached relationship while in Stars Hollow for the holidays and my god is it good. MY GOD IS IT GOOOOOOOOD. But also part of a larger series and I am (not so) patiently waiting for more coz ❤️❤️❤️
And, come on, I would be remiss if I didn’t stick my fics in here too. Because I crave love and attention and I’m actually really happy about them LOL Not Time’s Fool is my attempt to fill in the gaps of AYITL, with a little pre-revival chapter thrown in there too. The sexy times in chapters 1 and 2 is very much explicit, so be warned. But there’s loads of fluff and angst and love and banter and stuff too so, ya know. Letters to a Lost Love is post-AYITL by a few years; just a little domestic fluff scene where Rory talks to Jess about a Truncheon book she loves, and Jess has a confession. And the immediately post-AYITL Ride’em high, kids is shameless, gratuitous, lascivious ogling Jess in shorts because yeah.
OK, I need to stop now. I’m gonna go read more fic and stare at my wips LOL

I was tagged by @thisbluespirit (thanks!) to list 5 of my top fics I’ve written. I confess, I don’t tend to think of my fics in such terms, unless it’s ‘top 5 Kudos’ or ‘top 5 comments’, but I already did that meme! So, top 5 that most enjoyed writing, are:
The Name's Wolfe, Berenice Wolfe: 007, Licensed to Thrill - I wrote this for a Kissing Prompts thing I was doing in the first half of last year (and which I’d previously done in a different fandom). It was written for the kissing prompt one sliding their hand into the other’s hair slowly and I wish I’d been able to write more of it.
It's not a date - it's just dinner at a fancy restaurant - this originated with a post of @slightlyintimidating‘s as has occurred more than once! In this case I found an old post of Sev's with a list of Berena prompts which this one: Robbie doesn’t show at a date and when Bernie gets Serena’s angry and upset text she turns up because “I wouldn’t want to waste a reservation at this restaurant.” and the Bitch Muse just ran away with it!
Bean and Gone - this was sparked by a wlw book I read, although things went differently in the book. Anyway, it’s one of two fics I wrote for @batnbreakfast’s birthday last year and it takes the Bernie-as-a-coffeeshop-owner meme to the hilt. I even designed a bloody logo for the coffeeshop, despite having no graphics skills!
The Long Road to Happiness - oh look, another one inspired by @slightlyintimidating! Someone posted a list of Celebrity AU prompts and, as per bloody usual, my Bitch Muse leapt on more than one of the prompts. And when Sev reblogged it, she said (of the prompt “we were both child stars on the same show, your career skyrocketed and mine went nowhere, now 20 years later you’re on my doorstep at 3 a.m.” au): #or the child stars one where Bernie married big actor or director Marcus to hide #and ended up having a successful career but has suffered and now filed for divorce #then ran away to Serena to try and hide from the inevitable press clamour for her. And then this happened...
McKinnie and Wolfe: Monster Hunters - I wrote this for the Holby Halloween Monster Mash 2020. It was inspired by a collection of short stories that was my Halloween read - the idea just wouldn’t go away, so fic happened!
Jason Haynes: Matchmaker -  I was inspired to write this by this photo of Jemma Redgrave in a white vest top from her appearance in the TV show Judge John Deed.
Tumblr media
Bernie - my reworking of the play Barnes’ People - Rosa in which Jemma Redgrave starred as the eponymous Rosa last year.
Oblivious - I posted a list of Intimacy Prompts and invited people to pick one or two for me to write. An Anon offered me 9 - watching movies / tv shows, 13 - cuddles and 14 - sharing drinks with the additional request: just them being oblivious idiots doing all domestic stuffs and being basically “married” without realizing it. Thanks :) I absolutely LOVE writing ships from an Outsider Point of View and writing Bernie and Jason bonding was an excuse to do just that here.
Letters to a Naturalist - my first ever - and probably by now infamous! - ‘live action’ fic in which I wrote the actual physical letters in this story and sent them to @corvidden. I’m proud of the amount of research that went into this fic, if nothing else.
Aren't you supposed to be dead? -  Someone posted a list of celebrity AU prompts, which I reblogged ages ago and saved some of the prompts for future consideration. Randomly, the Bitch Muse decided this morning to write a slight twist on "wait, you’re supposed to be DEAD and I just recognized you at the grocery store, turns out you just didn’t want to be a celebrity anymore” au and here we are...
Oh damn! The instructions said 5 fics and this is 10! Well I’m not taking any of them back!
Anyway, tagging (with the usual no obligation to participate caveat!) @slightlyintimidating @corvidden @doctorjameswatson @ktlsyrtis @magnass @sententiousandbellicose and @lapalfruity

Ao3 Fic Meme
Tagged by the ever-lovely @qqueenofhades *blows kiss*
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 224 (it would be far more than that but I orphaned around 100 fics last year)
2. What is your total AO3 word count? 3,338,568 and God willing I will not make it to four million
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? I’ve written for quite a lot of fandoms. Back in my high school days I wrote a lot of smutty oneshots for random pairings, usually whatever movie or TV show I’d just watched. But the fandoms I’ve really gotten invested in and written for include:
Timeless (TV 2016) (100)
9-1-1 (TV) (28)
The Witcher (TV) (19)
Merlin (TV) (10)
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (9)
The Mummy (8)
Marvel Cinematic Universe (6)
IT (2017 Film) (5)
Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (3)
As you can see, Timeless really dominated my muse for a while (about two-three years). The MCU stuff is all my rewrites that I did - the bane of my existence.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Even Steel Blades Need Fire
Footprints are More Easily Seen in the Snow
Sometimes a Hammer, Sometimes a Lockpick
Tactile
Crammed in with You
All Witcher fanfics! I’m surprised Leading with the Left isn’t up there, but to be fair the Witcher fandom is really fuckin’ huge and even the rabid readers of 9-1-1 can’t quite compete with the sheer amount of traffic my Witcher fics have gotten.
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Almost always. I know that technically I have no obligation, and other authors feel differently, but I personally feel it’s a courtesy. The comments that readers give me fill my heart with warmth and joy, and I want my readers to know that those comments and their interactions with my work are appreciated. I respond to 99% of the comments I receive. I know we talk a lot about how fanfic authors need comments and interaction to keep going and that it’s the nice thing to do, but the flip side of that is, I think readers deserve to get a response to their comments from the author - because how does the reader know their comment is appreciated, y’know? I really think it’s a two-way street. So I try my best.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Full Circle, my lone Doctor Who fic and a very (very) rare case of a main character death fic. It’s about the Doctor visiting Donna as she passes away so he can say goodbye.
7. Do you write crossovers? No. Not really my thing. I did write one that is technically a crossover, way back in the day. It had the premise that Richard Castle from the eponymous TV show is actually Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly (since both were played by the same actor). Given that I wrote it when I was seventeen, I think it’s held up pretty well. It’s called Conception.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Absolutely. The hate was a lot worse back in the day, I’ll be honest. The amount of hate I would get regularly on fanfiction.net as opposed to Ao3 is insane. But I have gotten hate occasionally on Ao3. One person very determinedly went through all my 9-1-1 fics and sent hateful comments, to the point where one triggered me and I had to make all my fics accounts-locked for a while (meaning you had to log into your Ao3 account to see and read them).
When I get hate or rude comments, I just delete them. There’s no point in arguing - you’re not going to change the person’s mind and giving them engagement is what they want. Every time someone’s been an asshole online and I’ve engaged/fought with them I’ve ended up with more hate towards me than before and I’ve regretted it. So yeah, it’s rare, thankfully, but when I get it I just delete.
9. Do you write smut? If you do, what kind of smut do you write? DO I WRITE SMUT. HAHAHAHA. Noooooo I’m such a pure innocent li’l babe in the woods. I have never written the vile pronography in my liiiiiife.
Yeah, smut is pretty much what I’m known for. Honestly sometimes I get annoyed at myself for how much I can’t resist putting smut into things. I worry sometimes that people only care about me as a smut machine and don’t care about my character work or plots as much. But I also love getting people into new kinks they didn’t know about or when readers enjoy my smut even if the kinks involved aren’t usually their style.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I’m aware of. I had an issue with someone posting links to my fics on tumblr and then being a jerk when a friend and I tried explaining why people were thinking they were the author and not me, and it turned into this massive kerfluffle where a bunch of people I’d never spoken to before sent me hate and I nearly deleted all my fics and my tumblr altogether. It still makes me nauseous to think about. Honestly if I could go back in time I wouldn’t say anything to the person just to spare myself the backlash. But outright stolen... no not that I know about.
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? My darling @extasiswings and I have collaborated on a few fics now: whispers like poetry, I Hit the Accelerator (But the Car was in Reverse) and Carbon Date Me, Excavate Me which truly would not have gotten written without her skill and assistance.
12. What’s your all-time favorite ship? That’s a hard one. There are a lot of ships that hold special places in my heart. Merthur, Geraskier, Garcy, and Garcyatt are all strong contenders. But I think I’ll have to go with Buddie. I can’t remember the last time a ship and a show had me in such a chokehold. I think it was when I was a teenager? Buddie is truly something special to me.
13. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Lord of the Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean, I can’t quite remember. I was writing both at the same time so...
14. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? I don’t have a favorite. I know that’s a cop-out but it’s true. I am especially proud of Defiance & Destiny, Love You Like a Killer (I Want to Make Your Heart Stop) and Your Fingerprints Smeared on My Heart (Lead Me Back to You) because all three have required an immense amount of planning and effort in the writing of them. But I also really like some other fics that are much shorter that I just dashed out like a fever dream, such as Footprints are More Easily Seen in the Snow and Could Twist the Sinews of Thy Heart?, and I like some of my popular fics like Leading with the Left and Even Steel Blades Need Fire a lot so I’m glad that so many other people like them too since they were just so fun to write.
So yeah. I don’t really have a favorite. I really love my fics, even if some days I hate my writing.
