the hellish house euyevair, one of the growing cluster of impoverished minor houses of ishgard following the end of the dragonsong war, has seen better days.

while it's expected for a male heir to inherit the titles and manor, as is the case with lord helioroit de euyevair, lady heralette de gaucine (née euyevair) strongarmed her reluctant younger brother to give up his birthright and let her become baroness of their house, the first in her name. the eldest daughter of the late baron ajax de euyevair, heralette is both charming and cunning. with her philanderous husband zeumont and children, twins apolloix & artemielle, heralette has developed a rather abrasive reputation. when she's not deep into her cups, heralette is often scheming up ways to elevate the family name. but her obsessive need to compete with and deride supposed rivals, particularly female rivals she believes are after zeumont, make her pitiful efforts futile. besides heralette and helioroit, there is one other sibling in between them whose name is forbidden to say aloud; the second child of ajax named thetinne. unlike her self-important older sister and shiftless younger brother, thetinne was considered a quiet, intelligent, and beautiful girl who took the most after her demure mother, the late tecmessine de euyevair who unfortunately passed after the birth of helioroit. thetinne was said to have yearned for her father's affections from an early age, but she was largely ignored and ridiculed by the baron. instead he showed cloying endearment to her siblings, which heralette only made worse by fanning the flames of thetinne's jealousy by flaunting their father's favoritism in her face. some have claimed that thetinne's striking resemblence to his wife made the baron treat her so harshly, for he was never the same after her untimely demise. and so started the bitter rivalry between the sisters, whether it be over toys or possible suitors, that would last well into adulthood. thetinne was constantly underminded by her father and sister, and her brother offered no support in her plight; indeed, before the baron's death he valued heralette over thetinne by giving her a prize both sisters sought—the roguish cur zeumont de gaucine. ajax overlooked zeumont's loose morals in favor for his family's esteemed pedigree... and deep coffers. it should've been the end of the story, but what would ultimately become the catalyst in the deep-seated hatred between them was when thetinne was caught in a rather compromising position with zeumont by none other than heralette herself. the man in question barely flinched at being discovered—the notorious lech had married heralette a mere six moons prior. the events thereafter were rumored to be explosive. heralette was said to have hacked off her sister's long dark red hair, thetinne's most prized possession, in an enraged and savage fit of retribution after the two engaged in an acrimonious row. thetinne was swiftly exiled from the family home before fleeing ishgard altogether, and she hasn't been heard from since. all evidence of thetinne's existence has since been scrubbed from the halls of the family manor; any portrait of her was destroyed or painted over. whether she yet lives is a mystery, but the tale is still told with petty delight in parlors amongst noble scandlemongers to this day.

📎 Impossibly Delicious Food

Alright, so I was initially gonna just post a brief snippet of this on my main, but the story got a bit out of hand, so a thousand words later, it deserves to be on this blog.

Rating: General Characters: Eris, Dzamie Summary: A tournament receives a surprise boon. Of course, divine food is not necessarily from a good god. Length: 1100 words

Vincent glanced around at his seven co-competitors in the tournament. Not trying to size them up, this time - they'd all had plenty of opportunity for that - but trying to discern if any of them knew what was going on… and it looked an awful lot like nobody did. That is, nobody except for the strange woman standing at the head of the table, and her tiger servant behind her.

"So! I checked, and none of you are blind yet, so you've all noticed the slice of apple in front of each of you," she began. Vincent blinked and tried to stare harder at her. Her white hair was short and unkempt, in sharp contrast to her neat, pressed suit, colored with uneven splotches in no shape or pattern Vincent could discern, yet he somehow knew she was older than anyone in the room by decades - or even more! - just as he knew the sun rises in the east. "This special apple will be offered as an additional prize," she continued, "so each of you has a sample to… incentivize you. I do like an entertaining show, after all."

Vincent picked up the apple slice in front of him and turned it this way and that. It had a shiny, silver peel, and its flesh was like polished gold. But it was also rather thick. If there was only the one apple… the man shook his head, unwilling to be taken for a fool. "Looks like all of the apple is here, miss," he said. "Besides, ain't nothin' gonna make me want the grand prize any harder. I can't go home without that enchanted glove, whether you toss a fruit in or not."

The woman held a hand out. "Dessy, if you please?" The stripey feline behind her stepped forward and placed a beautiful, silver apple in her palm. "Here's its twin. I hope you'll forgive a girl her brief slip of the tongue?" Something was off about her smile as she grinned, like she had too many, or the wrong kind of teeth. "And as for your second concern… well, it's not first place who gets the silver, now is it? This apple goes to number two on the podium!"

"Beg pardon, miss, but only the peel's silver. The inside's gol-"

"Now eat the apple."

Ordinarily, Vincent would object to the sudden command, and especially for interrupting him, but the lady sounded so pleasant that he couldn't find it in himself to hold a grudge. Plus, the others were already about to take a bite. With a shrug, he lifted the strange fruit to his mouth and bit down, half-expecting this to be an elaborate prank to break his teeth on metal.

Instead, it was an elaborate prank to deliver him directly to paradise.

Even before the first drops hit his tongue, the crunch of the apple was impeccable. Beautifully crisp, cleaving without too much or too little force from his jaws, and the sound echoed in his ears while his mind worked fiercely to commit it to memory. A professional orchestra could not produce a sound so beautiful as the first bite of the mysterious apple.

And then the taste. Oh, gods above, the taste. It defied all description. Vincent was never a poet, but still he felt that such base words as "tart" or "sweet" were horrible insults to the majesty of the apple slice. He tried to look at the mysterious woman again, to see if she was perhaps an angel gracing him with a slice of heaven, but found his vision blurred by tears of joy. Bliss spread from his tongue outward, and he wondered if, perhaps, a life dedicated to farming might grant him a fruit even one percent as delicious.

But just like that, it was over. Vincent rubbed the tears from his eyes, and stared down in disbelief at his empty hand. Surely, he would have remembered taking another bite? Or even swallowing the first one? No, hadn't he resolved to keep that first bite on his tongue forever, or had his traitorous body sought the rest of the slice in a gluttonous desire for more, more of that literally awe-some morsel?

The woman clapped her hands together to once again draw everyone's attention - though it was quickly stolen by the silver apple, now resting atop her head. "Fantastic! Now that you've all had, shall we say, a taste of failure, I do so look forward to watching whichever two of you make it to the final round." She stepped back from the table and swept her arm to the side, gesturing to her help. The striped katul wordlessly pulled the door to the room open at her cue. After some half-joking requests for another slice (all quickly and cheerfully shot down), the eight competitors filed out of the room. Vincent was last, and turned for one last attempt to figure out what seemed off about the woman. As her smile vanished behind a closed door, he decided to settle on her eyes - red irises were unusual, even in these parts.

Well, no time to linger on that. Vincent had a tournament to win… or to nearly win. He had to figure that out, too.

The katul flicked the lock on the door, then reached his arms up in a stretch. Reality shifted around him, like changing the channel, and spots replaced stripes while orange snapped into a dusty yellow. Beside him, the white-haired woman shrugged off her suit vest before quickly undoing the buttons of her shirt. "Wouldn't it be funny if I just didn't give them the apple afterwards?" she asked.

Dzamie leaned against the door and openly watched her pull her arms free, then work on shimmying out of her pants. "Eh, more or less so, depending on how that last match goes. And you did give your word, anyway." With a cocky grin, he gestured at the woman's underclothes, and offered, "y'need any help with the last bits?"

She stuck her tongue out at him and reached behind her back. "Horny boy," she playfully admonished (earning a shrug in reply), before undoing a clasp. Rather than exposing a pair of breasts, however, the skin around her chest and sides shifted and went slack, a pattern soon followed from shoulder to waist. Two wings - one purple and leathery, the other clad in blue feathers - sprang from her back, followed by a furry, brown tube of a body. Two human arms fell loose and limp, like a discarded puppet, as Eris pulled her lion's paw and eagle's talons out from her disguise, then freed her vaguely equine head.

A few moments later, the draconequus kicked the floppy human "suit" off of her hoof. The duo exchanged a smirk and a nod, then unlocked and slipped out of the room to watch the games. Apples were such versatile fruits for a chaos deity.

Sonic Dimensions: Chapter 11 - The Final Battle

at last, we're at the final battle!! with this over, i just have two chapters to go and they're kinda short i think. but anyways.... i was quite busy with college which is why i haven't been able to update as much. but i should be able to finish soon. i'm gonna try to finish before frontiers releases. its gonna be hard but i'll try. anyways hope you enjoy.

The skies were grey, with clouds blocking the sun. The ground shook as a giant robot with a powerful aura approached. People looked up at the foreboding mech, wondering what was going to happen. “Attention all citizens!” Eggman’s voice boomed from within the robot. “From this day forth I am your new ruler! You have two options! Surrender or die!” A couple of kids threw stones at him, to no avail. “Ha ha ha. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!” Eggman’s mech began to glow. It raised its hand and punched the ground, causing a crack. The two kids fell inside, screaming all the way. But just then, a yellow and orange blur dashed towards them, catching them just in time. It was Sonic and Blaze. They got the kids to their parents. “Take them and go to a safe place,” Sonic advised. The trembling kids nodded as their parents thanked Sonic.

Sonic and Blaze then rushed back up to join the others. They were now facing Eggman’s robot. It was more powerful with the power Eris gave him. But it wasn’t impossible to defeat. Not when they were together.

"You all ready to do this?!" Sonic asked. "Yeah!" Everyone shouted unanimously. At first the fight was relatively easy. Eggman shot missiles at them. The group dodged them. Knuckles even managed to punch a missile, sending it back to Eggman. Amy summoned a hammer and willing her power into it, made it grow bigger. "EAT THIS EGGMAN!" she shouted as she hit multiple missiles with her hammer, sending them back to Eggman. He of course dodged them. "Come on, is that all you've got?" Sonic asked. "These are just the warmups, hedgehog," Eggman said. "From now on it won't be so easy!"

A green aura surrounded the robot. It disappeared in a flash. "Huh, where did it go?" Tails asked. It suddenly appeared behind Sonic. Before he could react, he was sent flying into a building. "SONIC!!" Amy shouted. "You won't get away with that!" She summoned multiple hammers and threw them at the robot. It dodged them with high speed. It then caught Amy and threw her too. Tails commanded his flickies to charge at the robot. They all did, and managed to momentarily distract it. Tails tried to attack but Eggman was quicker. He caught his tails and threw him in the sky. "Why you.." Knuckles rushed towards the robot, punching it blindly. It avoided all of Knuckles' hits. The robot raised its arm up. A green light appeared in its palm. It then fired a giant laser at Knuckles.

Blaze hurled an array of fireballs at the robot. It just summoned water from a nearby water body and put them all out. “Impossible,” Blaze whispered. A spray of water hit her and sent her flying too. “B-Blaze!” Serena stuttered. She summoned the biggest light ball she could muster. She became so overwhelmed by it that she threw it at the robot. But it just caught it in its hands and squeezed it so that it was insignificant. “Wh-What? N-No way!” Serena whispered.

"I have the power of the Master Emerald AND Eris' magic. I cannot be defeated that easily! HO HO HO" Eggman bellowed. “Now, its my turn!” The robot willed vines to come from the ground, trapping Sonic and co. “Wh-What is this?!” Sonic asked. “Since when were robots able to do that?!” “Foolish hedgehog, did you forget I also have some of Eris’ magic in me? With all this power, I am unstoppable! HO HO HO HO!” Blaze managed to summon fire and burn the vines trapping her. She did the same for the others. “He seems more powerful than usual,” Amy said. “That’s true. We have to be more careful in how we approach him,” Blaze said. “You fools, even with all your power, you still don’t stand a chance against me!” Eggman guffawed. “We’ll see about that,” Blaze said. She summoned a sword made out of fire. “Wow, since when could you do that?” asked Sonic. “Since forever,” Blaze replied. Serena stared in awe. “Give me your best shot, Eggman!” Blaze exclaimed.

Eggman’s robot fired more missiles, which Blaze cut through with her sword. “This will show you!” she exclaimed. Eggman just pulled her sword from her hand. “Wh-What?! No way!” “Don’t worry little princess. There’s plenty more where that came from,” Eggman said. He then threw Blaze away. Serena rushed to make sure she was okay.

“Everyone, I think we have a better chance if we work together,” Sonic said. “So lets stick with each other from now on!” “That’s a good idea,” said Blaze. The group turned back to the robot. “You have held up well,” Eggman commented. “But alas, this should end soon! Behold, my missiles filled with Master Emerald energy!” Eggman shot multiple missiles at them, all with a green aura. The group dodged them together. Amy threw one away with a hammer when it almost hit Knuckles. “Everyone, lets surround it!” Sonic said. They flew towards the robot, dodging all the missiles it threw towards them. Then they scattered, making it confused. It tried to tackle Sonic, but then it was distracted by Tails. Knuckles and Amy also broke its focus with their punches and weapons. Blaze and Serena also put their fire and light powers together. Both of them created swords made of fire and light. “You little pests! Don’t think you’ve bested me yet!” Eggman yelled. The robot shot blobs of water from its hand in an attempt to trap the group. Serena jumped in front of Blaze to protect her from the water. She cut away at them with her light sword. “I’m not done yet!” Eggman exclaimed. He shot vines from his hands and trapped the group in them. “Ha ha ha ha! I’ve got you all now!” he said. He then willed electricity into the vines. Serena struggled against her bonds. She summoned her light sword again and managed to cut off a bit of the vines. She then flew forward and cut off all the vines at once. “Nice job, Serena!” Sonic said.

“Just how long will this go on?” Amy asked. “Even in our super forms, we can’t even scratch this robot. What should we do?” “There has got to be a weakness somewhere….” Sonic said. “You’re right. But where could it be?” Tails asked. “You fools! I have no weakness this time!” Eggman boasted. “With Eris’ magic and the Master Emerald energy flowing in me, I am invincible even to your super forms! This time, I will crush all of you!” He raised his hand and waited…. but nothing happened. “Huh? What’s happening?” He tried again…. nothing happened again. “What is happening? I’m supposed to have Eris’ magical power in me? Why is it not working?” “Because I’ve taken away those powers.” Eris, Harmonia, and Hecate walked up to the robot. “Eris?! You’re still alive?!” Eggman asked. “You think you can use me up and throw me away while expecting me to let you keep my powers? Yeah, not happening. I’ve realized my worth, Eggman! And its more than being your servant!” “I helped her a little of course,” Hecate added. “After all, I was the one that taught her those powers.” “Now you’re significantly weakened,” Harmonia said. “Give up while you can, doctor.” “NEVER!! I will NEVER give up!! I still have the Master Emerald energy in me. I can still…” “Yeah, those were part of my powers too,” Eris said. “Remember, I gave it to you while I had the Master Emerald energy in me. So I could revoke it as well. Though… again, I had a little help.” She shared a glance at Hecate and Harmonia.

“Well…. no matter! I’m not going down without a fight! Come at me!” “As you wish Eggface!” Sonic taunted. “Everyone, he’s no longer invulnerable! Go all out!”

They did as he said. They surrounded him, attacking him at every move. The robot raised its hands, as if trying to shoo them away. “TAKE THIS!” Blaze cut off one robot’s hands with her fire powers. “AND THIS!” Serena cut off the other arm. “Why you… I’m not done!” Eggman yelled. “Everyone ready?” Sonic asked. “Yeah!” everyone replied.

They powered up, then surrounded Eggman again, shooting lasers at him unanimously. “AAAAHHHH, YOU…. I’M NOT DONE YET… I…. I STILL HAVE THE POWER….. YAAAAAAAAA!”

Eggman was able to get out of the robot just as it disintegrated.

These are Charles, Julia, Asra (Julia's mum) and Eris.

Charles is Julia's Loyal companion. He follows her everywhere and is always there to help. Julia is always able to read his face despite not being able to properly communicate with him. As a cat, he can be quite Lazy and loves to lay around a lot. He can also sense supernatural and otherworldly creatures (as all cats can). He usually spends his days following Julia around. When she isn't around he usually just naps but sometimes explores on his own. Despite being a cat, he has a better sense of danger than Julia does. Often being the one to warn her of danger.

Julia is a kind but naive girl who loves exploring and adventure. In her day-to-day life, she often sees all kinds of amazing but horrifying creatures. Despite her naive nature, she is usually quick-witted enough to get out of most danger she puts herself in. People often take advantage of her naivety, namely Eris who manipulated her for years until she showed her true colours one day. This was when Julia realised that Eris was never really her friend and was only using her. Despite Eris abusing her trust, Julia still tries to see the best in people. Even if it backfires sometimes.

Asra is Julia's mother, a hardworking but aloof woman. She spends most of her time working and studying the Gods of the Cosmos. She often ends up ignoring Julia and neglecting her quite a bit due to her devotion to her job. Her husband (Julia's father) passed away before Julia was born and she has never really moved on. She throws herself into her job as a form of escapism from the reality that her Husband is gone.

Eris: The former "best friend" of Julia and the main antagonist. She is a lying, manipulative girl who will do anything to achieve her goals. She is arrogant, egotistical and rotten to the core. She comes from a long line of sorcerers and has plenty of arcane knowledge as a result. Of which she often uses for her own gain. She saw Julia as nothing more than a means to an end but now sees her as a threat. She has the ability to control Ducks, create living Snowmen and use various other arcane spells.
