Hi I’ve recently gotten back into divergent so my Eric obsession has surfaced yet again😂
I’m also new to tumblr so I’m not sure if I’m doing this request thing right, so my apologies if it’s too much
I really enjoyed your head canon on Eric and was wondering if you could do another one maybe more geared towards him as a husband and father maybe some years down the road. I could see him having learned some self control when it comes to his anger issues. Maybe becoming a girl dad becoming a big softy which would be adorable, but still maintaining his asshole reputation somehow.
If you get a chance to write this I’d really appreciate it!! Thank you
Tumblr media
Eric proposed to you after a year of dating. You told Eric beforehand you wanted to be proposed too, Why? There's no point in me proposing to you, you are already mine, Eric said rubbing his face annoyed. YOU WILL PROPOSE TO ME!! You screamed while hitting him.
You worked as a nurse so when the symptoms of throwing up, weird cravings, mood swings, and your period being late you knew you were pregnant. For precaution, you took a test confirming your suspicion, and you ran to tell Eric being overjoyed. What is it, honey? Eric said wrapping his arms around you. I'M PREGNANT! You Shouted waiting to see his reaction only to be met with silence, Babe are you okay? Eric looked at you and immediately spun you around in his arms with your legs wrapped around his torso.
Eric was extremely protective of you. He carried you down the flight of stairs because of the no railings, or you used the elevator. He made sure you ate a lot no matter how unhealthy it was, so a lot of chocolate cake. If anyone bumped into you or harmed you in any way whether emotionally or physically he kick their ass.
He was obsessed with the baby, and after the couple found out it was a baby girl, he was ecstatic wanting to spoil the little girl. She is so gonna be a daddy's girl, Eric said rubbing your stomach. How do you know? you said. Because She's my daughter, Eric said in an obvious tone.
Truth be told she was a daddy's girl, after she was born she only wanted her daddy. He was the only one that could make her go to sleep, so... Why do I have to go, it's your turn, Eric said still in bed rubbing his eyes tiredly with the baby crying in the background. Because She's a daddy girl, you said while putting the covers over your face feeling Eric get up.
At the age of 5, your daughter was handling knives and guns but was spoiled so much by her father that she favored him over you. You told Eric it wasn't a good idea to train her yet because she was so young but he did anyway, only the basics though. For her 6 birthday, she was given a pink knife and gun engraved was princess, ironic.
your daughter screamed and panicked whenever Eric was not there. She threw tantrums over the smallest things it was getting out of control, so you stepped your foot down. You told her that you were the mother and she had to obey your rules, She was not happy and yelled at you. Eric finally saw how his little princess was getting too spoiled... Princess Stop! Eric said with a firm voice, he realized how bad our daughter treated you and was not having it. [d/n] You can't disrespect your mother like that, Eric took away her guns and knives and had her apologize to you. You knew she was a daddy's girl but she was still your daughter and you weren't going to allow her to treat you like that. You forgave her but she was still grounded for 2 weeks.
By age 12 your daughter was maturing growing so beautiful with her long hair and beautiful blue eyes like Eric's. Eric was still an asshole to people but never to his family, he often compared his daughter to the initiates. Watch how my daughter throws the knives better than you pieces of shit, glancing at his daughter. She threw it perfectly right in the middle, the initiates looked at the little girl in surprise with a proud look from both her and her father. I want everyone to run and you won't stop till I say so...GO, Eric said firmly wanting to gouge his eyes out if he saw another initiate.
By the time your daughter was 16, Eric had moved up the ranks to head leader of Dauntless. Your daughter ended up staying in Dauntless excelling in training and becoming first overall in all her rankings only having 7 fears.
Eric was not happy, his princess had a boyfriend, and he had a reputation for scaring any boys who came close to his little girl. Oh, so you think you're good enough for my princess huh, Eric walked around the boy, giving him a fright. All-l do r-respect s-ir, the boy said shitting himself, Why are you stuttering, can't you speak right boy, Eric said leaning on his side while crossing his arms showing off his muscular arms. Daddy stop you are scaring him, His princess told him but he ignored her. Princess, why don't you give the boys some time to talk, his princess obliged leaving the men to talk. Can I get... before she could finish she saw her boyfriend leaving with tears streaming down his face. Look, we are breaking up bye, he left in such a hurry. She knew her father did this and ordered 3 shots of vodka, she was going to need it.
In the end, Your daughter was able to find someone who understood her and treated her like a princess. Eric approved of the boy for his daughter, 2 years after they dated he proposed to your daughter. you and your daughter went wedding dress shopping, planning the big invite list, etc. The wedding was extravagant and beautiful and you couldn't stop crying seeing Eric walk your daughter down the aisle and [d/n] saying I Do. You recall the memories that led up to this moment, you meeting Eric, the wedding, your daughter, the choosing ceremony, her wedding it was amazing with your family right by your side.
BTW yes Eric cried at the wedding. I am telling you, sweetie I am not gonna cry... 5 minutes later, Eric wiping his tears with a napkin. Not gonna cry right, you said with your arms crossed on your chest. SHHHH, the wedding starting, and my eyes are just leaking water.

Try Me // E.C.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: You pass initiation by the skin of your teeth and Eric isn’t too happy about you joining Dauntless
Warnings: Smut (18+), explicit language, threat, characters are aged up
Word Count: 2.9k
Initiation had been tough and you had come shamefully close to fucking up your fear landscape, but you scraped through thanks to Four’s guidance. You could tell that your success had irritated Eric. It may have had something to do with the fact that you still retained some of your more subtle Amity traits despite the fact that Dauntless should have wiped that out of you during your initiation. The Candors were still allowed to be brutally honest and the Erudite could still rely on their intelligence so why couldn’t you maintain your sunny disposition? You weren’t the only Amity initiate that year, but the other was a boy clearly destined for a future in Dauntless so he had a much easier time of it than you, especially with Eric. Tall, stupid, brooding Eric. He had been a thorn in your side since you jumped off that rooftop but you had been adamant that you would prove him wrong, even if it was just out of spite and not some twisted sense of self-preservation.
You were heading back to your room after dinner at the pit when you noticed the aforementioned thorn leaning against the wall, cleaning his fingernails with a rather sharp looking knife. Typical Eric intimidation tactic. His position meant that you would have to walk awfully close to the edge of the chasm to get passed him which was not something you felt entirely comfortable with and the glint in his eye as he looked at you suggested that he was well aware of this.
“Initiate. He stood to his full height as you approached and turned his body to completely block your path.
“I know it’s hard for you to accept that I am a fully fledged Dauntless now Coulter, but I’m sure you’ll adjust eventually” you smiled up at him sarcastically. There was venom in your tone and the quirk of his eyebrow hinted that he wasn’t expecting such an impudent response. Amity passivity be damned. You half expected him to grab you by the throat and launch you into the chasm as punishment for your audacity, but to your complete surprise he merely shoved passed you. It didn’t escape your notice that his broad shoulder pushed you into the safety of the wall and not the raging torrent to your right. You faltered for a moment at the realisation, knowing that he had come close to killing people for less. Eventually, your mind caught up with your body and you carried on to your room, trying not to overthink Eric’s actions.
~~~
You had told your friends about what had happened with Eric the next day during your morning workout. Will refused to believe that Eric hadn’t throttled you at the first chance he got and you grimaced at the thought.
“You should see how far you can push him!” Christina suggested in typical Christina fashion.
“I didn’t get through initiation just to get myself killed now!” You laughed at her absurdity. Although her idea did sound kind of appealing, you knew Eric was not one to have his buttons pushed and let you get away with it.
“I wonder if he’d make it quick and snap your neck or if he’d torture you slowly?” Will wondered aloud before suddenly going wide eyed at something behind you.
“It would definitely be slow and torturous. You’d be begging by the end.” Immediately your face flushed bright red and the hair on your arms stood on end as Eric bent down and whispered threateningly in your ear. You stared open-mouthed at your companions as Eric laughed and brushed passed you, the touch of his leather jacket on your bare arm eliciting an involuntary shiver. There was absolutely no need for such close contact, you thought.
“That was hot.” Your friend smirked, and as much as it pained you to admit it, Christina wasn’t wrong.
You finished your workout and absolutely did not look over at Eric, now covered in sweat with a single piece of hair falling alluringly into his eyes. You really weren’t expecting the image to make your stomach flutter. God what had happened to you? Did the feeling of finally being safe and no longer facing the stresses of initiation mean that your subconscious had latched onto something new and equally as daunting? His earlier comment had definitely not helped matters that was for sure. Christina nudged your shoulder, bringing you back to the present with a knowing look. You simply sipped your water and acted oblivious, throwing one last glance at the tattooed leader before heading out of the gym to the showers.
~~~
That night you had forgotten all about Eric and his comment and you were blissfully lounging in your bed with a book waiting for the bath to fill. Will had made you complete a rather intense workout to make sure you didn’t start slacking now that official training was over and your muscles were in agony so a warm bubble bath was a much needed indulgence. Once the tub had filled you stripped off your clothes, chucked your hair up into a bun and slipped into the water, trying not to hiss at the pleasure of your loosening muscles. You had left your book on your night stand and you were too relaxed to go and get it so you let your eyes slip closed and simply enjoyed the feeling of weightlessness.
The feel of fingers lightly caressing your throat, sliding delicately up your neck before gently clamping down on your jugular was an unexpected sensation. A moan slipped from your mouth at the pressure and you felt a disturbance in the water - another hand was sliding its way across your inner thigh, heading straight for your rapidly warming core. Nails bit into the flesh of your leg and you groaned, lifting your hips ever so slightly, silently begging for more. Your eyes fluttered open slowly, unprepared to find the lust blown gaze of Eric Coulter staring back at you. With a splash you woke up and spluttered bubbles and bathwater out of your mouth. You didn’t realise you had fallen asleep. The water was now lukewarm but your skin was ablaze with the imagined touches of a man who had tormented you for months. You reasoned that your exhausted mind had just latched on to Will’s earlier mention of Eric throttling you and that there was nothing at all erotic about your feelings for your leader. You shook off the dream and hastily got ready for bed, adamant that you’d wake up refreshed and with Eric no longer occupying valuable brain space.
~~~
The next few days passed relatively uneventfully but your peace was bound to be interrupted at some point. One of the patrol crew had been injured and as the lowest ranking member working in control you had to take his place until he recovered. Four ran you through the protocol and you headed off to meet the rest of the crew before the train arrived. You hadn’t thought to question where you were going to be stationed but the sight of the farmland and fields of your old faction had you wishing you had. Luckily the crew stationed at this part of the fence was fairly large so you stayed in the centre of the pack, hoping to remain anonymous. As you reached the top of the ladder your eyes were met with a pair of black Dauntless issue combat boots. Your gaze travelled up to glare at whoever was blocking you from getting onto the platform and shock horror, it was none other than Eric Coulter. You rolled your eyes at his infuriating acknowledgment.
“Initiate.”
“Coulter.”
“Control room getting a bit stuffy was it? Thought you’d get a bit of fresh air?” He smirked down at you and your hands were starting to get sweaty with your grip on the ladder.
“Max’s orders. Now please move.” You hoisted yourself up onto the wall, but Eric had only taken the slightest step back so that when you straightened up you were almost touching and your eyes were level with the blocks of ink running up his throat. You fought back the sudden and very invasive urge to lick them. You did however give into to the urge to toy with him. If he was going to actively try to get you all flustered you were damn well going to do the same. You looked up at him through your eyelashes and with a small smirk, moistened your lips.
“Where do you want me?” You questioned. If you thought your pathetic attempt at seduction would have any effect whatsoever on Eric’s stoic glare you were sorely mistaken. He merely pointed to the farthest end of the wall from where you currently stood and marched off in the opposite direction.
As the sun rose higher over the fields you found yourself removing more and more layers of clothing until you were in just your vest and leggings. You had pulled your hair up into a ponytail, hoping that at least a light breeze on your neck would help cool you down. No such luck. The hours passed slowly and since you weren’t part of the regular crew no one really spoke to you. The boredom was agonising and you found your mind wandering once again to Eric. You’d have to ask Christina for her advice when you got back to the compound. Or get Four to remind you of all the cruel, antagonistic things Eric had said and done to you during your initiation in the hopes that it would snap you out of your budding infatuation. Because you hated to admit it, but you were starting to become really attracted to the man.
~~~
By the time you got back to the compound you were sweating in places you didn’t even realise you could sweat so you immediately headed to your room with the intention of a cold shower before heading down to the pit to meet up with your friends. You stared down at the concrete as you walked, lost in thought about what you’d say to Christina and Four about your current predicament. By the time you looked up to unlock the door it was too late to turn tail and run. Eric was stood directly in front of you, one broad shoulder against the wall and his right leg slung over his ankle. You frowned at him as you continued your approach. Wordlessly questioning why he would be at your door, and how he managed to get here before you when you had gotten off the train at the same time. There were definitely secret corridors you didn’t know about, you surmised.
“What do you want now?” You huffed at him as you pulled your key card from your back pocket, trying to act as unfazed by his presence as possible. His brow was furrowed and he didn’t seem to hear your question.
“Did you want to reveal any more skin today or is that quite enough?” His voice was deep and laced with anger. Or was it frustration.
“I didn’t realise there was a rule against wearing appropriate clothing when you’re sweating your tits off.” You rolled your eyes at him when, at the mention of tits, he glanced down at your chest before catching himself and returning your glare.
“The other guys on patrol were staring.” Was that a hint of possessiveness you detected?
“Eric,” you grinned, “you’re staring.” You huffed out a small chuckle, but it got stuck in your throat when you looked up at him and saw how serious he looked. He slowly surrounded you, invading your space, but not close enough to be considered indecent if someone happened to walk by.
“Don’t you want me to?” He whispered, sounding almost earnest. Your breath hitched and you suddenly didn’t know where to look. Focusing on a point over his shoulder, you felt a blush rise up to your cheeks. Did you want him to stare at you? Well, when he looked like he did right now you did. Biting you lip at the thought you turned your gaze back to his face and oh - those eyes were the same lust blown eyes you had dreamt about.
“Yes.” Your voice was barely audible and Eric bent his head down ever so slightly to catch your words.
“Unlock the door, Initiate.” His voice had got even raspier and you thought back to Christina’s comment, wandering how far you could push him.
“Ask nicely.”
“No.”
Eric plucked the key card out of your hand and swiped it against the lock. Pushing the door open so you fell backwards, his arm snaking around your waist to catch you. The door closed with a heavy thud and you were slammed up against it. Eric’s gaze turned hungry. His hands were now resting against your hips and you noticed that he was biting his lip hard enough to draw blood. Before you could stop yourself you surged upwards and licked at the drop of crimson forming below his teeth and Eric didn’t hesitate to suck your tongue into his mouth in response, causing a breathy moan to escape your lips. You didn’t think it was possible for your bodies to get any closer, but with a light nudge from his knee your legs were parted and he had pulled you down against his muscular thigh. You were so turned on you almost came from that alone. His hands had crept under the hem of your top and were burning the sensitive flesh on your stomach, it was heavenly but you didn’t want them there. You wanted them around your throat.
“Eric,” you sighed, “please.” You were too far gone to verbalise your want, but Eric knew exactly what you needed. He moved his hand tantalisingly slowly across your stomach and up between your breasts, avoiding your hardened nipples in favour of your preferred destination. Just like your dream, his fingers caressed your carotid artery before applying the pressure that you craved. Your eyes rolled back and you rubbed yourself against his thigh, seeking more friction than your clothes would allow. Eric was panting and as you lowered your hand to palm him through his trousers he screwed his eyes shut in a hopeless attempt to regain some self-control. You were sucking at his throat, finally tasting his beautiful tattooed skin, but you wanted more. Once you had initiated the removal of his clothes it wasn’t long before you were both completely naked, marvelling at each other through the haze of desire that had overtaken you. You didn’t know if you could make it to the bed on your wobbly legs, so you stood on your tip toes, kissing along Eric’s jaw before jumping up to wrap your thighs around his waist.
“Fuck.” He muttered into your neck, lightly biting down on your shoulder. “Wanted this for so long, can’t wait much longer.” You didn’t fully register what he had said, but you knew you felt the exact same way so you ground your hips against his, the wetness of your cunt coating his throbbing cock.
“Then do something about it.” You groaned against his jaw. You didn’t need to tell him twice. The man shoved you back into the door and thrust his cock into you, immediately bottoming out. It was too much, but you took it willingly, vision going white with pleasure.
“Shit. Sorry.” Eric stuttered.
“Shut up.” You murmured before melding your mouth to his, silently reassuring him that you were fine with him being rough with you. He took the hint and began moving within you, almost completely removing himself before surging back into your tight warmth. Your hands roved over his chest, brushing over his sensitive nipples before looping around his back and leaving scratches across his shoulder blades. He grunted into your mouth and you felt his cock twitch inside of you. Good to know you weren’t the only one that liked a bit of pain with your pleasure. He grazed his teeth over your lower lip and suddenly the door was no longer at your back. You assumed he was walking you towards the bed and when he lowered you into the sheets without pulling out of you, you sighed in sheer bliss. Eric grabbed at your forearms, releasing your grip on his shoulders, and hoisted them above your head all while thrusting into you at an unforgiving pace. Your inevitable undoing came when he moved one of his hands from your wrists and brought it back up to your throat, squeezing somewhat harder than before. As soon as your brain registered his touch, your pussy clenched around him and you turned your head, shouting his name into the bedsheets. Your orgasm was so intense and your spasming walls squeezed his cock so deliciously that Eric was coming without warning, groaning into your chest with  his release. When his cock finally stopping twitching inside of you, you shuffled further up the bed and he collapsed unceremoniously beside you, looking thoroughly fucked. You smirked at him, your sex addled brain thinking of nothing but how much you wanted him to do that to you again, and again, and again.
“I don’t think you could ever beat that performance.” You chuckled, staring at his beautiful face through hooded eyes. He grinned at you wolfishly.
“Try me.”

Part 2 Part 3
Tumblr media
Despite being from Candor you were quiet, at least once you got to Dauntless. You were in over your head and were asking yourself every day why the hell you chose this faction when you could have lived a happy life in Amity? You supposed anything was better than home, but you still found yourself wishing you could just run away. Your trainer, and leader, was a tall piece of work named Eric Coulter. You wanted to punch him in the throat sometimes but you had to restrain yourself, you needed to pass the training, you needed to.
It was nearing the end of your training and you had slowly but steadily risen your way near the top, the top 3 in fact. You were a shy, lost little girl when you started despite being 23. You had fuck-all muscle tone and although your aim wasn’t too bad your endurance was terrible, but now, now you were strong; you worked hard, training for long hours throughout the day and on your days off, you ate better, and soon you pushed past the others. Your desperation to stay and prove yourself, not just to others, had pushed you past your limits to a place you never thought you’d ever be. You felt good, you felt ready, but knew you still needed to push through the last round before you could relax, before you could call yourself Dauntless.
“Faster!” Eric shouted over the beats of fists on the line of punching bags. “Remember, it’s not all about how hard you can punch! You can be as powerful as you like but if you’re slow you’re not gonna get far in a fight with someone faster than you!”
You breathed heavy through your teeth as you punched through the combinations despite your throat hurting from breathing so hard.
Eric walked past you and watched your technique intently. “Good, initiate.” He said before continuing.
A ping of confidence hit you but you didn’t let it phase you, you just kept going, not losing concentration.
“Time!” Eric yelled and everyone stopped, replacing the sound of thumping fists with heavy, desperate breathing.
One guy ran as far as he could to the side before throwing up. No one cared, they were just too exhausted.
“As you know, next week is the final round of your training, the fear landscape. Some of you have exceeded my expectations, I’ll admit, but some of you need to step it up before the test, you know who you are. You’ll have free time from now until Friday but I’d suggest you use that time to train. Dismissed.”
You didn’t want a week of free time, you wanted the test to be yesterday but you knew you needed at least one day to prepare your mind for the fear landscape. And you were right, you trained all week until the day before and spent the whole time going through every possibility that the simulation could possibly throw at you…there was just one that worried you. Deep water and claustrophobia you could push through but the third one you were afraid might break you despite what you had accomplished.
When Friday came and you waited outside the simulation room, watching one person after another either walk out crying or have to be carried out, you started to get nervous, the first time you had been nervous since you caught up on the scoring board. But when your name was called your mind almost stopped for a moment before being drowned with noise of fear and what ifs. The only sign you showed of being anxious was your picking at the skin on your thumb with your index finger. Four noticed this, the last time he had seen you do it was when you first arrived.
“You’ll be fine.” He said. You were comforted by the hint of compassion in his voice and you smiled a fraction before Eric yapped at you to hurry up and sit down. You didn’t bother looking at him, you just sat down and let them set you up.
“You’ll be seeing this?” You asked, looking at the monitor on the only table in the room.
“Yes.” Said Four, not making eye contact.
You put your head back and took a deep breath. You only just noticed you were shaking a little and before you knew it both Four and Eric were gone and the room began flooding with water through the door.

Captive - Eric Coulter x OC Eden Rossi
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: Where Am I?
Chapter 2: The Ghost From Amity
t/w: death
"Eden, go help your father in the field. I'll let the two of you know when dinner is ready" I let go of my mother's dress and run out into the fields. The endless flow of wheat towering over. I follow the voices of my neighbors telling each other tales as they work.
"Eden, you came to join us, didn't ya?" Uncle Josh says to me with his permanent lopsided smile.
"Momma said I have to help y'all till dinner time, I think she's mad because Sam and I broke somethin' when we were playing hide and seek."
"That's alright then, you can come pass the time with us till she cools off."I look around and the townsfolk for my father, his kind eyes and thick black beard nowhere to be found.
"Where's pops at? Momma said he was out working the field."Uncle Josh lets out a frustrated sigh, "He headed out to the outskirts. Dauntless wanted to have a little talk with him, pro'lly gonna steal more of our grain and leave us hungry for the winter. Ol bastards!"
"Why didn't he tell momma?"
A concerned look flashes on Uncle Josh's face, "You know how she gets when the other factions come knocking. He pro'lly didn't want her to worry."He looks off in the distance towards the gates separating Amity from the miles of nothing between the other factions. "You don't go running and telling her, alright."
"Yes, sir! My lips are sealed."
A loud blast from the distance. I cover my ears trying to suppress the frightening noise. The birds fly away from the trees in all different directions.Uncle Josh grabs my hand and we start running through the hills leading to my house. He's running so fast I almost can't get a foot on the ground.The house finally comes into view, I see my momma standing outside yelling out to us.
"Go inside and don't come out till I say!" She yells at me.
"What the hell was that?!" I'm listening to her and Uncle Josh talk, eavesdropping from the hallway leading to the kitchen.
"Now, Evelyn." He sounds nervous, "You know Dauntless keeps asking us for more than we can provide." He's standing in front of her with his hat in his hands.
"What does that have to do with anything?!" She's almost at his neck with anger, "You tellin' me my husband's been meeting with 'em behind my back?!"He's trying to get a word in but she doesn't let him even catch his breath.
"Explain to me what that noise could have been, what part of talkin' is that?!"
"He said that he could handle them and tell 'em that we can't give them more than what they are being rationed. They agreed to come unarmed this time and talk."
"UNARMED!? They've come armed and the two of you didn't bother to tell anyone!?"
The sound of footsteps comes closer, digging into the gravel. The voice of my oldest brother mixed with heavy breathing shoots through the house.
"Momma! Dauntless is comin' through the gates!" He falls apart, and I hear the gravel shifting. "They killed Poppa!" His screams shake the house.
~~~~~
I jolt awake, covered in sweat. My heart pounding through my chest. The stress slowly being replaced by the deep sadness that usually sits in its place.
“Eden Rossi.”
A deep voice fills the unfamiliar room.
I turn towards the voice, sitting up on the rock-hard surface, just a thin layer of cushion separating me from the concrete slab.
The man sitting on a metal chair just inches from the bed twirls a plastic card in his fingers before holding it in between his index and middle finger. He flashes the card displaying my photo and name, “you’re a little far from Amity, don’t you think?”
“Where am I?” I ask, still dazed by the painful dream.
“The more important question is: What were you doing within the walls of Dauntless during a time of conflict?” He lifts an eyebrow at me, the piercing above his right eyebrow catches my attention. I look him up and down noticing his tattoos and large frame.
“I was delivering this month’s ration, I don’t remember what happened.”
He sucks his teeth at me as he shoves my I.D. into his pocket, “Doesn’t sound very likely.”
He sighs impatiently, “No vehicle, no escort, reports say you were snooping around the housing area. Not much delivering in my opinion.”
The room was cold, in temperature and in color. The walls were concrete, the floor was concrete, everything was either gray or black. The small room only had a backbreaking bed and a metal table chained to the floor with a chair to match. Next to the table, window facing the lifeless outside that surrounded dauntless in the last decade. Opposite, was a heavy metal door and a large window that allowed more than enough view into the depressing room.
“You don’t have the authority to hold me here, even if you suspect me of doing whatever it is you think I did,” I argued.
The strange man lets out a humorless chuckle, “No one gives a shit about the Communal Laws. We operate above them.” He looks away for a second before looking back at me, “You’ve been detained under suspicion of espionage, regardless we’re within our right.”
He stands suddenly, the chair letting out a screech as it slides against the hard floor.
“I’ll be back,” He says, the heavy metal door slides open, green lights flashing around it. “The sooner you talk, the sooner this ends.” The door slams shut behind him, and I see his figure walking past in the darkened glass.
RW: Fear - Eric Coulter
(A/N) Here it is! I really don’t know how to feel about this one....I love the request, but I don’t feel like I did it justice...well, I still hope you enjoy it.
Pairing: Eric Coulter x Redaer
Warnings: nightmare, fear, panic, blood, bad coping
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
Wake up.
Wake up.
With a jerk, my body shot upright. My eyes ripped open as my hands clamped down over my mouth, barely holding back the scream that tried to escape me. My whole body was shivering and it took me a minute to realize that the images I’d just seen were a dream. A nightmare.
I let myself fall back onto the thin mattress, willing my heart to stop beating so quickly. Closing my eyes, I tried to think about the good things. My parents, my sister, my dog. But nothing helped. I sat up again, cursing the rules and ways of the Amity. Being dosed with the serum whenever we had a nightmare or a panic attack or any negative emotion in general.
I tried taking deep breaths, pressed my hands against my chest and even tried pinching myself. All the things I was told would calm someone, but whenever I stopped distracting myself, the images came back.
A factionless, grabbing me and dragging me away from my parents. It took the Dauntless soldiers hours before they found me. They shot the man.
With fresh, new fear shooting through me, I pushed the blanket off me and slipped into my sneakers. As quietly as possible, I sneaked out of the room and up the stairs, my feet carrying me to the training room.
What I didn’t know, is that, although I tried to be as quiet as possible, I woke someone up.
Eric POV
I frowned as I watched Y/N sneaking around the beds. She was heading for the stairs.
As soon as she was gone, I laid back down, trying to go back to sleep. But every time I closed my eyes, Y/N heading up the stairs appeared before me. I had to admit that I’d grown to care about her. Sure, she was competition, serious competition even, but the sweet girl from Amity, who could throw a mean punch if needed had captured my heart only a few weeks into initiation.
After waiting for a few minutes, I decided to give up on sleep for the night and instead follow Y/N. Not to spy or anything. I just wanted to make sure that she was okay.
I slipped on my shoes and grabbed my jacket before following her. But as I arrived at the top of the stairs, I realized that I had no idea where she’d gone to. The idea of going back to bed appeared in my head, but I immediately decided against it. Instead, I mentally listed all the locations she could be at and decided to search each of them.
Kitchen, nope.
Med bay, nah.
Chasm, no.
Pit, no one in sight.
Roof, nada.
The only place left was the training room. And I wish I’d searcher there earlier. The closer I came to it, the louder the noises grew. I frowned as my steps instinctively quickened. Only when I stood at the door, did I realize what the noises were.
Y/N was standing in front of a punching bag, throwing one punch after the other. No breaks, no hesitation. But as she drew her fist back, I noticed something shining on her knuckles. It reflected the light in a weird way, and I stepped a bit closer, until I recognized the red color. Blood.
She’d been punching for so long, that she managed to bust the skin covering her knuckles. I walked up to her with quick steps, and grabbed her wrist, midway to the punching bag.
Her eyes snapped to me and I almost jumped. They were blown wide and red. Tears stained her cheeks and were still running down her face and snot was running from her nose.
“Y/N…” She didn’t answer. Instead, she ripped her hand from my grip and returned to punching.
“Y/N.” No reaction.
“Y/N!” I roughly grabbed her shoulders and turned her to look at me. Out of reflex, one of her fists connected with my jaw, sending me stumbling back. As I looked up, I found her staring at me with a worried look.
“Eric…I…” Her hands, still balled into fists hung beside her body, letting blood drip to the ground. I quickly gathered myself and walked up to her. She still stared at me, following my every move with her eyes.
I noticed her muscles tensing up as I stepped closer to her, but I quickly raised my hands.
“I won’t hurt you. I promise.” She slowly nodded and relaxed again.
Just as slowly, I reached down and lifted one of her hands. It was a bloody mess. Literally. With a sigh, I slowly lead her over to the benches and told her to sit down, while I grabbed a med kit. She did as told and waited for me to return. She hung her head and I could hear drops of something hit the floor. Whether it was blood or tears, or both, I didn’t know.
I returned to her and kneeled down in front of her, raising her face with a finger. Her eyes met mine and even more tears welled up in her eyes.
“Ssshh…” I grabbed a cloth and carefully started to wipe the tears and snot away. When that was done, I turned my attention to her knuckles. Some of that blood had dried by now, making it hard to see the actual wounds.
I rummaged through the med kit until I found some disinfectant and cotton balls.
“This is going to stink.” I dowsed the cotton ball in the liquid and carefully started to clean up the knuckles. The first time that the cotton ball touched Y/N’s skin, her other hand shot out and grabbed my shirt at the shoulder. Her face was scrunched up in discomfort and I decided to get this over with as quickly as possible.
As soon as her hands were clean, I put some ointment on the wounds before I wrapped both hands up. I threw away the trash and put back the med kit before I sat down next to Y/N. As soon as I did, she leaned on my shoulder. I wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Y/N weakly shook her head and I nodded.
“Okay…but…next time. Wake me up, okay? Before you do…that.” This time she nodded, still as weakly though.
We sat there for a while just enjoying each other’s company before I noticed Y/N shivering beside me. I grabbed the jacket I brought and carefully wrapped it around her shoulders, smiling when I noticed how big it was on her.
After about half an hour, I noticed light snores coming from the girl next to me. One look at the clock told me that we had only two more hours before the trainers would probably wake up us.
I quickly picked Y/N up and carried her back to hall all initiates sleep in. Carefully, I placed her in her bed, took of her shoes and pulled the blanket over her. I went back to my bed and tried to catch a bit more sleep before the next day of training began.
The next day, as everyone was getting ready, I walked over to Y/N’S bed.
“Change bed with me.” The boy, who had the bed next to Y/N’s looked surprised.
“No.” I raised an eyebrow, surprised that he dared say no. He and the other initiates are usually more afraid of me.
“It wasn’t a question.” I glared at him until he gave up and quickly grabbed his stuff before darting in the direction of my bed. Y/N looked at me surprised, but I just shrugged, so she continued getting ready.
Most of the initiates had already left when Y/N approached me. She held out the jacket I’d draped over her last night.
“I…thank you.” I smiled at her. When she wasn’t in the ring, she was quiet and timid. Cute.
“Keep it. It looks better on you.” A smile took over her face and she pulled it on. She turned to follow the other ones, before she turned back again, and looked at me.
“What?” I chuckled.
“Are you coming?” She was waiting for me. With another chuckle, I nodded and together we made our way to breakfast.

FIGHT FOR YOU (2/?)
FANDOM: Divergent
PAIRING: Eric Coulter x Fem!Reader
SUMMARY: this is after four+eric's initiation and before tris'. this will be the build up of the characters as we got introduced to them as well as maybe the society. not just a love story but we aim for characters' growth and storytelling.
WORDS: 2.8K
A/N: again, letting the story build itself. in this chapter are we surprised there's a lot more rambling and slow building of the world that we know, getting to know our new characters and just building up for the big action to come. Hopefully once we pass our basic well-known start to the story we can start letting it flow and move on from the usual narrative. btw tysm for losing any time of your day to read this if you do, truly every interaction makes my day, i'm really enjoying this process, hope you too<3
Tumblr media
As the other people began to jump one by one, you couldn't help but join in on the conversation that was taking place in the group. A Dauntless born was explaining how he tried to help someone from Amity to get into the wagon, but they didn't arrive on time and fell down the rails.
After everyone had safely jumped off the roof, there was an absolute uproar. Many of the curious onlookers started to leave as the last one rolled out of the net. Some were family members, others could be senior officials and others simply curious onlookers, perhaps dreaming of the day that it will be their turn to begin their initiation into their faction.
The two who had been assisting the newcomers the entire time, Lauren and Four, introduced themselves as your couches.
"I can see that we are one less than expected" Four comments, since he was helping newcomers to get off the net all the time, he didn't have time to catch up. "Yes, Anderson has told us how he tried to help a boy from Amity get on the train, but he couldn't" Lauren explained to Four and to the possible companions who hadn't heard. "Yeah, I thought I didn't see Cristian anywhere." Winter whispered to you, "And what will happen to him then?" she asked out loud. "He will be with the factionless, of course." Four quickly replied coldly.
You could feel how Winter's body tensed next to you. And you did too, knowing how easy and for something so simple they lost a potential good member. But nor Laura or Four allowed you to keep still with that thought as they started guiding you inside the compound. "I'd much rather to die with dignity than be with the factionless" a Dauntless born whispered as you agreed with him silently.
"Alright, from this point on. We're going to separate you into groups. Those of you born in Dauntless, please come with me" Lauren informed, pointing to the right for all the black clad to group together. "This is going to be quick" she whispered to her partner who smiled back at her. "See you at dinner." She waved goodbye to the smaller group of transferees and began leading the group towards a tunnel opposite them.
"Okay, you transferees stay with me, come on, we've got places to go before dinner," he ordered as he led the way into a tunnel opposite the one her Dauntless-born companions took.
"Why the division? Have we already started with favorites?" Rose made an accusation, stopping Four in his way and consequently the whole group. "Sorry?" His cold disapproving and disgust face said it all. "Your name?" He demands slowly. "Rose" she replied, holding his gaze. "Well, Rose, I don't know what they teach you in Candor, but you would like to know that we don't waste time here, we have more important things to do. Those born in Dauntless know the way to these passages like the back of their hand" He commented with clear contempt in his voice. Rose stood her ground, but you could see how her gaze had shrunk. "In fact, if you have any problem with us separating you, you won't like to know that you will be trained separately, and you will even sleep in separate rooms. But don't worry, I invite you to run towards there, maybe you'll still catch them, and they might share a few tips with you, let's see how long you last there." Four suggest.
Everyone remained in silence, not knowing where to look. Rose remained still looking confused, not knowing what to do, "What are you still doing here stuck up? Go" he yelled at her. You could feel her frustration, grasping her own fist but knew better to reply. She couldn't hide the death glare given to Four before turning back, trying to find her way out to the start point and to the other group.
And just like that, fear had settled in everyone presence, you could smell tension in the environment in contrast to the euphoria that everyone felt at having jumped down the hole. How soon things could go wrong here.
Four pushed open a set of double doors, and we entered the place he calls "The Pit," a massive underground cavern filled with supplies. People are everywhere, all in black, screaming and talking, children playing. It truly was Dauntless' heart.
"This way" Four announces after allowing a few minutes for them to immerse in what would be their new normal. He leads us to the right side of the Moat, which is much darker, and as we get closer I think I hear water. The road shakes with each step and when I realize it, several floors below there is a river.
"The abyss reminds us that there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. A daredevil who jumps from this ledge will end his life. It has happened before, and it will happen again." he warned us. "Right this way it's the cafeteria and the tattoo parlor, but let's go the other way to your room first"
When we got to our room, there was a stack of bags waiting for them. "The transferees will all sleep here together till further notice, so get in a line, grab your new clothes from me, and enter. Pick a bed, then get comfortable. When you leave, gather all the clothing you're wearing now and leave it by the door, so we can burn it. There is no room for rags from other factions now that you are Dauntless." he commented as he passed one by one a bag with the same standard black and red clothes for each.
After Winter, you stepped in line and slowly moved forward to pick up your stuff and enter what would be your temporary accommodation. You were astonished when you first walked in, since there were so many mattresses packed into a little living area. How were you expected to have privacy? Winter was waving to you in the room as you searched for her, alerting you that a bed was free next to her, so you hastily made your way there. It was the first time you had slept in a room with so many people, so you preferred to have acquaintances nearby. "Those in the back say that there are no walls in the bathrooms, not even for the showers" Winter gasped.
As soon as the last one entered you watched how Four followed them, looking around scanning the room "Alright, this bag stays here for your partner's extra clothes that didn't make it to the compound, so feel free to get whatever you need and this will be for our friend Rose, we'll leave it... there, let her keep the bed in the back next to the bathroom" he commented while approaching the bed and looking at one boy who had selected that bed.
"Oh don't mind me, this is the worst spot, I'm doing you a favor, I think there's a free one there," he said before the boy could even speak, pointing to the bed in front of the room. "She won't be with those born here?" Asked a companion. "Oh no, it wouldn't be fair. Trust me when we say we want you to have your best shot, tomorrow when the initiation is explained, you'll understand. Today is the day of the ceremony, don't take it as the threats won't be real starting tomorrow. Today I think the message has been made clear, and for all of you too." He concluded as he walked around the room to the entrance. "I'll let you settle in, we'll have dinner in half an hour, be punctual."
When Four left, everyone was silent, processing everything that had happened to them in such a short time. Four could certainly be very harsh, but he had also shown empathy and created enough respect on your end. "So we'll all have to change and live here together?" Winter asked. "It seems so" you added shockingly as you sat on the bed. Hard mattress, you sighed. "They're just bodies, in two days the nonsense will have passed to all of us" Corinne commented as she approached the group.
"Well, we have half an hour… let's see what they've given us" you added as you didn't want to think about the fact of everyone being able to look at your naked body. You opened your bags to see the clothes to which you will survive these weeks: training clothes, street clothes, some more comfortable, some pajamas all black and red, your new faction colors. You looked around you, most of them in groups, some from the same faction, others from different ones chatting or just simply by themselves as they began to change.
"Who would have thought, Y/M a voyeur" Milan teased you and quickly blushed and looked at your accuser. "What? No!" You exclaimed. "I'm glad to see you Milan, you've been very brave today to jump first" you smiled at your former Erudite colleague, even though you didn't hang out with the same group of friends, you both knew who you were, and you two never had any problems. "Thanks, I was quite terrified, but I thought they weren't crazy enough to kill us all on the first day, were they?" he joked. "Yeah, I realized that when one of Dauntless jumped smiling after you, as if he had been wanting it all his life, nothing bad could have been there… oh girls, I present to you Milan the first jumper, these are Winter and Corinne" you introduced while they were getting dressed.
The four of you talked for a short while as Winter just got changed without a hitch, and you were surprised at how Milan kept his composure. Quickly some colleagues called him to go together to the cafeteria, he said goodbye advising you to change quickly because with all the talking you had not even started yet, and you saw how he picked up his clothes and left them in the colorful pile at the entrance just as Four had requested.
All through today, you've used people's clothing to identify them and learn more about them, but now you wouldn't be able to do so. Despite the fact that you were all Dauntless, you were not all the same even in if in the core you were, and that was a thought you never had before. The burning of the clothing that had been a part of you for so long and served as a reminder of your former home made you feel a little sad. Even though we had to throw it all away, you chose to save a small brooch that you always wore and kept it in the first drawer, so you could always claim that it was familiar and hope that it managed to slip through. Winter tried to reassure you, "They are literally just clothes, it's not like you're burning all your memories with them too," and you nodded because you knew she was correct. As the room became increasingly empty, you rapidly changed, taking care to ensure that no one could see more than they should, and the three of you went to the dining room.
You were taken aback by the commotion of people talking together as if they were one big group, even though you had not yet entered the cafeteria. You weren't used to a cafeteria other than the one at school, but you soon realized it didn't make much of a difference. With all the adrenaline, you hadn't eaten much all day, but those fragrances had revived your appetite. There weren't many options, but they all seemed excellent to you.
With your tray in hand, you mingled with the crowd in search of a table, but everyone appeared to have taken a seat, few people looking at you, you totally felt like you had a 'newbie' tag on your back. You scanned the first floor and smiled at the see what you were looking for. "This way" you indicated to the other two. You approached the table where Milan and other colleagues were. "Hey, do you have three free seats?" Asked. "Only two, I'm afraid" Milan replied with a half smile. "There's a spot here" you heard someone say to you from the table behind, it was Alvin. "Sit down Y/M" he offered.
Winter was staring at you as Corinne was already seated at the other table with Milan. You would have to ask one of the two at some point what happened that they seemed to dislike each other so much, "Sure," you said smiling at Winter indicating that nothing was wrong. "Thanks Alvin, I'm Y/M" you said, introducing yourself to the group. "Anderson" "Ember" added those around you who were listening to you. "You're also a transfer, right? From where?" Anderson asked. "Erudite and you?" you responded. "We're both from here, what do you think of the compound?" Ember replied "Well, I don't know what I was expecting, but this is great" you replied while you started to eat. "God I was so hungry, how delicious" you gasped, making everyone laugh.
As you were chit-chatting with the Dauntless born learning more about their lives in here, people began to bang their feet hard on the ground, the atmosphere was livened up, people hit the metal cups with their spoons. "He's coming," cheered Ember. "Who?" You and Alvin asked at the same time. "Max, our highest ranking leader." Anderson explained "Shh, he's here." he requested pointing at the second floor, so you fixed your gaze to find Max leaning into it ready to speak out.
"Initiates, stand up." Max paused as you all rise. "You have chosen to join the warrior faction, with the assignment to protect the city and its citizens. We believe in the simple acts of bravery and courage that drive one person to stand up for another. Respect that. Make us proud." he concluded, people started to cheer on as he left. You look at your fellow initiative acquaintances and smiled. You felt part of something important. Everything was so novel and dissimilar to your previous experience, it made you so excited to see what the future held for you.
All the initiatives returned to their respective rooms in a group. You hurried to the restroom to freshen yourself a bit and change into some more cozy pajamas for bed. And despite the fact that you were all brimming with enthusiasm for what lay ahead, you all silently agreed that it would be wise to attempt to get a good night's sleep. Your first day of training was tomorrow, so you needed to get plenty of rest. Your mind was racing as you laid there in the silent with all the lights off. It seemed like a lifetime had passed since the Choosing Ceremony this afternoon.
All of these individuals, who in the past would not have ever crossed paths, were now getting along and feeling like a part of something greater than themselves. Not everything, however, had been lovely since today; in just one day, you had experienced so many bizarre things, such as getting on and off a train multiple times, plunging into the abyss, losing your only possessions and privacy, and the icy manner in which Four revealed that Amity's weak initiative would cause Factionless status since she lacked the necessary bravery. What if the ability to be emotionally strong and emotionally detached came at the expense of not feeling pain when catastrophes like these occurred?
You understood that this was just the beginning of your new life. This was only a preview of what lay ahead. And now, you could see it. Dauntless was incredibly well-organized and accustomed to taking risks: listening to instructions, putting mutual trust in one another to lead you securely, and acting without giving it any thought. They had to be tough to withstand not only the physical pressure, but also the emotional pressure of losing everything they have because of it. They forced you to perform all of these tasks today for that reason. You weren't sure if you were simply interpreting things too literally. Your mind was trained to think logically and rationally and gather all the information you could. Was it your overthinking alone, or was there something else at play?
Although it would take you some time to get to it and forget your old patterns, you were certain that you would figure it out, or else you wouldn't have been selected as Dauntless. But you had never thought so much about them in that way to realize the sacrifices that had to be made, and you felt stupid for not realizing before, that just like in Erudite, that was much more than intelligence, here it was not just about being brave and fighting.
And with that thought you began to close your eyes unconsciously and fell into a deep sleep as tomorrow impatiently arrived.

Little Doves find love in the strangest ways
Eric x reader
Words: 1944
I’m cruising down flop street but I’m still feeling sweet.
*GIFS NOT MINE*
Also let me know if you want other characters. LEAVE SOME REQUESTS!
Y/n. That was the name you were now living with. That was the name you decided to stick with as soon as you hit the net. You had been asked and that was your decision. Your first day in Dauntless was well daunting.  Making friends was easy being from Amity. Kill them with kindness was basically your motto. You had joined a pretty houmous and lively clique that gladly welcomed you. The first night with the faction transfers was one of your favourites. Most of the group got tattoos but you opted for a personalized necklace. One charm had your name on a vinyl record made of gold and another said ‘Amity’ on a tree. You loved music and you left Amity.  That was the first day.  Everything after that got exceptionally harder.
Physical training wasn’t horrible but you also weren’t a ‘champion’. I guess doing some heavy, weight work in Amity helped with your muscle mass. One week you did phenomenally but the next you were setup to fight Peter and lets say, a few bruises and one excruciatingly painful headache made you lose the Amity spring in your step. Losing that fight brought your rank down a debatable amount. Deciding to not cause a ruckus you kept your mouth shut and dealt with it.  The decrease did however deplete your motivation leaving you with a few lazy punches or easy blocks causing you to earn a couple of bruises.
“Dove, in the ring!” Four’s voice shouted.
Dove was the nickname you got being one of the few Amity transfers. It was Will’s doing because doves are a symbol of purity and peace, and so are you according to him.  Your bare feet padded across the cool smooth concrete and onto the springy mat. You cocked your head to the side, wordlessly asking who you would be fighting.
“Al, jump in.”
Oh come on. Al was obviously no match for you, he was to soft. Although according to others so were you. Eric gave the signal and you began to dance around the ring, arms up with Al.
“Today initiates!” Eric’s voice demanded sounding obviously bored.
You let out a sigh and stepped forward. Lifting you leg up and twisting your body you roundhouse kicked Al in the face knocking him out cold.
As you reached down and picked up his unconscious body you let out the word
“Sorry.”
The weight was semi-relieved as another person helped you with the unconscious boy.
“Don’t apologise initiate.”
Eric.
“Sorry.”
This made you mentally facepalm.
“Oh my God, Sorry!”
Eric’s steel blue eyes glared at you as the two of you walked the halls to the infirmary.
“Holy shit Y/n stop it!” You scolded yourself.
You tiny outburst of embarrassment seemed humourous to Eric who let out a chuckle.
“Don’t laugh at me! It’s not my fault, I blame the bread!”
“Oh little Dove, how innocent you are.” Eric teased, still laughing a little.
Al was dropped into a hospital bed and you made your way back to the training center. Partnering up with Will, you practiced some basic skills involving blocking, jabs and throat hits.
“All right get out!” Eric shouted.
Everyone began to shuffle out the room including you.
“Dove, stay back!”
“UGH!” You groaned clearly annoyed.
Everyone you passed gave you sympathetic looks or a quick ‘good luck’.
“What do you require, Sir?”
“Well I was going to offer you help but with that attitude I don’t think so.”
“Oh great! So I can go and shower now? I really need to.” You jumped from foot to foot towards the door. Peeking your head round the corner you smiled. “Oh Eric? I may be from Amity but you won’t find me begging.” You winked and swiftly made your way back to the dorm room retiring to bed after a much needed shower.
The next week or so Eric kept holding you back, giving you useless jobs to do.
“We don’t even use these knives Eric. Why do I have to sharpen them?”
“Because little innocent Dove, I’m exposing your pure self to dangerous items.” Eric teased.
“Oh my-! I’ve had it with you! I’M NOT INNOCENT!”  Your rageful outburst took over your body and the next thing you knew you had hurled a knife straight into Eric’s shoulder.  “Oh for fucks sake!”  The adrenaline coursing through your veins gave you enough courage to grab Eric by the hand and drag him through the halls to his apartment.
“Code?”
“Do I even want to know why you know where I live?” Eric questioned punching in his code.
The door slid open sending a cool breeze over you.  “For your information, I wish to know my way around thank you. Apparently I’m already gullible enough as is.”
Eric chuckled which caused a muffled groan.
“Hey, you pushed my buttons that what you deserve.”
“Touché”
Silence fell over the apartment and you dragged Eric into his bathroom. Frantically searching for his first-aid kit you seized the bright red bag and unzipped it. The contents exploded and you found exactly what you needed.
“Brace yourself.” You said wrapping your fingers around the knife’s handle.
Eric grabbed the bench and you yanked the blade from his skin. He let out a string of mangled groans expressing his agony.
“Shirt.” You guestured.
“Is this an excuse to see me shirtless, not so innocent, little Dove?” Eric flirted.
“It’s either I fix this or you get infected, because we both know you’re too stubborn to tell the nurse an initiate stabbed you.”
Eric rolled his eyes and lifted his shirt over his head with minimal staining to his shoulder. You were awestruck at his Greek God physique. Holy shit, this man is fit. His six pack basically shines like the sun and it’s so hard not to look away.  But you do, opting to unscrew the lid on some antiseptic liquid to keep from drooling. Pouring some onto a wad of spare gauze you warned the Dauntless leader again.
“This is gonna sting like a bitch.”
“I think I can hand-”
Eric cut himself off with a sharp intake of breath as you pressed the soaked gauze onto his bleeding wound. The shocking action caused his hands to latch onto the nearest thing. Your hips.  Your cheeks flushed as your y/e/c eyes met his steel blue ones, causing him to smirk.
“You’ve got a nice set of love handles here Dove.”
“Well your pretty bold aren’t you, Sir?” You replied using the gauze to wipe the excess blood.
Putting the wad in the trash, you fiddled with the needle struggling to thread it. After about the fifth attempt the thread went through and you secured a knot onto the end.  You rested your hand onto Eric’s protruding bicep and pierced his skin dragging it back in and out repeatedly. Once the wound was closed you cut the thread and taped down a fresh pad of gauze overtop to keep it clean. You cleaned up the bench in silence then reopened the cupboard and grabbed some aspirin. Popping two pills out the bottle you handed them to Eric who took them and without saying anything retreated to the kitchen. You put the bottle and kit back, closing the door and exiting the bathroom.
Walking towards the door you pushed the button and it slid open.  “Where are you going Initiate?” “To hopefully get some privacy for a shower.” “Here.” Eric walked over to his dresser and grabbed a plain black t-shirt throwing it to you.  “Care to join?” You teased.  Eric scoffed and you dashed into the bathroom.
Once the warm water hit your skin,you were a moaning mess. The steam clouded the glass and you completed your usual routine. Parting with the heat, you dried off and slipped Eric’s shirt over your head. The shirt sat mid-thigh and complemented your curves. You braided your hair into a simple plait and let it fall to one side. Exiting the bathroom the smell of cheesy goodness filled your nostrils.
“Why are your showers so much better? It’s not fair.”
“Because Dove, we are privileged from passing initiation.” He responded handing you a bowl of Mac n cheese.
“You’re starting to grow on me Coulter. I’m not sure if I should be afraid or intrigued.”
Eric moved closer towards you. Putting his bowl on the bench, the action which you repeated. Eric’s boots made two short steps towards you ending up face to face with you. His minty breath casted a cool breeze to fall on your lips. You swiftly looked down at the black combat boots encasing your feet, that was until you felt the soft touch of Eric’s fingers under your chin pushing it upwards. Your gaze met his and you flirtatiously blinked smiling a little towards him.
“Both.”
And with that Eric closed the gap between you, connecting at the lips, eyes closed. The kiss was slow and filled with passion. You deepened the kiss by turning you head to the side and lifting your hand to hold Eric’s neck. The sound of your heartbeat heavy in your ears balanced out the apartment’s silence as Eric’s crisp breath calmed you. Your tense muscles relaxed as Eric placed a hand on your hip and the other on your cheek. He began to walk, backing you into the kitchen bench you were lifted up and onto the frigid marble countertop. Eric stepped between you legs that wrapped themselves around his still bare torso. You wrapped your arms around his neck and began to tug at his hair. Eric let out a low groan and you broke away from his addictive lips letting out a small giggle.
“Enjoying yourself Coulter?” You giggled again.
“Little Dove, whatever should I do with you?”
“Hmm…this.”
You leaned forwards and pressed a lasting kiss to Eric’s lips before teasingly pulling away and resting your forehead against his.
“I should go.” You whispered disappointed.
Eric pulled away and helped you down from the counter. You gave him a chaste kiss and swiftly walked to the door. You looked over your shoulder and quipped.
“Keep that shoulder clean, yeah?”
You left the apartment and quickly returned to the dorm room hoping not to get flooded with questions.
Your eyes peeked through the crowd of various hair colours in search of the scoreboard. Your name was situated on the third rung meaning not only did you pass initiation you made it to top three. Tris, one of your close friends, sat at the top taking her well earned spot as overall ‘winner’.
“Top three initiate. Well deserved.” The rugged voice of your secret boyfriend whispered into you ear.
“Thank you Sir.”
You reached your arms up and held the back of his head, running your fingers through his hair.
“You’re mine now.” He grumbled and you tilted your head to meet him.
“I suppose so.” You whispered against his lips.
“HEY EVERYONE! I FOUND OUT WHY ERIC WAS BEING NICER!”
Everyone in the room quickly shut up and stared at the pair of you.
“WILL! I SWEAR TO SATAN I’LL KI-”
Eric’s lips captured your words and disolved them into the kiss. The once silent Pit erupted in cheers and wolf whistles egging you on.   When you broke apart, the crowd cheered even louder and a few people you knew, including Tris who knowingly hated Eric, congratulated you.  The Pit died down only to spike back up at the loud music blasted through large speakers and the party officially began.
“It’s this Dove’s time to fly!” You shouted running off into the crowd of dancing Dauntless.
And fly you did.

Would you be willing to do an Eric Coulter arranged marriage AU one shot where Eric and reader are put into an arranged marriage to further unite Erudite and Dauntless, or a soulmate AU one shot where the reader is originally from Erudite and switched to dauntless, she works as a doctor and they meet after Eric ends up in the infirmary for some reason. In either case, the reader is early 20’s and Eric is around 26, and everyone is older when the choosing ceremony takes place instead of being teenagers.
Cara Mia
Eric Coulter x fem reader (Jeanine's daughter)
Tumblr media
"What the fuck, you put me in an arranged marriage", Eric yelled angrily toward Max.
yes, but it's beneficial because the girl you are marrying is Jeanine's daughter and is to further unite Erudite and Dauntless", Max said walking up to Eric and handing him a picture of you.
It was a picture of you in blue clothes with your hair down smiling in the photo. Eric had to admit you were beautiful, but it didn't matter, he wasn't the type to settle down.
"When do I meet her?", Eric said stuffing the photo in his back pocket.
"Tomorrow".
Y/N P.O.V
What, No mom I refused to get married to a guy I don't even know", You complained to your mom. You always knew this would happen, your mother using you for her own personal gain but you wished it wasn't today.
"It doesn't matter you will meet him tomorrow and you will get married whether you like or not. He's a Dauntless leader one of the youngest and was originally from Erudite himself". Jeanine finishes with no emotion on her stone-cold face.
She made it sound so easy to get married to a complete stranger but you had to do you had no other choice. She gave you a picture of the Dauntless leader, he looked scary with his piercings and tattoos. Blond hair and all-black outfits showing off his arms, no smile but his blue eyes were the most beautiful of his features.
"When do I meet him?-"
"Tomorrow"
I couldn't sleep at all, thinking about my future husband. What if he hates me? What if ignores me? so many scenarios coming to my head. I was too nervous to sleep waiting anxiously to meet my future husband.
I woke early the next morning trying to figure out what to wear.
"Good, you look presentable", my mother said before leaving out the door towards the car. I followed her waiting anxiously till we arrived.
Two Dauntless guards escorted us out of the car to the head of the leader of the Dauntless office.
I saw the guy in the photo looking displeased at everything, I could tell he wasn't so thrilled about the engagement.
"Eric this is my daughter", Jeanine introduced us to each other.
"we will leave you alone to get to know each other better", Max said before walking out with my mother closing the door.
"Look we both know we are not happy about this engagement but we should make the most of it right", I said but in return, I only heard a scoff.
"It doesn't matter but you should be happy to marry a dauntless leader like me, Cara Mia", Eric said in a cocky tone stepping closer to me.
Blushing I replied, "Why don't we try to get to each other, I'm Y/n, I am 20 years old, and my favorite color is (whatever you want)."
"Eric a Dauntless leader, 26, and Black"
"Isn't that just a fitting color for", I said gesturing to his clothes. For the first time, I saw him smile since I came here, which was beautiful.
We continued to talk and laugh, getting to know each other and surprisingly we had a lot in common. It wasn't until Eric had pointed out the time we had been talking for two hours.
Time skip Eric P.O.V
"where the fuck is she?" Eric mumbled in annoyance entering the cafeteria, his eyes landed on Four, who was seated by the table alone. Somehow you and Four became best friends forcing him to tolerate Four.
Huffing, Eric approached the table Four was seated at. "what do you want Eric? I thought you were tired of me after you kicked me out of the training session earlier."
"That's because you disobeyed my orders by interrupting my session, with that being said have you seen my wife", Eric said barely looking at Four.
It's weird how fast Eric's life changed since he got married. He never imagined getting married but never thought he could enjoy being someone's husband. He usually calls you by your name but for some reason, the word wife feels good to say especially if it's you. There was no doubt in his mind that you were the best thing to ever happen to him, his everything.
"no, I haven't seen Y/n", Four said in a neutral voice.
Eric left after Four's reply stomping out of the canteen, making sure to brush a few weak initiates out of his way.
Eric thought not only were born with a sharp Erudite mind but a witty tongue, but you were also beautiful.
With steady steps, Eric quickly made his way down the corridors, a hard look on his face trying to remember where you were. With a slight grin, he thought back to last night when you two shared a steamy shower under the moonlight.
Eric was truly happy to see your face every morning when waking up. He was lucky to be your husband, to have in-depth conversations with you about whatever, to please you in every way possible, to read to you every night in bed, and then talk about the book.
Then he hurriedly walked towards the library, Eric could not help but smile when seeing your figure which appeared in the doorway of the library, your nose stuck in the book.
Eric stood in the shadows, watching your figure walk right past him. He looks at you for a second before looking down at the book, smiling slightly as he sees you are reading one of his favorite books " The Tale of Two Cities". Dauntless people did not read, especially not good novels but back in Erudite, he was aware this book was popular.
Emerging slowly out of the shadows, Eric firmly gripped your waist from behind, gently kissing your cheek. Before he knew a book came crashing down on his cheek, hard. As you swung around getting ready to punch doing the exact thing Eric had trained you to do.
"Eric Coulter, you dummy", you shouted at him before letting out a giggle as you noticed his faint red color cheek.
Meeting your eyes, Eric let out a laugh while rubbing his cheek. "I have been looking everywhere for you Cara Mia, I didn't think you were here after you completely emptied to library yesterday.
"well I was looking for this book, so I came back", You told him kissing red cheek. When you married Eric it was like a dream, already been a year. Even though it was an arranged marriage it was purely all love.
His lips gently brushed against yours, memorizing the feeling of your lips against his before he let go," You're my wife, my everything. My world, I don't know what I'd do without you. Let me show how much I appreciate you, Cara Mia".

Burning Sunflowers
Chapter 6
The cafeteria is louder than any room I've ever been in. No matter the fact that Amity is known for being talkative, we were never like this, so uninhibited.
"Where should we sit?" Clare asks, eyes scanning the room. Most of the tables around us seem to be full, leaving only two options, try and sit in with the dauntless born who - despite the kindness of Kai - seem more inclined to bite us than their food, or to cram in next to Eric. He sits with only one other person but the table remains empty besides them.
I nod my head at the leader and start walking forward, looks like this is our best bet.
Owen and Clare reach the table first, taking seats next to the other man, leaving me to sit next to Eric. My arm brushes his jacket as I sit and it sends a small shiver down my spine.
I can feel their conversation stop at our intrusion but pay them no mind as I begin loading up a plate.
Some of the food I recognize, basic fruits and vegetables, but others I've never seen before. With hesitant fingers I pinch at the circular slab of meat and place it onto my tray, it seems foreign among the rest of my plant based meal.
"What, have you never seen a hamburger before?" The man asks, he smiles at me and I can't tell if I should be embarrassed.
"Uh, no." I shake my head, grabbing a fork and knife to cut it with. "Amity is mainly vegetarian unless you raise the animal yourself, but even then we tend to keep them as pets before..." I glance at the man again, his head tilted as if interested. His hair, chin length and a dirty kind of blonde, hangs sideways.
"What?" I question, confused at his stare.
"Nothing, it's just not every day that we get an Amity transfer around here."
"Try 47 years." Clare pipes up mid bite.
"It's been that long?" I ask, feeling more nervous than I was moments ago.
She nods, "And even then they didn't make it, it's actually undocumented how long it's been since a person has successfully made the transition."
I sit down my fork and knife and stare at her in shock.
The man whistles and stares at me again, this time as if I'm a specimen.
"Well then I'll just have to be the first documented." I say, straightening my back and looking back down at my meal. I'm about to pick up my fork when a calloused hand stops me.
"You don't need that." Eric mutters from beside me, his voice deep. He reaches around me and my tray, gathering random items; a bun, pickles, a red sauce, and onions. He stacks them all together before setting it down for me.
I look up to see his eyes already on my face, his gaze intense.
"Try it." He motions with a hand.
Picking it up with too hands, I lean forward, sniffing slightly before taking a bite. My eyes close as flavor explodes in my mouth and I stifle back a moan.
"This.." I try and chew as quickly as I can so I'm able to speak. "Is absolutely amazing." I smile wide.
He merely smirks at me before turning back to his friend, saying something, and rising from his seat. Before he walks away fully he looks down at me.
"Glad you like it, Sunflower."
I mean to respond but he's already too far from the table for me to speak by the time my mouth catches up to my brain.
"So let me guess," the man pipes up again, leaving me to shake off the feeling that had came over me. "Amity," he nods to me exaggeratedly as if it was completely obvious, "Erudite," he points at Clare with his fork, "and Abnegation?" He signals at Owen, the only one he seems to be hesitant on.
"That was pretty good." Clare comments a smile pulling on her lips.
"Candor?" I ask looking at him, speaking in between bites of my hamburger. He gives me a shocked expression but nods in confirmations.
"How'd you guess?" He seems genuinely surprised. I can only shrug at his, going for my drink.
"You're the best at perception, always trying to pick up on people's ticks. Doesn't surprise me that you'd be able to read us that well." Owen gives me a confused look from his end of the table and I explain myself.
"Amity has you take classes on the relations and values of other factions. They always said it was to be sure not to offend them when we came in contact. They called the class 'Knowing Your Friends." I finished with a small laugh, thinking about how odd I thought the experience was at the time, only for it to come in handy now.
"Sounds about like Amity," Clare says joining in with me laughing.
"I'm Luke, by the way, before you somehow guess that too." He smirks at me and extends his hand. I take it, slightly less awkwardly than I had earlier.
"Violet." I respond, giving him a smile. "And that's Clare and Owen."
"Nice to meet you." He says, beginning to look off into the distance, as if bracing for something.
Suddenly an alarm goes off, a short burst of three blaring rings making a few people jump but most just raise their heads to a catwalk that hangs many feet in the air.
"Initiates, stand." A man with deep skin and greying hair calls and we all follow his orders. "I'm Max, a leader here. You have chosen the warrior faction, tasked with the defense of this city and all its inhabitants. We believe in ordinary acts of bravery. In the courage that drives one man to stand up for another. We believe that pain and death are better than inaction." He pauses, glancing around the room and I can feel my heart pounding in my chest as his stare catches on me for a moment before moving on.
"Respect that. Be brave. Do us proud." He finishes and the crowd is moved from near silence into roaring cheers. People pound their cups on tables, their hands together, their feet against the ground. Anything to make noise.
I can't help but feel their unrelenting power flow through me and I smile wider than I have in years. A true smile. I let a cheer out and feel as people grab my body, lifting me to be carried by the crowd. I'm gripped by my clothing, and as I'm passed over from hand to hand I feel a sense of unity like no other.
This is family, not the forced niceties of Amity.
Not the forced smiles.
Unity is the deafening noise of a faction who won't just lay down and die.
They will fight. I will fight.
I am home.

Captive - Ch. 2: The Ghost From Amity
Tumblr media
Eric Coulter x OC Eden Rossi
Chapter 1: Where Am I?
Chapter 3: Ruthless
Note: Sorry it's a short one
Eric makes his way through the various corridors of the holding facility, the guards stand at attention when he comes into view before disappearing down the halls. He sees Four speaking to an initiate in the cafeteria as he passes. Four drops the conversation, speeding up to catch the brooding man.
“What’d she say?”
“Fuck off,” He huffs.
Four rolls his eyes, “Max isn’t gonna let you handle this alone, even if you lead the investigation. Why won’t you work with me on this?” He replies, annoyed with the man’s constant need for conflict.
The two stop in front of two large black doors. Eric turns to his comrade, “It’ll go quickly without you taking part. Knowing you, you’d probably try to fuck her as you do with the initiates, ok?” He says with a shit-eating grin. “That was one time! I don’t know why you need to bring it up all the time.”
Eric pushes through the doors, walking through with Four hot on his heels.
“Any luck with our unexpected prisoner?”
Max sits behind his desk holding a mug to his lips.
“She’s still trying to figure out where she is. I’m not sure if she’s exactly the ‘spy type’.” Eric jokes, remembering the girl’s unthreatening and rather pathetic demeanor.
“Eric, we’re dealing with someone who’s possibly putting up a facade to access our faction, I wouldn’t be surprised if they trained a pile of wheat to wreak havoc on us,” Max says with a grin.
“You’re giving a faction of tree huggers too much credit,” Eric says with venom dripping from his tongue. “I found this in her personal belongings,” He places the I.D. on the desk and slides it towards the leader. “Eden Rossi. Twenty-one years old, Amity by birth, somehow managed to dodge the selection process. I ran her name through the database and it’s almost as if she never existed.”
Max examines the I.D. thoroughly, a look of confusion flashes on his face.
“No relatives… health records?”
“Nothing.”
“Well, She’s old enough to have lived through the invasion. Even if she doesn’t seem like much, she’s still a threat on those grounds alone.” He hands the I.D. back to Eric before standing.
“I want you to shift your main focus onto this matter, Peter will take your place temporarily with the initiates.”
Four lets out a noise that could be described as only pain and annoyance.
“Great, leave me with the biggest moron of all the factions to lead our future.”
Max ignores the remark, shifting his focus back to Eric.
“Whatever it takes, I need to you find out why and how, essentially, a ghost from Amity has ended up on our doorstep.”
Eric nods before heading for the doors, Four still trailing behind him.
“Why don’t you try charming her with your stale personality, maybe that’ll get you some answers.”
Eric rolls his eyes as he leaves Four standing alone in the hallway.

A/N: Finally! It’s been so long since I wrote something for Eric. This is loosely based on a request I got but mainly an idea I have been meaning to write for quite some time now! Enjoy! ♥
Words: 4199 Warnings: very brief mention of a pandemic
Some decisions in life had to be made not out of convenience but because they were the right thing to do. Although you had not gotten Candor for your Aptitude test, the choosing ceremony was the one day in your life you had sworn to be honest to yourself. Despite what everyone would think. Despite what your heart told you. Despite Eric.
You could not have stayed in Dauntless. You were war too peaceful, too much of a pacifist—but against all reason, you had fallen in love with the most dangerous and scariest person of the entire faction. Eric Coulter.
You spent a lot of time together, before he became a leader. Your friendship had involved long nights on the metal bridge right above the chasm when the compound was quiet for once. It had involved training together, fighting together and hoarding cake and muffins in your parents’ apartment. He had loved muffins back in the day. Coming from Erudite, all they had was fizzy drinks. You doubted he still ate muffins or cake these days. Anyway it wasn’t like you’d know. Not after you transferred to the faction Eric positively hated even more than Abnegation.
Amity had been the right choice for you—not only had it been the result of your Aptitude test (which your test administrator had told you with a rather concerned expression)—it was also the faction appealing to you the most. You belonged here; never in Dauntless where the preferred way of solving problems was by throwing fists.
But it had been the moment you had turned away from the bowls filled with whatever represented the respective faction and pressed your thumb to the fresh cut on your palm, when your eyes met his cold and disappointed glare that he was never going to forgive you for leaving him. You almost scoffed at the thought. It sounded like a tragic love story when in fact, you had never actually gone further than sharing passionate kisses. The last few weeks before the choosing ceremony around your sixteenth birthday had been the first time Eric’s subtle touches became more meaningful, more physical—leading to your first kiss in the pit, in the middle of the night, and your first serious relationship. You still remembered this one time he had pulled you on his lap in the middle of the cafeteria, right before the eyes of Four and the other leaders as if to prove a point.
You had been frowned upon, too. It wasn’t just the minor age difference when Eric officially joined the Dauntless leaders. But everyone, including your own friends, had suspected he would favour you, making it harder for other initiates to secure a spot in Dauntless. Well, you were never going to stay anyway. It was just you had never told him that—not until the day you took your Aptitude test.
Several years had passed now. You had not seen Eric once since the day you left Dauntless and since your parents, sharing Eric’s opinion on feeling sick about all the peace and harmony in Amity, never came to visit you for you to ask about him. Without a doubt, he was still a leader. Without a doubt, he was still dangerous and feared. Without a doubt… you still loved him, even after all this time.
You had had one relationship since your transfer, just about long enough to gain some sort of experience, well, non-sexual that was. Up to this day, you wondered would it would be like to have sex with Eric instead. No Amity man had thus far held your interest for longer than a few days when they first began to court and compliment you—and you were fair enough to tell them straight away you did not reciprocate their attraction. None of them was muscly. None of them had intimidating tattoos on their neck and arms and none of them had two piercings above their right eyebrow.
At least you had hopes that at some point, you could forget him, move on and get married to a charming Amity man. That was until Jeanine announced a couple of Divergents and their sympathisers as fugitives—the very same fugitives Johanna was currently hiding in your faction and Dauntless, or whatever was left of it, disrupted the peace.
You jumped from your seat when the trucks arrived, tearing down the wooden fences in the process. It was obvious this was not going to be a courtesy visit. Swallowing thickly, you tried to remember what you had heard on the news. Divergents threatening the faction system, Jeanine trying to stop them from recruiting members of Dauntless to overthrow Abnegation and thus the government…
You did not have to be Candor to know she was lying. You had known a Divergent girl once. She had transferred from Dauntless to Abnegation after her Aptitude test and if anything, she had been terrified she did not seem to fit into only one faction. Four and Tris, they were no threat to the faction system. Their version of the truth was what you believed in. Still, much like Johanna, you did not want any part of this and instead, eat your bread soaked with peace serum.
For a breathless moment that lasted just a second too long, it was awfully quiet. Then, all hell broke loose as aggressive and armed Dauntless soldiers stormed into the open cafeteria and lined everyone up for “testing”.
It was panic you felt creeping up your guts. Fear of what might happen to you or your new found friends in this faction. Breathing heavily, you glanced at the exit nearest to you. You were fast. Your time in Dauntless had made you not only brave and daring but also strong. You had one shot at making a run for it and hide in the hennery or the stables—so you took it and you fled.
Was he here somewhere? You had spotted Max talking to Johanna as you ran but had not dared slow down; not until you had finally reached the stables the farthest away from the cafeteria and Johanna’s office and hid with one of your closest friends—you had named him Starlight and he truly deserved his title being a black and graceful stallion with blue eyes. You sat down next to him, waited and prayed.
-
The shots reached you across the fields seemingly out of nowhere. Flinching, you put your hand on Starlight’s mane to calm him down even though you barely helped with your heart beating faster than a steam hammer.
Not long after, you heard him before you saw him, your blood running cold and a petrifying shiver freezing you in place as you broke out into a sweat.
“We need shelter for the night.” Eric.
Go, leave! Leave before he sees you! But you could not bring yourself to run. If he moved any closer, he would be able to see you. Part of you wanted stay, to cup his face and kiss him, the other… the rational one, wanted to flee.
Now. You jumped, turning around the corner to do just that, in an attempt to leave him and his sinful voice behind you for good. Instead, you bumped straight into him. Positive that your heart skipped a beat, your eyes widened when you caught his attention and he recognised you.
“Eric.” Your voice was no more than a whisper.
Whatever flashed in his blue eyes, it was gone before you could properly grasp it. Was it surprise, anger, regret or longing? Or perhaps a mixture of all? Your lips parted when he took a step towards you, approaching you slowly but determined—like a predator about to attack its intimidated prey.
He looked more mature. Stronger, even. And right now, he was sweating a little, all out of breath and appeared to be downright furious. Tris, Four and their friends must have managed to escape then.
“Look at that,” He finally said. There was a coolness in his voice which had never been there before. With a slight frown, he eyed you up and down. “Black suited you much better than orange.” Another step, invading your personal space. You could smell his aftershave when you inhaled, shakily. He was still using the same.
“Eric, please leave her alone.” Johanna intervened. You had barely noticed her standing there before but were all the more grateful that she was. You were not afraid of him—Eric would never hurt you physically, you were sure of that. Still, her presence relieved you. “I told Max we have additional cots in a hut across the farm for our initiates. You can spend the night there.” She explained peacefully.
Eric’s taunting and challenging gaze never left yours when he replied to her.
“I think I’ll be just fine staying with (Y/N).”
“What?”
“Now what happened to that friendly Amity hospitality?” He mocked, a scornful smirk playing on his lips. Clenching your fists, you gnashed your teeth in an attempt not to lash out at him either verbally or physically. Johanna wouldn’t like that and you certainly wouldn’t either. Eric just brought out the former Dauntless in you.
Johanna opened her mouth to protest. She did not know Eric and you had a history but she was not the sort of person to start an argument. Besides, she could figure you knew each other from the past, given he had said your name and she was aware of where you had transferred from in the first place. How would she protest? If she did, she would hardly be the leader of Amity.
“I’m sure you’ll understand that the leaders of Dauntless won’t settle for sleeping in cots for initiates?” The tone of his voice hid a mocking threat. Johanna lifted her chin. She failed to stand up to him but her expression all but revealed how displeased she was with him.
Still, part of you longed to throw yourself into his arms. The other part… oh, the other part wanted to let out your Dauntless vein and slap him square in the face for his arrogant and superior attitude. Clenching your fists in an attempt to stay calm, you met Johanna’s concerned gaze.
“It’s okay. He can stay with me.”
“How generous…” The Dauntless leader mused.
“Eric! Remember we value peace in this faction.” Johanna called after him, presumably with a reproachful expression on her round face. He only chuckled in response as he followed you around the corner.
-
You did not know what to expect from Eric once you had brought him to your room. Perhaps that he would lash out at you and scream for transferring all those years back without telling him first, or maybe he would simply give you the silent treatment. If anything, Eric had always been really good at hiding his emotions from you. It was why him wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you close so you crashed into his steel chest, his lips on your within a matter of seconds caught you completely off guard and was certainly the last thing you would have expected from him.
You had missed those lips… how warm and soft they felt against yours, his tongue demanding entrance to claim you for an even more passionate kiss and his strong arms folding around your body—so tiny compared to his—to keep you safe and warm.
Your eyelids threatened to fall shut, your fingertips itching to put your palms flat against his abdomen, to feel the muscles dancing underneath… you would have if you had eaten your bread today.
Outraged, you pushed him away with all the strength you could muster, glaring at him as if he had grown another head. How dared he? You could have been married by now!
“What… are you doing?”
The Dauntless leader quirked an eyebrow, seemingly unimpressed.  His lips were a little swollen from his own vicious attack. “If I recall correctly, kissing is usually what couples do to show their affection for one another.”
“Eric, we broke up.” You stuttered.
“We didn’t break up. You left.”
Your eyes met his. “Because I never belonged in Dauntless, we both know that.”
“Bullshit.” He spat with dismay. “You would have made through initiation easily with my help.”
Sighing mutely, you closed your eyes. That was exactly why you had never told him you wanted to leave your old faction. That… and the fact you hadn’t been brave enough to say goodbye and confront the ache in your heart. There went another reason you could not have stayed in Dauntless.
“Why are you here? This doesn’t seem like a courtesy visit to me. I heard the others talk about some sort of testing. What testing? Is it a disease? A pandemic?”
“Yeah, something like that,” he muttered with his back to you, stepping further into your room and looking around curiously all the while you crossed your arms before your chest. You did not have many belongings. A couple of books, a hay doll which you had crafted yourself and a little table lamp so you could read at night. You had bought it on Trading Day and regularly used it to read at night. It was a luxury not everybody here in Amity had.
With a start, he turned back around. His blue eyes were so cold you shivered. You wondered what had happened to him that had made him so… cruel. Eric did not look like he would hesitate to kill anyone who stood in his way.
“We’re looking for Divergents.” He said.
You frowned. “Why?” Your blood began to boil… they were human too, with hearts that beat all the same. There was no difference, really. Was it not the decision you made on Choosing Day which truly mattered?
“They’re threatening the faction system, attacked Abnegation, compromised Dauntless members…” And that was not the story Tris and Four had told Johanna. He was lying as much as Jeanine was—and he knew very well he was. The tension between you was palpable. If you reached out, you felt like you could actually grasp it, get him to snap. His composure was eerie.
“I think that’s not quite true and you know it.”
“Do I?” Eric raised his eyebrows, his tone almost mocking. You cursed yourself for thinking he was still incredibly sexy—despite his attitude; and your heart was beating so fast you could not help but realise you still loved him. “Don’t you worry. We’ll bring order to this mess they’ve caused.” Only it wasn’t the Divergents who had caused this mess, no?
You gasped when he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you close, his mouth once again dangerously close to yours—not for the first time were you reminded of that one time he had pulled you on his lap in the cafeteria back in Dauntless. The only way someone like Eric would occasionally show affection for someone.
“You could come home then. Jeanine will sort it all out and everyone who ended up in the wrong faction can transfer.”
“I didn’t end up in the wrong faction!” You exclaimed indignantly, pushing him away with all your might. It didn’t do much. He barely stumbled back.
Eric seemed unconvinced—and almost all but unaffected by your words. “Okay.”
But only almost. It was the way he clenched his fists, the way that vein pulsing on his forehead and the way his left eye twitched barely noticeably. He would never admit it, let alone phrase it like so but you knew you were guilty of having broken his heart. The remorse was eating you up, from the inside out. Being with him now felt both like a relief and pure torture, knowing there was something you could never make up for.
“Don’t you miss the muffins?” He suddenly teased, playing down his emotions—like he always did. Only this time it sounded downright malicious and evil.
You scoffed. “When did you become… like this?” You said instead of responding to him. “So cruel? You wouldn’t have hesitated to kill any of us down there. I saw it in your eyes.”
His nostrils flared. “We’re at war, (Y/N)! I’m a soldier. Of course I wouldn’t hesitate.”
You snorted once more. “Well, that’s one of the reasons I left Dauntless.”
“And there I was hoping you’d regret your decision soon enough.”
For another long, agonising moment, he simply stared at you—then, mutely, he turned away and started taking off his clothing, piece by piece until all there was left were his black underpants. You had never seen him fully naked… well, how? You had never taken this step in your relationship given you had been much too young for it. And right now, there were much more important and pressing matters… like the fact he simply made himself comfortable in your bed as if it was his own.
“I could be married, you know.” You suddenly found yourself saying, only to realise the second the words left your mouth that you were only making this worse. “What if my husband comes home any moment now and finds you in our bed?”
“Then I’d tell him to fuck off.” He mumbled into the pillow before turning back around to face you. “You’re not married.” He added, nodding at your bare hand. “Actually I’m pretty sure you haven’t let a man lay a hand on you for more than an inept kiss.” You swallowed thickly. He was right.
“You’re wrong.”
“You know I’m not. Now go to bed, the trip back to Dauntless will take us longer now that so many Divergents are on the loose.”
“I am not coming back to Dauntless with you!”
He scoffed in response—and you were far too troubled to sleep. Let alone in the same bed with him. You considered your options for a moment. The hard wooden floor, the ice cold stables in midst of hay… or your soft bed in a warm room.
The decision was easier than it should have been. Still protesting mutely, you did as you were told, albeit reluctantly, but opted to keep on your dress.
-
You weren’t just cold. You were crying too. You realised the moment your cheek was growing wet from the sad spot of tears that had already formed on your pillow. Shaking silently, you hoped your mute suffering—more mental than physical—would go unnoticed and he wouldn’t wake up. That wish was ridiculous, come to think of it. Eric had learned during initiation that a light sleep could potentially save your life.
“Stop crying…” You heard him grumble, his voice drowsy. He sat up when you didn’t react, a loud sigh tearing through your dark room. “Stop crying.” He said again, softer this time, almost… soothingly. Comfortingly.
His skin felt like hot flames on yours when he leaned over to envelop your upper body in his embrace. You knew he wouldn’t say anything more. Eric was a man who let actions speak louder than words. Soon, you stopped trembling. Soon, you stopped weeping too.
It wasn’t just for his arms around you. It was the fact that you had hurt and disappointed him and he could have sent you straight into your death the moment he saw you again. He had not. He had acted cold and cruel and practically ordered you to return to Dauntless with him but he still loved you—as much as you still loved him. How much of this was healthy, you did not know. It was simply Eric’s way of showing feelings.
-
The next morning felt surreal, yet before you got to ask yourself if Eric was really here with you—here in Amity, in your bed—you felt the weight of his arm around your hips. You could tell by the way he tensed when you shifted slightly that he was already awake.
“Are you hungry?” He muttered. Frowning, you gazed at your wooden floor. You usually had breakfast before heading out to the farms. This morning, however, the thought of food alone was enough to make your head spin and feel nauseous.
“No… are you?”
“No. Pack your things then. We’re leaving.”
Eric stood. Half naked, he treaded across the room to put his clothes back on.
“I’m not packing anything. I can’t come with you, Eric, you know that.”
“Of course you can,” he spat. “Didn’t you listen to me last night? Jeanine will allow transfers. Make sure everybody’s loyalty is with the right faction.”
“My loyalty is with Amity.” And with you, you added silently. But you couldn’t have both. Faction before blood. The ideal praised be the entire city of Chicago had never felt more painful. “Why won’t you accept it?”
“Because you’re lying to yourself, (Y/N)! You think I didn’t try to move on? Fuck other women?” You flinched. “I could never wrap my head around you wanting to spend your life harvesting fruit and grain.” Dauntless never give up. Eric had never given up on you. Tearing up, you flinched once more when he opened your wardrobe and pulled out the small travel bag every Amity member was equipped with and started packing your few belongings himself when you did not make a move to listen to him.
“Eric, stop it!” The Dauntless leader didn’t even react. Instead, lastly, he reached for the testing device. You had barely registered him bringing the strange piece of Erudite technology to your room and setting it aside the moment the door fell shut so he could attack you with a kiss. Unceremoniously, he threw it on top of the few contents of the bag.
“We’re leaving. I’m not letting you go again.” He knew he wasn’t asking you to stay with him against your will. No, Eric was intelligent. He knew you still loved him and that being with him again would hardly entail him keeping you captive.
“Eric, I said stop!” Fuck Amity protocol. Snapping, you grabbed a hold of your bag and attempted to rip it from his grasp. He did not let go, resulting in an almost ridiculous tug war until the thin fabric of the handle broke apart and Eric’s device dropped out.
As it clattered to the ground, the built-in sensor activated, pointing straight at you. “Divergent.” A computer-simulated voice spoke from the tiny speakers.
You froze. Eric froze. Time froze.
Eric stared at the device as if it had just grown three heads. Then, slowly, his gaze wandered up to your face, discovering the utter horror in it.
He was unpredictable, he always had been. You could still feel his arms around you from last night, after all. And once more, you reminded yourself that you had never had a doubt that Eric would harm you in any way. Now, for the first time, you were worried he would kill you when he darted forward, his expression all but brutal and ruthless.
You tried to remember what your Dauntless friends had taught you long before your transfer. How to block a blow, how to duck and how to throw a punch so your opponent would be knocked out soon enough. Right now, not a single combat move wanted to come to your mind. All your body could master was flinch back—terrified.
It came different. Instead of lunging at you and arresting you for alleged attempt to overthrow the faction system, Eric stomped his foot and crushed the device under the sole of his boot. It broke apart like a dry twig, throwing sparks for a moment.
“Did you know?”
Slowly, you shook your head, still utterly horrified. “No…”
“Did you know?!” He repeated, yelling at you this time loudly enough for you to flinch.
“No! I did not! How would I? For Heaven’s sake, I got Amity for my Aptitude test, Eric!”
“Is that what your test administrator told you?”
“I am not Divergent, Eric!” You yelled. “Don’t you… don’t you think I would know if I felt like I belonged to more than one faction? I don’t!”
“Erudite technology doesn’t lie.” He said, pausing dramatically. “And you know what? I think the part of you who is Divergent is the part that should have stayed in Dauntless with me.”
“You’re hurt. I know you are. Eric, I am sorry. I really am. But I was too much of a coward to tell you I planned to leave. I loved…” No. That was wrong. You took a deep breath, closing your eyes for just the fraction of a second. “I love you.”
Eric approached you and this time, you didn’t move away. You stood your ground—for whatever was to come. Your reward was the relief washing over your entire body when he took a hold of your waist and pulled you against him.
“Come back to Dauntless with me.”
“Eric…”
“Come back to Dauntless with me. It’s the only place where I can protect you.”
Your lower lip was shivering when you looked up to lock your eyes with his. You still trusted him, even after last night. And you believed him, too.

The Roommate (Eric Coulter AU)
PROMPT: Dauntless makes a sudden change to there initiation housing thinking it would be better for the initiates to be paired with an actual member of dauntless in hopes that it will decrease the amount of fowl play and increase rankings that are actually well deserved.
It just so happens that the first year that this new housing is in place, is the year that Isabella is transferring from candor with her best friend John in tow who has also brought along the embarrassing nickname of calling her bean or beans.
It’s not a question to if she’ll survive initiation, but will she survive living with Eric?
In this AU Isabella will be 18 while Eric and others like Four are 22
Word Count: 1,382
Warnings: none
Note: Hey all! this is my first time ever writing a fan fiction let alone a story. If you would like me to continue with this please let me know!!! I hope you all enjoy the first chapter of this AU. And again if you want me to continue please show me some love or let me know what I can improve upon. (: enjoy
Chapter 1
Everything had been easy so far. My choice to transfer. The blood from my cut dripping over the coals of dauntless. Ignoring my parents surprised yelps and cries at my choice. Even the act of getting on the train and plummeting down to the net hadn’t been all that challenging either. I’m not sure whether it was because I was mentally prepared for this day or the fact that my best friend, John was along for the same ride that made it so easy.
Everyone had jumped and we were now awaiting instruction from Four, the groups trainer throughout initiation.
John leaned over to me his lips curling into a smile, “You excited Beans?”
“I told you to stop calling me that,” I whispered to him through gritted teeth. Normally I wouldn’t really mind the nickname he had adopted for me, but now that we transferred it would just be embarrassing if anyone were to overhear him calling me it.
“I can’t just stop, I’ve practically been calling you that since birth,” he shrugged “there’s nothing you can do to stop me from saying it either,”
I huffed not necessarily happy with his answer, but in no mood to start fighting with him. I was going to continue talking, but Four finally spoke up
“Consider this your lucky day initiates. We’ve decided to give you all a fair chance at proving yourself. A lot of foul play happens outside of the actual training and to combat that it seems the most logical way is to give you personal housing,” he pauses for a moment and all the initiates start murmuring excitedly. Four looked nothing but business. He was tall and lean with short brown hair. A permanent looking frown was etched into his face. And even with the frown he was in no way intimidating. He seemed like someone who knew how to command authority and lead others, which is maybe why he is a trainer.
The idea of not having to live in communal quarters was extremely appealing. We’d be the first group to have our own living space and not have to deal with the stress that someone may stab another in another in the eye with a butter knife.
“Don’t get too excited,” Four states. “It’s not as personal as you may think, you all have been assigned a roommate that is already a member of dauntless. You have no choice in who it is and they do not either. If you are not happy with who you are rooming with then that’s too bad. Be grateful that they won’t try to kill you,” he smirks “Hopefully,” the excitement was lost in all of us after that.
A woman by the name of Lauren began handing up our room assignment papers. She claimed to be the instructor for the dauntless born initiates, and I believe it. She looked for more intimidating than Four. Tattoos ran up her built arms. She had dark raven hair and one nasty resting bitch face. No one could control that, though. So even with that face that doesn’t correlate to the personality she may actually have, but besides I didn’t plan to get to know her anyway.
I get handed my paper and I nod my thanks and she just walks off not acknowledging it at all.
“Initiation will begin tomorrow. Take this time to eat and introduce yourself to your new roommate. I’ll bring you all to the dining hall” Four says while turning around not waiting for us to start following.
As we get deeper and deeper into dauntless the chill starts to creep up my back. I don’t know why I hadn’t given much thought to how cold it may be underground. Or how much sunlight I’ll miss touching my face. Unease washes over me. Did I make the right decision? It’s like John had read my mind.
“Hey, don’t worry, you know that you belong here right? We both do,” he wraps his arm around my shoulders as we walk. Easing a bit of that chill that was in my spine. “Besides, I won’t let you fail out. Don’t be worried you’re definitely more prepared than a few others here,” he snickers a bit as I survey the crowd of trainers realizing he’s right. There were way more boys than girls and even with the gender difference a lot of them looked shorter, scrawny and scared out of their wits. Like they didn’t mean to let their blood drop over the coals at the choosing ceremony.
I smiled up at him “thanks, J. You really know how to blow up this ego,” I chuckled. He was right, though. I know I had a slight upper hand over most of them. John and I worked out quite regularly together back in Candor and we knew the basics of fighting, but other than that I was probably just as clueless as the rest. I wasn’t going to let my one strength of being strong be seen, though. I want to keep others in the dark deciding on wearing baggier clothes until I really had to show my strength. I stood around 5’2” or 5’3”, but I was a lot stronger than anyone would imagine for how short I was. You could see it on my body with the thick thighs, defined arms and wide lats.
John didn’t say anything back to me as we finally made it to the dining hall. Every faction could eat together like this, but honestly, I would much rather eat in my own room. Knowing that I would be able to do that soon enough was a relief because you would be lying to yourself if you thought this D hall food was amazing.
After John and I grabbed your food it was surprising because all the initiates ended up sitting together. Maybe because it was all we knew so far. I don’t think any of us would dare trying to sit with Four or Lauren even though they most likely wouldn’t bite our head off for it.
A boy with short black hair spoke up “So, who did everyone get for their roommates?” There was curiosity in his eyes and the blue shirt he was wearing told me he was from Erudite. Everyone started going around the table saying their roommates. The names didn’t really mean anything to me because I didn’t know a single person here. It was getting close to me so finally decided to take a peek at my paper. Eric Coulter room 225 was typed on the paper showing the location within the compound and his number and email. There was no other information, but I knew he was a leader to Dauntless and that was it.
The boy with the black hair cleared his throat at me expectantly. I threw a displeased look at him annoyed with his urgency, but I answered anyway “uhh.. Eric Coulter,” I shrugged as I folded up the paper. Everyone went silent around me stopping their eating and side chatter to look up at me. “What?” I asked confused. Even John was gaping at me. I glared at him frustrated that I was apparently so out of the loop. “You know he’s the leader, right?” John narrowed his eyes at lack of fear. “Yeah, and?” I bark at him, “What’s the problem?” I look at him while everyone else looks at me. “The problem is he’s the biggest dickhead in this compound. He chews you up and spits you out,” John had a concerned look on his face for me, “there are so many stories of him almost killing the initiates, most of them being him hanging them over the chasm...” He trails off. I huff frustrated they he didn’t think I could handle myself with the so called ‘biggest dickhead in the compound’. Apparently, no one else thought I could handle him either and honestly I was up for the challenge.
“Well fuck it. I don’t give a shit if he’s the biggest dickhead here. I can handle it,” I stand up suddenly, “You know what, I’m gonna go find him now,” I stormed off mentally preparing myself to try and make it through this labyrinth that is Dauntless.
