TWITL - week 2 - felt a bit dragged

TUESDAY - 9 January I'm thinking maybe I need a new format for my blog. Maybe not post daily but perhaps write something randomly and do a wrap up at the end of the week. If I write during the week, then I might not have as much to do at the end of the week besides some short musings or the like. Let's try it this week. I did screenshots before bed last night of a Canadian show called STAT because Thomas Beaudoin, my new Muse apparently, made an appearance and of course I just had to have a gander. I was just going to skim to his scenes, do the screenshots, then go along my merry way. When I saw French subtitles, I frowned a little because the words were getting in the way of the screenshots. At this point, I popped on my AirPods and turned up the audio to find that Docteur Davis, his character, was speaking French AND English, which meant the French subtitles were for the folks who don't understand English. I was quite happy to watch his scenes even if I had no idea what was going. Actually, I figured out the gist of it from the English bits but the whole thing was still chaos to me because I think the show is a bit on the soap opera side and the episode seemed to start in the middle of the action. Anyhoo, he looked rather nice all scruffy while wearing military BDUs. Way to hit my fangirl buttons, whew! https://flic.kr/p/2prqU3K Adan Canto died yesterday. I remember him best on his turn in the show The Following and I will always remember thinking how much he reminded me of "my" Kevin Smith ("Ares" on Xena and Hercules). I didn't follow his career very closely but I saw his work over the years and figured he'd appear in something I was watching sooner or later. Alas, it will not be. Journey well into the next, Adan... Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Tonight's episode was another good one! It was lovely seeing Timothy Omundson as Hephaestus and I will always have a soft spot for the character of Ares because of the aforementioned Kevin Smith. Adam Copeland's turn as the god of war was a joy to watch. I am very seriously enjoying this show. WEDNESDAY - 10 January https://flic.kr/p/2prG6Vx We had a bit of rain today. Nothing too serious. Since I've upgraded my webhost, I feel like I need to update this website. Maybe I should revive Moonlit Jazz, which has been languishing in its current state for... over 8 years. Eight years?! In its last iteration, it was the place where I dropped my daily photos for Project 365. I now do Project 365 at my secondary Instagram (@vasiakiari). Now it just sits as it has since 2015. Back to this place though, kiari.com. I'm using a different theme but I think it's a work in progress at this point. Maybe I'll keep hunting around for more inspirational themes. We'll see if I settle on anything for more than a day. THURSDAY - 11 January Oh, Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is streaming on Amazon Prime! I already own XWP on iTunes (and DVD!) but I never did pony up the money for HTLJ. Now when I'm feeling nostalgic, I can head to Amazon Prime to watch either of those two shows. Oh, and do screenshots. For some reason, I felt like doing screenshots of Hades, as played by Erik Thomson. I marvel how back in the late 90s, it took FOREVER to do screenshots. Now it's just minutes, depending on how many scenes my subject is in. XWP will be easier to re-watch because it was always the stronger show to me, in terms of characters and plots, though Michael Hurst (Iolaus) did make me cry in an episode of HTLJ. They were the reason I watched. They were the reason I started chatting online with like minded fans. They were the reason I started my website. They are part of the me that is Kiari. I made lifelong friends because of the show, the conventions, the mutual love for the guest stars. And I will ever be grateful... FRIDAY - 12 January It's finally the weekend! Yes, it's Friday evening and I have three whole days without work. Good times! Don't have any real plans. Maybe I'll clean. Maybe I'll do some laundry. Maybe I'll take lots of naps. I always LOVE wearing this vest jacket, as I'm sure I've said plenty of times here. I love all the pockets. I love all the details. I love that it crossed space and time to become mine. And I love that Chris Conrad sent it to me. I still marvel at that last point. So very sweet of him. It makes me smile to wear it. I liked it! I might have liked it better than the first season. The nun had a bigger part and she was a delight. The ending felt a little as if they'd be back in the little town. The Brotherhood seemed to be unfinished business. I'd love another season of the two priests and the nun... 30 Monedas/30 Coins - We started another Miguel Ángel Silvestre show. Second season again. The first few episodes were a bit heavy on the monster-like imagery. Effectively creepy, especially if you're religious in the Catholic way. It's an adjustment going from Simón Antequera (Los Enviados) to Paco (30 Monedas). Fic Writer Questions!

@oddsocksandstuff tagged me in this, thank you so much, sweetie! ❤️

1) How many works do you have on AO3? I’ve got 40 so far (of which 25 are SPN fics). There’s more to come!

2) What’s your total AO3 word count? 486,667, apparently. That tells me each of my fics has an average wordcount of 12,166.675… Seems about right. I was never any good at keeping things short.

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? Uhh… On AO3 I’ve written for Supernatural, Supernatural RPF, X-men (Cherik) and McFassy (James McAvoy/Michael Fassbender). But I’ve written a lot when I was younger that has never made it online, including NCIS, Pirates of the Caribbean, and lots of weird one-shorts starring everyone from Michael J. Fox to Kevin Sorbo from “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”. 🤨

4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos? “A Lesson to be Taught” – an SPN Wincest pwp fic where a dominant Dean fucks (and spanks) Sam and they discover that Dean apparently has a daddy!kink. Comes with a photo manipulation too! There be dick.

“Taking Game” – a semi-dark medieval Cherik (Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr from X-men) AU. Basically, Charles is a poacher hunting on king Erik’s land to his great dismay. And so, he’s captured and gets the choice between losing his life or serving the king for a bit… Dubcon and smut ensues. “Only Like This” – a little SPN Wincest dub-con fic about hopelessly pining Dean doping Sam just so he can touch and kiss his oblivious little brother. It’s okay. Sam won’t remember when he comes to. “It’s Only Carnal” – A dark SPN Wincest noncon fic where soulless!Sam needs to blow off some steam. And when it comes to carnal activities his brother isn’t exactly a novice – so why not use Dean’s body to make them both feel good? “Demonized” – a long and dark af SPN noncon fic written in collaboration with the awesome @palishere. Sam is captured by some nasty demons who use him to lure in his brother. At first it seems the demonic scumbags are just really perverted and have a weakness for sexual torture, but they turn out to have ulterior motives…

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Yes, always. I think it can be a bit demotivating for a reader to leave a comment and get zero response – and so, they might not bother to comment on the next fic. At least, that’s how I feel personally. And besides, I really want to let readers know that I appreciate them taking the time and effort to actually tell me what they think.

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Oufff… Seriously? How can I possibly pick just one when 99.8 percent of my fics are not only dark af but have gut-wrenching ambiguous endings as well? I, err… I’m gonna have to think really hard about this one, hold on… *Insert buzzing cicada sound*… Uhh… Well, I guess it might be… “Play or Pay” – a dark female!reader-insert Wincest fic where demon!Dean has you and Sam trapped somewhere underground. Sam ends up being on the receiving end of the demon’s cruelty when he tries to save you. Using Dean’s body the demon ends up raping Sam while the reader tries to escape to get help... There’s a little twist in the end. Loads of dead dove here, including death (not Dean or Sam). “The Orange Hour” – where undercover inmate!Dean has to rape CO!Sam in order to save both of their lives and get them out of the jail in one piece. It doesn’t go completely as planned. (Comes with an nsfw photo manipulation). “Demonized” – loads of bottom!Sam torture, full of hurt and absolutely no comfort... It’s just… I dunno, I think I and @palishere had a collective meltdown in the noncon and angst department. Sorrynotsorry.

8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written? Nope, I’ve never in my life written a crossover. Usually, I’m too laser-focused on 1 obsession at a time. I can’t multitask, okay?

9) Have you ever received hate on a fic? Yes, the fandom purity police has visited me on AO3. The usual self-proclaimed know-it-alls vomiting their bullshit all over the comment section about how “problematic” noncon is and how “sick” I must be. I thought about moderating comments for a while, actually – but I just deleted their follow-up comments until they left me alone. 😤

10) Do you write smut? If so what kind? Yes!! Gimme! Usually, I write noncon smut or just good ol’ pwps that feature some sort of dominance. That’s it. That’s my jam. In general, the only smut I don’t write is the cute, fluffy, feel-good, cuddly stuff… My smut’s usually pretty rough and/or some sort of dub/noncon.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yes. Someone stole “It’s Only Carnal” and posted it as her own on some Portuguese fanfiction site. She even replied to comments, answered questions and talked about how much she loved writing it, etc… Luckily a sweet mutual on Tumblr let me know about it and I reported her for plagiarism. The stolen fic was taken down shortly after and the account deleted. Goddamn thief. 😡

12) Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes. Honestly, I can’t remember which fic(s). But people have contacted me on AO3 and asked for permission to translate my stuff into Chinese. I have - of course - happily allowed them to. It’s such an awesome compliment to get, I think!

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, 2. “Demonized” and the fluffy Ficfacers prompt fic “The Masks We Wear” starring Sam and Dean taking their pranks a step too far. Basically, the brothers get angry with each other and they need to talk it out… No smut in this one, can you believe it?!! But that was kinda the prompt we received. The prompt was literally: “Sam and fluff”. Anyways, both fics are co-written with the lovely @palishere. You can find her AO3 here. 😊

14) What’s your all time favorite ship? Wincest!!! Definitely. Gimme all the brotherfucking, please. No contest. And coming in on second place I guess there’s Samifer – never paired consensually, though. I just love Lucifer messing with Sam’s head and torturing him in all kinds of cruel ways.

15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? Oh, that’s a mean question… I have a noncon WIP where Sam and Dean are in prison. I wrote a whole story outline, gathered my own little dictionary of prison slang, etc… But I never made it past page 10 or something. Sam was supposed to get jumped by a gang of inmates and then Dean was supposed to helplessly watch from the sideline, offering to trade places if they’d just leave his little brother alone… And after that it’s all about a mix of healing and vengeance… But the story has been lying on the shelf for more than a year and I doubt I’ll ever continue it. Oh, wait! I almost forgot – I have a long Cherik WIP sequel to “To Have and to Hold”! Just checked, its wordcount is 18,729! Holy crap…. What a waste, huh? But I honestly don’t think I’ll ever finish it, because I’m not into Cherik anymore. That ship has kinda sunk for me…. So, now I’m hyperfixating on Supernatural, yeah?

16) What are your writing strengths? Description, I think. I just love details and setting the mood. I like to think I’m pretty good at writing in English too even though it isn’t my native language… I wish to be better and expand my vocabulary but I’m doing okay nonetheless.

17) What are your writing weaknesses? Description, I think. Yes, you read correctly. I often describe things TOO much. Sometimes to the extent where the pacing gets so slowed down that I feel like the scene loses its ‘feel’. I don’t know if it’s just in my head, but that’s my major concern about my writing. That and my signature ambiguous endings, lol.

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Love it. It can be difficult to pull off, but if you get it right it can be magical. Just don’t overdo it and make sure that the reader can follow. I don’t think I have any fics online where I do it, but I’m not a complete stranger to it either.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for? Ack, my poor brain trying to go back to when I was friggin’ 13… You know how many years ago that was?! 25!!! Okay!? *Huffs*…. Anyway, I THINK it might’ve been Keanu Reeves’ character in “Johnny Mnemonic”. Or maybe David James Elliott’s character as Harmon Rabb in the early seasons of “JAG”. I dunno. Either way this question makes me feel really old and I don’t appreciate it. Don’t @ me. 😅

20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? That’s probably a tie between “The Orange Hour” and “It’s Only Carnal”. They’ve both got nice pacing and that’s my biggest challenge, I think. Also, I love the whole Morse code thing in “The Orange Hour”. I don’t even know what happened or how I came up with it, but hey, I can surprise myself if I want to, I guess! And of course there’s the smutty noncon and all of the hurt… So, those two fics are my personal faves. 😏

The Enchantress' parentage is unknown, though it is known she was born in Asgard and has a sister by the name of Lorelei. Amora began learning magic as an apprentice of Karnilla, Queen of the Norns, but was eventually banished.[3] She continued learning magic on her own, notably by seducing others well versed in magic and learning their secrets. In time, Amora became one of the more powerful magic-wielders in Asgard, with her magical arsenal focused on (but not limited to) charming and mind-controlling people. Her by-then well-renowned beauty did not hinder in this.

In her first appearance, she is sent by Odin to eliminate Thor's human love interest, whom Odin sees as a distraction. She also hopes to have the thunder god for herself. She is assisted by a powerful minion — Skurge, the Executioner. The Executioner loved the Enchantress, and she strings him along with her feminine wiles, using him as her muscle.[4] She aids Loki by attempting to seduce Thor in his Don Blake identity and by sending the Executioner to kill Jane Foster, but though the Executioner traps Foster in another dimension Thor is able to bring her back by giving Skurge his hammer. When the Enchantress, angry at Skurge returning Jane, begins to turn Skurge into a tree, Skurge releases Thor from the pact in exchange for his help. Amora then tries to change Thor's hammer into a hissing serpent, but it is immune to her magic. Thor then transports the two back to Asgard.[5]

The Enchantress and the Executioner are exiled to Earth by Odin. They become members of Baron Heinrich Zemo's original Masters of Evil, the opposite number to the Avengers, a superhero team that Thor had joined. The Enchantress hypnotizes Thor into attacking the other Avengers with her own spells and a special brew, making him believe they are enemies of humanity, but Iron Man wakes Thor from his trance by reflecting sunlight into his eyes. Thor sends the Masters to another dimension through a space warp, but two issues later, the Enchantress uses a spell to send them back to Earth. She recruits Wonder Man into the Masters of Evil after paying his bail. She also meets Immortus, who helps Zemo attack the Avengers. When this attempt fails, she turns back time to prevent it from happening, though the Masters retain their memories of this event. When Immortus begins to contact the Masters, the Enchantress prevents this from happening.[6] She then joins in the Masters of Evil's final assault against the Avengers and breaks the Black Knight and Melter out of jail. She manages to escape in the end with the Executioner when the other two are transported to another dimension where their weapons rebound due to different scientific laws.[7] As a member of the Masters of Evil, the Enchantress (and Executioner) repeatedly face the Avengers. She is especially affronted by the attempts of the Scarlet Witch, a mortal, to subvert her divine spells, though she is occasionally genuinely challenged by the Scarlet Witch's mutant gifts.

With the Executioner, she menaces Jane Foster again at Loki's behest.[8]

The Enchantress is also notable in that she has given other superhumans their powers. For example, she used the deceased Zemo's equipment to make a henchman of his, Erik Josten, into the original Power Man, who aids her in battling the Avengers. Her illusions and traps turn the city against the Avengers, forcing them to disband and making Power Man seem like a hero. Captain America, in disguise, corrects this by obtaining a taped confession from the Enchantress and Power Man. Power Man is able to defeat him, but the Enchantress is knocked out by gas from Hawkeye's arrow. Realizing the tape is on its way to the police, the Enchantress used her spells to teleport away.[9] The Enchantress is then recruited by the Mandarin, along with the Executioner, Swordsman, Power Man, and Living Laser for his plan for world domination. With the Executioner, she attacked the Asian sub-continent with an army of trolls, but they were defeated by Hercules and the Scarlet Witch.[10]

Amora poses as the Valkyrie and forms the Lady Liberators, which battle the male Avengers. She dupes Arkon into fighting the Avengers.[11] Amora also uses her magics to make Samantha Parrington and later Barbara Norris into the Valkyrie.[12] With the Executioner, she battles the Defenders and the Thing.[13]

With the Executioner, Amora attempts to conquer Asgard with a troll army. She also served as Loki's lieutenant in his brief rule of Asgard.[14]

During the "Secret Wars," she is placed on the villains's side, but she spurns the idea of fighting a gladiatorial game for the amusement of a higher being. She instead proposes to Thor that the two of them simply join forces, leave both heroes and villains behind, and go back home to Asgard.[volume & issue needed]

On the appearance of Amora's sister Lorelei, it is established that the two sisters have something of a strained relationship, rooted in rivalry. More than a little friction is seen between the pair, not the least due to competition over which one of them would manage to seduce Thor.[15]

The Enchantress joined the Asgardian gods and heroes in final battle against the world-ender Surtur. She establishes that she is motivated by enlightened self-interest: Surtur seeks to end the world, in which case Amora would perish.[16]

Soon after the Surtur War, Thor leads a number of Asgardian heroes to Hel, the realm of the death goddess Hela. The Executioner asks Thor to let him join the expedition for reasons he does not immediately reveal. In truth, he had seen the Enchantress dallying with Heimdall, and, heartbroken, Skurge wishes to lose himself in a noble cause — such as rescuing lost souls from Hela. Thor's forces accomplish their mission but need one man to guard their retreat from Hel by holding the bridge Gjallerbru. The Executioner, knowing there was no more Amora for him, chooses to be that man, giving his life so the others might flee. When Amora hears the news, to everyone's surprise, she is truly grief-stricken.[17]

After Skurge's death, Amora continues her regular hi-jinks, occasionally helping Asgard, occasionally opposing it. She aids Asgard against the evil Egyptian God Seth's legions.[18]

Lorelei later perishes as Amora refused to give her life for her sister's. The deceased Skurge (in Valhalla) rejects the Enchantress, and Amora goes on to empower the Earthman Brute Benhurst into a short-lived new Executioner to serve as her minion in Skurge's stead.[19] Amora becomes vexed with the Avenger Wonder Man and assists Thor and the Warriors Three in their quest to return Odin to the throne of Asgard. During this time, an attraction between Amora and Asgard's guardian Heimdall is explored. Amora even battles the powerful entity Nightmare on behalf of both of them as Heimdall was unable to protect himself at the time. She ultimately rejects Heimdall when she realizes that he wishes to be married and she does not.[volume & issue needed]

In Acts of Vengeance, Amora and Skurge join forces and attack Doctor Strange, only to be bested by Clea when she flies to his aid.[volume & issue needed]

Later, Thor has been spurned by his father Odin, exiled to Earth and disempowered. In this vulnerable state, Thor ends up forming a willing liaison with Amora, with the two of them living out of a loft in New York City as lovers. This status quo would remain until Thor goes missing during Heroes Reborn and is presumed dead.[20]

During Ragnarök, Amora is present with the other Asgardian deities and dwarves when Eitri and his brothers are sealed into a tomb they had carved due to the Mjolnir mold destroying them, albeit accidentally. When Surtur's forging of new Mjolnirs creates chaos, Thor attempts to fly to the skies to discern the source, but is at once struck down by a blast from a Mjolnir duplicate of Loki's; Amora is slain by the same blast, one of the first victims of Loki during this event. Neither her magic nor her inherent durability is capable of shielding her. Heimdall falls soon afterward; Amora is not seen again except, seemingly, in one of the realms of death, unable to use her magic to assist her once-lover.[volume & issue needed]

After Ragnarök, when Thor, Asgard and the other Asgardians return, Thor is manipulated by Loki into inadvertently awakening some of Thor's enemies, among them Amora, though when she was last seen, she is the victim, falling by Loki's hands and mourned by Thor and the other Asgardians. She does not return to Asgard but instead goes to attack the world tree, Yggdrasil in order to resurrect Skurge and release him from Valhalla. Amora is ultimately thwarted after Thor, Loki, and Balder convince her that she is dishonoring his memory with her actions.[21]

She has returned after Thor's resurrection, with Donald Blake - bitter about his separation from Thor and his non-existent past - offering the Enchantress his soul if she can make him a god again.[22] The resulting god is a twisted abomination, with Thor defeating the Enchantress and her new god before banishing them from Asgard, leaving Blake - reduced to a living head after his body was consumed to create the god - connected to a series of dream-weaving creatures to make him dream that he is living a full life.[23]

After this Amora was defeated by Thor and banished to the forest in Norway. She was trapped in an Odinforce barrier and stripped of her powers. Lady Deathstrike and Typhoid Mary were on a quest to find Arkea, an intelligent gestalt microorganism capable of controlling machines and people. They found Amora and offered to help her regain her powers.[24] In exchange they founded a new sisterhood to battle the X-Men, who were hunting Arkea and Lady Deathstrike. Arkea hacked the Odinforce spell and restored Amora's full powers. In exchange for this, Amora restored the physical form of the immortal mutant witch, Selene,[25] and helped Arkea resurrect Madelyne Pryor. Before the Sisterhood could add more members, the X-Men attacked and killed Arkea. Amora was ambushed by the X-Man M, who defeated her in a surprise attack. However, Madelyne Pryor swore to continue the Sisterhood, which presently has Madelyne, Selene, Lady Deathstrike, Amora, and Typhoid Mary as members.[26]

During the "AXIS" storyline, Enchantress appears as a member of Magneto's unnamed supervillain group during the fight against Red Skull's Red Onslaught form.[27] After the heroes and villains present at the battle experience a moral inversion due to the Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom's attempt to bring out the Xavier in Onslaught backfiring,[volume & issue needed] Magneto recruits Enchantress as one of his new 'Avengers' to stop the now-villainous Avengers and X-Men.[volume & issue needed]

Following the "Secret Wars" storyline, she has become a member of Malekith the Accursed's Dark Council.[28] Through a spell, she takes control of the queen of the Light Elves, allowing her marriage to Malekith to happen and the conquest of their realm.[29]

During the "War of the Realms" storyline, Enchantress accompanies Malekith the Accursed in his invasion on Midgard.[30] She and Kurse fight Ghost Rider and She-Hulk until Jane Foster slams Skidbladnir into Enchantress.[31] In Uruguay, the Enchantress raises the dead, but Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange, and Balder ward her off.[32]

INTERLUDE I: NOLA MEETS ERIK

July 2003

“Are you sure you want to go to school all the way in Los Angeles?” Papa Simon asked from my doorway as I began packing up my room.

“Dad, we’ve had this conversation already. This is my dream school and they gave me a full-ride scholarship. How could I possibly turn it down?”

“I know, Skybear, but Papa Ruben and I are gonna miss you so much. You’ve never gone this far away before.”

“You’re right, I haven’t but that’s all the more reason for me to go, right? I have dreams and things that I want to accomplish and unfortunately, I can’t accomplish them here.”

“Simon, leave that girl alone. She knows what she’s doing and we’re only a phone call and a plane ride away should she ever decide she wants to come back home, right baby?” I smiled wide, knowing my Papa Ruben would always come through with the defense.

“Right, Daddy. I love you both.”

“And we love you too, sweetheart. Let’s get these bags packed.”

“Sky!”

“What?!” My head snapped up quickly, completely distorting the design I was currently working on. I was testing a 3D dildo generator for my website. “Was that Papa Ruben? I feel like Papa Ruben said that and Papa Ruben is never wrong.” I nodded, because she was right. One thing about my dad, he could always spot a snake in the grass and his accuracy was unmatched.

“That was definitely Papa Ruben and all me and Papa Simon did was laugh because although it was hot outside, he still looked like a super fuck nigga. He had on a black muscle shirt, body and tattoos gleaming because of sweat, black and red basketball shorts with matching Jordans and that damn Cuban around his neck.”

“Wait that nigga got tattoos?!”

“Yesh.”

“Did he have the fronts back then too?”

“Yes ma’am, but he had top and bottom ones. A bitch was hot!” I explained, fanning myself. “Anyway, he comes over and introduces himself to my dads before taking my trunk of clothes from Papa Simon. To my surprise, he simply laughed it off and continued helping me take my stuff to my room. He even mounted my tv and showed me where my classes were. Like he was a genuinely nice guy. Fast forward to the second semester of my freshman year, we have the same psychology class because, again, I had already taken all my gen-ed classes. We were almost always paired together on projects because of our intelligence, another reason his ass stayed trying to holla. One day he asked me why I never responded to his advances, seeing as how it was clear that I was feeling him. Which I was, but I was also feeling someone else too, I just didn’t know how to tell him. I avoided him and the question for about a week until he cornered me in the library and demanded that I give him an answer. I smiled sweetly, looked him square in the eye and told him that I wanted to fuck his girlfriend.” I looked over at O’Shea and she looked back at me like I had grown 3 heads.

“Bitch no you didn’t tell him that!”

“What? He asked, hell. This was like the second semester of my sophomore year and by this time I had had a few girls and boys and I realized that I preferred women because they were softer and I understood them better. I didn’t and still don’t have time for the fragile ego of a man.”

“So what did he say to that?” I paused briefly, thinking back to that night in the library.

“Did you seriously just tell me that the reason you don’t wanna fuck wit a nigga is because you wanna fuck my girl? What kinda shit is that, Nola?”

“You asked. I figured you wanted my honest answer.” He kept me pinned against the bookshelf, his eyes searching mine for any hint of a lie. He finally let me go once he found none.

“And your best friend named you Nola. See you in class.” He winked at me, flashing that million dollar smile and walked out of the library, leaving me a little more than hot and bothered.

“He laughed and told me that I was something serious and let me go on about my business. At some point during my junior year we developed a friends with benefits type relationship because 1.) We were both single and wanted to remain single and 2.) His dick was very bomb. I even taught him how to eat pussy.

“You taught him that?!”

“It started off fairly well with him teasing me about how much I love ice cream and him calling me a child because I wanted to watch Hercules.”

“Fuckin’ child,” I responded out of habit.

“Shut up! That’s the same thing he said!” O’Shea pouted, crossing her arms over her chest for further emphasis of her point.

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry. Please continue,” I coaxed, rubbing her arm to let her know I was done being an ass.

“Anyway, we basically had a whole Disney marathon. We watched Hercules, then Mulan, then The Emperor’s New Groove and were getting dummy high the whole time. So midway through Kuzco’s shenanigans, I tried my luck with him again because I saw how mellow he got when he was high. Like I was even able to fully appreciate how good he looked when he wasn’t in a suit and tie. Your best friend is a work of art, sis.”

“Oh, I know,” I said with a smirk.

“So I’m just sitting there, practically drooling over the bulge in his pants and this nigga looks at me with the straightest face and asks if I’m gonna suck it or just stare at it.”

“And I oop! That wasn’t Erik, sis. That was Killmonger.”

“Who?”

“Don’t worry about it, finish the story.”

“I’m not sure how it happened, but his dick got caught in my braces.” I didn’t want to, but I simply could not help the screech that left my lips at the mental image of Erik losing his shit about his dick being caught in her braces.

“Did he cry?” I managed to choke out through my laughing fit.

“No, but he was pissed. Like so pissed that he got up and left.” I stopped laughing then. How dare he leave her in such a vulnerable state knowing what he knows about her little personalities and how they operate. Shea must’ve caught my mood change and quickly came to his defense.

“He made up for it, though! He came and picked me up and we talked about it and then we went and got ice cream.”

“Of course he made up with ice cream.”

“Aaand he took me to Disneyland and got me this.” She held up her wrist so that I could see the charm bracelet in all of its glory.

“Oh that’s beautiful. I’ll be back in a little bit, I have a 12:00 meeting with Dr. Nigga.” I quickly grabbed my bag and keys and headed out the door. Dr. Stevens and I had a few things that needed discussing.

How much do I have to pay you to know every aspect of Sanders personality and his relationships (like friends and family) with anyone significantly important in his life

*cracks knuckles* Okay. Let’s do this.

I kinda already covered his relationship with his sisters in one… or two… prior asks.

Carry, even though she doesn’t like admitting it, follows him a bit around like a puppy. She is super proud of her big brother, but she also snarks at him and Really Sucks at showing her feelings.

Cally and Sander, mostly inseparable. Have always been, despite how different they are. And going on quests together - with Bianca Maria and Sam - had helped bring them closer together. Which is why her joining the hunt hurt, but Sander also just wants his important people to be happy and he knows this makes her happy.

Sander loves both his parents, but he’s closer to Chris. They do pranks and thievery together and Chris is the one with the open ear for emotional things - and Sander is very emotional.

Him and Clarisse find their own way of bonding through training. Sometimes, Sander hated that he wasn‘t a legacy of Ares like his sisters and he felt like that put a certain distance between himself and his mom. So he always worked extra hard, because he wanted to make her proud.

He’s super proud of his grandma and adores her. Which. I think I’ve never actively used Captain la Rue before, but yeah, I headcanon that even though Clarisse is a year-rounder, her mother is still alive. Caroline la Rue is a soldier, so she’s rarely stateside. But Caroline definitely adores all her grandchildren. And even though grandparents aren‘t supposed to pick favorites… I’m sorry have you seen those puppy-eyes? Sander was such an adorable, clingy kid, while Cally was rather independent from an early age on. So it’s hard not to get super attached to him.

Sander hero-worships his honorary uncle Percy and Percy did play a huge role in raising the kids - because Percy is über-mom, while Clarisse is “Oh good lords, how do I make them stop crying?!”-mom. I do imagine that Percy did not just a lot of babysitting but also subtly helping Clarisse, after all twins for her first pregnancy is a bit… much.

But Sander‘s favorite uncles are, of course and unbeatably so, the Stolls. He loves Connor and Travis. The Stolls used to pull off all those pranks together with Sander and Chris and they are the most amazing, awesome uncles ever, if you were to ask Sander.

Which is why he kind of sees himself as a big brother-type to Hunt and Heist when the Stolls adopt the twins. He loves teaching the twins all the tricks he learned from their senior tricksters and seeing the awe in their eyes.

For a long while, Sander insisted on being in the Ares Cabin, because both of his sisters were there and he didn’t want to be alone. That changed after the big quest and he actually became cabin-head of Hermes Cabin.

Sander has two best friends.

Though, he loves them both, Sam just takes gold. That’s… Hercules Grace is aware of that (and okay with that. Don’t forget the giant-ass crush Herc has on Sam *snickers*). After all, Hercules is Roman and Sander Greek so they don’t get to always see each other. So it’s totally fine that Sander has another best friend - because Herc does too, in Loki, the son of Mercury.

Who, by the way, also a close friend of Sander’s. When in New Rome, Sander loves hanging out with Herc and Loki, as well as Nico and Blance of course.

Nico, totally his favorite cousin. He loves watching her tinker.

Though, honestly, Sander is just such a sweet, loyal, lovable puppy… He kind of gets along with everyone. While there are those certain friend groups - Nico, Herc, Loki, Blance and Kara in New Rome, the Sons of War, the constellation of Erik, Jonas, Chuck and Victor, the group around Derek, Rainbow, Stella and Melissa - he kind of has his fingers in them all. There is no group that doesn’t enjoy having him tag along.

Now, as just mentioned, the Sons of War.

They, of course, have a particularly close bond. Sander, Sam, Trend and Marshall. They have worked hard to become the heroes they are now.

But still, Sam is his very important best friend. They are a heart and a soul (…do you say that in English? Somehow it doesn’t sound right in English. Oh well).

Now that we covered family and friends, let’s move on to lovers.

His first relationship was with Derek, between 2027 and 2028. They were 12 at the time. By the way, ages of their dating history can be solemnly blamed on me sucking at math. I had already mapped out their previous relationships and written about them by the time math caught up with me and went all “Oh shit. They’re super young”.

But we’re in the future and let’s say all my friends already also had their first partners when they were 12/13, not to mention the Graeco-Romans are not exactly known for chastity, sooo… Look past it.

Sander is the only person aside from Sam that Derek is super fond of and that Derek would fight for. Because Derek knows that this war-boy is a sweetie at heart.

In 2028, after the breakup, Sander and Sam started their… thing. They were never officially dating, but over the following three years they continuously had hook-ups - though they started just out with heavy kissing and making out in the aftermath of fights. It’s always been a quest-exclusive thing. “What happens in the tent stays in the tent”, so to speak.

But always only when neither of them were in relationships, of course. Because Sander doesn’t cheat (and neither does Sammy).

Sander’s second relationship was in 2029 with Jonas Meyer, a son of Enyalios. A very soft boy despite being a son of war. It was the first time that Sander was more in a… traditional protector-boyfriend-role. And even though the two of them broke up, they’re still friends. Though not the closest - after all, Jonas went and formed his own little pseudo Sons of War group with Erik, Chuck and Victor.

Sander had his first girlfriend in 2030 with Stella Ribeiro. The daughter of Aphrodite knew what she wanted and she got it. They were a typical Golden Couple kinda deal; the jock and the cheerleader. The great hero and his doting, caring girlfriend.

(Sometimes, it amazes Sander that Stella and Jonas ended up together.)

So, aside from Jonas, Sander always picked rather bossy lovers who took the lead in the relationship. Derek, Stella, Donny. He’s always been more of a follower than the daring one who cockily seduces someone. That’s just not in his nature.

And after Stella, well, Donny. And that is its own story, literally.

(Fun fact: If Sonny wouldn’t have gotten together in Chasing Fireflies, Sander would have most likely started dating Phyl Rosenberg for a little whiler. Endgame still Sonny, of course.)

Now, as mentioned, Sander is very emotional. He… feels a lot. He’s soft, despite trying so hard to be a Son of War, despite being the biggest hero of Camp Half-Blood of his generation.

He adores Donny. He always adored Donny. Sure, he also started seeing Donny in a sexual way when they got older, but mainly he just… worships the ground Donny walks on. He always thought Donny was out of his league, which believe me Donny would tell you is totally ridiculous.

Sander is fiercely protective of the people he loves. And he loves a lot of people. He’s actually… a lot like Percy there. He loves and cherishes his friends and wants to keep them all safe at all times.

Weird things about Sander.

You know how I prefer my archetypical top and bottom definitions, where yeah depending on who they’re partnered with they would then instead end up bottoming for a “more top” kind of character, but generally I am very anime about seme/uke definitions. Sue me.

Sander is a character that if you asked me top/bottom, I would say “switch”. Sure, he tops for Donny, but he bottomed for Derek, he bottomed for Sam but nowadays would then rather top for Sam. He just generally doesn’t care.

He’s definitely a little more subby, because he prefers to let his partners take the lead. So if you ever want to see BDSM with Sonny, I’m afraid you’re not gonna get what you’d expect because Donny would totally dom the heck out of his boyfriend. Which. So confusing for me personally because I generally always write the top as the dom and the bottom as the sub.

Sander is not a good student, but he works very hard and attends college to get his dreamjob at the Demigod Protective Services. And not just that, he actually ends up becoming the new head once Nico is forced to retire by his husband (What? Percy wants some Nico-time too).

Important dates:

Sander was born on the 31st March 2015, with his twin-sister Calandra.

Sander and Donny got together on the 28t August 2032 and they got married on the 22nd December 2032.

After graduation, Sander and Donny move to New York together with Trend, Derek and Sam to study, but they’re not quite happy there so they return to New Athens, where they end up sharing a duplex house that has a connecting door.

Donny and Sander have seven kids - one set of twins and one set of triplets. Aaand they lived happily ever after.

Fortunately, Hercule Poirot is there to lend a helping hand with his little grey cells.

- Darcy Lewis was the assistant to one Howard Stark until she got caught in one of his experiments and ended up in the future.

- Tony sends new gadgets to Darcy to test out and receives hilarious reports in return.

- Bucky tries taking a couple classes in the city at the insistence of his therapist and also to get away from the tower for a couple hours a week. He eventually winds up in an art class with a nude model who just so happens to be Darcy. Neither recognizes the other. They might have never known each other at all if Steve Roger could mind his own business for a change.

- I’m working on two fics where Darcy ends up pregnant. They’re both kinda on the same premise that it was Hydra’s will to use her as an incubator but in kinda different directions. I’m writing them both.

- Darcy tries to herd Jane and Erik to a black tie event Stark Industries is hosting, instead the two scientists while messing around with some doohickey send them back in time to WWII. Darcy has a bottle of champagne in her dress.

- Bucky recognizes Darcy but can’t place where until he looks through her file to see she is the granddaughter of a burlesque dancer Steve used to have a crush on.

- Darcy can lift Mjölnir and hijinks ensue.

- Darcy is abducted by Ultron because of a pact she made with Jarvis

- Darcy goes to visit her father, Tony, on his birthday during the events of IronMan II.

- Ignoring Ragnarok, Hulk eventually finds himself in the company of Darcy and Jane. He doesn’t turn back into Bruce so the two kind of adopt him and smuggle him around the world while Jane does her research.

- Clint needs to bring Darcy and Jane in for reasons and chooses the worst method to do it.

- Several fics about Darcy having abilities for whichever reason including shapeshifting, electric type power, and seeing the future.

- Darcy has the best luck. Clint’s the only one to piece together that it's not natural and tries to get her good luck to rub off on him. It doesn’t and he suffers.

- Several fics where Darcy is a supernatural creature of some sort. Brownie, clairvoyant, cupid, dryad, fairy, mermaid, mistress of the forest, muse, oracle, witch, prophet, sprite, and werewolf.

- Several fics where Darcy has come into possession of supernatural creatures. Abonsam, arkan sonny, bugbear, fylgia, gremlin, and Hedley kow.

Thunderbolts #10 Review

Here it is! Thunderbolts #10, Part 1 of Return of the Masters, 20th Anniversary issue, return of Jolt, all in one!

First off, I love that they credited Busiek, Bagley, AND Hanna for their story right on the cover. That’s class. Inkers often get ignored. Now the letters page says these guys were the original T-bolts team, but Vince Russell actually inked most of the first 12 issues. Hanna contributed to issue 12, and took over for an extended run starting with issue 13. Still great to see him back.

Now, as for the issue itself, it would be an understatement to say I loved it. The story by Busiek, Bags, and Hanna (with colours by Yackey, who appears to have approached Bagley’s art differently than he normally colours Malin’s) being a prologue instead of a backup excited me right away. It was a great way to open the issue, and effectively built up suspense leading into the main story, as well as answering a few questions that would have stood out had it not been included at all. And then the main story, by Jim Zub, Jon Malin, and Matt Yackey, was also fantastic. Super tense and dramatic, evoking many questions and emotions, really investing the reader in seeing what happens next.

This is the top half of page 1. Page freakin’ 1. It’s so awesome. I plan to keep an eye on Bagley’s original art dealer’s website in hopes these pages go on sale there. They’re so gorgeous. I love the work Yackey did with the colours here, too - the greens and purples especially stand out.

Erik decided to ignore Fixer’s directions and play Candy Crush, which allowed the Masters of Evil, 2017, to track him and the rest of the T-bolts down. Great team shot, here, and it’s so cool to see so many familiar Masters. The Wrecking Crew from T-bolts #1 (1997), Tiger Shark, Klaw, and Man-Killer from Crimson Cowl’s Masters of Evil, and Whiplash showed up briefly during the whole Civil War story between T-bolts #100 and 109. I wonder who chose the team members - Zub or Busiek? Or maybe they collaborated on it.

This page just rocks. I couldn’t not share it. That lightning bolt behind Atlas. The right-to-left direction of action, implying pushing back. The overlayed sound effect “WHRAM”, and the way Atlas’s “big ol’ “NO THANKS!”” pops right out of the word bubble, showing off just how big it is.

This is such a great full-circle moment for Atlas, too. One of the defining moments of his villainous career was when, as Goliath, he led the Masters of Evil in beating Hercules into a coma during the takeover of Avengers Mansion (the “Under Siege” story). Now, he’s in Hercules’s place, taking virtually the same beating.

And then we get this page. My favourite page in an issue with lots of competition, but Jolt was the character that really connected me to T-bolts, 20 years ago, and it is so good to see her back. She looks great here, too. I like this combination of her electrical form and classic costume more than her all-blue electrical form from the Counter Earth stories.

This is a good-looking page, too, but I feel like it takes away from Zemo’s entrance in the main story. Bagley is still one of the best Zemo artists out there, and I like this costume, save for one detail - what’s with the belt-cape? Crotch-drapery? Whatever-you-call-it-flapping-in-the-breeze-in-front-of-his-pants?

And as we get into the main story, this is a fun page to start things off. I love the back-and-forth between Abe and Melissa, and Mel’s costume looks weird without her harness and belt and such. Malin’s facial expressions are also getting pretty entertaining as the series goes on, and he’s great at making Karla look somewhat dark and disturbed, which is a different take on her, more in line with her personality.

Bucky gets suckered outside with Erik’s cell phone, and comes face-to-face with the Masters. Who drew it better, Malin or Bagley? I think Man-Killer looks a little too big here, but Klaw looks totally awesome. I love the energy glowing in his eyes.

I had to include this whole page because of those killer expressions in the bottom panel, but this is the entrance I was talking about for Zemo. This should be the definitive picture of him. If Marvel still printed handbooks, this is the picture they should use. So good. So bad.

And as Zemo tries to manipulate the T-bolts into working with him again, Bucky kicks ass and gets his ass kicked. This is a great sequence, reading like a fast-paced action scene with a Zemo voiceover. The storytelling and posing of the Bucky parts is fantastic.

Zemo is such a good villain. Jim Zub is doing such a good job writing him. This is classic, T-bolts Zemo. “Choose,” he says, knowing full well that he is not giving them a choice. “Control hope, and you control all.” (Thunderbolts #10, 1997).

Melissa’s response is also perfect. I would love an uncensored version of this.

And this is the last page I’ll share here. Such a great culmination of the established relationship between Bucky and Kobik so far, bringing us back to the end of issue 3, when she offered to fix everything and he said “No.” A lot of the T-bolts also seem to have problems with a self-deprecating mentality, with both Bucky and Atlas in this issue thinking about how all they do is mess everything up. Hopefully it’s something they can get past. Hopefully Jolt will help. Hopefully the next issue is out soon.

So, tl;dr - So good. So so good.

Journey well into the next...

I will have other words about another passing but I am taking this moment to think about my friend, Kimberly Dull. She departed this world today. From the bits I'm reading here and there on her FB, it seems she had a short battle with cancer. And now she's gone. Kim was one of my favorites from our Hercules/Xena convention going days. It seems we didn't actually meet in person until the Pasadena 2000 convention. But we were friends long before that, via our love of Kevin Smith, the New Zealand actor who played Ares on the aforementioned shows. We "met" at the message boards in a section called the Temple of Ares. We wrote stories of our personal characters interacting with the show's characters, a sort of role-playing fun. Some of us had our particular favorites. Hers was Karl Urban then a bit later Patrick Fabian. (Mine was/is still Erik Thomson as well as William Gregory Lee and many others.) We were both delightfully crazy about our fellas but as the years went on, we found that we had other things we mutually loved. I don't remember Kim writing long stories like some of us did but I do remember the ditties she'd write for our birthdays. I remember the one she wrote for my character, Kiari. The details are fuzzy but I remember something about a cake, a kitchen counter, and Ares wishing his priestess a happy birthday in his own special way. Good times. We corresponded via email for awhile but as time went on, those messages turned into comments on social media until it was just glimpses into each other lives with the occasional like or quick hello here and there. I loved when she shared her adventures on her page, her smile always at the ready and merriment lighting her eyes. I can tell from the messages on her FB now that she was so very loved and that she will be missed. You can add me to those voices. It hurts knowing that her light is gone but even through these tears, I think of her with love and joy in my heart. When I think of Karl or the St. Louis Cardinals or the Niners or the Temple of Ares, she will be there too. I was so lucky to know her. I hold this truth close. Journey well into the next, my friend.
