I think the fandom might not always consider or imagine how BEAUTIFUL Eryn Galen must have been in its prime (Second Age 750 to Third Age 1,000). In its true, natural state, before the Necromancer invaded and spiders and filth settled in.

Have you checked a Middle-earth map lately?

Do you see anything in Middle-earth bigger than Greenwood the Great? It is a magical forest inhabited and kept by Elves who are essentially the best wildlife experts of that world. Think of the thousands of different, gorgeous plant and animal species that must have lived and thrived there! The little streams and ponds and glades and dells and cottages and dwellings!

Maybe it's a good thing Silvan Elves were seen as "dangerous", because it's a wonder other races didn't just straight up try to invade it. Sauron knew what was up, and so he targeted it.

Just saying, I think Greenwood the Great (not just Mirkwood) remains criminally underappreciated. It's sad that not even Professor Tolkien told us much about it; he who could wax on about trees for an entire chapter. We can probably use more fics and artwork for Eryn Galen.

i had a subnautica story forever ago where the play character is a woman mourning her dead wife + maybe a dead child and coming to terms with that grief through the planet and through the empress and ultimately choosing to stay because the planet is the most peace shes had since the tragedy. same basic plot and story beats but yk, more focus on grief and solitude.

#and when sunbeam contacts her she gets to talk to avery for a bit... only for it to blow up in her face. #i was using a recycled oc as a placeholder but im attached to it so #the charcter's name is ashyr #her wife was named maria #and she ultimately names the planet maria or mara (i go back and forth) #and while she does disable the QEP she doesnt leave the planet. this is hers now #and in the absence of one mother #she becomes another #but eh id literally just be reciting the plot for it so i never wrote it #just the idea #at least with ND im changing a bunch of shit like dialogue to give eryn and the world depth #idk. wanted to talk ab it

#c!tommy taught himself how to talk bc he was around plenty of ppl in his childhood #first the scientists and eventually like eryn and the village near the wilderness he lived in #so he’s doing a lot better than most bc he’s had enough contact with humanity to avoid his development being completely neglected #but he still lacked a lot of basic knowledge like reading and writing when c!wilbur took him in #(and he’s still generally pretty shaky by the time the series starts he only got like 4-5 years of education so even being very smart he’s #usually around the level of a 8-9 year old in most areas of education bc of the inevitability of time) #dream smp

Foolish's latest interaction with Dream gives us the potential for Eryn AND Eret lore. Foolish said it doesn't matter who Dream goes after — so what if he goes after Eret, who still has 3 lives? Eryn would then be forced to choose between Dream, his idol, and Eret, his King. It would give Eryn the chance to explore the lore he wanted to do, AND Eret could explore the lore she's been talking about for ages.
