Ok so I'm not going to be able to do this whole thing for femslash feb but I'm excited about the idea so I have to talk about it.

I was trying to determine what Disney movie would be the right fit for Spooner and Astra and then I realized that it's not a Disney movie at all.

It's Anastasia.

I will be shamelessly smashing together the animated movie and the stage musical because I feel like it (but mostly because musical Dmitri actually has a backstory).

Anya - Spooner

I know what you're thinking. Astra is obviously the princess of the two. But let's compare.

They both have happy childhoods that are suddenly destroyed by someone killing their family. They get away under extraordinary circumstances but with significant memory loss. When they're found, nobody can figure out who they are or where they came from. The memories they do have make no sense and are dismissed by everyone. They grow up to be weird loners. Eventually they cross paths with other weirdos who take advantage of the fact that they have these bizarre holes in their histories.

But it accidentally leads to them finding out the truth about who they are and reconnecting with their families.

Dimitri - Astra

They're also orphans, but they know exactly where they came from. They were on their own in very difficult circumstances from a young age and had to learn to con and steal and use their heads to stay alive. They're sarcastic and always put themselves first because that's the only way they've been able to survive up until now.

And then they get stuck with Anya/Spooner and have to learn to actually cooperate with someone for once. It does not go well.

Until it does.

Oh, and those extraordinary circumstances that made Anya/Spooner survivors of what happened to their families? Guess who was there?

Anyway, they accidentally reunite Anya/Spooner with their families. And then Dimitri/Astra has that moment where they realize that the only way Anya/Spooner get their happy ending with that family is if Dimitri/Astra loses them.

But Anya/Spooner figures out a way to get the family and the boy/girl.

Anyway, I can't find gifs for all of the side characters but

Vlad - Nate (but maybe a little bit Behrad because I can't see Astra and Nate voluntarily coexisting)

Sophie/Lily - Zari

Rasputin - wow, I wonder which Legend would have sold his soul to demons for personal game. That's a thinker.

spooner/astra is sooooo real i need to get back to watching LoT s7. this show gave me not ONE but TWO femslashes of color do you know how RARE that is in marvel dc properties. and its NOT just hee hee theyre happy forever holding hands and giggling NO they have PROBLEMS and ISSUES. specifically they have issues with their moms and with the concept of motherhood which is of course the most delectable issues for a lesbian couple to have. ohhhhhh its so good i miss them
