i love the actor of roy cohn also. like he's serving. serving conservative homophobic self-hating jewish but serving nonetheless (i'm not a irl roy cohn stan btw, will brill just absolutely serves as him). it was so sweet seeing tim and hawk being happy though (especially as i write those lines specifically right before the diffusion of the last episode). also small detail but it was interesting to see how even when the jewish person (here cohn) is on their side and does everything "right" to be accepted, people will still be antisemitic towards him (mccarthy and his wife).

episode 5 :

the scene of marcus and frankie on the bench ☹️☹️☹️ "i should have let him paint them red." killed me. i was so shocked by the death of senator smith though ??!! the scene where he looks at pictures with lucy was so sad in retrospect. also it's very funny seeing tim lurking around the mccarthy/cohn/schine trio. he's just a little guy. also lucy smith leave your husband and runaway with me !! i can make you happy queen ! she's so gorgeous and dresses so well i love her so much, and even more since this episode. i felt so sorry for her brother and how he gets no real help from anyone. and the last scene ☹️.

episode 6 :

lucy's outfits and hair are so gorgeous !! i really love what we saw her wearing in this episode's 1950s timeline, especially her baby blue and yellow dresses.

hawk being a daughter's father oh he's so real, kendall roy feminist icon coded to me.

the shot of tim in the police car with the back window showing hawk on the road is SICK. like i felt a pain in the heart. and i loved the last shot of hawk hugging jackson.

i kinda wish there was an episode in between 5 and 6 but at the same time it makes sense. we just didn't get used to hawk's children and had jackson for only one episode.

episode 7

an episode for the tim laughlin lesbian fans for real !! it broke my heart for the romance part but i could learn some things about harvey milk ! i'm not american so i didn't know he was murdered (or didn't remember it) but i read on wikipedia that he was jewish too ! i really love the costumes of the 70s, they're all so beautiful and fitting for the characters :'). i love all the small details in the sets and decorations, each of the era have a unique vibe ! i'm absolutely terrified for tomorrow's episode, i'm not ready to see them go at all !!

what boundaries though, anon? please do specify. because i've heard plenty of reasons for deciding to go les4les float around many times now, and they've never expanded out of the following criteria (and anything related):

Bi Women Bad™

bi women are tainted by men

(potential) attraction to men ruins a relationship where no men are involved

bisexuals cheat (yeah, still, it's a belief)

all bisexuals are polyamorous, dirty, liars, uncommitted, etc.

bisexuals inherently can't be gold stars, which, matters for some clean purity reason i guess??

bi women "don't understand" what it is to live a life solely dedicated to women and other sapphics (+ to exclude men), and/or somehow "couldn't provide" a lesbian what they're looking for in a relationship. this has NEVER been elaborated on, especially the latter idea. and theoretically speaking, lack of experience doesn’t make for worse or lesser support.

if a bisexual identifies as butch or femme, it ruins the unnecessary safety illusion that all butch/femme relationships will be les4les without fail. it's literally just the same TERF rhetoric as the safety illusion that all WLW relationships will be AFAB4AFAB. no, really, unpack that. what makes you feel safer about knowing your partner isn't transfem, or, y'know, bisexual (also one is much more conceptual than the other, which is more materialistic. so like. yeah. what's the point.)

bi women aren't apologetic to lesbians for who they are 24/7 and therefore oppress them

bi women "are homo/lesbophobic" (see: not tolerating biphobia & harassment, using butch/femme, being dykes, using the term "sapphic", using the ⚢ symbol, sharing a history with lesbians without needed permission, daring to ask for a community of solidarity with lesbians, not exclusively dating women in their own personal lifestyle choices, etc.)

the false and generalized assumption that *all* bi women are *actually* homo/lesbophobic (see: forcing lesbians to like men, claiming comphet can't be real because it makes one bisexual instead, erasing canon lesbian characters, derailing lesbian posts, being ignorant towards lesbian issues, and/or otherwise treating lesbians really shitty and not including them where they belong, etc.) ─ including this one because for some reason, it's a one-way street and the reverse is bad-faith, bigoted, and exclusionary.

ETA: bi people don't talk enough about mspec lesbians, apparently (even though they do so pretty much all the time on twitter but ok)

keep in mind that these are all things that i have ACTUALLY SEEN being used as arguments consistently over time with my own eyes, unironically. and yes, they are always about bi women. who else would it be, pan women? other mspec women? who else could be a potential romantic/sexual partner to lesbians? who else is les4les designed to be a protective shield against?

i've never seen a good faith reason that isn't either biphobic, misogynistic, a combination of both, or two-sided in a way that acknowledges bi women can't oppress lesbians, despite how much we try to add that when we agree that lesbians don't oppress bi women either. or even anything that doesn't exclude the fact that, behaviorally, we can do anything that you can too (not regarding inherent attraction).

the other thing i want to say is, i don't inherently have a problem with any random les4les or bi4bi relationship picked out of a hat in a lottery. i even headcanon some of my favorite ships as such sometimes. also, factually, some fictional ships and even real relationships are one of those two, or bi4les/les4bi. as i said in the tags you're responding to, anon, these types of relationships aren't inherently flawed, especially if they form by chance and not intentional setup. in fact, those like t4t, aut4aut, ace4ace / aro4aro / aro4ace*¹, blk4blk, disabled4disabled, and the like actually have a systemic and structural reason for setting their preferences. but doing this just to avoid other sapphics? the "safety" reason is absolute bullshit, and just creates a further unnecessary divide among mono and mspec sapphics that really shouldn't be created. we're not a danger to each other, we're both in danger from everyone else ─ namely, the straights™.

hell, i would even say casually looking for a partner who shares your orientation labels is totally valid, even though the preference would have no real basis or weight if it's not in bigotry. and then if you fall in love with someone and they don't meet that expectation, so what!! who cares!! it'd be a really dumb loss of opportunity to say no due to that minor and irrelevant difference despite the fact that you both seemed ready to commit to each other as partners. that, and actively excluding harmless groups of people, making it your life mission at all costs, especially for a few twitter discourse points™, is such a waste and only hurts real people's feelings, yourself included.

anyways ppl online have told me i have “pretty privilege”, when growing up i was constantly bullied and physically abused for my appearance. one day i’m the “ugliest girl in school” and the next i’m put in a list of “hottest girls in school”, neither felt good and it just highlights to me that “pretty privilege” doesn’t exist bc “pretty” isn’t an actual definable group to begin with. at the end of the day my appearance was being valued more than me as a person and i was made to feel shitty either way.

my gf has a conventionally attractive face by her culture’s standards, minus her gender non-conformity and skin colour. but simply bc she’s butch & im not, i face a lot of sexual harassment that is quite foreign to her whereas she experiences a lot of casual homophobia due to being visibly a lesbian. because my skin colour is darker, i often face prejudices on that basis too. because she’s asian, she also faces prejudices that i dont face. because im brown, i face prejudices that she doesn’t face.

i can agree that different factors in one’s appearance can impact our experiences, factors such as weight, skin colour, race, and gender (non-)conformity. but to translate that into “pretty privilege” or even “pretty advantage” is beyond stupid in my eyes. it just doesn’t make sense to me to act like there’s a class of women that are objectively pretty & treated better bc of it vs a class of women that are objectively ugly and treated worse bc of it. what makes more sense is to say that there’s prejudices based on differing aspects of ppls appearances that primarily impact women, women being fatter or darker will often harm their job prospects for example. but beauty is subjective + women are considered ugly as we age which is also inevitable for us, there’s a reason this doesn’t impact men. the issue is women are constantly reduced to our appearances and we should be combating that instead of pretending there’s a systemic privilege to being “pretty”, whatever that means. the issue is that our appearance is valued over all else and this isn’t gonna be much of a privilege ultimately bc it always means our merits are overlooked and that we are being objectified. it is not a privilege to be objectified, whether u get positives out of it or not

in the gmg arc, minerva at first is seen as possessing some traits similar to her father. she is calm and confident but also has a sadistic side as seen in the naval battle. minerva is also portrayed as the type of person who would do anything to achieve or get whatever she wanted. minerva also seemingly has a superiority complex. i think these traits were embedded in her because of the cruelty of jiemma during her childhood, like he ingrained the desire for superiority and power and the idea that so-called “weaker mages” are below her into her mind from a young age and i do feel all of this has been hard to unlearn for her.

we do see a considerable change in her personality in the end of the tartaros arc (minus the whole neo minerva thing) and alvarez arc. she is now definitely more self reflective, caring and considerate. she even apologised to kagura and lucy for the way she treated them during the grand magic games and becomes closer to her guild mates.

MY HEADCANONS FOR THEM

minerva is either lesbian, bisexual or pansexual. she does not give me straight vibes in the slightest

it says on the wiki page that she speaks an old and archaic form of japanese but “minerva” is the name for the roman goddess of wisdom and is of latin origin, which is why i will fully believe that this woman is half italian

minerva is also the smartest in the guild, more so than orga, rufus or rogue (i’m sorry sting bbg)

her hyperfixation is makeup. i don’t know where this came from but i can just see her having a big space filled with all types of makeup and see her experimenting

i also think minerva would be really good at history

but i also totally imagine her geeking out to k-dramas with yukino.

MINERVA IN LOVE + FRIENDSHIP

i have nothing against rogue (he is my favourite character yall) or straight ships but i just cannot get with the roguerva ship like y’all ‼️ did you not feel the sexual tension between minerva and erza or yukino

minerva would be a confident but also shy lover. she’s highly insecure of the fact that she was not a good person beforehand (talking about gmg arc and prior) and does not deserve to be showered with love and affection. her s/o will reassure her but it’s like a voice in her head type of situation. therefore i feel like it’d be really hard for minerva to fully open up to dating unless she knew you really well.

if she was to date someone, it had to be someone really understanding and empathetic. someone mature and not irrational. she would totally be super protective and all but is not great at showing emotions so i think even if she is protective and jealous, she’d suppress her feelings.

i feel like as a friend, she’d be protective as well. but it takes her lesser time to open up to and get comfortable with a friend as compared to a s/o because obviously, dating is scary and minerva sees commitment as something that is formal. so if you are a friend, especially a best friend, get prepared to have your ear talked off.

i will die on this hill but minerva is 100% very very…not insecure but let’s say hesitant, in her relationships because of the negative connotations of her past actions. she fully believes that one day people might abandon her and that freaks her the fuck out. at the same time, she doesn’t like to be vulnerable so not everyone would know about this. but overall, she is a sweetheart and her love language is acts of service. she will never fail to make her s/o or friends feel appreciated.

PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT THE CHARACTER

i loved her character development! minerva is actually criminally underrated and i wish we get more of her (not as rogues love interest) in 100yq. she’s also a character i have many headcanons for, and amongst my favourite sabertooth members (the bar is not really high though)

I personally headcanon Josh as gay with some major comphet, so I think he mistook his closeness with Sam - either lesbian or bisexual, I go back and forth, but queer in some way - for romantic feelings

however, as an overall ship, I definitely have others that I prefer, and I just don't find enjoyment in this one that I assume the people who write them do, the jock and nerd dynamic is cute but I don't see much substance behind it

i almost forgot but some thought i had when watching the last (for me now) episode of ft on last friday's night/saturday's morning. (i don't remember much now but i don't care.)

so like i love the opening when i watched it, that kinda reminded me of the ones of l'amica geniale/my brillant friend/l'amie prodigieuse (another show and book it's been years i need to continue past s1 and finish tome 2 smh) for the music.

also it reminded me a bit of succession but it's one of my hyperfixation's currently so i don't know if the comparison would be made by someone who enjoys this show normally. (i know it's giving "girl who has only ever watched succession : getting a lot of succession vibes from this."). i love the associations of vintages pictures, videos etc, the intro is really beautiful to me !

now really for the episode's content.

i already liked mary in the first episode but now i love her 🥺. like i love her and caroline i hope they somewhat get their happy ever after at some point.

and it's a great detail that when at home with friends they wear trousers (unlike when they are at work). the scene of their party was so sweet, they were all very cute and sweet. she and her friends where so beautiful and endearing, shoutout to lesbians for real !!!! also my girl mary has so beautiful hair and i love her lesbian/gay beard for eachother situation with tim, me and who etc.

i love the costumes so much, i'm obsessed, they're so well fitting and i need them all !! i already said it before but the directing and music are so beautiful.

(lastly) i know they are supposed to go through several decades but i personally hate when there are too big time gaps in a show/movie, especially when i love the characters 😭. like i love seeing their evolutions through the years but i also want to see them everyday of their lives because i get too attached to them and i don't see them grow old day after day.

Ok this is gonna be a long one because you asked me for 4 characters and whoever I projected onto and I was a strilonde motherfucker so I've done the four you asked about as well as Dirk and Roxy. I'll start with Roxy

My friends in middleschool got me into homestuck by assigning me Roxy kin. Which fair enough I am still kinda like that to this day. I didn't project onto her as hard as I did with Dave but I'm love her.

Dirk is my homestuck problematic fav I love him so much I liked it when he mailed his severed head to Jake because he was gay. A respectable flirting method if ever there was one.

I'm gonna do Dave and Rose together because I have a fun story about them so here's the bingo cards.

You guys are about to unlock forbidden mentally ill Jamie lore, so buckle up. When I was 13 I came out as a trans boy to my parents and asked to be put on testosterone and was denied. I was already in the throes of puberty, had been for a year and a half at that point. And I finally had the answer for why I felt so shitty about it and I had the solution and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it because I was essentially, as all children are under our current shitty legal model of family, my parents' property. I had no fucking rights and so I couldn't choose what puberty I was going to go through even though I would be much happier now if they had. But anyway point is I was able to understand and articulate what was going on and by all rights I should have transitioned back then, but there was still this barrier. It was the most frustrating thing in the world. Part of my coping strategy for this horrid injustice that was occurring in my life was to put Dave and Rose in a jar and shake them around. I had an ongoing comic that I drew that I think I intended to put online at some point but never did where Dave(FtM) and Rose(MtF) while stuck on the meteor went through the throws of puberty Rose got tall, started growing facial hair at an alarming rate, the whole bit. Dave suffered his binder becoming too small and periods. It was a whole thing. And they spent 3 years trying and failing to alchemize synthetic hormones. Meanwhile they were surrounded by and developing relationships with these trolls who didn't understand human puberty and there were many goofs and gaffs about these trolls, but especially Kanaya and Karkat, just not getting it in the gayest way possible.

I love shows like TOH and SPOP and SU for their representation, but I feel like saying gay really takes rep to another level. It makes the show and representation feel a heck of a lot more real, in my opinion. 

Also shoutout to Cyrus for being the first openly gay character in a Disney Channel show, and the first one to say gay in a Disney Channel show!!
