My self indulgent list of Entities and what I think my connection to them would be, let’s go:

The Eye-I believe I could be a good avatar of the Eye because I’m super nosy, and have always been told I ask to many questions and am to curious and also I’m a pretty open book myself.

The Spiral-If I had to Pick an Entity I think I’d be most likely to serve it would be the Spiral. I have a lot of mental health issues and I have a hard time figuring out what’s real and what’s fake within my perception, Also I’m Pansexual and Pangender and I have ADHD so….

The Flesh-Think I could definitely be at least marked by The Flesh due to a history of $elf Harm (getting better!) and my fondness for NBC Hannibal.

The Lonely-Depression and Anxiety make me prime real-estate for the lonely and I have a bad tendency of dwelling in my own misery at times and finding comfort in that which is what this entity feeds on.

The Slaughter-I’ve got some anger issues and have a bit of a violent tendency at times (working on it).

The Hunt-Used to (still do) love games like tag and hide and seek, I really loved the adrenaline rush those games give you, especially in the woods or something.

The Stranger-I have a bit of a hard time feeling human, I feel like I’m doing it wrong most of the time, like I’m just ever so slightly off compared to everyone else, like I’m just pretending.

The Web-Manipulative parents need I say more.

The Dark-Always loved the dark, find it very comforting.

The End-I’ve never been scared of death, I’ve had some past suicidal issues and now I’m currently studying to be a funeral director/embalmer.

The Desolation-My family has a history of Arson in the sense that one of my grandmas siblings almost burnt their house down because they liked to play with matches, my grandmas son did burn a playground down because he liked to play with matches and my grandmas granddaughter (me, hi) also has almost burnt her house down (multiple times) due to enjoying playing with matches.

The Corruption-Probably my worst fear, when I was younger I loved bugs but these day they make me so uncomfortable, thinking about them makes me itch, and similar idea with rot in general I just hate it, this fear would have a easy time feeding on me.

The Buried-Similar to the dark, I actually do not mind super confined spaces and in fact find them sort of comforting at times.

The Vast-I used to really love to climb trees but I could never get to high up because I was scared of how unsteady it felt, in general I like climbing shit to be up high but if it feels unstable I feel like I’m about to pass out.

the Exctinction-Lived through a pandemic and constantly being informed about different new events that could end the world.

If you read all this, hot damn I love you wow thank you so much haha, this was purely self indulgent as ive seen other people do it and I find the fears so interesting.

Hey, I started reading Robin son of Batman because of your recommendation (I literally have a print of your post on my phone to not forget lol). Honestly? One of the best things I ever read!!!

Thank you for opening my eyes! Damian has been one of my favorite characters for over a year, but I didn't read/watch much of him because of school, life (and probably an executive dysfunction in the mix).

Maya is incredible. I loved her.

oh... that's a lot of pressure... I'm aware that I have weight on this side of the fandom (feels wild btw) but authority is too big a word

I mainly interact with art and the occasional analysis and joke posts, so most of the blogs I can recommend are that, plus I am very Chuuya/Dazai/skk biased

First, browse and follow the bsd fanart tag to get just that. Not everyone uses it (I encourage them to!!), but if like me you are so very done with the negativity fest that have become the main tags since the anime started airing again, that's a great place to find fun things!

My brain has gone back and forth on between which anime if arma or new is my favorite. Cause even with all its issues Arma means a lot to me, it’s the reason I got into getter and helped me through one of the worst times of my life- But then new is objectively better written and it drives me nuts compared to arma it’s not talked about ENOUGH despite all the stuff you can poke at from it’s plot and I’m trying to pinpoint that reason since the general consensus is “no one hates new and it gets a lot of fanart in the Japanese community yet it’s never deeply acknowledged so it feels unpopular”

So my standpoint is “do I keep investing into the popular iteration despite its issues or do I invested into the less flawed unpopular iteration when it comes to introducing getter to new people?” cause man as much as I’m a critical person of media I still can forgive some messy writing if I have a good time with it and can clearly tell the staff had fun making it, which is definitely armas case. (Though they absolutely had fun with new too)

#meg text #getter robo #this general philosophy I have is why im not harshly critical on SVN next to “I think it fulfills it’s purpose” #and a few other mechas I’ve seen but not gonna tag because I don’t wanna put them in their tag when this is just getter #I was tempted to make a post asking about what people don’t find appealing about new but it be on twit and blegh #I’d ask it here and if anyone has input feel FREE to put but my following is way to small to generate the feedback I want #but on Twitter people are dumb and I’m not taking the “new has bad animation” take any longer bc it’s cherry picked #next to “we all know this is better animation then arc LOL” even if that whole debate as stupid #but past that point I’m trying to understand what people don’t like to find new unappealing when it’s flaws aren’t turn offs #like Musashibo not having a proper character arc and the villains not being consistent is a big one but doesn’t make the show bad #especially because there’s still good from those issues being Musashibo still a fun character and the villains don’t ruin the pacing #you could maybe make the argument new starts off slow but also all of the introduction episodes are engaging?? #there’s not a single thing about new-let alone getter when it’s paced right-that feels sluggish #Also for a 13 ep show picking up in the middle makes the MOST sense in comparison to a longer ep series #the middle is when shit hits the fan tbh #im gonna be at war until I hear someone’s in depth opinion but I just WANNA figure out what turns off people from new #cause when I also watched it in a group I had irls drop out of it midway through but I could chalk it up to they weren’t huge on mecha #Even if I argue new is the PERFECT mecha show to recommend to someone who’s skeptical of the genre but I digress

but having seen spoilers for episode 12, my heart hurts, knowing what it could have been, what it could have given us.. and what we got instead.

coming back to "Leo wouldn't have PTSD after the movie" because it keeps bothering me

I keep seeing these takes from people that simply dislike angst or anything more serious happening in the fanworks saying that the characters wouldn't feel strong negative emotions if something serious happened nor they would dwell on them because the show is lighthearted?

Which, first of all, is ridiculous and even the show had them break down and show snippets of those darker moments to the extent they could in a show with this kind of atmosphere

Second of all, fanworks are exactly for depicting things that weren't shown or could not be shown in the canon material - because it's interesting and enriching to do so

And thirdly, it feels so, idk, invalidating when people constantly go "oh he wouldn't react like that" "oh in reality he would power through this" "oh we don't need to put them through this"

why does your absol eat metal?

Good question!

He's a Vanitian Absol, a critically endangered variant of Absol native to the Vanitas region (it disbanded about 2k years ago when it merged with greater Kalos through a political marriage). Vanitas was entirely locked in by mountains and was poor in just about everything except metal. The original population of Absol somehow got trapped there around 100,000 years ago (likely a cave-in blocking off the only way back to main Kalos) and had to adapt to the new conditions. As with most Vanitian Pokemon they developed the ability to consume metal to supplement their diet.

One can squeak by for a short amount of time on iron-rich foods, but in order for your Vanitian Pokemon to thrive they do require regular amounts of ore. Regular metal can also work since ore is hard to get and expensive these days if you don't know where to get it.

#I can’t be the only one who’s mad uncomfortable with the prevalence of feeding/fat fetishism lately #both in fandom in general but I see it a TON woth bloodweave and to a lesser extent Gale in general #as a plus sized person i find a lot of this to be a bit. idk. insulting? #ik its dead dove territory fs but a lot of people are bad at tagging things #and idk. it feels like plus sized people are rarely depicted as actually attractive or flattering. primarily just disgusting and taboo. #a forbidden fuck if you will. #ive honestly only seen a handful of pieces where fat people are actually treated the same way as straight sized characters. #the rest just feels so gross. the only time plus-sized characters are allowed to exist in fandom is if they’re fetishized or insecure. #rant post #this is not about anything specific btw and im not trying to tell people they cant do anything #i just hate this issue with fandom in general and it’s especially prevalent in my current hyperfixation

To start off this post I just wanna say, I hold mp100 dear to my heart and I say this with love, but.. I feel off put whenever people talk about the bad shit that anime usually has, and then say that. Mp100 has none of it. Because, like... sure, it has less of it than the usual, and I appreciate it for that, but that doesn't mean that it, doesn't have it at all? I mean. The transmisogynistic joke in episode 2. The fatphobia in season 2's episode 2. The lack of female main characters, Takeuchi's racist design.... don't get me wrong, the show is still great and I love it very much as I said, but you can love a show and appreciate all the things that it got right while not disregarding the things that it got wrong. You don't have to hate it for those things, you don't even have to necessarily talk about them if you don't want to. You just shouldn't deny that they exist in that media in the first place. That feels really disingenuous to me.

i slept like shit today because i read Tehanu yesterday, the fourth Earthsea book, and it gave me a lot to think about.

i thought about, of course, the issue front and center, what defines power and how it interacts with the image we have of a woman. it's remarkable how little things appear to have fundamentally changed since the book came out in the 90s. i don't know if we ever truly figured out what female power looks like, power of a woman independent from that of men.

i also thought about Ursula Le Guin's role in shaping modern fantasy, and fantasy in general. i thought about the first two Earthsea books primarily, books that i think i've somewhat figured out the core idea of, and how much they are about self-reflection. i think that is the core of fantasy, at the end of the day, and maybe the core of much of fiction as a whole, to make a character reflect and to give the audience a chance to reflect. in that way, Le Guin's role as the "grandmother" of fantasy is far removed from Tolkien's as the "grandfather". Tolkien created a world that would shape all future fantasy worlds and a blueprint for a story that many would reinvent or be inspired by. Le Guin created this idea of fantasy addressing current societal issues compared to science-fiction challenging you to think about future potential issues.

and then there is, of course, the tonal shift from mainly the first two Earthsea books and the stylistic shift from the first three to Tehanu. a lot of it, undeniably, is Le Guin's outlook on life changing as she moves through it. i find it very fittingly integrated into the fiction of the books with a drastically older protagonist, wiser characters who are less hesitant to think about their place in the world.

in a comment attached to the end of the book, Le Guin writes that the book has gotten the label of being "feminist" and remarks that that word means near nothing, because it encompasses so many different concepts for so many different people. she remarks on the different viewpoints her characters have had on womanhood over the years. and she leaves the readers with the many one-liners the book contains, the many many apt quotes she created about women's role in the world.
