Log 5, cold runners. I came across a new species while exploring an area with a higher floral density. While it was strange to go from a cold muddy tundra to a densely populated marsh, I believe I know the reason for this biodiversity. During the warmer season this part of the arctic must get the most sun which causes an abundance of plant life, the plants in turn provide heat for the area due to them being natural radiators. This chilled marsh holds many life forms, the most prevalent one being cold runners. Cold runners are tall thin creatures with an equestrian esc body. Cold runners keep warm by not only eating the heated leaves of the marsh’s trees, but by siphoning the methane from the air much like the Thorsum. A key difference though is that the combustion port on the cold runners is internal; methane is combusted and sent through special muscles connected to the wings causing the heat to be stored. This unique method of heat storage allows the cold runners to survive for long periods out in the tundra. cold runners mainly reside in the freezing lakes and rivers of the marsh, very little predators can survive these temperatures making it a perfect spot for mating. The discovery of this marsh is exciting. I can already tell that it is a haven for all sorts of life forms, let’s hope the droid won’t destroy it all.
