Well, finally started watching The Boys and you know, I'm kinda surprised that Homelander has some kind of rabid fanbase who thinks he's the coolest when it's obvious from the first couple episodes he's an unstable, violent, sexually maladjusted fascist moron manchild and---oh wait, now I see why.
(No diss on Antony Starr. Dude is giving an all timer scary asshole performance.)
Derek, London, Maddie, Lizzie, Asa, and Erik all posted this on their stories today.
Some had attached pictures and videos as well that were so sweet to see and watch, but also a bit heartbreaking. I can only imagine what this is like for them. Send them some love. ❤️🫂
MAN Nate Mitchell’s portrayal of Black Noir and the writing for his arc this episode were phenomenal like the fact that he doesn’t talk and we can’t even see his face but all the emotions he portray with his physicality as Black Noir alone… amazing work
This episode has seriously got me thinking about what we saw of Hughie back in the very first episode, when we were shown his innermost desires— ones he never acted upon. He felt powerless and feared to act on them; that’s why he didn’t and that’s why he never has. But how many times, in this show, has Hughie wanted to scream and punch and rip people apart that we *haven’t* seen? My bet is far more than once. Yes— Hughie has a conscience. He has good in him and he loves so dearly and is so terribly loyal. But that ‘corruption arc’ shit? Starlight is right: it has always been there. I think Hughie in this season especially is emblematic of a fact which lies in a vast majority of all people: that they are, inevitably, human. They get angry. They want revenge. They are flawed, and selfish. And Hughie’s case— the case of those which don’t openly admit this, who instead bottle things up and keep to oneself in fear, constantly doing things to please others and never caring for themselves? It’s constructed as a lesson. If you don’t talk about things, or let yourself truly feel or truly express your nature, or accept that you are flawed and that that is okay in a healthy way, it will eventually bleed out in a much less healthy one. One way or the other.
Honestly, mentally drained shirtless/suited men trying to sleep is my favourite genre.

The Boys is the last show on Earth I expected to have halfway decent commentary on Bi erasure in media but I’d be lying if I said I’m not pleasantly surprised they did have that.
Obsessed with the fact that last week we got full-on, in-your-face ‘hughie is angry. hughie is taking v. hughie is high on power.’ OBVIOUS corruption shit, but this week there is far less direct and and far more subtle red flags. The jar. The stare as he sees the V again. The wordless walk towards butcher and away from Starlight, and an unconscious MM. Like sure he looks and is acting far more like the happy, quirky Hughie we got in earlier seasons on the outside, but this is almost more worrying than the outright insanity we saw last episode. Something is boiling very passively beneath the surface and it’s thick and black as pit and I am SO excited to see it bubble over.
