hi. rant about ybcpatrick at me. idk if I have any pertinent thoughts right now but I love angst so here's a thought: how much pain do you think he's in. just... constantly? like. he got sliced and diced. not just the hand, though that must be awful, but all his organs??? guy must be in agony whenever he gets enough of a breather to be aware of it

God he has to constantly be in agony. there's no way he ISNT in pain. he realistically shouldn't be alive or running around in any capacity like he is so I'm assuming there's something supernatural involved to keep him from dying. but he is definitely suffering. my personal headcanon is that while he's brainwashed he is so focused on his mission he just ignores the pain until his job is complete, which is kind of why he breaks down when he finally dies. his mission is complete. he protected the briefcase. also we do not talk about how the ybc lasts for at the very least a week and how after young volcanos none of them eat or drink water (im going to assume since they took the time to get cleaned up, Andy and pete did get something to eat or drink in between death valley and rat a tat). ESPECIALLY patrick. dude is running around for DAYS heavily almost fatally injured with no food or water. the amount of suffering he is in is probably SO severe. genuinely it's a miracle he didn't die from his injuries/condition alone in miss missing you. maybe he couldn't die until his job was complete.

ybc musical costume in-depth analysis! 💥🎸🎱

hi! I'm jordan, the costume designer (and also an actor and co-writer) of "the young blood chronicles" musical! i posted this on instagram, but i thought it might be cool to post it here too!

my initial role in “the young blood chronicles” musical was costume design, which, as a fashion enthusiast, i was incredibly excited about. i spent about a month curating a huge pinterest board collection and creating individual moodboards. the show takes place in 2013, but i wanted to take inspiration from both pre and post-hiatus fall out boy looks! here’s an in-depth look :’)

patrick’s main inspo was his “soul punk” era, which lives distinctly in the hiatus. i wanted something that would remind us that years had passed since the last time the band had made music together; something cool and trendy, but a little too dressed up for a long day in the studio. even when not onstage, ybc patrick is performing. clothes can give you power and he knows that. the yellow sunglasses were our way of getting around patrick’s glowing yellow eyes from the music videos, but i really love how it makes it seem like he has a mask on. it makes the end of “miss missing you” even more heartbreaking.

pete’s main inspo came from both his early clandestine drops as well as his more androgynous looks (both pre & post-hiatus). pete really cares about fashion, but he still has a chill la vibe. 2013 pete could often veer more edgy, but i chose to move in a different direction in order to better distinguish pete and patrick’s styles. unless you’re a vixen or patrick, you don’t get a leather jacket! sorry pete! to me, pete’s fashion has always felt so current while still being forward-thinking. ybc pete’s outfit could be from 2006 or 2024 and that was very purposeful!

andy’s looks are mostly pulled from more recent years, but band tees never go out of style. the mesh top under the tee alludes to his tattoos, which make up the extent of his stage looks these days since he typically does shows without a shirt on. celia had this mesh top in her closet and i love the colors on her (it’s the only source of color in the heaven outfits!). andy’s outfit is maybe the simplest of the four on paper, but i think it’s sick. it’s laid back, but super specific and grounded. it makes me want to start wearing basketball shorts.

joe’s looks are pulled from both pre-hiatus and early post-hiatus looks! striped sweaters & cargo pants are things he’s worn before, so i'm lucky i had them in my closet (especially since i wasn’t originally joe!). joe, especially in recent years, really likes wearing dark colors onstage, but, similar to how i avoided leather jackets for pete, i wanted to very clearly differentiate the boys from the vixens. any black piece of clothing on any of the boys had to be broken up with a design or pattern. no all black outfits! sorry joe!

the goal with the heaven outfits was to make the exact same outfits in all white. i wanted the exact same silhouettes as before. i’d say we were pretty successful! we got really lucky when it came to finding these costume pieces.

my vixens! these costumes were a lot more nebulous throughout the process. many of the costume pieces came from the actors’ own wardrobes. it was really important to me that each vixen had her own distinct style. baylee’s vixen (whom she named blair) has a more feminine style, her main costume piece being a lacy leotard. she's sweet with an edge. ava’s vixen is second-in-command & her outfit really screams that. the lingerie top is so killer. alexa’s vixen is almost a mix of baylee’s & ava’s in terms of style. the outfit is sweet, but edgy with the ripped tights & lingerie-style top. lauren’s vixen is a little more utilitarian, actually dressed in a way that makes sense for kidnapping four people. she’s more sporty than the others, but her combat boots are incredibly threatening. hbic is all that and more. her outfit is simple, but powerful. she is terrifying.

tiffany had to feel a bit like an outsider. she’s wearing the vixen clothes, but her jacket has some color on it. it’s a little too big on her. the other vixens really live in & embody their clothes, but for tiffany, it's a bit more like a costume.

here’s how i describe the angels: 1) the hottest girls at the ren faire & 2) like that picture of the angel guiding the two kids that every latine family has in their house. they almost feel out of place; so incredibly fluid in a show that is mostly made up of harsh lines. texture and layers were really the name of the game here, but the angels still have an edge to them. to quote fob: “…angels choking on their halos, get them drunk on rose water. see how dirty i can get them, pullin' out their fragile teeth & clip their tiny wings.”

+ i made pete’s bass machete and tiffany’s/joe’s guitar axe! i don’t have much to say about them, but i loved getting to utilize my cosplay foam skills.

this was my first time ever costuming a show and it was such a dream. the entire cast was so willing to experiment with me and it was such a joy to revisit aspects of 2013 fashion, which i remember from my preteen years, but never got to truly participate in! :’)

Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu really gave stellar performances if they don’t win every award out there especially for Luo Yunxi who played every single nuanced version of sad, depressed, happy, sinister, vengeful, longing, pining and devotion out there like who else could?!

Also like the ending really left big question marks on Ye Qingyu and GYJW and YBC demon you know like???

BE or OE or HE and does it matter?

Yes appreciating BEs is one thing and BEs are certainly great for certain plots and shows, BUT-

We’ve seen this BE in xianxia and sometimes wuxia/historical as if writers are dumping set BEs in just for fun, it’s almost always the same formula and not every show requires the same treatment? At this point we’re all certain none of the xianxias maybe a bit of the wuxia/historical too are going to end well (Immortal Samsara, Novoland, One and Only although I’d say O&O was perhaps deserved) or we get OEs (Winner is Love, LYX’s previous xianxia), or we get the split-second HEs (omg where do I begin, Eternal Love, CLJ, Pillow Book, The Blue Whisper, omg the list goes on) - I’m almost expecting either full BE or the guy to die and then turn up when the female lead turns around on a street or at home or whatever hundreds of years later cuz he comes back but you may or may not see him on screen

TTJ for one, based on his character and personality, was trying so hard to make things work, to give and give and give to the people he loved and the people who gave to him - sure, the writer wrote it as a BE and i respect that, but they also wrote the HE i.e. it’s canon, and the show not giving us that for whatever reason is depressing because the moral of the story is TTJ suffered so fucking much and led such a tired life just for a few happy moments and still was the sacrificial lamb. Yes he was happy too or whatever, he understood the circumstances, but is it so hard to give the canon HE ending to it and giving him the ending he truly deserves for all that he’s done?!

Also it was a strangely cut ending for a BE/OE whatever that was, like three stitched frames that faded out into each other, like I don’t know what the editors were doing but oomph an undeserved ending is one thing, and undeserved AND weirdly cut ending is another thing

And yeah if we read it as him being in the clam then yes it’s a mild HE but leaning towards an OE, and if we count the audio drama snippet sure HE, but no that don’t count!!!!

I feel pretty calm after the initial confusion since we already knew it was likely going to be BE BUT this calm is at the expense of watching TTJ suffer 10,000 times in the past 40 episodes we’ve been desensitized for the last death like don’t tell me yall aren’t tired of this show as much as you love it I AM EXHAUSTED MENTALLY - the “ok” i feel probably isn’t because it’s really ok because if we chose, we’d probably think he deserves his rest and happiness after 500+ years of suffering with happy days he can probably count on one hand

(I've been heavily tempted to add Draculaura from Monster High Generation 3! I was considering Generation 1 for the longest time because that's what I grew up with and let me tell you I was ADDICTED to the webisodes, movies and the diaries my dolls came with growing up BUT, Generation 3 has really grown on me lore-wise and I think the witchcraft element is cute!)

(For Yugioh in particular, I've been heavily considering adding back in Jun! I initially removed him because I just felt so discouraged since I was often ignored/disregarded by the GX fandom at the time. I guess because back when I first made this blog there wasn't a big YGO boom like there is now but I still really love Jun, he's one of my favorite characters from GX, so I'd really love to bring him back and maybe have him interact with his classmates and idol, Seto Kaiba~)

(Though there's always characters I consider writing for like Dio Brando, Amalthea from The Last Unicorn, Yuri from Yarichin Bitch Club, Gowther from Seven Deadly Sins (even though I have a love-hate realtionship with that series but I am a Gowther and Ban simp) and more but as you can see from this list alone, I'm really iffy on adding all these characters. Aside from Amalthea, all these characters are typically viewed as controversial (and the ones I'm not listing even more so, especially one in particular for me personally) and I'm not sure people would be comfortable/okay with me writing these characters. Especially Yuri in particular when YBC is considered a taboo for people when for me it's fucking hilarious and a guilty pleasure.)

Hihii, I just entered my Johnny phase. Together with a Yarichin Bitch Club phase, which is certainly not a good thing. The Johnny phase is delightful, but the YBC one.... I don't know. No. It's bad. Hihii, I forgot to add about my addiction for Turn Back Time and Action Figure. For Action Figure, the part after the bridge where it goes like 'action figure, action, action f- oOOHh' I'm in love it sounds so good. Kun. Winwin. Foe Turn Back Time, I have this weird feeling i get when listening to the part in the first verse, after the little singing part and before Yangyangs limit limit part (especially Winwins part). It makes me question things like: Am I here? Is what I'm seeing actually here? Is what I'm hearing actually there? Is earth flat? Or am i just floating in the void, thinking there's an earth around me? Am I? What is understanding of things? What is communitcating? What makes me different from the tree over there? The Johnny phase is delightful, I can't wait till I fall back into my johnny phase fully. I kind of been bouncing from Hyunjin, Bangchan and Jungwoo. but I know once the Johnny phase starts its gonna hit like a ton of bricks. Yuta might come first though. And It does seem really cool.

I've been listeing to Action Figure and Turn Back Time a lot also as well as just Wayv, my youtube just goes Wayv, SKZ, Wayv, SKZ then a wild Doja Cat appears among them. And oooh the does so so good. And I love when the way Hendery's so drippy sounds with Xiaojun's verse. Like that's my favorite part. Winwin and Hendery's parts definitely hit the most in turn back time. And I love Yangyang's adlibs in the stop rewind turn back time. But seriously I miss Winwin's voice, we def hear him more in Wayv and I'm so thankful for that, But when Winwin returns with Universe Hendery totally got a lot more so that means Winwin will also get more. GODDDDD I THINK ABOUT JOES DEATH ALL THE TIME!!! especially because patrick strangled joe to death! there's cords around his neck! he didn't die a quick death like pete did!!!! he had to watch patrick slowly but surely kill him and he did nothing about it!!!! even though he could have!!!!! patrick had ONE hand and managed to tie joe down and strangle him joe HAD to have let him do it (to an extent). the last shot of just his eyes staring wide at the ceiling look to me like an expression of just. pure shock and horror than anything else. and I feel like that's the most telling about Joe's last moments. joe found patrick in the bookstore and patrick found joe in the hospital. something we're the beginning of the end
