Here's the thing:

I can empathize with Emma to some degree. At the end of the day, she's just a girl with an intense crush on Itsuomi and constantly makes her feelings known to him hoping that one day, he'll feel the same way. Just peek high school girl behavior.

HOWEVER...

It has been literal years and Itsuomi has made it clear more than once that he is not interested and he's now in a relationship with Yuki. And Emma refuses to get the hint and even went as far as to try and make up a lie about spending the night with Itsuomi to chase Yuki away. So when she's at her job crying about how Itsuomi "ghosted" her over text, it's hard for me to feel even remotely bad for her.

Again, I feel for her on the "unrequited love" front. But for everything else, she needs to move on.

How about a Mario x Wolf Children AU

PREMISE contains spoilers for the movie Wolf Children

* * *

- Mia is a young woman from Brooklyn who falls in love with Pio. After some dates, Pio reveals that he belongs to a group of beings that have the power to transform into wolves (not a werewolf!).

- Mia doesn't let this faze her and the two get into a relationship and marry...

- Some time later Mia gives birth to twins, Mario and Luigi, who also inherit their father's wolf changing ability.

- Urged on by his wolf instincts to provide for his new offspring and his mate, Pio goes out hunting, but Mia later finds him dead from an accident.

- Heartbroken, Mia resolves to raise the children in the best way possible. This proves to be a challenge, as the city is no place for wild, half-wolf children.

- After too many complaints and suspicious looks, Mia decides the only way is to find a place where the children can grow up safely. She remembers Pio telling her about his homeland, far out in the countryside near the mountains, and is determined to get them there. She is aware that Pio's family live there - his father and his brother's - but she has never had the chance to meet them due to the dangers involved. Nevertheless, Mia figures that even if they don't accept her, she prays that they will still spare her children.

- She locates the area, and upon arriving takes up residence in a run down house. The locals eye her and her children, but Mia is determined to keep them safe. While the boys run wild and free, she looks into finding out where Pio's family are living.

- It turns out that they live somewhere up the mountains, dwelling out of sight from the village. Upon taking the trek up there with the boys, Mia is terrified, as an old man and two younger men aproach her...

- It doesn't take long for her to realise who they are, and to her surprise, they are welcoming. They take note of the children, and explain that they knew on sight and scent that they are Pio's.

- "I'm so sorry for your loss", Pa says. "The grief hurts just as much for us as it does for you. But I know he has picked a strong partner to raise her boys."

- After introductions, Pa sits with Mia in their desolate home, and explains to her that her boys are special. Unlike other wolf-humans of their kind, they are connected to both the spirit of nature, and the human world.

- But raising and living as a wolf-child is not easy - for Pa explains - as the boys grow, they must learn to choose their own paths in life.

- This proves to be true. For as the boys grow older, Mario starts to get along more with the villagers and the human side. While Luigi starts to favour the natural world....

been playing through p3 fes and… i genuinely love that maxxing out minato’s social stats ended up coinciding with the “ryoji is the appriser" reveal on december 2nd. so here’s a tangent about some hcs / thoughts i have surrounding december as prompted by gameplay experiences.

i feel that the reveal as is, already hits hard, given the moral and existential question that ryoji’s proposal raises. SEES are forced to reevaluate their actions under perceived hopelessness and it’s!! good shit!

but there’s an added layer of depression when you think about the player choices during the afternoon and nighttime segments of the game, and what that implies for minato’s mental state.

since i had minato’s social stats maxxed out (and already completed the tower and devil SLs)... during december, i ended up sending minato to game panic EVERY single night since there’s… not as much left to do. the idea of minato constantly engaging with repetitive activity at game panic just to burn time gets me fucked up. the weight of the decision he has to make by the 31st leaves this suffocating silence that’s hard to push away. and he can’t completely turn away from the impending feeling of “doom” looming over him- during december there’s fliers all over paulownia mall for strega’s cult to worship nyx and antagonize SEES.

hell, you could also just… send minato to bed early and not bother to do anything for the night given that gameplay-wise it’s not “productive” for the player to visit the social stat raising places. december feels extra fucked up when you experience it in-game because it almost feels that minato is just going through the motions of Life™ while trying to grapple with a heavy decision and the existential dread that comes with it. i also think minato could have insomnia- and it just gets WORSE this month.

the dorm’s atmosphere also completely shifts this month as well. aigis is out-of-commission, and each member of SEES is attempting to process the information that ryoji dropped on them- making sense of it in their own ways. when they do join together to talk about it- it’s messy, and emotionally charged by this imminent threat. i love how well the gravity of this situation is reflected in-game, and how SEES musters the resolve to fight nyx, no matter what the future may hold for them.

ANYWAY. i love december in p3- getting a chance to experience it in-game and translating gameplay experiences to the protagonist has really heightened my appreciation for it! even if the protagonists are ‘intended’ to be blank slates… there is so much that you can infer and piece together from the gameplay and AUGH! i love the MCs 😭

TURN-93: A White Night Duel! Judai VS Asuka (Part 1)

The two personalities within Saiou are at odds with each other--one is a spirit impacted by the Waves of Light and now aims to destroy the world, while the other is a good spirit trying to prevent that.  In order to prevent the world’s destruction, the good spirit hands two important keys over to Judai and Ed--upon learning of that, the Saiou impacted by the Waves of Light sends in Asuka to face Judai in order to retrieve his key.  With the powerful deck she was given by Saiou, Asuka begins her offensive on Judai with her White Night Queen.

TURN-94: The White Night Dragon! Judai VS Asuka (Part 2)

Asuka’s deck, enhanced by Saiou, gradually drives Judai into a corner.  Struggling, Judai appeals to Asuka’s heart as he tries to return her to her old self, but few of Judai’s words sink into her as she finally summons her strongest card, White Night Dragon.  At an impasse, Judai uses a trump card packed with the “feelings for Asuka” that Manjoume and Fubuki entrusted him with, but...

My subs for episodes 93 and 94 are revised and finalized!

Things start amping up a bit here as we get into the last 11 episodes of the season: we’re given more indication that Saiou isn’t all bad, but the bad that is there gets Asuka fully under his control in order to make sure his world-destruction plan stays on course.  93 does establish a bit more to Asuka and Fubuki’s relationship, while Manjoume gets brought up to speed on how relentless he was with Asuka (shame Ojama Yellow opted against doing it after Judai beat him to keep him deluded), along with showing how cold Saiou’s full control has made Asuka with her new... freezing-cold deck, but her three-part lockdown combo is interesting.  94 builds on that as Judai tries to warm up Asuka’s dormant fighting spirit, to some effect once White Veil gets destroyed, leading up to the great “Impossible Victory” scene as he has Flare Neos defeat her and get the job done.

In terms of my translations this go-around, I did want to make sure I more clearly showed Asuka’s coldness while under Saiou’s influence, having her use “shall” or “It is my turn” among other word choices; you’ll notice that once White Veil’s destroyed, I slowly make some livelier choices with her lines like using her contracted “It’s my turn” again and eventually some emphatic italics once she snaps at Judai.  (The dub, for their part, made Alexis even ruder than she had been, which is... a choice given she’s supposed to be a cold puppet at the moment...)

Edit-wise, not as many animation errors to fix in both episodes, but still a fair amount, the bulk of them in 94, with a mix of card error and quality-of-watching ones like some quick split-screen fixes.  Due to Tumblr’s dumb link limit in posts yeeting them out of the tags used for them and limiting their reach, and since I still wanted a visual element to it, I’ve made a separate post with my usual fix/edit breakdown for the interested!

(In some quick housekeeping news, I also gave episode 3 a quick revision, as helping with some work on a special project I hope to force into a tag on here sometime soon made me realize that the one “You were tricked by a letter into casually coming here” line as Junko and Momoe interrogate Shou in the Girls’ dorm was actually said in two parts by them rather than one as I’d had it; going back to check on it, it was subtle, but you can definitely notice the voice change as Junko and Momoe speak.  That correction will be up in the Masterpost and NAC soon.)

Anywho, enjoy; with Asuka out of the Society of Light, we’ve got Shou confronting Hell Kaiser Ryou next time in 95--a great episode for Shou’s character--and an enlightening science duel Judai takes on in 96 (a bit... too enlightening for a certain someone); stay tuned!

ooooo this is fun! okay, i've put some thought into it and i think i have my answers!

WOULD want:

nanami - i just. i feel like i'm a slow learner, and i feel like nanami is good at teaching, even if he's reluctant to do so. i feel like he'd be patient with me and maybe like that i ask a lot of questions. i feel like he would also try and build up some confidence in me

todo - okay i know this may sound weird and that he was some... unusual methods, but he Genuinely helped itadori!!! like he knows what he's doing and is actually really smart and canonically a helpful teacher. he also seems like he's kind of adaptable with his teaching methods. i would ask him not to attack me tho lol

gojo - okay yeah. i feel like this is obvious. but like... similar to nanami, i feel like he'd be patient with me. he obviously knows what he's talking about and is canonically shown to be able to adapt how he teaches. he also genuinely cares about his students a lot, so i feel like if i got overwhelmed or just. couldn't understand what i was supposed to be learning, he would let me take a break or figure something else out. all these supposed jjk fans who constantly mischaracterize gojo also forget that he is actually a good teacher too

megumi - i honestly feel like he'd be a good teacher. he'd be all grumpy about it and would make hate how many questions i asked, but i feel like i would all just be his little grumpy act.

utahime - i love her and am biased. but also, the kyoto kids seem to love her, she actually cares about her students unlike freaking mpd, and she's a very capable sorcerer <3

WOULDN'T want:

gakuganji - obviously. i hate him. i would literally transfer schools if he was my teacher.

maki - i love her, but i feel like she'd get frustrated with me very easily and would probably accidentally make me cry

nobara - for the same exact reason as maki lol i love them both so much but i know they would scare me and accidentally make me cry

ijichi - i love him, but i feel like he'd just get too stressed. we're both just very high stress people in general, so i feel like we wouldn't work well together in a teacher-student setting. i feel like our stress would radiate off of us and onto each other and it just. it wouldn't be good for either of our mental health lol

mei mei - i just feel like she'd lie to me a lot. and would like... give me all the wrong information on purpose because either it benefited her or she thought it'd be funny to watch me fail
